arthur goes "i'm not smart," but then immediately puts on an act that is pulled straight out of his ass that is so convincing that he is able to get a KNOWN CONMAN to lower his defences (which are going to be pretty high since he's actively hiding from law enforcement) and basically admit to the crime that he is actively wanted for.

Honestly I think the saddest thing about the Nightbringer timeline to me is just how alone Diavolo is. Tbh, the only person he really has at this point is Barbatos (and I would never devalue their relationship. It’s my favorite in the franchise. An elderich monstrosity swearing undying loyalty and being a friend and parental figure to an abused and othered child will ALWAYS get me)
even Mephisto, there’s a distance there because of their upbringing and the current political situation in the Devildom.
Yes, Diavolo says he helped the brothers for selfish reasons… and that’s true to an extent! But the fact that people who think he’s taking advantage of them for the sake of using them for the Devildom have been vehemently proven wrong. He’s literally just lonely, and is in fact going against the grain of how the nobility wants him to treat them as much as he can.
Is it healthy to keep people in his life by having them swear loyalty to him? No. But imo, it I do think it is a purposeful parallel to how controlling of his brothers Lucifer is. They are both pride demons with similar daddy issues, after all. Diavolo just didn't have a family surrounding him to look after
Except he’s on the outside of that. He doesn't want to be, but he is. At least in the current timeline we had those arcs where Diavolo was able to form more genuine connections to the brothers. I loved that!! But now in the Nightbringer timeline… he’s having to deal with so much and at the same time has none of those connections to the brothers any more.
Idk. It just makes me a hundred times more sad than anything else. Sorry not sorry.
Especially since Solmare refuses to let Diavolo romancers prioritize and care about him in any way.

GtWAC Day 1:
Reblog your go to comfort fic
If you have not read The Stranding (and by extension, The Rescue) by the darling @belethlegwen you are deeply missing out! The sheer amount of content is truly a blessing, and considering its still being updated?? ASDFJHSLK
Belle is an incredible story teller, and this shines through in her writing so well I feel like I'm getting flashbanged by talent.
You know that typical writing advice about not introducing too many characters, especially early on as it divides the reader's attention?? BELLE STOMPS ON THAT.
AND
IT
WORKS
I genuinely can't get over how much I am in love with her characters. I must admit- I am the typical reader with one too many bonks to the head that can't seem to focus on/ remember/ care about more than 3-5 characters- that is not the case here.
Every character she introduces has my interest piqued- each one feeling alive and at home in their setting. And its not just likeable in the sense of "oh I'd be friends with them" (and she absolutely has many characters I'd love to be friends with)- its these raw and real characterizations that make you like them as a character.
They have their own mystery to them too- even if its not direct. Her characters make you wonder more about their past and why they act the way they do. They can be frustrating, immature, stubborn, even cruel- but they feel so deeply real.
Both written works from Sizeable Ship Wrecks are among my favorite things I've read- both inside and outside of the G/t sphere to the point I feel as though I could shamelessly recommend this to someone outside of the G/t community and be confident they would enjoy it.

There are 2 things I want for Diluc in regards to characterization
1) I want him and Kaeya to reconcile, I need it even. We've gotten hints of it sprinkled around but I need them to commit. I need them to be brothers again
2) I want diluc to realize that he doesn't need to be chained to his father's legacy. I want him to heal from his father's death more and not be chained to it, that he never needed his father's approval and he is his own person. That his father would be proud of him and even if he wasn't it wouldn't matter, he never needed it in the first place

The Alice in Wonderland/Through The Looking Glass books are the only 'all a dream' narratives that I will accept without complaint, because they are the only versions of this trope that portray what dreaming is actually like.
None of this 'consistent characterisation', or 'subplots', or 'logical sequence of events', just:
"…and I was in a shop, but the shop keeper was a sheep, and she was knitting, and I wanted to get something off the shelves but they were too high up and then I was outside for some reason and I was talking to Humpty Dumpty who wanted me to admire his new cravat but it was a belt really, and also the whole thing was actually a giant chessboard…"
Like tell me that doesn't sound exactly like someone trying to describe what they dreamt last night.
