REKO MUSE was an art gallery in Olympia, WA, set up by Kathleen Hanna,Tammy Rae Carland, and Heidi Arbogast, prompted by having their artwork censored at the Evergreen State College.
"We were all trying to make feminist work that was kinda inspired by Jenny Holzer, and Barbara Kruger – and, you know, we were taking these photo classes and, when we would bring in our work, we were treated like we were crazy. I made work about sexism. […] Because my work was censored from the college, we started an art gallery in like, an old garage. And it was called Reko Muse, and it was like a feminist art space that me and my friends started."
(1,2, screenshots taken from The Punk Singer.)
on top of being a space for feminist art, spoken word, and photography, the studio also held as a venue that hosted all-ages shows; included were Nirvana, Amy Carter, The Go Team, Viva Knievel, The Melvins, and Seaweed. the studio can most famously be seen on the cover of Nirvana's 1989 debut album, Bleach, taken by Tracy Marander.
(3: Kathleen Hanna: "Flier I made in very early 90s. A benefit for the feminist art space we ran", 4.)
although the space only lasted for 3 years, it was Bikini Kill's first rehearsal space, and kathleen hanna's first shows played live. i wish i could find more information and accounts of it from the little i have :)
founded in 1991, the space has been converted to a youth center for trans and queer kids. <3

a non-comprehensive guide of creepy reasons to not visit volterra if you enjoy being alive (1/6)

even when you think the dark isn't looking? it is. and just think of all the ways that darkness may come to swallow you whole. beg as you may for freedom, plead for an everlasting piece? at the end of the day?

Hi there! I loved your Calamity liveblogging, all the speculation and reactions were a joy to read!
In case it wasn't on your radar already, I wholeheartedly recommend the Calamity Wrapup roundtable discussion. More character lore and commentary on the Everything of Camality
thanks so much, gern geschehen! it was so fun to have people along and interact!
I'm def for sure absolutely going to watch that wrap-up because I NEED to hear their thoughts about what went down. hoping to catch some nice tidbits about their intentions and their character creation and how the sessions affected them. especially curious to hear luis' take on zerxus v asmodeus and his interpretation of his own paladin pc.
I am currently watching the familiar problem one-shot as a palate cleanser hehe. bit of a breather before I dive into the last bit of calamity content.
