Beautiful minority women deserve attention

I’m in a writting mood today. Looking through my dashboard and through others blogs recently I’ve been feeling kind of tense. I couldn’t understand why. Then I thought about the plethora of pictures I come across that are stunning but are always of thin caucasian blonde young women. Maybe its just the people I follow but I definitely have seen it creating an unrealistic standard for myself. I remember being seven and listening to Brittany Spears and watching romances and other films where the women I looked up to were majority blonde, white and thin. At such a young age I came to despise the hair on my body and desired blonde hair. I remember telling someone I wanted blonde hair around the age of 8 and them telling me it wouldn’t go with my complexion. My soul was crushed. At the time I didn’t have the development to understand I was striving for the perfection and beauty I saw in those women I looked up to. I’ve still struggled with this, albeit not as much with the body positivity movement. Seeing women with hair on their bodies took my breath away and seeing pictures of minorities with headtitles reading “beautiful latina, hindu, korean, etc” of all size and shapes transformed me. I didn’t know I needed to see those images of women like me to serve as some kind of an affirmation that I could see beauty in myself as well, but I did. I follow a lot of people on my tumblr and there’s no doubt about it, they are beautiful, and not just because of their physical appearance but their personalities and empathy towards spreading positivity amongst women. I guess I’m writing this because this movement or positivity for all its great intentions doesn’t seem to reach minorities on here. If it does, its a rarity, an exception. Almost like if an image is shared its a sympathetic reblog. I want women of all races to see each other as beautiful and be cognizant that our actions are matching our words to strive for acceptance and love towards everyone. I’m a cuban woman who would LOVE to see more women of color being represented as striking and beautiful on her dashboard. And i am inviting other women of color to find peace and accept yourselves as beautiful and up to par to those boho, traveling, outdoorsy pictures that caucasian women post! You will never be white, but this doesn’t mean you aren't beautiful too. I wish someone would have told me this when I was at an impressionable age. I mean no hate or negativity to my caucasian sisters just trying to share some love to the women of color out there too ❤️

I pray we will B more open about reproductive health and stop whispering about our periods. YES we all have them but some of us are living half lives physically and emotionally because of these demons living in and around our wombs.
