That final line - Joe Liebgott x F!Reader
Tumblr media
Summary: Things have changed between Joe and Reader after bearing witness to the Concentration camp. They moved from being best friends to something more emotionally intimate. Now that the war in Europe is over will they cross the last line and become physically intimate?
Warnings: 18+ content (smut, p in v) angst-ish (mentions of war & concentration camp), comforting each other, tooth rotting fluff at end, she/her pronouns (no use of y/n or 1st person POV, but told from Liebgott's perspective sorta).
A/N: I have the biggest respect for the real life heroes of WWII (and all other wars, past & current), this work & all other works is based on the actor(s) and character(s) portrayed in the Band of Brothers series.
A/N pt 2: I love how this turned out. Basically this is just my own self-indulgence wish that I could have held and taken care of Liebgott after that scene of him crying in the truck. As always, let me know what you think! I tried a different writing perspective and I like it, hopefully you do too. Comments, likes, and reblogs make me happy and feel validated!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Joe Liebgott would forever be a different man. Easy Company had just liberated Kaufering IV but that included locking the poor souls back up for the medics to be able to try and get them back from the brink of death. The whole thing had left Joe feeling broken and full of pure rage and despair he didn't know how to get rid of it. So he grabbed a bottle of wine and wondered till he found a tree isolated enough he wouldn't easily be found. He just needed space.
He'd been alone for hours, judging by how low the sun was hanging, bottle long since empty, and eyes sore and dry from tears when he heard a twig snap. Looking around the tree, his heart both swelled and shattered at the sight of the person walking towards him. She was his best friend, been that way since Toccoa and all through the war thus far. The only person that could calm him down when his hot-headedness got the better of him and always had his back in every combat situation. He never had to worry when she was around. She was also the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen and had long since accepted that his heart would always speed up a little when she was in eyesight. While his heart had the usual reaction at seeing her, he couldn't help but feel broken anew at the sadness on her face and emptiness in her eyes. He wasn't the only one tore up from their recent experience.
"I've been looking for you everywhere." She speaks barely above a whisper as she drops down next to him, already leaning against his arm.
"I'm sorry, I just had to get away for a while. I should have found you and brought you with me." He leans over to drop a kiss on the top of her head.
There's a beat of silence and then she speaks again, still in a low whisper, "Do you think they'll make it?"
The words are a dagger to his already bruised and bleeding heart. He gives a small sniff, trying to hold back the fresh tears.
"I don't know." He feels her turn her body towards him and knows she's taking in his appearance detail by detail.
"You can let it out, Joe. I know this is tearing you up. Please don't hold it in and let it destroy you." One hand grasps his while the other gently takes his chin and turns his head so their eyes meet. He tries to push the emotions back down and come up with something to say, but he loses all resolve when her hand moves to cup his cheek and wipe away a stray tear that falls out.
Joe is suddenly wrapping his arms around her, pressing his face in the crook of her neck and letting it all out. He feels her shift them so he's laying mostly on her, her back against the tree and arms tightly wrapped around him. One hand is gripping the back of his jacket tightly, holding him to her, the other is gently stroking his head, and when he feels the side of his face getting wet he knows she's crying too.
They stay like that for hours, until the sun is nearly gone and all tears have been let out. Even after the tears, they don't move, finding too much comfort in holding each other. The only thing that gets them finally moving is their stomachs growling. Joe gets up first, holding his hand out to help her up and starts walking them back to find some food. He looks down briefly when he feels her intertwine their fingers and give his hand a squeeze. The first smile he's had in days makes it way across his face and he squeezes her hand back.
As the days dragged on ahead, their bond grew even tighter. There was a new level of safety and vulnerability that blossomed. Hands would brush more often, hugs turned tighter and longer, if they were able to they'd often be found napping together tangled limbs and all. It was as natural as breathing to seek the other out and before Joe knew it, he was hit with the realization that he was head-over-heels in love with his best friend.
The popping of yet another champagne bottle drags Joe from his mulling and takes in the sight around him with a smile. They are in the Eagles Nest, the war in Europe is over and everyone is finally able to relax and celebrate. He's sitting by Webster and Perco, watching the other's talk and laugh, already more than a little drunk. His smile widens when he catches her eye, sitting next to Malarkey and they salute each other from across the room.
"You ever gonna make a move, Lieb?" Perco's question lands like a bomb right in his stomach.
"What the hell are you talking about?" He looks at the man next to him like he's crazy, but inside he's frantic. Is it that obvious?
"Oh come on, Liebgott. The two of you have been attached at the hip the whole war, even back at training. We've all noticed the stolen looks between you. The wars over, just go for it." Webster gives him a shove, pointedly ignoring the glare Joe shoots at him.
"I gotta take a leak." Joe abruptly stands and leaves before either of them can continue their pestering. They're right, he knows they're right. Since accepting his feelings, the only thing that's been holding him back has been the on-going war. Sure there's still Japan to figure out but right now, their immediate part is over and he doesn't have to worry about dying and leaving her or worse losing her any second to a bullet or bomb.
Not actually needing the bathroom, he finds himself wondering the halls of the Eagles Nest and randomly picking a room to go into. It's spacious with a sitting area, a large comfortable bed sitting against the back wall, a door leading to an adjoining bathroom next to it and doors to the right leading to a balcony. He heads to the balcony, throwing the doors open and leans against the railing taking in the mountains and open valley. It's so quiet and peaceful, he doesn't know how to reconcile it with the horrors the owner and occupants have done to the people of this land.
"Why am I always having to search for you?" A soft, happy voice speaks behind him. Joe turns around and feels his breathe catch in his throat at how beautiful and easy going she looks, leaning around the doorframe to the balcony. When he didn't respond, she stands up a little straighter. "What? Is there something on my face?"
Joe shakes his head and moves to stand in-front of her, raising his hand to trail a finger down her cheek. "You're beautiful."
"How drunk are you?" Her voice is playful, but Joe knew his words were having an effect on her based on the blush she now had.
"Not even tipsy. But drunk or sober, you're still beautiful." His hand cups her cheek, tilts her head up a little to fully meet his eyes and he decides to cross that final line. "I love you. I love you fully and completely; body, mind, and soul. I need you, more than I need to breathe. If you don't feel the same, that's fine. I will lock my heart away to keep you in my life however you wish to be. But the war here is done and I'm out of reasons to not tell you how I feel. Tell me you don't feel the same and I'll respect that, but if you feel even close to what I feel please let me know."
Joe see's tears form in her eyes and for a heartbreaking second he's sure she's going to tell him 'no' and walk away. Then he feels her hands on his face and holds his breathe as she rises on her toes, stopping when her lips are barely brushing his.
"I love you, Joe. I'm yours; body, mind and soul." And then her lips are pressing against his and Joe thinks he's died and gone to heaven.
Their kiss is passionate and slow, taking full advantage that they don't have to rush and can take their time exploring. Joe starts nudging her backwards, back into the main room and towards the bed. A line of clothes marks their path as they help each other be rid of them, kissing freshly exposed shoulders and necks as they go. Soon enough they've managed to be rid of everything and tumble onto the bed in a heap.
Joe leans back just enough to take in the site of her underneath him. Face flushed, lips swollen and glossy from kissing, hair spread out like a halo, chest rising and falling hard as she tries to catch her breathe. He leans his head down pressing kisses to her neck, trailing down her collarbone, around the swell of her breast and ending at her nipple. He takes his time delivering languid licks and sucks, making her skin pucker and rise. Not wanting to leave the other one out of the fun, his hand cups, massages and pinches a little on the flesh there, his other hand hasn't stopped caressing any part of her skin he can reach.
If he has any doubts of how he's making her feel, the gasps and moans falling from her lips dispel them quickly. Soon enough her hands are in his hair and scratching down his back as she wraps her legs around his waist pulling him closer. Joe stops his minstrations on her breast with a groan when his erection is pressed right against her wet core and he can't help but roll his hips into her again. This time they both moan.
"Joe, please. I need you." Her voice is ragged and the lustful look in her eyes almost has him finishing right then. He shifts to the side a little, giving him room to run his hand down her side and cup her core. She's soaking and his brain short circuits a little.
His fingers make quick work of making sure she is coated properly, detouring to her clit to rub until she starts to whimper and pull at him. As he meets her eyes, he raises his fingers to his lips and sucks her taste off of them.
"Goddamn, baby. Next time I'm spending hours down there." He rushes out as he positions himself at her entrance. "But if I don't have you soon, I might die." He looks at her for confirmation that she's ready and when she nods, he starts pushing in slowly.
They groan together at the feel of him sliding into place like a puzzle piece coming home. Once he's bottomed out, he drops down to his elbows, putting more of himself on top of her and rests his forehead against hers. Her thighs tighten around him as she turns her head to kiss him.
"Move. Please." She bites his bottom lip at the same time she scratches his back again.
"Yes ma'am." He presses his lips firmly to her, swallowing the moan she lets out as he pulls out and quickly snaps back in. He finds a steady rhythm, angling his hips just right so he's brushing that sweet spot within her. Her back bows, pressing her chest further into his and exposes her neck to his lips. He doesn't waste any time placing a hard bite where it'll be hard to hide the mark already forming. This spurs something in her and soon her hands are in his hair, tugging his head to the side as she returns the favor.
Joe can tell she starts to get close to her release, as her walls start fluttering around him and her moans start becoming more frequent. He raises himself up, gripping the headboard with one hand and dropping his other hand down to rub her clit.
"I know you're close baby. Look at me as you let go." His voice is deep and commanding. Her eyes immediately lock onto his and his movements pick up speed. A few more hard thrusts and a pinch on her clit and she's moaning his name and clamping down around him. The feeling of her combined with his name falling from her lips like a prayer has him falling right behind her.
As they come down from their highs, they exchange slow kisses and 'I love you's'.
Bonus scene:
Not wanting to waste a beautiful day, the guys had decided to have an impromptu baseball game. Joe stood in his spot, waiting to bat next, sending a smile and wave to the stands where his girl was watching and cheering. They were getting ready for the next play when Winters came strolling across the field. They all crowded around him, fully expecting to hear their deployment orders for fighting Japan. Instead he was giving them the best news they'd heard since VE day. Japan had surrendered. The war, all of it, was finally over.
All the guys started cheering, exchanging hugs and pats on the backs. Joe see's her coming towards them at an easy jog, a curious look on her face. He gives her the biggest smile and runs right up to her, lifting her in his arms and spins her around.
"Japan surrendered. It's over. We're going home." Her smile matches his as she fully takes in his words and hugs him back. Just as quick as it started, Joe stops spinning her and sets her down on her feet, then he's down on one knee, holding her hands.
"Marry me. Come back home with me. Or wherever you wanna live. I don't care. Just marry me, please." Everything dulls around the edges as he holds his breathe, waiting for her response.
"Yes, Joe!" She smiles bright enough to blind the sun and then starts laughing when he jumps back up and starts spinning her around again. The only sound is the cheering of their friends and their hearts beating in sync.

don’t you worry.
authors note: you lot better start writing bella fanfics!! i love this precious soul. also i have seen a couple posts and stuff saying bella doesn’t mind what pronouns are used to address her. IF IM WRONG OR WHATEVA pls tell me !!
bella ramsey x f!reader (she/her pronouns for both)
warnings: some swear words, bella being upset cus of some stupid haters, crying.
summary: when you come home after a long day of filming, you see your precious sitting on the bed seeming a little upset.
the key jingled in the door, you huffed as you put it in the wrong way. it had been a very long day for you, you had to reshoot a scene about a hundred times. you expected it, but the scene was difficult and took all concentration. you closed your eyes for a second, letting out a deep sigh, trying again. successfully, you did it. pulling down the handle you used your shoulder to actually push it open, you walked in putting down your flower inspired tote bag and kicking your shoes off.
you stretched your arms above your head, taking in the lovely scent of the apartment you and your girlfriend lived in, it smelt gorgeous, you had an essential oil dispenser near the front door. you forward to the living room, it was empty. t’was quite confusing for you, usually when you walk in, you see bella curled up on the sofa, reading a book which would actually be on the floor due to her falling asleep and it falling out her hands.
“bella?” you spoke, you did a look around the apartment not finding her anywhere, so you checked the most understandable place. the bedroom. you walked in, expecting her to be asleep, maybe under the covers watching tiktoks. however, it was the complete opposite.
she sat there, facing the wall, her head in her hands as her phone lit up her face. “baby..?” you rushed over too her, she let out a painful sob. you didn’t think twice about bringing her face to your chest and wrapping your arms around her.
bella loved when you did this, you were taller then her so she enjoyed the comfort of having you towering over her.
“relax darlin, just breathe, look at me” she pulled her head back, her red glossy eyes looked back into yours. your hands moved to her face, wiping the tears that had fell down her cheeks. “what happened?” you asked her softly, she didn’t say anything apart from handing you her phone, it was the instagram post she recently uploaded of her and pedro on set. she scrolled down, and that’s when you saw the problem.
‘man why you even bothering? you look nothing like ellie. fuck off outta here”
‘your going to ruin the last of us’
‘ew why do you look like that’
‘you don’t deserve y/n. look at her compared to you. LMAO’
the list of hateful comments went on, some calling her slurs, some insulting her appearance. it hurt you, to know some of your fans were involved with the comments, it hurt you to know your girlfriend was sat her doubting herself, it hurt you to know she was crying and in pain. “do you think i’m going to ruin it all? are you gonna leave m-” you cut her off before she could even finish it.
“bella, no. id never do that to you” you said softly, holding her cheek. she looked at you, biting down on her lip. “baby, these people don’t know you, they don’t know how wonderful of an actor you are. i’ve seen you on set, jesus bella. how can you believe this” you let out a small laugh “the way you portray emotions is so beautiful, your acting is amazing. i love watching it, hell, even i take tips from you angel. and you are beautiful bella, trust me. i love you..more then what you know” you spoke, from the heart.
she smiled “there we go!” you exclaimed, that caused her to smile even more. you looked at with a smile “i mean every word” she took your hand into heres “i know y/n. thank you, i love you” she says looking into your eyes, leaning in you pressed a small kiss to her lips.
“now” you jumped up, still holding her hands “it’s time for bed” she nodded “thank lord, i’m so tired”
in the end, she found herself pressed up against you. her back to your chest. your arm was wrapped around her waist and the other placed under her head. “sleep well angel, i love you” you pressed a kiss to her temple “you too, i love you so much more”

What a season finale?!!!
It was a great episode, probably one of the best of the season for me but damn, i hate cliffhangers! Especially when there's a strike going on and you have no idea when the next season will air!
But it is what is… The only thing we can do now is pray for the strike to be over as soon as possible.
AMPTP, please pay your writers and actors!
*
So lets talk about Spock and Chapel (and a little bit about Pike&Batel)
!SPOILER WARNING!
*
The episode starts with Batel and Chapel helping the colonists. We learn that Chapel left the Enterprise early to start her Fellowship with Dr. Korby and Cayuga is basically her ride.
Can i just say that i love how SNW portrays their female characters? Batel and Chapel are 2 women who are really good at their jobs, love helping people, ambitious, strong, beautiful and charming!
The episode made a clear parallel between 2 relationships: Spock&Chapel and Pike&Batel.
At the beginning of the episode Batel and Chapel’s fates were unknown, both Spock and Pike were worried about losing the women that they love, but refused to give up hope and they were both ready to do whatever it takes to save them.
Both couples reunite at some point in the episode. Pike&Batel’s hug is lovely and sweet. Spock&Chapel holding each other’s hands in space is a beautiful and almost poetic moment. That scene was designed to look visually stunning and it did!
*
If we quickly remember the status of both relationships:
Batel had a bumpy relationship with Pike at first, she even walked out on him bcoz just like Chapel, Pike had issues maintaining a serious relationship. But unlike Spock&Chapel, Pike&Batel fixed their problems bcoz Pike noticed his errors, they talked, they understood each other and made up!
Spock and Chapel still haven’t done that and we have to wait for season 3 to see them properly communicate again. But there’s still HOPE for them.
*
“Hope” is one of the main themes of the episode. We have seen different characters talk about “hope” and use it as a motivation to keep fighting.
Una to Spock:
“I would never tell you not to hope.”
Pike to La’an:
“Sometimes... hope is a choice.”
Despite every single fact pointing to Christine’s death, Spock chooses not to lose hope.
“and Nurse Chapel, who I HOPE made it to the surface as well.”
“I have not given in to grief yet. Logic dictates we do not know Chapel's or Batel's fate. And until we do, the best chance we have to save them is if Enterprise takes out the Gorn's interference field.”
Hope is the thing that keeps him going. And i think, one of the reasons why he insisted he should be the one doing the space mission is bcoz he really believed that it might help save Christine’s life (and others').
*
The zero gravity Gorn fight was amazing. Spock and Chapel defeating the Gorn together was so satisfying to me!
After that, they move towards each other and have an “almost” space hug. Beautiful! And then they slowly fly up together. The filming of the whole scene is breathtaking. Feels like a space dance in EV suits. As a big piece of Cayuga falls down, they reach for each other’s hands at the same time and hold so tight! Aww. The music, the scene… You get the sense that there’s HOPE. Against Gorn but also for Spock and Chapel too.
They energize still holding hands. Chapel seems pretty shook and Spock intensely watches her. He must be feeling so many things at once in that moment.
The way Spock loves Chapel is too pure.  He would do anything for her. ANYTHING. Vulcan emotions are stronger than human emotions. That’s why they suppress them. And what happens when they choose not to suppress them? Take a look at Spock! Ethan Peck has been doing an amazing job portraying a half Vulcan-half Human in love. But perhaps his feelings for Chapel can not even be described with the word love.
I have no words for what I feel.
Bcoz it’s more.
*
Anyway, before they go Spock stops her. He wants to apologize but she doesn't let him. She tells him that they'll have time later. She smiles at him, eyes shining, holding his arm… Spock recognizes that look and that smile. Its Christine. His Christine. And he smiles back. There’s HOPE.
*
Look guys, I don’t know if they’ll break up or decide to try again. All i know is, Spock and Chapel love each other. Despite their differences, despite Boimler’s “you’re doomed” BS, despite Chapel’s struggle with relationships&deep trauma, despite Spock’s struggle with human emotions… They LOVE each other. Feelings are there and not going anywhere.
Star Trek loves “on again - off again” relationships. So i predict Spapel be the new on/off relationship that will last for as long as the show goes on.

Based on the three words you selected, I find that his social media and actions already exhibit this pretty consistently.
His loyalty to spn brand by sticking with CE cons, celebrating dean’s bday and his promotion of TW. He also comments and consistently likes his friends posts. He also showcases his loyalty to his family.
He posted a lot (along with his wife) when he directed for his aspiring image and promoted his albums.
He also remains mysterious because he rarely is seen outside of cons or work trips nor does he post personal or impromptu content. Everything seems planned so fans fill in the gaps in their own minds.
I am not sure what you would see him doing differently to lean into those traits and since he is portraying those words consistently, why do you think he has w branding problem?
I don’t get it. Help me understand.
I'll answer with a question: What story is Jensen telling? Who is he and why should we care? Is his SM "stories" connecting with you?
I used those 3 descriptive words because it's already what the Ackles team have attempted to cultivate. You mentioned his consistency on social media, his image has always been curated to the point that it actually feels inauthentic because it doesn't completely match with his actions. An authentic person follows through on their commitments and base their actions on their aforementioned beliefs. Did either Jensen or Misha followed through with their expressed commitment to a mental health crisis line during the YANA campaign?
Inconsistency can imply insincerity. Producers need to believe that a production is in safe hands and are unlikely to hire actor who are inconsistent in their commitments.
So it comes down to Jensen's inconsistent public persona. He ran cold and hot when it comes to interacting with Misha; he goes from never hanging with Misha outside of work while insulting him and his character, to suddenly being cutisie with Misha i.e. jumping on his back, putting his head on Misha’s shoulder - all in front of fans or leading up to the YANA campaign. In contrast, Jared’s interactions with Misha have been consistent and are always shown as buddyish, even on the show.  Jared doesn’t go out of his way to act cutsie with Misha like setting his head on his shoulder, and Misha doesn’t bait his fans into thinking there is something intimate between he and Jared.
Then there's Jensen's complacency, which hampers his consistency. I’m sure you’ve heard of “acting is reacting”, which is another way of saying you’re only as good as your scene partner. This saying gets mocked in the acting community because it’s a trap actors fall into by adjusting their truthful inner life to their assumptions about the text.  This has been Jensen's acting strength and weakness. Good acting is adjusting the text to your authentic emotion, which is the result of the other person.   Jensen is in what my acting coach calls “the truthful contact”, it’s where actors are taught the first stage of authentic acting.  The next stage is “crafting”, meaning you’re working solo without a screen partner and have to effectively get across justifications and point of views.  Jensen acting is primarily “the truthful contact” and it’s became his comfort zone. While it made him a multimillionaire by his mid 30s, it also made him complacent and dependent on the strength of his screen partner. Without the right partner, his "truthful contact" is gone and so is the connection.
“It’s chemistry and vibration that truly empowers connectivity.” – Tim Girvin.
Danneel is a weak screen partner for Jensen, and he doesn't appear to connect with her or to most of his colleagues, and that translate to his lack of connection in his brand, which translate to lack of a brand. It's why his chemistry and connection with Jared was so important for raising his profile.
This the typical call-types that casting directors get for adult males between the age of 28 and 45:
leading man
the nice guy
that creepy weird guy
jock
blue-collar worker
cop/career military
executive
lawyer/politician
teacher/professor
dad
computer genius
salesman
slacker
doctor/nurse
jokester
player
slimy con man
criminal/thug/heavy
artist/poet/musician
Actor's band can be hybrids of up to 3 types. Jared is #1, #6, and #10. I suggested that a third of Jensen's brand lean into #19, the poet/musician type to give him an air of mystery instead of unpredictability. Notice that there isn't a call-type for jerk-with-heart-of-gold, because that's usually reserved for much younger actors so Jensen needs to leave the Dean Winchester persona behind.

An Honest Review of Mean Girls (2024)
I have seen so many negative reviews of this movie, and I have to say one thing to you guys: you obviously weren’t the target audience if you hated this movie.
First, let me break down some of their complaints, and then I’ll give you the rundown of my personal opinion.
Common Complaint Number One: Renée Rapp’s acting was bad.
Do I need to explain to you why you’re stupid, or are you going to see yourself out the door? If her acting was bad, I’m the next Queen of England. Not only did she bring life to a different version of Regina George, she clearly put some effort into portraying that character. She was probably the second best actor in this movie.
Common Complaint Number Two: Angourie Rice was miscast as Cady Heron; Her singing is bad, her acting is flat, ect.
If I was someone who had just moved to America from another country, I would be reserved too. I would show my emotions less, and I would probably try and do things to fit in with other people I wouldn’t normally do. While I admit her performance can’t match up to Lindsay’s, I also say: can YOU act that well? No. These are professionals. If you think that you can act better, then I’d better see you when they make a musical version of Mean Girls 2. And your complaints with the singing are unfair. She’s Australian- do you know how hard it is to sing with an accent? Oh, well she could just keep the accent when singing- DO YOU KNOW HOW DIFFERENT AN AUSTRALIAN ACCENT IS FROM A KENYAN ONE? The door is to your right.
Common Complaint Number Three: The Fashion is bad. (WARNING: Long segment)
This is… wow. I’m disappointed. Honestly, I am. While some of the choices are questionable, do you know how much effort was put into these outfit designs? The first time we see Regina, for example, we see her in all black. Black can represent power, but it can also represent hatred, as another thing; a reference to Cady being told she should hate Regina by her friends. Later on, at the end of the movie, she wears black, all the way up until she gets hit by a bus (which, contrary to what some people say, was not left out of the movie). To show her hatred for Cady. While the outfits may not be perfect, they are quite fitting. To introduce Cady in school, she wears blue- colors associated with sadness, but also nerves. Throughout the movie, Cady is nervous- first to be at school, then to lose her friends, and then to topple Regina, take her place, and be in power. Just because the fashion isn’t perfect and doesn’t make the characters look like models doesn’t mean the acting is bad. (Also, Regina would never use ELF? I am friends with someone who is essentially Regina George but less mean and not as rich, but still pretty up there, and I assure you, she uses ELF)
Complaint Number Four: ALL OF THE SINGING IS AWFUL
Are you deaf? Actually, no. That’s insulting to the deaf people. If you seriously think that all of the songs are awful, you need to never listen to music ever again because you are a disgrace to this society. I will admit, not all of the songs were bangers, but I still have What-Ifs stuck in my head (I agree with one thing, Stupid With Love, both the movie and musical versions, can go with Regina by that bus through)
Complaint Number Five: It’s too much like the original movie but not close enough to the original movie
This is the most common thing I see. People stating that it’s ’trying too hard to be the original movie’ but that it ‘left out key details in the movie that would make it more like the original movie’. Seriously, SHUT UP. Nobody wants to hear you being all ambivalent about your fake reason for hating the movie because someone else told you it’s bad.
Common Complaint Number Six: The acting is bad.
youtube
Look me in the eyes and tell me the actors did not pour their heart and soul into this film. You can’t. There’s the door. Go outside. Touch grass.
Common Complaint Number Seven: It wasn’t marketed as a musical!!!
youtube
youtube
Tumblr media
Do you… not see the music note? Okay, you’re blind. Got it 👍 But if you’re so blind, then almost none of the previous complaints are valid because you couldn’t see the movie.
But in all honesty, this one just legitimately pisses me off, because it just means that people can’t be bothered to pay attention to something that is made obvious to them. Sure, the first trailer didn’t include singing, but it was to get you hooked on the idea, not to advertise the movie. Wake up sheeple.
MY PERSONAL THOUGHTS:
I have my own flurry of complaints. Well, no I don’t. Just two or three. 1. Cady’s entire personality was liking Aaron. I’m sorry, I can’t like a main character who is, in effect, like half the people who dislike this movie, a sheep. And I will admit, there were a FEW times the emotion shown by Cady wasn’t as perfect as it could have been. But it’s not a movie killer. 2. I don’t think the movie addresses very well that Janis was also mean. The ‘At least me and Regina KNOW we’re mean’ gave Janis’s treatment of Cady more effect; made Cady come off less as a villain and more as a victim, whereas the new one completely glosses over it and makes it seem like Janis was the one in the right all along. And three, Cady should have kissed Regina at the beginning and none of this would have happened. If you’re going to give us gay Janis, GIVE US OUR CADINA DAMMNIT.
Otherwise, this movie was amazing! I am a lesbian tho so maybe that’s not objective :P
FINAL RATING: 9/10

Note
Ok you've written various versions of thIs so I just have to ask... What do you think is Simon and Ambar sexual experience before each other?
Oof, that's a hard question.
If we consider which countries they're both from and the average age in which people usually lose their virginities in those countries, then both of them shouldn't have been virgins by the start of the series (usually those first experiences are around 15 or 16)
BUT we have to consider their personalities too and their backgrounds, because they might not be the average teen.
If we only considered Season 3, then we'd have to say that they were not virgins because there's no fucking way with the sexual tension oozing out of them both. HOWEVER, I feel like a lot of the actors was slipping into the characters during that season, both of them 20-something adults with obvious previous sexual experience, so I feel like judging on Season 3 events would be an statistical mistake.
So, we'd have to judge based on Season 1 and Season 2 alone. In season 1, Ámbar has her 17th birthday, and it is mentioned many times, I believe, that she and Matteo had been dating for a long while previous to the start of the series, so, basing ourselves on that and, like I said, the average age in Argentina, we'd have to assume that Ámbar and Matteo had sex at some point (or, if not p-in-v sex, they at least did a lot of the other stuff that also count as sex)
The only thing that makes me question it is that, you know, Ámbar and Matteo didn't have the closest relationship from what we see in Season 1? Matteo seemed very dismissive of Ámbar and Ámbar looked like she was with him because he was cool and on the same level as her so they made sense as a couple and she loved the idea of them together more than Matteo himself. However, as many of you might know, you don't exactly need to have deeper feelings for someone to have sex with them 😂 And they were hormonal teenagers, so all they really needed was some mutual attraction and the opportunity to be alone (which I assume both of them would have plenty of considering they're portrayed as rich kids who their parents usually leave alone as long as they do well in school and stuff.) Now, would Ámbar want to be that vulnerable with Matteo? You know, the whole letting someone else see you naked and/or literally inside you. I would have to say no, she wouldn't. BUT, again, maybe she just didn't see it that way and it was just sex, just an activity that regular teenagers do with their partners, and I know that the Ámbar back then would want to 'be cool' and look cool in front of her peers, so she would definitely want to have sexual experience because, otherwise, she could look lame, especially if she'd been dating her boyfriend for a long time. It would be 'expected' of them to have sex, and Ámbar would want to meet those expectations.
So, going for that logic, I assume Ámbar did have sexual experience prior to the series. Definitely not an emotionally-based one though.
Now, let's go for Simón.
Simón is older than most characters in the show when it starts (we know because he already finished high school.) Now, it is never stated how old exactly he is (I've seen some magazines give him some age or another but, as I've been informed, those were not official), but we can assume he was either just turned 18 (Like, he turned 18 right before the start of the show) or he turned 19 at some point of season 1 that they didn't show.
If we based ourselves on the average age at which teenagers lose their virginity, and especially MALES, then there's no freaking way he would still be a virgen unless he was considered ugly or incredibly unpopular due to his personality, but I think we can agree he's neither of those things.
HOWEVER, the opposite thing to Ámbar happens here in which I think Simón would only do sexual things with someone he had an emotional connection with. He's shown as this very sensitive, golden retriever guy from the very start of the show, so while I know that that can totally co-exist with a rowdy, extensive sexual history in real life, I just can not believe that it would be the case for him. I just can't picture it.
So it all would come down to, Did Simón have a long-term girlfriend before the show? I gotta say it seems unlikely, because the only ex we're shown is Daniela, which, I believe, is mentioned they only had one summer together?? Or a summer thing that wasn't really a relationship?? You'll have to excuse me if I don't remember that right, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.
I don't think Simón would go all the way with a girl he'd only been seeing for the summer. Sure, it could look 'romantic' in his head, but no way. I think it would seem too fast for him, and he also wouldn't want to get too deeply invested in a relationship that he knew was not going to last beyond the summer.
In addiction to this, we're also led to believe that Simón has been in love with Luna for a looong time and he just hadn't realized it yet. (Whether that's true or if it was everyone's insistence that made him start looking at his feeling for Luna that way, is up to you to decide.) If that's true, maybe that would make it a little difficult for him to have girlfriends ?? Like, maybe that's why he only had short flings during the summer with girls because deep down his heart already belonged to another ???? I have no idea honestly. I do imagine he had crushes and, like I said, short relationships with girls throughout his life (because he's too much of a romantic and too cute for him to NOT have had dates during school and stuff) but I don't think he ever dated one for like a year or something, unless it was like from 14 to 15, or from 15 to 16, I guess that could be possible, and then he had his fling with Daniela in the summer of his 17 year and that would be all.
So. Considering all this. Did Simón have sexual experience before the show? ....A little, maybe. Like I said, p-in-v sex is not the only way to have sex with someone else. Simón could have, I don't know, done some dry-humping with a girlfriend before?? Again, because they're hormonal teenagers and the age at which MALES, specifically, do those things is usually even lower than girls. I think some petting over the clothes during a makeout session is more likely. At much he touched a boob. And at much he received a hand job if he happened to have an experienced older girlfriend, but I think that's it.
Maybe I'm not being realistic enough and I'm picturing him too innocently. (I've received comments in Wattpad from south american readers who are firm believers both Simón and Ámbar had sex before the show because there's no way they would've have at their age.) You'll have to excuse me if you believe that's the case, but I just can't see Simón having sex with someone before the show. Like, with the way his character is portrayed, I just can't see it. And, you know, I'm a 26-year-old girl with a lot of outside knowledge but personally I didn't even kiss anyone during my teenage years, so it's easy for me to imagine others also not doing it 😂 I think the answer to this question you asked me, anon, can differ a lot depending on the personal experience of the person receiving it.
IN SUMMARY. What do I think Simón and Ámbar's sexual experience was before each other? For Ámbar, I think she had sex before. Maybe not all the way but most probably yes. For Simón, I think he was a virgin.
(Again, all of this is not taking season 3 into account because if we did, both of them would obviously not be virgins anymore.)
I don't know what everyone else thinks. Do you agree with me or do you have your reservations? To be clear, it's not like I'm 100% sure of this assessment either. I like to play with all possibilities of this in my fics and I'm not married with an specific headcanon. The analysis I made in this post is only me using logic and trying to be as unbiased as possible, but I'm a human being and I can totally fail.
Thank you for your question, anon. I hope you have a good day 🌷

Chainsaw Man Starter Rope Cast Interview: Tomori Kusunoki
How did you feel when you got the role?
Actually, I read Chainsaw Man at the recommendation of a friend, and when I read it he said, "If it's made into an anime, I want you to play Makima." Thinking back on it, that was really a ridiculous request (lol). As I read more and more, I became more and more immersed in the character, and even though it is a very difficult character, my desire to play Makima became stronger. And when it happened, I cried with joy. It felt like all my hard work had paid off.
What would you say are Makima's charms?
Her mysteriousness and her appearance are appealing, but I personally think Makima has really good "kindness timing." It's like she can tell Denji the exact words he wants to hear when he wants to hear them. She can see through everything completely, but she also has something mysterious about her that's beyond your reach. She's a character that I'm happy to see, but also a character whose appearance makes me nervous to see what's coming next.
How did you approach playing Makima, and what feelings did you tap into?
Makima doesn't get emotional or agitated, so I wanted to give off the impression, "I don't know what she's thinking, but she seems kind." All the actors in this work use a natural acting style. It's not to the level of narration, but Makima gives off a detached feeling; she suppresses the inflection of her speech. At the same time, I wanted to convey a vague and elusive feeling, like "Oh, was she being nice just now?" I often play young children and I had never played a role like Makima before, so at first I was trying to sound more mature. Director Nakayama and the staff told me that "My performance from my first audition is ideal," and "It's ok not to focus on sounding older," so I started acting more naturally.
How is recording going so far?
I believe I was able to achieve the Makima I was aiming for! My friend wanted me to play Makima, and I had read the original work thinking, "How would I say this line?" so I had a clear idea of the nuances I wanted to portray from the start. I was able to approach that, and even though there were gaps, I was able to try things out many times, so I think I created a Makima I was satisfied with.
What should we pay particular attention to in the early part of the story?
Makima's appearance in the first episode is striking, but my personal favorite is the scene where she tells Denji to say "aaah" at the rest stop. The udon noodles were moving so smoothly (laughs), I was shocked and thought, "This is how it is in anime!" I'd like for you to compare these types of small details to the original work. It's really amazing. It feels like, "This is how the director sees Chainsaw Man."
What was your impression of the original Chainsaw Man manga?
I haven't read a lot of manga since I was a child, and when it was recommended to me, I thought, "Maybe I'll enjoy it too?" but I ended up reading it in one sitting (laughs). The characters are charming, the illustrations are beautiful, and when you're reading it, each panel passes by like a movie. I think it became such a wonderful work because everything works well together. To me, the most appealing thing about it is that it seems like it's easy to understand, but it's not. You keep flipping through the pages, wondering, "What is the true meaning of this line or this scene?" It was like watching a movie, and before I knew it, I had finished reading it.
What are the highlights of the animated version of Chainsaw Man, now that it's finally airing?
We haven't seen the final version yet, but it looks like a lot of effort has been put into it. The battle scenes have a great impact, and even small moments like Makima's "mune dau" are reproduced in minute detail. The real thrill of anime is movement, so I want people to enjoy it thinking, "So this is how they moved in that scene in the original work!"
Do you have a message for the fans?
This is the anime everyone has been waiting for! Everyone's enthusiasm is so strong that Chainsaw Man trends whenever information is released, and the production side is working on it with just as much love. I feel that kind of love as I play Makima. Please look forward to Chainsaw Man, made with everyone's love.
Translation notes:
(笑)indicates laughter, so I translated it as (laughs).
Tomori describes Makima's "優しくしてくるタイング" (literal, being-kind-timing) as her charm point, which I translated to "kindness timing"
Tomori says Makima "感情変化がなくて" literally meaning her emotions don't change, but I translated this into "doesn't get emotional," which sounds more natural but still conveys the same meaning.
Tomori quotes the staff and director as saying "最初のテープオーディションが理想", literally "first audition tape is ideal," I specified they meant her vocal performance from her first audition tape.
Translated "年齢感" (literal: age-feeling) to "sounding older".
"ムネダウ" is a direct quote from Makima, and I'm pretty sure she is referring to how they animated her saying the quote specifically, so I opted to just leave it romanized and untranslated.

Last week I saw Sophie Okonedo in Medea. It was very exiting!! Two (2) people asked me to share the experience, and one of them I have already told all this, but maybe someone else, who can’t go there, wants to read my random thoughts. For me it was a spontaneous, lucky chance, that I had, just now as it is playing, a little more time and someone to offer me a spot in their bed for the first few nights and one on their floor for the remaining ones, so I could go to England/London ;)
These are just my personal thoughts, in a weird order, and I really don’t know if they have any value for anyone, and this is full of spoilers of course!! Actually, it’s just one giant spoiler.
First of all: Needless to say, all above, that Sophie Okonedo was amazing and so good I forgot I came to see her, because there was only Medea and I was sad afterwards not having seen Sophie, even if I technically did. And I had goosebumps.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
•        I really liked the Sunglasses, she wore in the beginning (it was a modern element in a not particular modern setting, the other clothes were pretty neutral and they used very few accessories (something I always like in plays) and this was so useless, only used for her first sentences and then sitting there for the rest of the play! So really a statement and very fitting to her performance, the scene and the way her emotions got dealt with. Also looked very good on her.)
•           There was a disabled actress in a wheelchair, something I had never seen before in theater. She was good, too, everyone was.
•           The women of Corinth were portrayed in a cool way. It had already said on the internet, when booking that the audience would be the women of Corinth, and I thought, this would either be very good, because it can (and was!) be done very well, but audience interaction etc. can also be very weird and not work out. This was not weird and even if I had read it, I was surprised, and it created a very nice atmosphere. I liked how the three different women were not empty chorus characters as in the book, they each had a different personality. I liked especially the one that seemed a bit like Medea’s therapist.
•           Her emotions get explained (but not in a boring monolog way, well in a monolog, but a well made one) better in the beginning. It could also be that I just didn’t understand the book as well, but I found her situation and her character and way of dealing with everything much clearer here, even if I hadn’t thought it unclear in the book, but this was… better? It set the scene and the character very well.
•           Same with her reasoning throughout the whole thing, I didn’t always follow on every thought of hers while reading, but when Sophie played her in this version all her motivations were understandable.
•           I liked that they brought up the fact that she is in a foreign country + that she can’t go back (because of all the normal things that happened already) a lot. It made sense and was important for her character and the whole conflict, but didn’t get touched on as much by Euripides originally
•           It was cool, how her having certain medical knowledge and having helped people with it, was considered dangerous and dark and evil by certain characters, well Creon (that stinky Whitecloak), the Middle Ages are saying hi ;) especially nice, because she does use this knowledge for evil later, muhhahahah.
•           In general I liked most/all changes made. Which is a high compliment, because I usually find something to complain about.
•           Except: The guy walking in circles around everyone (stage is round and surrounded by the audience, pretty cool!). I liked that there was only one actor playing all the male characters, as they never appear at the same time, because I like it when there are small casts and he did it really well, the differences in the characters and you could see hm preparing for the changes, impressive! Because he was constantly on stage. Because when his characters were not in scene, he was walking creepily around everyone the stage, which was weird and annoying. But the friend I went with had a cool interpretation for this afterwards: He, as in all the men, were watching her and circling her, like birds watching their prey, as they cast her, the powerful woman out.
•           I didn’t even mind the use of the fog machine, something I usually hate and complain about a lot in plays. I don’t like it, but here it fit! It was good. The scene was good and the fog was not just to have weird, fancy something’s, but was just nice. I don’t know. I didn’t mind it.
•           I liked Medea’s outfit. In the beginning a sweater and a skirt, neutral, but very casual like pajamas, as she was wallowing
•           Then she changed into the black dress, again neutral, but looked very good ;))) Because she in this dress… well there are photos. Looks good.
•           Then there was one more change to er appearance in the end and that was the blood. All over her hands and face and it did have a certain something. I liked it. Yep.
•           The way she portrayed the deep satisfaction as the nurse tells what happened at the palace! The way she enjoys it! Her fascination at her own crimes! Delicious.
•           I liked how they were addressing the justice question in the whole story. They were really talking about how this is unjust, and it is, and since those plays are so much about morality, it was very important. Also having grown up with complicated siblings, justice is my favorite topic.
•           I also liked that they addressed the practicality of it all. Of really practically, where can she go, what is her backup plan now, how does she feed her children??
•           And the reality of the history of a fallen out relationship. The relationship between Medea and Jason was not just on paper, you could sense that there was something, that they once had something and that they were in the process of redefining it. That was great.
•           The best moment for me was without doubt when it was over. I mean that was the worst, because then it was over :(. But to watch Sophie switch from Medea to herself, the way she couldn’t smile and looked shocked at the applause for a moment. Like she came up from diving. And then she did smile and (omg, she smiled!!!!) you could see she had to force herself at first, because she was still a little in the killing-mindset, but then once she started it turned to her own genuine smile and it was as if a switch had been turned. Immersive. I mean, obviously that’s how acting works, but it was so deep with her. And you could see it in her face and there were those acting feelings on her face and it was a small but powerful moment.
•           But speaking of that I had a little theater culture shock. First of all, I wasn’t aware how big the theater culture is in England/London. It’s just a mainstream thing, people talk about it, there are lots of theaters in the streets. That is so cool! I was so impressed and liked talking about theater with my friend (who does it professionally, ok) but also random people so much! Here it’s a rather niche old people/nerd thing. So cool!!! I miss doing more theater a lot and seeing this was great. But along with it being more mainstream came also that you apparently don’t dress up? Here you dress up for theater, so I did even after my friend told me I didn’t have to, but I did bring my dress, so. And then there was the ending. I’ve only ever experienced long rounds of applause, the actors coming out many times, again and again and people clasping for a long time if they liked it. But this was at most a minute? Like a little clasping. They bowed, went and came out just one single time to bow again. I had never seen it this short even in far worse plays and it made the whole thing pretty abrupt for me because I was expecting it to go on for longer. I was also disappointed, because I wanted to see Sophie for longer, than a few seconds as before she hadn’t been herself but Medea. Then again, we were in the afternoon show, maybe that’s one reason for it to be shorter.
•           Speaking of afternoon show, obviously there were only old people in the audience (and us and I was sitting very far away from my friends). But the old lady next to me more or less also came for Sophie. Well, at least she said to me, this actress was very good, she had seen her in Cleopatra (!!!!!! Omg, I wish! That must have been amazing!!!). And I was like… I know. I came a pretty long way just to see this play. Because she’s in it. The old man in front of me was reading a book while the play had already started. Rude?? I mean, I had a book on my lap as well, obviously, but that was my emergency book and for before /after the play, because I sat really far away from my friends and there is usually a waiting period and it stayed closed the whole time, and most certainly during the play. Why??
•           It was of course a little sad that she didn’t have a sword. In the book she does. It’s not on scene, but it’s said. And I would have liked to see Sophie Okonedo with a sword. I did go to the UK for this, so could have at least given her a sword. Hm.
•           Aigeus is somewhat gay coded. And obviously stupid. Which could be a dangerous mix, but was hilarious (I thought), because I felt it was implied as if his childlessness is because of hid gayness and he just doesn’t know that there are two different set of genitalia needed to make a child happen and was genuinely confused that he was sill childless edit all the gay sex he might have had.  And when Medea promised to cure him, it did have the vibe of her then later just planning on educating him, which I thought was funny and also better than in the book where it sounded as if she was going to sleep with him.
•           My friend liked how much we were made to hate Jason. He really felt it and I know what he was talking about. It was the general vibe and then there were two things he said that were just such asshole moves. But yeah, I was so clear, that while Medea is the one to do the most evil thing ever, Jason gets the hate from the audience on purpose. Because none of those two are good people.
•           My friends, who, again, I did not sit with, and again the stage was round, said, Sophie was looking directly, very intensely at them, into their eyes very often, that’s so cool. I am jealous, she did not look intensely in my direction :(.
•           Oh, and the children themselves! They did appear early on, which made the weird objectification vibe from the book nonexistent. And the way they were incorporated was good too! I personally could also have imagined it with them not appearing at all until as dead corpses. But I also had wild theories while reading, that the theater-academia friend I went with said weren’t even that bad, about the whole play actually being about abortion (there were a few quotes, that make it not that far off!) or maybe the kids being newborn babies, twins, and she having postpartum psychosis/depression and hormones in general and thus going on a killing spree. Because in the book her mood swings are quite something! This was better in this play, as I said, her emotions and revoking were better to be followed. This doesn’t add up, because she has killed before the story already starts, but would be interesting. Anyways, the kids do appear multiple times and are more involved and it wasn’t bad, actually worked quite well!
So, it was a good play, a great play. I felt as if I couldn’t remember much afterwards and was terribly disappointed it was over, but that’s on me. Sophie was amazing and I love theater.
My friends, who are a little better equipped for reviewing (one is as I said in theater research, and the other has lots of smart thoughts usually), said they would tell me their thoughts after more processing, so maybe in a few weeks. If that happens, I can add it to this list.

[FULL TRANS] 230808 YoonA – ‘King The Land’ Post Drama Interview
Tumblr media
Q1: ‘King The Land’ ended amid hot interests. First of all, could you tell me how  you feel about it coming to an end? It was an acting project that I really put in my very best throughout the filming. That is why it feels even more special when it is wrapped up. As much as everyone worked hard, I would like to thank the viewers who loved and watched it with affection as if our hearts are connected. Also, I would like to take this opportunity to say “thank you, you worked hard” to the director, the writer, all the staff and all the actors who worked with me.
Q2: In particular, it was loved by viewers around the world and reached ‘Netflix Global Top 1’. How do you feel when you heard the news? First of all, I was very grateful when I heard the news. I was happy that many viewers around the world loved it, and I was able to realize it even more because many people around me congratulate me. While filming (Netflix) content, when asked about my bucket list, I shouted "'King the Land' Netflix Global No.1", and I was surprised and grateful that it really became a reality. When you go on Netflix, it felt good that our poster were always at no. 1 or the top few ranks on the main page.
Q3: This time, it is a romcom genre that is different from your previous drama ‘Big Mouth’ which was a noir genre, as an actress, you once again broadened the spectrum of challenge. While portraying Cheon Sarang, what are the parts that you paid the most attention to, both externally and internally? I always think about it whenever I start a new work, but this time, I wanted to show a different side of me from what I showed you before as I am challenging my first authentic romcom. On the outside, I would like to say that the transformation is that I cut bangs. I have never done a project with my bangs cut  before, so I had a lot of worries about whether or not to cut my bangs before filming, but this time, I cut my bangs because it seems to suit the loveliness of the character Cheon Sarang. From the result, I was also satisfied and I was proud that I got reactions from people me that it suits me. In terms of acting, as a hotelier, I put in a lot of thought and care in showing the professional side, romance and comedy parts in a well-balanced manner. I also reflected the details of what I learnt from actual hoteliers, the basic attitude and the serving posture, and I practiced smiling a lot just like Cheon Sarang did in the drama. I also paid attention to convey lines and actions that reveal a sense of duty and responsibility in more details. In addition to the romance and comedy parts, emphasizing teamwork and tiki-taka with the other actors, focusing on emotional delivery and facial expressions, paying attention to the tone and diction so that they can be seen as more natural and realistic reactions.
Q4: In particular, Cheon Sarang was a character with independence and individuality who went through the lobby desk with only her skills and went up to VVIP Lounge ‘King the Land’, the dream of all hoteliers. In the last episode, she left King Hotel and pursued her own dream. Is there a message that you wanted to tell through the growth of Cheon Sarang? Although romance was the main content of our drama, but I also paid a lot of attention to the way ‘Cheon Sarang’ was growing as a hotelier, seeking true laughter, and I also thought that the transformation through ‘love’ and ‘saving’ each other was also a stem of our drama. Cheon Sarang was a character who sincerely thought about the hotelier's life, and she was also a character who knew how to love herself. Because she knows how to love herself like that, she was able to be a person who can hold on to her loved ones without missing them and balance between both work and love. In life, there are times when you need courage and comfort, but I hope that the choice of ‘Cheon Sarang’ building her own hotel and finding her new path, diving straight to the emotion of love, and growing up in search of true laughter can be a source of courage and comfort to the viewers.
Q5: There were a lot of famous scenes produced from ‘King The Land’ that received well responses. What are the scenes or lines that are the most memorable for you? There are many of them. First of all, the Thailand fountain scene in episode 10. I think many people like this scene and atmosphere as it is a scene beautifully expressed like that of a fairy tale or a movie. I was satisfied because I think it was captured well and also because it is a scene where we coordinated on the outfits. And the best part of tiki-taka was the drinking scene on Gapado Island in episode 3. It was a scene where Gu Won and Sarang, who growled whenever they met in the beginning, brought up a little bit about each other for the 1st time, and it is an indispensable scene because Won opens his heart to Sarang who treats him sincerely without pretense. (Sarang starts to open her heart for him in episode 5 where he took care of her and celebrate her birthday. From then on, her heart starts to open up to Won little by little). During the actual filming, there were a lot of difficulties because of the strong wind, so I think that makes it more memorable.
Also, for the emotional parts, the scene where Sarang expresses her gratitude to Won for the first time during the helicopter press conference in episode 7, when Won confessed his love for Sarang in her grandmother's room, and in episode 16, the scene where Won tried to propose but failed to do so and instead, sincerely cheered and supported Sarang's dream, and also the scene where grandma cheered for her dream & handed her bankbooks was also memorable as I was genuinely emotional right from the rehearsal onwards.
In addition, the scene of introducing Happy Hour in 3 languages in episode 1, which can show a professional side, was also good as it was one of the scenes that showed Sarang's ability to go up to 'King the Land' from the start. Also, many people told me that they were thrilled with the tablecloth scene in episode 7, where Sarang informed Gu Won on the work. I thought it was a scene where my heart as a hotelier was conveyed well. I also like it because I think it is one of the moments of 'Sarang' that led to the growth and change of 'Gu Won'
I tried to pick only a few scenes from the 16 episodes, but there are too many (Laughs).
(t/l note: thread in twitter for this portion with videos/photos: https://twitter.com/mystarmyangel/status/1688729110733045760)
Q6: ‘King The Land’ was loved by many viewers. What is the most memorable reaction or comment? Or have you ever felt the popularity of the drama? I remembered a lot of the reactions from people who put the ‘King’ word in phrases such as ‘I’m so King into it’, ‘So King precious’. These were the sincere reactions from the viewers who knew the charms of ‘King The Land’ and were enamoured with it. I also felt the popularity of the drama as the people around me called me ‘Cheon Sarang’ rather than my first name, and greeted me with ‘Hermes^^’.
Q7: The chemistry with actor Lee Junho, who plays the role of Gu Won, was also a hot topic. How was the acting chemistry between you two? In a romcom, I thought chemistry between the two was very important, but we agreed well on the highlight points and I received a lot of help from him. That's why we were able to communicate and express comfortably while filming. While rehearsing on the set, we made ad-libs according to the situation & location, or exchanged ad-libs on the spot while filming, and I think all these small details added to the fun of watching it, so I also had expectations of watching the actual broadcast.
Q8: In addition, the chemistry of six siblings with Go Won Hee as Oh Pyeonghwa, Kim Ga Eun as Kang Da Eul, Ahn Seha as Noh Sang Sik, and Kim Jae Won as Lee Rowoon, as well as the chemistry with Kim Young Ok as grandmother, were loved a lot. How is it like filming with these actors? When all six of us got together, we had so much fun filming that the energy changed, all these scenes were so precious to the extent that I felt it was such a pity that we couldn't do more scenes together. It was not easy because it was rare to shoot the entire episode 10 all at outdoor filming locations, but since we are of similar age, the atmosphere seems to have formed more naturally. And we were able to talk a lot about the scenes even during the break and fill it up with our own tiki-taka.
In particular, among the six siblings, the three musketeers were very important to Sarang, and I am grateful that being with actress Won Hee & Ga Eun made it fun both during and outside of filming, hence I was able to spend our time together even more comfortably.
And more than anything, I was really happy and grateful to be able to work Kim Young Ok seonsaengnim, who is the grandmother and the only family’s member for Sarang. Thanks to seonsaengnim's energy & guidance, I learned a lot and was able to film happily.
Q9: What does 'King the Land' means to you and what kind of drama do you want to leave for the viewers? For me, ‘King The Land’ was a work that brought me to the next level of growth, where I was able to learn and experience the joy of making 'together' while sharing worries with the director, actors, and staff on set. I hope the viewers will remember it as a drama that can make people laugh happily with their hearts fluttered, and a drama that is easy and comfortable to watch while feeling the warmth from it.
Q10: Lastly, do you have any words you wish to say to the viewers who loved ‘King The Land’? ‘King The Land’ finished its run with a full happy ending. Just like the characters in 'King the Land'  who found true happiness through solid love, who grow up amidst sincerity, I will also root for the viewers of ‘King The Land’ to sincerely love yourselves and find your true happiness.
I am thankful towards all the people who loved and supported ‘King The Land’ and Cheon Sarang, this gives me a lot of strength, and I want to say thank you. Thank you so much foo loving ‘King The Land’ and Cheon Sarang all this time. And I would be back with the movie ‘2 O’Clock Date’ by director Lee Sang Geun, whom I have worked with in ‘EXIT’, so please show a lot of interest in it as well.

Hello....If you don't mind, can I ask your top 5 (or top 3) favorite characters from Jujutsu Kaisen? And why you loved them? And your top 5 favorite moments from the series? Sorry if you've answered this before.....
hi omg YES thank u for sending i haven't ever answered this! also i'm curious about your top 5 for both!!!! <3 (sorry this is so long 😭)
top 5 characters and why i love them...
1. geto, he is hands down my ultimate favourite. i think he has the most interesting back story, and i love the whole trope of a a character that has gone through something terrible with someone else but one of them became out 'bad', the other 'good'. he's my biggest comfort character!!!! i also like that his morals never changed, it's just his vision of who should be protected did (which i think is understandable, albeit completely wrong). i also love that he's amazing at karate as well, and i love his humour!
2. higuruma!!!!! like geto, i just completely adore his CT. i actually think objectively it's the coolest and most impressive one and i love when gege gets a bit more technical in explaining stuff (like with choso's blood manipulation too), also judgeman's design is AMAZING imo
3. rn shoko, i LOVEEE HER! once again i just think her character design is really cool, i love rct as a technique and i ❤️ characters as healers. i loved her in hidden inventory, i always think about her trying to teach geto and gojo rct in the most nonsense way. i'd say gege give her more screen time but i need her alive and happy with utahime by the end of the manga...
4. YUTA!!!!! once again i just love his character design, he is so cutesy. i love how sweet and adorable and awkward he can be, and ALL of his friendships are so cute. one of the coolest character designs in the manga, and the most recent chapter with his new domain?!!!! i'm still not quite sure if i prefer that or higuruma's domain more, i THINK i prefer deadly sentencing
5. TORN BETWEEN CHOSO AND MAKI, but ultimately i think choso... honestly once again i just love his design, i like the whole idea of what makes humanity and the way he brings in curses vs humans (it works better knowing jogo, dagon, etc all mourned other curses and said to meet again). overall he's charming and funny, nothing endears to me more than a character that just wants to protect someone. the best big brother. i love that he cries a lot, i want to give him a hug.
AND my top 5 moments... (warning for manga spoilers!!!!!!!!!!)
1. nanami's death. as much as i hated it and i love him, the voice acting was INCREDIBLE in that episode. the piano, the way he speaks so quietly, the cut scenes from it being so beautiful to the noises of him being in shibuya. i first watched it drunk and i replayed it honestly about 20 times, i even called my dad and made him watch it while i cried 😭 ... THE FACT THAT JUST BEFORE IT YUJI IS HAVING A BREAKDOWN... ugh all of it!!!!!! everyone's VA was immaculate... the emotion behind yuji's 'what the hell are you mahito' was incredible, and hearing mahito scream back for the first time made my stomach drop. incredible, amazing. i've seen that so many times but just hearing nanami's 'i'm tired, exhausted even' makes me start to tear up. god BLESS the voice actors for that scene
2. yuji vs mahito, specifically the imagery and how yuji is portrayed with the wolves. so beautifully animated, incredible. mahito throwing snow at yuji was sad but satisfying
3. mai's death and maki's awakening... okay so off the bat maki is amazing. seeing mai answer back her father and then sit over maki broke my heart. they're both just kids who love their sibling. they are just so tragic, maki's 'okay i get it, now come back' after mai says as long as i'm around you'll never develop. i love that scene because it shows that maki is already willing to go against all of the odds, even before complete heavenly restriction. i remember her telling yuji she would kill her clan (?) in jjk0 and even believing her then. the burn marks also add a lot to this scene i think. it was just really sadly cathartic to see the resolution to them as sisters, and heartbreaking. the first panel where she open's her eyes telling mai to wake up BREAKS ME. the panic on her face. also the line 'destroy everything big sister'. the fact she does. UGHHH!!!!
4. hmmm... choso's fake memory. the fight scene was really cool, but specifically, the part where yuji is eating with choso and his brothers. it's beautiful. the switch up in the way it's animated, looking like it's on an old vhs tape. so emotional. seeing yuji feeding choso and calling him big brother, just to cut to choso punching something and crying like he can't breathe. ugh i love them
5. the fight scene in hidden inventory... i just love it, i think it sets up all three of their personalities so well. i love how easily it portrays geto's personality: his morals, his ego, the sense of superiority he has. it perfectly displays his and gojo's friendship, their differences. we get to see them so in sync as yaga walks in and they both look away stretching, the way they both antagonise each other in sync before that

So I think I’m starting to see what it is about “Tale of the Body Thief” that puts some fans off.
The parallels being drawn between Lestat and this Raglan James guy are obvious, some might even say heavy-handed.  Earlier in the story, Lestat talks to David about basically being a wolf in sheep’s clothing, how his appearance is deceptive, how he isn’t the young man he appears to be, etc...  He does this to warn David off of thinking too highly of him, to remind David that he is, in fact, a monster.  And we see in Raglan’s first real meeting with Lestat that mirror image, of a monster concealed within a seemingly innocent, beautiful body.  And I get specifically what’s upsetting to people who are fans of Lestat’s portrayal through the first three books, particularly in “The Vampire Lestat” and “Queen of the Damned”, that being the implication that Lestat’s claims of emotion, that his claims of feeling, his claims of anguish at what he is, the guilt he feels over being a vampire, his moments of seeming goodness and kindness are a lie, both that he’s telling to himself and to the reader.  Lestat notes how good of an actor this Raglan James is, that he’s very convincingly affecting the demeanor of someone who is charming, and deeply empathetic and even kind, but who, in reality, is a horrible person who has no qualms whatsoever in hurting others.  Given some of the things I’ve seen Anne Rice herself say about Lestat being “evil” and knowing how to make people believe he isn’t, it seems to support what’s being put forth here in this book, that Lestat’s expressions of empathy and care and kindness in the previous books have all been some kind of falsehood.  And, yeah... I can see why that’s upsetting to a lot of fans, and why they write books 4-10 off.  Lestat is, after all, more like a lovable rogue in the first three books.  If you’re a fan of him in those books, suddenly being told that everything he portrayed himself to be there is a lie would be upsetting, even infuriating.
Louis even claims here that Lestat’s never once cried in front of him, which Lestat calls him out on as a lie, considering he claimed Lestat to have cried in their made up encounter in New Orleans in the 70s.  But Louis says to Lestat that he was “born a monster”, that he was never human, even before becoming a vampire, a clear accusation of him always having been a bad person.
If this is the case, it robs Lestat of the very tragic struggle between his human nature and his vampiric nature, and takes away a great deal of his relatability and sympathy as a character.  It turns him into a liar through and through.
I really do wonder about this though, because it seems to completely undercut what Anne Rice herself accomplished in those first three books, which was such a poignant and moving exploration of the effects of trauma on a person, how it continues to impact them all throughout their lives, in both their behavior, and in their relationships, etc...
Basically, I have a really hard time believing Anne Rice really saw Lestat, her hero, as nothing but a two-faced liar who never felt any real guilt or remorse at all for the lives he’s taken, or that his struggle with his vampiric nature was all BS.
I think, probably much more in line with Anne Rice’s obviously deep understanding of the human psyche, and human nature, that what’s really going on in this scene between Lestat and Raglan, is that Lestat is seeing a reflection of himself in this man.  A man who is never satisfied, a man who refuses to accept the rules, a man who refuses to accept defeat, and who goes out and takes what he wants, regardless of the consequences, and with apparently no sense of guilt or remorse for doing so.  And of course, not liking what he sees, and yet seeing himself in this person, Lestat is repulsed.
But what’s important to understand also here is that this Raglan James is obviously a master manipulator, and both Louis and David warned Lestat that he obviously knew Lestat well, and that’s why he targeted him.  He saw in Lestat an easily manipulated mark, someone he could convince in any way he really wished.  There’s a scene early on in the book, when Lestat is talking to David, and he becomes distracted by a car out on the road, driving slowly through a blinding snow storm.  It seems pretty obvious to me that that must have been Raglan out there.  And it’s in Lestat’s conversation with David here that he warns him off of trusting him too much, that he isn’t as he appears.  And what we find out later is that Raglan is quite adept at hearing Lestat’s thoughts, even as Lestat isn’t able to hear his, so we can assume he’s aware of Lestat’s insistence that he’s this evil monster who can’t and shouldn’t be trusted.  And Raglan seems perfectly like the type of person to prey on just that sort of guilt-fueled insecurity in another person.
In their final exchange, Lestat asks Raglan what he wants to use his body for, and Raglan laughs and tells him that he wants it to take life, of course, that it’s the ultimate prize for a thief like him.  And then he tells Lestat that Lestat himself is the ultimate thief.
Lestat is completely repelled by Raglan’s seeming lack of guilt or conscience regarding the act of murder.  He tells Raglan to get away from him, and Raglan laughs at him again.
I think that Reglan is purposefully fucking with Lestat, manipulating him by playing on his fear of his own monstrosity and guilt to get him to agree to switching bodies.  By drawing obvious parallels to the similarity between them, and revealing just enough of his own lack of conscience or remorse to plant this idea in Lestat’s head that his own feelings of guilt and remorse, his own moral difficulties with what he is, are false.  Lestat is appalled and, in the end, almost frightened of Reglan because he sees himself reflected in him, and seeing Reglan for the true monster he is, for the remorseless thief he is, he ends up believing the same of himself.
Reglan keeps driving home to Lestat that he’s a thief, and then laughing at him when Lestat denies it.  He says all the right things to him to entice him further into this notion that he wants to be human again, that he’ll get to experience all the things that being a vampire has taken from him, like food, and the sun, and sex.  Reglan is a liar, and he’s a manipulator, and he’s doing a hell of a good job manipulating Lestat here, at points almost entrancing him by knowing exactly the right thing to say and how to act, showing compassion for his plight.  He even says at one point that this thing he’s proposing in something only the two of them can do, just the two of them in all the world, playing on Lestat’s ardent desire to be able to matter in some way in the world, to give his life some sort of purpose.
So my point is, I guess, that Lestat ends up believing what this guy is telling him.  He ends up seeing himself as he sees Reglan, a remorseless and unfeeling monster.  The thing is, the lie of that is revealed in Lestat feeling guilt at all.  Reglan at one point even mocks it, when Lestat asks him what’s to keep him from just indefinitely stealing his body, and he tells Lestat that he doesn’t want it forever, the same way Lestat doesn’t want it forever, if his expressions of his agonies and torment over being a vampire are at all true.  He’s planting doubt into Lestat’s head as to his own sincerity over his guilt, by again drawing obvious parallels between them and then exposing just enough of himself to make Lestat think they’re truly the same.  He even says at one point about Lestat’s story in “The Vampire Lestat” Or is the story a lie?  You’re real enough, that’s plain.  But I don’t know about all those things you wrote.”  He’s totally messing with Lestat’s trust in his own emotions.  But I don’t buy what Reglan is saying for a moment.  Lestat ISN’T the same as Raglan James.  Lestat’s feelings of guilt, the pain he feels at the mistakes he’s made, the struggle between his human nature and his vampiric nature is real.
This really is a tragic thing we see unfolding, then, I think, because we’re watching Lestat being tricked out of believing in his own humanity. And that might account for him later becoming a more ruthless person.
Louis says to Lestat, before he meets with Reglan the next night “Something dreadful’s going to happen to you again.  You’’re going to see to it.  I know.”
Lestat talks about in this book how he seeks out others who will make him pay for all the bad things he’s done.  Louis and Claudia, Marius, David etc...  Louis says to Lestat “... you pick the voices that scold you.  You always have, in the same manner in which you pick those who will turn on you and stick the knife right into your heart.”
I’m more and more convinced that almost all of Lestat’s reckless and impulsive decisions are, in some way, an attempt to punish himself.  His guilt is so great, his sense of guilt, that he plows blindly forward with whatever choice will most make him pay for what he is and what he’s done, and he’s so consumed with this need for self-punishment, that he doesn’t think through the ways in which it will effect the people he loves.  He doesn’t think about how putting himself in danger can endanger others, he doesn’t think about how it will hurt Louis if he tries to kill himself, or if he tries to start a war with other vampires, or if he lets this Raglan James guy live, etc...  It isn’t that Lestat doesn’t care enough about others to care about what happens to them.  It’s that he hates himself so much that he can’t see past his desire to make himself suffer.  He’s been made to feel like a monster since he was a child, unwanted and unloved by his family, even his mother, to some extent.  He’s been made to feel like his very existence is a burden and a disgrace, by his father and brothers, by Nicki, by Armand, by Louis, by Claudia.  Louis admits after Lestat tells him he was cruel to tell him he was always a monster, that that was wrong of him to say.  The exact exchange is:
“And by the way, I wasn’t born a monster!  I was born a mortal child, the same as you!  Stronger than you!  More will to live than you!  That was cruel of you to say.”
“I know.  It was wrong.  Sometimes you frighten me so badly I hurl sticks and stones at you.  It’s foolish.  I’m glad to see you, though I dread admitting it...”
It’s obvious how afraid Lestat is, of this idea that he was always a monster, always a bad person.  He speaks about this very fear with Gabrielle, when he talks about wanting to leave his boyhood home and go to Paris, but how he thinks he can’t do so without being bad.  Lestat’s whole image of himself is wrapped up in this idea that to BE himself is to BE bad, and that negative self-image was born out of so many people in his life basically telling him as much.  Even Louis does it here, before walking it back and apologizing.
And this is the mindset Lestat walks into his meeting with Raglan with.
But the truth is, if Lestat was truly this evil, remorseless monster that he fears and deep down believes himself to be, than he would never be burdened by any sense of guilt.  He wouldn’t seek out others to punish him for being who he is, he wouldn’t be having visions of Claudia, and thinking constantly of how he’s wronged her, of the pain she felt, he wouldn’t be so agonized over his lust for blood and desire to kill that he would try to kill himself to end his suffering, or just simply punish himself by exposing himself to the sun.  He would be like Raglan James.  Someone who feels nothing at all when he hurts others.
That isn’t Lestat.  Clearly.  And again, the tragedy here, I think, even as I’m only in the first part of the book, is that Lestat ends up believing it about himself anyway.

Reading The Boys comics has pissed me the fuck off. But not for the reason that so many are willing to drop or denounce the series for.
Shock factor elements aside, the comics are actually a staunch and brilliantly written critique of the military industrial complex, the shit storm that is American politics, celebrity worship culture, corporate interests and greed, and status quo. And I would even argue these subjects are touched on in the comics better than they are in the show because they are actually explored in greater depth.
Shock factor elements included?
There's this almost funny, ironic, and infuriating thing that happens and is stated in the comics and show multiple times. That the number one reason people don't know about the atrocities that happen behind the scenes is that people don't want to hear about them.
And fuck me sideways with a sandpaper dildo because this. This exactly. Is only proven by people who completely disregard the comics because "shock factor".
There are no fucking shock factor elements in the comics. The reality is that the scenes and situations, even the characters reactions are portrayed in a way that pertains to real life in a too close for comfort kind of way, and they can't handle it.
It's not just escapism. It's not just the warm fuzzy feel good shit. And it's not giving mindless self indulgence or pulling any punches. And it's not just edgy jokes either. If you pay even a slither of actual attention, you quickly realize it's a direct showcasing and open critique of a brutal reality we actively live in and choose to ignore.
And it's exactly right! People choose to ignore it!
The only difference is presentation but it shows just how full of shit the people denouncing the comics based on "shock factor" are. No bitch, you're just the type of person the material is criticizing, and you can't stand it!
It's frustrating because it's exactly what made me fall in love with The Boys so much. It is the heart of the series but people are willingly blinding themselves to this over such nonsensical garbage in just the cruelest twist of irony. And it sucks. The comics definitely deserve a good read instead of the ire and bullshit people who haven't even bothered reading them constantly spew.
Even the characters show for so much more than meets the eye. The show gives them an edge because actors can be expressive in voice and tone in ways drawings just can't. But you can see them come to life and the core of what makes them.
I can't help but think of how genuinely moronic it is that people pretend the characters are so fundamentally different when they aren't! Especially when those bullshit artists haven't even read the fucking comics!
Bitch, with very little exception, maybe some tweakage here and there or swapped elements? These motherfuckers are the same!
If anything, Homelander is a more malignant bastard in the SHOW, who takes on half the shit originally done by team members. All while they softened Billy up a truckload so the two would be more digestible as a villain and antihero, instead of having Billy beat a baby to death with a lamp! Nevermind that Butcher is also a villain!
Bitches need to read the god damn comics before they say a god damn thing about them, or fuck the fuck off with that shit. I have never seen such horrible fucking media illiteracy from all sides of fandom. That means you babygirl fetishizers too.
I have had so many emotions reading these damn things, and not all of them are good. But that is the point. It's supposed to make you feel. Really feel in the same way reality would while it actually makes you think about where you stand in all the mess.
Are you just another cog in the machine?

Dune Part 2: Initial Thoughts.
Watched Dune Part two and I hate to be a contrarian, but it was just OK to me. Below is my non-spoiler take on the movie. Please excuse any grammatical errors, I'm just jotting down my thoughts.
Let's start with the positive! Here's What I enjoyed:
Cinematography and technical aspects.
We live in a world where bad and downright comical CGI has somehow become the norm. Dune circumvents this with a combination of beautiful practical scenery and effects and technical mastery that I don't think I've seen since the Pirates of the Carribean. It allowed me to be fully immersed in the world, and I truly appreciated that.
The performances of Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, and Austin Butler.
While I don't think anyone turned in an Oscar worthy performance, I do think that these 4 did really well with the material they were given. Zendaya gave a performance that was both nuanced and in moments quite fierce. Chani’s love, skepticism, and anger were all portrayed wonderfully. I absolutely loved the fluency in which she spoke the Freman language and the chemistry she had with Souheila Yacoub. With that being said, I have some notes lol. Some of the lines were both written and delivered awkwardly, her signature “scowl” became repetitive, and her eyes tended to be kind of dead in some emotional moments. But, I think that with more roles/experience under her belt, Z can become quite the force if she wants to be. Overall, I really enjoyed her performance.
Rebecca played a very believable momma bear and puppet master. She is, in my opinion, an underrated actor. There was never a moment where her performance left me wanting more.
Javier brought effortless humor to this film. Although I will say, the humor combined with the weird pacing made the religious zealot aspect of his character less believable. It kind of felt like when we got to those parts, he was still joking.
Austin plays a psychopath really well! No notes lol.
And now, what I didn't enjoy:
Timothee Chalamet
I know this is a very unpopular opinion, and I’ve TRIED to understand the hype, but I just…don’t. With that being said, he was good when it came to playing the “boy” Paul Atreides, but when it came time to be a fierce leader/Messiah, nothing about his portrayal was believable. Everytime he yelled or raised his voice, it completely took me out of the movie, almost to the point of laughing. Also, jumping from Zendaya, Javier Bardem, and Souheila Yacoub speaking the Freman language to Timothee speaking it, was jarring to say the least. Overall, it was an ok performance, but I feel he gets a TON of grace because of CMBYN. And I’ll leave it there.
The Pacing
It was rough, I can’t lie. One second, you're in a fast-paced action sequence, and then the next thing you know, the movie grinds to a halt via jump cut to a different, seemingly unrelated, scene where everybody is whispering.  Also, the quickness in which everyone, including the non-believers, rallied behind Paul contributed to the pacing issue. Everything either happened too fast or too slow and it never really found a balance. This movie jumps around a lot and sometimes it’s sloppily done and confusing.I know that there is a lot that has to be fit into these movies, but I feel like this aspect could’ve been handled better. Ultimately, I think it’s why the movie ended up feeling really long and sometimes repetitive to me.
Lack of Explanations
For starters, I don't like it when movies spoon feed you. BUT, in cases like Dune, where there’s a ton of pre-existing lore, I think it’s necessary to offer some explanation for the audience members who haven’t read the book. Introducing certain themes and items without any explanation whatsoever, will leave a lot of moviegoers confused and feeling like there may be a plot hole. For example, Chani’s blue scarf. If you haven’t read the book, you will have absolutely no idea why it suddenly appears halfway through the movie. You can make guesses based on prior scenes, but you’ll probably be wrong because the real reason is never introduced in the movie.
Overall, it was a decent experience. But to be honest, I don’t think it being placed in the same category as great sequels, such as the Dark knight, is warranted. I think this movie is getting a ton of grace simply because of the names attached to it and the general lack of well made action movies. It’s in the right place at the right time.
Well, that’s it for now. Hope you enjoyed the read!

Okay but the real question is who’s your favorite spider-man and why?
ANDREW GARFIELD 100%
that’s not to say that tobey and tom were bad, because they were fantastic but tasm spidey has me feeling things. I don’t have a least favorite though so none of this is in order !
THESE ARE JUST MY OPINIONS AND PREFERENCES !
Tumblr media
tobey! spidey:
tobey is not my favorite spiderman, but only because his character has the same energy as every other male protagonist written in the late 90’s - early 2000’s. kind of cringe (esp. the dialogue), very exaggerated underdog energy. I honestly can’t be too mad about it because it IS an early 2000’s movie, but they tried too hard to appeal to a teen audience. I will say however,,, I actually really enjoy his movies !! but I credit that primarily to the villains; I think willem dafoe (green goblin) performed the best in the entire series (as well as doc ock and jjj). I wasn’t crazy about what they did with Venom but he was kinda hot so n e wayz. I also loved some of the awkwardness, including the ridiculous way peter reacted to getting powers and waking up with abs.
in the first movie, I feel like peter is just kind of flat, as well as MJ, but their characters are much better to me in the other two movies (esp the 2nd which is my favorite of the three). I never really grew to care about MJ that much, but I did like gwen! I will say that tobey’s portrayal of adult peter was perfect; ik we haven’t really seen grown peter yet from tom or andrew, but I genuinely don’t think either of them could do it better than tobey did. I also LOVED the chemistry between peter and harry.
cons to tobey! spidey
flat characterization in first movie
tobey is just very monotonous in general which isn’t a big deal, I just personally don’t love it
very late 90’s - early 2000’s characterization that they could’ve fixed. def was just trying to appeal to a teen audience (bad writing)
cringe dialogue
unlikable love-interest (bad writing) they both sucked in the relationship straight up
pros to tobey! spidey
perfect portrayal of adult! peter (temperament, environment, etc)
fantastic villains (and their respective actors)
peter + harry dynamic !!! very well-written surprisingly and their chemistry is great
decently comic-book accurate (probably the most)
Tumblr media
tom! spidey:
tom had to portray a younger version of peter parker and without showing his origin story which I felt was already a disadvantage to him. luckily tom is a fantastic actor and I loved the writing so it ended up not being a big deal. his movies/characterization kind of go off track from comic-book accuracy, especially with side characters but I felt like it was a more modernized version of spiderman. socially, it’s A LOT more realistic compared to what we see from tobey’s spidey in school. the dynamics are very fun and well written, his peter is so cute and hard not to enjoy !
there are a few things I don’t like about tom’s peter and it’s mostly centered around his naivety. I don’t even mind that he’s emotional either, I just feel like his energy has not changed in the slightest over the course of his movies (maybe not including nwh). while yes, this is a younger peter parker, I feel like he’s notably less clever than the other versions of spiderman. yeah he’s good in school/science but that’s as much as they really do with that and I don’t love it. they pinned a bit too much of his characterization on his dynamic with tony stark (which I do love their relationship, but it admittedly causes some issues). I can blame most of the problems with this spidey on the fact that they had to find a way to include him in the mcu. Also I love zendaya’s MJ and think that aging down aunt may was a horrible choice creatively.
cons to tom! spidey
I don’t think aging him down and excluding his origin story was very smart at all but it wasn’t majorly disappointing
notably not as clever as the other two portrayals (still intelligent though)
lack of comic book accuracy
lack of his own story; everything kind of traces back to the avengers/shield/stark. too much of his characterization relied on tony stark, excluding the mentor aspect of things. like, peter didn’t get to do enough learning on his own.
aged down aunt may :( Marisa did great but the value in May’s character just kind of went down a bit. the fact that she’s old makes things all the more emotional and they took that away. I almost feel like the sentiment that was meant for may ended up going towards / focused on tony
pros to tom! spidey
fantastic acting and casting !
great/funny writing ! lack of cringe which I love
very likable love interest ! zendaya is lovely and the character change on MJ was really charming. it goes to show that a character doesn’t always have to be comic accurate to be good.
likable side characters and school dynamics ! Ned and MJ supremacy. it’s a pretty realistic representation of life in modern high school. Beefy white guys are not the only popular bullies anymore.
tony / peter dynamic. I know I said it focused too much on tony, but this relationship has a very special place in my heart, especially because the tony saw himself in peter. I REALLY wish they spent more time giving this dynamic to Harley/Tony instead, so that Peter could’ve been more independent.

andrew! spidey:
my beloved. he’s both my favorite spiderman and peter parker for an abundance of reasons and I only wish he had gotten better villains and a better second movie. andrew’s acting was perfectly spot on for peter parker in the beginning; his initial selfishness because of his trauma and the way he treated ben/may was represented really well to me. his cleverness and interest in science is shown right off the bat simply through the tech he built to lock his door lol and he didn’t even have to be the smartest in his class. GWEN !! andrew and emma’s chemistry is forever unmatched and gwen was perfect ! loved that peter was ranked 2nd to her in school/intelligence. I really liked how he was represented as unpopular in school, a modern showing of a “weird kid”. yet still had a sense of justice that’s shown when he stands up to Flash. His willingness to make jokes and use his wit as Spiderman really hit the mark for me as teenage peter! Definitely the best Spiderman personality in my opinion.
Something I didn’t like was the whole side plot with his parents deaths, I feel as though it didn’t fit in with the second movie at all and they should’ve just ended it at the fact that his dad was just trying to keep his work from being weaponized. I also don’t like any of the villains that much despite feeling sooo bad for max lol. Harry Osborne !! there was 0 chemistry between Peter and harry and I hated watching them together on-screen (harry was sexc tho).
cons to andrew! spidey
literally the whole 2nd movie; they were just doing too much ! (bad writing, great acting from main characters tho)
bad choice in villains
he adapted to being spiderman maybe a little too fast; could’ve show more awkwardness/fails. I feel like most super hero movies do this though.
0 harry/peter chemistry absolutely none. both great actors tho fr.
pros for andrew! spidey
best characterization in my opinion, especially his attitude change / confidence and wittiness as spiderman
fantastic acting from the main characters!
extremely likable love interest !
clear cleverness (esp. in dialogue) despite not being the top of his class
the peter/gwen chemistry !!!
the peter/may dynamic ! definitely the best of the three in this category
emotional but not cringe, which is the goal y’all
OK SO YEAH. I might have went all-out on answering this but I am very passionate. I was out on the streets at 12 years old fighting for MY LIFE defending andrew’s spiderman and nothing has changed.
I encourage other people to tell me your fave spiderman and why !

06x12//Never Gonna Give You Up - weekly recap
aka the one where I go against the grain, and you’re free to move on if that’s not for you
- Vic looking cute in the beginning and being ready to defend/save Travis with a baseball bat. Including their sweet and funny friendship moment and Vic being a nerd - what else could we ask for?
- Andy looks just great in this episode as well, both at home and in the field. Could have done without The British Dude, though, just saying
- that exchange between Andy and Ross in the beginning was just great, and I’m all here for it
- We need more of the casual jokes, like Maya saying “I hate that I know this” and Travis going “Oh, I know her”
- Vic supporting Theo, even though she didn’t quite understand what he was going through and was having a hard time, is still something I love about them (even though I did wonder what the repercussions would be in real life for just starting your own investigation like that). In general, Theo’s current storyline is so important and relevant to tell, and they’re doing such a great job at portraying all these emotions and conflicts
- For one of the first times (or the first time?) Maya is actually distracted from her job when they hear the news about what’s going on at the clinic, and it shows that a) priorities seem to be shifting for her and b) she clearly still isn’t okay. Which brings us back to “why is she already back on active duty?”, but I digress
- Which brings us to how Ross reacted to Maya losing her cool, and I really think she handled that one pretty well. Ross isn’t exactly known to be all warm at work, but while she did make it clear that they were on the job and that there was no time or space for personal panic, she was also empathetic of Maya’s situation and told her she would try to get more information and I loved that small gesture
- I wish that scenario with the girl and her smartphone was completely unrealistic, but having worked with younger folks, I am sad to report that nope, I’ve definitely seen stuff like that happen before. But to keep the peace: Of course that was a very extreme case, because it’s a drama show, duh.
- And of course they use yet another rescued person as a *hint hint nudge nudge* for one of the main characters (*cough cough* Ross and Sullivan) and at this rate it’s so hilariously and painfully obvious when they do that
- The British Dude being annoying af, man. (side note: That actor seems brilliant though)
- The controversial part: I loved that conversation between Andy and Ross towards the end. In the beginning, Ross was upset at the team’s actions and called it a mutiny and seemed just about ready to shut this station down herself, but then she watched them out in the field and thought about what Andy did, and she actually changed her mind and I loved that they showed that. Ross is, in no way, meant to be a perfect character. In fact, they made it clear from almost day one that she is deeply flawed, despite her ambitions as a female chief. Andy calmly but firmly explained why they did what they did and Ross considered her point of view and ended up agreeing with her, and I can respect that change of mind. Whatever happens between Maya and Ross in the future, is a different topic altogether, and I don’t like to make predictions about that, based on the relationship or lack thereof they are having at the moment, after Maya’s insubordination, mental breakdown and her blackmailing
- I also understand why Andy declined the position as acting captain. She really, truly, wants to be captain of 19, but she doesn’t want it, only to have it taken away from her again so soon. She is showing more and more that she can be and is a fantastic leader, but she doesn’t want it to be a makeshift thing and I understand that decision
- I love that Ross chose Theo as the acting captain instead and that Theo did not decline it, meaning he has made progress since asking for his own demotion all those years ago. Also, we got a bro hug between Travis and Theo out of that, and that’s always a nice bonus
- final side note about Grey’s: I loved that Ben pointed out to Maya that how she had felt about Carina is how Carina feels about her all the time when they’re at work. Maya is all about figuring out other people’s perspectives and feelings, and Ben might have helped her a lot with that
PS: The visual of Andy, Maya and Ross in those overalls was very much appreciated
