Part 1 - Canon Divergence

To celebrate @klarolineauseason I’ve piled together all the fics I know and love into one place, to share with y’all. I’ve tried to include the well-known classics in the fandom that I adore, but also some more obscure ones. Hopefully there are some you haven’t read!

Deal of a Lifetime by Anya-Paradox

One-shot. Caroline meets Klaus when she’s still human, while on vacation with her father. They have a summer fling while she’s still sixteen, and a few years later after going their separate ways, she finds out ‘Nick’ is actually Klaus Mikaelson, the same guy who’s trying to kill her friends. I loved reading this fic, as it captures all the innocence of Caroline at sweet sixteen and falling for her first love, but also the character development that comes in their years apart, and how Caroline is a little older, a little wiser when she meets Klaus next. She’s in love with Klaus, but she’s not about to let him walk all over her. She’s worth being put first. And she knows it.

O’Holy Night by BelleMorte180 / @bellemorte180

One-shot. Another ‘Caroline meets Klaus early’ au. However, this time she’s a freshly turned vampire, confused and alone, forced to relive everything Damon did to her as the compulsion slowly wears off now she’s no longer human. Klaus finds her before her friends do, and it changes everything. At first, Caroline is aware she’s just a pawn in Klaus’ game, but as they spend more time with each other and Caroline learns of what Klaus wants - and he of who Caroline Forbes really is - this begins to change. It’s a beautifully crafted fic, and I loved how it slowly had them fall for each other, even though it’s only around 30k. And hey, because it’s one of Erica’s fics, you know Damon will get his due in the end. 😈

Their Nightly Ritual by bellyamywinchester

Multichap. Complete. Now this? This has to be my favourite canon divergence fic EVER. Dear god, it’s so good. It’s quite an old fic now, and it may not be a 500k enemies to lovers slowburn that you read at 3am, but it gives just as much serotonin for your brain. Set right after 5x11, Caroline is at college and Klaus has kept his promise to walk away and never see her again. But we all know Klaus - he’ll find a loophole if there is one. And fortunately for us, the loophole turns out to be he promised she would never see him ever again - he never specified about never hearing his voice again. And so, begins an exchange of nightly phone calls where Klaus asks Caroline about her day. Both of them are never even in the same room throughout the entire fic, but somehow this author has captured every nuanced aspect of Klaus and Caroline’s relationship, the insecurities on both sides, the struggle Caroline has in allowing herself to love Klaus and the easy love Klaus bestows her in contrast. It’s just a masterpiece. Go read it.

One-shot. This is so beautifully written, honestly fills me with joy. The concept and ideas behind this fic are so original too - it’s certainly nothing I’ve seen before. Fresh from leaving Stefan at the alter, Caroline spends her wedding day in a graveyard, burying her past life of make-pretend. Klaus is there, simply because she asked him to be, like always, and the fic ends hopefully, promising a new beginning for our favourite otp.

The Way Back by Cupcakemolotov / @cupcakemolotov

Two-shot. Complete. Another treasure. Having spent a near-distant future with Klaus only for it to end in tragedy, Caroline ends up sent back into the past by Bonnie to fix things before they go so very wrong. Little does she know, she wasn’t the only one sent back in time.

Multichap. Complete. Probably one you’ve already read as its a fandom classic, but amazing all the same. Caroline falls in love with Klaus without knowing he’s Klaus, and as always, things spiral from there.

Give Me Love and it’s follow up Love Interruption by idiot-wind89

Multichap. Complete. A classic canon divergence au in the sense it diverges directly from canon, Caroline and Klaus becoming endgame. To this day, I still vividly remember a scene in this fic where Klaus takes Caroline horse riding, when she’s supposed to be distracting him from her friends’ plots. Which is why I blame this author entirely for my obsession to read as many fics with these two interacting with horses, or riding together once more.

Til I Tasted You by KiryTheStitchWitch / @kirythestitchwitch

Multichap. Recently completed! Bonnie completes a spell to find Caroline’s mate, both of them expecting it to be Tyler and well - you already know how this goes. There is a magnificent quote from Klaus in this fic that honestly had me swooning: “As if I could be jealous of a boy who has no concept of what it is like to touch the sun and then spend a millennium looking for daylight in every strangers’ face.” Like. Take a moment to let those words sink in. Like dear god. Klaus you smooth motherfucker - thank you Kiry, for forever ruining my expectations for men, I hope you’re proud.

Blood and a Quick Murder (and isn’t this how it always is?) by KS_Caster / @ks-caster

One-shot. Has to be one of my favourite one-shots in the fandom, due to its originality and the utter brilliance of it all. Through magical hijinks, Caroline ends up human again and goes straight to Klaus, asking for his blood and a quick murder - hers. This fic showcases the differences between Caroline and her friends, how they always hated vamprism while she never regretted becoming a vampire, despite it not being her choice. It also sees Caroline finally arrive in New Orleans. What more could we ask for?

Red Queen by KS_Caster / @ks-caster

Multichap & Series. Part 3 of the series is still a WIP, but parts 1 & 2 are complete and waiting to be read. This was probably one of the first klaroline fics I read, and it still holds up now, years later. I love it immensely, mostly because it explores so much with the characters. There’s some in depth lore of the author’s own making, Klaus doesn’t shy away from his werewolf side which I ADORE OKAY and Caroline is pretty badass too, seeing through Silas’ lies. Klaus also puts Caroline first, seeking The Cure for her in order to save her from dying, rather than for his own ends. It’s an amazing series, highly recommend.

Multichap. Complete. This is a lovely what if au for 3x21. The Mystic Falls gang succeeds in dropping Klaus at the bottom of the ocean, and while her friends celebrate the victory, all Caroline can feel is a paralysing wrongness to it all. So she calls Rebekah, and then she plans a rescue. Absolutely love the idea of this one, go check it out.

The Stubborn Grace of Being Loved Regardless by perfectpro / @helpless-in-sleep

One-shot. I will scream about this fic til the end of my days and then I will scream some more because it’s too fucking perfect, seriously Jenn. How did you come up with this piece of pure perfection? Unlike in canon, Caroline doesn’t become a vampire in this fic and instead becomes sidelined from her little group of friends, kept out of the loop about supernatural drama. Which is probably for the best, as there is no way in hell I could see this Caroline Forbes spending any time in close proximity with Damon Salvatore. This fic explores the full extent of what he did to her while she was human, and at it’s heart, the one-shot is about Caroline’s trauma and recovery. Along the way, she falls for Klaus yes, and - slight spoiler here - there may even be some Damon murder involved offscreen, but’s it’s Caroline’s story told here, first and foremost. And it’s beautiful, so bloody beautiful. Never have I read a fic so beautifully crafted with such fine detail and respect. Honestly, leaves me lost for words.

Wayfarer by perfectpro / @helpless-in-sleep

One-shot.  The perfect little fic to cure the woes canon bestowed us. Years in the future, Caroline is travelling the world. But travelling alone isn’t what she expected it to be, and Paris certainly isn’t wowing her either. Almost deciding to call it quits and leave, her mind is changed when a familiar face appears. Perfect for solidifying these two are endgame, this fic is short but packs a great hit all the same.

she’s a rainbow by sunnydaisy / @little-miss-sunny-daisy

One-shot. Original!Caroline. The relationship built between Klaus and Caroline in this just incredible. They’ve been a couple for centuries, but like all relationships, this one has its struggles, and they work through it and come out stronger than ever. The fic is also so much fun. The Mystic Falls gang are oblivious to who Klaus and Caroline really are, which leads to some great moments.

Wisteria by sunnydaisy / @little-miss-sunny-daisy

One-shot. Another ‘Caroline meets Klaus early’ au, and probably my absolute favourite of the trope. This fic is packed with so much fluff and make-you-smile moments you’ll be grinning madly by the end. Carolines flees to the coast to escape Mystic Falls for a few days, saddened by Matt’s rejection and still coming to terms with being a vampire herself. In a bar, she meets Klaus, unaware he is also a vampire, and they hit off from there. It’s so cute guys, I just can’t. She tries to compel him and Klaus goes along with it because you can tell he finds her adorable, this blond baby vampire full of sunshine and- god. Just read it before I start crying again over the perfectness of it all.

Ghost by sunshineandfangs / @sunshineandfangs and it’s sequel Help me, please!

One-shot, or technically a two-shot if you count its sequel. This is my other favourite one-shot of the fandom. IT. IS. AMAZING. Like seriously, drop dead, scream into your pillow a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Go read it. Caroline dies when still human, killed by Damon. She watches as Elena softens to her murderer, as Bonnie helps him and Stefan turns into a similar monster. Hate and anger festers and grows, until she’s strong enough to interact with the world she’s barred from. As a ghost, she meets Klaus, and with any loyalty she held for her friends lost the day they left her to die, she helps him break his curse. Spooky, rife with betrayal and thus revenge, this is a great read for fellow chaos demons like myself.

Pet Wolf by these-dreams-go-on / @these-dreams-go-on

Multichap. WIP. Come for the klaroline, stay for the wolf!klaus who is a menace and an absolute delight. Seriously. The chapters where Klaus is stuck in his werewolf form and Caroline unknowingly adopts him as her pet is pure genius and the true highlight of this fic. He chews her dad’s shoes. He growls at boys. He watches freakin TV, fur and all. Asdfghjkl- It’s amazing go read it.

Wicked Schemes by willowaus

Multichap. Complete. A classic. Caroline inherits some badass powers from a forgotten relative and is pulled into the supernatural political shitstorm that is New Orleans. Looks like the city finally has its new Queen.

Good Omens Fic Recs, Round 2

Time for another rec post with some excellent GO fics that have been added to my AO3 bookmarks since the first time I did this!

Multichapter:

Once Upon A Time…

There was a red-haired sorcerer who lived alone in a high tower, and a blond prince who lived in a palace full of people. And they were both of them desperately lonely.

The Kingdoms of Empyrion and the Sorcerers of Apollyon have hated each other for hundreds of years, ever since the Great War. They do not interact, other than to occasionally try to kill one another. And they certainly do not make friends.

Crow is an exhausted sorcerer who just wants everyone to leave him the hell alone: for the Sorcerer’s Council to stop harassing him to live up to his potential, and for wannabe Empyrion Heroes to stop attacking his tower to try and kill him. Until one day when he meets Prince Azra of the High Fells, who doesn’t behave anything like he’s supposed to…

A splendid adventure that brings in the vibes of multiple fairy tales and fantasy stories without being based on any specific one. (See the list of Easter egg references at the end!) It's made clear that Azra is noticeably chubby and that Crow wouldn't want him to be any other way, which is something I always appreciate in a fic. The spice level (E) is higher than I typically read, but the story is well worth a little awkward skimming of sex scenes.

Morningstar Abbey by @andromeda4004

No one who had ever seen Aziraphale Fell in his youth would have supposed him born to be a hero. His situation in life, the character of his father and mother, his own person and disposition, were all equally against him. But when a gentleman is to be a hero, the attractions of a comfortable, quiet home cannot prevent him. Something must and will happen to throw his destiny in his way.

One should never forget that between a hero and his destiny, one will always find a villain.

Trusting parish rector Aziraphale attempts to navigate Regency Bath, the marriage market, and the complexities of his own heart in this take on Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey, written for the Ineffably Austen event, March 2023.

I enjoyed this recently-completed fic very much! The author put a lot of thought into creating a more inclusive version of the Regency era, detailed in the author's notes at the end of each chapter. There's plenty of Georgette Heyer influence along with the Jane Austen.

What We Make of It (Shotgun Wedding) by charlottemadison

The important thing, Crowley tells himself -- the most important thing -- is Adam, his brilliant, creative, empathetic nephew. Being fourteen's hard enough; the kid didn't ask to deal with the weight of the world on top of it.

And if taking care of Adam means Crowley has to tough it out at a job he can’t stand, so be it.

And if Crowley's job means that Adam’s charming English teacher is NOT a romantic possibility, well, that's just how things go.

But the occasional drink with Aziraphale proves hard to resist. They frequent the same pub, so who can object to them saying hello? Briefly sharing a table? Perhaps a little conversation? The painful knowledge that it can’t be anything more -- not without somebody getting fired or sued or both -- well, that can't be helped.

Until Crowley stumbles onto a terribly reckless idea...

Oh my goodness, the gorgeous emotional intensity of this fic! It's the slowest of slow burns, but the pace allows ample room for the gradual realization (for both the characters and the reader) of just how well Crowley and Aziraphale's respective strengths and weaknesses mesh with each other to make a strong, stable whole. As I said about Villainous above, the story is very much worth having to skim over some scenes that are more explicit than I usually like.

You're Just a Little Under Rehearsed by MickyRC (@one-with-the-floor)

Drama teacher Crowley loves directing the Tadfield Community Players' shows—interacting with the rest of the staff at the community center, not so much. So when he meets the new accompanist for this year's musical, he's shocked to find that he might actually like him. Possibly more than like, if he's being honest.

Aziraphale is fresh from leaving a long career as a church pianist, and hoping that a new job will get him out of the lonely rut he's found himself in. The attention and kindness of the flashy community theater director are unexpected, but not unwelcome. Far from it.

But with a community theater to run, a show to put on, and a disgruntled R.P. Tyler looking for any excuse to get rid of Crowley and his theater program, will they be able to make a relationship work? And, more importantly, can they make sure the show still goes on?

Very fun and wholesome, packed with putting-on-a-play shenanigans (Peter Pan, in this case). The Crowley is Good With Kids AO3 tag is in full force here; his interactions with the younger members of the cast, especially the Them, are really well-done.

the many-venomed earth by curtaincall (@fremulon)

It’s the trial of the century: bestselling mystery author Anthony Crowley stands accused of poisoning his former lover. He’s got means (arsenic), motive (the breakup), and opportunity (a meeting the night of the murder); his guilt seems certain.

Certain, that is, to everyone except Lord Aziraphale Eastgate, rare book collector and amateur detective. Aziraphale’s not sure why he’s so convinced of Crowley’s innocence, but he’s determined to save him from the gallows--by finding the real murderer before it’s too late.

This is a mashup with Strong Poison, one of Dorothy Sayers' Lord Peter Wimsey/Harriet Vane novels, and the combination works really well. Peter’s intelligence and post-case moral qualms both transfer nicely onto Aziraphale, and the plot and characters hit the same beats as the original novel without being an exact copy.

Oneshots:

A Soft Kind of Strength by @anonymousdandelion

"Y’r soft,” Crowley mumbles one day, drowsily nuzzling into Aziraphale’s well-cushioned lap. “Ssosoft.”

Aziraphale blinks, smiles bemusedly, and ruffles his partner’s hair. “Yes, dear, I’m well aware. Go back to sleep.”

“Ssssoft,” Crowley repeats, more insistently, and it seems he hasn’t quite dozed off again after all, fixated now on whatever thought grabbed his half-asleep and half-inebriated brain. He lifts his head, rolling so he’s looking up into Aziraphale’s face. “You. Soft. S’good. Good thing. Y’know that, that, that s’good, right?”

I'm a big fan of Soft Aziraphale (in every sense of the word), and this sweet fic makes the excellent point that, rather than his being secretly strong under the softness, his softness is his strength.

Temperance by effing_gravity

In the wake of the Fauxpocalypse, Aziraphale does his utmost to live his best and pettiest life.

In which Aziraphale makes a point of both consciously ignoring Gabriel's remarks about the shape of his corporation and dispensing blessings and gentle encouragement to humans struggling with their own body image issues.

Keeping Tabs by @a-case-of-the-hiccups and FriendshipCastle

A juxtaposition of Heaven's archive of Aziraphale's miracles compared with the sadly lacking state of Hell's temptation logs.

This fic was obviously written by people with cataloguing experience! I like the OCs in charge of Heaven and Hell’s respective departments, especially the tetchy, bespectacled archivist angel Pravuil.

Adopt Don't Shop by @luckyspike

Inspired by Chekhov's cat AU comics 'Good Meowmens', here is a fanfic in which Anathema and Newt are humans, and Aziraphale and Crowley are cats. Not disguised as cats, not trapped in cat bodies, just actual elderly cats that are inseparable.

A truly excellent bit of crack! Aziraphale and Crowley’s personalities come out surprisingly clearly in their cat selves. For extra fun, play spot-the-angel/demon with the other cats at the shelter!

My Comments: Instead of linking in each work in the series, I just linked the entire series up above. And the summary above is actually from the third work in this series. That being said, I absolutely love this series. I didn't know how much I needed parent!Lucifer, until I read this series. Not to mention that I think that they got Sabrina spot on. There are eight pieces in this series, so it is sure to keep you occupied. Down below I'm going to put the word count for the entire series, and the status will have the last update on the newest addition to the series.

My Comments: I originally found this fic because I was aching for more after reading all of the Morningstar Family Values series. I’ll admit this series took a little while to grow on me. But once the author really picked up speed, I got swept away by it. If you love Lucifer and the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, then I recommend giving this one a read!

My Comments: This fic was actually suggested to me by a follower. It had been in my tbr for a while, but I finally decided to give it a go, and let me tell you that I wish I had read this sooner. It’s a brilliant fic that is a much different take than the other fics up above. I really love the direction it went with it, and I love how complicated Sabrina and Lucifer’s relationship is and how they slowly work through it. I highly recommend this fic if you love COAS/Lucifer crossovers and want something that shows the ups and downs of their relationship. I did cut the summary down a lot for the purpose of this rec list, just fyi. This fic is cross posted on ff.net, so I’ll link that down below.

Summary: A series of rapes and murders has shaken the city of San Diego. The Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) of the FBI was consulted to catch the criminals. Before they can really narrow down the suspects, it appears that the pack responsible for the crimes has moved to Los Angeles, where Detectives Daniel Espinoza and Chloe Decker with her partner, Jake Collins, are investigating two separate murders. After realizing how these cases must be connected to the San Diego cases, the BAU is invited to help them catch the monsters responsible.

My Comments: When I first found this fic, the summary sort of confused me, mainly who is Jake Collins?, but the first chapter clears it up. In this series Lucifer and Chloe never become partners, instead Lucifer ends up joining the BAU! Now Chloe does appear in a couple of the fics in this series, but she is sort of OOC and like early season 4 Chloe, and I can see why the author wrote her that way, and I do think it worked really well for the story. This is a 13 part series, and mainly follows Criminal Minds throughout the show, with a few original cases thrown in. I will admit that it had been 7 years since I watched Criminal Minds, but this series reminded me of why I love the show so much. I also love the world building in this fic, and the supernatural elements and how it really builds on it. I love the backstories behind everything, and how it takes some minor characters from Lucifer, mainly being Candy, and really develops them into major characters. Plus it has a few OCs thrown in there for fun! I can’t recommend this series enough. This series is ongoing, and the author has promised more fics in the series to come!

My Comments: So I wrote the summary above, since the author’s original summary was just taken directly from the fic, which doesn’t really work that well for a rec list. Anyway this is just an amazing crossover, I love how the entire world reacts to Lucifer just being Lucifer. And Tony and Lucifer’s friendship is just awesome! Not to mention Lucifer is a total badass in this fic, which is just a delight! Highly recommend this fic!! This fic is incomplete, and last update was over a year ago, so it may be abandoned, but I would still give it a read!

My Comments: This is a pretty awesome crossover with Lucifer meeting the Howling Commandos, and later the Avengers. I love the friendship between Steve and Lucifer, and Lucifer and Thor, not to mention Maze just being a total badass. I can’t recommend this fic enough! You do need an account to read this fic.

My Comments: So this is another Lucifer-raising-Matt fic, like the one above. But this one focuses more on the past than the previous fic does. And I just absolutely fell in love with the relationship between Matt and Lucifer. I highly recommend this one!

My Comments: I found this fic when I was scrolling through Lucifer crossovers and absolutely fell in love with it. This is a great crossover and I love all of the Umbrella Academy meeting the Lucifer crew. Not to mention the bond between Lucifer & Vanya, and Vanya & Maze is just to die for. Highly recommend this one.

My Comments: This is a fic I’ve been following since the first chapter was posted, and I’ve just fallen in love with eadavech new chapter. The pairing is Klaus/Elena, which is a little weird, but the author hasn’t even gotten to that part yet. And I’m sure that they’ll make it work. I still recommend giving this fic a chance.

His situation in life, the character of his father and mother, his own person and disposition, were all equally against him. But when a gentleman is to be a hero, the attractions of a comfortable, quiet home cannot prevent him. Something must and will happen to throw his destiny in his way. One should never forget that between a hero and his destiny, one will always find a villain.

Trusting parish rector Aziraphale attempts to navigate Regency Bath, the marriage market, and the complexities of his own heart in this take on Jane Austen's Northanger Abbey, written for the Ineffably Austen event, March 2023.

I haven’t read Northanger Abbey in ages, so I cannot vouch for how close to the book it runs, but the authors has all sorts of notes (I have learned about driving unicorn and playing piquet), and notes when they deviate for story reasons, which isn’t often. It’s very period accurate, except for allowing queer marriages. It’s been making my Mondays much better for months now

Hello whump community!

Ive decided that this would be a great time to show you all what I’ve been working on in my free time. It's not nearly finished but I don't care. I'm going to share it anyway. So without further ado, introducing...

Aceofwhump's Fanfic Masterlist!!

This has been a massive, ongoing project of mine for a while now in which I am endeavoring to catalog and categorize every fanfiction I've ever read/bookmarked. I fear this project will never be complete but I’m going to share it now anyway.

Inside, you will find links and summaries to the fanfictions I've read over the years on both AO3 and FF.net (although I am still imputing the ones from FF.net). Each fic is sorted by the specific whumpee that they center on. So there’s a page for Danny Williams, for Mike Warren, for Lucifer Morningstar, and many many more. The fics are 90% whump with a touch of fluffy ones thrown in too. This list is based on the fics I’ve read so it leans heavily on my favorite whumpees and my favorite tropes. 

I've been working on categorizing every fic by its tropes (so theoretically you could search for say seizure fics or sick fics) but that's taking me a loooong time because I have to reread every fic in order to determine what kind of categories to make and to look for the specific tropes. So for now you'll have to make do with the fic summaries and using the search function. I've only gone through like two of the whumpees in terms of categorizing so that part of the sheet is incomplete but when it’s done, each whumpee will have their specific trope categories so you won't necessarily find the same tropes in each category but it should help narrow down the fics better once I’m done. 

The list gets updated all the time so check back in every now and then. There might be something new. I will also update this post when and if I ever get the categories done.

And you all can help me with this as well! If you read a fic on the list and feel like sharing what tropes are hidden inside, send me a message with them. Does it have torture? broken arm/leg/rib/etc.? Does the whumpee cry? Get kidnapped? Have a panic attack? Let me know! Help a girl out! And if I've accidentally missed categorized something please shoot me a message so I can fix it.

This is on Google Sheets and it's a massive document so it may take a moment to open. If anyone needs helps navigating it please don't hesitate to let me know. While you can use it on mobile, it does work best on desktop in terms of filtering and search function, just so you all know :)

And you may all continue to ask me for fic recs as well of course because I'm always willing to do some ao3/ff digging to find what you're looking for :)

Laura’s Deckerstar Fic Recs (Part 1)

So I finally finished bookmarking all my favourite Deckerstar fics and ended up with 99 bookmarks (and that was after trimming back a little). So now I am going to start a fic rec series where I share five of them at a time. All of the fics contain Deckerstar, but not all of them are Deckerstar centric. The list contains a wide variety of tropes and ratings, and even a couple of crossovers and AUs. It contains both one-shots and multicapter fics. Most are completed works but there are some WIPs, a few of which have not been updated in a while, so fair warning.

Disclaimer: These recs have no real ranking and are simply being shared in the order in which I bookmarked them. And just because I say more about some than I do others, does not mean that those fics are “better” or that I like them more.

Anyways, on with Part 1 of Laura’s Deckerstar Fic Recs! (I’ll think of a better name for it later)

Detour (with Jigsaw Puzzles) by HiroMyStory

Rating: Mature Status: Complete Word Count: 17210 (3 chapters) Author’s Summary:  An accident leaves Chloe and Lucifer snowed in.

Rec Notes: A great Christmas themed story filled with plenty of post-Devil face reveal angst and a happy ending (written before Season 4, so no Eve or Father Kinley or trips to Rome). Tropes include: snowed in together (obviously) and bed sharing.

Serpent Delivery by Dacelin (Good Omens crossover)

Rating: Teen Status: Complete Word Count: 120355 (69 chapters - Lucifer would approve) Author’s Summary: When Lucifer orders the demons back to Hell, he sends ALL the demons back. And a certain Serpent of Eden would really just like to get back to his love and life in Soho. But Lucifer has other plans for the demon who botched the apocalypse. Set immediately following the finale of season 4 of Lucifer, and twenty years after the book version of Good Omens.

Rec Notes: I’m not normally one for crossovers, but these two fandoms just work so well together. And the best part about this particular series is that it’s hard to pick just which fandom is the “main” focus. The writing itself is fantastic and the characterisation is pretty spot on for all the characters up to and including Crowley’s plants. I also love how both this and its sequel have a good amount of humour worked into the writing style without it becoming a crackfic or taking anything away from the serious points of the story.

P.S. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the novel and are only familiar with Good Omens as a TV show; the plot is still easy to follow.

Beginning of Eternity by Dacelin (Good Omens crossover)

Rating: Teen Status: Complete Word Count: 123,755 (65 chapters) Author’s Summary: Peace between Heaven and Hell is a lofty goal, but not everyone is onboard. With threats of invasion whispering through Hell, it's really a terrible time to plan a wedding - except no one has told Lucifer what's going on. The council is desperate to halt the danger, even if it means making a deal with the Endless. Crowley's really regretting ever agreeing to making deliveries.

Rec Notes: If you liked my previous rec, then great news! Because this is its sequel! The balance of fandoms is even more even in this instalment, but it does go a bit more in-depth on both sides. For instance, Gabriel from the Good Omens TV show is a major player, so book knowledge alone may not be enough, and there are characters and concepts from The Sandman comic series, which is what the Lucifer TV series is based on. But if you aren’t familiar with these, don’t worry, the author has got your back! As the third instalment of the series, they have made a Characters and Information Sheet! I reckon you could muddle through without it, but I highly recommend giving it a quick glance over if you need to.

P.S. Look out for all the subtle (and not so subtle) references to The Good Place.

Rating: Mature Status: Complete Word Count: 131015 (26 chapters) Author’s Summary: The Devil is real. A sentence Chloe Decker never believed until Lucifer Morningstar burned out her skepticism with his hellfire eyes. It's a "Hell" of a reality shift, but Chloe realizes she may not have time for gradual acceptance when she discovers that one of the bodies in her most recent murder investigation isn't human. Worse still, the next target might be Lucifer. A story that begs the question: who prays for Satan?  [Post-S3 finale continuation. Deckerstar.]

Rec Notes: I’m sure you all saw this one coming. There is a reason why this fic is so popular and that reason is because it is brilliant! It is set post-Series 3 finale but written before Series 4 so, once again, no Rome or Father Kinley, just Chloe trying to cope with her new knowledge of Devils and Demons. The one thing I will warn people about is that it starts with a brief description of Lucifer’s fall, but don’t let that dissuade you if you are not into that sort of story (you can even skip it if you really want as it serves more as foreshadowing than anything else). The fic may delve into Lucifer’s past, but it is very much plot-focused on the now.

The Night Before by FearTheSpork

Rating: Explicit Status: Complete Word Count: 6947 (1 chapter) Author’s Summary: A smutty oneshot in which we see Chloe bite off more than she can chew when babysitting Lucifer. Also smut.

Rec Notes: This is a great smutfic set somewhere around Season 1, so Chloe is still heavily in denial, and Lucifer is bringing his annoyingly confident flirting A-game. It’s a highly entertaining read. There is also a really cute, albeit short, morning after scene, which is probably the thing that makes this fic so memorable for me.
