It's almost time for Tʜᴇ Kɪʟʟɪɴɢ Vᴏᴛᴇ.

September 15th marks the 35th anniversary of the poll to kill Batman's sidekick, Robin.

Thirty-five years ago, on September 9th 1988, Batman #427 "A Death in the Family - Chapters III & IV" went on sale. This issue announced a vote-by-phone poll to allow fans to determine whether Robin would live or die in the next issue, Batman #428. There were two premium-rate phone numbers—a call to 1-900-720-2660 was a vote for Robin's survival, and a call to 1-900-720-2666 was a vote for Robin's death. Each call cost $0.50 (approximately $1.30 in 2023 dollars, after adjusting for inflation since 1988), and a caller could call multiple times. The poll was only open to paying callers in the U.S. and Canada for a window of 35 hours, starting on 15 September 1988 at 9AM EST.

Tʜᴇ Kɪʟʟɪɴɢ Vᴏᴛᴇ marks the 35th anniversary of the 35-hour poll to kill Robin. The aim of this mini-project is to discuss the phone poll to decide Robin's fate—the who and the how and the why. This blog will create and share media that may cover: the history of Robin; audiences' attitudes toward Robin; the creative and corporate forces' attitudes toward Robin; the rise of the Dark Age of Comics; comparing and contrasting the various Robins; etc.

From September 15th at 9 AM EST to September 16th at 9 AM EST, Tʜᴇ Kɪʟʟɪɴɢ Vᴏᴛᴇ will host a 24-hour poll asking voters whether Robin should live or die, as a rough reenactment of the original 1988 poll. Starting now, submissions of anonymous propaganda making the case for Robin's survival and/or death are welcome—arguments from both sides will be included with the poll as a "voter guide".

However, they don’t find out until she gets badly injured on the pitch and in the ambulance Leah is with her of course not leaving her sisters side they ask for her date of birth and it all comes crashing down for Leah. Keira and Lucy were also with her in the ambulance and they all try to console Leah, Keira feelings horrible as well since Y/N had been her best friend since U-11’s"

Growing up as Y/n Williamson was awesome. You got a cool older sister, a sweet younger brother and the three of you could play football together growing up.

Being Y/N Williamson had been awesome until it no longer was. Because Y/n Williamson was just the little sister of Leah Williamson, captain Leah Williamson. The 25 year old that captained England to the Euro’s and won the tournament. Ever since then, being Y/n Williamson hadn’t been too awesome.

Although you had been one of the top goal scorers for England, even before the Euro’s, it wasn’t the same as captaining the team to Europe’s biggest tournament. And people made sure to let you know that. It wasn’t like you didn’t know, Y/N would come second and Y/N would rarely get asked about anything else that’s not her sister in interviews.

You knew the routine by now.

You thought maybe it would be different today, on your day. 22 years ago was when you first saw the light of the day, November the 15th. Leah had always gone all out for your birthdays, claiming that she had to be the best sister and what better way to prove that to you than spoiling you on your birthday?

However, that didn’t seem to be the case this year. You woke up alone, your roommate had already gone down for breakfast and even as you entered the cafeteria no one even spared a glance at you. It was weird seeing as most of the time everyone would be buzzing on a teammate’s birthday, but you chalked it up to it being a matchday, an important matchday against Norway.

You sat next to Keira in silence, she had been your closest friend growing up despite her and Leah being closer in age. Your best friend was focused on the match ahead and didn’t even look up from her plate. Nothing different there, maybe you were just making up things.

But as you turn on your phone and see no messages, you start to get more confused. Usually your mum or Jacob would be the first people to wish you a happy birthday, but nothing. You shrugged at it, they were probably still sleeping…at 9am on a Tuesday.

Later as you sit in the locker room you start questioning yourself. Did they forget? Or maybe they’re just too focused on the match? Yeah, that’s definitely it.

“Hey, what’s the date today?” Georgia is the one asking the question and for a second you look up, curious as to what was going to happen next.

“The 15th mate, already forgot?” Your sister asks with a chuckle.

“Oh alright then. Thought my flight back was on the 15th but I guess nothing too important today.” the girl chuckles with a shake of her head.

There it is, confirmed. Your best friends have totally forgotten that it’s your birthday. Ouch.

Heading out for warmups before the match, you pass by Anthony, one of the media guys and you smile at him politely.

“Big day, no Y/N?” he asks, camera in his hand recording you.

“Yeah yeah, big one.” you answer rather confused as to what he was hinting at.

“Happy birthday Y/N! Number 22.” he cheers and you laugh at his antic, although surprised that he knew.

“Thank you, see you later Antonio!” you wave at him.

“The name’s Anthony.” he laughs at you.

The match had been intense with almost equal possession of the ball, though your team had been off to a great start as you assisted Rachel to a goal in the 33rd minute.

The girls thought it would stay that way, and it did, for a good bit. Until you went down in the 79th minute of the match. A rough tackle that ended with you groaning into the grass beneath you, arm cradled close to your chest and a heavy pounding in your head.

With you on the ground and no one to match the speed of the Norwegians, Frida Manuum scores in the 80th minute, equalizing.

Yet it’s the least of Leah’s concern as she kneels next to you, closely followed by Keira kneeling on your other side. The two girls try to get you to turn on your back, but as you make no move to do so, they gently turn you over themselves.

The first thing you hear is your sister’s gasp, the first thing you see though is the face Keira makes as she looks down at your arm. Mhmm, so this was more than just an ‘I fell on it and it’s bruising’ kind of hurt.

Your sister starts talking and you’re trying so hard to focus, to only focus on her even as the medical team arrives and places you on a stretcher, but it’s no use because suddenly, or actually rather slowly the world around you turns black.

“She’s down!” one of the medic yells frantically, it was never good if a player fell unconscious after a tackle. Your team can barely blink before you’re lifted off the field and into the back of an ambulance standing at the side of the pitch.

Leah’s heart is beating out of her chest, she has no clue what to do. She wants to go with you, not leave her little sister alone in pain, but she also had a match to play, a match with 10 more minutes left on the clock.

Keira’s shouting breaks her out of her thoughts and she follows the girl as she pulls her along to where Sarina stands with one of the Ambulance people. They’re both ordered to go with you in the Ambulance, Lucy following the two.

The team would be fine, they had a bunch of new players waiting to make their debut. The three of them had more important things to do though.

They sit in the back of the ambulance, next to where you’re laying. It’s a bit stuffed with all three of them sitting there and the EMT guy as well. You’ve got a mask on your face, breathing in some painkillers.

“Y/N Williamson, right?” he asks them, the three nod.

“Female, 21…date of birth?” he asks, looking up from his clipboard.

“November 15th, 2000.” Leah answers instantly, hand resting on the forearm of your good arm.

“Ahh, so 22 years old then? Not the best birthday I suppose.” the man chuckles humorlessly. Leah’s head snaps at him, mouth parted slightly.

No, no this couldn’t be it, it wasn’t your birthday today. There’s simply no way she could have forgotten. She looks at the other two and her heart breaks as Lucy nods in confirmation.

She had forgotten her little sister's birthday.

Head in her hands, she stares at your face, disappointed in herself and sorry for you.

“Leah, we all forgot. It’s okay, she’ll understand.” Lucy tries to comfort her, but it’s no use.

“Yeah but I’m her sister, I should know!” she replies, frustratedly smacking her knee. She's so glad the EMT guy decides to stay out of this. Lucy is taken aback a bit, but she recovers quickly.

“Oh god, I completely ignored her today too.” Keira mumbles sadly, reaching out to stroke her thumb over your forehead. You had been her best friend since you were 7. Well you were 7 and she was 9, the two of you in the U-11 team. That’s where you first met, it’s where the two of you had become the best of friends, going strong ever since. Keira doesn’t think she’s ever felt as bad as she does now.

The rest of the ride to the hospital is spent in silence, the two women closest to you sitting with frowns on their faces as Lucy attempts to console the two as best as she can.

They sit in the waiting room as your arm is put into a cast and you get something for your head. Leah hasn’t said a word since the nurses have taken you away, she has sat in complete silence for the past hour. Elbows on her knees, chin resting on her fist and that aggressive furrow of her eyebrows apparent on her face.

Keira shoots up from her seat in surprise when you walk out alone, blue cast on your right arm and kept in a sling. She’s quick to pull you into a tight hug, muttering apologies to you, only feeling worse when you keep reassuring her that it was okay.

“Kei, it’s fine, I promise.” you tell her sincerely as you hold onto her.

“How can I make it up to you?” a tiny smile makes its way onto your face, knowing she won’t give up.

“Chicken nuggets?” the two of you laugh before you’re embraced by Lucy. You find comfort in the older woman’s neck.

“You better have my autograph on that by tonight!” she jokes referring to your cast, and you’re glad you get to laugh after the events of the day.

Leah is standing behind them, unsure what to do as she questions whether you’d be too upset with her. All those thoughts vanish though as you walk towards her with a silly smile.

“Blue’s my favorite color so I begged them to get me that one, they had to take it from a baby.” you giggle as you tell her the story but you soon stop as you realize she’s not laughing with you. “Lee?”

She clenches her jaw, eyes watering.

“Gosh Y/N, I’m so sorry.” she starts rambling, something you’ve gotten very used to over the years of growing up together, but you stop her from continuing.

“I know, Leah. It happens -”

“But it shouldn’t!” she cuts you off, that scowl she wore in the ambulance reappearing. You take her by the hand.

“And it never has before, you were just too focused on the match today. It is okay, Lee.” you nod at her, relieved when she nods back, pulling you into her. You eventually part as you realize you still haven’t moved from the hospital waiting room and you’d very much like to leave this facility as soon as possible.

“So how about those chicken nuggets? I could eat some right now.” you comment as the four of you walk out the door, the other three laughing at the grin you have.

Being Leah Williamson’s sister might not always be too awesome with the media,, but you would be fine as long as you had your big sister with you. To her, you’d always be the number 1 Williamson.

There was a lot of stress and emotion in the Prague queue this morning, but the important thing, which I think needs to be emphasized, is that EVERYONE, EVERY SINGLE PERSON who queued at the venue before 9am (the venue's pre-announced distribution time) received a wristband today.

People who queued the night before got a wristband. People who queued at 8:59am also got a wristband. Literally, I did not give out the number 150 until about 8:55am, and the venue even gave out extra wristbands to the remaining people in line (about 8 extra people).

We don't know how many tickets were actually issued since the show was not sold out, but this is a 2000+ capacity venue, and everyone who queued by 9 has a guaranteed spot among the first 150 with early entrance privileges.

Please use this information to put the queue panic on social media into perspective. There is no need to keep pushing arrival times further and further back to get a "good spot". In a 2000+ capacity venue, the number 150 is a very good spot.

I know a lot of people are obsessed with getting the barricade, but your gig is not "ruined" if you get the second (or god forbid third) row instead. It's not "ruined" if you end up halfway or even all the way at the back. I've been at the barricade and I've also been in the second row, third row, seventh row, 15th+ row, and near the back. Is it nice to be at the barricade? Of course. Have I ever left a show feeling like it was "ruined" because I was further back? No.

I dealt with multiple grown adults today literally screaming and/or crying because the queue numbers were messed up (due to one group arriving before midnight then leaving at the band's request, and a second group then arriving at the empty venue in the morning, each with its own set of queue numbers) and a compromise solution meant that they might end up in the second or third row.

This is a concert that lasts an hour and a half. There is no reason to be screaming, crying, and cussing people out because you might end up one row further back, especially if you have already been to multiple JO concerts. The guys are planning a spring tour and summer festivals; this is not your last chance to see them before they disappear forever. Take a deep breath for the final step and accept that it's not realistic to expect the barricade at every or even most shows. It's okay to be number 50 or number 150 or number 500.

And for the love of god, PLEASE do not queue the day BEFORE the gig. This just makes the experience more miserable for everyone, including yourself, and makes people think they need to arrive even earlier for future shows. Do not do this.

Haori Cloaks come in two sized ( see chart above). For reference, the model is using an XL haori cloak. They are about 5′8″. More pictures coming soon.

I was inspired to make/design these because the sheer lack of Submas Cosplay despite their popularity in the community. The coats are either too hard to make or too expensive. So, I thought “why not make an affordable casual cosplay option”? In conclusion...I did, so you guys don’t have to go through all the manufacturing/production drama.

So far I am really enjoying them. They are a light and flowy polyester and you can definitely do the Submas classic poses in them (tested that myself. It is verrrry fun). I just wanted to share with the community my idea. I’m all about sharing the trainrot brainrot around.

Part of the inspiration came from an old drawing I did way back in May of the submas in haori coats and Kimonos ( see above). I’ve just been too busy moving and doing other projects to tackle this one.

Note* The haori’s shown are samples I purchased to ensure the quality and colors of the haori’s. The only change that will be made is that the blue bar with move up the sleeve. In terms of colors, for some reason the arm band shows up a lot brighter than in real life LOL.

Hey y’all idk how this works I’ve never been struggling this hard before. My two daughters lost their dad my fiancé a week ago from a heart problem we didn’t know he had. It was sudden and now I have to plan a funeral alone. I never imagined that he would be gone we were just talking about getting a life insurance policy like a month ago but never did it. Okay so after feeling a bit downcast lately and having a lovely little breakdown last week, something actually good happened today.

I was already getting stressed out about not finding a place to intern for my new studies (I already tried calling different places but nada), because if I can't find a workplace to do that, my studies cannot progress.

Well guess what?

The high school/boarding school that I had originally applied for / was interviewed at for this, finally got back to me today. After ghosting me nearly over a week.

But the principal of that school finally called me today, said he's gonna email back to me that one form I'd sent him earlier, so I could forward it to my teachers. And tomorrow we're finally going to sign that contract starting at 9am, and I should begin my training there on Thursday.

If all goes well, my internship should last until December 15th, so, fuck yeah.

I'm so happy I could cry now (I don't have any tears left in me though kdjkd).

Time for the last round of Sew Days for the year at Bulli Community Centre!

Our Sew Days this week will have a Christmas Theme, but not to worry as members present last month voted for no Secret Santa presents this year. Hopefully this will reduce stress! Friday will run from 9am - 2pm or 3pm and is a smaller group so please BYO food and drink.

Saturday starts at 9am, with Sew & Tell at 9:30am. The day will finish at 3pm. Bring a small plate of Christmas food to share. Tea and coffee will be provided.

taivan week is a fanweek dedicated to taivan (van & taissa from yellowjackets). it's a collaborative fandom effort to celebrate the canon lesbian ship we all love through the creation fanworks (fanart, fics, edits, etc.) with a different theme for each day (details for suggesting themes and voting are in the "daily themes" section below).

when is it???

the first ever taivan week will be held in early november to coincide with when taivan came out at doomcoming, and to give everyone enough time to create fanworks.

the potential weeks are:

monday, november 6th - sunday, november 12th

monday, november 13th - sunday, november 19th

the week will be decided by polls on twitter and tumblr that will go live on tuesday, august 8th at 10AM EST and close on tuesday, august 15th.

the official date announcement will be made on wednesday, august 16th at 6PM EST

daily themes

each day of taivan week will have a different theme to inspire fanwork posted that day (ie. no crash au monday). themes will be suggested via an anonymous suggestion form and voted on by everyone via polls.

the link to the theme suggestion form will be shared on here and twitter on friday, august 11th at 7PM EST and will close on friday, august 18th at midnight EST.

all of the theme suggestions to be voted on will be announced on here and twitter at saturday, august 19th at noon EST.

on sunday, august 20th at noon EST a link to a poll will be shared on here and twitter for everyone to rank their top four favorite theme suggestions. the poll will close on saturday, august 26th at noon EST.

the top 10 themes based on that poll will be announced on here and twitter on sunday, august 27th at 8PM EST.

on monday, august 28th at 9AM EST polls will open on tumblr to decide the theme for each day of the week from those top 10. the polls will close on monday, september 4th.

on wednesday, september 6th at 7PM EST the themes for each day of taivan week will be announced on here and twitter!

hashtags

specific hashtags to use for taivan week as well as each themed day will be shared on here and twitter in october. using these hashtags when sharing taivan week fanworks on twitter, tumblr, and/or ao3 will help everyone to be able to find them. I'll also reblog fanworks from the hashtags on here and retweet them on the taivan week twitter account.
