Safe (Kaminari Denki x Reader)
Tumblr media
Warnings: slight angst/insecurities, comfort, fluff Pairing: kaminari denki x reader Prompt: #58 “You make me feel safe”
A/N: idk why but i hc that kaminari is actually very insecure but jokes around and shit as a coping mechanism. can you sense the self projection here. hope you enjoy this, it was very fun to write!
You sprung forward, eyes wide awake with alarm. Your mind struggled to catch up with your body; phantom sensations still lingering on your skin, static scenes of vibrant blue flames scorched into your brain as your heavy breaths died down into a slightly more regulated rhythm. This was the fifth time this week. It’s been two full months since the training camp, two full months since you’ve moved into the dorms and you still weren’t over it yet. The nightmares just wouldn’t stop.
You plopped back down on the mattress, exasperated and thoroughly annoyed at having your precious slumber cut short. Again. Honestly, for such a prestigious school, U.A. has probably the worst counseling team you’ve ever seen– or haven’t seen, because despite several of your classmates showing painfully obvious signs of trauma, the school staff has barely stepped in. You huffed at the administration’s incompetence, turning on your side to glare at nothing in particular. A ping interrupted your train of thought, drawing your attention to the device laying on your nightstand. You snatched your phone, unlocking it and immediately squinting at the brightness before checking the time. Three in the morning. Who the hell would text you at ass o’clock in the morning? You knew who.
Pika pika⚡: [image] [image] [image]
some maymays for when you wake up 😌😌
You: they’re called memes ffs
Pika pika⚡: you’re awake??👀
You: no.
The message was left on seen, though the interface of the messaging up was replaced by that of an incoming call. You rolled your eyes, though a slight smile stretched your tired features at the picture of you and Kaminari grinning at the camera. You accepted the call.
“Why are you up?” His voice came through mildly distorted but still as loud as ever, too loud for three in the fucking morning.
“Can’t sleep,” Your answer was slightly muffled by a yawn, betraying just how exhausted you were. The silence that proceeded was deafening, neither of you uttering a word, but you could faintly hear his even breathing. It was oddly calming. You sigh, lids blinking to fight off your drowsiness.
“…You’re still having nightmares?” Words tinged with worry, his voice was much quieter now, gentler. If anything, Kaminari was a great friend. He’d proven that to you time and time again. He was the only one that could tell when you were drowning in hushed misery, seeing through your well-constructed front like it was second nature to him. For someone so astoundingly moronic, he was extremely socially intelligent, and even observant when he wanted to be. And for the umptieth time, he’s showing you just how easily he could pick up on the small traces of discomfort in your voice, the silent plea left unspoken from your lips.
“Yeah…” The reply didn’t come out as resolute as you’d wished it would have been. But it couldn’t be helped. No matter how hard you willed yourself to level your tone in hopes of fending off his concerns, you knew it would all crumble at some point. Go figure your strong façade would fall apart in front of him. It’s always been him. For some reason unknown to you (yet), confiding in him just felt right, secure.
More silence ensued.
Denki was a natural at detecting people’s emotions, but that’s as far as his expertise would go. Sure, he knew how to encourage others, pushing them past their insecurities was as easy as breathing to him. With bright, golden hues and an obnoxiously dorky grin, all he had to do was utter a few optimistic words and that would get the job done. But comfort? Vulnerability? That was so far beyond the shallow waters he’d grown accustomed to. Sentimentalities weren’t his thing, he simply didn’t posses the wisdom and eloquence needed to deal with such situations. His immediate reaction would be to crack a joke, fruitless attempts at lightening the mood but he knew there was a time and place for jests, and this wasn’t one of them. Awkwardness and half-hearted jabs were his immediate reaction… because that’s how he dealt with his own problems too.
“Hey… can I come over? We can play animal crossing or something,” You sure as shit wouldn’t be able to sleep, not in this state. You needed a distraction. A friend.
“What if we get caught?”
“Would you even care if we got caught?”
A light chuckle. “No,”
“Exactly. I’ll be there in a bit.”
The line went dead, he stared at the blank screen of his phone before flopping onto his back. Why you’d be so open with him of all people when he saw just how uneasy around his other classmates, he didn’t know. The list of people he thought were more deserving of your trust was almost unending, and he wasn’t even close to the top of it. One thought brought forward another, each one getting progressively more deprecative, and the sloppily sewn patch over his self-doubt started to tear, ripped off its poorly embedded stitches. He was confident in himself, until he joined class 1-A that is. He just felt… there compared to his peers. His body was nothing to laugh at, but his build was still considerably lean compared to the people he was around. The fact that such a talented, hardworking person had taken interest in him was frankly baffling. He wasn’t as flashy as Todoroki, or as powerful as Bakugo, or as brainy as Midoriya. He was just him. Lackluster, average him. It only added insult to injury when he’d witnessed how they looked at you. They pined for you, and he couldn’t blame them. He craved you too. But god, the nagging thought that you were wasting your time hanging around someone like him, that he was stealing you away from people who were (in his opinion) glaringly more worthy of cherishing you than him, it just wouldn’t go away. You had so many stronger, smarter, better options out there that he couldn’t help but be reminded of how lacking– inadequate he was compared to seemingly everyone else. And yet you chose to get close to him. In a superhuman class full to the brim with prodigies and workaholics, you picked him. It didn’t make the slightest bit of sense.
He was fished into reality and away from his sea of self-doubt when he heard three consecutive knocks on his door. Just how long had he laid there, wallowing?
The door creaked open and you were greeted with the glorious sight of Kaminari in a Pikachu onesie, a ruffled (adorable) tuft of electric, blonde hair peeking out from under the hood. You snorted.
“Nice pj’s,”
Denki blinked, looking down only to realize that he hadn’t changed out of his onesie because of his overthinking session. An embarrassed chuckle escaped him as he scratched at the side of his cheek, a lopsided smile and a cherry tint creeping up his complexion.
“What can I say, I always have to be on brand.”
You loved that about him. He seemed so laid-back, uncaring, willing to roll with whatever punches were thrown at him, playing off jocular comments and rude insults alike with practiced ease. Giggling past him, you situated on his bed, ready to forget about your nightmares and just have fun with your friend. And if Denki was a genius at anything, it was having fun.
Hours flew by at the pace of minutes, it was now six in the morning, the sun had begun to show its yellow glow and you’d spent the entirety of dawn kicking Kaminari’s butt at Mario kart, sharing laughs and fleeting touches. He liked this, you liked this. Despite knowing that he wasn’t by any means the best suitor for you, he couldn’t halt the need to monopolize you. How could he, when your very presence (unbeknownst to you) shoved his insecurities unceremoniously into the backseat in favor of enjoying the moment with you? He hadn’t a clue how you did it, but you always managed to shoo away his doubts just by being there, and he selfishly couldn’t (and wouldn’t) let go of that. You immersed him in riveting ventures of the now, miles and acres away from his overbearing thoughts. All without even trying, without even knowing it.
It was the weekend (thank fuck) and sleeping in sounded like heaven on earth right now. If it weren’t for your nightmares. The fear of recounting those horrid memories in horrific detail again barred your eyes from sleep, regardless of how spent you were. Apparently, Denki’s spidey-friendship senses kicked in again, because he immediately noticed the apprehension on your face, the stiffness in your movements as you were preparing to leave. He knew exactly what was up with you, and he couldn’t let you leave like that, it would eat him up for days. He grabbed your wrist as you turned for the door.
“Do you wanna stay?”
Maybe it was your exhausted mind finally turning into mush, or maybe it was the softness in his voice, the docile concern in his eyes that made you agree on staying. Your compliance surprised you both, honestly. You were both very aware that you wouldn’t have accepted the offer had it been anyone else. But in retrospect it seemed rational. After all, throughout the whole night, not once did you think back to the horrors that would visit you in your sleep, not once did you feel the crippling anxiety clawing at the frayed edges of your psyche. Instead you felt secure, sound. Safe. And you came to an epiphany. Maybe it wasn’t the idea of sleep that scared you, maybe it was the impending loneliness, isolation and uncertainty that you’d often experience without him.
“Yes,”
You laid there, facing each other, a considerable distance between you. No words exchanged, yet you could tell there was a lot on his mind. He decided to voice it all in one question. He knew you were smart enough to catch the underlying self-doubt in his vaguely worded inquiry. Whether you pointed it out or not was entirely up to you, however.
“Why did you say yes to me?”
The articulation caught you off guard, you’d never seen him so… unsure before. Your mind raced with the different possible implications behind his wording, though you decided to quell them all with one single sentence. You smiled, soft and lazy, moving closer to seek out some of his warmth.
“You make me feel safe, Denki.”
And he really did. Even though you came to the revelation mere minutes ago, you accepted it swimmingly, it felt right to do so. It startled you how ready you were to embrace the newfound feelings, but you wouldn’t have it any other way.
Kaminari was stunned, to say the least. He hadn’t expected that response from you and he honestly still couldn’t rationalize it completely either. But for now, the budding feeling in his heart trumped over his ever-present uncertainty, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

Chapter 8
To Dean it felt like it took forever.
He watched Cas’s hand glow as if he were healing her, not even daring to breathe. Sam stood beside his brother in support. Cas had his eyes closed in concentration. Dean was looking worriedly at Y/N but she didn’t look like she was in any pain. He trusted Cas with his life and knew he would never knowingly hurt Y/N, but worrying came naturally to him and he had to make sure she was safe. There was an instinct there that he was usually used to associating with just his brother.
Cas had only wanted to see her soul but as soon as he put his hand on her, he was bombarded with her memories. Her thoughts, her pain, her experiences – they were so loud. He had never felt so crippled by a human mind before. He was surprised by the intense anger he felt on her behalf. The girl didn’t seem to harbour much anger herself – there simply wasn’t any place for it beneath the fear, uncertainty, loneliness and hurt. He saw her memories like he had once seen Dean’s when he pulled him out from hell. Once he was sucked in, he couldn’t get out until she let him even though he felt like he was somehow violating her privacy. But, if he ever had any doubt that there was a part of Dean Winchester in this girl, the burning determination underneath everything else would have been enough to remove it. Even without seeing her soul, shining as brightly as her father’s.
Y/N was expecting pain even after Cas assured her that there wouldn’t be any. What she was not expecting was the warmth. It felt like she was bundled in the softest blanket and nothing could hurt her as long as she stayed in the cocoon of that warmth. It was bright light and hope and love and like nothing she had ever felt before. She almost didn’t want to let it go but she could feel the sensation trying to pull away from her. She chased it until she couldn’t. She didn’t know how long had passed before she came back to Earth, so to speak.
Cas’s hand slid from her forehead down to her cheek momentarily.
“I’m sorry for the hard life you’ve had Y/N. You are truly an incredible human being and I vow to protect you to the best of my ability from here on. I shall not let any harm befall you.”
The intensity of his words surprised her but she didn’t say anything. Dean, on the other hand, balked at the words.
“Wait, what just happened?” he asked, looking from Cas to Y/N and back again.
“What’s with the vow of protection? Is this some kind of Twilight imprinting bullshit?!” Dean’s voice grew more hysterical with every word, making Y/N muffle a snort.
“Dude, why the hell do you even know what that is?” Sam asked incredulously. Dean ignored him in favour of glaring at his friend.
Cas turned away from Y/N to give Dean his best imitation of Sam’s bitchface.
“No, Dean. I didn’t imprint on your daughter. I can assure you I have no intention of mating with her,” Cas sarcastically dead-panned, which would have normally impressed and even amused Dean but his brain had stopped working at that moment.
Daughter. Daughter.
Fuck.
There was a ringing in his ears. He could hear Sam calling his name, could feel the weight of his hand shaking his shoulder, but everything was muffled – the only thing he could focus on was the fact that he had a fucking daughter.
Of course, he had known it was a possibility – that was the whole damn point of the angelic test, but now… it was real. He was a father. Just like that. In that moment – he fucking hated Sandra.
Sam would have loved to say that Dean reacted maturely and focused on Y/N and didn’t freak out at all, but father or not, he was still Dean Winchester. So, Sam wasn’t all that surprised when instead of making sure his daughter was alright, Dean stormed out in the direction of the shooting range, or so Sam assumed. He knew his brother and he knew that it was how he processed things. Working on his car or shooting stuff was Dean’s way of dealing with the news and Sam was just grateful that he didn’t choose to turn to the bottle instead.
He watched Dean walk off but instead of trying to reason with his brother, he turned towards the other person affected by the news. His niece (Holy shit, he had a niece) was frozen in place, her eyes not really focused on anything. Cas looked at him worriedly and Sam realised that Cas hadn’t meant to drop the news in such a way. He smiled at him reassuringly, and walked to where Y/N was still standing.
Instead of calling out to her, he gently guided her to the library and made her sit down on a chair. She didn’t react at her which didn’t necessarily surprise Sam but worried him nonetheless. Cas brought a glass of water from the kitchen and Sam quickly thanked him before setting it down on the table and kneeling in front of Y/N.
“Kiddo? Hey Y/N, are you alright?” he instinctively asked and winced. Of course, she wasn’t alright. Her entire world had just turned on its head.
“Y/N, you with me?” he tried instead.
She looked at him without really seeing him. He had to repeat the question a couple of times before he even saw a hint of acknowledgement in her eyes. He waited patiently until she finally shakily nodded her head.
Her throat was dry. She reached for the glass of water blindly. Sam quickly picked it up and placed it in her waiting hands, watching as she took small sips.
“Where’s…” she trailed off, sipping at the water again just to have something to do.
“Probably in the shooting range. He’s… processing. But I guess so are you,” he said uncertainly.
“You have a shooting range?” She was clearly avoiding the big elephant in the room, but Sam didn’t take the bait.
“I’ll show you later,” he dismissed the topic change expertly. “How are you holding up?”
“You mean after learning that my mother lied to me my entire life?” she spat out. Sam winced at the tone but ignored the hostility, only squeezing her shoulder in response. She deflated at the lack of a fight. He simply waited.
“I don’t know,” she said finally. “I wasn’t expecting… I know you were all but convinced but I wasn’t. San- my mother always gave me the impression that my father was dead. Until a few minutes ago, I didn’t even have distant relatives that I could call family. Now suddenly, I… I don’t know how to deal with that,” she said, frustration heavily lacing her voice.
Sam noticed the hesitation at her mother’s name and stored that little piece of information for later. His heart went out to her, it truly did.
“Look, I can’t even begin to imagine being in your position right now. Or Dean’s, for that matter. Hell, I’m still reeling from the fact that I have a niece, and I’m not even the one directly affected by this! So, I cant tell you how to feel or what to do. That’s up to you. What I can tell you is that you’re family now, Y/N. That word has way more weightage in this household than it probably does anywhere else. So, whatever you’re going through, you won’t be alone. I’m here, Cas is here and when he eventually gets over his little temper tantrum, Dean will be here too,” Sam smiled wryly.
Y/N chuckled a little even as emotion clogged her throat, shaking her head at Sam’s attempt at levity. She was suddenly pulled into the tightest hug by Sam, but this time she refused to cry. She’d had way too many breakdowns in the past few days and she’d ignore the stinging in her eyes and the burn in her throat if it was the last thing she did.
Instead, she sniffled into Sam’s plaid shirt, realising this was the second time in as many days that she was in this position. She chuckled at that, and instead of pulling away burrowed herself deeper into the comfort of the embrace.
Sam squeezed her tighter and kissed the top of her head. This was his niece. He was a fucking uncle! What did uncles even do? She was probably too old for toys. He also didn’t see much pranks in their future, at least for a little while. He could teach her he supposed. She clearly needed education and didn’t seem particularly thrilled about any form of formal institution. Yes, he would be the brainy uncle, who answered all the questions. He could do that.
Eventually, she pulled away. Seeing the hopeful expression on Sam’s face, she managed a weak smile at him, trying to tell him that she would be alright.
“I think I’m going to get some sleep and… process all of this. Let me know if De-Dean comes back soon,” she stumbled a little, not entirely sure what to call Dean anymore. Was ‘Dean’ inappropriate? It was way too soon for anything remotely in the ‘Dad’ ballpark. She put it away as a problem for later, not wanting to deal with the headache that accompanied thinking about her new family.
“Yea- yeah! No issues, kid. Get some rest. Dean will probably be a couple of hours. Cas already went to him earlier. He’s good at making Dean sort through things. I’ll probably head over there myself in a few,” he said assuredly.
“What’s up with that anyway?” she asked, her earlier curiosity making it harder for her to keep her mouth shut.
“What’s up with what?” Sam sounded confused.
“Cas and Dean?”
Understanding dawned on Sam’s face, immediately replaced with a look of long-suffering exasperation. Y/N giggled at that, making Sam smile subconsciously at the sound.
“If you ever figure it out, let me know,” he sighed and with a last kiss to her head, walked away.
Y/N shook her head and walked up to her room. She once again took stock of all the things that supposedly belonged to her. The mattress was the softest she’d ever slept on. She had her own freaking room. She had food to eat and clothes to wear and a couple of guys who cared more for her than what she thought she was worth.
Maybe, just maybe, this wasn’t so bad.

Been having a weird/off week. But you know what’s made it better?
Spending some more time in Midvale with Supergirl Ep. 6x06, “Prom Again!”
Spoilers!
So! Last week was the fun shenanigans/set-up, THIS WEEK we get the emotional pay-offs and oooooh. So good. So good.
Historically, Supergirl kinda struggles to stick its landing when it comes to paying off its set-ups, but I think this episode is really solid in that regard.
And thus, we begin! With the forest showdown! And I love it. Love every part of it. Love Kara flying in and freeing Nia and Brainy with her heat vision, love that one of Kenny and Kara’s go-to plays is called ‘Speed Racer’, love Brainy’s whole, ‘my buddy’s gonna BLAST YA if you don’t cooperate’ and Kara just. Threatens the bad guys from the shrubbery.
She’s supposed to be scary and intimidating with the heat vision eyes but dagnabbit...it’s just kind of cute.
Last week I completely forgot to mention how much I love that Kenny and Kara have go-to plays WITH NAMES. (NERDY names at that!) And also that Alex is so exasperated by it.
JUST YOU WAIT, KIDDO.
Fast forward to the Fortress and everyone’s happy! The day is saved! The timeline is restored! Alex apologizes for being a bit of a grouch!
*cough* understatement *cough*
And Brainy doesn’t get the fist bump, d’awwwww. XD
Nia has a lovely chat with Kara wherein SHE is the elder hero who inspires the youths. Nice. NICE.
And THEN, the first of some good Danvers Sisters scenes...we’ll call this one ‘the mini-van chat.’
Kara apologizing about the ‘Zookeeper fight-y thing’ and the GLASSES FIDGET.
Shout out to the writers, who were ON-POINT with the dialogue for both parts, and shout out to the young actresses as well. It’s...honestly uncanny, how well they nailed playing Kara and Alex.
(I mean, we knew this already, of course, but GOSH. What a wonderful showcase. So, so glad, that we got such a large Midvale story in the final season.)
Right, so, another dialogue highlight from the mini-van chat (but like, not in a silly way. More in a, ‘oh wow that’s very sweet’ way) Alex, to Kara about her choice: ‘It’s the right one because you made it.’
THESE KIDS.
Then we go to Nia and Brainy on the Legion Cruiser!
Nia’s outfit? Outstanding. Brainy’s mask? Admittedly a little distracting because it didn’t look like it was fitting quite right.
But A+ song choice for their dance, show.
(Really, A+ song choices across the board. You can tell they were absolutely LOVING getting in all those needle drops.)
And then we discover--ALL IS NOT WELL! THE TIMELINE IS STILL BROKEN!
Cat Grant has released the aliens! And she has been captured! And yet she remains heckin’ fearless!
Love that she calls Mitch ‘Mr. Blue Sky.’
It took me a while to warm up to this ‘new’ version of Cat Grant but this episode really gave her some fun stuff to do and yep, I dig it. Great stuff.
Meanwhile, back at the prom...
I'm taking this moment to applaud the Supergirl folks for their very nice workarounds for ‘crowded’ locations this season thus far. The episodes have never felt like, overtly obvious in terms of Covid protocol impacts (I mean there are a few scenes here and there where you’re like, ‘oh, yeah, this is set up in this specific way to probably account for some production changes) but I’ve never felt that the episodes are losing anything, you know?
Case in point! Two episodes, set in a crowded high school! But most of the stuff takes place before/between classes, or outside!
(Specifically enjoyed all the outdoor stuff and natural lighting. It’s not quite the same as that LA sunshine, but. Still nice.)
Anyways, in “Prom Again!” the action/discussions are set in the hallways/classrooms outside of the actual Prom. Inobtrusive! Makes sense for the story! Doesn’t compromise!
Gold stars for everyone.
Kara and Kenny are BOTH unrelentingly cheesy--Kara even says as much--and it’s wonderful.
‘Hey Stargazer.’ Kara, you smooth operator you.
Shout out to Kenny’s bowtie, it’s great.
...Shout out to Kenny in general.
(Like, Will is great, but he’s got a lot to live up to, now.)
So FURTHER PROOF THAT THE TIMELINE IS BUSTED: Kara is going to stay in Midvale!
:O
Me, knowing full well that Kara has to go to National City, but also being...just a liiiiittle bit team Kenny:
Tumblr media
And then...THE METEOR!
That Kara just. Body-slams.
It reminded me of another Danvers, who also body-slams some space stuff:
Tumblr media
But UNLIKE Kara’s cross-company cousin, this particular move does not end well!
Because there’s KRYPTONITE! And also, a CLOAKED SPACESHIP, BLOCKING THE FALLING METEOR DEBRIS! And, you know, ALIEN HUNTERS THREATENING HIGH SCHOOLERS! And Kenny SACRIFICES HIMSELF FOR KARA!
Tumblr media
(Well, okay. It’s tonight but you get the idea.)
Poor, sweet Kenny. Who feels WAY out of his depth as he’s imprisoned alongside Cat on the alien ship...but it does bring us one of her patented ‘tough love pep talks.’ Wherein she calls Kenny brilliant.
And also, Kendall.
Never change, Cat. Never change.
Also, “Go, go.”
Okay, some more rapid fire specifics that I enjoyed so that this list doesn’t get...too? Long? ...No promises.
Smol Kara squaring her shoulders in that classic Kara Super Pose!
Alex being able to pick a lock!
Kara using the reflected sunlight from the moon to heal!
‘That’s an 80% failure rate’ ‘Oh yes it’s terrible.’
The scene where the police have Kara, and Alex comes rushing out all, ‘that’s my sister!’ and Kara’s gonna just RISK EVERYTHING to fix this?
100/10, excellent, love to see that Danvers Sisters angst in the Worst Timeline. Also? Alex’s desperate little headshake, silently pleading for Kara to NOT DO THE THING???? Devastating. In the best way.
‘The world will know that name...Keira.’
No Plutonian Landshark sightings!?!? Not even a graphic on a computer screen? FOR SHAME!
(Personally, I’m imaging that they look like Jeff, pictured below.)
Tumblr media
Kara stowing away on the Cruiser, and her very cute, ‘Don’t be mad!’
Her entire speech about her future--She’s just seventeen! She doesn’t have her driver’s license yet! Eliza’s only let her do the laundry once! She’s not even sure she can make rice!
(Eliza, I love you, but for Pete’s sake, let your kid do her own laundry.)
Brainy and Kara trying to play it cool upon being discovered by Kenny and Alex!
Their story involving an excess of formal wear!
Nia inspiring Cat to start CatCo, and telling her she’s CAT FREAKIN’ GRANT!
“If you say Lois Lane I will expire.”
Wait, did I mention the lucid dreaming power yet? ...Nia’s lucid dreaming power!
The entirety of Kara and Kenny’s talk in the gym!
Kara in the Worst Timeline tell Alex, ‘you don’t have to shout’. And then in the Fixed Timeline: ‘inside voice please.’
And she quotes Monty Python that lil GOOBER.
THE WHOLE EPISODE(S) was a GOSHDARN DELIGHT, I TELL YA. (Did I say that last week? I might’ve said that last week, but I don’t care.)
And now, some slightly more in-depth, overall thoughts:
So, How ‘Bout Them Danvers: Not surprisingly, the girls end up in, if not the exact same place as the end of “Midvale”, then pretty darn close. I’m trying to avoid, like. All of fandom, these days, but unfortunately, the bad takes are numerous, and often untagged. So I did see a bunch of people insisting that Kenny living ‘ruined the Danvers’ relationship’ and that the show is ‘taking away everything that makes Kara Kara’
To which I say:
Tumblr media
In the broadest terms, what needs to happen by episode’s end to match up with “Midvale”, and prep the kiddos for the stuff that happens in the Pilot - Kara needs to put the aspirations of super-ing on the backburner, and Alex needs to like. Not hate Kara, but also be committed to helping Kara keep her secret, you know...secret.
All of these things are set up. I repeat: All. Of. Them.
And Kenny didn’t have to die!
(I will admit, I chuckled that they so blatantly teased an untimely demise for him...because I know it will annoy select corners of fandom.
Muhahahahaha.)
But anyways, back to those key ingredients for making a ‘Danvers Sisters in the same emotional place they were in @ Midvale’s end’ soup: Alex deals with that simmering resentment. Seeing Kara handle herself well in a super-ing context gives her that little, ‘hey, this isn’t so bad!’ outlook.
BUT INTERESTINGLY, in the Fixed Timeline, Alex and Kara don’t have that chat in the supply room, where Alex is like. ‘You CANNOT reveal your powers, BAD THINGS will happen if you do.’
That is saved for the Pilot!*
MEANWHILE. The Kara ingredients! She puts super-ing on hold.
Her chat with Kenny functions as a replacement for her chat with J’onn-as-Not!Alura, in the sense that it’s here that she reveals that she didn’t choose to come to Midvale, she didn’t choose these powers.
(...I can already sense fandom using those lines to prove their end-of-series theories and like. Ugh. Ugh.)
But anyways. It’s also here that we get shades of Pilot!Kara, what with the season one conflict of being Super vs. being normal.
It’s ALL THE SAME STUFF.
Fandom needs to like. Chill.
And their (fake) concern for Kara’s characterization is entirely misplaced, because this was a really wonderful showcase for Kara in particular.
Like. The first episode was really Nia’s time to shine, and we still got solid Brainy and Nia action in this episode!
But man. That good Kara content.
THE CONTENT I CRAVE!
So speaking of good Kara content in particular, I LOVED Kara’s prom dress. It's got both a SKIRT. AND PANTS!
Amazing.
I know nothing of fashion, but it was very cute, very girly, and okay. Though I hate the comic, the one thing I actually liked about Future State is Kara’s costume. This was similar!
(Thank goodness it looked nothing like the prom dress from Rebirth. That...was a bit of a train wreck.)
(Look, not all comic artists are great clothes designers, it’s just how it is.)
We see the empowerment theme come up with Kara inspiring Kenny; he describes her as ‘an amazing light in a world of darkness’ and tells her that, ‘you changed me, Kara Zor-El.’
We love to see it.
They also agree that stargazing and Monty Python make for the perfect prom these absolute NERDS I love them.
*Quick wibbly-wobbly, timey-whimey note WRT making this episode ‘fit’ with the Pilot: I’m not saying that it 100% does. There’s already the change with the Kryptonite, and the added info/awareness of the DEO.
Those little changes, though, don’t really impact the overall arc of Kara and Alex, the way the emotional stuff might.
Thus! The ‘Pilot’ of Earth Prime, and in fact, the ENTIRETY of the show’s run thus far most likely involved little differences throughout, but the emotional core is very close, if not the exact same.
BUT EITHER WAY, it doesn’t matter, because our Kara and Alex are still our Kara and Alex thanks to the multiple sets of memories!
(So all of fandom’s freaking out is for naught. As it almost always is.)
I bring this up because, again, as much as I talk about setting stuff up for where we find Kara six years from now--this Kara is a little different! She comes across as more confident, something Izabela Vidovic mentioned in an interview, when discussing her approach to playing Kara this time around.
And now, Alex: Admittedly, she gets less focus as like, a solo-entity in these episodes--she really is there to serve the more Kara-centric plot. Personally, it didn’t bother me too much because outside of these flashback episodes, Alex has had some solid development and screen time, so. It balances out.
And the scenes we did get with those 2? Solid. Top tier. There was even a couch scene! Like, technically. Because there was a couch in the supply room. XD
Spotlight on Kenny: fandom kinda loves to insist that all the men on Supergirl are trash, because, ya know. 'Feminism’ or whatever. It’s ships, it’s always ships. But, in fact! The dudes on Supergirl? Are actually wonderful! And Kenny is another example of a guy who isn’t afraid to be emotionally vulnerable, who 1000% supports Kara, but is also like. His own person.
GOOD JOB, SHOW. GOOD JOB.
Brainy too, had some really nice stuff in terms of dealing with his emotions!
And it’s Brainy who gives us our closing line, as Nia asks him how he’s feeling now that they’ve accomplished their mission:
“Hopeful.”
NOICE.
In conclusion! “Prom Night” and “Prom Again!” were EXCELLENT! They had heart! They had stakes! They had the promised time-travel do-over alluded to in the titles! Outstanding performances from the entire cast! Tthe ‘young’ versions of characters in particular! And I WILL be watching these episodes on repeat throughout the three-month hiatus! XD
But before the Super Friends take their break: NEXT WEEK! The Quest for Kara Concludes!!!

Tomorrow is never far away Pt-2
Sam Arias x Male Reader
Author Note: (Gif is not mine. Credit to the owner)
Request- Part 2: where R went to national city to get Lena's help with the staff of hermes trismegistus. He also told her that he was the guy in the hood from last year when reigh came along. He went to brainy to do a paternity test with his dna and ruby than when it was done the results came back and Ruby is R's biological daughter and he was in shock and almost fainted. When he came back to meet lena for the staff of hermes trismegistus. Lena saw the distraout on his face and R showed her the results and was shocked as well. He was going to confront sam about it but he wants sam to tell him
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You went to National City to see Lena and Brainy but first, you went to see Lena. You need help with the Hermes Trismegistus staff.
”How do you even get this?” Lena asked.
She starts to study and touch the staff. You opened your suitcase and showed her your suit and the blades.
”It was me in the hood when Reign came and attacked supergirl and the city. Lena, I need your help my staff hasn't been working properly. I tried to ask others for help but so far no help” You said.
”You saved me before. I will repay you back by helping you with the staff. Give me time to study it and I will call you” Lena said.
”Thanks,” You said and hugged her.
You went to see Brainy and told him why you need a DNA test. He agreed to do it and you don't have to wait long for the results.
”Y/N, I got the results,” Brainy said.
”Tell me, I need to know if Ruby is my daughter,” You said
”Ruby is your daughter and I can show you the results,” Brainy said.
He showed you the results and you almost fainted, but he caught you. You are speechless and you can't form a sentence.
”Y/N?” Brainy asked.
”I-I-I have to go, please don't tell anyone,” You said.
”I promise,” Brainy said.
You didn't go straight to Lena, you mostly sat on a bench and read the results over and over. You didn't know what to do call Sam or what. You went to see Lena, she can see your mood has changed dramatically. You just gave the paper and she starts to read it and you stare at the floor.
”Oh, Y/N,” Lena said softly.
Lena hugged you and rubs your back.
”Why she didn't tell me?” Your voice cracked.
”I can't answer that for you only she can,” Lena said.
”I don't know what to do,” You said.
”You will figure it out. Soon or later, you will have to tell Sam that you know” Lena said.
”I know,” You said.
You were going to confront Sam but you didn't, because you want her to tell you.
✧ ✯ ✧ ✫
For the time being, you have been staying with Alex and she knows your secrets. You are busy with Lena and Alex went to visits Sam.
”Alex, I-I have a huge secret and I don't know how to tell Y/N,” Sam said.
”What’s wrong?” Alex asked.
Sam sighed and she looks at Alex.
”Ruby is Y/N’s daughter and I never told him about it. In high school, I lied that I had a miscarriage” Sam said.
Alex is in shock.
”Why, you didn't tell him sooner? Why you waited so long” Alex said.
”I just couldn't tell him. When time went on I just didn't do anything. I was scared of how he was going to react that I lied to him. Ruby has met him but they have no idea” Sam said.
”I think you should tell him first then tell Ruby or at the same time. I really don't know what else to say, this a tough situation for you” Alex said.
”Yeah, I will tell him, I just don't know or when,” Sam said.
Ruby has heard everything, her emotions are all over the place but she feels angry the most. She runs to her bedroom and she starts to pack her clothes. Alex or Sam didn't notice that Ruby ran away but Selena and the world Killers kidnapped Ruby.
You are with Lena working on the staff and you get a phone call.
”Sam?” You said
”Ruby is missing and I can't find her. Y/N I need you” Sam cried out.
”I will help you find her,” You said.
”Y/N... Ruby is your...-”
You stopped Sam.
”I know she is my daughter. We can talk about his later but now I will go find her,” You said.
Before you leave you to get another phone call, it's Selena.
”Return the staff or we will kill her,” Selena said.
”I will swear, I will make you suffer if you hurt her in any way,” You said.
”Return the staff and she will be returned to you safely. You know where to find us, Y/N don't do anything stupid” Selena said.
She hangs up.
You grab your gear then the staff.
✧ ✯ ✧ ✫
You find Selena and her friends in the Fortress of Sanctuary. You glare at her and Ruby is next to them.
”Y/N, I'm scared,” Ruby said.
”Don’t do anything stupid, that I will hurt your daughter” Selena said.
”I know, she is my daughter,” You said.
” It's true...” Ruby whispered.
”Hand over the staff, and I will let her go,” Selena said.
You walked towards Selena, you are pretending to hand over the staff. Selena was going to grab the staff but you used the power of the staff to attack them. You are happy the staff is working and hope it keeps working. You grabbed Ruby and tan towards the exit.
”Ruby, follow Ikaros for safety now,” You said.
”What about you?” Ruby asked.
”I will be okay, I have to deal with them. I need you to be safe first, I don't want them or anyone to hurt you. Ikaros will keep you safe,” You said.
”Are you mad at my mom?” Ruby asked.
”No, I'm sure she had her reasons. I would never hate her” You said.
Ruby hugged you and you hugged her back.
”Come back,” Ruby said.
”I promise. Now go” You said.
Ruby nods and follows Ikaros. You go back inside and you are ready to fight.
They use their powers to attack you but you swing the staff to hit them. Now they used their powers to attack you but you used teleportation. Then you used energy manipulation to attack back while fighting Selena and her friend than the other one stabbed you in the ribs with a dagger. She pushed the dagger deeper and you start to bleed and you did scream.
The staff released a powerful wave that attacked Selena and her friends. They passed out and you take out the dagger and you screamed in pain.
You touched your ribs and you see the blood. You are losing too much blood that caused you to pass out.
✧ ✯ ✧ ✫
You wake up and it did hurt to move. You started to panic when you didn't see your staff
”Y/N, you are safe and you need to take it easy,” Lena said.
”The staff where is it?” You asked.
”It’s safe and I will give it to you later. You lost a lot of blood and had to get stitches” Lena said.
”Where is Ruby? Is she okay?” You asked.
”Ruby is fine. They want to see you” Lena said.
”I want to see them,” You said.
”I’m happy that you didn't die. You have to rest for a while if you don't then you will answer to me” Lena said.
She gave you the glare and it did scare you.
”I will make sure that he will rest,” Sam said.
She walks in with Ruby and Ruby runs to you. She did hug you but it hurts
”Sorry,” Ruby said.
”It’s okay. I'm glad that you and your mom are safe” You said.
”Y/N, I'm sorry that I lied to you many years ago. Your father found out that I was pregnant and he threatened me and I got scared that's why I lied. I shouldn't have let years ago by and you missed out on everything. I'm sorry, Y/N” Sam said.
”My dad knew!” You said out loud and Sam nods.
”Yes and I wanted to tell you but I was terrified of your father. Ruby, I'm sorry I lied to you and if I could change the timeline I would. I hope you and Y/N can forgive me” Sam said.
Ruby hugged Sam and you would but won't for now.
”Sam, I don't hate you. I get that people were scared of my dad. I want us to be a family” You said.
Sam gently hugged you and she starts to cry.
✧ ✯ ✧ ✫
Sam told you to move in with her and Ruby, so she can help you get better. Ruby is happy about it because she gets to see you more often. You and Sam are working things out and taking it slow.
You and Sam are making pancakes and Ruby will be the judge. You and Sam think one of you can make the best pancakes, so it became competitive.
”I can't decide,” Ruby said.
”You have to pick my pancakes or his” Sam said.
”You two are crazy,” Ruby said and ate her pancakes.
”She doesn't want to hurt your feelings and she would have picked my pancakes” You teased.
She smacked your arm and you rub your arm. You eat her pancakes you like it.
Sam showed you old pictures from high school and old memories and you can't stop smiling. You tell Ruby how you met Sam and how became friends then lovers.
”How this book is old,” Ruby said.
”It was Y/N’s book and it was called Jane Eyre. It was English and I didn't have a book, so Y/N let me have his book so can I do my work. Remembering now, I kept the book because that's what I had left of him. He wrote little notes in the book how some parts he didn't like and he had doodled on every page” Sam said.
Sam showed the doodles to Ruby and you smiled.

“Winn, what would you do if I went missing?”
At that, Winn just has to stare- coming from Brainy, such a statement could be hypothetical, just a test to see how he would respond and probably judging his intellect based on that response. Or it could be Brainy bringing up a real possibility, and him still judging Winn.
Because as much as he tries, as much as Winn knows he’s somehow fond of him, Brainy still sometimes gives him the same judgmental looks as he did on the Legion ship when he decided Winn was a 1.42 level intellect, fixes him with the same gaze as when he’d derided the technology in the DEO and decided 31st century espresso machines were superior.
(Which Brainy wasn’t lying about- he’d tried them, and they were amazing. And not even mentioning stuff like the showers, which were so far beyond… he was tempted to sneak schematics out with him, was all he was saying.)
(And Winn would know. He spent a lot of time in the showers, sometimes cleaning himself, sometimes thinking, or cleansing his mind… sometimes singing What is This Feeling and other songs loudly after he learned nobody could hear him, or sometimes just escaping everything else, especially his responsibilities and the Legionnaires’ expectations of him.
He wanted to know if Brainy had ever felt the same- but of course he didn’t. Brainy was perfect, as superior as the tech he espoused.)
So, at one point, Winn would have said he’d let him disappear.
It wasn’t very nice, but it was the honest truth for him a couple years ago- definitely better off for Winn himself, who in Brainy’s absence could’ve gone back and done his job (which already brought enough pressure, and gave him enough anxiety) without a twelfth-level intellect practically breathing down his neck, ready to point out every mistake and give him a solution that wasn’t even available to him.
And, actually, for a few blessed weeks, he had left- he and Imra both, which he also knew had made Mon-El less anxious. At least that situation made Winn feel better, as there were far more complicated emotions involved, far more love that Mon-El had to contend with. The man who’d called Winn his best friend- even though Winn wasn’t sure he was his- had a difficult choice to make, two people threatening to tear his heart in two, although they didn’t look threatening at all.
All Winn had to deal with was someone who seemingly had replaced him at Mon-El’s side, as his best friend. Someone who was also a genius, also a tech expert, also came from a terrible family with a terrible past- but every one of those attributes was just more in Brainy. Which was further emphasized when he came back, and not helped by the fact that Lena was brought in to help with the Worldkiller problem.
(For God’s sake, she’d figured out how to fly the Legion ship, while Brainy was calling out orders- what was Winn to do in that situation? He’d just made Alex’s new suit, sure, but was that all he was good for? Why even bring him to the future, in that case?)
(Why did Brainy even want to be there with him, longer than he had to?)
“Winslow? Are you alright?”
Winn turns to him, suddenly conscious of the awkward silence that had ensued after Brainy asked his question.
“Yeah. I’m- I’m fine, Brainy. Just thinking.”
Brainy nods, looking tense.
“Very well, carry on.”
“Okay, well… I just wanted to know, why did you want to know? Are you planning to disappear, anytime soon? And would it even be a mystery, if you went missing and told me about it before you did?”
“Not if I did not inform you of where I was going.”
“Huh. I guess.”
“You still didn’t answer my question.” Brainy says. “What would you do?”
But maybe it is a test- maybe Brainy, as smart as he is, still isn’t sure of what he really means to Winn, after over a year apart, and about a cumulative year of the two of them being together, whether it’s at work or on the road. Maybe he’s afraid of going missing, or of losing himself- and he didn’t say what way he meant it in.
“You’re talking literally missing, right?” Winn asks. “Not like, losing your mind? And I know, you have too much of your mind to lose, obviously. But just… losing who you are. Becoming someone you aren’t.”
And Winn knows he can definitely relate to that.
“Yes, literally speaking.” Brainy answers. “Under mysterious circumstances, such as the case was for Agatha Christie, or Amelia Earhart.”
“Ah. I see.” Winn says, smiling now that the tension has lifted between them.
(was the camera light always on, as the camera was pointed at them? Could Winn, from the start of this conversation, see James’s shadow behind the camera, capturing this conversation secretly to put it on their website as something candid?)
(He wasn’t going to let it bother him. If the Internet wanted to see this… hell, let them.)
“Realistically?”
“Yes, Winn.”
“In that case… I mean, obviously I’d worry over you, Brainy. And maybe I’d look for you, or I’d ask our friends to.”
Brainy smiles, folding his hands in front of him on the table and giving the impression that he’s pleased with such a development.
“You would?”
“Yeah.” Winn says, like it isn’t clear now. “I mean, I know we were at each other’s throats for a while, but now, you know I’d really miss you.”
“I… I do know that.” Brainy answers.
“I’d continue the show, though.” Winn says. “Make an episode about your going missing. I can already see it- The Shocking Disappearance of My Cohost, maybe. Or should it be The Mysterious Difference of Querl Dox?”
Brainy smacks him on the arm, lightly- but it still stings, for a second.
“You’re so insensitive.”
“Babe, come on, I’m joking. Of course I’d look for you. I’d look everywhere- every when, even- until you were back here, safe and sound.”
“Thank you.”
“…But in case you were wondering, yes, I would allow you to make an episode about my disappearance.”
“Good to know.”
Brainy kissed him on the cheek, and Winn smiled, kissing his nose when he turned to him.
“…we’re still talking like you’re not going missing, right? This is just a theoretical situation?”
Brainy doesn’t answer.
“Babe? Babe, you were just kidding, weren’t you?”
Brainy shakes his head, laughing.
“Did you know you’re very cute when you’re concerned?” he asks. “And I, too, would look tirelessly if you were missing.”
Winn smiles, again feeling so lucky that he’s gotten to this point with him. A time where they can joke, and mess with each other, but still know, at the end of the day, that their care for one another supersedes everything else.
“Glad to know someone cares.”

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As both a fan of Sly Cooper and Homestuck trash this set of pictures were bound to happen. Here's my reasoning behind each classpect:
Sly Cooper - Thief of Blood
A Thief is One who Steals Aspect or Steals through Aspect. Sly is a literal thief and has one's cockyness as well. That's obvious to anyone with a brain. But what and why does he steal?
Blood is about bonds, pacts, promises, responsibility, relationships both platonic and romantic, common goals. Sly is endlessly loyal to his two friends and teammates, having said many times he couldn't've come so far without them. Betray the gang and you're officially on his hit list.
"Penelope may have betrayed our FRIENDSHIP and TRUST, but she betrayed Bentley's heart. .... Unfortunately, we couldn't wait around. We had a villain to take down, with or without Bentley's help. And this time, IT WAS PERSONAL." Sly in Sly 4 about Penelope's betrayal.
He got into thieving due to his family legacy, his bloodbond if you may. All the games are about keeping up the Cooper Clan honor. Stealing back the Thievius Raccoonus, stealing the Clockwerk parts so that he wouldn't ever again threaten the Coopers, gathering a team to gain access to the Cooper vault and restoring Cooper history. Sly is neck deep into all this with no intention of leaving, just the way he likes it.
And then there's his relationship with Carmelita. Sly'd drop everything just to keep her safe, having gone out of his way to even get a short while to just talk to her (as shown in the comics). He even dropped thieving for a while to be with her! The relationship is complicated, but there's no doubt Sly values it as much as the bonds with his friends. His inverse is a Page of Breath, one who invites Exploitation of/through freedom, quest, frivolity, direction and detachment.
Bentley - Seer of Light
Seers are ones who invite Understanding of Aspect or invite Understanding through Aspect. They are the ones to guide others with their knowledge like a conductor with a baton, ensuring that others are well informed.
Light is about information, importance, agency and, in essence, luck. Bentley is the man with the plan. With his brains he's mastermined all of the gang's heist with near perfect succession. He knows a lot, even very personal information like Carm being picky about dance partners or Rajan having an insatiable appetite for Indian watermelons to name a few. He even freaks out if he doesn't know something!
"I'm used to having all the facts!" -Bentley in Sly 2 about Carmelita capturing Murray.
Bentley used to be the one who was content on staying in the van but due to the events of Sly 2 he's gotten almost dangerously brash. You could even say the gang's abundance of luck is all thanks to our brainy turtle. His inverse is Witch of Void, one who Changes irrelevance, misfortune, mystery, nothingness, submission and obfuscation of knowledge or Changes through them.
Murray - Prince of Rage
Princes are ones who Destroy their Aspect or Destroy through their Aspect. Murray's whole shtick from Sly 2 onward has been to be as destructive as possible.
Rage is about negative emotions like anger, doubt and fear, limited possibilities and falsehood. Murray was very much afraid in the first game, cowering from enemies in the turret sections. But then came THE MURRAY who instills fear in his enemies (Guttural Roar, anyone?). Contessa remarked about his inner rage. Sly 3 is probably the best example of Murray's Prince of Rage-iness. He beat up Octavio, instructed Bentley how to get angry:
"Find the match deep inside yourself...light it and let the fire burn up your guts and boil your blood!"
and the best example being when Bentley was second guessing his importance in the gang (note. a very Light-y thing to wonder) it was Murray who stomped that thought right out!
"Think of it this way, Bentley. If it were YOU in that vault and Sly and I were out here, what would he do?"
Also as one of the Destroying classes he ghosts his inverted Aspect quite a bit. I mean, have you ever met a more Hopeful person? Well, maybe Phineas from Phineas and Ferb but for a Destruction class? I think not! As long as there's a chance to destroy there's nothing stopping him from achieving the gang's goals. His inverse is Sylph of Hope, one who invites Creation of/through belief, positive emotions and unlimited possibilities.
Carmelita Fox - Sylph of Mind
Sylphs are the ones who invite Creation of Aspect or invite Creation through Aspect. They are described to be healers. I doubted for a long time about Carmelita being a Sylph but then I remembered how extreme the canon Sylphs can be and everything just clicked. Plus Carm's got the meddlesome spirit of a Sylph, so...
Mind is about logic, choices (specifically choices made with pure logic), justice, karma and facades one puts up to influence others. Carmelita is a cop, a person who upholds the law and serves justice to those who wrong it. She's "very devoted to her line of work, and must KEEP HER EMOTIONS UNDER CONTROL in order to keep her temper in check." (from the Wiki) Carmelita's view of law is rather black and white though, as she doesn't realize the truth until the 4th game after she's gotten some time to think. She gets her job done with cold efficiency...well, as long as Cooper's not involved. Heroes of Mind are notoriously bad at dealing with matters of the Heart and Carmelita is no exception. She lets Cooper get to her, nearly shattering her rationality with impulsiveness. In those instances she's ghosting her inverse, Prince of Heart, one who Destroys impulsiveness, emotions, soul and individual uniqueness or Destroys with them.

Notes on Supergirl 4x04
This time, on the Metaphor For Xenophobia And Racism For White People:
- So far this season, J'onn seems to have the best conflict: he's trying to fight the horrors he's already lived through once, and he's trying to do it *non-violently*. Lots to work with there. More please.
- Okay, the Suit. It's Peak Lena. It's clearly very advanced, and clearly exists to be SEEN doing good... but it does precisely one thing, under very narrow tolerances; any attempt to use it outside those tolerances causes more problems than it solves; and it has a lot of features that seem flashy, but are actually useless (Compare this, for example, with the adaptability of Winn's suit designs for James or Alex).
In short, it's a suit with a Combat Mode that doesn't have enough power for actual combat.
It functions. But it doesn't work.
  Also... ugh.
- David Ajala's Manchester accent is very good; and he's going to be a good addition to J'onn's story. But more on that later.
- For someone who's family motto is 'Stronger Together' there's not a whole lot of respect  for Alex coming from Kara right now.- The mind-controlled aliens attack 'the NCPD Rampart division'. Rampart was the name of the division that housed the LAPDs anti-gang CRASH team; it was MASSIVELY corrupt, and incedibly racist. It was also the inspiration for the Strike team in early 2000s drama The SHIELD (which you should watch).  Using that name while writing a Metaphor For Xenophobia And Racism For White People - especially with regard to people our heroes protect - is either incredibly tone deaf, or borderline subversive. I don't know which.
- "Is that Supergirl? Or one of the blokes from Daft Punk?" THIS SUIT WAS THE CORNERSTONE OF THE SDCC PRESENTATION.
- Okay, the Tiny Boxes scene. As with many things, I want to like it, but...
It should have been a Winn/Lena scene.
This exact scene could have played out with Winn, except - and this is crucial - Winn knows he can't bottle things up. Furthermore, he know how dangerous it is for *Lena* to bottle things up; and he's got enough emotional intelligence - as well as a functional rapport with her - to call her out on it. There would have been an extra scene where he encourages her to open up a little. IT WOULD HAVE MADE HER BETTER...
...but no. The little boxes plan is actually presented as a good thing for Brainy (because, clearly, what men and boys need is to repress MORE), and not a sign of her being an emotional trash fire.
- The President is right, of course: Alex has *supremely* dropped the ball over the past few days.
- ...Which makes Kara incredibly unsympathetic during her next scene. Ms. Leigh is doing *everything*, and Ms. Benoist is giving the performance of a brat. And, let's face it, why shouldn't she? Kara knows Alex will cave, so why pretend this is a discussion?
- Ben's plan for a false-flag operation is so much more devious and fiendish than Mercy's. He's a great villain.
- Football hooligans. A scene between two British actors - one of whom is playing a character from the city where Moss Side is - and UK gang culture is reduced to 'Football hooligans'. Sorry, 'Soccer hooligans' (I liked that bit).
- During a time of panic, the editor-in-chief of global media empire is listening to a police scanner, so he can solve problems that exist withing a four-foot radius. This cannot possibly be the best use of his time.
- "Is this the same Nia Nal [...], who convincingly and rightfully convinced her boss to act?" At your job. She convinced you to act IN YOUR JOB.
Also, that double use of convinced is just bad writing.
- Trust your instincts, and forgive yourself afterwards if it isn't in line with who you want to be. That's the moral of this episode. It is... somewhat internally contrary.
- Lena can't believe James went out as Guardian. They don't actually understand each other very well.
- Alex gives Kara an electricity boost with her gun. Or, to put it another way, Lena's suit only works because Winn had it covered already.
- Was Otis about to say Otisberg? #itsjustanittybittyplace
- And... they're dead. Wow. I'm so glad we got all that exposition about Mercy. It was clearly useful.
- Yes, Alex, blatant disrespect of authority *does* have consequences!
- Just to recap: a black man - being publicly, repeatedly, and unrepentantly guilty of violent crime - has experienced absolutely no negative consequences for his actions beyond getting praise from people he doesn't particularly like. (Admittedly, the cops probably like him because they hate aliens MORE). This is how much the Metaphor For Xenophobia And Racism For White People has its finger on the pulse.
- Alex refers to Colonel Haley as 'G.I. Jane'. Colonel Haley is - having the literal ear of the President - probably a member of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. She is definitely a big deal.
Alex is being SUCH a dick right now.
- Meanwhile, in Kaznia: The Red Daughter has been kept alive using the EXACT solution Brainy handwaved away at the start of 4x03 - which means Lena's suit was basically unnecessary. FFS.
- Oh, and Ben may say it doesn't matter who leads them... but he's panicking right now. He'd never use the parasite on a human if he wasn't.

It’s not this guy’s fault. I’m not sure what he was trying to prove. But I read his message and then I got mad at Big C church, Republicans, and people who don’t congratulate others for their personal victories.
The other thing that this triggered is how personal victories aren’t celebrated cuz the goal is the fluffing up of one’s own personal ego and the deflating of someone else’s story.
Here’s the screenshot.
Tumblr media
Now, granted, in his profile, he did say that he was blunt and tended to be a little harsh and couldn’t deal with someone who is easily offended. I took that as–you’re just an ass and will say it’s my nature if I ever called you out on your ass-ness. Also, he said he’s German and Germans are far more direct than other cultures (true), but you still don’t need to be an ass.
Here’s the backstory. I’m fat. And exercise doesn’t come naturally to me. I’m brainy. I write. I read. I sit down. End of story. I’m not someone who says, “Wow, I’m overwhelmed with my life. Let me just go run 10 miles so I can feel better.” I say something like, “Wow, I’m overwhelmed with my life. Let me just go buy a whole tray of Oreos and eat them under my blanket with the lights dimly lit.”
So, it’s mid-March now. Since I’ve been in China for the last 15 months, the one thing I have HAD to do is go to the gym to exercise on the elliptical machine for 30 minutes 5 days a week. If I don’t, I literally will fall apart. I need routine and consistency. The machine at level 20 of 20 looking out the window and listening to my podcast was that for me.
When the Coronavirus started up, it was at the tail-end of the Chinese New Year. My gym was already closed and it basically just didn’t open back up. I could have gotten super fat and lazy again and eaten Oreos under my blanket or faced one of my fears.
Running outside.
Ever since I was a kid, even walking outside had caused me the greatest amount of agony and crippling fear. My legs would start burning like fire ants and I would cry like Mary at the tomb of Lazarus, weeping and wailing and foaming at the mouth. I remember about 12 years ago now when I first chose as an adult to do something about my exercise level (which was zero), and decided to start walking my neighborhood. I walked down the driveway, 2 mailboxes, and then walked my ass back home–about 5 minutes maybe 4 in debilitating pain. I sat on my floor and bawled my eyes out. How did my life get to this point? I was determined. And later that year I got up to 50 minutes at an out-of-breath speed.
Then I’d get fat and again and then in shape again and fat again.
Over and over. For the next decade and some change.
Then China happened. I was at my heaviest weighing in at 239 pounds on my 5-foot-6.5-inch frame wearing a too-tight size 16. I felt like shit. I looked like shit. I was not emotionally stable. I was in a really rough spot. So I quit my job, travelled to Europe taking selfies and asking random folks to snap photos of my roly-poly self just as happy as a clam. I came back, left for China, and started on the elliptical while I was even still jet-lagged.
12 months of strictly elliptical and Chinese diet and lots of therapy, I basically just melted away. The kilos kept dropping until I hit a plateau. I knew doing the same thing at this point would keep me steady, but I have goals to meet. I wanted to run again. And I couldn’t be a heavy runner cuz my knees wouldn’t be happy.
So I decided to download my running app again and see what would happen. This was about 7 weeks ago now. The first day was 6 cycles of 3 minutes run, 15 second sprint, and 2 minute walk with a warm-up and cool-down. Fast-forward 5 weeks and I was running 30 minutes non-stop! A few days after that, an ENTIRE FUCKING 5K WITH NO BREAKS!! I was over the moon. Cuz Lordt if you only knew and could feel the fire-ant pain in every muscle sinew when I barely survived my two mailbox stroll many moons before.
So, cute German messaged me asking what I was up to for the day. I sent him my screenshot of my run. About 12.75-13 minute mile for a 5k. He then sends me his. 10k in 60 minutes. And says, you need to run faster.
Bitch.
I have so many cuss words cuz he truly had the audacity. I don’t care how far, how slow, how fast, how whatever, congratulate the fucking person cuz you don’t know their fucking story. There are days when I would congratulate myself for only eating ½ a tray of Oreos cuz I used to need the whole tray to find emotional stasis again. Our accomplishments are to be measured only by the person’s story who tells it. Full stop.
I messaged him back a “well I used to not be able to run at all” response and, even now, puke in my mouth cuz I could see in myself a need to still pleading for his approval of my journey or somehow justify why my milestone was a good and amazing thing to a random dude I’ve never met and only swiped right on. What does he matter? Why do I care about pleasing him?
Tumblr media
I bet with all that ego his dick is small and stroke game whack.
You don’t deserve to be inside me.
Not at all.
So in my mind, Republicans, hot German with blue eyes, big C church, and other self-aggrandizing douchebags are connected by this theme of not valuing people’s stories and journeys, of living in the should and the what’s-next. From the Republicans and big C church evangelicals, I hear the “Great, you’re no longer an alcoholic, but now you need to work on blah and blah in order for us to accept you and deem you good enough and worthy of Christ’s love and our fellowship.” And from douchebags like the blue-eyed hot German, I think I was supposed to be like, “Omg, you are so right. I am a slow runner. I will work and exercise more and more until I reach the level that makes you happy–oh you Tinder dude.” You, douchebag you, can now find yourself at the bottom of the waiting list of potential dudes who have earned the right and privilege to be between these thunder thighs that can run a 5k like a badass motherfucker. Y’all my ass in leggings looks so great and I’ll be damned if someone unworthy gets to glide his fingers across it and grab it with intention.
But, thanks to therapy, I don’t give a rat’s ass. Big C church, blue-eyed hot German, and self-aggrandizing breathing humans can all go fuck themselves.
Thanks, hot Germany runner, for forcing me to see me and know that I need nobody else to approve of my journey, chub, distance, and speed to the finish line.

Moments (Sashea) -H
AN: Hi there! Thank you so much for leaving notes on the last chapter, you were so sweet and it made so happy. It honestly means so much to know that I’m able to distract you for a little bit, and the fact that some of you are liking this story fills my heart with sparks and glitter, thank you!
Little disclaimer: this chapter is fluff, angst, and a bit of a sick fic all mashed into one. Hope you enjoy!
Summary: a collection of moments and memories, a journey through Shea and Sasha’s emotions as their relationship develops.
Chapter 4
One of the most beautiful effects of Shea and Sasha’s relationship was how incredibly close they had gotten.
There was an almost tangible energy buzzing around them, a deep psychological connection that would soon allow them to communicate in silence, through glances and light touches, each reacting to the other’s signals as if they were part of a secret language only the two of them had shared since forever.
Sasha had learned to recognize Shea’s nervousness by just the way she would push back her shoulders when confronted by a situation and although she knew better than to say anything, being Shea very capable of fighting her own battles, still one hand would promptly reach for her, just to rest on the small of her back, which Shea had learned to recognize as Sasha’s way of manifesting her presence and support, immediately calming her down.
They had gotten amazingly comfortable around one another, too, bodies and minds fitting together perfectly.
It worked, they worked, because there was the purest sentiment at the heart of their relationship, the most sincere love either of the two queens had ever felt.
It was love that got Shea out of bed even in the mornings when she missed her family and Chicago the most, because wherever Sasha was, there was a little bit of home.
It was love that made Sasha not mind working twice as fast and twice as hard to fit her working schedule with Shea’s and have free time together.
It was love that made them hold on even when they had to travel and part for weeks on end.
It was love that made any obstacle between them surmountable simply because there were each other on the other side of it.
But of course, every rose has its thorn.
Falling in love with someone means getting to know all of their flaws, too.
Now, the core of Shea and Sasha’s relationship was accepting those flaws. Taking them in because they were as much a part of their personality as any cons could ever be, never wishing to change anything in either of them, but even that, even love, didn’t mean those flaws would disappear.
They were still there, and they hurt.
Shea had never met someone like Sasha before, and something she had had to discover, for instance, was how intense Sasha could get to be.
Not that she didn’t love it! She did, immensely so, because Sasha was intense in many ways that made Shea feel alive.
All day she would wait for their nightly heart-to-hearts, in which they would spend hours talking about themselves, about life, about feelings. Shea really felt comfortable in those moments, thoughts and ideas flowing freely between them.
In retrospect, Shea had met a few people like Sasha, people who came from a similar background as hers, and yet, they weren’t quite the same.
The one thing that had struck Shea the most, was how Sasha wasn’t an elitist when it came to knowledge. So many people Shea had met in her life had made her feel inferior, unworthy, discarding her ideas only because of her social status or the color of her skin.
Sasha saw right through that.
Sasha was intense in a way that she wanted to go beyond appearance and explore Shea’s mind, always listening close and carefully to anything Shea had to say, asking her for her opinion, reflecting on her inputs. Sasha never put herself above Shea, even when she would get lost in topics Shea didn’t understand, the “brainy queen” would always have time and a kind voice to explain them to her.
Sasha was also intense in a way that made her immediately catch on to Shea’s insecurities, and she never missed a chance to remind the younger queen that no, she wasn’t boring, and no, the difference in their level of education didn’t make her any less interesting.
“What you think matters to me, Shea.” She would often tell her. “You opened up a world of feelings and emotions that I have never known, and no master class could ever teach me that.”
It made Shea feel appreciated, wanted, motivated to explore their relationship further and further, to plant lots of little seeds in Sasha’s heart and make them blossom into flowers just as beautiful as the ones Sasha had planted in hers. She felt loved, which made her love herself a little more, and she was so happy life had finally given her something that could bring her such positivity, she just wanted to scream it to the world.
But not every day was a good day.
Some days, the whirlwind of their emotions would spin a little too fast, and even foundation as strong as the one they were building wasn’t strong enough to handle it, shaking their harmony.
When Shea got too emotional, there were Sasha’s words always hitting the right spot and bringing her back to reality.
When Sasha started over worrying, there were Shea’s hugs reminding her to stop thinking and start feeling.
But when they both got into their heads, when neither of them could pull the other out, a balance was harder to find, and they would only end up pushing each other down even deeper.
The wheels in Sasha’s mind never stopped spinning, she was analytical, anything she did was thought through, any situation deconstructed and rearranged, but she was also an artist, emotionally driven, sensitive. When her thoughts took a dark turn, even for someone so rational, their path wasn’t always easy to correct.
That was when the gears in her brain sometimes clogged.
She wasn’t impulsive enough to completely let herself go and let everything out, and she wasn’t firm enough to not get caught up in her feelings.
So as much as she was open with her emotions, it had to be at her own pace.
“Sash, is everything alright?” –  “Yeah Shea, just tired.” So she was stuck putting on a smile, trying to buy a little more time, wanting to deal with it on her own, needing to be able to compartmentalize, understand whatever she was feeling, solve it.
Telling herself that by continuing thinking about it in her own head she would find a key before putting whatever the problem was out into to world to get lost.
It was all unconvincing, even to herself.
Truth is, she didn’t really know what she needed sometimes, so the next best thing was finding distraction, usually her art and her work, which she would throw herself into, until her inner disturbance would eventually will itself away.
Shea, on the other hand, knew exactly what she needed.
Shea needed to know.
Shea needed to help, to be there for Sasha. She would always be ready to drop anything and anyone right there and then and run to her lover if she needed to.
It was just how Shea was, she gave everything she had, she loved with all of her soul, and she did it because she wanted to. She did it because she knew neither herself nor Sasha depended on one another, she valued their independent strength as the base of their relationship, and she wanted to help Sasha reach there where she couldn’t by herself, be the shoulder to cry on that she couldn’t provide herself with, just like Sasha did to her.
So as much as Sasha tried to not let anybody in sometimes, Shea had become able to understand when something was starting to go wrong in the New Yorker’s head, and she couldn’t stand it.
She couldn’t stand to see her sitting on the windowsill with her knees hugged to her chest, quietly staring out the window.
She couldn’t stand the forced smiles that didn’t reach her eyes.
She couldn’t stand to not be allowed to at least try and help her, to at least know what was wrong and lend a comforting hand.
When Sasha started to drown herself in her work she would shut everything else out, focusing so hard to distract herself from her problems that she would often end up distracting herself from too much else.
And that was when Shea’s gears would clog, and she would find herself stuck, too.
She would start seeking all of those answers that Sasha wouldn’t give her in the dark corners of her own mind, sometimes not realizing how far from the truth they could be.
The atmosphere between them would keep on hold for a couple of days, each queen fueling her individual fire, until finally, everything would erupt.
“Why are you being like this, Shea? You’ve countered every single thing I’ve said.” Sasha was becoming exasperated, the tense air that had established in the room getting more and more tangible.
“What more confirmation do you need about this? You’ve been working on it for a week, Sasha!” Shea, though, had straight up reached her limit.
Sasha had been retracting into her shell for almost two weeks, claiming she absolutely needed to work on this one article for her next issue of her magazine, and Shea knew she just needed space, Shea knew Sasha wasn’t doing it on purpose, but it was too late to back down now, neither had spoken up when the air was calmer, and now that it was all coming out Shea couldn’t control herself.
“I could have finished it today if you hadn’t started shredding it to pieces.” Sasha sighed.
She needed more time, she wasn’t ready yet.
“Write it all over again then, maybe now you’ll have a real excuse to work.” Shea was annoyed. She needed to get a reaction out of Sasha, anything. “The magazine is coming out in a month, it’s ready, why do you need to bring this article back up when you know you have nothing to fix on it?” She had meant well, at the beginning of the day, knocking on Sasha’s door with breakfast and smiles, but then all they had talked about was this line, that line, this picture, that reference.
The more Sasha avoided any other subject, the more Shea convinced herself that the voice in her head was right.
“You’ve been avoiding me, Sasha. Are you trying to send me away?”
That, right there, was Shea’s thorn.
She had grown stronger and more confident then when she was younger, but sometimes even the fiercest creature needed protection, because without reassurance, Shea would start blaming herself, finding ways to explain others’ behavior by putting it on her shoulders.
Sasha’s head shot up to look at her, her expression transforming from one of anger to one of concern, her walls crumbling in front of Shea’s pain filled eyes.
“It’s not that Shea, oh my god.” She said softly, remorse evident in her tone. “I love you, I don’t want you to go away, I never meant to avoid you.” She paused. “I’ve been stuck in my own head lately and I didn’t know this is what you were feeling, I’m so sorry.”
Shea took a tentative step towards the older queen, who now looked like realization had hit her all at once.
“Then talk to me baby, what’s wrong?”
So they talked and talked, both realizing that the only way to not hurt the other was by opening up.
Sasha told Shea how she had been feeling insecure and nostalgic lately, how she had gotten into a cycle of overworking and overwhelming herself, how she had started second guessing all of her projects, the pressure from the close deadline getting to her.
They held each other’s hands, both profoundly apologizing, because Sasha had been so blind that she hadn’t even considered how much this could have affected her lover, and because Shea had transferred her insecurities onto Sasha, when in reality they were only in her own head.
They spent the rest of the day putting anything else aside, just cuddling, kissing, getting lost in each other’s eyes.
They made each other promise that they wouldn’t keep anything hidden anymore, that they would do their best to be open to one another, and they both tried, they really did.
But Sasha was still intense, she would still drown herself into her work and that meant that even if she had promised, she couldn’t tell Shea she was hurting if she wasn’t even aware of it.
It had started a few days before the release of the fourth issue of her magazine.
Sasha had been a nervous wreck, living off of adrenaline and excessive amounts of caffeine, sleeping no more than two hours a night, running all around the city to make sure the Nightgowns show would have everything it needed to be perfect.
Every single inch of the magazine had been revised, every single performance had been rehearsed, hours and hours of worrying and stressing out finally leading up to the last day.
Shea had gone over to Sasha’s apartment with lunch, and when she opened the door she wasn’t surprised to find her in the same clothes she had left her in last night.
Her baggy clothes and light stubble made her look even more tired.
Sasha smiled sheepishly at her, always able to read her mind.
“Please tell me you did at least take a nap.” Shea sighed, but it only served the purpose of sending Sasha into a frenzy.
“I was going to but then I saw the red wig next to the white outfit and I wanted to move it next to the red outfit but I dropped the fucking thing and I literally had to restyle it for hours because it’s for-” Shea cut her off putting her hands on the desperate artist’s shoulders.
“Take a deep breath for me, darling.” Sasha complied. “It’s okay, you are going to be okay, we’re going to eat lunch, then you can go shave, take a hot shower, relax, I’ll gather everything up and we’ll be ready to go, how’s that?”
Sasha took another deep breath. “It sounds wonderful, thank you Shea.”
They ate in a comfortable, calming silence, but as they sat in front of each other, Shea couldn’t help staring at the older queen, details she hadn’t noticed before suddenly jumping to her eye.
“Babe, you look a little pale, are you sure you’re okay?”
Sasha looked up from the food she hadn’t really been eating, dark circles under her eyes more evident under the bright light of the kitchen. She looked even paler than she usually was, her cheeks seemed more hollow, every single inch of her body screaming exhaustion.
“Honestly, I’m incredibly nervous. I just want it to be out already, you know?” She got up from her chair, went to sit on Shea’s lap instead. “Thank you so much for being here boo, I don’t know how I would even function without you. I’m going to take that hot shower now, that okay?”
“Of course.” Shea placed a soft kiss on the New Yorker’s forehead and followed her with her eyes as she went into the bathroom, not missing the way her skin had felt a tad too warm under her lips, or the plate of food that had been left barely touched.
No time to think about it. Bringing anything up now would have only stressed Sasha ten times more, so Shea took a mental note to keep a steady eye on her the whole night through.
When the show started, though, Sasha had never seemed more alive, putting all of her energy into her numbers, smiling and laughing along with the crowd during her little banter, creating that magical atmosphere that so famously characterized her monthly show, and it was a success, the magazine being sold to the last copy.
So Shea put her guard down, letting herself get high in the hype of the night.
That was, until after the show ended, when she joined everyone else de-dragging in the dressing room, having just been outside to talk to some fans a little bit longer.
She was expecting Sasha to be celebrating, she was waiting for her loud cheers and bright laugh to fill the room, but among the other performers’ happy chatting, she couldn’t hear her lover anywhere.
She finally spotted her  standing still in a corner of the room, daily clothes on, face still fully beat. Her assistant, Vigor, had one hand of her forehead and one on the back of her neck, his face full of concern.
Shea’s mind immediately filled with worry, she was by the duo in a matter of seconds, Sasha leaning on her as soon as she saw her.
“I don’t know what happened, she seemed fine until five minutes ago, but as we were changing she just started shutting down.” Vigor explained, sharing worried looks with Shea for a second, until a whisper caught their attention.
“I need air.” Sasha was saying. She looked ready to pass out, her skin now ghostly white even under all that make up.
Vigor nodded at Shea, knowing the club was now his to take over, as she gently but firmly guided Sasha out the back door.
Fresh air hit their skin, Sasha’s mind seeming to clear out a little.
Still, she looked disconnected.
“How are you feeling?” Shea tried.
“Head hurts, dizzy, no energy.” Sasha’s voice came out a bit stronger, so Shea tried to pry more.
“How long have you been feeling like this?”
“Just now.” She thought for a moment. “Sick all day.”
“Oh, Sasha.” Shea put a hand on her cheek. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I didn’t even realize I was getting ill, I thought I was just stressing out.” Shea could see that a longer sentence took Sasha a bigger effort, as she was getting tired again.
“I’m gonna get Vigor to stay with you while I change, then I’m taking you home, can you hold on for a little longer?” Sasha only nodded in response.
As Shea got inside to quickly change she started piecing things together, instinctively feeling  guilty.
She should have noticed how little sleep her lover was getting, how stressed she had been. She should have been there to put her to bed when she would lose track of time. She should have been there to make her lunch and dinner when she would forget to eat. She should have been there to stop Sasha from pushing too hard and wear herself out. She should have seen the signs, but she hadn’t. Neither of them had.
When she went back outside Vigor had carefully removed Sasha’s make up, and they both helped her get to the car.
Sasha went limp the moment she sat down, fast asleep.
Never in her life had Shea driven so carefully, not wanting to startle the fragile human on the passenger seat, who looked sicker than ever, a combination of exhaustion, fever and adrenaline release hitting her, hard.
Shea’s worry kept growing and growing, but the moment she really knew things were spiraling out of control was when she gently shook Sasha awake to let her know they had arrived, and those usually sparkling blue eyes were now glazed over and unfocused.
She could feel her body heat from a distance.
Shea all but carried her to her room, changing her into comfier clothes. She called a doctor when things started escalating.
Sasha had gone from unresponsive to completely delirious in a matter of minutes, tossing the blankets on and off, she had started crying, breathing heavily, calling for her father, calling for Shea, probably not even aware of the fact that Shea was right there, that they were home.
Shea had never been more relieved when she heard the doorbell ring.
She watched the doctor give Sasha different pills, carefully listening to his instructions.
Keep her hydrated, run her a cold bath, put her to bed.
She kept repeating them like a mantra in her head as she saluted the doctor and want back to Sasha’s room.
She was now sitting up on her bed, looking uncomfortable but at least calmer than before.
She still didn’t seem to know where she was, but Shea talked to her either way, probably to steady herself more than anything.
“We need to get your temperature down, love. I’m going to take care of you, I’ll be here the whole time, okay?” She squeezed Sasha’s hand, and Sasha squeezed back.
So Shea started to follow the steps she had appointed in her mind, making sure to make the sick queen drink, while filling the bathtub with freezing water.
It was a long cold bath full of cooing words “Hold on baby, just a bit longer, you’re doing great.”, and soft, pained whimpers, Shea’s heart breaking a bit more as every single one of them escaped Sasha’s mouth.
When she finally pulled her out of the bath on shaky legs, got her dressed and carried her back on the bed, she kneeled down next to her and tried to assess the situation.
Her temperature had noticeably gone down, but she hadn’t stopped shaking, her breaths didn’t seem to be getting any steadier, and honestly, Shea was beginning to feel panicked.
“Should I go get you another glass of water?” She was getting frantic. “I should go get you another glass of water.” She went to get up but immediately stopped moving when she felt Sasha tugging at her shirt, weakly mumbling something.
Shea crutched down again. “What is it, baby?”
There was a beat of silence in which Shea thought her lover couldn’t even hear her at this point, until “Please stay.” she breathed out “I need you.”
Shea’s body reacted before her mind could even catch up, as she got under the blankets and cuddled next to Sasha.
There was an uncomfortable heat radiating off of her, but Shea didn’t dare move as she felt the other’s back muscles relax against her chest, her breath slowly but surely evening out.
It was a restless night for the both of them, Sasha still tossing and turning all night long, anxiously calling for Shea’s name every now and then.
“I’m right here, baby, I’m here.” Shea would be ready to reassure her every single time, whispering soothing words until she could feel her lover falling asleep again.
It took time, but as the medicine made its full effect, when they next woke up those deep blue eyes were finally focused again, and they were smiling up at Shea.
“How are you feeling?” She started caressing her cheek, Sasha immediately leaning into the touch.
“I feel better.”
Shea ran her another bath that morning, a comfortable one this time. Sasha let her eyes flatter close, relaxing under the younger’s soft and careful touch.
Shea was still intently watching over Sasha, whose skin was still pale, but upon seeing a sweet, content smile grow on her pink lips, she decided that she was never going to let her feel alone.
Sasha had never looked so out of control like she had in those tense hours, she had never looked so lost and helpless.
Shea thought about the way Sasha had said she needed her, that night, for days afterwards. She had looked so honest in that moment, even as incoherent as her high fever had made her.
Shea wondered if she remembered it, if she knew she needed her, until one day Sasha asked her to move in with her, and that’s how she knew she remembered.
It was not a decision to be made lightly, but Shea was not embarrassed at how fast she had said yes.
She was going to keep true to her promise.
She was going to watch over Sasha, help her get to the places she couldn’t get to alone.
This was another new beginning, and Shea was ready for it.
AN: Before I go, in case anybody didn’t know, Vigor is Sasha’s actual assistant, super cool Drag King, 10/10 would recommend checking him out. Again thank you so much for reading this. I think I have 2 more chapters to go, it’s still a work in progress, so let me know what you think, and untill next time, have a lovely life! Ciao!

1:39am - 2:22am
I haven’t really felt like writing lately. I’ve been too scared to express my feelings. I mean... I wouldn’t say “scared”, it’s more like I’m not allowing myself to “tell the tale”, or to “preach”. This is going to be pretty long but thats alright. It’s not like I’m expecting anyone to read this. I just need some place to write all this.
On social media I come off as this person who is always positive, confident, have different views on life. AND DON’T GET ME WRONG, I am all that and more. I love my aspect on my life. I love who I am and I love what I believe in and the energy I bring out into the world. However, a part of me is pulling back from it. Not because I want to, but when you have an anxiety disorder - theres not much you can do.
I am so grateful for every little happiness that is involved with my life - relationships, friendships, family, etc. However, I’ll be lying if I said none of that, at one point, made me rethink about the decisions I have made to get this far. Now before I continue, I just want to point out that what I’m about to say isn’t something that I JUST thought of, but more so that I’ve thought of in the past and led me to where I am now... and maybe a few things I’m thinking about now.
My boyfriend is the best person I have come to know and love. He is the greatest human being that I know and I have never met anyone more like me... The only difference is, he overthinks. I don’t mean that in a bad way, but if I asked him a simple question like “is the heart a muscle or an organ?” he’ll get all philosophical and PROBABLY have a 3 hour conversation on that question alone. But thats why I love him. Because he can keep a conversation and even though I can’t get as brainy as he does, I still love to listen to him speak. His voice is amazing... Anyways, I would marry this man in a heart beat. Our fights last no longer than 5 minutes, even so, I can count how many “arguments” he and I had on 1 hand. He truly is my best friend. I love him so much. Okay - for the past few years, I have been “in love” with someone else for as long as I can remember. He obviously dated other people and thats cool, but when I started dating Josh, it was forgotten. And, not that I had a chance, but he was back into my life. And i got confused and I thought “timing” was a thing! I hated the universe for setting it up this way. But the universe had something planned for me. Eventually he and I became great friends. Josh and I lived our life like a normal couple and I told him about this guy about a month into our relationship and he trusts me, which is great. And now we’re a year into our relationship and I can honestly say, Josh has been more than just a lover, he’s my best friend. I can never love a man as much as I love him. I thank the universe so much for bringing him into my life at the time that he did. If in years from now, he and I SOMEHOW don’t work out... I’ll always love him. Goodness, I’m getting emotional... I probably shouldn’t say this part but, I will! Josh has told me about his past relationships and I never believed a word he said because I couldn’t believe how someone so PERFECT can be treated so poorly. He is so gentle and patient. And he is perfect. He’s so so perfect. I’m going to love him forever... thats the plan. To love him forever and to make him as happy as I can. He deserves so much and I am so happy for our little happiness.
Okay, on to the next chapter - My friends... they’re crazy. I love them. And I wish I can tell them what I’m about to say but I just cannot deal with the “arguing” and the negativity... I can’t do it anymore. I’ve gotten out of many friendships before and they were all just so dramatic. Sometimes I just wish it was okay to just LEAVE! Recently, we had went out and I had a good time... but there are things that were said that I just didn’t wish to hear... being rude to other people, not being positive or welcoming... I know I get depressed and I want to be able to talk to them, but all of those times are private. I can never say what they say in public, its just not me and it doesn’t make me comfortable. I’m not saying they’re terrible people. Because I still love them. With every fiber bone in my body... I just don’t see myself being around that kind of environment. And I’m not saying that I’m “better” or anything like that... It’s just simply not who I am. They’ve become just like my ex best friend... which is what I hope wouldn’t happen. And I still love her too, there are just things that I grow out of and that’s why I’ve been so distant. Sometimes just being alone or even with Josh, makes me a whole lot better... I always feel like I have to be somebody that I’m not. I’m tired of it. I want to just focus on my life and focus on what I want to do with it...
This is all that really is going on... if you’ve read all this, thank you for listening. I probably won’t do one of these for awhile.

So 5x18...
...Well hot d*mn.
Man when Supergirl fires on all cylinders...HOO BOY.
Case in point: *gestures to all of 5x18*
To be clear: I liked this one.
A WHOLE LOT.
Not that I disliked 5x17, necessarily. It’s just that 5x18 was more... Entertaining? ...I dunno. I dunno how to explain it.
...Okay yes I do and that explanation is: Someone remarked on Kara’s use of language and Kara overcompensated on the ‘NOooOOooOO I’m totally 100% normal!’ AND there was a musical quote AND it was WHILE TEAMING UP WITH ALEX TO FOLLOW A LEAD.
But I’m getting ahead of myself let’s backtrack...
TO THE TOWER! WITH ALEX! NIA! KARA! AND M’GAAAAAANNNNN!!!!!!
June Foray voice: WOULD YOU LIKE TO STAY FOREVER?!?!?!
I know I’m not the first person to make that reference but it’s always fitting and, for real, recurring character status WHEN. (I mean. Obviously I would prefer series regular but that feels like a big ask considering that all future TV production is...uh. Ah. Erm....
...Up in the air. At the moment.)
And then we check in with the Luthors and Non Nocere isn’t working???
Tumblr media
I am shocked! Shocked, I say!
And then we’ve got Obsidian doing something ill-advised which is basically the company’s MO at this point but KELLY AND WILLIAM ARE ON THE CASE REGARDLESS.
(So that’s kinda the one thing I’m sad about re: the Crisis reset; Andrea’s character development. But she’s sticking around for next season so I’m not too upset that she remains...kinda...one note for now.)
And THEN the library scene.
It was so gooooood.
Then Leviathan and okay. Alright. Okay. Huge points in this episode’s favor: Rama Khan feels like a far more significant threat. And I feel like 80% of that is the fact that they just let him wear normal clothes. Thank you, show. Thank. You.
Also the rock effects were way better in this episode because they weren’t footing the bill for a giant crossover episode this time around
I am a little confused, though, by what has and has not happened with regards to Rama Khan on Earth Prime. Did the pre-Crisis stuff...happen? The dialogue...kinda made it hard to decide one way or the other. ‘He hasn’t been seen on this Earth for 100s of years’ but then also, ‘a chilly place you know quite well.’ So...he...did go to the Fortress. And fight Kara? But...all that stuff before Crisis...???
...Not gonna bother with that right now.
POINT IS...Leviathan is finally like...invested in killing Supergirl* and menacing in a very real way which both raises the stakes and makes it personal and that’s way more interesting than ‘nebulous evil organization that must be stopped.’
*I know they kinda sorta already did the whole, ‘let’s kill the Kryptonian!’ and invaded the Fortress but I don’t know what to tell ya, it was just lackluster.
J’ONN AND M’GAAAAAANNNNN
I am firmly in camp: I don’t care if they’re never green again I love seeing them in the super suits with their human faces IT’S GREAT.
Love that Nia’s snoring interrupts the moment.
Also love the deck of Rama Khan playing cards, that must’ve been a fun project for the graphic designers.
Then we’ve got William and Kara at CatCo and it’s baked goods! A hilarious line delivery by Staz! A ridiculous fabrication involving a shy, violent cat!
...Now I want Alex to actually own a shy, violent cat!
“Cats love me, for some reason.” “Of course they do.”
Side note: Love Kara’s blazer.
And then it’s ALIEEEEEENS TO THE RESCUE!
WHAT A TEAM UP, FOLKS.
We love to see it.
The interrogation scene is good n’ tense and ramps up to a very impressive showdown in the DEO (but BEFORE the sparks really start flying we get that rad shot of Kara leaping through the window and doing the superhero landing and it’s just
Tumblr media
Perfection.)
Also perfect? Lex playing a game of transmatter pickle with the prisoners.
Then we jump back to the DEO where things are not going well!
Like, really really bad!
But J’onn and M’gann save the day! If not the building!
RIP DEO. 2016-2020
Obituary: The DEO headquarters is survived by its elder sibling, the DEO desert base.
Look none of the favs work there anymore save for Kara and Brainy and they’re both gonna be better off working freelance for J’onn but I do expect Brainy to at least pick up some additional cash by working as a Lyft driver next season.
Me, watching the characters struggle to make it in the gig economy: I feel so seen.
The final portion of the episode is just ALL ACTING and I must say...good stuff.
Like. This cast, man. They take the plot points I’ve been ‘meh’ about all season and they turn in some stellar performances and suddenly I’m like STANDING OVATION, CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHERE THIS GOES.
Also, reason #342 I love Jon Cryer’s Lex: that scene with Lena.
Terrifying.
Full disclosure: I went in to this episode fully prepared to be really annoyed with whatever was going to happen with Lena and I still don’t...love the trajectory of this season, being so tied up in her personal drama but.
But.
Katie McGrath’s performance...went an awful long way here. In making this...not as bad as it could have been.
Like tearfully admitting she was hurt? And that hurt was the basis of all the nonsense she pulled? Finally owning up to the fact that this was never truly about the greater good but that it was all rooted in some personal issues and OUTRIGHT STATING SHE WAS BEHAVING LIKE A VILLAIN????
I am. Extremely impressed.
EVEN MORE IMPRESSIVE THOUGH: Kara remaining distant both physically and emotionally throughout that scene! Not in like, a cold uncaring way, but in a, ‘I have emotions and I have a right to feel them and set boundaries in regards to my trusting you right now given all that has transpired’ kind of way.
GOOD. YES. GOOD.
(Lex’s outburst has that kind of same Nice Guy undertone--albeit more pronounced and rage-y--as Lena’s in the Fortress. Like, ‘I supported you and you still rejected my plot to take over the world’ and ‘I was kind to you and you still messed up my mind control’ which...I dunno I might just be digging in too deep here in order to further justify the character turn but I think Cryer’s performance regardless is a really sobering wake up call for Lena, different than Lex stuff we’ve seen before. It’s close and intense and uncomfortable in a way that really sells the motivation.)
“You’re a monster...but that doesn’t mean I have to be one too.”
Wow. Might be...the first time I’ve liked Lena all season.
...whispers: might be the first time I’ve liked her ever at all
For real: credit where it’s due, that was an excellent line read.
*insert applause here*
CUT TO ADORABLE J’ONN AND M’GANN MOMENT
D’aaaawwwwwwwwww
But, look, it’s a little undermined by the fact that they both gotta try and embrace in those bulky super suits, I’m sorry, it’s true
...Maybe it’s more endearing that way?
HEY remember how I foolishly assumed that the now-unemployed Alex would simply continue to work with J’onn in an investigative capacity and, ya know, NOT jump straight back into costumed badassery?
HA. HAHA HAHAAAA.
Those leaked set photos make sense now.
OH NO, WILLIAM!
Real glad Staz confirmed he’s returning. Otherwise I would not be able to DEAL WITH THE STRESS.
I already talked a little bit about the loft scene but some additional points! Beautiful lighting. Wonderful score. Excellent performances all around.
A truly great end to a truly great episode.
Like, it makes me retroactively sad, that we’re only getting 5x19, as opposed to 5x19 and 5x20 because I wish that the crew/writers/actors had a little more space to let all of this good work they’ve done settle and breathe.
(But also, it was good that they stopped production, from a safety standpoint, so. Can’t be too upset.)
And, regardless of how the next episode goes down (b/c I’m gonna be real, SG always does really great set-ups for their season finales and then kinda...rushes to the finish line and that can only be further exacerbated in this particular case) I’m just really impressed with this effort here.
...but also LET’S TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO MAKE SOME WILD GUESSES. Specifically, what is Alex’s vigilante name gonna be???
...
Alright I generally try to avoid addressing specific fandom complaints in these things b/c I generally try to avoid the fandom itself but of course some stuff has already leaked through all of my blocks/muting so:
‘Lena didn’t apologize!’ The words ‘I’m sorry’ were not said, sure, but 1.) season’s not over and 2.) for Lena, admitting she was wrong is huge. HUUUUUUUGE. It’s solid character growth and I really wish various subsets of fandom would recognize that it’s not fun, when fans hold on to negative stuff from characters’ past and refuse to acknowledge that the characters have changed.
‘Brainy should have seen this coming!’ This one is kind of more down to personal preference I guess but I feel like they’ve established that Brainy’s got a bit of a blindspot due to his feelings about his friends, so I don’t take this as a knock against his intelligence so much as him being stretched fairly thin because he’s playing all sides, and worried about the people he loves. YMMV, though.
All the ‘fix-it’ stuff re: the last scene, by making Kara immediately forgive Lena. Lose me with that nonsense, bleh.

Hannah Watches LOSH - Man of Tomorrow
This is my start on what will be a one episode-per-post re-watch and review/analysis of Legion of Superheroes. I am going to go through all the episodes of both seasons, and when I finish the show, I will also go into the comics afterward. I will try to aim for once a week at minimum, but that depends on school. The reviews will be made while I’m watching, with much pausing and commentary being made and screenshots being shown, and a final word at the end on both the episode overall and the characters.
I will also be comparing my view when I first saw the episode vs now. Also please keep in mind I did not start with the first episode when it aired. And these will all have my opinion alone, and if you have any feedback/comments you want to give, go ahead ^^
So, let’s start of with the first episode.
Man of Tomorrow
So we first get the preview of the Legion fighting the Fatal Five before cutting to Clark Kent during his last night in Smallville before going to Metropolis.
Watching this again, it struck me that Clark probably didn’t get the best support from his parents on the super power part.
What do I mean? Ma Kent said “Just please be careful. Remember Clark, your not like the rest of us.” Which he replies with “I know.” Now in the animated show most people are familiar with, the superpowers came into being around high school. But his parents seemed to have handled it rather well, as does Clark in the end, and he is given a device that has a message from his birth parents to give him an explanation. But here that’s not the case. I think it’s more likely that the parents were less ready to deal with superpowers, and god, given Clark didn’t know squat about Krypton as evident in the comics that tied into the show – will go into that eventually, who knows how well Clark was dealing with the powers when they first came up. Probably much worse than in the Superman animated series.
Speaking of parents, noticed that Pa was not in the episode. Where is he? Is he dead in this version? Ho geeze, adds to the stress the poor guy must be under.
And then we get our time bubble trio aka TBT: Brainiac 5, Saturn Girl, and Bouncing Boy. I wonder what the decision process was behind them. Which will be discussed in a bit.
Cutting back to the fair, we get more evidence of Clark not dealing the best way with his powers after a Jock taunts him and his physical abilities. He is getting ready to toss the ball, recalls Ma’s words. And god, the facial expressions now have the ability to pick apart my heart now.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Just. Ow.
And then comes the trope-tastic faulty Ferris wheel. I bet Grunkle Stan branched out to this fair.
And then we get back to the TBT. What do you mean food on a stick is not normal?! WHAT DO YOU DO FOR POPCICLES?! COTTON CANDY?! CANDY APPLES?!
Tumblr media
Wait, how did he get that food? Was it samples? Or did the trio steal it?
I couldn’t help but snicker at Brainy’s and Saturn Girl’s expression at Bouncing Boy. Imma have to go with “stealing”
Also, what performance would the TBT be part of? I mean, I understand cosplay at a convention, but they look a little off the mark at the fair for me. But I would totally pay money to see that performance.
Tumblr media
And it happens.
Tumblr media
The beginning of what was one of the many triggers in many for shipping a gay ship.
When I first watched this show, I was in elementary. I was having some curiosity towards gay ships – I was in a very heavy weeabo state, and especially into CLAMP’s manga, which is filled with LGBT characters. I was also going through a bit of a religious phase, and my parents aren’t the most accepting people, especially back then. So I was scared by possibly shipping anything that wasn’t deemed right. I wouldn’t go bashing in public, but I wouldn’t confide with others. I wouldn’t really support the LGBT community until high school.
But now, I can fully appreciate the show and what it tried to do. The storyboards probably have more representation for the LGBT community by far, but still, I will take what I can get with this show… THAT’S A LIE I WANT THOSE STORYBOARDS.
Gotta appreciate the dramatic music that comes with the scene as well.
Tumblr media
Look at those two concerned guardians.
Now back to Clark.
Given my earlier talk with him and his powers… THIS BOY MUST HAVE HAD A HEART ATTACK WHEN BOUNCING BOY SPOKE TO HIM. HE WAS CAUGHT. YET HE GOES “EVERYTHING IS FINE HERE,” AND PROCEEDS TO SWOOP IN WHEN THE THING STARTS TO FALL APART. KUDOS TO MY BOY IN HOLDING HIMSELF TOGETHER.
Tumblr media
GRUNKLE STAN YOU HAVE A LOT OF EXPLAINING ON THE STATE OF THAT FERRIS WHEEL.
Tumblr media
Saturn Girl, I don’t think now is the time for intros.
Pfft, BB is confused by this as well, to the point where his animation is a wee bit off.
Tumblr media
And then he proceeds to walk behind Clark and… what’s the best word for this…
Tumblr media
WHAT A PRECIOUS FACE THAT FOLLOWS THAT SILLY BOING NOISE. AND THE WAY HE SAYS “help?” AFTERWARDS IS SO CUTE. EXPRESSIONS IN THIS EPISODE ARE SO GOOD.
Tumblr media
I never realized how big Bouncing Boy could get.
Clark starts to nope out, and Saturn Girl said she did the same thing when she saw Bouncing Boy to do that as well.
Tumblr media
And cue more internal panicking for Clark.
So, did Saturn Girl like did the whole fair a mind wipe, or just the guys who were witnesses?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
More gayness, both sides.
Tumblr media
And Clark has a gay panic.
Which will eventually turn into “I’m not Straight” in the future. I’ve been through that phase my boy.
Tumblr media
Saturn Girl looks like a mom here, telling the kids to stop flirting atm.
Tumblr media
Oh man, Clark asking them not to tell anyone about the super power thing. What a heart breaker.
“It’s okay. We know all about you.”
Tumblr media
Wow, great conversation starter B5, totally not sounding like a stalker.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
BRAINY WHY DID YOU CUT OFF BOUNCY?! JEALOUSY?! LOOK AT THESE GOSHDARN EXPRESSIONS.
Tumblr media
Good job B5, weirded out your crush.
At least Saturn Girl knows saying “Coming to the future” sounds crazy.
Tumblr media
“Clark!”
Tumblr media
“Wait!”
Oof. My heart at his voice.
Tumblr media
And Cool Mom has to step in.
Tumblr media
He looks like a kicked dog at this frame.
Let us appreciate how immediately when Saturn Girl says “Let’s just give him some time,” the episodes is edited so that they show up in the kitchen at his house.
Tumblr media
So Saturn Girl has a coffee mug, Bouncing Boy has pie, and nothing for the green child. Oh, and embarrassment for Clark.
Well, okay, B5 kinda looks like an angry kid who’s upset their BF is an hour late to the date.
And the introduction the do at the home seems to be much smoother at the fair. Think they did rehearsals waiting for Clark to get home? Did they switch out constantly? And how far did B5 take his crush with the rehearsals?
But Clark defiantly has a lot of self-doubt at the idea of him being a super hero. He uses his powers for good, but he definitely lacks the confidence that he’s good enough for it. He laughs it off at first, then seems a little angry and scared at how much they knew about his powers. Reminds me now of Yuuri Katsuri. And given how little confidence I have had in the last few years about myself, I can further appreciate him now than what I did back then.
Clark was very tempted in coming at “Come with us and you won’t have to hide them anymore.” It’s like getting a safe place to come out, finally, after years of being told that it’s safer to hide himself. Further more appreciative with time for me.
Tumblr media
Wow, B5 looks so demanding here.
(Where did they keep that time bubble tho?? It just appeared out of nowhere?)
I kinda laughed at the part where Ma goes “Take a sweater!” then comes down stairs, confused at what he said. “Future?”
Tumblr media
I like the atmosphere of New Metropolis in this show. Good use of complementary colors in this shot.
Tumblr media
AND THANK ****ING GOD LOOK AT TRIPLICATE GIRL IN HD HER SKIN IS DARKER
I CRY BLOOD AT THE FACT THAT THE FACT SHE WAS SUPPOSE TO BE MUCH DARKER AND THEN SHE CAME OUT SO PALE IN SD QUALITY THANK GOD FOR HD
Granted the concept art of her gave her darker skin but SHE’S SO BEAUTIFUL WITH DARK SKIN
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here we have Queen Sinnamon Roll and Lighting Trash Baby, who PG proceeds to sass out with an eye roll and reality, and then has Trips back her up. Positive female friendships, that’s an instant gold star.
Tumblr media
What a jealous baby, getting phased through and shoved aside. Thinking back to the jock we saw earlier, I find it interesting that Lightning Lad was made to fit that image on the first episode. Interesting move. Perhaps it was to show the character development as we went along?
Tumblr media
The girls look so disappointed that the skinny Superman came out instead of some muscular guy. Personally, I prefer the skinny Superman design. Muscular guys just don’t seem as attractive to me as often. Might have something to do with that I find myself attracted to girls more often. But I love all girls, and buff girls are on the list of those I am weak for, so I’m just further confused. Maybe I just need another 10 years to figure this one out.
And when Lightning Lad proceeds to poke fun at B5 and Clark…
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Brainy looks like a cat who is planning his demise. I had cats for a little over ten years. I know this look. Brainy is giving him the look that says he will murder him in his sleep. Painfully.
And then Lightning Lad proceeds to be a jerk, doing the last thing Clark needs: degrading him on his powers. After everything I talked about earlier, this hurts me in the hard. Trash Baby will be sent to the garbage pit as required.
We cut to the Superman museum, where Saturn Girl brings Clark to speed what’s going on, explaining who the Fatal Five are.
While watching this episode, I realized how much emotional support and guidance Saturn Girl provided for those in need – particularly B5 and Clark in this one. And she doesn’t seem to need to read their minds to figure out what they are feeling. So really, that is really thought provoking. Maybe she studied psychology or hosts therapy groups. In any case, it makes her far more interesting as a person.
I’m kind of interested to see what the military forces were like in this show’s universe, given that they were deemed not available for help against the Fatal Five. How restricted are they? Is there restrictions based on international laws? And as for the Science Police… well, I’m going to discuss that in a future episode.
Okay so tallying up the other legionnaires who were mentioned when the code red was sent out. Shrinking Violet was undercover, Colossal Boy is on Rawl (did I spell that right?), while Cosmic Boy, the leader, is at the outpost, where it is commented he won’t make it on time. Good god, they were spread thin. Just how much shit is going on elsewhere?! Just leave less than ten people at the HQ where one of the biggest problems will find them. NOT A PROBLEM AT ALL.
So the Fatal Five show up, and at least the police try to do something, but still get their asses kicked. A for effort.
And what does Clark do when confronted with his first Comic Villain fight? At first he seems like he’s running away. Leaving the Legion to get their butts kicked. But instead he’s getting the costume, and tries to fly. He’s taking a step forward to define himself as someone who can help. He’s becoming Superman.
But how did that costume just suddenly adjust to the tinier frame? Krypton Science?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And what about his hair? It changed too! It just popped out that signature curl!
Regarding the fight, there are several things I noticed: Triplicate Girl can be forcibly merged back into one singular being, and all three of her can carry Persuader and PG with the ax. Validus chased Bouncing Boy like a dog, which was kind of funny. Lightning Lad abandons his original opponent during fight to go help his teammates, and manages to resist for a while. And then he gave Superman tips in fighting. Saturn Girl is the first to break out of the control, and uses her powers to free the others. B5 has strong robot muscles (what’s the mechanical equivalent?)
Tumblr media
Also, I think I should thank this episode for giving the idea of the ax for a weapon in the SU AU i work with, since she got to hold it several times in the episode.
Now regarding the villains, honestly the only one who I find of any interest is Emerald Empress. She was just so causal to Superman when she sees him in costume, and sounded disappointed at the small number of the people who came to confront her team, which gives her some character. Also, I heard somewhere that she is a lesbian. If anyone has a source that can confirm, I would appreciate it so much, cuz I need more queer ladies in my life.
Tumblr media
Post fight, Lighting Lad says he knew Superman could do it, only to get the look from everyone. Karma much?
Tumblr media
And we see sad Brainy when he says Superman has to go home.
But then Superman is the one who proposes he stays.
And as one last boot to the episode, Superman steals what Lightning Lad’s spot during flight with Brainy’s help. Continuing Karma on the trash baby.
Tumblr media
So final thoughts on the episode overall.
It’s a good start the first season, definitely. But I feel there could be better execution. Like the first bit can get people to think that the fight happened before the Legion went to fetch Superman. Like only some of them managed to get away from the Fatal Five, and realize they need help in rescuing the rest of the Legion. That would be more interesting for a first episode, to me anyway.
Villains could have used more development.
Maybe seeing a bit more of the life back at Smallville would have been nice as well.
And how did that decision for the Time Bubble Trio/TBT go? I know B5 probably demanded to go, justifying he was the one who built the device. And wanted to see Superman first. But why Saturn Girl and Bouncing Boy? Did they draw stick, or was it based on the idea that they are probably the most responsible of the group? TELL ME~
But given what we got, I love it. The members of the legion are fun to watch, and it’s a good take on the younger Superman, and the interpretation I got out of the episode was so much deeper than what I got when I was younger.
And kudos out to the staff in trying to squeeze that gay stuff in.
Characters in this episode:
I really like Superman/Clark’s personality here. I can relate to it now better than how I did when I was younger. And now the experience seems like a parallel to finding a safe place to come out. Gold. Star.
Brainiac 5 was nice to see, crushing on Superman. We discover more of him personality wise later on, but it’s so good to see the gay game getting on this early.
Saturn Girl – god I love how she’s so emotionally aware of others in parts of this episode. This girl is definitely someone I would talk to during a hard time.
Lightning Lad… thank god for later character development. He’s a lovable brat here, but needs that character development stat.
Bouncing Boy is a delight. Such goodness in a person. An early-version of Hunk from Voltron. Good emotional support as well.
Seeing the sass that just oozes from Phantom Girl is a joy. My beautiful daughter.
And Triplicate Girl… THANK GOD YOU ARE NOT AS PALE HERE IN HD AS YOU WERE IN SD. I feel that we could have seen more of her and PG, but I really love how they got along in the HQ before the TBT got back.
The villains. Not much to say other than what I said about Empress earlier and that they needed development overall. Sorry.
Well, that’s all for this episode! Hope this was a good read for you all! lemme know if i should put any under a Read More bar.

18 - Aizawa
Kaori Shinsou has always been fascinated by people’s minds. She is one of the best students in her Criminal Psychology course at U.A. and - being the lucky girl she is - her professor is not only one handsome dude, but is also working on the case of the serial killer Stain - a case that has been going on for years. As she is about to become Professor Aizawa’s TA during the next term, a lot of other interesting cases start popping up all over the country…
Hey, can you meet me tonight in detention?
(Melanie Martinez - Detention)
Shouta Aizawa had to stay late today for any students that had gotten detention. He hoped to God that there were none. These people should all be adults and should know how to behave themselves. Why they even had anything like a detention period was beyond Aizawa.
Maybe it was a planned thing to give teachers some free minutes once in a while where they could sit down in a quiet room and do their work without being disturbed by something all the time. Aizawa enjoyed watching over the students in detention because there were rarely any of them.
And today he had a lot of work to do, as it was. He had gotten his bandages taken off after the Sports Festival and now was the first day of school after and the first years were supposed to go on internships. There were a lot of things to sort through for that. And he still had Hitoshi Shinsou's file.
He was trying to figure out how he had managed to screw up the entrance exam so badly that he hadn't been able to get into Criminology. Of course, his scores for the physical assessment weren't great at all, but his entrance exam was almost immaculate. The whole system really wasn't fair for the more brainy people.
With a sigh Aizawa tried focussing on the list with his first-year students. Being a course coordinator sounded cool and fun until he tried it. Now he was stuck with the job and a new class every couple of years. He read over the names on the list and who had already decided on an internship... Uraraka, Iida, Todoroki, Bakugou... why did he have to sort out all this stuff for them?
His eyes wandered over to the other paper. Hitoshi Shinsou's file. He was doing exceptionally well. In his student ID photo he had the same tired eyes as Kaori Shinsou. It was very obvious that they were siblings. Looking over the file, Aizawa was aware of what Hitoshi was trying to do. He was trying to get into that course that combined Criminology with basic training.
He definitely had the brains, that much was clear. He'd have to exercise more, get more training. He did really well in the Sports Festival, though. Maybe he could offer... no. It wasn't his business, why should he be wasting time on it? He was busy enough as it was already.
He looked back at the list of his other students. The letters seemed to blur in front of his eyes. He just couldn't focus, no matter how hard he tried. And he knew when he got home there were more papers waiting for him, papers on Stain and papers on that arson the other night and he'd have to get them done and then collapse with exhaustion at some point between 2 am and 5 am.
That's when he heard a knock on the door. This wasn't true, was it? Who the hell was dumb enough to earn themselves detention? All the students were at least 18 years old, why would anyone do anything outrageous enough to earn themselves detention? Aizawa took a deep breath.
"Come in." he said. The door opened slowly and a familiar figure waltzed into the otherwise empty classroom. Messy bun of dark hair, tired eyes, lithe but feminine figure and a bunch of papers and notebooks in her arms.
"Shinsou? What the hell are you doing in detention?" Aizawa asked her. He really had expected better of her.
"Fell dead asleep in Ishiyama's class. I tried to explain, but he was having none of it." Shinsou said, sounding tired and exhausted and even a little ashamed about being in detention.
Thinking about it Ishiyama had been in a foul mood all day. Who knew why that was. Sometimes he just had... a certain moodiness about him. Of course Shinsou shouldn't be falling asleep in class, but... he could easily understand how tired she had to be. She basically collapsed the other day and Aizawa couldn't imagine that she had gotten much sleep since.
"Ishiyama, huh? How long did you get detention for?" Aizawa asked. Shinsou took a deep breath. All of this seemed to really be eating away at her. Aizawa couldn't remember seeing her in detention a single time, except that one time when she and a group of other students got blackout drunk on a class trip in her first year. Since then Shinsou had learnt not to get caught.
"The... the rest of the week, Sir." she said, lowering her head.
"Don't worry about it. I'll talk to Ishiyama first thing tomorrow morning. He probably isn't aware what stress you've been under lately. Just sit down for now and do some assignments or whatever you have to do." Aizawa told her.
"Thank you, Sir." she said and sat down in the first row. She sorted the loose papers she had in her arms into three piles and pushed them to the top of the desk. Then she took out her notebook from her bag and turned it on. Aizawa was watching her curiously - the way her thin, lithe fingers wandered over the keyboard, the way she reached out back and got a pencil that she had wedged into her bun earlier, the way she bit her lip while she was looking over some papers, tapping the pencil against her cheek.
Kaori Shinsou was just too much right now. He liked her, yes, but maybe he had just gone a little too far with that. He had been tormenting her about her assignments, even though they were immaculate - they could be improved if she did them in one go and left some time for editing, but they were still much better than anything he had seen from this class. He had been getting her and her brother through to the school building when all the reporters suddenly showed up. She looked so graceful and fragile with the way she moved through every little opening she could get without saying anything or showing much emotion towards the press.
He had seen the way her eyes shone with excitement when she had seen those files. It was like he could see her brain working quickly and efficiently. And the whole incident during the rescue training? When he realized she was going to go in and fight, he was in a good mind to expel her, but the way she had held her own back there...
Honestly, Aizawa couldn't remember a time when Kaori Shinsou hadn't been his favourite student. No matter how much he liked to say that he wasn't playing favourites and didn't like it if anyone else did, she was the golden exception to the rule. Shouta Aizawa was in too deep and he knew it.
"What are you working on there?" he asked her. She looked up at him, almost accidentally dropping a bunch of papers on the floor.
"I still have to finish my profile on that arson the other day and I have a report about the whole Stain incident to write. Hirota's already got his done and I have to hand in both by the end of the week, but I've just been so tired all this time, I didn't really get around to it." she answered.
"Fuck. I hate paperwork. How far did you get with the profile?" Aizawa wanted to know. Shinsou shrugged.
"I have that one mostly done, so I'll most likely manage to get that one done at least. The Stain one will be a whole different beast." she told him, as she sorted through the papers. Aizawa nodded.
"Mind to share what you got so far? A summary?" he said. He wanted to know what her profile for that arson would look like. She had noted a good few interesting points at the scene already.
"Sure. I'd reckon a male, probably between 20 and 30 years of age. Would strike people as a little odd, possibly some moderate to strong antisocial tendencies. He seems to be angry at some aspect of society, most likely the LEPSC. Possibly has family relations to members of the LEPSC. He has a very sadistic streak, since his victims died in the fire. He didn't kill them painlessly beforehand. He wanted them to suffer. He has probably been committing arson many times before, possibly from a very young age. He'd either be unemployed or in a job where he doesn't have to deal with people a lot. His targets weren't primarily the people he killed in the fire, but the one remaining relative. I believe that his motive was to intimidate him or make him feel the pain of losing his family." Shinsou quickly explained, as if she knew it by heart.
She probably did. The profile sounded on point. The points were all the same way Aizawa had picked them himself. Hearing her give him a rundown on a perpetrator profile like this was music to his ears.
"Very good. You quoted proper evidence from the autopsy reports, crime scene analyses and the witness reports?" Aizawa wanted to know. That had been her weakness at the very beginning.
"I did as much as I could. Eye witness reports weren't really much to go by in that instance, and it seems like we haven't been able to pin down that guy I took pictures of, which is a shame, because I just... I just know that it's him. I know." she answered, giving him a frustrated look.
"Don't put too much in that theory. Confirmation bias is still very much a thing, even for you. Although I agree that he does seem suspicious." Aizawa told her. He looked back down at his list. Ashido, Asui, Midoriya, Kaminari, Kirishima... no. There was no way he could focus on this right now.
"And what about the Stain case? I suppose I'll be getting that report in the end, since Tsukauchi wants me to finally handle all the Stain-related incidents. You think it was Stain who attacked Iida?" Shouta Aizawa wanted to know. He was too curious about it. He needed to know what her opinion on that was. He had been calling the shots in that case for years and they hadn't moved one bit ahead, he was craving a new perspective, a second opinion, just to be sure he wasn't going in the completely wrong direction.
Shinsou looked at him with a thin smile as if she knew. She probably did. Somewhere in that pretty head of hers she knew exactly that he wanted her opinion on that case. Not Fukukado's opinion, even though she was always happy to disagree with him. Not the opinion of anyone else in the course or even the entire police force. He wanted her perspective.
"Well, it would be easier, if I knew whether there had been any letters yet or not, but... from all the crime scene reports and from Iida's own report, he is definitely Stain. And we even had him sit down with someone and got a sketch. Plus, judging from his usual pattern, it is extremely likely he'll be attacking in Hosu City again, this time going for the kill. He doesn't usually skip town without killing someone." Shinsou said with a twinkle in her eyes and a sly smile on her lips.
No. Oh, hell no. Aizawa knew exactly what she was thinking and it was not happening. He wasn't sure how to stop her, but he knew he had to somehow. Or at least keep an eye out for her. She was bound to get her hands on Stain - probably by working every single night shift in the Hosu station until he struck again.
"Shinsou, no. You can't be serious. Please tell me you're taking the week off." he replied, shaking his head.
"Even if I wanted to stay out of it, they've increased patrols so much that they wouldn't let me take a week off. And I want to be there when they catch him. It's bound to happen, I just know it. The space between his murders has decreased drastically lately. He can't wait too long." Shinsou said. Aizawa pinched the bridge of his nose. She was right. All of that was true. Fuck.
"You know how dangerous that's going to be, right?"
"I assure you that I am completely aware of that. It comes with the job. And I wouldn't have chosen this profession, if I didn't want to take the risk."
Aizawa nodded. He knew he'd have to make a phone call to Tsukauchi soon and ask him to get permission to work with the Hosu City department for this case. Chances were he'd be called there anyway, but he couldn't just let Shinsou out of his eyes. It was way too dangerous.
"What I'm about to tell you needs to absolutely stay between us. It's highly confidential information, but it's important you know this." Aizawa started. Shinsou looked up from her papers, a questioning look in her eyes. Aizawa knew she wouldn't tell a single soul, but he had to make sure.
"There were letters. I'm going to write my report on them today. In my opinion they are authentic Stain letters and they were sent in response to the Hosu incident. So when you go out there, I want you to be extra careful when you go to your work study from now on, until we catch Stain."
Shinsou's eyes suddenly looked very serious as she looked at him when he told her. It was like the entire situation had gotten to a whole new level. Finally, she nodded.
"I understand."

Going Beyond Face Value (#26)
In this episode, Larry and I go into the essential character of a relationship between facts, theories, and conspiracies. What differentiates our understanding of politics and why does it even matter. The truth is what I want to know and why aren't we hearing about it. That means looking at every avenue of ideas and considering all possibilities. Acknowledging that we are all raised within an identical society-under law, conditioned to follow in the suite to a higher power.
Now here is where problems start to rise, when we're unable to grasp who's authentic, also misinterpretation about misrepresented information. Which leads to accepting the truth. Its a back-and-forth debate over how we should interpret what's being presented to us as factual when we have no clue if there's an agenda behind what's presented. Even if we compare the different contexts and how the different contexts influence our interpretations- always leads into ambiguity, biased because no matter how it's interpreted there will always be a flaw-In all cases, there's always agenda behind the presented argument.
Political thought contains interchangeable concepts, defining this universal reasoning that's plastic within our mechanical mechanism.

You just never know how the day's going to turn out. Exactly. And that's why it's important to make sure you get that foundation because. I feel like once I have that in the morning, I can just face anything. Exactly, And without it the day, even if the day goes really well, it still seems a little out of order because for that morning ritual that morning habit, whatever we do, it's. [00:10:32] It's important. It is. And I'm trying to get the lady that I just started seeing the get on one of those. I think her life will be a lot less hectic. Absolutely. That's very true. I understand. And relate to that perfectly. Yes. What else has been going on this last week or so? Other than that. I [00:11:00] just, I had a lot of interviews actually. [00:11:03] I interviewed, somebody in Tokyo, Japan, I had one in Canada. However, she had to cancel and re Oh my God. I'm having a lot of these tongue twisters or these blank moments. Yeah. Reschedule. [00:11:25] And, so then there's that, then I have another one today, which of course with this guy, Jimmy Rex, you John entrepreneur guy. He also rescheduled on me and where's he out of? he is out of, I want to say, Los Angeles, huge. author slash entrepreneur and I just reached out to him, just winged it and he's sure, we can do that. [00:11:52] So rescheduling, have you ever, followed in your cat Lynn's stuff? [00:12:00] And Flint. Flint. Yeah. Pat Glenn. Yes. Yes. Smart, passive income. Yeah. Yeah. Interesting. Interesting guys got a lot of, a lot of really good tips, hints, for entrepreneurs as well as people in general. Yeah. I followed him for quite a while when I don't like about his information. [00:12:28] It's. It's so damn good that it keeps you wanting more. And then that's where the free stuff is over with and you gotta start forking money out. Exactly. Exactly. He delivers a lot of. Real value-packed, free stuff, if you will, but it's, it's, like the heroin dealer on the corner. He gives you that first fix free. [00:12:54] Cause he knows you'll be back and then yeah. Gotcha. Yeah. That's exactly right in a [00:13:00] positive way. Not, but a lot of the really good, people that deliver information. Operate on, on that same, model, because one, it works too. It's, a great marketing tool, not only for them, but you can transfer that virtually to any type of business or service, provide value at no cost. [00:13:29] And then people will naturally come to you because they look at you as a resource. once you're a resource and that person feels. Hey, that guy understands me and I feel comfortable with him. You probably have a client or customer for life unless you screw it up like 18 PS and spectrums and the large communication companies in the world, the large [00:14:00] insurance companies of the world. [00:14:00] I think they play Libby take liberties with their longterm existence. Customers. And that's my opinion for today. One of them now that's, it's interesting. I don't understand it though. As far as marketing and how to real people in. Cause I feel like it's almost manipulative in a way, but I know it's, something I need to adjust because I put a fine line between my character as far as. [00:14:32] Doing the right things. It's I took it to heart as far as following orders in away. And now I'm starting to see the gray areas and where it's acceptable and where it's not acceptable. What do you think? what do you think the difference is between manipulation and motivation? Motivation will be to inspire and motivate somebody [00:15:00] because it's for their own good. [00:15:03] They're just, they don't see it because it's, bigger than them. And you can see it because you have more experience or more knowledge and manipulation. that's. I think a monster in itself, but that's just to take advantage of them for your own benefit. Interesting. in, I think whenever I hear the word manipulate, I think of some sort of negative connotation, but sometimes when you really look at, the difference between motivating and manipulate it's to a fine line. [00:15:44] It's a fine line. Some of the motivational techniques aren't far off of manipulative [00:15:56] ways. We try to persuade people. [00:16:00] I think, but you hit it the most important part. I think you hit on the head in that motivation is for the benefit of the other person. Whereas for, the best of the other person, whereas manipulation may or may not take into consideration that other person or the other party or the other entity more selfish. [00:16:26] I want to get this person to do that for me because of my interests. Wait, are you saying, wait, what if it's the exact same thing, but it's just a perspective and how you look at it. what we talked about last time. It just depends. people, tend to feel that, and this is a generalization, but I believe, people tend to feel old school salespeople. [00:16:58] Picture of the used [00:17:00] car salesman with the big plaid sport coat and a white patent leather belt and shoes to match, or the big cigar in his mouth and a gold chain around his neck and backslap, and then, Hey, come on, okay. People tend to when you get that negative connotation of a salesperson and you might think manipulation versus. [00:17:23] Really professional salesperson that kind of asked a lot of questions, does a whole bunch more asking than telling. And then once he really finds out what your pain is, where your needs are if he's got the product or service to solve them. He'll propose those to you. And if everything went really well, you as the customer or the potential client will ask him, Oh, that's really cool. [00:17:54] What's the next step? How do I get that? What do I do now versus the [00:18:00] old school manipulation techniques were, these people were trained and here are the five best closes, and they spend a little time getting to know the person but spend an immense amount of time trying to close it, the person versus. [00:18:17] My little triangle works like that. And here at the base, the great big, broad base is you ask a bunch of questions. You get to know that other person, what are they need and how, what I offer fits into what motivates them, what helps them attain their goal. And then, that pyramid gets really small. [00:18:39] So when you get to the top, instead of worrying about closing you as the offer of services, don't have to close because. The person says, yeah, what do we do now? And I want him, I want, that. That's what I want. How cool is that? But then if we will look into the type of mindset that a car [00:19:00] salesman would have, a lot of them are working off commission. [00:19:03] So I think that's our ideal goal is to close the deal. I can see that. I just, I can't really see and wanting to help anybody but themselves, but that's, coming from me. Cause I grew up with a father who was a car salesman for over 20 years. yeah. And what I'm saying is even when, and I use a car salesman because very, almost everybody can relate to that picture. [00:19:32] I'm an old, funny movie is used cars. And, it's all built around this, generalization, the guy described because so many people can relate to them, whether it's on the car lot, or whether it's a door to door, high pressure, one call salesperson, so on and so forth. But professional salespeople are in every industry, [00:20:00] everything from, and this may shock some people, doctors, lawyers, Accountants engineers, all these people have to sell to get business, ultimately your marketing. [00:20:15] And then when you meet them because of effective marketing, whatever that marketing maybe, even if it's only the best marketing, which is word of mouth. Yeah. Susie said you designed their addition on their house and they really want it to be okay. That's that marketing that positioned the architect. [00:20:35] To get this potential client in front of them. And then he asked him a bunch of questions. He got to know them, or she got to know them and then built his or her presentation around their needs. So it's still if somebody [00:21:00] tells you they don't sell their line, Everybody is selling every day. The guy at the bar with the clever pickup line to the attractive gal is selling her on come home with me tonight. [00:21:15] The doctor that says, Hey, the only way we can fix your back is, I got to fuse these two lower discs. Really cause the chiropractor would say, there's no surgery necessary. And he would sell you on coming into adjustments three times a week. And then the natural healer would tell you, need to come to my yoga studio. [00:21:39] And then I got these special herbs and teas everybody's and I'm not saying anybody is in it for themselves, but the surgeon has no other way to heal somebody than to slice them open and do whatever he's going to do. And in order for him to stay in business, as much as we might want to [00:22:00] think that he's not in it for the money. [00:22:03] if you look at his house and his country club dues and his Mercedes, in his $500 shoes. Yeah. He, money is part of the motivation for him. There's more hopefully esoteric stuff there, but I really believe, selling is just communicating. And in motivating and some of the higher pressure salespeople may manipulate. [00:22:30] If in fact, you want to look at manipulation in, a negative connotation. So it's just, it's interesting. I would love to see those three in a room. I think that'll be interesting to a healer, a doctor, and or surgeon. And a chiropractor. I think that'll be a really fun conversation and listened to, but also the surgeon, as far as wearing the $500 shoes, that could be his own definition of [00:23:00] success as far as his work ethic. [00:23:02] And then we backtrack on everybody that's selling themselves. I think we're talking about their value proposition as far as we may work for a company that may be our profession. But ideally, we tailored our being around this type of delivery where accountability is number one. So when we were to look at a playbook and we go down the stats and see, Oh, we know Greg is sometimes late to his interviews. [00:23:33] He's usually five minutes short, but however, he is a nerd, he is consistently refining. We can count on him for that. I think, and what I've found life happens. So it's okay to be late every now and then, Yes. life happens. So you can't ever be too hard on yourself. Oh yeah. [00:24:00] That's very. [00:24:01] Hard to even fathom right now. What is it about why we as people are our most severe critics? Because we overestimate what reality really is. We catastrophize in our head the worst possible outcome, and none of that happens in reality. It's so true. And then what we perceive our reality is our perceived reality. [00:24:36] I think everyone's reality is their perception of this moment, of this situation. and many times their preconceived perception or notion is what causes procrastination or causes, whatever. Is causing them to face whatever the situation is. [00:25:02] [00:25:00] knowing you're not a news junkie, there was an interesting piece of news yesterday that go on the, almost for sure. Democrat nominee for president of the United States, Joe Biden announced his vice-presidential running mate. and that is Kamala Harris. Are you familiar with her at all? Neither would let's first, before we go any further, what, how do we, how do you feel about Joe Biden one? [00:25:46] And is he somebody. That's inlined with the type of character we were looking at last year or not last year. Last episode with, [00:26:00] John Lewis. [00:26:03] Yeah. I would say he's much more in line with John Lewis, then 45 is. Biden. It has served the country for 50 years, 45, 50 years in one capacity or the other, he, my thought on Biden. [00:26:29] Okay. To be real, to be really open and honest during the primaries. Before it was pretty much him. His vice-presidential Harris was my pick for the presidential candidate, even though it would be a real long shot for her as presidential candidate to win the presidency with Biden. As what I believe will be the [00:27:00] nominee for the Democrats. [00:27:05] Biden before he named his running mate offers the country and the country. Cause that's all it gets to vote on him. a very, direct change from what we have now. From chaos and narcism and no values and I'm in it for my own. Good. My own benefit in screwed the rest of you to somebody that has some humility, admits mistakes, is a leader, has leadership qualities. [00:27:55] has, has ethics [00:28:00] puts a few things before him or at least even with him, and, he knows his way around the international political realm also. so I'm happy with his knee as a person. I'm happy with his choice Harris. Harris has an incredible history. In the time she served the government. [00:28:31] She's an Indian black Senator of California. Prior to that, she was the first-ever female and black attorney general of the state of California, which. the trivia fact is that's the largest department of justice. She ran outside of the federal [00:29:00] department of justice. that's such a huge department of justice. [00:29:08] The only thing that tops it is the federal department of justice. No other state comes close to what she was in charge of. Oh, and she's very astute. If you watch, I know you probably didn't, but any of the hearings that she's participated in as a Senator, there's only, a couple of female senators, a few female senators, and she's, there's only, I think been one other black woman, female Senator in the country's history. [00:29:42] So there's, a lot of history being made right now, B because of his choice. And I think together, they offer a really strong team. And if Biden wins the election, if, [00:30:00] because of his age, that when the second term rolls around, Depending on his physical situation. If he were to step down, it would be easy for him to step down and hand the key to Harris. [00:30:16] And depending on what happened during those four years, she could very easily then become the first female. Okay. To be president of this country. What, for whatever. I think that's cool. is it important? I suppose from the standpoint that yeah, even you, the young lady can be president of the United States, even though some people now don't aspire to that because of what's happened in the last four years, opine, it's interesting that see, there's, a lot of things that are running through my head [00:31:00] is we have. [00:31:02] An upcoming election with a new individual and as any person would look in, say a dating world, you pattern recognize from previous experience experiences not to run into our date. Somebody that was a huge pain in the ass in your past. Now we have so much trauma in our heads that we have to. Really just dig into this individual who might seem like they have a hundred percent positive intentions. [00:31:41] And I think that's, I don't know. I don't, know what's going to happen with the outcome of that. And it does make sense as far as with he's choosing. I don't remember her name [00:32:00] to be his running mate. That is, that looks good. I said, but it just, seems to, it just seems like it's too good in a way, as far as what we have to that it's's like the ideal image of what America would want. [00:32:25] I agree with you. and I think there's a lot of people that are ready for that. When you look at the way the world looks now versus the way it did three and a half years ago, it looks a lot different in, many respects. One of the things here in our country that we've seen. w without trying to put a judgment on it and trying to stay as objective as I can, we've seen a lot of chaos, more chaos than ever. [00:32:58] And if you ask the [00:33:00] Democrats, they'll tell you it's the cause of the Republicans and Trump. And if you ask Trump in his. Followers, he, and they will tell you it's all because of the Democrats. and, that's part of the chaos is this crazy divided nation that we're in. And I don't really believe we've been this divided since the civil war, the division is deep. [00:33:28] It's hate kind of division. It's not. where two people can sit down and talk about their different opinions and why they support this person versus that person. It used to be, you could have those kinds of discussions. Nowadays, people lose friends and stop talking and seeing relatives because of, where they are on this, fulcrum, cause it's the crazy Seesaw thing. [00:34:01] [00:34:00] It just seems like it would be really nice to have some integrity and honesty and leadership, as honest as politicians can be, recognizing that there's a whole bunch of lying going on in politics. I get that, but not everything that comes out of your mouth is a lie. not everything that goes wrong is. [00:34:29] Because of the other team, not everything that goes right is because of me, my administration, I did this, this is the greatest economy in the world, no one would have foreseen it and just makeup stuff. 45 said I think it was last week. It might've been the week before. So if I've repeated this, it's just because it's so awesome. [00:34:57] Not in a good way, but [00:35:00] he was on the tarmac of the Cleveland or Cincinnati airport and was talking about Biden and how he's going to hurt this country. If Biden's elected, he will hurt the country. He will hurt the Bible and he will hurt God. he said those three things, the president of the United States. [00:35:23] Said that a potential candidate, because technically Biden's not even the candidate, but a potential candidate for the United States presidency will hurt God. Yeah. Whether you believe in God or not historically God's omnipotent. you'll talk to some people who will tell you, there's nobody more powerful than God yet Biden can hurt God. [00:35:51] Wow. I gotta tell ya if he's that powerful. Maybe we need him to calm everything down, and then [00:36:00] we'll deal with God later. I don't know. That's interesting. Are we looking at a shift in the type of presidential character? Like I believe with Obama, he is a peacekeeper. And then when we've had that, now we need somebody who's. [00:36:19] More towards war than now. Are we rolling? Rotating back down to peace. And then we look at the division between the Democrats and the Republicans and how much there's so much hate pointing at one another, but nobody's willing to take ownership and their own faults. To me, it just, I'm just, looking at this from a third person, as far as they're projecting their own past. [00:36:48] Failure's on to them as they are the reason, but it's just like history repeats itself. fuck. Yeah. cause we're we have this old school mindset. this is the industrial [00:37:00] mindset that we still have yet to adopt. And now we have AI happening. We have so much going on just a mass amount of knowledge yet. [00:37:10] Why are we still doing these primitive little. Just Pat. It just, makes me angry. It's just what are we doing? It's a waste of time. And not only is it a waste of time, especially when you take into consideration AI artificial intelligence is, really making so many decisions for politicians. the way they run their campaign is based so much. [00:37:40] If you run a good campaign, you're going to have a lot of data that you mind by way of algorithms. it's AI making all these huge decisions that people go around like this like it's not, but AI is getting more and more, [00:38:00] Into a situation where the amount of control it has is phenomenal. [00:38:08] And, I'm not, there's no judgment there, to a large extent based on the algorithms, of course, but AI doesn't lie. AI doesn't have, have to deal with scandals. and so there's a whole bunch of advantages to AI. but I think used in con right now where we are technologically AI combined with the human mind in human emotions can be pretty powerful. [00:38:42] Use powerfully use power. It's powerful, both, for the good of people or anything. That's powerful. It can be used. in a negative connotation for control and anarchy and so on [00:39:00] and so forth or for the good of people, the good common cause, which I think we need. I think the world's continuing to miss a lot, that it's a little esoteric, but I'm a leftover hippie. [00:39:15] And I firmly believe that what the on Warwick saying about. 40 50 years ago, what the world needs now is love. Sweet love. yeah, but with the AI, as far as that being good or bad, I want to know is who's actually programming it. What type of character an individual is. Yeah. What did they build into these algorithms from which AI will continue to get smarter and smarter No, that's interesting. even with the [00:40:00] scientific method on just proposing a hypothesis, it's still not even free of that bias. [00:40:07] Not even free of. Just leaning on what the individual's testing towards their favor, rather than against their favor. There's always something that's going to impact the end result. And I still feel like it's going to be the same thing every time unless there is a drastic change in something huge. and see that's where this old guy sees a huge benefit. [00:40:38] To AI in that, regardless of the bias, that was part of any, and all of the algorithms that were built for the AI as AI continues to advance and it's consuming all the data that's available because [00:41:00] AI, at some point will be able to consume. Every bit of data, it won't need new algorithms because the algorithms that it was given as part of this AI works like our mind, except on a scale that we can't begin to understand how, it can gather all this information and make unemotional decisions, make decisions based on the math, the zeros and ones. [00:41:33] No. so, I think from that standpoint, it won't take stuff into consideration that human emotion takes into consideration. if I make the decision to do this, how will I look in the eyes of those people? AI, I don't think AI can, maybe, I don't think he considers that. It says, based on this information, it's [00:42:00] B. [00:42:01] You know next. so it's interesting. It's we live in a world that's, it's extremely interesting. And I, think to a large extent, we're at a very interesting point, for, certainly for the country and for the world, what's going to happen in this election, for the country and the world is pretty damn important regardless of the outcome. [00:42:31] Oh, it's frightening. How much towing is going on relative to the election and the procedures and the election and the setups coming into the election. As far as methodology, mailing ballots, no mail-in ballots, one side says, Hey, The [00:43:00] election's rigged. It's terrible. It's just going to be rigged. [00:43:03] the Democrats are doing all are going to have all this fraud and Malin. Do you think that's gonna impact the people actually wanting to vote versus not? not necessarily the impact comes from when the results are presented to the. To the world, depending on who wins. the 45 is apt to say if he's not victorious, I told you it was rigged. [00:43:40] And so we're going to redo the election. That's what we're going to do. We're it. I have the power to shy. Am I the most powerful guy here, regardless of what the constitution says, regardless of this coat, these three code branches, I think we need to have another election because this is all fucked up. [00:43:59] We can't [00:44:00] even try to recount, we don't know what's fraud and what's not, and I'm not leaving office. What are you going to do about it? the Supreme court comes and says, you have to leave office. Or, and he's got a couple of high level military people that choose to side with him and, they secure the white house. [00:44:25] And yeah, he's our president. Who's, hadn't been a new election and he said that this selection wasn't valid, he's our leader. So I'm going to follow, there, comes into that play that, something we talked about from the beginning, and that's, ethical in value standards that military, I gotta report to the commander, gotta follow his wishes. [00:44:49] What point do you say, dude? Mutiny on this ship. You don't have a clue as to how to get, us out of this hurricane, the ship's going down, [00:45:00] we're taken over theoretically, That would see that play out. Cause I have a weird outlook on life. I always, I want to say catastrophize, but just analyze possibilities of what-if scenarios and. [00:45:20] Just the paint, the picture you painted for me, that is a possibility because from how my understanding on how he made office, it's like he had friends over in Russia or he, I feel like there was something with the relationship with that country that helped impact. His success as far as he was saying, Oh, I'm for them, I'm against them. [00:45:50] I'm not talking to them. I don't know if you're familiar with that. If you can shed some light on that. Are you talking about all the Russia, Russian interference, and his [00:46:00] relationship with Putin and yes. Yeah. first of all, to, just do a little positioning, recognize that before he was president before he was elected president, I think, before he ever publicly decided he was going to seek that office, Putin spent a lot of time together because the two of them together wanted to put a Trump Tower in Moscow. [00:46:34] Interesting. Yeah. And that's pretty well established. In a fact, they had conversations about a Trump tower, a luxurious Trump tower in Moscow. That's one of the reasons I believe, and this is opined. okay. I believe that, The United States. [00:47:00] Congress is so curious to get a full financial trail of Trump and all his organizations to see if there are any financial ties to Russia and, or the powerful Russian people leaders. To what degree does this influence decisions that. 45 has made and will continue to make, because all of the, excuse me, the 17, intelligence agencies here in the United States, way back when all agreed. [00:47:37] There was no question in their mind. That there was interference from, Russia. To what degree you can say this vote was because of their interference. Nobody can prove that, but when all 17 of our intelligence agencies agree on one fact to say that they're all corrupt, there might be a [00:48:00] handful of corrupt ones. [00:48:01] there's corruption all over at the highest levels of our government. We've seen corruption as we've never seen before. From a guy that was going to clean the swamp out. Yeah. What is your definition of corruption? it could come back to manipulation almost really when you stop and think about what's cropped. [00:48:27] corrupt is when. You are a leader of a country and you're supposed to be making decisions one within the constraints of the law, the constitution, and you go outside the constitution, because, your daughter is trying to get patents with China. that's corrupt. I think when you have other heads of state from other foreign countries, stay at your hotel. [00:49:00] [00:49:00] In Washington, DC when they visit, I think that's pretty fucking corrupt. I think when you go and play golf at one of yours. Country clubs and it costs, I don't know how many tens of millions of dollars to take your entourage. Cause you got to have your security detail. You gotta have your fucking, motor escort. [00:49:23] You can't rent from, enterprise and get a Cadillac. You need that great, big, heavy Bulletproof piece of shit, and all that, any need 83 security service guys serve secret service guys, and. When he became president, I think it's corrupt that the dues to your country, to the country club, that he hangs out, that he owns the dues, doubled the day after he was president. [00:49:51] Cause you want to hang with me, you gotta pay dude, and his, big deal, the way he's handled [00:50:00] COVID there's is there any fact to this? I don't know. Probably not, but I can draw. Lines and inferences. He doesn't like the economy shut down. Not because of what's happening to the working guy, the common guy, because nobody's traveling is fucking Trump towers, his moral Lago, his all his shit. [00:50:23] Nobody's going to cause nobody to travel. You want people that are traveling are politicians and people that absolutely fucking have to get on a commercial airline, Some of that is real corruption. it's when you're doing something for, to, advance your personal goals at the expense of others and, or it's absolutely unlawful. [00:50:53] you can find a law that says, no, you can't do this. And. [00:51:00] Be in this position, whether it's a business guy taking payola under the table, or it's the president of the United States taking income from his properties because his position in the office gives him the ability to have foreign dignitaries. [00:51:20] Yeah. You just stay around the corner here at my hotel. We'll take care of you there. No. that's pretty fucking corrupt, I think, but I'm just before he was running for president at like even announced, I think I have seen this, I was like on the Simpsons as far as they just show like him running. I don't know what year this was but just projected him going. [00:51:51] Up as president. And that was like maybe 10, 15, 20 years ago. It's been a while since I've seen the symptoms and it's like, where do they [00:52:00] get that information from? is that just a coincidence? Because at the time he was just a bizarre character. So they like who is the most outrageous individual we can play as running for president on this episode. [00:52:14] And they choose him well, way, back with him and. 15 years, 10, 15 years, certainly more than 10 years. he had interviews with many talk show hosts and radio show hosts, and, they would, and I don't know why they would ask a business guy in a pretty non-successful business guy. [00:52:41] when you figure he's taken six of his companies, all of which are basically one main corporation, bankrupt, I, I don't know how successful it is. but, and he'll tell you, he has nothing to do with success. He was playing the system. The laws are set up for [00:53:00] me to fuck people, and it's not the big wealthy banks that he fucks when he goes bankrupt. [00:53:06] But it's a little contractor that, painted the inside of the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City that presented him with the invoice. When he said, no, I'm not going to pay you. I don't have any money. And then that puts a lane on his, his, what did he be? His LLC or, just him in general. And over time, if it doesn't get paid off, they don't really get their money. [00:53:31] They never do because again, the LLCs or corporations or trust, whoever ultimately is, the entity that has it. There are no assets, there's no money. and another judgment, he doesn't give a shit. He's probably the most, this guy is probably leading a gate litigated more stuff than, anybody ever. [00:53:55] he still has hundreds, if not thousands of [00:54:00] currently filed lawsuits against him for the fraud, he committed relative to his university. Those are still pending and he can play with those people forever. Cause he keeps paying as attorneys. just keep it in court a little bit longer, it doesn't go away because they don't have the financial resources that he has. [00:54:21] And that's the other thing. Valarie says he's done a successful businessman and I know intuitively that he doesn't have near the wealth. He tries telling you he has, if he did, he'd show you his fucking tax return. There's no reason for them not to show his tax return unless he's fucking hiding something. [00:54:42] He tells you he's one of the richest guys in the world. Okay. Show me all the rich guys, show me where I can go find their shit. the only thing that makes you rich is you had this big foundation that you stole money out of. And the state of New York made you shut down your [00:55:00] charitable foundation because your family was living out of it. [00:55:05] God it's like, where does it stop now? Is all this true? supporters will tell you no, it's just shit made up from the other side. No, it isn't, I don't know, show us your fucking tax return and prove it, innocent people will prove their innocence after some period of time. [00:55:29] Yes. And it's a really easy way for him. The easiest thing in the world for him right now, if all this bullshit that the Democrats and the liberals are making up about him and how he corrupts the country and all these business interests that could be convoluted. Show us your fucking taxes. There's not a president in our history in contemporary history. [00:55:52] It has not shown us our taxes. You promise Mr. President, God, that sounds terrible. I didn't him. [00:56:00] 45. You promised you were going to show your taxes after you were elected. Oh, but you're being audited. IRS doesn't care who you show your taxes to, whether you're being audited or not. You can show your taxes anytime you want. [00:56:15] Show them. Prove it let these fucking accountants go through. Probably his return probably is this thick, he's got I dunno, 63 different entities, and all this shit, but let these accounts plow through all that shit. And then tell the American public, know this guy's clean as a whistle, his fear. [00:56:39] And I agree with this. If you put some investigators on mulling over paperwork, they're going to find shit wrong. we all have done stuff wrong, so he's, I'm afraid they're going to, find something wrong. Of course, they're going to find in with him, they're going to find a lot of shit wrong. [00:56:59] Cause [00:57:00] he did it on purpose. it wasn't an additional, a mathematical error, But I think having a complete financial picture of the guy could show the country, show the world financially, why he does some of what he does. Decision-making as a leader of the free world. And it'll be interesting. [00:57:27] Then to caveat when you were saying, we could also see where the corruption is actually taking place. As far as it he's done certain things that certain departments should have covered. That is where we can start backtracking and start eliminating the corruption from the ass, end out the mouth. Exactly. [00:57:52] And that picture I just described. And in that picture that you just described, that the scary thing is [00:58:00] where does the corruption end and how do you end corruption? Because a lot of the people that would otherwise have responsibility for ending corruption and going after the corrupt, they are indeed part of the corruption. [00:58:17] And so it's that, it's a circle and it's a tough circle. If anybody heard the interview between 11 on, Fox Life, Liberty and Levin when he interviewed attorney general William Barr earlier this week, most frightening interview I've ever heard. William Barr truly, I believe, truly believes that he is 40 fives, personal attorney. [00:58:53] And his job is not to head up the department of justice of the United States of America. His [00:59:00] job is to make sure that 45 is reelected and that he can offer him as much protection as possible. And if you listen to this interview, if you never heard any news ever about Trump and bar and the Mueller report and Russia, and. [00:59:20] What's going on with Senate hearings, congressional hearings, and just listened to this one interview. And it was Fox interviewing him. this guy is scary. He and Trump together. If they have one corrupt high level, military guy can take over, this is conspiratorial. I know that, but it's, that frightening. [00:59:47] W when you see those levels of, governmental officials, all line for each other. at some point in time, Nixon's closest [01:00:00] advisors said, dude, we got you, they got you, your cookie hands in the jar, your hands in the cookie jar. You got to come clean and Nixon looked at everything and said, yeah, you're fucking right. [01:00:17] My best stance is to resign. And hopefully, forward my vice president who will now be president will pardon me, which he did. And he deserved it. the man was he, was punished enough. I really believe, that term you use conspiracy Tutorial. Do you feel like that term has, is a bad taste in people's mouths when we're really trying to analyze different avenues of how this could play out? [01:00:55] When we start, I just feel like when that term gets thrown out there, people. [01:01:00] Just dismiss it automatically because it's associated with things that happen in the past or are projected into the future that is least likely to happen. But I don't understand why nobody wants to even consider that as a possibility. [01:01:19] Yeah. And that's, I will tell you, Not terribly long ago. in the last five or six years ago, I looked at conspiracy ideas and theories and thought, Oh, those guys are off their fucking rocker. And then I realized, fuck, we all have conspiracy theories because all of our theories, if they don't go with the mainstream, Are conspiratorial, aren't they? [01:01:51] if you walk down this way, but everybody else is going this way and I tell why you shouldn't be going that way, because based on my thoughts, [01:02:00] it's a conspiracy. when you look at our country today, it's so divided that almost everyone is conspiratorial. To one extent or the other, you got the people on the right side of the aisle. [01:02:17] just making up bullshit. And the people on the left side of the aisle are making her bullshit every now and then each side grabs a fact and distorts it hardly any, but most of the time, all the facts are distorted quite a bit. Cause they want to be manipulative or motivate us to get out and vote. [01:02:39] They come back to the beginning of our conversation and it's really key. that's why I asked that question. When you mentioned those two words, manipulation in motivation, manipulate, motivate. We see so much of both of those going on, [01:03:00] regardless of how you perceive it. And it comes back to, I believe in my conspiratorial theory, another yet another one media, because most of the information we consume is presented to us by media, by social media, by the major. [01:03:25] News outlets by all the talk shows all of this media. And we have so much of the media to consume. It's not like when I was growing up. we had three television shows, no rotary dial telephone. Okay. She knows where the no, in, a radio for one time, just with am stations and FM stations, but. Hey, now it's so easy to come up with a conspiratorial idea and then build a whole story around it. [01:04:00] [01:04:00] Show a video, that you've Photoshop pictures or Photoshop and who the fuck knows what's real today. Yes. it's fine. Me. I got a friend that continually sends me messages and half of them. And I don't tell them, this is, all made up. you can even see the phone, the bad Photoshop job in it. [01:04:26] And here's the fact, and I, and who am I to say that just the fact just based on where I found that is that factual info. I don't know. Where do you find the facts? That's frightened. So what are the real facts, pictures that are being displayed to you and they are somehow made up and not an authentic one? [01:04:53] I don't understand why people are going to that trouble to try to relay the information, to get the point across. [01:05:00] it should either make sense or not make sense. And then when, if we were to zoom back out and look at. With the crowd of people you're referring to going one way and another guy to go in this way. [01:05:13] I think those people that are going their own way have a higher level of thinking rather than following suit into the direction that they were told to go to based on what is being portrayed by the media. Because I am aware of the term portering as far as with framing. A certain message to get across, to make things look catastrophic, or to make things look consistent in society. [01:05:43] As far as there's so much, there's so much Trump, there's so much trauma happening on a daily basis. Come on, tune into channel 11, Fox two. They would just want to get viewers and that's disgusting. Cause if we really zoom out even higher and look at the person who's in charge [01:06:00] of. The actual, what is it? [01:06:02] NBC like the place that's in charge of all the fucking radio, the social media in general, it's comes down to one person when there's two different sides of, the government Republic news and, democratic news. It's being ran by one person with a sign. Is he on that's? What? Just blows my mind. It's. It's frightening. [01:06:28] And when you look at the power of social media, [01:06:37] the power of social media has, and the ease with which it is with which one or an entity can post anything on social media recently that, some of the social media platforms have been taking down purely. Unfactual, posts [01:07:00] could have an adverse effect on, people that would believe that shit. [01:07:06] But to answer your question, why do they even do that? Do people post these pictures that are incorrect? I think part of it gets back to something we said earlier today in this division, everything's. Black or white. All of a sudden there's no grayer. Everything's binary. you're with me. You're with, you're not with me. [01:07:29] If you're not with me, you're against me. it, this is good or this is bad. There's that? it is good for them, but it might hurt this group, but this big group it'll, it's good for it's no, it's. I have to show you how wrong you are to think the way you are. Look at this picture. [01:07:49] Did I Photoshop look at this picture, it says right here, or look at here, I can pull it. these statistics as you well know [01:08:00] numbers, statistics reports for everyone that says blue, you can find one that says red. Yes, you can blame the doctor that says, yeah, there's hydrate high hydroxy chlorine coup the drug that, Trump is pushing. [01:08:20] I can't even pronounce it well for a while as a cure in a therapy for COVID. you got a whole bunch of doctors that say, no, it's, not, there's only five, placebo research papers that are written and said, there's no effect. And then there's 2,500 doctors will say, yeah, it works. but no, we haven't done it with a randomized placebo test, based on what we've seen with these two patients at work. [01:08:49] So we're just in this world of. How do you even find a fact? and I think each of us [01:09:00] has our sources for what we believe to be factual and near as unbiased as one can be today. there's biased everywhere. Whether it's NBC or Fox, whether it's OAN or CNN, whether it's MSNBC or, Foxy or newsy, there's bias in everything that we all do in everything we do every, day that we're alive. [01:09:35] There's we make decisions and do things based on our biases. And. The real trick is to, regardless of your, for example, political or religious bias, the real trick is to whatever your job is to go out and do your job with trying to keep your bias under control. [01:10:00] yeah, I'm an atheist, so I don't like people that are religious. [01:10:07] But as a cop, I can't go shoot people as they come out of church, just cause I don't like those people. I have to, the judges making these decisions in court, they have a bias. Of course they have a bias. but they have to make their decisions without bias, 12 jurors on a jury. Each one of them has a bias, but their instruction is you go in there. [01:10:34] You disregard everything you think, feel or believe don't pay attention to anything you hear or read about this case? Just the facts that are presented here in court, and you make your decision. Is this person guilty or innocent? That's fucking impossible. So that was back to [01:11:00] trust and trust value, honor ethics like a boy scout oath, all those things help the old lady across the street. [01:11:08] And that's what I think is really missing in society in general today, but certainly very high governmental levels throughout the government, both on the blue side and the red side, the Democrats and Republicans, you listen to both of them and you're pissed off at both of them. You are there, they're both acting, both sides are acting like a bunch of little fucking babies. [01:11:34] Yeah. they just all are like in grade school, kids don't act as poorly as, badly as irresponsibly as our politicians do. And I'd like to believe that Biden and Harris. might from a leadership standpoint, whether they win [01:12:00] or lose grab hold of the politicians on both sides and say, this is how you run a campaign. [01:12:08] This is how you lead a country, especially a country in the world it's in crisis. we've got a public health crisis of some sort going on, regardless of who you want to believe. There's some shit going on. We have an economic crisis going on, regardless of why it's going on, it's going on. And we have people in the United States of America that should not be starving, that should not be living on the streets. [01:12:35] We've got enough, wealth in this country between a handful of people, literally, but as a country, we have enough, wealth to fix it. So that. that doesn't happen. That the poverty we have here, not only just, not only an urban yeah. Plight, in the Appalachian area there's [01:13:00] poverty like you. [01:13:01] And I probably can't even imagine Jen, in our wildest dreams that today in the United States, people are living in Michigan. Yeah, Michigan. That's exactly where I was going with Flint for seven years. I think it's been about seven years since it was discovered in the media about the water supply up there. [01:13:22] People are still dependent on bottled water today that lives in Flint. Nobody's done anything about that river that you know, has got all that contamination in it as well, depending on bottled water. Yeah. And most of these people probably don't have jobs cause they're factory worker kind of people. I don't know. [01:13:47] It's interesting. I think with Louisiana, there's something in their water as well. What if I'm not mistaken, can't get up their nose. I believe there's like a parasite or something that can attack the rain or something. But if we [01:14:00] rewind, let's look at the social media as far as if it doesn't portray the political agenda. [01:14:08] Shit gets pulled down. Is that some sort of a control, I would say, as far as being like, if you don't post what's relevant on what we're talking about, we're going to take your outside information and pull it down because we don't want to confuse people on what is actually being presented. [01:14:30] Certainly has the opportunity. To happen that way. A good example though, where, I think you see this censorship taking place because it is a form of censorship. Yes. But I think media in general has a duty to call your attention to, misleading statements. A good example was semi-recently, [01:15:00] were, 45. [01:15:02] Has said repeatedly, but this was after his first white house briefing. Recently, I want to say in the last 10 days where he said that children are virtually immune from COVID factually, that's just incorrect science based on the science it's incorrect. And so Facebook or Twitter, it was Twitter took that. [01:15:30] Tweet down and, they'd give you the reason, bait in a point you somewhere, where you can find a fact. And again, who's got the facts, as I asked earlier, who do you look to as factual? I don't know. I don't know. But what I will tell you is for however long, the CDC, for example, has been around. [01:15:51] It was the authority here in the United States relative to contagious and infectious diseases. For, I don't know, [01:16:00] 40 years, 50 years, 80 years, I don't know, long it's been around. I don't know it's been around for a while. And there were some prestigious doctors that, have led that organization to keep widespread epidemics and pandemics from help from occurring and helping the world deal with epidemics that might happen in their country. [01:16:21] So when. That group of scientists, doctors who specialize in that shit say, no, that's not right. I'm going to accept them over fucking an orange fucking leader that told us to go drink Lysol and sit under ultraviolet lights as a way to not get COVID. given that choice, that ABB I'll take B, I go with the science. [01:16:49] I'm curious though, as far as, who owns Twitter? That's one quick. That's my first question. And why was it taken down when [01:17:00] 45 says this? Yes, it seems pretty bizarre, but the fact of somebody in such high power says this bizarre thing and it's automatically taken down. Now, my question is, there a connection between somebody who owns. [01:17:17] That platform two 45. Yeah. that's if you listen to the politicians on both sides. Yes. I believe Twitter is part of a publicly-traded company. So there are many, stockholders that ultimately the board of directors gets to pick and choose the CEO it, and one might say, Just like Bezos is against Trump. [01:17:48] So anything that comes from Amazon or the Washington Post or any of the shit he owns is tainted. As far as Trump supporters go, that's just not. So [01:18:00] bayzos has at the end of the day if you collapse his empire, He's not going to lose his $65 billion. And if he loses $64.9 billion, he's still a billionaire. [01:18:17] Yes. financially he has nothing really to gain. He's attained that level in Maslow's hierarchy that he's into self-actualization that's all. And like he and bill Gates. they're trying to improve the world. Now with this wealth, they built with these platforms they've built. Now they can use this AI to deliver clean water, too, third, world countries. [01:18:45] And they do they're there. They're trying to do good. Do good. Or it's how they're not out trying to build Amazon bigger. for the sake of building Amazon bigger. You can, I think it's actually number three in [01:19:00] the fortune 500, I believe three or four. I can't remember the number. And then with bill Gates, I do remember reading about that with him, helping out their world countries, as far as getting that first, self-sufficient a wa like huge ass system, whatever it just cycles. [01:19:22] The rainwater, and just literally cycled shit and piss fresh water. Let's just be black. Yeah. That's exactly what it does. So that's, really good stuff. And I just don't understand why we can't have that in the political area. It is. I think part of its leadership, during Bush, during Reagan during Bush, during Clinton Carter, the there was not this kind of, there was hanky [01:20:00] panky politics is hanky panky at the end of the day, but it wasn't everything being done for one guy. [01:20:09] And I really believe, and I know I harp on this, but [01:20:16] all. 45 is concerned about is his himself, his entities and how the world perceives him in, the world. Laughs at him, I truly see him as an embarrassment. God bless Joe Biden, but Biden makes plenty of fo pause in his speech. who's smarter. I don't know. I guess Biden. I guess a lot of five years old, five-year-olds are more responsible and smarter than 45. [01:20:52] They don't say shit as stupid as he does. he comes out and just says, bizarre shit, whatever I think is [01:21:00] rolling off. End of his tongue. He just says, even though he's got a script, even though advisors tell him, no, don't talk about, the Lysol anymore. It's really not instant fix anything I need to fuck you. [01:21:12] I'm going to say what I want. and he goes up and sights people, to, have these attitudes, that COVID is not real. I don't know if it's real or not, but there's a lot of fucking sick people that have something that the world is trying to deal with. I would love to go into that, but also let's, look at that. [01:21:35] if we were to put those two individuals Biden and 45 against fifth graders, I believe there's a show called, are you smarter than a fifth grader? Do you think the political figures would actually win? And also the other one is I understand what the, with an individual, it's not about what they [01:22:00] say. [01:22:00] It's about how they act under pressure is the real character. So when you tell me that. 45 wants to say this and just disregard the paperwork that's been given that shows who he really is. Cause everything that's coming out is just shit that people made for him to say, but he really does not have the ability to control themselves. [01:22:25] So I can see with what you said earlier, as far as about being a narcissist. And I don't like that term that because it always gets thrown around in. And then just in the society in general, loosely. if we were to look at it in the DSM, five, it gets very specific and I'm not looking at it right now, but judging how just looking at, or remembering the definition, it shows a relation. [01:22:56] But since I'm not looking at this very moment, I don't want to say that, [01:23:00] but I just think it's really interesting on how things are playing out. Yeah, it is. And none of us really, even psychologists, people that, scientifically know this stuff know what's in that manual, all the symptoms of it. [01:23:19] because they're not treating him, they're not consulting with them. No one really has a, right. and, not so much a right, but no one has the facts to make that judgment. On him or anybody, but again, intuitively when you see someone act like this time and time again, if it looks like a duck and smells like a duck and walks like a duck, it's a fucking doc. [01:23:51] even though it doesn't walk around with a label, crack black, I'm a doc. but in whether he [01:24:00] is. A narcissist. He certainly has some narcissistic tendencies and behaves as if he is a narcissist, behaves as if he is a racist behaves as if he wants to divide this country further. For three and a half years, he's never really spoken to America every time he speaks. [01:24:29] Every time he holds one of his political rallies, he speaks to the 30% of the people that will always support him. And don't worry about getting enough people over to elect, him. can you imagine a president, a living president. Having his people contact a governor of a state, South Dakota to be specific and said, what will it take to get my head carved into Mount [01:25:00] Rushmore now? [01:25:03] And this is a fact nobody's disputed it. the white house has walked back. they didn't quite say that. And she did give them a little model of four foot model with his head on it. With, Lincoln and all the rest of the guys. but here's just shows you the stupidity. and this is just pure stupidity, factual stupidity. [01:25:24] I can point to that. Mount Rushmore is a national monument. It's a federal monument, the state it's not in their jurisdiction to make that call. It's the federal government. I don't know if it's Bureau land management or who takes care of that particular national founder. But, and again, if you're president, you're going to have one of your people, Hey, call up, call the governor. [01:25:48] She likes me. She gave me this model. Maybe we can get my head on it and maybe we can do it. they can do it with buzz saws and get it done before the election. That be cool. A picture of me in front of the mountain. [01:26:00] With my head carved on there and maybe the backside. you can see my ass too, I don't want to see my Dick cause it's real little, if you look at the size of my hands compared to these big jackets in this long time, and I know that's just his character, but yeah. [01:26:17] that's, pretty, compelling evidence that you got a narcissist there, while I'm alive and for him to say, it's no different really than president Obama accepting the Nobel peace prize. except that he didn't. Obama didn't give himself the prize. Trump wants himself carved into that monument. [01:26:46] There were a whole bunch, whatever the process is of how the foundation gives out those, the Nobel peace prize. That's how it happened, whether it was corrupt or not. I don't know, but it's something [01:27:00] Obama didn't have any choice in. He could have not accepted it. Yes. He just said, no, I don't want that. I'm just doing my job. [01:27:07] Yeah. and this was really in his first year as president. this was based on shit he did before being a president, I don't, understand all that, but what I do know, at least, from the late. Mid 1950s through present day, there's never been a sitting president or a living president did to ask to be on a piece of our money or carved into a monument, or, that's just bizarre shit who would do that? [01:27:44] I can see how they can say no. I need to carve my head on the front of, on Mount Rushmore. In fact, they could move out Roosevelt, just Ricardo his face into my face, and then I'll start from [01:28:00] scratch. He didn't see why he would ask as far as, Squigy real squeaky. Wheel gets the grease. [01:28:09] And I guess like you, you don't know unless you ask, all right. That's like logically in my head, trying to get something that you don't think you'll be able to get, but I'm just going to do it anyways. That would make sense. But what doesn't make sense is the fact that he's saying of what you're telling me is he's saying, I actually did look at the shit and. [01:28:30] Online, as far as sources go, and he did say this, but with the Lysol and the ultraviolet light, he doesn't take it seriously. So my question is, this actually a real thing that's happening? And I'm saying, what? Or what's the real thing is COVID this sickness, this thing that's going around killing 150. [01:28:57] 668,000. Thank [01:29:00] you. Yes. Is that real? Yeah, I, Okay. I'm thinking there's some reality to it. I really believe that. But here's where you, the dichotomies of leadership, when you joke about something that allegedly has killed a whole bunch of people. Yes. When you joke about that, then you get at least 30% of this country. That again, he can shoot, as he said, he could stand on fifth Avenue in New York city and shoot somebody and nobody will do anything about it. [01:29:42] So those 30% of the people that are behind him like that. When they hear him say, yeah, first of all, there's a threat because Lysol is a corporation. Their headquarters was just overloaded by phone calls coming in that day, [01:30:00] Okay. So life's all cure me. That's because these fucking idiots believe shit that comes out of his mouth he's leader of the free world for Christ sakes. [01:30:08] Why would he say that if it's not true? Why would he joke about it? As some number of things? People are actually dying from some. Some bug that call it, COVID call it the common flu, call it a cold, this is where the leader of the United States. If he, wasn't joking about it, I saw the, I saw him. [01:30:30] Why do that press briefing? He got pissed at the scientists. he got pissed at Burke's because dr. Burks wouldn't address it. And he went to the guy that he had in his pocket and the guy just said, Oh my God. he shrugged, what did you do with this guy? he wasn't kidding. [01:30:54] He wasn't sarcastic about it. I think I, after 69 years, I can judge a lot of people when they're being [01:31:00] sarcastic and I've seen enough of his shit and heard enough of his bullshit in Conway's bullshit to try to cover up his miss speakings. He doesn't misspeak, he's not an intelligent guy, but he's, a savvy streetwise guy. [01:31:18] Every time he says something he knows the reaction will get. And one thing he knows is that when he does this bizarre shit, he's always on television. He has all this fucking press. right now, people don't even know probably what Biden looks like. he hadn't been out and about since Kobe, that's an exact operation. [01:31:38] I know, he doesn't get all this free television. that's one of the reasons I believe. 45 started doing these COVID briefings again, and no doctor, none of the CDC people are in there. It's just him doing a little rally, a mini rally from the white house, brief press room for, [01:32:00] some crazy shit happening. [01:32:02] I have a one o'clock meeting with my copywriter. I'm redoing my website. Oh, shit. Is it already one 58? I just know. Oh, wow. Yeah. Yeah. yeah, we can we'll end it right here. This is great. W a great episode. I think we talked about some interesting stuff builds you up or not. I don't know. It could be junk food, but it's food. [01:32:36] I'll get in touch with you later. Cause I wanted to see if you wanted to help, out with the social media. Cause I was going to start adding you on everything. Yeah, let's talk about okay. We can do, Hey, it was good seeing you and have a good rest of the week. I've got a few days left. Beat your [01:33:00] drum. [01:33:00] I will. You do the same. Thank you. Bye bye. Bye.

Americans Love to Freak Out About Mercury Retrograde.  Here’s Why.
When I notice patterns of behavior among groups or communities at large, I sit up and take notice.  I go into detective mode, and if conventional means of critical inquiry can’t answer my questions, I consult the stars.
Over the past few years, I’ve noticed a great deal of chatter (Mercury) on the Internet and social media around Mercury retrograde.  To be bluntly honest with you, I feel like Americans engage in an almost ritualistic mass-freakout every time we learn (Mercury) that the Trickster planet is going to spend a few weeks moving backwards in the sky. Don’t get me wrong:  I love the funny memes, and gifs and commentary. Americans consider ourselves to be clever and insightful, but seriously, Mercury stations retrograde 3-4 times a year.  Not much to get all freaked out about, right?
Or is there a there, there?  I say there is, in fact a there, there.
Anyway, I wanted to understand why this was happening, so I decided to consult the natal chart of the United States of America.  I asked my astrology mentor to share a nice clean chart wheel with me. In his email reply (with the attached chart) he wrote:
Please find attached of the chart for the USA that I use, which is referred to as the "Sibly" chart, so named after British astrologer Ebeneezer (sic) Sibly, who rectified it based on actual minutes of the Continental Congress as well as the discovery of Uranus. There's another version of the USA chart, which features a Gemini rising if you want to use that (there are at least a dozen variations of the USA chart, if you don't know this already!).
Shout out to Ebenezer Sibly, who was not only an astrologer, but a writer and a doctor (both Mercury-ruled endeavors, how appropriate).  I have been using the Sibly chart for years, and when I find a good thing, I tend to stick with it (Saturn).
At any rate, Mercury rules the mind/mental status, words, documents, contracts, communication (of all kinds), technology, siblings, short trips and all things mobility and movement. To add a point of refinement (I can’t help it, I’m a Virgo with Mercury exalted in Virgo), Mercury not only rules the signs Gemini and Virgo, it is EXALTED in the sign of the Virgin. This is a very important distinction to make, one that sometimes gets overlooked by astrologers.
Right now, transit Mercury just entered Virgo and loves being there.  Virgo adds a grounding quality to this airy planet.  Solar Virgos who are fortunate enough to have an unafflicted Mercury in Virgo as the ruler of their sun sign tend to be very no-nonsense, brainy, problem-solvers.  You want this kind of Virgo on your team, believe me. My Mercury makes an applying square to Saturn in Gemini, which it also rules, giving my thoughts an almost sobering effect.  And I find myself drawn to partners who are disciplined, common-sense thinkers (and writers/communicators).
Mercury in Virgo is a researcher who loves to sort through reams of data, editing, revising, testing what works and ridding itself of the useless bits and pieces.  It then loves to analyze what’s left, with keen eye for detail.  It loves to repackage what works into useful information that has a practical application.  On the other hand, Mercury in the sign of Gemini is like that blogger we love to follow online, the one who writes hundreds and hundreds of posts that may not all connect, to demonstrate that she/he/they know a little bit about everything.
Mercury is the Messenger of the zodiac, and wherever he/she is placed in a chart, you can be sure there will be a lot of chatter and movement and messages regarding the matters of that house.  With this said, let’s take a look at the Sibly chart.  Mercury is retrograde (!!), in Cancer and in the 8th house. We’re talking about a feeling type Mercury, one that prefers to talk about feelings, emotions, home, family, with others in their “tribe.” Outsiders are not allowed.
Placed in the 8th house, you’ll find a lot of conversations about 8th house issues like debts, taxes, other people’s money, death, sex (!!), and taboo subjects like race (!!) and all things other that make us fearful and uncomfortable.  What I find about Americans is that we like to talk about these topics ad nauseum.  But we don’t want to necessarily have these conversations with the people that we like to talk about.
So, if Mercury (RE)trograde by transit is about (RE)viewing, (RE)visiting, and (RE)vising, it goes without saying that we Americans do a lot of this, all the time. It’s baked into our collective psyche, for all intents and purposes, if you take this to be the natal chart of the United States.  And because Mercury in Cancer points to the United States moon in Aquarius in the 3rd house, we’re talking about 8th house type chatter taking place in real time 3rd house settings like social clubs, neighborhood groups and informal gatherings in our local sphere of influence, like meetups that may have been organized online.  What does the 3rd house look like online?  Closed and open Facebook groups. Google Hangouts.  Skype chats. Make sense?
But wait, there’s more!
Since we know that Mercury rules the signs Gemini and Virgo, we need to scan the chart to determine if there are any planets in either of the two signs, and indeed there are!
First, we notice that Neptune is in Virgo in the 9th house of legal issues, publishing, international travel, and belief systems.  It’s one of the highest elevated planets in the chart so it’s hard to ignore.  It’s important to note here that there are no Virgo-Pisces house cusps in this chart.   Wow.  So without getting technical, I’ll say that this points to the ongoing struggle to access the tools to make real (Virgo) the dream (Neptune) of our country being this melting pot (Pisces) of different cultural identities.  It sounds good, but it’s hard to put this idea into practice.
This brings to mind the famous quote, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” Doing a little research, I found out that this quote comes from Emma Lazarus’ sonnet entitled, “New Colossus,” which she wrote for a fundraiser auction to raise money for the pedestal upon which the Statue of Liberty now sits. Ironically, the poem didn’t receive a lot of recognition until after Lazarus passed on, and the story goes that the poem has been used extensively by thought leaders, politicians and influencers to sway the conversation about immigration policy.  But as far as Neptune is concerned, poetry - a form of creative (Pisces) writing (Virgo) - can only go so far to sway the public imagination about immigration.  The conversation will always come back to (Mercury retrograde) the basic idea, held by those who feel that America is their birthright, that those who are different don’t belong.
Next, we notice that Mercury does rule the 7th house cusp in this chart, and right below it, you’ll notice Uranus in Gemini in the 6th house of work.  Above it is Mars in Gemini in the 7th house.
In my opinion, Uranus in the 6th house speaks to two things (Gemini): Suddent disruptions and innovations in the workplace, and technology enabling our day to day routines.  If you go back to the emotional tone and tenor of the chatter among Americans about Mercury retrograde, it’s all about the sometimes overblown collective concern that Mercury retrograde will disrupt our daily routines, often times centered around technology and the workplace.  And now that our workplaces are often times at home-based (Uranus happens to rule the moon in Aquarius), it raises the stakes.  I have always sensed a deep anxiety among Americans about Mercury retrograde.
Finally, when you think about a standalone Mars in Gemini, this is a thinker’s Mars.  This is a Mars that likes to talk a lot of shit.  It likes gossip. It voraciously consumes information and news and values multiple perspectives, even if those perspectives aren’t fair and balanced (that’s Libra).  It’s important to note that the media - the fourth estate - is and has been under attack by many who believe (Sagittarius) what is reported in the mainstream is fake news.
(Note:  Mars in this chart has been opposed by transit Saturn in Sagittarius, which is currently retrograde and slowing down to a station).
Taken another way, Mars in Gemini will have no problems weaponizing words and ideas, like swords or spears or guns, against its opponents. The 7th house rules formal agreements made between partners, but it also rules open enemies (!!).  Think about the history of the United States.  Whether you like it or not, Mars in Gemini fits on all these levels. Our fighting words have gotten us in trouble with other nations, but it has also led to the authorship of several landmark documents that have transformed the course of global history.  And right or wrong, Americans are deeply and emotionally attached to our version of history.  The attachment is not just to the story but to how it was written, why it was written, and who wrote it. The story is a narrative about who we are as Americans, our place in the world, who stands to benefit and who doesn’t.
In short, I believe that the mass freakout on the part of Americans regarding Mercury retrograde is less about our smart phones working properly, and whether or not we check and double check legal documents, and more about the slow unraveling of the American story as it was originally written, who gets to rewrite and revise it, and why.
The story continues...
