darkness has crept into the cracks of this world for centuries, but it’s never spoken—until now.
it was a mistake how this world came to be.
in the west, a realm is controlled by death. a queen rules with an iron-fist, seeing no mercy as she curls her fingers and crushes a person’s once beating heart in a matter of seconds. every drop of blood spilt is the strengthening of magic, the first kill an awakening of an individual’s unique power.
in the east lies another, a realm overseen by life. killing has been outlawed here, the ruler strict but not unkind. for those who dare to break the rules, every kill adds an extra year of life onto the murderer’s lifespan, a cushion of temporary invulnerability to soften crimson hands.
though they lay side by side, the two kingdoms have not spoken to each other in nearly two centuries, for in-between the realms lies an abyss—a third realm, one that survives in the shadows. it is unknown what lives there, but it’s dangerous enough that most don’t dare cross the border.
you’re one of the few who do.
living a double life, you make a living smuggling items into opposite sides, selling and trading requested items to keep yourself afloat. when you’re caught by the queen, you’re expecting a death sentence. instead, she gives you an ultimatum: steal her a coveted item and she’ll let you live. fail, and you die.
it should be simple enough, but there’s only one problem: what the queen is looking for doesn’t exist.

KAHLYS, THE HARBRINGER. [he/him]
there isn’t anyone that doesn’t know who kahlys is. stolen by the queen as a child and gifted with a unique power of mental manipulation, he serves as her messenger of death, doling out punishment to those who have wronged her. it’s been drilled into his very heart that sympathy is weak, that emotions only serve to cause pain, which explains his closed off attitude. still, that flicker of life behind his eyes every so often make you wonder if some part of him is fighting for life somewhere deep inside.
SERPENTE, THE THIEF. [they/them]
while their real name is unknown, you’ve always known them as serpente—as do their enemies. your paths cross often, for they are one of the only other people you know who dare to trek across the abyss. and while this leads to the occasional knife at your throat, even they can’t deny you know them better than most. it’s why, at the other end of the blade, you sometimes wonder their deadpan smiles, sarcastic drawls and aloof attitude are simply cover-ups for something else.
[enemies to friends with benefits to lovers available, or keep them as a one-night stand]
NITARA SOLYRES, THE ASSOCIATE. [she/her]
it is often said that those who cross nitara are never heard from again. hardened from past experiences, she’s spent her life building a reputation as one of the most powerful leaders of the city. and while her skills with a knife and cut-throat ways of persuasion paint her as a heartless soul, her behaviour towards those she cares about says more than any front she hides behind—you would know. over the years, your alliance has let you inside the walls of one of the most guarded people in notellum, that is, if you don’t betray her.
[friends with benefits to lovers available, or keep her as a fling]
VAL BELEDRI, THE EMISSARY. [gender selectable]
though endlessly busy with their duties to the realm, val always has time to spare for you. you’ve come to expect their sparkling hazel eyes when you exit the abyss, though which version of them you get is never known until they open their mouth. it seems that for all the layers you pull back, there are always more. and while you’re getting closer to what you think is their true personality, you soon begin to believe that when the act begins and when it ends is a line that’s been long lost to them.
REYES VERENELI, THE MYTHIC. [gender selectable]
reyes wears their heart on their sleeve and displays their emotions without fear—you’ve never known them to be any different. as a childhood friend you’ve lost and recently found again, it’s easy to make comparisons to who they used to be—even more when it’s clear that something burdens them. still, they’re practically the same as you remember them. that is, as long as you don’t ask them what happened in the years they disappeared.
BONUS: SILAS, THE SHADOW. [they/he]
they’re the darkness itself. people have personified them over time, to scare their children or warn them of dangerous creatures that lurk at night—but they didn’t realize they were describing someone real.
[not a true romance route]

Hello, i have noticed the lack of love for my girls, Charlie and Vaggie, could you do a Charlie x Reader x Vaggie? OT3?
Love Triangle? No, Love Circle.
Chaggie x GN!Reader
A/N: Before anyone jumps down my esophagus to yell at me about the character’s sexuality. I know Vaggie’s canonically a lesbian and Charlie is bisexual, I know. Don’t send hate or anything cause I will delete that shit, I don’t have time for it. Alright with that out of the way. LET'S JUMP IN!! I also made headcanons- If you want a fic I will definitely write one, I just kinda dumped my brain on this.
TW: A little nsfw at the end I’m sorry (not really I need more)
Tumblr media
-🎀 First off let me say, these girls love you in every way imaginable but they show it in different ways. Charlie shows it by hugs and kisses between work to constantly profess her love to you and Vaggie so all of hell could listen. Vaggie shows her love in more simple acts like getting you food or dragging you away from work if she sees you working too hard.
-👑 Both women are very very protective of you as well, now that’s not say they won’t go overboard if you get caught in the line of fire from the random villain of the day. Both have different ways of trying to get you out of trouble but will immediately come to your defense if they dare try to lay a hand on you. Charlie tries to get the situation to settle down while Vaggie locates every exit there to get you out as fast as she can if it goes south.
-🎀 Don’t get me started on if you surprise them both with a date, day off or just a simple random kiss. Both of them get extremely flustered when this happens, it’s amazing to see it happen. Don’t worry though both ladies will get you back in some fashion just keep an eye out.
Going off of the kiss idea? You gotta know when to strike to really catch one or both off guard. Charlie is by far the easiest to catch off guard, she’s just so busy and her mind is everywhere all at once it gets too much sometimes so you walking up to her and bringing her into a gentle but sweet kiss gets all the stress out. Of course she’s gonna let out a soft squeak and get all blushy but she almost always melts into the kiss immediately. This is just a headcanon of mine but she definitely stims by tapping her hooves on the ground to show how happy or excited she is. (GIVE ME MORE GOAT LIKE CHARLIE CONTENT PLEASE)
Vaggie is somewhat harder to surprise, she’s trained to immediately notice when someone is trying to sneak up on her or when something is out of place. She can’t help it and sometimes she wishes she didn’t really have to be this extra vigilant, but to really surprise her and get her flustered. Don’t be sneaky at all cause once again she will immediately and unapologetically point it out. So your best bet? Just walk up to her and kiss her cheek or on her lips. She won’t see it coming at all, she’ll get all red in the face and flustered beyond belief that her wings might just pop out.
-👑 Now if you work at the hotel with them Charlie will most likely try to help lighten your workload (please tell her your okay, baby stresses enough as is). Vaggie will help in some way or form whilst making sure Charlie isn’t overworking herself. Oh you need more paper? Don’t worry she’s running to get more. Something or someone is getting on your nerves? She’s pulling you away to do something else or she’s scaring the other person away.
-🎀 If you don’t work at the hotel and you keep coming back stressed as ever? Don’t worry your pretty little head, they will pamper you all night and the next morning? Your boss is suddenly giving you a pay raise AND the next four weeks off.
-👑 If you are an early bird that tends to wake up at or a little after the crack of dawn? Good luck getting out of bed. Charlie is a cuddler and will not let you out so easily, Vaggie in my mind is a light sleeper so she wakes up to give you a gentle kiss before immediately falling back asleep head on Charlie’s chest. Double the points if you cook them breakfast when they wake up, you won’t escape their barrage of kisses.
-🎀 They both will allow you to steal some of their clothes and will steal your clothes in return. It’s a win-win situation.
Charlie is canonically tall, like 6 foot something now- if you're taller than her she is wearing any hoodies or sweatpants of yours there is no discussion here. It will happen. But if you are shorter than her which is most likely she will happily let you and Vaggie steal her sweatshirts/hoodie/jackets.
Vaggie on the other hand is short like 5’5 (me too girl wtf-) or 5’7 so if you're taller than her? She’s stealing your clothes too but she’s much sneakier than Charlie. But if you're shorter or the same height as her she’ll allow you to steal her clothes as well but please don’t keep them for a week straight. She has a routine of doing all three of your guys' laundry and she doesn’t want to miss cleaning certain clothes you and Charlie steal.
-👑omg let me tell you- these girls love to pamper the shit out of you but if you return it? They will fall more in love with you. Massaging Vaggie’s back after a rough day or maybe helping her preen her wings. Washing Charlie’s hair or maybe rubbing where her horns are at as she lays between your legs and rants about whatever had her upset that day or if we are going down the path where Charlie has more goat like features (pls someone- I want to talk about this) just helping trimming her hooves. Girl needs to be extra pampered with her lovers after the shit she has to put up with day to day.
A little nsfw that’s popping in my mind- MINORS GO AWAY
-🎀OH BOY- Wearing something that fits your curves just right or something that’s a little showy gets both of them flustered and ready to drag you somewhere else. Charlie (bless her soul) tries to respectfully look away but you can catch how her gaze keeps drifting back to you and Vaggie? She’s looking respectfully and she’s not hiding it either.
-👑 Tease them all day long and they will not allow you to walk in the morning or the next few days. So…use caution when teasing The Princess of Hell and an ex-exorcist. They love you but they won’t go easy on you.
-🎀 Overall 20/10 relationship, may have some rough patches but they love you and will 100% talk everything out.

I want to rape a lesbian on stream and make her beg for mercy by begging for more.
Before I turned the camera on, I'd whisper in her ear that there was only one thing that would make me go easier on her: if she looked at the camera and betrayed her identity. If she moaned about how much she wanted to be fucked by a man, how much she needed me. If she panted out what a stupid little dyke she'd been for thinking that she wasn't made for men's pleasure.
Maybe there'd be a little spark of defiance in her eyes when I said that - an inner certainty that she'd never give in. And then I'd start the stream, and start destroying her. Twisting her into the perfect positions for me to strike her cervix with every thrust. Getting off on the sounds of her screams.
Once she started choking out the words through tears, I'd slow. Really enjoy myself for a little while, savoring the feeling of pushing her open with my cock. But before long, I'd speed up again, to make sure she was motivated to scream out how much she was enjoying it.
And once I was close, I'd stop slowing down no matter what she said - because I'd come so much harder listening to her desperately babble to the camera how much she loved my cock.

Thinking about different parts of Hazbin Hotel and the different parts of Christianity they critiqued.
For one, I saw some people say that they were surprised that Vaggie was maimed and kicked out of Heaven for sparing one singular demon child. That didn’t surprise me in the least. It’s very clearly a one strike you’re out situation, and for fundamentalists, they do believe some people deserve to die (yes, even children). If you don’t believe me, crack open the Bible. God kills plenty of children there. Furthermore, I like that Vaggie is a lesbian who was kicked out of Heaven. She’s literally a lesbian, but she was kicked out of Heaven for not obeying the rules, making one mistake—her story works on a literal and metaphorical level, and I love that. I don’t just like when it’s a metaphor for some type of discrimination, the literal should be there too. And I’m a lesbian, so I like relating to her.
For two, the moving of the goal posts in regard to Angel Dust. Adam came up with three completely random things, but clearly no one in that courtroom expected Angel Dust to do them. When he did, suddenly it’s “not everything is spelled in ink” and “why isn’t he here then.” Which is exactly what I expected them to do. If Angel Dust did somehow meet their arbitrary standard, they’d just dismiss it outright or come up with something else he didn’t do. Par for the course.
For three, the fact that Sera told Emily she needed to stop questioning things because if she did she’d end up Fallen like Lucifer. Because that is, once again, a Christian belief: that questioning things is a sin. You’re supposed to just accept it. It sounds bizarre, but it is true.
I think it was an excellent job in terms of critiquing Christianity and pointing out a lot of the flaws inherent. For people like me who were raised Catholic, the rhetoric and things the characters did were all-too-familiar. Even Sera describing the extermination as “a hard decision” was exactly what my grandfather said about his decision to not come to my wedding. (Which, yeah, thanks, asshole.)

A funny little story full of funny little coincidences and sweet serendipity, but I know people on this site love that
This is a funny story of how I got into the Good Omens fandom. And it is so weird that sometimes I even amaze myself when I tell someone. But I love to tell this one....... so....................................
Late 2021 I watched Wilde and I absolutely loved it. And the best thing out of the movie was that I discovered Michael Sheen. I remember at the time being struck by two things: a) how this actor who had a side character and a small role was so magnificently out-acting great actors like Jude Law (just my personal opinion plz don't come at me for that) and all because of these beautiful micro-expression which I find myself criticizing many big actors like Brad Pitt even for that they lack good subtle micro expression and its as if their faces are dead, nothing is going on there. But Michael is always acting even when the camera is not focused on him he is in character. And (b) his fine beauty. I mean as a lesbian and more than that a portrait artist, I was mesmerized by the artistic beauty in the most non-sexual way.
And I found myself spiraling down the MS hole. And I watched literally everything he has ever done. Except one thing.
Good Omens.
That was because I love Neil Gaiman as a writer. His books have saved me during some very dark times in my love and his work is absolutely sacred to me. To be honest I didn't enjoy his other adaptations. They sucked the juiciness out of the books and kinda confirmed my earlier conviction that no filmed adaption of a book will ever do justce to the written word.
And it's so weird that I had seen all the other adaptations but I hadn't ever heard of GO adaptation.
And then one day I was like yk what just f^ck it. I'll just watch it and strike this one of my list (I'm a cinephile on a mission to watch almost everything ever made in the world).
So I'm watching it and I'm like oh look MS looks so ethereal. Born to play an angel. Look at those floofy wings.
BUT something was bugging me. Usually in most MS movies/shows he keeps out-shining, out-acting his co-stars. Just out there being the best making everyone else look flimsy. But here there was one person who is NOT looking flimsy with MS. Infact he keeps complementing him so perfectly it looks like a graceful waltz.
'Yeah so the demon guy is a great actor I guess'
But that's not why my mind is bugging me. There was something else some weird deja vu kind of familiarity.
I try to ignore it.
Two days later my sister is scrolling through her Pinterest and she goes "What's a Doctor Who?"
And I was like "It's an old childhood show I used to watch, you wouldn't know (she has never seen Doctor Who btw).... why're you asking?"
And she holds up her phone and she's like "Idk it says he's a Doctor Who?" (btw I love the way she says 'a Doctor Who')
And my mind went whoooooooosh!
It's such a strange feeling when stuff you'd forgotten, stuff that was once really special to you, but seems to be lost, and yet is only nestling in some corner of you chaotic mind waiting for the day it'll one day come into the light again, that's tuff comes whooshing back.
I grew up loving DW. Especially Ten. Well I was a tad bit pissed when Nine regenerated into DT and I was like noooooooo who's this skinny f^cker.... I don't want it. But I just fell in love with Ten. To my little lonely-kid-in-school-weirdo-nerd-wallflower self Ten was a best friend who made me feel that it's okay to be different to be geeky and childlike without being embarrassed. Ten was a secret best frined.
And when he regenerated I stopped watching the show. And I forgot about it because I was so busy adulting I lost track of everything I had cherished as a kid.
Now almost 15 years later I found out that my new favorite character (along with Aziraphale cz they're equally special to me) was played by the same person who played my childhood favorite character. And that he's also the best actor I have ever seen so I spiraled down DT hole and I am obsessed (not ashamed to say this). And guess what I found.... almost every show or movie I had watched as kid, he was there.... Ducktales, Harry Potter, Loud House, Einstein and Eddington, Mary Queen of Scots...... its endless.
And the 60th Anniversary special, well it's the most specialist thing to me. I feel like a child again.
GO and DW. Best things that ever happened to me
So thanking Neil Gaiman and Russel T. Davies and MS and DT for making my childhood better....... constantly, because it's never over..... the child lives in me constantly...... she's alive again. Thank you for keeping that child alive and helping her through the darkest nights .

The Less I Know The Better
Tumblr media
pairing: Kiri Sully x fem!reader🌟🪷🫧
summary: Kiri can’t help but think of her best friend in ways she shouldn’t. She’s shouldered the burden long enough, but when she tries to confess, disaster strikes. Her plan fails horribly and now her life is ruined… all because of some stupid boy!
warnings: gay people😈 kiri being a simp but also so oblivious to reader, the sully family supporting their lesbian daughter!!! as they should, no homophobia this is a safe space, lo’ak being a meanie (not genuine), tuk being the no. 1 matchmaker in pandora, fluff, some angst that gets resolved almost immediately bc i’m impatient
word count: 4.9k (damn)
author’s note: don’t flame me if this is bad, this is my first tumblr fic😪 ALSO i named her alu but only bc i refuse to use y/n, so it’s still kiri x reader and not kiri x oc! [i know my first fic was supposed to be neteyam x fem oc but… kiri <3🤭🫀😍🫂👩🏻‍❤️‍💋‍👩🏻]
🌟🌟
Kiri started the day by being kicked in the face by Tuk, they younger girl slamming her heel straight into her sister’s nose in an attempt to outrun the yerik (hexapede) chasing her in her dream. Of course, it bled- badly- meaning Tuk was left staring at Kiri’s hunched over spine in floods of tears as the older girl diligently mopped the red from her face, smothering the wound with a damp rag. Jake had sat by Tuk in an attempt to calm her tears, but even after Kiri had pronounced several times that she was genuinely fine, Tuk was still overcome by a tearful sequence of hiccups, ones that shook her small body entirely.
Lo’ak had teased Kiri for the blossoming bruise in the centre of her face, once beautiful blue skin now a discoloured and uneven purplish colour, calling her all sorts of names, mostly just variations of narvä’ (ugly). She had ignored him, instead making it her mission to trip him over so he would hit his face just as bad (which he did, but he blamed it on Kiri pushing him into a tree root rather than his painful lack of spatial awareness). Now with somewhat matching marks, both na’vi made their way towards Mo’at’s hut in order to get some salve for the bruising, something Kiri had unfortunately run out of a few days before, using the last of her stash to apply to a small mark on Tuk’s shin to stop the girl’s frown drooping right off her face.
The tsahik sensed the disturbance to her calm aura immediately, beads clicking together as she turned her head to observe the way they hovered by the entrance to the healer’s tent. She clicked her tongue, “Ack! Why is it always you two?”
Lo’ak just shrugged, moving to sit opposite the woman  with a sheepish smile, pointing to the thin cut on the bridge of his nose from the tree root. “Kiri’s fault. She almost killed me.”
“I did not!” Kiri refuted, smacking his shoulder as she folded her legs beneath her to sit beside him, tugging the woven shawl hanging over her shoulders closer. “He fell because he’s a skxawng (moron/idiot).”
“Liar,” Lo’ak hissed in English, sending her a fierce glare, to which she only responded by sticking out her tongue and humming childishly as Tuk would.
Mo’at clucked her tongue again and they stopped, turning to face her. “And you,” she gestured to Kiri, “what happened?”
“Tuk was running from yerik in her dream, and I fell victim to her foot.”
Her grandmother smiled fondly, “She should be able to sleep by herself now.”
“She can,” Kiri grumbled, “she just likes to sleep near me. Which is fine but... I’m not a fan of her kicking habit.”
“She’s never kicked me,” Lo’ak shrugged boastfully.
“She has bit you though.”
His smug look dropped immediately, ears falling flat against his skull as he remembered the vicious bitemark on his bicep from his little sister. “Oh yeah.”
“Come closer, and don’t flinch,” Mo’at ordered, slathering a thick layer of a grey paste to her grandchildren’s noses, tail swishing in frustration as they flinched away from the smell and coldness.
“Bleugh, that’s worse than ikran shit,” Lo’ak cursed, shrieking lightly when Mo’at smacked the back of his head. “Ngaytxoa, ngaytxoa (sorry, sorry)! But it’s true!”
Kiri just shuddered, focusing intently on counting the beads in her hair instead of the godawful stench on the middle of her face. Sometimes knowing what was in the pastes was better, but this one was worse.
“Okay,” Mo’at stood quickly, shooing them towards the entrance, “leave now. I’m busy healing people who actually need help.” She gave them each a small pat on the cheek before shooing them out again more aggressively, the bangles and adornments on her arms rattling as she did.
“Irayo si (thank you),” Lo’ak shouted behind him, Kiri bowing her head, before they disappeared further into the village.
“Eywa this shit is so gross,” Lo’ak mumbled quietly, leaning closer to Kiri’s ear as they navigated through the growing crowd of early morning hustle and bustle.
“It’ll fade away in a minute,” Kiri muttered, scratching at her upper lip with a slight grimace. It was like she could taste it!
“Yip! Kiri! Lo’ak! Matu (hey)!”
The two na’vi stopped still, turning round to follow the direction of the voice to see Alu rushing over, eyes still hazy with sleep.
“Kxi (hello),” Kiri smiled softly, feeling her face warm as her friend came closer.
It was obvious she was preparing to draw them into a hug, but both Sully’s stepped back awkwardly, shaking their heads. “Um… we have Mo’at’s bruise salve on,” Lo’ak explained quickly upon seeing her face fall slightly.
Immediately she wrinkled her nose, dropping her hands to her side. “Oh ew. What happened?”
Lo’ak shrugged, “I tripped into a root and Tuk kicked Kiri in her sleep, both smashed our noses though.”
“Wiya (damn)… ’ak (ouch). You should be more careful,” they started to continue walking and Kiri couldn’t help feeling upset by the way that Alu was solely addressing Lo’ak. “I swear Lo, it’s always you getting hurt from doing something dumb,” she laughed, her hand brushing his arm quickly. Kiri’s heart lurched. Lo? Gross.
Lo’ak just held his hands up, turning the attention to his sister who had started to sulk a few steps behind them. “It was her fault,” he huffed, “she tripped me!”
Kiri just rolled her eyes, watching a dazzling smile appear on Alu’s face. “You deserved it, you were making fun of me for my nose saying I looked gross, so I thought it was only just.”
Alu gasped, laughing as Lo’ak spluttered out insults, falling into step with Kiri and linking arms. She leaned closer, close enough for Kiri to feel the tickle of her hair against her cheek as she whispered, “Don’t tell him, but you should’ve broken his nose for that.”
Kiri’s ears twitched and Alu let out a quiet chuckle that she muffled beneath her palm. “You’re right,” Kiri mused, “next time.”
Lo’ak checked over his shoulder to see if the girls were even following him only to see Kiri’s bioluminescent freckles glowing more and more as Alu continued whispering to her in a faux hushed voice, occasionally giggling and dropping her forehead to rest against the woven shawl she wore. He grinned evilly at her and winked, ignoring the look of sheer panic on his sister’s face, and continued walking ahead, whistling as he went.
Eventually, Alu tore herself away from Kiri’s side with a small frown, dismissing herself from their company to go aid her siblings in their chores- chores that she had initially abandoned to run over to talk to them before getting distracted and following them on their walk. As soon as she was out of earshot, Lo’ak started making loud and obnoxious kissy noises, to which Kiri lunged at him, raising her fist to slam it against his chest. “Fnu (be quiet)!” she hissed, nose twitching as Lo’ak continued to tease her, the laughter bubbling out of him in a way that she found incredibly frustrating. “Lo’ak,” she groaned, tugging at her hair in desperation, yellow eyes big and wide like Tuk’s when she'd try to convince people to be nice to her when she’d been a menace. Lo’ak stopped teasing, coughing loudly in hopes it’d smother his remaining laughter and sent Kiri a shy half smile.
“Ngaytxoa (sorry),” he said, nudging her shoulder with his as they circled back to their family’s hut. “I was just joking.”
“I know,” Kiri muttered, taking a deep breath in, “it’s just… I really try not to make it obvious.”
Lo’ak pulled a face of sheer disbelief (one that he’d seen his father pull frequently as if forgetting people could see him) but immediately shook it off, knowing it’d only piss Kiri off. “In the nicest way possible… you’re shit at subtlety.”
“Kalweyaveng (son of a bitch),” she laughed, pushing one of her braids behind her ear.
“I’m being honest! Serious, swear it, on Eywa!”
“On Eywa?”
Lo’ak nodded, face as solemn as he could muster.
“Shit,” she breathed, scratching at her chin awkwardly.
“Shit indeed,” he echoed, “but don’t worry, ‘m fairly sure the family’s subtlety ran out after Neteyam.”
“True, sa’nok is only subtle half the time.”
“Yeah, and dad? Cannot keep it together for one moment, he’s an… what’s the phrase? A readable-“
“An open book?”
“Yeah! Yeah, he’s an open book.”
“Who’s an open book?” A deep voice questioned, causing both Lo’ak and Kiri to glance at each other nervously. They seemed to forget about their father’s ability to sneak up on people. Shit.
“Umm…”
“Spider,” Lo’ak blurted. “He’s all like, blah blah blah, and all that shi… y’know?”
Jake tilted his head to the left, brows furrowing ever so slightly and Lo’ak winced. Shit, again.
“You’re up to something,” Jake concluded, folding his arms across his chest.
“Whaaat?” Kiri laughed, voice cracking slightly. She coughed. “No, I mean, no we’re not.”
“Lo’ak…”
“No sir, Kiri speaks nothing but the truth, Devil Dog sir. Umm Alpha Bravo Charl…” He lifted his hand to his brow in mock salute, elbow raised high.
Jake just rolled his eyes, tweaking Lo’ak’s twitching ear gently with a smug smile playing on his face- Kiri couldn’t help but marvel how similar Lo’ak looked to him when he pulled that face. “Get back inside, skxawngs,” he laughed, watching them practically run back to their hut, tails tucked between their legs.
Perhaps the Sully’s were notorious for their lack of subtlety, but everyone knew Kiri and Lo’ak were the worst at it.
By the time he got back to the hut, Kiri and Lo’ak were already squabbling again, this time over a piece of fruit, an argument Neytiri was refusing to acknowledge given her very obvious eye rolls and the fact that she was faced away from them with Tuk tugging at her hair.
Jake whistled sharply, watching Kiri and Lo’ak’s face fall blank, eyes wide and mouths agape. He grinned again, laughing at their dumbstruck faces, and Neteyam chuckled into his own fruit.
“Skxawngs,” he hummed fondly, stroking his wife’s cheek absentmindedly before attacking Tuk with tickles. “Rutxe (please) Tuk, ‘ak (ouch),” he cried dramatically once she had gotten a fierce hold on the roots of hishair and started tugging relentlessly, small legs kicking wildly.
“Ngaytxoa sempul (sorry dad),” she giggled, letting go only for him to sweep her up in his arms again, swinging her round. “Ahhh! Ftang, ftang (stop, stop)!”
Jake grinned, slowly yielding, and placing her back on the ground, where she immediately ran to curl up in Neytiri’s arms for safety. “Alright, ‘evi (kid), go hide like always. I’ll getcha again.”
“Ma’Jake,” Neytiri hummed, smoothing her palm over Tuk’s kuru gently, watching her mate hold his hands up in surrender before sitting down nearer to his teenagers.
“Kiri… Lo’ak, what happened to your face, ‘evan (boy)?”
Lo’ak looked up from the thread he was messing with, eyes wide and panicked, quickly swallowing his mouthful before prearing to launch into a great tale of dramatics. Kiri noticed this and beat him to it: “He fell into a tree root.”
Lo’ak kicked her. “Nuh uh! She,” he pointed at Kiri, the tip of his finger poking her cheek, “pushed me over and I fell. I was violently attacked!”
“That’s not true!” She squawked, staring up at Jake as innocently as she could.
“Does sound like you Kiri,” Neteyam added, wincing at the death glare she sent his way.
Lo’ak laughed slightly at the way Neteyam balked and Kiri’s glare flicked over to him, somehow more furious than when she looked at Neteyam. It was an uncomfortable heat swirling in her eyes, and it was making him itch, even when she cast her eyes to the floor. “She did push me,” he started again, more desperately than before, anxious to escape Kiri’s rage. “She told Alu she did!”
That did it.
Kiri slowly turned to face Lo’ak again, face frozen in pure shock. He recovered quickly and grinned cheekily whilst meeting his dad’s eye.
“Lo’ak…” she whispered painfully, almost choking on the word.
“You told Alu, hey? Hmm. She’s nice,” Jake smiled knowingly, looking just like Lo’ak once again. Kiri visibly deflated.
“I was kidding,” Kiri spat, crossing her arms, and sulking.
“Ah, ah, ah, don’t close up babygirl,” Jake sang, tapping her cheek playfully, watching in delight as she yelped and then glared at him.
“Bah!” She exclaimed, smacking his hand away and snarling quietly. “Ftang (stop)! It’s not funny.”
“Ma’Kiri,” Neytiri started, her voice as smooth as the stones adorning her braids, “tell us what’s wrong.”
“I’m fine.”
Neytiri clucked her tongue, lifting Tuk from her lap to move closer to the others, her youngest now wrapping herself around her sister’s slouched figure.
“No Tuk,” Kiri whined, pushing her away.
Tuk pouted- all big eyed and sad- moving to cuddle up to Lo’ak instead, close enough to be able to rest her feet in Kiri’s lap.
Jake reached out tentatively to stroke her cheek, leaning closer to try and meet her watery gaze. “Ma’itetsyìp (little daughter)… I- we were…”
“Plltxe (speak),” Kiri snapped, hesitantly meeting his eye.
“Why are you embarrassed about us talking about Alu?”
Her face crumpled and she began to sob, burying her face in her hands as she wailed. Lo’ak patted Tuk’s hair comfortingly to keep her from crying, meeting Jake’s eye and nodding in confirmation of what the man already assumed. Neytiri had moved quicker than anyone could comprehend to pull her daughter into a hug, smoothing down her hair and shushing her tears. “Mawey ma’ite (be calm, my daughter). You’re okay, you’re okay.”
“How’d’ya feel now?” Jake asked once her sobs had ceased, tapping unintelligible rhythms against her ankle bone.
“Nawm (great),” Kiri sniffed, wiping at her eyes aggressively. “Ngaytxoa, I didn’t mean to…”
“Do not apologise,” Neytiri interrupted fiercely, pressing a kiss to her temple. “Now, rutxe (please), tell us what’s wrong.”
She froze, unblinking. She didn’t want to. Unconsciously, her eyes drifted over to Lo’ak, all teary and panicked, and he smiled at her gently, as if encouraging the words to roll off her tongue. She went to shake her head but was still, paralysed with fear.
“Kiri,” Lo’ak whispered softly, as gentle as the breeze, “it’s okay.” He nodded once more, this time more confidently than before. Tell them. Tell them. Tell them.  Kem astìtewnga’ si tute astew (a brave person does brave deeds).
She nodded back- barely visible, but Lo’ak knew, a bright smile tugging at his mouth as he watched his sister shuffle in place awkwardly before rolling her shoulders back and straightening up to face her parents properly.
“I like Alu.”
Jake nodded. “Yeahhh…”
Kiri’s dark brows furrowed, looking as perplexed as Jake had when he first started learning na’vi traditions. “That- that’s it. I like Alu.”
“So do I,” Neytiri smiled, “she’s lovely-”
“No.” Kiri shook her head, her hands trembling in her lap. “No, I like her, like like like her.”
“Yes, we- uh- we thought you might’ve felt like that,” Jake spluttered nervously, scratching his head. “Sorry. I know that’s probably not what you wanted us to say.”
Kiri teared up.
“You’re not the most subtle at the best of times, ma’ite,” Neytiri hummed, stroking Kiri’s hair, “especially not when you’re in love.”
Unsubtle. Was it really that obvious? She glanced over to Lo’ak and he shrugged as if reading her mind and she thought back to earlier that day where he had said the exact same thing. Oh Eywa…
“Kiri’s in love?” Tuk questioned Lo’ak, intending to be quieter but still unable to monitor her volume properly.
“Yes, tsmuketsyìp (little sister),” Neteyam laughed softly, sending Kiri a huge grin.
“Kezemplltxe (of course),” Lo’ak whispered in her ear, pinching her waist playfully, dodging her wriggling limbs.
Unable to fight it, Kiri’s face split in half with the biggest and brightest smile they’d seen on her, practically glowing as they all huddled together to smother her in hugs and kisses, Tuk weaselling her way closer to chew at her shawl affectionately.
“Bah, Tuk stop wriggling! ‘Ak (ouch)! She bit me!” Lo’ak screeched.
“Tuktiery,” Jake said in a low voice.
“Ngaytxoa, sempul,” she responded immediately, kicking Lo’ak purposefully one more time before settling down.
“Sooo…” Neteyam started, “when are you going to tell her?”
Kiri froze. Shit. “Umm, I’m- I’m not.”
Neytiri drew back, a frown marring her pretty face. “No, you have to say something.”
“Fiiinneee,” she groaned, squeezing her eyes shut to avoid her mother’s expecting stare.
“Yay!” Tuk cheered. “Ooooh! Do it now, do it now, do it now! If you don’t, I’ll bite you.”
“Wha-”
“Yeah, do it now or you’ll never say anything, and we’ll have to suffer through you complaining about it all day,” Lo’ak jibed, sending her a genuine smile to show he was just kidding.
“Okay, okay, okay!” She cried, standing up on shaky legs.
“Go!” Jake laughed, ushering her away. “Quickly!”
Kiri sent them a big smile, nodding reassuringly before turning on her heel and rushing off, the twine shawl flying out behind her. Jake grinned as he watched her go, heart aching at how grown up she was now, turning to sit next to Neytiri who was beaming equally as bright with her hand on her mouth.
Kiri’s head span as she raced through the village. She was never one for physical activity, much preferring to limit it to chasing after Tuk and Lo’ak when going on adventures, finding it more enjoyable to stay hunched over in Mo’at’s company in the healing tent, mashing leaves and making salves. Now she realised just how unfit she’d become from that habitual behaviour, and Eywa, she regretted it. But soon enough, she reached an extremely familiar tent: Alu’s.
Shit.
But before she could even think of something to say, a lilting voice caught her attention a few meters away.
Kiri knows eavesdropping is bad, it’s something that her parents had constantly chided them all on (given how nosy they were and also due to the sensitivity of the information discussed between the Olo’eyktan and Tsakarem), and she was very nearly about to turn her attention back to the hut until she heard a laugh. A very girly laugh. The same one echoing in her brain from earlier that morning- Alu’s. Her feet betrayed her, and she found herself sneaking closer and closer until she could understand all of the words that were being shared in hushed whispers.
“Not here!” Alu had said lightly, although Kiri knew she was probably smiling whilst saying it, the words whispering past her fangs.
“You said the forest was too far away,” the other voice- a male voice- responded teasingly. Kiri’s brow furrowed deeply. Alu never really talked to boys… did she?
“Ma’Rasi, I said that because you are too impatient to wait all that way. It has nothing to do with me, nor my restraint.”
Oh. Kiri’s heart sank. Her feet stumbled backwards, and she ran away quicker than she had ran there. But she was so desperate to escape the situation she failed to stay quiet, the sound of her rushing away disrupting the quiet atmosphere Alu and Rasi stood in. Alu poked her head out from behind the cloth her sa’nok had hung out to dry over a branch that she and Rasi hid behind.
“Rasi,” she whispered, voice strained, “I think someone heard us.”
The boy inhaled deeply and ran after the person who’d been eavesdropping, hearing Alu race after him a few seconds later, panic ebbing through his veins.
Minutes later, Kiri appeared near her home and collapsed in exhaustion several meters outside the hut on the nearest patch of grass and soil, curled up on the floor and sobbing deeply. Shit. Of course, this happened. Of fucking course! She should’ve just stayed home and let Tuk chew away at her flesh until all that was left was a pile of bones and her twine shawl (but knowing Tuk, she’d gnaw her way through that too, she had already developed a bad habit of eating hair beads). She didn’t know why she’d never considered the possibility that her extremely beautiful best friend was involved in a courtship, she never even considered if Alu even liked girls in the same way!
All the running had knocked the breath from her lungs, leaving her lying on the ground dizzy and struggling to breath. She prayed silently to Eywa, mostly unintelligible strands of sentences that made no sense but seemed to be the only words she could muster. Oel ngati kameie Great Mother, she thought somewhat bitterly as she felt her heart thump heard enough against her rib cage she was confident it would burst straight through the brittle bone. Her tears had ceased, mainly because of her exhaustion, and were now drying on her face over her still glowing freckles. She could feel the soil against her cheek but couldn’t find it within herself to go anywhere else, so stayed on the soft soil of the forest near her home.
Kiri was so tired that she couldn’t hear the thundering of footfalls against the ground, sending vibrations through the soil she lay in. Didn’t hear the distinct shout of Alu’s gentle voice. Didn't hear either of these things getting closer and closer and-
“Wiya (damn),” a masculine voice huffed sharply from above her. Rasi. He sucked in a deep breath, staring down at Kiri’s unmoving frame and laughed painfully. “You’re a great runner, Kiri te Suli Kìreysì’ite. Could outrun anything out there if I could run that fast.”
“Kä (go),” Kiri groaned lowly, still facing the soil. She didn’t want to hear him gloat about how he successfully wooed Alu’s heart or whatever else he wanted to say to kick her when she was down.
“Ma’paysyul (waterlily), what are you doing down there?”
Her hands clenched at Alu’s lovely voice. This was going to hurt.
“We heard you.”
“Heard me when? I'm afraid I don’t know what you mean.” She answered coldly.
“Pxiswawam (just a moment ago),” Rasi said dryly.
“Hmm, must’ve been someone else-” Kiri started, pushing herself up with the intention of rushing back to her hut and hiding away forever.
“You think me a skxawng, Kiri?” Alu teased, moving to sit next to her friend, playing with a half-braided red and green bracelet.
“No…” she whispered, drawing her knees up to her chest and resting her chin atop them, ignoring the soil that clung to her blue limbs.
“Then don’t treat me like one. You ran, why?”
Kiri shrugged. “I heard something that was not meant for me to hear.” She couldn’t help how bitter the words sounded. “So, I left.”
“You ran,” Rasi corrected, nose twitching as she met his eyes with a fearsome stare.
“Call it what you’d like, Rasi,” she said cruelly, “running, leaving, whatever.”
Alu blinked slowly, looking up at Rasi who nodded to her quickly.
“Kiri… what did you hear?”
“You and Rasi… Why didn’t you tell me?”
Alu’s face fell quickly. “Tell you what?” Her voice was squeaky now, shaking.
“That you and Rasi…” Kiri grit her teeth and gestured around with her hand, “y’know, that you’re courting or whatever it is that yo-”
She was interrupted by a bellowing laugh from Rasi, the na’vi doubling over at her obvious jealousy. “Courting? Me? With her? Oh, for Eywa’s sake, you’re both as kakrel (blind) as each other!”
At his outburst, Alu’s face flushed darker, her ears twitching as her tail anxiously began to swish behind her.
(Unbeknownst to the trio, the Sully’s were able to hear every word and were currently breaking the Olo’eytkan’s most sacred rule: no eavesdropping. They hunched together by the opening to their hut with their ears pressed against the canvas, whispering to each other in shock.
“Oh no,” Neteyam sighed, “Alu’s with Rasi? I could’ve sworn he was with-”
“Foai? Yeah, he is,” Jake finished, “I gave him the Olo’eyktan’s blessing a few weeks ago. He’s not courting Alu.”
Lo’ak gasped, “Which means Kiri’s just a jealous freak!”
Tuk giggled quietly, hand over her mouth like Neytiri had told her once Rasi and Alu had stopped just a few metres away.
“She calls me a skxawng but she manages to cock this up,” Lo’ak murmured to Neteyam, causing the older boy to snort loudly, immediately slapping his hand over his mouth to muffle the noise.)
Kiri trailed her gaze over to her hut quickly, tail swishing as she fought the urge to run away again. Alu noticed this and stopped her by grabbing her wrist tightly, tugging her closer. Unfortunately, her strength was misjudged, and she sent Kiri sprawling into her lap.
“Eek!” She squeaked anxiously. “Ngaytxoa! Ngaytxoa, I only meant to…”
“It’s okay,” Kiri breathed, blinking quickly, "it's okay."
Of course it is, Rasi thought to himself, rolling his eyes and flexing his hands. His lip quirked upwards as he slowly started to slink away, dropping a second threaded bracelet by their feet before moving away quicker, occupying himself by drawing shapes into the grass.
Kiri smiled softly, unsure of how to act. Neither girl had gone to put more distance between them, but neither knew how to function with this little distance between them, instead they both sat staring at each other nervously.
Alu acted first, moving her right hand to cup Kiri’s cheek, careful to avoid the bruise on her nose. Kiri’s tail swished wildly. Alu always knew that Kiri had more ‘demon-like’ features but had never found any issue with them. In fact, right now she thought they were the most beautiful thing Eywa could’ve gifted to any na’vi: they were so enchanting and unique, not even Jake and Lo'ak had the same feautures as Kiri. “Nalor (beautiful),” she whispered, mouth barely moving.
Kiri found herself leaning closer, eyes focused on the specific umber yellow shade of Alu’s irises, noticing all the golden flecks that were dotted throughout. She stared at the smattering of glowing freckles across her face- far more than anyone in Kiri’s family had- and the small scar across her cheekbone from where her brother had accidentally sliced her with a knife when practicing his hunting techniques with her. Her mouth was slightly open, purple lips offset by her glistening white fangs and once Kiri looked down at them, she couldn’t move her gaze from them.
“I’m not courting Rasi, Kiri,” Alu said sweetly, nose twitching as Kiri’s tail brushed against her leg accidentally. “I wouldn’t do that to Foai, his actual mate.”
Kiri’s eyes widened and her ears pinned to her skull. “Oh-”
“Skxawng.” Alu lifted her hands to brush against Kiri’s forearms, fingers trailing over the twine adorning her shoulders. She tilted her head to the left ever so slightly, gazing at Kiri out of more narrowed eyes. “I wouldn’t you that to you either.”
“Um… what- what do you mean?” Kiri spluttered, eyes darting anywhere by Alu’s pretty face.
The other na’vi grinned, mouth widening into a smirk as she huffed out a gentle laugh at Kiri’s obliviousness. Her hand moved to her neck, thumbs brushing against her jaw to move her head to face her again. “Don’t act all shy now, you were so eager to eavesdrop earlier and now when I’m trying to tell you to your face, you’re searching for an escape route!”
“I- I’m not-” Kiri said quickly.
If possible, Alu’s smile brightened even more at Kiri’s words. “I know, I know. I’m just teasing, ma’yawnetu (beloved).”
(“Alu’s got moves!” Lo’ak beamed, “this is amazing.”
“Ma’yawnetu? Oh Eywa, Kiri’s all grown up. Ma’Jake, ma’ite’s all grown up.”
“Shhh mama, I can’t hear over your crying!”)
“Ma’yawnetu?” Kiri stuttered, blinking dumbly.
“Kiri… how many times did Toruk Makto drop you as a babe?”
Kiri’s face screwed up in confusion- “Uhm, he didn’t.”
“Are you sure? You seem a bit slower up there than usual,” she grinned, tapping her index finger against the girl’s temple lovingly, biting her lip to smother her laughter at Kiri’s offended stare.
“You’re being mean,” Kiri laughed quietly, finally looping her arms around Alu’s shoulders.
Alu grinned wickedly, left eye dropping into a wink. “I don’t mean to hurt your feelings, ma’tìyawne (my love). I can kiss you better if that’d help. After all, can’t have the Olo’eyktan after my head for upsetting his 'babygirl', can I?”
Kiri’s face flushed warmer than it’d ever been, and she just stared silently, mouth agape in pure shock. She couldn’t even function when Alu whispered to her earlier that day, how was she supposed to function when she said stuff like that to her?
“Kiri, can I-”
“Yes.”
“You didn’t know what I was going to say,” Alu rolled her eyes with a slight chuckle.
“Yes.”
Alu pinched her waist quickly. “Let me do this properly, ma’Kiri. So impatient,” she teased amusedly.
“Please just say what you need to, I might faint otherwise.”
“Oh well we can’t have that can we?” Alu moved her face even closer, her nose barely bumping into Kiri’s- which no longer smelt like Mo’at’s bruise salve (thankfully). “Nga yawne lu oer (you are beloved to me/I love you). Can I kiss you, ma’Kiri? Rutxe (please).”
Kiri nodded, letting Alu press her lips against hers.
Sometimes being related to such skxawngs like Lo’ak and evil critters like Tuk isn’t the worst fate Eywa has bestowed upon her. And now, now that she knows how much Alu loves her and knows how fucking obvious they’ve been for the past however long whilst trying to hide the signs of teenage love, Kiri is glad she was convinced to confess by her family, glad that she was possibly the most unsubtle person in the clan, and glad that she eavesdropped.
“You know,” Alu whispered, “Rasi was helping me prepare courting gifts for you.”
Kiri beamed, “Really?”
“Yes, that’s why I didn’t want you to know I’ve been hanging out with him. The less you knew the better.”
“I’m glad I know now,” Kiri admitted, trailing her middle finger along the length of Alu’s nose.
“I’m glad you know now too, oer oare (my moon). I guess it’s for the best, hmm?”

I’M GOING MATPAT MODE.
I don’t know how Winston would know Jack is alive. We never saw Cassidy get the news about Jack, but it’s obvious how he knows. I presume that Winston doesn’t know, and Cassidy throws the idea of finding Jack up in the air before realizing that it wouldn’t even be worth trying.
It would explain the cutscenes we saw in Blizzcon 2021 where Winston looks shocked as Lena pouts at him, and Lena leaves the dropship looking depressed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, bear with me as I push my “Gay Dad & Lesbian Daughter” propaganda. We see time and time again that Ana has tried to convince Jack to stop his one-man army shenanigans. I believe that Lena will ask Cassidy to help her track down Jack and Ana despite the advice he gave Winston. In the Uprising comic, we see Ana tries to pull Jack in one direction.
Tumblr media
It isn’t until Lena talks with Jack that he’s finally convinced that he should go against the prime minister and Director Petras’ word. I want to believe that Lena will be the driving force that brings Jack back to Overwatch, as well. She is very persuasive, after all.
Tumblr media
Now, the only issue here is that we don’t know who Jack and Ana are going to meet in Istanbul, and that short story can really make or break this theory of mine.
We know Cassidy has been tracked down by Talon. We know Akande asked Gabriel if Jack and Ana are dead yet. Imagine if Cassidy goes to Necropolis, one of Ana’s many hideouts, with Lena and is surprised to see she’s actually there. Cassidy meets Jack face-to-face for the first time, as does Lena, and they both make fun of his new beard... along with the cot, the single dumbbell, the whiskey, and the newspaper. (”Damn, bitch, you live like this?”) Then, Talon strikes! Cassidy and Lena were followed, and the four heroes must fight their way out of that mess. The mentors and the mentees! The parents and the kids! Once all is said and done, there would be a scene where Ana says that, with another one of her hideouts compromised, she’s done running. Jack would admit he’s impressed by how Cassidy and Lena handled themselves (while also throwing in a joke about how they both have a lot to learn, his tough guy exterior slipping away as it did in Bastet) before ultimately deciding to join the new blood of Overwatch.
Now, if I stop inhaling my copium, what will probably actually happen is that Jack will continue working with Ana from the shadows. I think the Overwatch 2 Release Date Reveal trailer opening with Lena walking in front of a statue of Mondatta in the sun only to show Jack perched up in front of Maximilien’s casino at night is no coincidence. It shows what the both of them are fighting for and highlights more of their parallels... but I can dream, okay?

TW dubcon/mention of SA? (Ace character who doesn’t know they’re ace is belittled into sex — it doesn’t go into detail)
Jason never realising he’s asexual until he marries a girl and goes “oh fuck I waited until marriage like a good Christian boy, but I’m supposed to do the deed now…”
He holds off as long as possible. Makes excuses. Until it’s been months and his wife snaps at him.
“What, is your dick broken or something?! Am I not attractive enough for you? I married you in hopes of having an easy well off life with children that I could put my love into and you can’t even give me that?!”
Jason relents. He has pride and he wants to hold onto it and…well, it’s uncomfortable. It feels nice, physically, but he can’t focus on the pleasure when his skin is crawling, his stomach churning.
She’s gorgeous. Beautiful, really. He knew that. He doesn’t understand why his body doesn’t.
She doesn’t make him do it again for a while. Waits a few weeks but when there’s no positive test, she asks him to try again.
It takes four tries before she falls pregnant, and Jason is relieved. She’s gotten her baby. She doesn’t need him for anything more than a paycheck and a father now. She seems happy with that; he’s come to realise she never loved him. It explained the quick engagement. He had been swept up in his desire for a girlfriend, a wife who he’d come home to and kiss on the cheek and maybe watch a movie with that he never considered that maybe she didn’t want that too.
It feels like a break up, Jason thinks. He’s only been through one before with his highschool sweetheart, Chrissy.
Jason wonders if maybe he’s gay. It’s a thought that makes his gut clench and his throat tighten up. Hell, he even tries to watch some stuff. It does little to nothing for him. He stares hours at his screen, switching between pornos, straight and gay and even lesbian, but nothing strikes him as appealing. He half-considers the videos where men would pet their kneeling boys, interested in the gentle flushes it would induce, but it didn’t stir anything that made his dick hard. It just made his heart race, really, the intimacy of it.
He decides he’s not gay. Just…fundamentally broken. Or maybe he had been born for priesthood, celibate for life. Fuck, that sounded like a good life to him.
So he does it. He joins the priesthood. He’s married, sure, but it’s an easy excuse to why he can’t sleep with her anymore. He’s devoted to this way of life, he told her. To God. And he was. He had grown up looking towards the sky.
After a year, she divorces him. It’s hard, and rocky, but she finds a new man within two years who she actually does love.
He gets a son anyway, Joseph, even if he only sees him three days out of the week and he’s unable to stay the night most days because his mother is clingy regarding her baby. The few times he does get his boy for the night, he curls the five year old into his chest and reads him storybooks until he nods off, all chubby cheeks and tousled blond hair like his father.
He hopes he never grows up. Never gets bigger. Because one day he won’t want to share a bed with his father, be held by him, or even visit because he had his stepdad in the picture and his ex-wife has snippy comments on her tongue about him at the ready always.
But he gets older. Of course he does. Joseph is thirteen when he begs Jason to take him to see a metal band.
“I know, ‘it’s the devils music’, but they’re really good, Dad. Can’t you just do this for me, for once? Mom won’t let me go without an adult and she refuses to go with me. Or let David.” His stepdad. Joseph scowls as he spits the name. David isn’t all that bad, but he refuses to argue with his wife, and it gets on the boys nerves. Jason’s also aware there’s a bit of favouritism when it came to Joseph and their other two kids, Lauren and Peter.
Jason can’t say no. Not when his son is obviously being slighted instead of just being told no by his mother. She could be a real petty woman at times. What did Jason ever see in her?
“Fine.”
“Yes! Thank you, dad!” Joseph is buzzing the rest of the week, even offering to pay for his fathers ticket out of his saved up pocket money since Jason hadn’t been keen, but like hell was he taking his kids money.
“Keep it, ‘Seph. Buy yourself a shirt or something from the concert instead, okay?” Jason ignores that it’s a petty move on his end too. He knows his ex-wife will chuck a fit at their son wearing heavy metal merch, but the idea delights Jason. The satisfaction would be better than sex by tenfold. He would know.
Jason almost regrets coming when he sees the crowd. They’re all draped in black with wildly coloured hair and he feels like a sore thumb with his baby blue polo and white cardigan tied around his shoulders, blond hair swept back. He also feels a tad old for the crowd, but he sees a few men and women much older than him, so at least he knew he wasn’t the only grown up.
God. A priest at a heavy metal concert. What a scenario.
“Dad, dad, they’re coming on stage, oh my god.” Joseph is jumping on his toes, trying to see over the crowd and Jason, who never dropped his strict regime, figured he could chance one evening of carrying a barely teen on his shoulders. Joseph almost falls at first and laughs when Jason clamps down his hands. He’s heavier than he used to be and it makes Jason’s heart (and shoulders) ache.
He squinted over the heads to look at the stage and found himself feeling a strange sense of familiarity as a shaggy dark haired man in black and chains walked onto stage, taking the microphone in hand.
“How’re my undead fans going? You all still alive?” The crowd roared, including Joseph, and it made Jason wince at the volume. The leads voice is nice though, low and just a tad rough around the edges. “Any newbies in the crowd? First show with us?” Joseph cheered along with a few others and the lead laughed.
He pointed at Joseph, the easiest one to spot with his blond hair and elevated height.
“Good to see some fresh faces. Little white sheep here needs a shirt, seriously, you look like you’re about to puke from excitement, kid.”
“I love you, Eddie Munson!” Joseph screamed and Jason’s eyes widened in shock, jaw going slack. He almost dropped Joseph before gripping tighter.
Prays be to God.
Eddie cackled, almost falling with how low he leant back. He swung back up with a weird grace to him, hair swinging forward with the force. He stomped towards the edge and pointed harder at him.
“You — you, kid, you buy a shirt and I’ll fuckin’ sign it, you got spirit, squirt!” He spun around, still laughing as he grabbed the microphone stand. He looked over his shoulder after a moment with wide eyes. “Apologises to the parental figure. But coarse language is advised.” He grinned and grabbed his guitar with flourish, tossing the strap over his head.
“Enough talk, let’s fuckin’ let loose.” The lights shut off with a scream from fans before red bled onto the stage, fog curling around Eddie’s shadowed figure, three more figures making themselves known behind instruments.
“Let’s knock open our Coffin, boys.” The purr rumbles through the speakers, followed by a low vibrating note that makes Jason’s breath hitch and hair stand on end.
The concert is a blur. Jason had taken a few songs to get used to the volume, but he couldn’t lie. They were good. With the crowd, with their instruments — Eddie’s voice could go from warm honey to gruff, animalistic almost, within moments. It was an experience, that was for sure.
“I have to get a shirt, dad. He said he’d sign it. You think he really will?” Joseph is shaking all over and Jason is only mildly concerned. He’s pretty sure he’s shaking too, but it’s in a good way?
“I’m sure he will.” Jason decides he should probably avoid going backstage with his son. Eddie and him hadn’t been…friendly. Less than. Jason had thought Eddie annoying as all hell and he’s pretty sure Eddie hated his guts.
Unfortunately, Joseph’s too young to go backstage alone according to the bodyguard.
“Please, dad? It’ll only be a few minutes, I promise, this is a once in a life time. I’ll never ask for anything ever again!” He begs and Jason had already folded to his whims when he said please.
Seeing Eddie up close is staggering. Makes his heart stop and start and sputter like an old car. When Eddie looks at him, he knows he’s put a name to the face in moments.
“Carver?”
Joseph’s eyes widen as he looks between Eddie and his father.
“Munson.” He greets back. Joseph’s mouth fell open in shock.
“You know Eddie Munson, dad?” There’s stars in his sons eyes and Jason wants to kick his younger self in the rear for being a dick to Eddie because now his son is going to reap what he sowed in his youth.
“I…We went to school together.” He thinned his lips and Eddie was watching him intensely. It made his cheeks hot. He had never been able to hide his embarrassment or shame with how pale he was.
“You haven’t changed.” Eddie remarked, eyeing his outfit with a smirk. Jason bristled at his words.
“And I see you’re still a—“ A scowl was growing but it fell apart when his son spoke.
“You were friends with Eddie Munson, dad?! Oh my god, I can’t believe this, this is the best day of my life! My boring priest dad was friends with a rockstar!” Joseph’s voice cracked, squeaky like every boy starting puberty. Jason’s heart plummeted. Anxiety swirled in his gut as he realised he was about to disappoint his only child, opening his lips to refute his claim.
“Oh, yeah, totally, little dude.” Eddie interjects, grinning. “We go wayyyy back. Best friends, really.” It was a bold faced lie and even his band mates seemed to agree it was a total farce from the looks on their faces, ranging from bewilderment to eye rolling exhaustion.
“Why did you stop being friends then?” Joseph frowned.
“I got busy with my career, obviously!” Eddie gestured to their surroundings. “I didn’t have a lot of time to phone and catch up. Totally my bad, really.” Holy shit, he was really going the full mile on this one. Jason wasn’t sure whether to applaud him or not.
Joseph elbowed his fathers side and looked at him expectantly.
“Maybe you should get back in contact so you have some actual friends. Ones that are cool.” He barely whispered it and Jason’s ears burned.
“I have friends. Everybody at church is my friend, Joseph.” He snipped out between clenched teeth, glaring at his son who scoffed. When had he become such a snarky kid? He used to be so sweet.
“That doesn’t count.”
“I’m too busy, Joseph.”
“You don’t even do anything when I don’t visit—“
“I do so—“
“Yeah but not like, a lot—“
“Hey, quit punching your old man while he’s down. You should know better.” Eddie laughed, pinching at the blond boys Corroded Coffin tee that he had thrown on over the top of his other shirt. “Come here, let me sign this thing. I’ll even add in a Polaroid you can frame.” He winked and Joseph’s eyes sparkled.
“Please!”
“So he has manners when he wants something.” Jason muttered. Eddie grinned and pulled Joseph closer, signing the shirt with his name. He called over his bodyguard to take a photo. Jason stood off to the side awkwardly, waiting to leave.
“C’mon, you too, old pal.” Eddie pulls him in last second and Jason’s pretty sure his wide eyes will be immortalised on his sons dresser, along with the blonds mused fringe flipped up against Eddie’s frizzy dark locks. He looks ridiculous, he bemoans to himself as each member autographs the Polaroid.
“Okay, come on, we have to head home now or your mother will throw a fit.” Jason ushers Joseph to say his goodbyes.
“Tell your wife I said hi, Carver.” Eddie drolls on his way out and Jason huffs.
“She’s not my wife.” And he was glad for it.
Just as they made for the door, Jason felt a hand on his wrist. He jumps and nearly trips over his own damn feet when Eddie tugs his arms around to expose his forearm, squiggling down several digits with his tongue peeking out between his lips, concentrated.
Jason tugged his arm away with his heartbeat in his ears when Eddie caught his eye, grinning.
“Call me sometime. You know. To catch up.” He winked and Jason was thrown for a moment at the gesture.
“Uh…sure.” He cleared his throat and left quickly with Joseph who was gushing about the fact that his father had Eddie Munson’s phone number.
Jason doesn’t intend to call it. So he doesn’t. It’s two weeks later and he’s happy to forget all about the meeting when a familiar face walks right through his church doors.
“What’re you doing here?” He hissed quietly, making his way down the aisle. It was after his service, so there wasn’t anybody except Thomson, who always stayed an extra hour to pray alone. His wife was going through a hard battle with cancer, so Jason never disturbed him. Sometimes, he’d even pray with him, or before bed, he’d pray on his behalf.
“Checking if I burn when I enter holy ground.” Eddie mimicked his whisper, a crooked grin on his lips and hands stuffed in the pockets of his tight black pants. “Seems I’m still safe after fifteen years.”
“How did you even know this was my church?” Jason looked back towards Thomson and huffed, leading Eddie back out of the door and closing it behind them. He wasn’t going to disturb the poor man. “Are you stalking me or something?”
“Your son told me.” Eddie shrugged and Jason blinked a few times.
“How did my son tell you?”
“You didn’t use my number, but he sure did.” Eddie smirked and Jason’s face burned with realisation. Joseph must have memorised the number on his forearm. That sneaky brat.
“I’m so sorry.” He sighed. “He’s a good kid but he’s nosy at the worst times. Gets it from his mother. I’m sure you have plenty of things to be doing instead of entertaining a thirteen year old.”
Eddie snorted.
“Kid worships the ground I walk on. I’m happy to entertain him.” There was a long pause between them, and Jason hated how cool Eddie seemed with it. Jason could never stand the quiet.
“I’m…also sorry about high school.” He forced the words past his lips. He was, to a degree, sorry. He had been a douchebag. His years in service had humbled him greatly, especially with how many folks he met from different walks of life. Becoming a priest had made him reevaluate a lot about himself.
Eddie was still a prick though. He had antagonised Jason just as much back then, even if Jason had had the popularity to back him unlike Eddie.
“Honestly? Me too. We were stupid, teenage dicks.” Eddie conceded and Jason rolled his eyes.
“You were a freak though.”
“And you were a preppy shitstain jock.”
They stared at each other, and after a long silence, Jason’s lip quirked up.
“Forgive and forget?”
“Something tells me if I don’t say yes now, I’ll have to say a dozen Hail Mary’s instead later.”
“Only half a dozen. I can be nice.” Jason shrugged and Eddie cackled, head thrown back.
“God, Carver, man, I never thought this would be how we met again. A priest. I mean, it makes sense, you bible thumper.” He teased, trying to hook a finger under the white band of his collar. Jason smacked his hand away with a huff.
“My church is about sharing Gods teachings and Jesus’ love with people who want it. I wouldn’t call myself a bible thumper. That implies I’m out rallying against gay marriage and abortions in my free time. I don’t care what folks outside my church do. I learnt that early on.”
“Oh wow. You’re all ‘love thy neighbour’, huh?” Eddie seemed genuinely surprised. “Not gonna stone a whore in the front yard?”
“Gosh no!” Jason put a hand to chest, appalled. “If she finds pleasure in flesh, good for her, but I will pass. And perhaps advise her to be safe. And evaluate why she prefers one night stands to a healthy, long term relationship with an active partner and plentiful sex.” He crossed his arms with a shrug of his shoulders and brows.
Eddie laughed. Full belly laughed, bent at the knees and wheezing a little.
“Oh my god! You’re literally — full one-eighty! You’re a whole new guy! This is…god, this is kind of hilarious.”
“You didn’t change, from what I’m seeing.” Jason mused. Eddie grinned.
“Nah. I mean, I grew up, had to to be in the biz long term, but I’m still everybody’s favourite freak.” He joked with a good-natured shrug.
“And now you’re standing outside my church.”
“The kid is convinced we have to reconnect. Be friends again.” Eddie chuckled, shaking his head. “I’m a sucker for kids, man. Can’t disappoint them.”
“Do you have any?”
“Nah. I mean — I could have.” Eddie admitted shyly. “Didn’t work out. Got too wrapped up in my career, couldn’t settle. And groupies, try as they might to convince you I hooked up with them, and knocked them up; I didn’t.”
“Why not?” Jason quirked a brow. “Isn’t that the big things with rockstars? Drugs, music and women?”
Eddie barked a laugh.
“Drugs? Some hard stuff in my youth. Some weed when I need to mellow out during a writing sesh. Music? Ear-aching amount. But I’m proud of it. As for women…” He leaned in closer, voice low as he spoke. “Not really my type.” He pulled back with thin lips and Jason’s heart thumped harder in his chest, his collar feeling too tight.
“I told you. I don’t judge people. Only the Creator can.” He looked up at the clear blue sky. “And he doesn’t make mistakes.” He assured softly and Eddie smiled. “So…you’re gay.”
“Not exactly.” Eddie shrugged, looking a bit shy. “Not really interested in anybody. Not in that way.”
Jason frowned.
“Is that why you aren’t married?” Despite his many rings, Eddie’s left ring finger was bare. “You don’t…can’t love anyone?”
“I do. I can.” Eddie affirmed. “Just, uh, not interested in showing it through…physical means.”
It clicked in Jason’s head then. His eyes widened, lips parted in surprise.
“I see.”
“Must suck. Being a priest. Celibacy and all.” Eddie suddenly said, shifting his stance to something faux-casual. Trying to move the subject off himself and his lack of desire.
“Not really. It’s why I went into it.” Jason admitted, Eddie’s confession making him feel brazen.
“You went into priesthood for…the abstinence?” Eddie frowned, squinting in confusion.
“Well, I had faith, and I was in a marriage I was unhappy in. She had the child she wanted. It seemed like a good option at the time. I’m glad I did it, actually.”
“Wait, just let me— are you…” Eddie gestured vaguely and Jason smirked.
“I’m not gay. I’m not really straight either. I…don’t desire sex. At all.”
“You have a son.” Eddie reminded, like Jason didn’t know.
“Not that it’s any of your business, but…I’m glad I had him, even if I wasn’t comfortable making him.” Jason truly meant that. Joseph was his pride and joy.
“So you’re asexual too?”
“Asexual?” Jason frowned. “Like a plant?”
“No, you, uh…you’re not attracted to anyone. Physically.”
“No.” Jason’s brows furrowed. “There’s a word for that?”
“Yeah.” Eddie chuckled. “There’s a lot of words for a lot of things. I am curious though; do you like anybody romantically?”
Jason thought about it. He had thought he loved his ex-wife. He knew he had loved Chrissy before they spilt. He had had plenty of crushes as a kid and even in his years as a priest, he had pined for two women, and a man for a brief time.
“My heart doesn’t discriminate.” He decided with a soft blush. Eddie grinned.
“I feel you there.”
They stared at each other a long moment and Jason’s heart only raced faster, all too aware of it. Eddie offered him a dazzling smile. The show stopping kind.
“Maybe we should hang out. Properly. I’m pretty sure the little dude is already bragging to all his friends about his uber cool dad anyway.”
“I’m only ‘uber cool’ dad when you’re mentioned.” Jason clicked his tongue. Eddie smirked.
“Obviously. I’m the uber cool part, you’re the dad.”
Jason rolled his eyes with a shake of his head, trying to hide his smile. He was doing a poor job of it.
It took him thirty five years to realise he was asexual, but it took him thirty six to realise he was in love with Eddie Munson.
Go figure. The Lord really did work in mysterious ways, huh?

Santana and Brittany should’ve been senior prom queen and king.
This is something I've believed since Prom Queen 2x20.
Let's start with why I believe this would be a perfect full circle moment for Santana's high school experience.
Santana Lopez had from the beginning wanted to be McKinley High's "top hoe".
In season one we are introduced to her as Quinn's second in command, but it's made obvious that she wants the full glory.
Of course we don't know why popularity is important to her yet, but we'll get there.
When Quinn becomes pregnant Santana takes the opportunity to take over the cheerios.
She does support her friend with the New Directions, but as far as one-on-one chats and encouragement go, she gives nada. She is even out right cruel about Quinn's situation, there's no denying that.
Throughout season one she focuses her attention on the two most popular guys. Noah Puckerman is her on-again-off-again boy toy who she feels nothing for until someone else wants him. Finn Hudson is purely a conquest to cement her place on the Cheerios.
Onto season two. We find out why Santana is so cagey and cruel. Santana is in love with her best friend Brittany Pierce. But with raging internalised homophobia and the general homophobia of the time and place she suppresses these feelings.
We finally get insight from Santana herself, she's scared of being herself and the consequences.
As she starts to address and deal with these feelings she lashes out, but she also shows her soft side. We begin to see that she can be a "hardcore friend" when she wants to be.
Then we get to Prom Queen. After Kurt is announced Santana breaks down and tells the last of her insecurities. She has been an outcast all her life and believes she always will be. She wanted to be prom queen so that there would be one night where she felt normal and accepted. That's why popularity has been so important to her.
Finally, season three. Santana and Brittany start dating officially, yay! But in secret as Santana isn't ready to come out publicly.
Then disaster strikes and she is outed to the entire state by Finn Hudson. I will not start talking about this event because I will never stop. Because of this she comes out to her parents who are supportive, but up next is her abuela who is suggested to be her main caregiver, and definitely the person Santana looks up to the most. When she comes out to her she is rejected and disowned. Santana's worst fears have come true, being herself has had terrible consequences.
Despite this heartbreak she moves on. Throughout this season we get to see Santana Lopez's friendship in full force.
She gives Brittany the confidence to run for Senior Class President, she helps Kurt when Blaine is assaulted, forgives Finn for his unforgivable act, makes up with Rachel, goes to help shut down Sebastian's bullying, etc. Now to Senior Prom.
Promasaurus is the perfect episode to complete Santana's high school arc. Her and Brittany winning prom queen and king, respectively, would show her that being herself isn't something that always ends in rejection.
Her whole life Santana has known she is different from the norm and wants to feel fully accepted by her peers, this is how it happens. Unlike Prom Queen, where she doesn't win, she is finally being her full self and for once she is being rewarded for it.
Her metamorphosis from a conniving, cruel, scheming mean girl to an open, warm, still snarky, out-and-proud lesbian is complete. Now she isn't popular because she's feared, she's popular because she's herself and she's brave.
The relationship with Brittany that took her so long to come to terms with in fear of rejection is being put on a pedestal.
There are also the real world effects. Seeing a sapphic couple be Prom royalty and be celebrated by their peers would be instrumental to young queer kids, even in a TV show.
In conclusion Santana Lopez and Brittany Pierce should have been Prom royalty. The story line was set up for over a season, and it is much more meaningful than what actually happened. Thanks for your time.

hi! any thoughts about thirteen/dhawan!master for the ask meme? ❤️
Thank you very much for the ship and this is also for @veraynes-blog who asked for them too!
Who’s the cuddler? Huh, good question, I don't think either is very touchable on regular basis... But if you got them drunk to the point of honesty or put them to sleep together, I'd say Thirteen
Who makes the bed? Well, the Master has spent a few decades intermingling with humans, sometimes posing in the military, but the Doctor spent her sweet time in space prison, both circumstances that would train some self-discipline... But I also think if they were on their terms neither would be exactly keen on that, so probably the dubious honour falls onto Yaz 🙃
Who wakes up first? Thirteen strikes me as a heavy sleeper, so probably the Master this time 'round
Who has the weird taste in music? The Master might appear as the obvious option thanks to dancing to Rasputin in front of second-hand embarrassed Cybermen and Daleks, but I think this piece is objectively a banger, so there's nothing weird about the taste itself. On the other hand, the short story in I am the Master collection puts him in USSR during the cold war, and I can see him developing a soft spot for all those lovely songs about people loving their beloved leader and singing how great their beloved leader is, and how happy they are to follow their beloved leader, etc etc
Who is more protective? I don't think "protective" is the best word for either of them... they're both very defensive about themselves and that sometimes floods onto other entities, more so for the Doctor, though not necessarily in the Master's direction
Who sings in the shower? Again, heartwarming songs about people being happy to erect a new statue for their beloved leader tends to flow out when the Master's taking a shower
Who cries during movies? Both, though not exactly movies as tv series. Thirteen cries like a baby during cheap norwegian lesbian melodramas (all the rage around 2070s) while Spymaster gets deeply moved by thousands episodes long soaps where it turns out someone married their parent, but the next season reveals this was not so, but yet next states that yes, it was so, and in the meantime the character died in a shark accident but not really
Who spends the most while out shopping? Spymaster, absolutely. He actually needs to present and, again, 70 years of human fashion can't just go unexplored. He tried taking Thirteen shopping once and Gucci boutique cashiers still need a therapy
Who kisses more roughly? They're both very rough and desperate, provided enough alcohol to get them honest was provided
Who is more dominant? I think the Master has always had some traces of authoritarian personality, so after the TTC revelation he'd want to go very submissive to the Doctor, but seeing as the message she got had less to do with natural right to universal domination over all of time and more with human dellusions of belonging and identity determined by biological parenthood, he got very frustrated, so they're stuck in the kind of conflict that very loud chihuahuas engage in over the fence and neither exactly dominates, one just gets carried inside before the other
My rating of the ship from 1-10. Writing alone would keep them at a weak 4, but actors make it a solid 7 👍

hi sorry for being inactive. i just rewatched the mlp movie and once again the lesbians are on the mind
here's some hcs
when twilight gets into one of her anxious little spirals fizzlepop is the perfect pony to ground her. fizzlepop can easily keep a level head and talk her through what she's worrying about
poor fizzlepop needs constant reassurance that she's doing enough for twilight. no matter how many times twilight tells her she forgives her she still feels the need to make it up to her
they both complement each other in terms of strengths and weaknesses. where fizzlepop lacks in magic or strategy twilight can back her up, where twilight lacks in confidence and communication fizzlepop excels.
their relationship could easily have ended up toxic if not for twilight's unending patience and understanding. fizzlepop has already been in many a toxic relationship so this change is striking to her

Lily: “TOH’s slip into serialisation is exactly the reason they didn’t cover whatever pointless diversion you wanted them to, and…a more open and episodic approach to storytelling would have left room for those fun divergences”.
Geez, Lily…I wonder what else could have happened to “The Owl House” to prevent it from going into things like Caleb and Evelyn’s relationship or the origins of the Collector and the Archivists or what happened between the Archivists and the Titans…Gee, sure is a mystery. Probably the fault of Dana deciding to do serialisation.
LO's bootlicking tendencies strike once again. she'll actually say anything and everything in order to avoid ever utter a real critique against Disney and their practices, or even think that they could be maybe responsible for the cancellation of the show. no, Disney gave her canon incest lesbian sisters, so they can't do wrong.

Pride is returning to cinemas for its 10th anniversary
'Comfortably one of the best British films of the 2010s is the wonderful Pride, an uproariously funny and really moving ensemble film set in the 1980s. Led by George MacKay, Andrew Scott, Ben Schnetzer, Faye Marsay, Dominic West, Imelda Staunton, a sex toy, Paddy Considine, Bill Nighy and Freddie Fox, it felt like a movie out of nowhere when it first arrived.
Telling the story of the miner’s strike in the UK in the 1980s, and the efforts of a bunch of lesbian and gay activists to support them, it still remains something of a one-off. Penned by Stephen Beresford and directed by Matthew Warchus, the modestly-budgeted film hardly set the box office alight on its initial release, but it’s earned a rich and deserved reputation since for a film that’s well, well worth seeking out.
With that in mind, for the tenth anniversary of the movie, the lovely people at Park Circus are offering an opportunity to see the film on the big screen again. It’s going to be re-releasing Pride in cinemas on 7th June across the UK. It’s currently listed as going to just over 25 screens, and as such is likely to gravitate towards big cities. But it’s worth having a word with your local independent cinema to see if it can play the film.
I’ve written before on this website about why I think Pride deserves a much bigger audience, and it’s really lovely to see the opportunity once again to catch it on the big screen. Very much looking forward to doing so...
Finally, that synopsis…
Pathé’s Pride is about the extraordinary true story of two very different communities who unite to defend the same cause. It’s Summer 1984, Margaret Thatcher is in power, and the National Union of Mineworkers are on strike! At the Gay Pride March in London, a group of gay and lesbian activists decides to raise money to support the families of the striking miners. But the only problem is the Union seems too embarrassed to receive their support. Not discouraged, the activists ignore the Union and go direct to the miners. They identify a small mining villiage in Wales to make their donations to the community in person. This journey begins a surprising partnership between two seemingly alien communties as they fight for the same cause.'

Femmegymshipping Week 2024 Day Seven: Free Day! Erika ruminates on flowers, bouquets, and love. A/N: YEAH THAT'S RIGHT I'M BACK BABY take this shorter one >:3 again...also wrote this one late at night...very sorry...what can I say. That's when I am compelled to write silly lesbians/silly
Flowers could be difficult things.
You needed to strike a balance with them. Too little water, and they will shrivel and die. Too much water, and you will bloat their roots and they will drown.
Some flowers needed plenty of sunlight. Others needed none at all. Others could change, depending on the weather.
Some preferred the company of others. Some needed the touch of other plants, stems and stalks intertwining and leaves interlocking, in order to survive. And others preferred to stand by their lonesome in their flower bed, letting their roots spread far and wide.
To be a proper florist, one must be aware of all these prerequisites. One must be ready to separate the daylilies from the tulips if they grow too close. One must be prepared to spend hours tending to the orchids to make sure their petals do not wither without humidity. One must be diligent when caring for all plants, regardless of if a single errant brush against an oleander bush would burn your skin.
Such was the life of a florist. Such was the life Celadon City’s Gym provided Erika, with its massive greenhouse and Grass type sanctuary. And she loved her job, she truly did. But that was only a small portion of it.
She really flourished when it came to floral arrangement.
Camellias and carnations, bound with twine. Asters and baby’s breath adorned with coriander.
The act of bringing flowers together in a bouquet, each one enhancing the other’s beauty. One could craft a poem from petals alone, and Erika thought that was beautiful.
Hibiscuses, brought from coasts afar. Irises, planted in soft and loamy soil.
It was hard work. So many flowers could mean so many things. She ended up referencing her book often- the one with the green cover, worn by months of use and love.
It had to be perfect.
Perhaps some jasmine next. Sorrel, too.
The train ride from Celadon to Saffron was manageable enough. Though Erika was never fond of subway stations, she could endure all of the ten minutes it would take just this once.
She pressed the bouquet to her chest as other passengers crowded around her. The thick smell of honeysuckle calmed her nerves.
Flowers were difficult things to some. But Erika would argue that those who claimed their difficulty were simply wrong. Simply confusing the word difficulty with differently. In a sense, because she knew they weren’t in similar word groups.
Not every flower was alike. A maypop was different from a daffodil. A rose’s thorns did not hurt the same way a Kantonian flowering quince’s did. But they were still flowers. And they looked beautiful bound in a bouquet.
…Hm. Where was she going with this? Erika lost her train of thought.
Oh. Speaking of trains. Hers had found its way to the station.
She drew her shawl closer and stepped onto the platform. The paper crinkled in her arms.
Being a florist was not without its hardships, of course. The tools were thick and heavy, especially for someone drawn to bouts of tiredness and weakness, such as herself. Challengers sometimes trampled through the carefully placed bushes and picked at the flowerbeds in between battles. Some would profusely apologize once Erika voiced her concerns. Others would simply send out their Beedril or Pidgeot and demand a match.
And sometimes, Erika would sit in front of a barren flower vase, books strewn about the table, and realize she had no idea where to start. Names of flowers would bubble to her lips and clog her throat like pollen, and that would be it.
But that was fine. Erika didn’t mind. Because those didn’t define was being a florist was.
Being a florist was walking through Saffron’s streets, to a small row of houses on the outskirts.
Being a florist was standing in front of her door, politely knocking and cradling the gift in your arms.
Being a florist was seeing her open the door, lips spreading into a smile, feeling your heart beat against your chest.
“Erika! What are you doing here?”
Being a florist was smiling back. It was holding out the bouquet and watching Sabrina’s face melt into shock and awe. The honeysuckles and carnations blooming with the yarrow and jasmine, quiet verses in a poem penned in pistils and stamens.
“It’s for you.”
Being a florist meant being able to share your love when words weren’t enough. It meant being able to speak a second language, conveying feelings through gorgeous colors.
Perhaps that’s why Erika loved flowers so much.
…She lost her thought process again. It was really a troublesome thing.
But Sabrina was smiling and beckoning her inside, so she supposed she didn’t mind it all that much.
A/N: In summary:
