SFPD authorized to kill suspects using robots in draft policy - Mission Local
Is anyone really wondering why this experiment of using police robots for deadly force against "violent criminals" is being conducted in San Francisco?
The tech industry has the San Francisco City Council's balls in a vice and those lapdogs will do anything the industry wants.
Also, in Oakland the industry tried arming robots with Shotguns but the proposal was defeated.
Police already shoot everything they're remotely afraid of. Why would anyone think adding killer robots to the equation is a good idea???

//TW for like gore and gruesomeness and shit//
Here’s a story that came to me IN A DREAM. IM NOT JOKING.
So it basically takes place in like this dystopian sort of world I guess?? So yeah it’s in the future. And what people do at this time for entertainment,, is to watch robots fight. Like the humans literally watch them tear each other apart. And the robots are like REALLY FUCKING DANGEROUS. LIKE THEY HAVE SAWS BUILT INTO THEIR ARMS, FUCKING LAZERS, AND YKNOW , OTHER DANGEROUS THINGS.
And at this time, the robots are like,, INCREDIBLY SMART. LIKE FROM AI. And sometimes, the robots don’t want to fight the other robots and so… (this is the gruesome part so yeah get ready.) …they can un-alive people and GUT THEM, AND LITERALLY WEAR THEIR SKIN for disguising themselves as people to hide from the humans who are forcing them to fight.
And the humans are aware of this situation. And when they notice strange behavior from a person, they get sent to like this,, sort of hospital sort of place ig?? To get tested to see if there’s A LITERAL ROBOT LIVING UNDER THEIR SKIN.
So yeah uhh,, very interesting dream. 😨

Absolute favorite match it’s so stupid.
Like. Not only is it a huge underdog upset, the rake was a last ditch effort to do SOMETHING to combat the drone (which had been allowed in the rules for the first time that year), and the only reason they went with it is because that’s all they could afford to add that would keep them in the weight limit. Like they literally ran out to the hardware store last minute for this and somehow it WORKED. Ridiculous. Bizarre. I love it.

Q* — the age of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)?
The possibility of AI general intelligence (AGI). AGI could potentially perform particular jobs better than most people, scientists have said. It could also be weaponized and used, for example, to create enhanced pathogens, launch massive cyber attacks, or orchestrate mass manipulation.
Election-rigging hyperrealistic deepfakes
One of the most pressing cyber threats is that of deepfakes — entirely fabricated images or videos of people that might misrepresent them, incriminate them or bully them. AI deepfake technology hasn't yet been good enough to be a significant threat, but that might be about to change.
This would make it practically impossible for people to distinguish Real News from deep Fakeswith the naked eye
Mainstream AI-powered killer robots
Governments around the world are increasingly incorporating AI into tools for warfare. For example, AI drones allegedly hunting down soldiers in Libya with no human input.
AI can recognize patterns, self-learn, make predictions or generate recommendations in military contexts, and an AI arms race is already underway. In 2024, it's likely we'll not only see AI used in weapons systems but also in logistics and decision support systems
