“You want to know what I hate most about that stupid resistance?” Doc asks one morning.

“Why did this come up? Literally nothing we’ve talked about so far has led to this conversation happening.” Etho says, passing a wet plate to Beef.

“Doc just hasn’t gotten his weekly complaint quota filled, Etho, just roll with it.” Beef says, taking the plate and drying it off.

“Shut up and ask me what I hate about them.”

“DOC MY GREAT FRIEND WHAT DO YOU HATE MOST ABOUT THAT STUPID RESISTANCE!!” Bdubs yells, mouth full of food.

“Thank you Bdubs. It’s that STUPID REN GUY.”

“Oh my god SAME!!” Bdubs agrees, as is his nature to do.

“See I don’t usually dislike the new hermits! I get that they can be shy and all that, but he’s been with us for a season and he still acts so stand offish!! It’s not always bad! Maybe he’s just shy but no.”

Doc slams a hand down on the table.

“In meetings he is so nice!! A bit quiet but nice!! And then, when we’re doing meetings and things with the resistance he looks like he wants to personally kill us! Like he hates us and it is personal!!”

“I trust Iskalls opinion on company! Yes! But even Iskall must see how mean that dog guy is!!”

“LITERALLYYYY like Iskall rules!! But it sucks having to deal with Iskalls bodygaurd whenever you want to have a conversation!!!”

(“Should we just let them keep talking.” Etho whispers. Beef responds. “They wouldn’t stop if we tried. It’s too early for this.”)

If Scar was to win (ScarsweepScarsweepScarsweep) I think he should be the Earth. Grian and Scare are so Sun and Earth coded. The Sun and the Earth circle around each other, Sun will kill the Earth eventually but he stays. The Sun flares but he stays.

The Sun gives warmth, the Sun burns. The Earth is charismatic and beautiful, the Earth kills and consumes. Scar-Icarus parallels from 100hours fits so well too.

He has green eyes and Convex based of of vexes are blue and ofc the brown hair. It's also a funny to think that the guy who symbolizes the Earth is a capitalist. Cub can be Kepler and should be in my opinion.

Mumbo could be Black holes. No explanation.

I think Tango would be Comets, the visual of his fire hair fits and I feel like there's probably some symbolism but I don't watch Tango that much sorry.

Joel needs to be Jupiter because of his inspiration from Zeus. Bigbeans being the biggest planted is also funny.

Also, if Grian is the Sun then how about Bdubs? The next best thing I could think of is either Time or Light. Personally I think he should be Time, it's thematic. If I remember correctly, he's killed people because of clocks, the moment he gets the clock someone's death is inevitable. Time makes death inevitable.

So Etho is the Void right? Like canonically if I remember correctly? I'm not sure. So like the Void/Space? Etho and Bdubs being Space/Void and Time is cool.

Cleo is fit to be Death, no explanation too.

Bigb being Mercury would be funny because Mercury is the god of communication and he gaslights gatekeeps and girlbosses. He's also closest to the Sun so blud gets burnt like a cookie.

So like- Neptune the god is related to Jupiter the god but we're NOT PUTTING that in the symbolism here. Anyways, Lizzie could be Neptune because of her being the blue axolotl in Empires season 1 because Neptune is related to the sea.

Maybe Gem could be Pluto because she's new?

Jimmy, canary boy, he was fated to die so maybe that's his thing. Fate itself was Fated to die. Also, fortune telling by using the stars, Astromancy, is a thing so Flower Husband fans there you go.

For my own memory, in the hopes that Scar will put yesterday´s stream on his VODs channel because it was amazing and featured among other things:

Scar calling Etho “the Maple Prince”

Xisuma trolling Scar by mixing up Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Star Trek, and Harry Potter

Mumbo showing Scar the llama death chamber, and Scar praising him for being weird

Scar and Mumbo having a conversation about social media and AI

Scar telling Etho not to worry and that he´s thinking about moving the mail box himself (after all he had two best-selling redstone shops so surely he´s qualified!); Etho: well now I´m worried… But right afterwards Etho says people forget that Scar is actually quite skilled at the game

Etho is just interrupting people today and Scar suggests just collecting people to procrastinate

I approve of Scar encouraging Etho to participate in MCC again

Etho asking how Scar got stamps already, Scar saying he´s been a part of a lot of Life series, Etho: “you and your wily words, you can get anything you want…”

Big Salmon decreed mercury = good

Cleo shows up! “lag busting” is the new “it lagged into my inventory”

Scar definitely not encouraging Cleo to kill all other villagers after setting up her own trading hall. Cleo wants organic free range villagers.

Cleo trying to sell the monstrosolith as a giant billboard

Cleo proved she can do valley girl voice, Scar and Etho are shocked. Then they´re discussing what "no cap" means. (Etho on stream: “big true, no cap.”) They talked about poggers, and Scar going wild with his pants off (after Cleo exploded them), and Etho didn´t know what Stitch is.

Scar starts talking about Disney and it takes him a minute to realize Cleo and Etho have run away

More maple syrup discussion (Etho telling Cleo if she likes the brand she gets it´s fine), and a frantic ride-by and log-out by Grian

Cleo and Scar want to start a cult. Etho wants to be a frat instead, something cooler. Frats have fewer rules, they´re more like “pants off, it´s fine.” Scar says he´d ask too many questions to be in a cult, Etho points out he could be cult leader. Cleo immediately offers to be his second, the person who does all the dirty work.

Shoe talk. Scar shows off his twelve-year-old shoes on stream.

Making fun of Etho´s set-up! Scar is horrified. Etho talks about his Kleenex box where his mike stands. It matches his desk! It has his settings written on it! Also his space bar broke during DO2 but he got used to it. Scar decides they need reinforcements and calls Bdubs over. Ren also shows up.

Etho mentions he didn´t get a Decked Out 2 desk mat (took to long to think about it) and Tango logs in to write in chat that he´s disappointed and logs out again

A wild Iskall approaches in the distance. Etho: trident brother!

Etho invented the minecart shuffle

Cleo: "I always want you to kill people, Scar. ...no not Etho."

And Etho leaves to shuffle snow like the Canadian cryptid he is

(how dare Ren interrupt Bdubs before he can give his current opinion on the kleenex box)

"Etho´s not one to lie" (are you sure about that? ^^)

...I look away for two seconds and did Mumbo just call himself a panda in chat. I was later told: a panda fiat! Which is a car, and Iskall is a Ferrari

Moonlanding with Gem! And some talk about bases and criticism. Gem: "I love making Etho mad," “Let Etho be mad,” What´s he gonna do, all he´s gonna do is go oh snappers ^^ "Scar, you are my Etho"

Short answer, I love this duo and they’re one of my favorite toxic yaois in this fandom however comma during DL they’re definitely unethical and I’ve already gone through all the the intricacies of how DL went badly

Long answer

I think they’re fascinating because they both tend to idolize the other while both using the other as an excuse to avoid their problems and dooming the both of them in the process. When they’re around each other they’re usually only Positive and any Negativity is very jarring (especially from Grian’s perspective, who sees B as a safe person). Introducing negativity there is like being tagged when you’re on base- it shouldn’t be allowed they don’t know what to do with it

Except it’s somewhat unbalanced

BigB keeps finding himself in situations where he’s the failsafe for Grian’s poor decisions. In 3L the Blue Sword Boys were all but planning a rescue mission for Grian midway through the war. In DL obviously Grian ran away to BigB when Scar was his soulmate, then again in LimL Grian ran to him when the other two Bad Boys died

In all three of these seasons, you can argue having this connection got BigB killed! In 3L BigB was still reaching out to Grian as Scar and Bdubs cornered him (then he turned on Grian but shhh), in DL Grian killed Ren, BigB’s soulmate, and in LimL Grian got the Nosey Neighbors into SEVERAL scenarios that cost them time

Again, they idolize each other but BigB has the understanding that Grian brings danger into his life. Yet he still ultimately views Him as a positive thing. In fact, I’d even argue that the added danger is what BigB idolizes him FOR

And that’s because BigB is scared of getting into dangerous scenarios. He usually bases alone, he develops an alter ego to run from the consequences of killing Cleo, he has to psyche himself up for Any type of physical attack on someone and when he does strike he’s screaming “AAAAAAA” the whole time!

Grian doesn’t need to do that, it comes naturally to him

Then on Grian’s side of things- he’s a coward too! Except he’s constantly masking it with his thrill seeking, trying to be the scariest thing in the room not just to feel strong but so that everyone else Leaves Him Alone. In fact, Grian ALSO tends to base alone! Or at least he tries to, until some group comes along and tosses him over their shoulder like a sack of potatoes. He makes secret alliances to save his own skin (yes, alliances plural, there were Several), and is usually the first to run when trouble comes his way

And all that running is Tiring.. it’s so, so tiring

So him idolizing BigB is him idolizing that “safety” he sees BigB having. Grian has never had a direct interaction with one of BigB’s risks, nor does he have any reason to see BigB as a threat in the same way other people are “threats.” He runs off to BigB over and over again because he sees BigB as someone that can save him, maybe even the Only person that can save him

Except again, what ends up happening is Grian gets BigB killed

Also couldn’t find a way to fit it in here but iirc BigB is the first person Grian actually built a grave for and I’m so normal about that

Some silly HermitCraft age regression headcanons I like!

Remember, these are entirely my opinion, you don’t have to agree! I might not even use them in my writing! It’s just for fun! :DD

- Keralis and Xisuma both have a very strong parental instinct! Though Keralis has the ability to tell when anybody is even slightly regressed. (He won’t tell a soul how he knows.)

- Ren has a very hard time not regressing when he sees another regressed person. It’s almost on sight.

- Ren chews through most chews he’s given and often feels very bad about it. Though his friends are very understanding and help him eventually feel better about it.

- Impulse and Etho are both caregivers and regressors!

- Grian is a complete cuddle bug while little. He has to be touching someone at all times, hand holding, hugs, cuddles, the whole shebang. He tries to deny it afterwards, chalking it up to avian instincts, but deep down he knows it’s true.

- Scar tries to have a stuffie with him at all times, he sees them like they’re alive and treats them as such.

- Bdubs can nap absolutely anywhere and everywhere. You could go to any hermit and they could give you a whole list of the strangest places they’ve found him sleeping. (Could be seen as age regression or not!)

- During the hippies days in s6, Impulse, Grian, and Ren would have little playdates, they’d play all kinds of board game or hide and seek. Sometimes Scar, False, and Doc would come over too! Or they’d all go to area 77, and have big movie nights!

- I have a feeling Decked Out 2 is a very overwhelming game, so Tango had a calm down/sensory room put in place in case anyone needed it! (Could also be seen for age regression or not!)

It was silly to be nervous. Impulse knew that, kept repeating it the whole journey over, and yet, standing in front of Bdubs’ monolith, he felt exceedingly nervous. The diorite building (Impulse had always wondered how Bdubs had managed to make diorite look good in a build- but then again it was Bdubs, he could make anything look good) towered above him, both intimidating in stature and welcoming in its lived-in state. Impulse took the small bag out of his inventory and just kind of held it in his hand. He still felt nervous, but it didn’t stop him from walking up the worn steps and knocking on the monolith’s front door.

It took a while for Bdubs to answer the door. Impulse heard him yell “coming!” from somewhere, and then the echoing sound of cursing and muttering at Bdubs made his way from somewhere in his base. Impulse knew that Bdubs had hugely expanded his base from just the monolith, but it seemed to take a comically long time for Bdubs to get to his front door.

“Etho, I swear if it’s- oh, Impulse! Hello, hello! How are you doing, baby?”

Bdubs gave him that signature wide grin, the one that made Impulse feel like he was the only important person in the world. He was dressed in a canvas jumpsuit and leather gloves, coated in what looked like red paint and sawdust.

“Hey Bdubs, sorry to bother you… didn’t realize you were busy,” Impulse replied, still nervous, maybe even more then before.

“Never a bother when it’s you, baby,” Bdubs drawled. “Probably needed a bit of a break anyway- I’ve been doing some of my patented perfect redstone- which of course you would know because you know redstone prowess when you see it.”

“Of course,” Impulse echoed, smiling.

“So, what brings you by?” Bdubs asked, unbuttoning the top part of his jumpsuit and shrugging it off, revealing a clean white tank top underneath. He leaned against his doorframe casually, the polar opposite of how Impulse felt.

“Well, I don’t know if you’ve looked at a calendar recently, I know you’ve been busy, but today is actually… well, it’s been one year since Double Life,” Impulse said.

“One year… ain’t that something,” Bdubs replied thoughtfully, eyes fixed on Impulse’s face. “Seems like only yesterday.” His face was unreadable, just that soft smile that he often seemed to have when Impulse talked to him.

Impulse let out a breath. “Yeah.. and, look, I know it’s kind of cheesy, and I keep doing it every time… but, here.” Impulse held out the bag. “For you.”

Bdubs shucked off his gloves and took the bag, brow furrowed. He gave Impulse a confused smile, then opened the bag. He pulled out the golden clock, which Impulse had polished to a perfect shine right before he’d flew over.

“Oh… Impulse…” Bdubs breathed, examining it from every angle. Impulse knew the clock like the back of his hand, had agonized over the details (much to Gem and Pearl’s chagrin, as he’d bugged them for their opinions constantly). The hand-painted day and night scenes- Bdubs’ Hermitcraft base in the sunlight, the mid-century modern house in the moonlight. The gold and copper vines decorating the outside, dotted with emerald specks for leaves. And the back, which simply read “For Bdubs- The Lover”.

“It’s… listen, I know I keep making them, and every time they mean something different, so I wanted to make a clock just to say… being soulmates with you was really awesome. You’re…” Impulse didn’t quite know how to finish the sentence, because he wasn’t quite sure that words could begin to even to describe his admiration for Bdubs, much less the whole soulmate thing.

Luckily, he didn’t have to. Bdubs stepped in and hugged him tight. Bdubs smelled like paint and wood and sweat in this world. There wasn’t that bitter taste of fear, the shaky elation of bloodlust. In this world, it wasn’t Impulse and Bdubs against the world. This was Hermitcraft, where death meant nothing but a good laugh at best and inconvenience at worst. But the games never quite left them, and Impulse held Bdubs tighter, hoping the other man understood it, all of it.

And hey, maybe he was a little too sentimental. But this was Bdubs, and Bdubs would always be special to Impulse. Maybe a little sentimentality, and a clock whose meaning kept changing, was what they both needed.

Session 7 Brainrot

I have so much to say about what happened this session so I'm gonna categorize this by person.

Gem: I find it incredibly interesting that she was the person given this task. A) Because she is the one the only Geminislay, B) Because she is like fresh meat to the watchers, C) Because of the infection she is already going through. The darkness spreading across her body probably made her more susceptible to the curse at first than anyone else on the server. She's such a strong player overall and the fact that she had a whole army behind her is terrifying.

Grian: The fact that he didn't get caught by the zombies says a lot about him. He's very good at running and hiding (especially from watcher stuff). I also want to point out WHERE he hid in the end of the session. The pesky bird went into a comfort nest. Definitely unintentional but definitely fun to think about.

Scott: Scott and Gem are, in my opinion, some of the smartest people on the server, so the fact that he didn't get caught doesn't surprise me and surprises me at the same time. Everytime Scott got boogey in a previous death game he did it in a way that was unsatisfactory for the watchers (Not actually killing and killing as soon as possible so the others weren't brewing up a pot of tasty negative emotions). He felt betrayed when Gem finally started to go after him (Even though she didn't go completely nuts until she turned red) and he has such a strong sense of loyalty to his allies. There's also some juxtaposition of him hiding underground while Grian hid in the air.

Martyn: Even though it was on a technicality, I think it's interesting that he was the only one not allowed to be infected. It's as if the watchers know that his chaos is secured and are trying to get the others in line with what they want to see. Also, he's just so damn good at being a red name, I feel like he's the only person to do it correctly in this series. I also feel like he was cheated out of his revenge plot on everyone else on the server because of the curse which might've been intentional on the Watcher's end.

Cleo: She is an icon and she IS the moment. I just love the irony of her being a zombie and not getting infected by the curse. I feel like her closeness to players like Martyn and Scott helped her in her ability to avoid the curse for so long. She's very smart with her allies this season.

Pearl: I'm terrified of how quick Pearl is to go insane when given the chance. Especially when it comes to her dogs. Tilly is always in her heart. This woman was YELLOW and decided on her own to bring up a warden when there already was one. And her gear is so well enchanted. She has learned a lot from previous seasons but she has also lost a bit of her sanity (Especially from double life). What a woman.

Joel: I don't know why he thought spawning 64 zombies so close to him and not on the others was a good idea, but man was it good comedy. Once he became a boogey he played really well though. He's so perfectly unhinged and after Lizzie dying he has very good reason to go insane on everyone else (The spine bit was cruel and unusual punishment). Underrated POV in my opinion.

Scar: Unhinged

Etho: Ok this part hinges on my theory that endermen are creatures created by the Watchers to interfere with the games. I fully believe that the watchers hated Etho being green so badly that they personally interfered to take him to yellow. The betrayal of your own tool killing you is a tasty snack for the watchers to enjoy. (Definitely not just Etho being washed up). Also the way he is so incredibly loyal to his team members even after being cursed. He's just a stand up guy.

Impulse: I just love the way him and Gem interact. He's like a proud dad whenever she does anything. That's it.

BDubs: I cackled when he got killed by a zombie again. Gem is hilarious for that. He did about as good as I expected under the curse. I do love all his interactions with Etho more than anything else. Those two are such unofficial soulmates (in a non-ship way).

Skizz: A true light on the server. All the better for the Watchers when he gets corrupted by the curse. He deserved to be mean after the heart got burned down.

Tango: This man's rage is so interesting. The way that it gets triggered most when people mess with his base is something I think could be explored (the ranch in double life, the ties base in limited life, and now the heart foundation).

Overall I have a lot of emotions about this last session

While Cleo likes and gets along with Etho, I don’t actually think she’s much of an ethogirl! The ethogirl lifestyle is about an etho-specific fascination, which she lacks! Cleo is normal about Etho! Yes, she did technically marry/divorce him, but she would have likely done the same for any other person that had come around at the right moment during Limited Life. That event was actually a direct consequence of Bdubs’ infatuation with Etho, not Cleo’s.

Iskall, on the other hand, is not normal about Etho. He acts differently around Etho. He acts, might I even say, like a fangirl! Which is the core of what it means to be an ethogirl. He lets Etho get away with things, gives him unnecessary charity to fuel etho-specific habits such as his shopping addiction, etc.

Therefore, Iskall is obviously the bigger Ethogirl here.

Yall have convinced me tbh

my personal top five in no particular order, and like, ya gotta understand im still new here (hermitcraft/life series) so my opinions are poised to change, but the current standings are:

Bdubs/Etho/Cleo, i'll be honest, i haven't written or read any clethubs, but i saw some art of them that made my brain shortcircuit. they are femdom, himbo, and twink. i just think that Etho should have two people who are stronger than he is on either side of him at all times, bonus points if you let Cleo be the tallest. Bdubs being super clingy, Etho reluctantly tagging along, and Cleo making sure they don't fucking die because yeah they are god damn idiots sometimes, but they're her idiots. and she loves them. and probably gives them noogies and headlocks them.

Cleo/Etho, their marriage in limlife is so much fucking fun, especially when read under an aro4allo lens. Etho whose been happily married for over a decade watching his friends enter relationships and realizing that he loves differently, he doesn't even love remotely close to how they love, love isn't even the right word. hes scared so he leaves, hes not doing it right and his wife must be upset about it, that must be why everythings crumbling. and Cleo, not giving two shits, because that's her husband and by god they're gonna make it work if he can realize that being absent is whats breaking up their marriage, not showing affection and intimacy differently.

Gem/Etho, as a canadian i am legally obligated to ship this, as a lesbian i love it when men have chaotic gremlin girlfriends who put them in their place. see that one episode of hermicraft wherein Gem beats his ass on repeat and he keeps coming back for more. its like, like theres an unspoken solidarity, 'hey we're the same even though we're not' and they stick with each other. predator/prey dynamic if you go with deer Gem and fox Etho, you also get it with sea monster Gem and fox Etho, except he's the prey and she has the biological advantage instead. also, when paired with the transfemme Etho headcanon we get some yuri which im always down for.

Grian/Etho, this one came to via an Ao3 commenter and i have seen two pieces of fanart for it and like, seven fics. but i still think the dynamic of bird and fox would be fun to work with in writing depending on the bird Grian is hybridized with, especially if Grian is the smaller one. also in limlife??? hello?? Etho, swearing loyalty and promising to be someones sword is not heterosexual behaviour. what they had in limlife, even if brief, had me shaking i'll be real. also, for their hermitcraft dynamic, it'd be hot if i threw Scar into the mix, for flavour.

Pearl/Etho/Tango, consensual workplace relationships make me absolutely insane, it could tear apart their business or bring it further together. they have the kind of dynamic that makes my head absolutely fucking empty, one of those 'i just think theyre neat' kind of ships. the culture clash between each of their species and their own personal tastes, Tango's a blaze and they mate for life, Pearl's a siren and they don't do much for romance, Etho's a fox and they come and go- but they make it happen in spite of that. im working on getting them a canonized Ao3 tag right now, they have such a fun dynamic. also, they fucked in that post office when no one was looking.

tbh these are all really closely tied, and i also have a soft spot for tangtho and the team ties poly. they're all really fun ships, i just really enjoy polyships to be real with ya'll. and the life series and hermitcraft are full of so many possible polyships that its just making me foam at the fucking mouth. sorry boat boys enjoyers, the vision has not yet engulfed me, but hey im a multishipper it might be yet to happen.

Is it too confusing to add a impulse x tango to my impulse x gem x Pearl to my Pearl x Cleo while I have Katherine x Shelby and scar x grian while martyn x Scott to my martyn x Ren to my Ren x bigb and my jimmy x Scott to my jimmy x fwhip x tango??

He could have a different boyfriend? Like skizz? Idk who do we ship impulse with?

And should gem get another girlfriend? Both her partners have partners. She could date Lizzie or Katherine? If Katherine dates gem, Shelby and Lizzie are also going to date.

If Lizzie gets a girlfriend then I’m going to get Joel a boyfriend maybe etho who is going to date bdubs? Maybe I put him on a qpr with sausage? If I’m already writing stuff for sausage he might as well date Scott too while I’m at it.

I kinda did a half-ass job explaining my views in the tags of that last post because, well, there's only so much you can concisely put into tags. So I'm just gonna make my own post.

I'm going to preface this by saying that you can do whatever you want forever and I'm not here to be the analysis police.

HOWEVER! I have Opinions and a right to voice them.

Grian is a very important, significant, and integral part of Scar's arc through the life series and vice versa. You cannot effectively discuss one without acknowledging the impact and involvement of the other. Even analyzing SL in a vacuum, Scar being forced to turn down Grian’s offer of friendship when both of them were desperate for alliances was a significant event for both Grian and Scar in the series. Desert Duo is important to Scar's win, and Scar's win is important to Desert Duo.

IT IS 100% GOOD AND CORRECT TO FACTOR THIS IN.

So I get it. I'm as feral a Desert Duo enjoyer as the next person. It's easy to get fixated on your favorite part, especially for the 90% of us who are some flavor of ADHD/Autistic. Hyperfixating is what we do best.

But so is overanalyzing.

SO THAT BEING SAID...

Scar is his own separate character away from Grian, and I think people centering Grian/Desert Duo when discussing Scar's win and journey through the Life Series to get there are doing a disservice to Scar's character and arc. Especially when people focus on Grian at the expense of Scar himself.

The loneliness of Magical Mountain and effectively losing Joel in LL was a stark contrast to 3L and forced Scar to learn self-sufficiency. The rivalry and subsequent tentative alliance with Team Rancher and the disruption to his alliance caused by BigB in DL forced Scar to rethink everything he thought he knew about how alliances worked. The family dynamic and watching Bdubs die in LimLife was the first time he’d ever had to truly grieve a perma-death, even if only for a short time before his own demise.

And Scar took all of this with him into SL. With the knowledge and experience he gained from everyone he'd crossed paths, hearts, and swords with, he made himself into the Scar we watched push that final success button.

He did that. He did that as all of his experience plus his own wit, tenacity, and resilience. He is far more than the sum of his parts, those parts being allies and enemies of every season.

And yes, one of those parts (and a very significant foundation piece at that) was Grian and that damn desert.

We are all shaped by our lived experiences and those we shared them with. But no person can be defined by a single thing. The cactus ring isn't the only thing that made Scar who he is. Grian isn't the only person who made Scar who he is. Magical Mountain, Joel, Jimmy, Tango, Cleo, Etho, Pearl, Bdubs, BigB, Gem... all of them contributed.

But more importantly, Scar made Scar who he is.

I think something ccScar says a lot can be applied to cScar here: life is 10% what happens to you and 90% how you react to it. And it's how Scar reacted to the people and events that he encountered that won him Secret Life.

TL;DR: It's OK and even important to bring Grian into the discussion of Scar's arc. But it's a great disservice to Scar's character to make Grian his ENTIRE arc.

PS: Yeah ok fine I'll say it now: I THINK THEY FINALLY LEFT THAT DESERT!

Ren considers some of his canine traits to be advantages. Entirely understandable. A superb sense of smell, sensitive hearing… who wouldn’t be appreciative? At least, as long as you’re not near Bdubs, sensitive hearing is great.

There are times when he finds himself appreciating them more, though.

Until you’d met Ren, it was only a myth in your eyes that dogs were extremely empathetic. It didn’t take long for your opinion to change.

He was the one you knew you could turn to for comfort and to have someone who’d just be there to sit and listen

It meant the world.

Sometimes, though, life throws things at you that are hard to handle, and it becomes a struggle to open up and be honest with others and yourself.

It’s times like that when Ren works his magic.

The moment he walks into your base he knows something is up You’re not bustling around, working or planning whatever new idea you’ve concocted. Instead, he can hear your quiet sniffles from a few rooms over.

Within a second he’s speeding in the direction of your voice, and the moment he finds you he’s sitting beside you, pulling you close so he can hug you

His grip is tight as he asks what’s wrong, the concern in his voice so painstakingly obvious that all your emotions begin to come flooding out.

He sits there and listens to you, tossing whatever assurance or compliment or opinion he feels you need. If it’s real bad he’ll pull out the jokes. If you don’t show a hint of a smile it’s innuendos from then on.

He doesn’t leave your side, even if you insist you’re feeling better, and if any other hermit offers to help instead it’ll become more persistentHe’s a bit possessive. Just a bit.

He can’t stand the idea of you being there alone, and though occasionally annoying, it’s more endearing than anything.

There have been incidents when he’s gotten a bit too worried, though…

‘I’m serious, Y/n! It’s alright! You can talk to me!’ ‘Ren, I’m not in the mood or state to have you over. I’m getting changed. Please, can you just lea–.’

Needless to say he believed you the next time you used that “excuse”.

Can I even begin to describe X finding out you’re not having a great time? The answer is I can.

Think concern, hugs, words of comfort, and lots of empathy and attention

Think of a sad puppy. That’s him. Without taking how jacked he is into consideration.

On one of his regular checkups making sure you’re okay he’s bound to have figured out something isn’t right

He won’t outright address it at first, instead giving you as much space and time as you need

If you don’t want to talk he won’t force you to

When you inevitably approach him, though, it’s all love and care for the next month or so.

Compliments, stories, hugs, little activities for the two of you to do together… anything to see you smile again

It breaks his heart seeing you upset ❤️

Mumbo

Man doesn’t quite know what to do.

What if he makes it worse? What if it doesn’t help?

Mumbo is either going to do something small and sweet or huge and sweet.

Either way, there’s a 50% chance of it going wrong.

But that’s okay! It’s part of the charm! You laughing at him almost burning his base down was entirely part of his plan!

There’s not much to write since it could be summarised in a single sentence: He has no clue what to do, but the man’s trying his best *insert TBH creature face here*

Scar

mmmmmmmm the way he hums while he builds, the way he talks to himself, the weird little noises he makes when he takes too much fall damage or is jumped asdakjdahdkajshdaskjdh adorbs :sob (Note: this part was written by Kat but I’m leaving it here)

When you’re upset he doesn’t really understand the concept of personal space Prepare to be swaddled in blankets, love, comfort foods… whatever he can think to give you

If there’s something he thinks (or knows) you like, you can be sure as hell he’ll do it. He’ll sing your favourite songs, put on your favourite movie, go shirtless if you’re into that… anything for you.

Will Scar sit and listen? Of course! What else is he there for?

Jellie, being the best girl she is, leaves Scar’s side to snuggle with you. No scratching today, just adorable love.

Speaking of adorable love; the look of pure love and admiration Scar gives you while you talk. Man knows how to validate your feelings for sure.

If you’re still not happy after a day of treatment by Scar, don’t fall asleep. It may be a good thing to rest, but know that he’s going to ask either Cub or Grian for advice, and that’ll end in disaster.

By the end of it, you’ll be all laughs and giggles (or groans of annoyance), and Scar will be able to sleep easy knowing he made your day the slightest bit better.
