sniper's loft bed headcanons pls 👁️👁️

omg.,., ehehe.,., i’m soo glad you asked this is something i am Not at All Insane About.,., ehee.,., and i actually think its probably for the best that i elaborate on this here since there really isn’t a graceful way to fit posts like this within a fic SKDFKSD so!! let’s get to it! starting off by saying i’ve been in and out of motorhomes, trucks with camper shells, vans, etc my entire life (though i would be doing it a lot more in my adult life if i could find ways to not have Every Bug On Earth eat me alive ;_; gwah!) so i guess i’m just a little biased for what i see In My Mind. i have yet to sketch out/floorplan out sniper’s van layout itself In My Mind but let’s just keep it vague enough to say it’s nothing flashy, but it’s cozy and Aged and… lived in! i’ve talked about it before in one of my Many headcanon posts but i think he was always taught that he doesn’t need material things and while i wouldn’t say he’s a hoarder by any means, i think he tries to convince himself everything in his home has a Practical Application just so he can justify hanging onto it! i think sniper is v sentimental and the stuff he chooses to keep might be a little “unconventional” by average standards (ie he doesn’t have lots of photos of his family, but kept his mum’s handmade quilts and his dad’s old knife and hunting rifle. also presses flowers and would keep the eggshell of when he and medic first ate breakfast in bed together, etc) but i could ALSO make a whole other post about just little knicknacks i think you’d find in sniper’s home at any given time HEHE… but i’m doing my best to stay on track so!!

i’m going to preface this with IM SORRY for the “pinterest looking ass” photos to describe what i’m talking about but just use this as a Basic Jumping Off Point. Not as the Literal Visual. work with me here… so i think sniper’s bed has LOTS of pillows and blankets. if you’ve ever slept in one of those loft bed camper van beds you’d know that those walls are cold and hard and don’t really hold heat in all that well! i think the blankets are a combination of furs he has (though he rolls up and stores them when its hot out), sherpa/wool, knit blankets and quilts, etc. all of different sizes and weights. whatever makes him comfortable! pillows are extremely worn in (as are the blankets; you could find lots of mends on them!) and comfortable just the way sniper likes them. i think he has so many layers because he sleeps naked and likes to be able to adjust what parts of his body are covered and what parts aren’t. he’s the king of sticking one of those loooong legs out of the covers, or having only his tummy covered and the rest of him exposed, etc! he likes being able to change things quickly to suit his needs. this is also great for draping something over his shoulders when he’s laying out on top of his van at night watching the stars or sitting in a lawn chair feeding hoots!

the space is small, so i think he’d also have a “nightstand” which really is just a “coffeetable book” (ie a big-ish hard cover book) of some subject he’s interested in that he’d keep pressed against the “long wall” of the camper that has just a battery-powered plastic lantern (for reading before bed ehe) on it, a worn-out old book of poetry or some kind of book he’s read a thousand times that he likes skimming before bed (this is not to be confused with the Utility Books he reads at others times about survivalism, gun cleaning, etc. this is a Wind Down Specific book), and aheh, when he starts really falling for medic, something else too… but i’ll discuss that later in my fics! ;-) if i’m being really self-indulgent i think he also has a stuffed animal from his childhood that he’s still hung onto all these years, but he keeps him stored away safely in a pillowcase because he doesn’t want it getting lost or damaged! :’( also he’s just a huge cuddlebug imo, so he likes having things he can Grab or fling his leg or arm over in his sleep (pillows, bunched up blankets, etc)! the space is small but he makes it very homey! HEHEHE

8. what's the most fun and the least fun parts about your process

most fun is definitely coloring!!!!! i love slapping colors on the canvas and seeing what works and then shading it is like a brother to me

and then my least favorite is lineart bc i am Not Good with even lines but i also don't have the patience to learn lineless art so by god am i redrawing the same line five hundred times in a row!

13. how long do you usually take on a piece

depends on how motivated i am tbh!!! it could take anywhere between about a day to literal months (that does remind me that i do have a piece that i have been working on for several months and would like to finish within the year oh shit)

19. how often do you draw

oughougfhuosd i doodle almost every day and i sit down and try to draw every day but college is kicking my ass and my attention span has taken a major hit so it's usually every other week that i actually start a new piece orz

20. a piece from this year that you're really proud of

okay so i have three that i am very tied between THREE TWO ONE GO

first we have Girlboss doing Girlboss Shit(TM) and i like how i did the colors turned out on this one :3

i'm very proud of how the angle on this one turned out!! and also the rim light, i fucking LOVE how it looks

and finally!! macaque!!! i think this piece is the first time i've dipped into furry art and it is very fun, i do really like drawing guys who happen to also be animals!!!

TOP 10 BOOKS ON FANFICTION.NET BASED ON NUMBER OF FANFICTION (1999-2022)

To make this bar chart race, all series titles in the Books Section on November 29 (or the closest date to it) of every year were copy-pasted from Wayback Machine to Google Sheets, rearranged according to number of fanworks, and then inputted to Flourish to turn into a bar chart race.

Hitchhiker's Guide to [...] is short for Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Romance of the 3 [...] is short for Romance of the 3 Kingdoms.

In 2000-2003, FFN used Miscellaneous Novels as a catch-all tag for all books that didn’t have their own category yet. It was then renamed to Misc. Books in 2004-2007 before it was removed by 2008.

In 1999, fanfiction weren’t divided into sections like Anime/Manga, TV, Books, etc. yet. It was just a small list of mixed fandoms.

Anne Rice Vampire Chronicles was actually in third place in the year 2000 with 126 fanfiction. However, it was the only year FFN had fanfiction for her works, that’s why it doesn’t turn up in the bar chart race.

In 2001, a new category called Harry Potter Author Fics was in 4th place with 888 fanfiction, but this category was removed by the following year.

FFN also hosted Vampire Hunter fanfiction in 2001-2002, but was later on removed because its author L. K. Hamilton didn't want fanfiction of her works.

The Tamora Pierce category was in the Books Section from 2001-2009 as a catch-all category for Pierce’s works before it was removed by 2009.

Similarly, the L.J. Smith category was in the Books Section from 2000-2007 as a catch-all category for Smith’s works before it was removed sometime in 2009.

I've decided to keep the author categories in the bar chart race since most if not all of their series did not get their own category until their author's category was removed.

Originally, the fanfiction list was sorted alphabetically too, but was changed to number of fics at around early 2013.

By November 2013, FFN started abbreviating numbers above 1,000 to K, so exact numbers aren't available for series with more than 1,000 fanfiction.

This bar chart was made with the assumption that the numbers listed in the Books section are correct. I can't seem to get the same numbers for some of these series when I go to the specific series' page and toggle ratings, other filters, and language to All though... I'm not sure where the discrepancy is coming from. (And it’s not the crossover fic numbers that need to be added to serie’s total fics from what I’ve observed.)

For example, HP currently has 844k fanfiction, but if you go to HP’s page and toggle ratings, other filters, and language to All, you’ll only get 800k fics. HP also has 51.3K crossover fanfiction, but adding those two still doesn’t equate to 844k...

SO LIKE the basis of akira's backstory is that they're the middle child of four other siblings, and their family runs a somewhat big tech company that combines machinery with mystics!!

his relationship with his family is FUCKED though, he was the runt of the litter and had a lot of health issues when he was younger (I imagine he still deals with fatigue + chronic pain now as a young teen, but he's mostly gotten better) so his parents basically kept him in the house in an (at first) ineffective but well-meaning attempt to keep him safe, and then just....... i'm gonna be honest, the best way to put it would be that they fuckign forgot abt him - not in a "what's that? we have five children and not four?" way but more like "yeah akira's totally fine, why would his needs have changed drastically as he grew up?" plus they're super committed to their work, and would rather not take time away from that to like,, include their other son in shit.

(the irony here is that they're really good parents with the rest of their kids, letting them contribute to the family company but making sure they eat and rest while doing so, but they're SHIT with akira. so it's like. they get a D in parenting)

she genuinely believes that if she shows her parents she has something she's good at, they'll treat her like the rest of her siblings </3 so they hop from hobby to hobby to see what they're best at + he has a habit of mimicking his siblings to see if it's something that they're doing that makes them better in their parents eyes.

tldr; webcore hyperpop kid is very sad but lacks the emotional experience to unpack those Feelings
