#okay hi another fun fact about me is that i fucking love ghosts
milf-harrington · 2 years
Note
just realized steddie being ghosts implies that other dead st characters are also ghosts (depending on what kinda ghost lore we're working on. are they required to have unfinished earthly business?) anyway steve and eddie beat billy's ass in the afterlife and more importantly steve gets to make sure nancy knows that barb doesn't blame her for how things went down bc I think nancy deserves that closure. also eddie and chrissy are besties maybe
RORI YOUR MIND!!!
i love the idea of steddie sticking around bc steve just cannot let go of his kids, cant just leave them and nancy and robin, because whos going to look after them when he's gone? and eddie, man, eddie was supposed to graduate, how can he just hop on over to the afterlife when even in his last moments he was thinking about finally getting to walk across that stage??
but i do also love the idea of other characters hanging around as ghosts - eddie dying and then waking up and he finds chrissy sitting on his front steps, a smile and a wave and a promise that she doesnt blame him. he haunts his guitar and the high school, feels the most solid sat atop his Dungeon Master throne, feels the most alive when the room is filled with players, when dustin is commanding the table just like eddie used to.
chrissy haunts the trailer park mostly, but sometimes you can smell her perfume in the girls locker room, or at first glance it might look like theres one too many girls on the cheer team.
steve dies and wakes up and the first thing he hears is eddies voice bitching about how he was meant to live a lot longer than that "what the fuck harrington" and for some reason he's drawn to his pool (not his actual house, he was already haunting it in life, he doesnt have to in death) and he finds a girl with her feet in the water and oh. it's barb.
steve haunts his kids, and robin buckley, and nancy wheeler. feels the most tangible when hes sitting on the counter of family video, watching robin lazily chew gum and mutter about customers and cute girls like she knows he's still there with her; feels the most at peace leaned against a suddenly-faulty game at the arcade, watching over the party as he's always done.
barb haunts steves pool, and nancy wheelers house, and the locker three quarters of the way down the front hall of hawkins high. every night the pool lights flicker on, with or without anyone there to flip a switch, and that single locker always takes a little extra effort to open because the hinges are always cold and brittle and stuck.
billy haunts the grounds where the old starcourt mall was, but some nights on empty roads a rough breeze will go past like the wind off a fast moving car and for that brief moment you can hear rock music and an engine purring before its just an empty road again.
steve and eddie absolutely beat billy's ass, theyre a mean team when they work together - especially bc i KNOW eddie fights dirty, he's scrappy, he probably bites or something.
and when steve can manage it, the first thing he tells nancy is that barb doesnt blame her, and nancy definitely cried but in the quiet way, where your emotions are too big to contain but youre not bawling.

THEY CAUGHT YOU MASTURBATING (COD +18)
* fuck, I should really write car sex with Keegan
ENGLISH IS NOT MY FIRST LANGUAGE
Tumblr media
Ghost
After a tiring day at work, you entered your room and finally found comfort by lying down on your bed. As you settled in, your hand slides down between your legs, feeling the stress gradually melt away. Soft moans escaped your lips until suddenly, you heard someone clear their throat.
Simon's voice broke the silence, “Is this what you do when you're not at work?”.
Filled with anger, you couldn't help but scream at him: “Fucking bastard”.
“Close the door next time.” He told you in response, before nonchalantly walking away.
Soap
"Hey-". He enters your room without bothering to knock, finding you in a compromising position, desperately trying to come thanks to your fingers. You noticed him, covering yourself as quickly as you could with a blanket.
"I'm sorry-". You see his face turn bright red, especially after hearing your laugh. You find him cute, so you decided to try and see how far he would go, pushing his limits: "What? Do you like what you see?" At your challenging words, he leaves the room almost running, tripping over his own feet down the hall.
Price
He has no respect for your privacy. He barges into the bathroom while you're changing, enters your room while you're asleep, and even catches you in the act of pleasuring yourself.
You've become desensitized to it all and continue to masturbate without batting an eye. He loves watching you with a smirk, sitting at a distance, and encourages you with praises.
"Keep it up, babe. You're doing great. Go deeper with those fingers. I'm so proud of you."
Gaz
You've been close friends for what feels like an eternity, perhaps even longer than you can remember. Throughout the years, he has witnessed you in every conceivable scenario... except for this one. Without warning, he barged into your office, catching you in the act of pleasuring yourself with a vibrator.
Unaware of his presence, you continued. You were oblivious to his presence, so he quietly shut the door, allowing you to continue uninterrupted. He stood glued to the door, with one ear pressed against it. He covertly savored your moans and the vibration of the sex toy, peering through the keyhole with one hand between his legs
Alejandro
“Mi amor, have you seen my shirt?”. He said walking into your room, seeing you with his shirt on masturbating.“Fuck, you're really having fun,” he laughed, seeing how you immediately closed your legs trying to hide yourself with the hands.
“Don't hide, love, I love seeing how desperate you are.” Alejandro teased you, spreading your legs forcefully, putting his face in between.
“Leave it to me, okay?”. You nodded, feeling his tongue begin to pleasure you. “If my shirt isn't wet when I'm done, I'll punish you.”
Graves
There were no secrets between the two of you. You pleasured yourself quietly, without any fear of being caught. However, it bothered him. He despised the fact that you were enjoying yourself without him, which only made you want to do it more intentionally. Most of the time, he would catch you with two fingers inside, moaning his name loudly. "How many times do I have to tell you to do it in front of me?" he says sternly, as he removes your hand from between your legs and replaces it with his own.
"Come on, baby, be a good girl/boy and give me another one. Only I can touch you, got it?"
You adored his fingers; they always reached deeper than yours and drove you wild.
König
You were always busy, your phone never stopped ringing: whether it was for work or personal matters. The only time you could truly relax was at night.
You placed a pillow in the middle of the bed and slowly rode it, relishing in the sensation of the fabric against your sex. Just as you were about to climax, the phone rang. You answered it out of habit, and your boyfriend König's voice made you moan even louder.
"What are you doing, you naughty girl/boy?" he teased. “N-nothing”. You heard him laugh.
"Keep going," he instructed, "I'll stay on the line until you finish”.
Keegan
Keegan gave you a ride home like he always did after every date. However, today was a bit different. The man sitting next to you looked even more attractive in the evening, which got you incredibly excited. You didn't want to distract him, he wasn’t a good driver, so you discreetly squeezed your legs together, trying to alleviate the discomfort in between.
As your panties started to get wet, you subtly opened them and ran a hand over your own inner thigh. "You alright?" He asked, noticing your flustered state. "Yeah, I'm just feeling hot," you replied, avoiding eye contact.
"Are you sure? I bet that's the issue, you naughty little thing," he said with a satisfied smile, slowly sliding his hand between your legs.

Thinking about if Dani ever gets added to the Villain Everlasting Trio au, like how would she fit in? Obviously the JL would have to figure out she's a clone and try and figure out why she exists ("maybe fenton is just that narcissistic?" flash asks, meanwhile batman is already texts agent a to get ready another room in addition to the three already prepared). Maybe she acts like the innocent kid in danger until heroes get close? batfamily trying to pspspsps her away from fenton? The trio collectively calling her their daughter?
I love this au so much, even if I still don't fully forgive you for making Tucker hot.
The way I SPRINTED to my computer.
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: This particular AU has nothing to do with Fun Sized and Feral by @nutcase8691 or my Dani Fenton redesign from a while ago. This isn’t really important, but I thought the plot of this au might be straying the tiniest bit too close to the Feral AU (which I love btw) and I just didn’t want to cause confusion.
TLDR: Dani had to mature too quickly in their home world, so when she arrived in the DC universe, she finally got to slow down and be a kid. :)
Okay okay. Give me a moment. Since everyone is acting like the opposite of their usual self when they're playing villains, your question was, how would she fit in? To backtrack to this earlier post, I said that each of the trio's specific gimmicks somehow ties into their everyday lives. They looked at their immediate friends, family and acquaintances, picked out the traits they saw as 'villainous,' and then applied that to themselves.
Danny became a mad scientist because even though his parents love him through and through, they still hurt him the most. The threat of capture and dissection from the GIW didn't help, either. He wears a suit similar to his parents, pushes his hair up so he can see better, and his white lab coat looks a little like the GIW's suits. The suit is also red, which is the opposite of green, distancing himself further from his hero life as Phantom and connecting him more to his civilian self, where red is present on his shirt. He refuses to use his powers, as well.
Sam looks like an angel, which seems odd given her completely goth look and slightly pessimistic attitude. And if she uses her plant powers (shut up, she totally has them) as part of Team Phantom, then that rules out using them as a villain. They want to completely separate these alter-egos from each other. Well, one of the most significant sources of strife in Sam's personal life is her parents. In the show, they're seen constantly fighting with Sam, trying to mold her into their perfect daughter, when Sam is very obviously happy with how she is right now. So as a silent fuck you to her parents, Sam gets a hold of a Realm artifact, the halo, which gives her a pair of ghostly wings and the ability of flight. Now, she's the one in the air, and Sam is still doing what she does best, even as an angel. She tries to show the world that not all angels are perfect, and in fact, they can be downright monstrous. (This is where her more aggressive and destructive attitude comes in.)
As far as I'm aware, Tucker doesn't have any trauma related to his parents. (The lucky bastard.) He is the tech-nerd stereotype, however. And since he's from a cartoon from 2004, that means he gets bullied. A lot. The show focuses mainly on Danny, but you cannot tell me Tucker wasn't bullied like that, either. For the sake of the au, let's say Danny was taking all the beatings for Tucker. Maybe he was in canon; I can't remember. But not only is Tucker being physically bullied but so is his best friend. (Eventually lover!) And imagine his feelings when Team Phantom shows up to a ghost fight, and Tucker is absolutely useless the entire time. He just can't help at all. Danny and Sam are on the front lines, redirecting hits and doing damage control, and here he is, waiting for the Wi-Fi to catch up on his PDA. It eats him up. He wants to be helpful in more ways than one, and that's what the DC universe gives him. He takes another Realm artifact; this time, it's actually his by birthright, and the artifact drastically increases his physical power, just like he's always wanted. He learns Egyptian magic and dresses in a way that gives homage to his time in Egypt-which was traumatizing by itself, but hey, he has sweet beetle magic now.
Basically, Fenton, Manson, and Foley are all the results of the trio's frustrations and fears. They become the things they stress about the most to help cope with their everyday lives. The DC universe is their outlet.
So where does Dani fit in?
Well, Dani is a clone, as we know. Her creation and introduction to the world were rather sudden if you compare her to a typical baby. And that's what she is; a baby. Unless you jumped the timeline far into the future, Dani is barely a year old in canon (I think.) And after her team-up with Danny to defeat Vlad, she makes the decision to leave Amity and travels the world. She has to navigate an entire world independently, even if Danny wants to help her. So now, plop her in the DC verse. What's the opposite of an independent clone who's had to fend for herself from a very young age and has had almost no real familial bonds?
A kid. A scared, touched-starved child who's had no one to look after her for who knows how long. (Vlad doesn't count here.) Dani gets to the DC verse and cries because she and Danny can finally bond like she always wanted to. She doesn't have to put up a strong front because the trio is there to protect her. Dani is extremely young, and now she can finally be a kid. It's not mental age regression; instead, Dani no longer has to hold herself back from doing childish things or crying. Both are things that could be a danger when you're living on the streets. She spends almost all her time here now.
The Everlasting Trio had already missed her before, but they had just fully adopted her in this new world. Dani is their baby. Their little girl. She didn't ask to be born-she shouldn't have to suffer because it was unsafe at home. Well, they can make a new one, just for her, here in this universe. And look! There’s more clones for her to bond with! The GZ is more accessible than ever, and their commute between universes really isn’t that bad. They like it here! And the heroes and villains will never take her away, no matter how hard they try. Sure, Dani can have playdates with some of them, but she will wail and scream if anyone so much as suggests she stay the night without her parent's permission.
Oh, and she never stops being a little shit. If anyone doubts that Fenton and Dani are related, they are simply ushered online to see that one viral clip of Dani latching on to King Shark with her teeth and not letting go in the middle of a shopping plaza. The camera pans to the left a moment later, and the audience spots Fenton doing the exact same thing to John Constantine.
The first time the Justice League meets Dani, it's right after she got lost during a spacewalk with Danny and Sam. She enters the first place she sees, the Watchtower, and breaks down in front of Wonder Woman about how she can't find her parents and doesn't know how to get home. The heroes are baffled and try to comfort her until Danny comes barging in five minutes later, panicking over his baby girl missing. They reunite, the heroes are reeling, and Superman mentions he didn't think Fenton was old enough to have a kid.
Fenton looks up from his bear hug and goes: "Huh? Oh, no. I'm only seventeen. (work with me here) Dani is technically my clone, but we adopted her properly as soon as possible."
And now the League has two issues. Their most annoying enemy is only seventeen. And he has a clone.
What the f u c k.
Extra analysis: Dani's outfit is cleaner and a little fancier than what she wore in the show. She ties her hair up like Tucker and pins her bangs back like Sam. She already looks identical to Danny but likes to wear his sweaters, especially in cold weather. The oversized clothes remind her of her time with Danny in Amity Park, and helps hide her physique better, so it's hard to tell how old she is. She wears leggings to show that she no longer has to fight for her life every day on the streets. Now that the trio adopted her, she can relax and let someone else take the hits for a while. (We all know how fast leggings and tights can be ruined when doing literally anything.) Fright Knight gifts her a cursed doll that helps protect her in stressful situations and functions like an SOS beacon. JLD hates the bear. (She named it Strawbeary.)
She acts on her impulses more often, which the trio sees as a good thing. Even if that impulsive desire gets her in trouble, it gives everyone a chance to learn and grow as a family. Dani also refrains from going ghost at first, following her dad's wishes. Right now, she's just giving herself a break from her previous nomadic lifestyle. After a bit, she and Danny will bond over their halfa status, and she'll grow into her own unique core and powerset. The heroes dread the day the littlest Fenton decides to join her parents in their shenanigans.

For the OC ask meme!
9 and 12 (fave teach and fave event/role in it)
Nine has been answered here! But twelve—!
Tumblr media
stitch event, my beloved. spoilers ahead since it hasn’t hit en servers yet
(this also wound up kinda long but its because its crucial to me okay)
it was a tie between this and the ghost marriage event, but storyline wise i have to go with lost in the book with stitch because it’s the event that officially launches the 💖KISS KISS FALL IN LOVE 💖 factor within the quasi-glorious and utterly exhausting misadventures of one gia yugo.
working with the assumption this is the final escapade of the trial by fire that was gia’s freshman year, one would think the approach of summer vacation would give them some semblance of comfort. once everyone takes their leave, gia and grim get left with the run of the school grounds— something gia fully planned to take advantage of in preparation of sophomore year.
suddenly being stuck on a magic island certainly put a pause on things. and gia…doesn’t seem to mind… like at ALL.
to everyone’s surprise, the normally straight-faced, busy-bodied prefect of ramshackle dorm is having the time of their life. smiling, openly playful, quick to joke— even volunteering to sing at the campfire alongside floyd and stitch’s ukulele strumming— ace initially worries gia might have hit their head when no one was looking.
after some needling on his part, a conversation that takes place during his suisui wear vignette when they go out on patrol, gia finally tells him despite being stranded on an island, they can’t help but feel…happy that it happened.
it’s a tad selfish, they admit. but while they were hearing everyone’s plans for summer vacay back at the library, there’d been this sense of bitterness welling up inside them. they were going to be stuck at school stewing over the threat of what their future held while everyone else got to go home and spend time with their families or whatever.
they didn’t have to think about what was going to happen after graduation.
gia on the other hand isn’t sure what comes next and that terrifies them. but they’ll deal with their crushing fear of the future when they get back to school, for now they’ll take the island for the breath of fresh air that it is.
yeah, okay, being stranded isn’t exactly a vacation— but it’s a bit of a ‘been there, done that’ type of deal. in comparison to their arrival at night raven, being stuck on an island with perfect weather, tons of food, and an alien that can make anything out of everything is a cake walk.
and besides…even if they do wish deuce was there enjoying the sea breeze with them. they’ve got ace, don’t they?
there’s a little more to this convo i’d like to flesh out, but there is a notable shift between gia and ace during the final days on the island. they are almost inseparable, often making up excuses to pair up for the day’s chores and generally having fun together.
ace comes to realize that this “new gia” isn’t actually new and in fact, he’d been catching glimpses of them throughout the school year. it’s the reason why he sticks by them even when things get real fucking bad, real fucking quick.
he’d sooner go through another ten overblots scenarios than verbally admit this, but in truth, he’s come to deeply care for this weirdo. the thought of someday they might not be there anymore leaves an awful taste in his mouth.
when the time to leave on the spaceship comes and they’re rocketing towards the atmosphere, ace sees this side of gia already beginning to slip back into hiding. before he can really stop himself, he tells them not to shut themself in again. they’re gonna have just as much fun together as they did on the island when they get back to school, got it?
i cannot explain how upset i was when the group wakes up with no recollection of everything that happened— the ‘group forgets the entire adventure they went through at the end of it all’ trope is the bane of my existence BUT we see that the group has an inkling that SOMETHING happened between them and i’m running with that SO—
gia didn’t get the chance to reply to ace’s statement on the ship, but they are absolutely BEAMING after they wake up, look at him and say: i feel like…we were just talking about something.
and ace is confused, more so a little stunned by how natural the smile looks on gia’s face, but he can’t quite shake the feeling either.
no one can quite put a finger on what happened, even though everyone suddenly has the urge to have an outing to the beach together despite the majority of this group never having hung out together in such a way, but no one fights it either.
gia personally is excited to have something to look forward to for once.
when the time to go meet at the beach comes, there is the reoccurring phenomenon of group déjà vu they all just decide to shrug at. but for ace, he gets hit by it the hardest whenever he steals a glance at gia.
they dont look any different, save for the smile they shoot him when they catch his eye.
(hey but gar isn’t gia shipped with floyd. yes, my love. they are. and they’re shipped with ace too. it’s eventually a polycule that forms after they all graduate named dragon roll— hey dont run, dont run i promise i make it make sense coME BACK—)
wanna send an ask or get some yourself? here!

Rereading that noncon Ghoap puppy walk fic bc it makes me go insane. And I have so many questions. How can Johnny even breathe? What did they do beforehand that the others just immediately incorporate it into their routine? Did Gaz encounter puppy!Soap before? What are Price and Gaz thoughts on all this (Bc fuck, their commentary killed me - asking about belly rubs and giving advise on punishment)? Do they think this is completely consensual? Or do they suspect that there is more going on? Do they hope that there is more going on? Are they getting off on the thought of participating even in the smallest of ways in breaking down Soap? If ever Soap got his brains together enough to ask for help, would they give it to him or would they push him to his knees and take him like they always dreamed of doing and then return him to Ghost?
ahhh day 11 kinktober. my longest and least popular drabble from that month LMAO. tysm for asking about it!
i actually mapped quite a bit of that fic out in my head! but because it's entirely from soap's perspective, there are questions that you just can't answer yk?
first of all - it's pure erotica, so it exists in that kind of limbo that all semi-public/public erotica exists in - you've got to suspend your disbelief a bit, just for the sake of horniness lmao
1 - johnny can breathe (through his nose, because the hood isn't sealed shut), but not well. he's breathing heavily throughout the entire fic because of both his panic and the fact that he can only breathe through his nose
2 - i think i said this in another ask but! it was supposed to be that when ghost left johnny tied up at the beginning of the fic, he was going around and making sure only certain people were on base (hence price asking why he didn't come sign his paperwork). no rookies, since they could potentially lose all respect for soap, and no people who he knew were going to be shitty about it. the people he was okay with seeing johnny, he'd go up and say basically "i'm going to be doing public kink here later. either go or don't complain later". there probably aren't all that many people actually still on base, just lots of people looping around the building to watch
3 - gaz has probably caught the Vibe before, just from the way that ghost treats soap (and neither of them are subtle). price probably knows the extent of it just because he's their captain and he knows everything about all of them, but he's content to let them be. also gaz is probably just a kinky as them lmao, he doesn't care
4 - im soooo mixed on the "do price and gaz know it's not entirely consensual" thing. my gut says that price knows that ghost is manipulating soap, and gaz suspects. i think gaz might get a little worried, try and ask soap about it, and be mollified when soap near aggressively defends ghost. but price? he knows everything about them, doesn't he? but i think price also knows that sometimes the best thing for someone isn't always the nicest... and soap seems better with ghost, seems better after his training. as long as ghost isn't destroying him, he'll let them be
(i looooved their commentary too. i very very rarely dabble in public humiliation, and it's got to be sooo specific for it to work for me, but i love it in that fic)
5 - they both 100000% get off on being involved. if they didn't, they'd step back a bit. price is always gonna get off on being in control (and im a big fan of some light priceghost... maybe price taught ghost how to control a wild boy, and he enjoys watching his student grow into a master) and i think gaz is probably kinda into puppy play himself lmao, he's just there to get hard and have fun
i think if soap went to price for help, he'd get his mouth fucked, his ass whipped with a belt, and get locked in his cage until ghost got back. but im really not sure about gaz....
part of me says gaz is a sweetheart, he'd help soap. i could see him taking soap to price for help, and then the above following (right after price "explains" what soap needs to gaz, does a little manipulation and gaslighting of his own)
thanks for your questions! hope my answers are satisfactory lol

Okay, I hate this
I hate this I hate this I hate this
We just had an episode that implied Eddie didn't know he could say no to the possibility of sex with Marisol. It was also implied that option didn't occur to Buck either.
And now there's a speculation that Buck and Eddie are not just letting loose and having fun... but are drugged and out of their minds.
Eddie getting his shirt ripped off because he's finally breaking out of the box he's been confining himself to? Beautiful and poetic and I love it.
Eddie getting his shirt ripped off because he's been drugged? No fucking thank you!!!!
But it's possible and that pisses me off.
(Whump is always fun. But in canon, with two characters who don't know they can say no and one who's been assaulted before, it's not good!!! This show is fantastic about handling serious issues and heavy conversations. Consent? Not so much).
Unfortunately, since there's possibilities surrounding consent right now, I have a theory or two.
If they're really copy pasting BT onto Eddie and Marisol, then they could possibly do the 5x11 thing and Eddie is going to kiss someone. Drunk. (Or drugged, depending on that spec). Consent? Don't know her.
But if they do, it could shatter the box he's been in, and himself. I hate the idea that Eddie always has to completely break to be able to heal, but he doesn't know any other way to be. Ryan hinted at the possibility of Eddie breaking again. So what makes it happen, what does he learn from it, and how does Marisol factor in?
If they do the BT parallel and he kisses someone, consensual or not, he's going to feel incredibly guilty about it. He's failed as a boyfriend (and knowing him, he'll twist it around as failing as a father too) and the box will break again.
The next few episode titles even lean into the guilt of it all. Ghost of a Second Chance, Step Nine, even Unfinished Business is ominous enough to suggest the storyline is involved there too.
With the writers for 7x08 being Juan Carlos Coto and Bradley Marques, and Coto being who wrote the breakdown, I wouldn't be surprised in the very least if something happened that episode. It doesn't need to be a breakdown again, but it can be this cathartic experience where Eddie finally lets go of the guilt he's been carrying for decades.
The title for 7x08 has been on my mind since we found out about it. Step Nine in AA is about making amends, no matter what. It's going to be a Bobby centric episode, no doubt, but Juan Carlos Coto usually writes episodes that are big for both Bobby and buddie (2x06, 3x09, 4x05, 5x13, 5x16, 6x10 to name just a few). Add in the fact Bradley Marques is writing it with him, the guy who's only done episode 100 so far, is... Interesting!
Bobby is likely making amends with Amir. Eddie has to make amends with himself. If we get a realization or a coming out that episode? I will pass out.
They're setting it up to be a brilliant queer storyline for Eddie. I would HATE for it to be tainted by drugs and a lack of consent and another cheating storyline.
And if they don't go the drug route (yay!), then an almost between Buck and Eddie would most likely be enough to make Eddie feel guilty about it and then have to face it and realize he has nothing to feel guilty about at all. Nothing happened. He just realized he wants it to happen, and for a moment it felt like Buck did too. It would push him to either hide with Marisol or drop her and be free. And since he's grown and recognized that he moved too fast asking her to move in, it's possible he breaks up with her instead of becoming more serious.

That '90s Fic
Eddie Munson x Steve Harrington
Summary: Eight years after defeating Vecna, the Hawkins crew has done their best to forget their past (and the ones they lost along the way). You can only imagine Steve's surprise when he runs into a very-alive Eddie at a coffee shop. (Ao3 link here)
Word Count: 5.5K
Warnings: Fluffy shit as always, canon universe, first kiss, Steddie reunites and eventually gets together, it takes way too damn long because they're idiots, angst, implied sex, also mentions of the rest of the characters!
A/N: This fic is for @detachedfacade and I wrote it for the Steddie Valentine's fic exchange!! Enjoyyyy
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The year was 1993. Steve Harrington and Robin Buckley had remained best friends and followed each other from shitty apartment to shitty apartment. They’d skipped town pretty much the moment she’d graduated, once they knew the rest of their loved ones were safe from the absolute hell they once called their home - Hawkins, Indiana.
After that final battle, everyone pretty much scattered, and while they would always feel connected from the experiences they’d shared in the upside down, they didn’t keep in touch nearly as much as they’d used to. It was one of those things where, if any of them were to call another, they would be there. But everybody had moved on from their lives. They didn’t want to be a slave to their trauma anymore.
It had been eight years since they’d defeated Vecna. Once they’d gotten through the 80’s, they started to settle back into normalcy. Robin and Steve stuck together, but they rarely talked about their past - it was no longer relevant.
The two of them were out of town for a week, taking a trip to a big city and draining their bank account to have a little fun for once. It was, more or less, a yearly tradition. This year, they’d chosen Philadelphia, mostly because there was a concert there that they wanted to go to.
Their first full day, they didn’t have much planned other than to scope out fun things to do that were near their motel. Robin slept in, as always, but Steve was up, so he decided to go for a walk (he left a note for Robin so she knew he was okay). He found this cute cafe a block away from where they were staying, and decided he could use a bit of a caffeine boost, so he went in.
It’s funny how such a mundane morning can turn into something extraordinary.
“Thanks, doll. Have a good one,” a voice said from beside him in line. Steve looked up to see a person he hadn’t thought about in years, not since -
No. That would be crazy. There’s absolutely no way Steve was seeing this right. The man in front of him just looked so incredibly familiar, like an old friend, but that’s all. A doppelganger.
He was wearing black jeans with a black t-shirt tucked into it, a belt holding the ensemble together. His long hair was tied in a ponytail at the back of his neck, a guitar pick necklace hanging against his chest.
He was the spitting image of Eddie Munson. It was freaky.
Steve ordered his coffee and tried his best to shake off the fact that he’d basically just seen a ghost. He averted his gaze and tried to convince himself that he was somehow still high from the night before. That was a thing that could happen sometimes, right?
As they waited for their coffees side by side, Steve decided he had to ask.
“Hey, you look really familiar,” he began. “Do we know each other?” The man chuckled, amused, then put the back of his hand to his forehead and dramatically stumbled backwards, as if he was fainting. Steve reached out to catch him (as if that wouldn’t have taken them both down), but then Eddie stood up straight again, completely unharmed.
“Steeeve Harrington, how you break my heart.” No fucking way. “You don’t remember me?”
“Oh, I remember you,” Steve replied. “But you - I mean we - and then -”
“Yeah,” he nodded. “I know.”
“How?!”
“Magic,” Eddie said, wiggling his fingers around his face. “Just kidding, nothing too exciting. Some government people found me, had a quick coma, blah blah blah, started a new life in a new town because I would have been sent to the electric chair if I stayed in Hawkins, by the time they found out I was innocent I’d already settled into my new life, and uh, yeah. That’s about it.”
Steve stared at Eddie, wide-eyed. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing. I’m dreaming. I’m high. I’m high AND I’m dreaming.
“Black coffee for Ron,” the barista said. To Steve’s surprise, Eddie reached over to pick up the cup.
“I’m sorry, Ron?!” Eddie laughed, then lowered his voice.
“They told me to pick a new name,” he whispered, his lips dangerously close to Steve’s ear. “I was twenty, and obsessed with Dio. Thought it would be cute to choose Ronnie and pay tribute to the lead singer. I hate it, but I’m too damn lazy to go through the trouble of changing it again.”
“Oat milk latte for Steve,” the barista called again. Steve grabbed his coffee, then turned back to Eddie.
“Okay, so this is obviously all insane, but Ron? Really? There’s no way you could pass for a guy named Ron,” he teased.
“Oh, but Steve, I’ve been doing it for years now,” he replied playfully. “So, are we gonna catch up over coffee or what?”
-
Eight years since Steve had left Eddie in the upside down. He was dead. He was absolutely, 100% no longer living, his injuries far too serious to fix with the limited first aid they had access to - aka pieces of fabric torn from their own backs. Things had been so complicated then - the extent of Eddie’s interactions with Steve were done while they were highly stressed, traumatized, and managing the upcoming apocalypse. Even so, their friendship (if you could call it that), was cut short, and Steve refused to think about those few days together since then. He’d successfully managed to shove it down deep inside. It barely hurt anymore.
Now, it was brought to the forefront of his attention again. Eddie looked happy and healthy, which was great, but still - how the fuck had he been alive this whole time and nobody knew? Steve thought about asking, but it wasn’t his business, not really. Plus, he had to get a new name and everything, so he likely wasn’t able to reach out. And they weren’t even that close in the first place. And, Steve had tried to forget about it all, so he couldn’t judge Eddie for doing the same. Jesus.
“Steve, you look like you’ve seen a ghost, man.” Eddie smirked as he sipped his coffee. “Relax.”
“Relax?” Steve raised his eyebrows. “You’re not the one who just found out their friend who they’ve been grieving for years never actually died.”
“Friend?” Eddie cocked his eyebrow and grinned devilishly, as if he was mocking Steve’s words.
“I don’t know what else we’d call it.”
“I usually go with ‘unlikely companion against the forces of evil,’ personally,” Eddie replied.
“Usually, huh? So you talk about me a lot then?” Steve drank his latte and tried to focus on the sweet taste to combat his angst. It all felt like a dream, but somehow a stupid oat milk latte grounded him back to reality.
“I mean, not a lot,” Eddie clarified. “I can’t really disclose the full story or anything, but I do talk about the popular jock from my hometown who ended up being a lot cooler than he had any right to be. And Wheeler? Who the hell knew, am I right? And - oh, Robin!” Eddie waved towards the door, where Robin burst in. Steve had called her about ten minutes prior telling her the news. Her hair was a mess, and she was still in her pajamas.
“Holy shit,” she said as she ran frantically towards the table. “You’re real.” She pinched Eddie’s arm to make sure, causing him to laugh.
“In theory,” he responded. Steve pulled up a chair next to him and gestured for Robin to sit. She did so, moving on autopilot, her eyes still fixed to Eddie.
“You didn’t have to rush, Robbie,” Steve said, using his thumb to clean a bit of toothpaste off the corner of her mouth. She was unfazed by his touch.
“Of course I did, Steve. What the hell?”
“I didn’t know you guys were still -” Eddie hesitated. “- Still in touch. Friends. Or are you guys, like…?” Robin cackled.
“Noooo, no, no, no,” she said.
“Okay, let’s not be mean about it,” Steve huffed.
“Sorry Stevie, you know I love you.” She turned back to Eddie. “I’m a lesbian. Steve was actually the only one I was out to in high school.”
“No shit,” Eddie said, leaning until his elbows were on the table. “Ohhhh, that explains so much.”
“Does it?” she asked, confused.
“Well, just because you guys obviously were close, but insisted upon being just friends, which usually means you’re not just friends,” Eddie explained. “I don’t know, I was kind of thrust into a lot of shit back then without any context. Mostly I was just trying not to die, and then, well - I mean, you get it.”
“Oof,” Robin winced.
“You guys, it’s fine.” Eddie laughed again, then leaned back in his chair. “Water under the upside down bridge, am I right?” Robin and Steve grimaced. “What?”
“We don’t really talk about that time of our lives anymore,” Robin shrugged. “All of us just tried to leave it all behind.”
“Yeah,” Steve agreed. “It’s great to see you again, I think, and I’m glad you’re okay and all, it’s just -”
“Weird,” Robin finished his sentence. “Not in a bad way, just in a way where we might need a moment to act semi-normal.”
“Ugh, normal?” Eddie groaned. “I didn’t like you guys so much because you were normal. I liked you because you were batshit crazy.” He chuckled at the double meaning of his words. “Ha ha, bat-shit. Those things were nasty. I can’t believe you took a straight-up bite out of one, dude.”
“Jesus Christ, I forgot about that.” Steve put his head in his hands before running them through his hair. “This is crazy. So crazy.”
“Sorry,” Eddie said with a shrug. “You know, you’re the first people I’ve been able to talk about this with. I didn’t think I’d ever seen any of you again, but here we are.”
“Are you even supposed to be talking about it?” Steve asked.
“I dunno, maybe not. But it’s been long enough. No trouble in Hawkins since, right?”
“Nope,” Robin confirmed.
“Not that we’ve been back,” Steve added.
“No? What about the others? Dustin?” Steve smiled, remembering that Eddie and Dustin had their own brotherly thing going on.
“He’s good. Everyone’s okay,” Steve smiled. “Dustin and I still talk sometimes. I’m sure he’d love to hear from you actually, if you wanted. I mean, he was really shaken up over your ‘death’ and all.” Steve used quotations when he talked about Eddie’s death now. Insanity.
“Yeah, for sure,” Eddie agreed. “Steve, man. It’s genuinely so good to see you. I’ve wondered a lot about what happened to the King of Hawkins High.”
“Really? I guess I didn’t realize I left such an impression,” Steve said with surprise. It had been a while since he’d been reminded of his King Steve days. Eddie chuckled again, rolling up his sleeves absentmindedly as he continued talking.
“Oh my god, Harrington, I wanted you so bad back then. I didn’t realize it until shit went down, but yeah. I thought I was making it really obvious.” Steve’s eyes widened.
“Oh,” he said. “Well, um, I mean -”
“You were,” Robin interjected. “And you were totally jealous of him and Nancy, which is hilarious because -”
“Robin!” Steve groaned. “Anyway, yeah. There was that, and the whole ‘big boy’ thing.”
“Really? Eight years later and that’s still fresh in your mind, huh?”
“He used to talk about it every time he got drunk,” Robin laughed.
“I will kill you,” Steve threatened. “Fine, yeah, whatever. You helped me realize I like guys. I owe it all to you - the big man himself - Ron.” Eddie practically snorted at the way Steve said his fake name.
“God, it’s so bad,” he agreed. “But Ron has been good to me. Things are good.” They all smiled, realizing things had somehow all turned out okay. Normal, in their own messed up way. “So! How long are you guys in town?”
-
The three of them hung out in Philadelphia a few more times that week, catching up and getting friendlier with every passing moment. Steve started to relax around Eddie, something he never had the chance to do before. Eddie was touchy, and called Steve things like babe and sweetie and once, Big Boy for old time’s sake.
But the week was coming to an end, and the Dynamic Duo was scheduled to return home the following morning. They decided to go out one last time, and made sure to exchange numbers to stay in contact. Steve promised he’d reach out to Dustin and break the news, but he wasn’t sure when he’d see Dustin again.
Robin went home first, insisting that she get her beauty sleep before their flight. This left Eddie and Steve alone at the bar, where they continued to chat until eventually, Steve decided he needed to get home, too.
He didn’t really want to go, at all. He didn’t want to say goodbye to Eddie. Reconnecting with him had genuinely been great, weird as it was. Plus, he couldn’t stop thinking about what Eddie had told him in that cafe. Harrington, I wanted you so bad back then. Enough time had passed where Steve wasn’t sure that statement still applied, or if he even wanted it to. The whole week had been a whirlwind of the past becoming present, the lost being found, the gone returning.
Eddie walked Steve home, and it was too short. Eight years ago, when their budding friendship(?) was cut short, Steve didn’t know the extent of his sexuality, or understand the feelings he was having. But he knew then, with Eddie at his door, and he decided to be bold.
“Ya know,” Eddie said, “usually when I walk a guy home like this, I kiss him goodnight.” He had said it so casually, in the same joking manner he’d done everything else. He said it in a way where, if Steve hadn’t been into it, he could just as easily say he was kidding and move on. Steve knew it well, and he wasn’t going to take it this time.
“Okay, so kiss me then.”
“What?” His eyes went wide in shock. Steve smirked at the way he was finally able to catch Eddie off guard.
“You heard me. Come on, I dareeee youuuu.” Steve had quite a few drinks at the bar, a deadly combination for a guy who was already pretty confident in the flirting department.
“Where the hell is this coming from?” Eddie asked, still unsure. He couldn’t believe what Steve was saying. Even though Steve had said Eddie was his bisexual awakening, that had been ages ago. Eddie never in a million years thought he had a shot with Steve in actuality.
“I knew it, I knew you wouldn’t do it.” Steve gently pushed against Eddie’s chest, then leaned against his door. “All those flirty glances and the pet names and talking about how you used to have a crush on me when-“
And then Eddie was kissing him.
It was awkward for a split second, as Eddie had all but smashed his lips against Steve’s, but they quickly melted into each other, reaching an unspoken groove.
It was nice. So incredibly nice. Eddie was warm and inviting and sensual, his hands explorative and firm around Steve’s body.
As they broke away from each other, Steve pouted at the thought of never finding out what kissing Eddie while sober would be like - it’s just that they were about to be separated by a few hundred miles, so the possibility seemed unlikely.
“Just as good as I thought it would be,” Eddie grinned as he let go of Steve’s waist. “Now you have a new thing to talk about when you get drunk, Harrrington.”
That he would, Eddie. That he would.
-
So, Steve and Robin returned home, still somewhat unconvinced they hadn’t had some sort of mutual acid trip and hallucinated the whole thing. He told her about the kiss, which she was entirely unsurprised by, and asked if he’d call once they got home.
Steve wasn’t sure. After all, he’d left that whole life behind, and he wasn’t interested in anything long distance. It felt weird to return to a life he so deliberately ran away from. He’d spent so long shoving away those memories, but they were back, and they were back with a vengeance.
And now, there were new memories too - the ones of them in Philadelphia, catching up under new circumstances, haunted by the old ones.
He didn’t end up calling Eddie, in fear of it getting even more complicated, and eventually the events of their week in Philly became a dream-like visit to the land of what-ifs.
-
In 1994, Dustin came to visit. It had been the longest Steve and Robin had ever stayed in the same apartment. In fact, not much had changed at all in the last year - Except that Robin started going to grad school, and Steve was promoted at work, which worked out well considering Robin’s income dropped when switching to part-time.
Robin was engaged - she’d been dating the same person for years now, and it had been long overdue. They were happy together, but waiting to get married until Robin finished school. Well, they wouldn’t be legally married, thanks to the government being homophobic, but they wanted to celebrate with their friends and family nonetheless.
Steve had also begun dating a woman from Robin’s class. She was kind and quiet, and it had been going well for a month or two already.
Catching up with Dustin was always a whirlwind, because they didn’t do it nearly enough. He spoke quickly and without abandoning, covering so many topics in such a short amount of time that Steve could hardly keep up. Robin, on the other hand, followed beautifully, and filled in Steve whenever he got confused.
“So I was telling the head of DETRA,” Dustin said. Steve turned to Robin.
“His company,” she muttered. Steve nodded.
“And he basically said that Justin was going to get the promotion, even though I was the one who came up with, developed, and perfected the prototype for G-TER.”
“The robot,” Robin clarified, quiet enough only for Steve to hear.
“Oh, right,” Steve said in recognition. “The thing you’ve been working on for like a year now?”
“That’s the one,” Dustin confirmed.
It went on like this as he continued to talk about engineering and robotics, things that went way over Steve’s head, but he listened the best he could anyway. Once he was done updating them on his first official post-college job, he asked them what they’d been up to.
“School,” Robin answered.
“Work,” Steve added. “And Diana, who I’ve told you about.”
“Still going good?” Dustin asked. Steve nodded. “Sweet. How’d the trip to Philly go?”
Steve and Robin froze, glancing at each other nervously. Once again, it was something they had pushed deep down into oblivion, in fear of opening the can of worms yet again. They hadn’t talked about it since the plane ride home.
“So fun,” Robin responded at last.
“Concert was great,” Steve added.
“You guys are so comically bad at lying,” Dustin said with a roll of his eyes. “What happened?” They paused, knowing the upcoming conversation was a big bomb to drop.
“It’s…serious,” Steve began. “Has to do with Hawkins stuff.” Dustin’s face dropped into sincerity, understanding the weight of the situation.
“Is everything okay? Do we have to go back?”
“Everyone is fine,” Robin blurted out. “Everyone.” She stressed the word as if that would be enough to break the news. When Dustin was still confused, Steve decided to just go for it.
“Eddie Munson is alive, Dustin.”
“What?!”
“It’s true,” Robin said. “He lives in Philadelphia under a different name now.”
“But how??”
They continued to explain the situation, going over the story that Eddie had told them, and the time they’d spent together. They left out the kiss, of course, but that wasn’t relevant.
Dustin processed the news slowly, before running to his computer and urgently looking something up.
“What are you doing?” Steve asked.
“I’m gonna go to Philadelphia,” he answered. As Steve peered over, he noticed Dustin looking at flights.
“Woah, seriously?” Steve asked, shocked. “Don’t you want to call him first?”
“Well, yeah, duh,” Dustin said. “We call him, then we go. Or, I go. I mean, if you can’t.” He sighed, putting his phone down. “You knew about this for a year and didn’t tell me?”
Robin and Steve felt the weight of their secret. They’d been protecting themselves, or so they thought.
“I’m sorry, man,” Steve apologized. “We didn’t wanna -”
“It’s whatever. Just call him.”
-
Even though Robin and Steve hadn’t planned their annual getaway yet, it was far too short-notice to go with Dustin. It did, however, mean that his visit with them was cut off after only a day, and that kinda sucked. They really tried to make it work, but between Steve’s job and Robin’s classes, there was no way they could join in on the action.
So, Steve called Eddie
“Steve Harrington,” he greeted as always.
“Edd- I mean, Ron,” Steve replied. Eddie chuckled.
“I didn’t think you’d ever call me. It’s been what, a year?” Steve grimaced at the realization.
“I’m sorry, I just -”
“It’s cool. What’s up, man?”
And so, Steve told him what was up. Eddie was thrilled at the prospect of seeing Dustin again, and together they arranged a place to meet up. Eddie also gave Steve his address to give to Dustin, although Steve couldn’t help but wonder if he had ulterior motives.
No, Steve. Don’t do that, he thought to himself. You closed that book, and you’re with Diana now.
It was probably for the best Steve couldn’t go, honestly. Because the moment he heard Eddie’s voice, he realized he was an idiot for not calling the moment he got home.
-
By 1995, Robin had moved out to live with her fiance. They’d even set a wedding date for the following year. Steve was still dating Diana, and things were good there, but he had no plans for proposing just yet. He felt as though he needed to live with her first to see for sure how compatible they’d be, so she joined his lease once hers ended - her name replacing Robin’s.
Steve had a business trip in Philadelphia. He considered visiting Eddie, but thought better of it.
They ran into each other anyway at the grocery store.
“Well, if it isn’t the heartbreaker himself?” Eddie teased. Steve froze, feeling immediate guilt and panic.
“E - I mean, Ron!” Steve said, as he always did.
“You know, I finally legally changed my name back, so you can stop doing that.”
“Oh,” Steve said. “Okay.”
“I’m not mad at you, Steve,” Eddie assured him.
“Why would you be?” Steve asked, as casually as possible. Eddie opened his mouth, but before he could explain the very valid reason he’d be upset, Steve continued. “Don’t answer that. I’m sorry. I’m still sorry.”
“It is what it is,” Eddie said nonchalantly. He genuinely seemed unbothered. “So, what brings you back?”
“Work,” Steve answered. “I’m only here for the weekend this time.”
“Would you want to grab a drink, then?” Eddie asked. Steve swallowed.
“I - I shouldn’t.” Eddie seemed confused for a moment, then lit up in understanding.
“Ah, I see,” he said with a smirk. “You’re still with the lady.”
“You know about her?”
“‘Course. Dustin told me about it when he was here.”
“Oh,” Steve said, unsure how he felt about that. “How’d that go for you guys, by the way?”
“It was great,” Eddie answered. “You don’t even want to go out in a completely platonic, friend way?”
Admitting that being just friends with Eddie seemed impossible felt worse than it did to go and inevitably act weird and closed off. In any case, Steve agreed to one drink.
-
Three drinks later, he felt relaxed again, and almost forgot why he was so nervous about this in the first place. Like, he and Eddie didn’t know each other that well, and they lived in different states, and they’d kissed one time. That was it. It was practically nothing other than them both being queer, flirtatious, and enjoying each other’s company.
“I’d really like to be friends,” Eddie had said at the end of the night.
“I think I’d like that, too,” Steve agreed.
He went back home, relieved that the guilt he felt was no longer relevant.
-
Eddie and Steve were friends in the sense that they occasionally called each other to talk about new movies, or to rave about the amazing things Dustin was doing, and eventually, they talked about Robin’s wedding.
Robin had decided to invite Eddie after he and Steve became friendly in a genuine way. She tended to have a sense for these things, and they really did just seem like good friends.
She was wrong.
Diana worked overnights, and Steve would end up on the phone until well past midnight talking to Eddie. It was a gradual change from the conversations they’d had before, but an important one. Eddie was giddy at the thought of being reunited with the Hawkins gang - they joked that Steve shouldn’t tell anyone so Eddie could surprise them, but ultimately decided they could never stir up that much drama on Robin’s wedding day.
“Maybe during the rehearsal dinner,” Eddie suggested.
“Yeah, maybe,” Steve replied.
Steve broke up with Diana a few months before the wedding, where she was supposed to be his plus one. It was a clean break, or as clean as it could have possibly been. Steve just knew that if they went to the wedding together, she’d think about the possibility of marrying him, and he knew she wasn’t the one he wanted to spend his life with.
He had an inkling he knew someone he would marry. Well, if marriage between them had been legal, anyway.
He didn’t tell Eddie about his change in relationship status, though. Even when they still talked late into the night, when Steve had to wake up early the next morning. He didn’t tell him, because he still lived so far away, and he didn’t want to ruin something so perfect.
-
Robin’s wedding was in the Spring of 1996. Steve was going stag, as he’d decided when Robin asked whether she should eliminate a place setting or invite someone else. He could have found another date to replace Diana, but he didn’t want to.
It was the first time he was going to see Eddie since they’d gotten a drink a year prior, which would have been exciting enough - it was just that Steve was single now. And if Eddie was too, and if he was still interested, there was no way Steve was going to miss out yet again.
It didn’t matter that they lived far away from each other, or that they’d spent very little time together in the same physical space - Steve knew there was something there. He knew it.
Steve was, of course, in the bridal party. In fact, he was technically Maid of Honor, although the role wasn’t really defined that clearly because Robin didn’t want to follow any of the normal traditions. She really just wanted Steve as her best friend and right-hand man. His tasks mainly included making sure she didn’t fall over, and handing her various fidget toys when she got antsy.
The rehearsal dinner was the night before the ceremony, and was mainly just close family and friends. It was the first time the entire Hawkins gang reunited in ten years.
Hopper and Joyce were happily married. The kids were now 24 and figuring their lives out. Dustin was already rich, and everyone else was financially okay as well due to El having rigged a lottery one time to split the reward (Mike’s idea - but it worked out pretty well).
It was so nice to see everyone again under non-apocalypse circumstances. Everybody seemed happy in their respective lives, and catching up seemed entirely normal.
Eddie showed up late - he had told everyone in advance he would, so it wasn’t rude or anything, but it did mean that they were already sitting down and deep into conversation when he snuck in and sat down beside Steve - the last empty seat.
(Which was pretty much exactly what Steve hoped would happen)
They waved to each other and smiled, and then the conversation resumed as normal. They ate, they drank, they laughed, and then the group split - half of them going home, the other half going out.
-
“Where’s Diana?” Eddie asked at the bar while sipping his beer. “Is she sick or something?” Steve froze, realizing the time had come to break the news.
“Uh, no, she’s not sick.” Eddie looked at him curiously, having no idea where this was going. “We broke up a few months ago.”
“What?!” Eddie asked, a thousand emotions in his voice. He was confused, concerned, and a little upset. “Why didn’t you tell me? I talk to you all the time!”
“I don’t know!” Steve responded, shrugging. “I don’t know why I didn’t, I just -”
“Wait, before we go there. Are you okay?”
Steve was taken aback by the question. He was okay, but a few months ago? Shit was tough.
“Yeah, I’m okay. It’s what I needed to do,” Steve answered.
“Why?” Eddie’s voice dropped in volume ever so slightly. “I mean, what happened?”
“She just wasn’t -” Steve averted his gaze, as though eye contact was too intimate in the moment. “She wasn’t the one.”
Their conversation was interrupted when Dustin insisted they all play a game. And that was that - at least, that’s what Steve thought.
-
He was getting ready for bed after everyone else had split off to their own hotel rooms. He showered and brushed his teeth, then climbed into bed to watch TV. He wasn’t tired yet, but he hoped the sounds of Friends would lull him to sleep eventually.
Then, there was a knock at the door.
It was late, and as Steve jumped out of bed and walked towards the noise, he worried it was Robin or that something terrible had happened.
Instead, it was Eddie.
“Hey,” Steve greeted him.
“Hey,” Eddie echoed. “Tell me if I’m reading this wrong.”
Eddie knew it was a bold move, showing up like this, assuming that their friendship had transcended into something more. Or, perhaps they were never really just friends.
“Okay,” Steve responded.
And then, Eddie was kissing him again.
Steve shut the door as soon as they’d crossed the threshold into his hotel room. They were alone, single, and clearly into each other. Clothes came off before Steve even had a chance to catch his breath.
Eddie started giggling when they fell to the bed.
“I’ve always wanted to hook up with a Bridesmaid,” he joked. Steve rolled his eyes, but couldn’t stop himself from laughing, too.
“Can we turn the show off?” he asked, distracted by the antics on screen.
“What, Rachel doesn’t do it for you?” Eddie teased. Steve reached over to find the remote, then pressed the off button - leaving them in silence.
“I’m more of a Chandler guy, myself,” Steve replied with a smirk.
“Yeah, that makes sense.”
-
Robin’s wedding was beautiful. Eddie and Steve snuck knowing glances at each other throughout, but made sure not to make it obvious they’d hooked up to avoid stealing any thunder.
Everyone knew pretty much immediately, anyway.
-
It was New Year's Eve, 1999. Eddie and Steve had gotten their own apartment after the wedding, and had been together ever since. Steve insisted they stay in the same town as Robin, and Eddie obliged - there wasn’t much tying him to Philly except that it was where he’d been for a decade, and a little location change seemed like the perfect way to enter the next phase of his life.
“I can’t believe the world is going to end in five minutes,” Steve said sarcastically. Eddie rolled his eyes.
“You don’t really believe that shit, right?”
“Well, the world wouldn’t end,” Robin interjected, “just all the computers in the world might crash, which would be just as not fun.”
“Exactly,” Steve agreed. Robin smiled, then was whisked away by her wife. Steve turned back to Eddie. “You’re not nervous at all?” Eddie shook his head.
“No, not really. We’ve already been through an apocalypse together, you know? And we got through that.”
“Yeah, you’re right,” Steve realized. “So what’s one more?”
“What’s one more?” Eddie agreed, kissing Steve into the new millennium.

Surprise me
I’m having so much fun with these guys!
Will You Still Love Me When I’m a Ghost?
Warnings: Sadness, death, afterlife, ghosts
Tumblr media
“That guy’s staring at you,” your friend spoke.
“Who?” You asked, looking over your shoulder, then the other one.
“Don’t look right at him! Dark, curly hair. Super skinny.”
You found the one she was talking about. He was definitely skinny, skeletal even. His dark curls, twisted chaotically in many different directions. He didn’t even bother moving them out of his face, instead he looked at you through medium length locks which hung in front of a pair of bloodshot eyes that looked like they had been through way more than anyone else in the bar had.
“I’m gonna go say hi,” you said.
“Wait really?”
Your friend was right to be shocked, this was extremely out of character for you. You usually let men come up to you. But there was something about this one that drew you to him. The eyes? Or maybe it was the fact that he looked like he could keel over at any moment.
“You look like death,” you said, walking up the stranger.
He pulled his chapped lips into a smile that demanded one in return.
“Makes sense,” he said, tossing a handful of curls to one side of his face. You could now clearly see his eyes. Hazel. And the dark circles underneath them made their color even more vibrant. “I am dying.”
Your smile faded quickly.
“What?”
“I am dying,” he said again. “My names Tim.”
“Oh. God. I’m so sorry. I didn’t-it was a joke. I-”
“It’s okay,” Tim laughed. “I should have started with ‘my names Tim’ and not the ‘I’m dying’ thing.”
What do you say to that?
“Are you sick? I mean like, how…are you…dying?” You cringed. Fuck.
“Cancer.”
You felt even worse and it must’ve been clear on your face.
“Don’t feel bad for me. Though, part of me thinks you already do.”
“I didn’t feel bad for you. Not initially,” you said.
“Why’d you come up to me?”
“You’re eyes.”
Tim cocked his head, giving you a look that asked for further explanation.
“I dunno,” you said, running a hand through your hair; something you did when you were nervous. Your eyes were glued to the floor as you continued to speak. “I felt like, your eyes told a story I needed to hear. It sounds dumb. I know.”
He was silent for a minute and when you finally looked up, you were greeted with another dry-lipped smile.
“It’s not dumb. Sit?” He asked pushing the chair across from him out with his foot. You pulled your lips in, hiding a nervous smile and sat with him. You silently worked a hangnail on your thumb under the table. “Not dumb,” he said again.
“I’m glad you don’t think so.”
“Wanna know what I thought when I looked at you?”
You forgot that he had been the one staring at you first, and somehow knowing that he was the one that initiated it all made you feel less pathetic. “What?”
He smiled before speaking, breaking the skin between a thin crack in his lips. It bled a little. “I was thinking that you look like a girl I’d like to finish the life I have left with.”
The two of you were inseparable after that. And for the remainder of Tims life, you made him the happiest he could be, probably the happiest he had been in a long time. You loved each other with a force that was unbreakable.
“I’ll love you even after I’m gone,” Tim said the night before he died.
“Don’t talk that way.”
He flashed the same chapped lip smile that made you blush the night you met him at the bar. “You say that as if I didn’t tell you from the second I met you that I was dying.”
“Doesn’t mean I want to talk about it. I don’t like to think about you dying. I love you too much to want to think about living the rest of my miserable existence without you.”
He looked up a the ceiling, contemplating his next words. Or maybe deep in thought. You couldn’t tell these days. He was constantly slipping in and out of obvious consciousness and open-eyed unconsciousness. He shook his head before looking back at you.
“Where’d you go?” You asked.
“I was just thinking.”
You grabbed his hand, giving it an encouraging squeeze.
“I don’t think we ever really leave.” He took a shallow breath. “When I’m a ghost, will you still love me?”
“Of course,” you agreed. You didn’t have the heart to tell him you didn’t believe in ghosts.
You called his phone 20 times a day for weeks after he passed just to hear is voice on his voicemail. You even left him messages. You don’t know why you did it, but it became routine.
Wake up. Call Tim’s phone.
Have coffee. Call Tim’s phone.
Drive to work. Call Tim’s phone.
By the end of each day your call history showed nothing by Tim’s name in red print. It felt ridiculous, calling your dead boyfriends phone, knowing he’d never answer again.
You called a month to the day after his passing, it rang twice before stopping. You heard a click on the other end, as if someone on the other side received your call. Your heart sank as you thought his number had finally been recycled, and now belonged to someone else.
“Hello?” You said into the silence.
There was static, and choppy fumbling.
Then nothing but shallow breathing.
“Tim?” You asked, feeling immediately foolish.
But your heart hammered in your chest as an all too familiar voice responded.
He was echoey, and grainy as if he was speaking to you from far away.
“Do you still love me?”

Ranking my favorite animated dad characters because I can’t sleep
I realized that a lot of my favorite animated characters are dads, so fuck it. Let’s rank them both on their dad-ness and on their character overall.
7. Ansel Beauregard (Arlo the Alligator Boy/I heart Arlo): okay so, as much as I’m kinda hyperfocusing on this guy rn, he kinda HAS to get the lowest rank ‘cause like… he literally abandoned his gator baby in the sewer. Honestly the fact that he’s able to be likable at all is a damn miracle, but the movie and show pull it off surprisingly well.
Basically from the moment he finally accepts Arlo into his life, he’s trying his best to make amends - though admittedly he still doesn’t always go about it the best way, lol. Growing up bullied then isolated and then becoming crazy rich at a young age has definitely made him more than a little oblivious, out of touch and self-centered (though these parts of his personality are still funny/endearing instead of being annoying imo) but he still genuinely cares (even when he was unwilling to face his truth, he still gave Arlo advice that he at least thought was in Arlo’s best interest based on what worked for him) and I really do love the interactions he has with Arlo. I also love the whole bird-man aspect of him both as a character design and fun quirk, and his VA work and singing is also phenomenal. (Seriously, I’ve been listening to “Better Life” multiple times per day, someone pls I need help asdfghjkl)
6. Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz (Phineas & Ferb): So, back when I was a kid, Doof was definitely my favorite character, and while I’ve kiiiiiinda grown out of him in some aspects (his over-exposure in things like MML didn’t exactly help), I can still enjoy him for being a really funny and really enjoyable character.
Can he sometimes be annoying, slightly obnoxious and take up too much screentime in the latter seasons? Sure, totally. But like- I’m never gonna NOT love the ‘evil villain who has a huge soft spot for their child’ trope, it’s a classic for a reason. Doof is a dork and can be overbearing, but he’s also really sweet and will do anything for his daughter, including get himself stung by dozens of bees. It also can’t be denied just how many of his lines and moments can still get laughs out of me even after all these years. We Stan a petty ADHD-king and (not-so-)evil scientist dad.
5. Hamato Yoshi/Lou Jitsu/Splinter (ROTTMNT): oh hey, another dad with trauma - only instead of being bullied and forced to hide himself or having a nonsensical tragic backstory, he had to deal with generational trauma, being forced into fighting/killing for sport, and finally getting mutated which led to years of on/off depression. …yeahhhhh.
This is another character I really admire for just how well they’re written, even if he wasn’t always the best dad (though for the record, he wasn’t nearly as neglectful as some fans want to claim…) I think most Rise fans would agree that Splinter absolutely has the best arc in the series, going from a strictly comedy relief couch potato to a loving father/tragic figure who manages to rise above everything for the sake of his kids. He’s willing to let the world burn for the sake of his sons and I respect the hell out of him for it regardless of whether or not it’s the ‘moral’ choice. But he’s also still really funny and really cool when he wants to be, and for as much as I’ve drifted away from Rise, Splinter and his story is still one of the few aspects I adore and appreciate about this show.
4. Pete McGee (The Ghost and Molly McGee): Pete is just a super endearing character to me even if he arguably has the least going on of all the TGAMM characters. He’s a very typical goofy sitcom dad both in terms of design (which, ngl… Pete is kinda really cute? Am I the only one who sees it?) and attitude, usually only being used for comedy while Sharon is the one who gets to be the slightly more serious one and have the heart-to-hearts with/give advice to Molly.
But that’s fine because even if he’s not the deepest dad on this list, he’s still incredibly endearing imo. He’s a 100% Wife Guy, he struggles to stand up for himself but still always tries to stand up for his family, he inspired Molly to be heavily interested in community service, and he’s a dancer! Which is just a really fun quirk, hence why I really love both the Ice Princess episode and the Dance Dad episode (asdfghjkl I remember when Tess and I were watching the latter, she was cringing at all the TikTok dances while I was sitting next to her enjoying the song and just being like yeahhhhh get it Pete! Lol). While I do wish we could have gotten a bit of deeper character stuff with Pete, he’s still pretty solid and very enjoyable to watch.
3. Bob Belcher (Bob’s Burgers): we love our autistic Burger King babeyyyyy! Seriously though, while I’ve grown to love all the Belchers, there’s definitely a reason why I gravitated towards Bob first. He’s a mess of a guy who’s just trying his best to deal with all the chaos that life and his family throw at him, and we love him for it.
I love that even while being the most grounded character in the show, he’s not afraid of being a little unhinged and just fucking going off on someone or something. He’s also often the one who’s always trying to help others, even when it’s usually by accident given how much of an introvert he is. He loves his wife, his kids and his burgers with all his heart, and even when he’s at his worst (which is a rarity), you still are rooting for the best for him and want everything to work out. His heart-to-hearts with his kids (and with other characters) really are some of my favorite moments from the show. Furthermore, much like literally all the other characters on this list, his VA’s delivery just adds SO much to his character as well. I really do just love H. Jon Benjamin, he’s so hilarious and needs to voice more characters.
2. Rodolfo Rivera/White Pantera (El Tigre): Ah yes, my first favorite animated dad character, even before Doof. As such, I’m always gonna have a soft spot for this guy. Like I’ve said before, I love how he’s able to be both a goofy and super soft-hearted character but can also be a total badass at times, sometimes without even trying.
He just wants to protect his city and help his son grow up right, and I love him for it! He’s easily one of the funniest characters in the show, but I appreciate that he’s allowed to still be cool and still have a win occasionally. He also manages to be stern without ever becoming unlikable or unreasonable, given that he’ll still always be there for his son and father even when they’re doing things he doesn’t approve of, and I think it’s that overall balance that really endeared me to him, plus his great design+voice (if I had a nickel for every time I gravitated to an Eric Bauza-voiced dad, I’d have two-). His little catchphrase quirks like “okay be good!” and saying Manny’s full name live in my head rent-free, ngl.
1. Bill Green (Big City Greens) let me make this clear… I! LOVE! BILL! GREEN! He’s just… SO great. He’s wholesome, he’s funny and goofy, he’s sweet, he’s a loving father, he’s stern but still reasonable, he’s a hard worker, he’s super relatable, he’s a secret badass, he’s a huge dork, he sings about his truck and is super attached to his wood carvings - he really is just everything and I mean that in the best possible way.
While Cricket and Tilly are obviously the stars of the show, I really do love how much energy the show puts into making Bill this incredibly well-rounded and likable character who you just can’t help but sympathize with and root for when it comes to his farm stuff. I can’t say that he’s perfect, he’s definitely made a couple pretty poor decisions here and there, but overall I think he’s everything I want out of a great animated dad character (probably because he honestly reminds me a lot of my own dad - or at least, the positive parts of my dad). He’s not the only thing I love about BCG, far from it, but he’s definitely one of my biggest favorite things about it.
BONUS HONORABLE MENTION DADS:
- Vasquez (BCG): bodyguards/surrogate dads absolutely count. So happy that Vasquez has become much more prominent and fleshed-out as the show’s gone on, he’s just so great. Thank you Danny Trejo for voicing him, can’t wait for that s4 ep where Vasquez apparently goes to therapy
- Lego Batman (Lego Batman Movie): ah yes, the kick-starter to the Batman/Bat-fam phase I had in college. Fits right alongside characters like Ansel and Splinter for being obviously flawed dads (bro literally called his new son ‘expendable’ wtf Bruce) who still care a lot/grow to become better people over time through the influence of their kid. Will Arnett is still absolutely hilarious as this character, I love how he immediately goes into dad-mode when Robin gets slammed into the windshield, and that bit at the end where he finally tells Robin the truth about his ‘dads’ still gets me a bit teary-eyed
- Wild Knuckles (The Rise of Gru): technically a grand-dad but whatever. Like I said, I love my villains with a soft-side for their kid, and it makes me sad that the Rise of Gru fandom essentially ignored this guy in favor of hot young Dr. Nefario. Like- I don’t care if the arc between him and baby Gru was somewhat rushed, dude literally got himself burned alive by a huge dragon for his surrogate grandkid, he deserves better
If you’ve made it this far, let me know if you like any of these dad characters + what your favorites are ^v^

so right a couple of my film friends and i met last night to do wine and glee and i left and tried to catch a bus in our gross rainy cold weather and so when it finally comes im just like zoo wee mama my glasses r fogging up and all that shit. but who of course is on the bus but my one friend the main perpetrator of acting like im some flaky cunt (rant city below)
so i guess technically this wouldnt look great on my part bc i was obviously Somewhere and had been ignoring the group chat making plans but oh my GOD whatever who careessssss who Cares. so im like fucking phenomenal ok walk back Omg hi and she moves her shit so i can sit and i get settled and am like hey. and she asks what i was up to and ofc when i say anything bc this is fucking awkward shes just got this stupid smug little smile but i was just sitting there like bitch im not gonna sit here and act embarrassed for seeing my other friends so i was just like So are u guys doing x tn and shes like mhm yep are you coming and i was like well gee i dont know. sarcastic shrug. make conversation about the timing of the place for a second kinda jokin then awk silence
and so then because im a chill normal adult and am aware that shes about to go meet the group of friends and no matter what this interaction is going to be brought up and i had been planning on composing a levelheaded text but i just said Look im sorry that i ghosted you guys (and shes again smug smiling nodding next to me. girl.) i just honestly got tired of feeling like im being singled out and judged when i cant make it to something and she literally is just like Well im sorry you feel that way just u know we do try to come up w different days etc (if u like me are bad at reading between the lines this was a non apology and defense based on uh Nothing) and i was like right well ik last semester wasnt great it's just that sometimes i feel like im being shunned in the group chats when no one answers or reacts to anything i say and the other day when you said like. yk the 'could u commit' thing that felt really sort of condescending
and shes like again well im sorry u felt that way i was just trying to find another day that u could actually make it cause i wanted us all to be there so im not really sure how that came across as condescending but um yeah. and i, jackass that i am (<3) pulled out my phone and pointed and said Well u see we didnt have actual plans and in fact no one answered when i said anything abt it and yk things come up and so for me to have sent this whole nice thing and just get 'do you think youd be able to commit' in response felt a little bit needlessly mean (and i also tried to earnestly say at some point in all this that i genuinely do love and care for them and want to see them but yk this Sucks and was just bad timing)
THEN we somehow spin into her going Well i just had no idea this was even a thing until you brought it up just now i mean i wasnt even thinking abt it ive never really thought that of you etc and so then im sitting here feeling like im being gaslit in real time not to be dramatic and i felt very much like when i was in high school and people manipulated me bc i was a very easy target (its not that real but w/e) and so im like Ok be calm but dont just like let that slide cause girl be serious (prob should have but what ever) so i was like well you know i do apologize if i just couldnt tell your intent over text, but after you guys never answered me about hanging out and then the short responses like maybe u can kind of see where i felt like you were being rude (didnt say it quite that bluntly w/e)
and she pulls out the big card. the. well i just think youre being defensive. oh years and years of being the youngest and punished for um having feelings lmfao slammed me in my chest at that moment. and i calmly said Okay cool i think youre being defensive. and i lit missed my bus stop cause this driver was swerving so then i was just like Well you guys have fun maybe ill see you tonight bye. so. really feeling awesome abt the state of that. in all reality tho it's like i hung out w some friends and then went out to the gay bar w others and danced and etc and i can only imagine how much of a Thing this was for them so. if someone could win it'd be me right
(on another note at some point during this ride sams roommate requested to follow me back <3 which i had been pretending not to think abt for the last couple hours) anyway
this has been a post let me know if im being normalish

15 & maybe 22 & maybe 39 ♡ or just 39 if you're only doing one HEHEHEHEHEHEHEHEHE
OK I WANTED TO DO 39. but its already long as is…. so when i get home later ill type out 39 for u :3
15 and 22. for u *hold them out like flowers*
15: wrist
loud chattering and fancy silverware clanked against each other, music that vibrated inside your stomach blasting from the front of the large dining hall. people were either up and dancing or sitting at tables dressed in white linen, having the time of their lives at the party.
the matsuno family got invited by family friends to an annual party. to say they were all estatic to dress up and attend was an understatement. plus, free food!
some of the brothers had brought guests along with them. karamatsu brought chibita, who offered to co-cater for the event, and todomatsu had ran off somewhere with atsushi and others. others like totoko and hatabou had even shown up, being acquainted with the family hosting the party.
choromatsu had brought a guest, too! what he didn’t expect wasn’t the fact that they had accepted his invite, no not at all…
but he was feeling horrible about what was happening now.
ghost, seated next to him a table a distance away from everyone else, had their chin on the table, arms draped over their head with an irritated look on their face. they should be having a fun night together, dancing in dark green and crimson suits, laughing and loving one another.
had he been more aware of the party being overstimulating, he would’ve asked if they didn’t want to go, or accommodated them better… he tugged at his blazer lapel, the hall feeling hotter than it actually was.
he reached a hand over and placed it atop their arm, leaning into their ear and speaking gently. “ghost…? a-are you doing okay?”
judging by how he felt their fist clench, they were not. he looked up for a moment, thinking of what to do to help. maybe they could leave out to the patio area… or leave the whole party all together?
he leaned back over to them, analyzing their emotions as best he could when ghost lifted their face to him, “d-do you wanna ditch the party? i mean, it’s only us back here…” he looked amongst the crowd, seeing his family and everyone else occupied by the party. they wouldn’t even notice that they left!
after watching ghost’s contemplative expression for a few moments, they nodded. they both got up, choro speaking and reassuring them in a calm tone as they sneaked their way out from the back patio area, walking back around to the front of the building.
the cool air helped relieve ghost’s nerves, their shoulder’s noticeably sagging in relaxation as they walked with choro to who knows where. they still had that irritated look, though…
“y-you know…” choro looked down at ghost, grabbing their hand in his. “you didn’t have to come with me, especially if it stressed you out… you could’ve said no.”
their hand tightened in his, tone slightly edgy and irritated, “i know.”
they paused for a few moments, before sighing and dropping their head. “i know… but i didn’t want to say no…”
“why not?”
“…”
choro stopped walking, turning his whole body towards them. he knows that they get quiet whenever they’re overstimulated, or when they’re socially drained, but it still made him worry.
before he could ask again, a relatively loud whine came from ghost, their hands flying up to grip either side of their head.
“because i didn’t want to fucking disappoint you!”
ghost’s cheeks flushed a similar color to their suit, entire body shaking in irritation as they confessed. he swore he could see a vein about to pop in their temple… choro stepped closer to them, grabbing one of their hands with his and bringing it close to him. this immediately shut them up, posture straightening slightly as they tensed.
“you wouldn’t have disappointed me. your care and well being come before everyone elses… even mine.” he looked at them, tone soft and expression gentle. he watched as they slowly calmed down, eventually looking away as they processed his words.
choro decided on a whim to take a chance. he turned over their hand in his, bringing it up to his lips and pressing a soft kiss onto their wrist, his other hand finding purchase at their sinched waist.
he swore he heard a small squeak come from them, his eyes looking up to see a flustered ghost standing in front of him. he chuckled, guiding their hands to rest on his shoulders.
choro leaned his forehead against theirs, “feeling better…?”
ghost sighed, a small smile tugging at the corners of their lips. they leaned into the touch, looking up at him above their glasses lenses. “yes… thank you.”
22: slow/passionate kiss
two figures stood out on an apartment balcony, enjoying the cool breeze and clear, starry skies of the summer night.
it was so quiet, but not an awkward kind. a kind where the silence comforted you when you were alone, or even alone with someone to be alone with.
ghost leaned to the side, bumping into choromatsu as they watched the night sky go by. ghost felt him lean into them a few moments after, resting the side of his head atop theirs.
choro heard ghost hum, followed by nails tapping against an empty soda can, “hmm?”
“oh- I didn’t say anything.”
“ah, s-sorry…”
“you’re fine. but…” the tapping stops as ghost leans back, tilting their head up to look at choromatsu,
“this is nice. you know, to…” they mumbled the last part under their breath, a deep blush now painting their cheeks. thank god it was nighttime, so choro couldn’t see it.
“to…?” choro pried, one of his arms slowly slipping behind ghost to wrap around their back, his hand pulling their hip closer to him.
it was a small gesture, but he knew it made them lose their mind, judging by how their face ever-so-slightly contorted from it.
“…to spend time with you…like this,” ghost gestured between them and the area around them, “it’s… nice. really nice, actually.”
choromatsu smiled, his brows furrowing upwards as he listened to their words. ghost couldn’t say how they felt fully about it, but he can get a pretty good idea that they enjoyed it a lot. their smile told a lot, too.
he leaned forward, his forehead barely touching the side of theirs as he tried getting closer. “good, i-it should be…” he could feel his heart race at how this was going, how close they were getting to each other.
even just one direct look at each other made both of them feel nervous, but yet neither of them moved away. ghost set their can on the railing, turning to face choromatsu fully.
oh god, this is happening, choro thought. his hands, albeit clammy and sweaty, rose up to cup ghost’s cheeks gently and delicately. they were burning, and even though he couldn’t see the color, he knew they were scarlet.
he paused there, looking for any confirmation or sign to keep going from ghost. they lightly nodded, their eyes lidding halfway as they leaned into his touch.
choro slowly leaned forward at their confirmation, his breath barely fanning against their lips. he was nervous, so fucking nervous. but he was so,so close, and he hadn’t gotten beaten up or shoved away just yet, so…
he gently pressed his lips against theirs, trying to be as slow and delicate as possible. he didn’t feel ghost kiss back at first, their lips pressed tightly shut. he was just about to lean back, feeling as if he overstepped, but they pushed back against him as they slowly accepted the kiss.
it was slow, but god did it feel amazing. choro’s hands slipped behind their hips, resting at the small of their back as he leaned even further into the kiss.
ghost let a small moan escape, and it was all that it took for choro to lose it.
choro bit ghost’s bottom lip, eliciting a gasp from them and give him the chance to slip his tongue inside, his hands pulling them flush against his chest. their hands immediately wrapped around his neck, pulling him down to get a better angle in the kiss. at some points they parted from the kiss to breathe, before diving back in with even more passion than the previous kiss had.
choro leaned against ghost, pushing them into the metal railing behind them. he let his hands trail up from their lower back to just prodding underneath the hem of their shirt. so close… so close to lifting their shirt, seeing their chest, getting to close to-
a loud clattering sound resonated through the night, making them both jump and part from the kiss and look around. shit- had someone caught them? no, it’s too late, and the front door was locked…
ghost looked over their shoulder, and it wasnt until then that they realized. “a-ah…”
choro pressed against ghost to look over the balcony, seeing the soda can rolling against the neighbords patio. so THAT’S what it was. thank goodness…
he rested his head in the crook of their neck, his arms wrapping back around ghost, “h-hah, that scared me so bad…”
“i-i know…”
a particularly cool breeze drifted by, making them shudder from the sudden temperature drop. perhaps they should continue this inside…

15 seems to really fit blup+Taako and 27 seems to fit taakitz really well. maybe it's basic but that's me baby!!!! can I get one of those? dealer's choice.
15. “I see how you look at my sister”
--
Taako's had a few weird fucking weeks. The whole... thing with Sazed had been- yikes. No fun. He was trying not to think about it too much, but he couldn't stop replaying the scene when he closed his eyes. Finishing the dish. Saying a funny little quip. Lup had made an even funnier quip back but, for some reason, the response had slipped from his mind. Instead, all that really stuck with Lup pulling his arm back as he went to give out the first sample, hard enough for him to drop the entire platter, and saying,
"Don't fucking serve that."
Seeing his sister die wasn't- like it wasn't great, okay? And seeing her red ghost Casper-looking soul rise from her body wasn't ideal either, to be honest! There had been a moment when the crowd had descended into complete and utter silence. Then, someone came running back with a doctor and the world split into noise again. People, pointing, some screaming, the doctor rushing up to the stage, and Lup- Lup speaking straight static into his ears, unmoving from over her body.
Yeah, it's been fucking wild out here.
And Taako had to admit, it could have been a lot worse! It could have been a whole lot worse. Lup could have properly died and not turned into a ghost. Taako could have died, which would have been equally bad or even worse, considering Lup had informed him that he would not, in fact, also turn into a ghost. Sazed had gotten away, sure, but at least Taako wasn't being blamed for Lup's death or the almost-death forty people.
But still. If you had asked Taako a few weeks ago where he'd imagine himself being in a few weeks' time, he would have probably said something like vacation, or more touring. Instead, he was sitting in a cold, damp cave, twisting his Stone of Farspeech to match with a new frequency. Overhead, Lup's spectral form was in a deep conversation with another, slightly smaller, floating red-robed ghost. Taako, frankly, could not wrap his head around their conversation and had stopped trying.
"Taako!" Lup said. Taako looked up. "I've called your name like, five times, dingus."
"I thought you were still doing static stuff," Taako said. "What's up?"
"I gotta go get a new blood processor for the tank," Lup said. "Wanna come?"
"Uhh, no, I'm good," Taako said, remembering where they had gotten the last part of the tank from. It took two whole days to get the gunk off his boots. "Have fun."
"Don't be too mean to Barry," Lup said. "I'll be back in a bit."
Don't be too mean to the floating red ghost that is reanimating you a new body. Right. Sure. Lup disappeared in a flash of flames and Taako and Barry stared at each other for a second before Taako turned away again.
It's not like they didn't get along, it was just... weird. Awkward. It had been bad enough having Lup speak in static but as soon as they found Barry, that's pretty much what all conversations turned into. Taako kind of felt like he was third-wheeling.
Actually, scratch that, he was definitely third-wheeling. He wanted to know where the fuck Lup knew this guy from but apparently, the truth would "break his brain" or some bullshit like that.
Still, he felt like he was missing a chapter or two. Or maybe the whole book. Taako didn't know this guy from Adam, but Lup was like- in love with him? It was obvious he was in love with Lup, at least. And it's not like he was gonna talk about it because when he brought it up to the two of them, they tried to pretend like there wasn't some sort of romance happening. Except that he had known Lup his whole life, so she obviously couldn't lie to him, and Barry-
Barry was awkward and weird. He gave off the distinct air that he knew Taako, though he couldn't say from where and they both explained it away with "big fish" and "Lucretia." Taako didn't know a Lucretia. All he knew is that 1) his sister was dead and 2) this guy was a huge fucking nerd.
"So, uh," Barry said. "Nice weather we're having."
"No," Taako said.
"Y- yeah, alright," Barry said. Taako turned, setting his Stone aside.
"Listen, my man," Taako said. "Explain to me the situation to me one more time."
"Well, uh." Barry cleared his non-existent throat. "Which part exactly?"
"The "you and Lup" part," Taako said.
"That's a- a pretty big part, d'you wanna narrow it down a little, or-"
"Barry," Taako said. "You- you and Lup can not tell me stuff or speak in TV static or whatever, but I'm gonna give it to you straight: I have seen how you look at my sister." Barry spluttered. "Like I might be dumb, but I'm not that dumb. My intelligence modifier could be in the negatives and I would still know."
"I mean-"
"Barryyy," Taako said. "The truth, Barry."
"I just, like-"
"Barry," Taako said again. "D'you want me to do a perception check, because I will-"
"We just figured that it'd be easier to, uh, not tell you yet?" Barry said. "Like, obviously this whole situation is gonna be kinda weird for you but Lup and me being ma- ...interested in each other isn't gonna help you any. So we just kinda- we kinda wanted to-"
"Why the fuck would you think that you two being in love is the worst thing to tell me right now," Taako said, slamming his hands on the ground. Barry's form jumped. "I saw Lup fucking die and I'm watching her body grow in a goddamn Nickelodeon slime tank, like- that is not the worst thing to happen to me in the past few weeks. I could literally not care less."
"We didn't want to overwhelm you," Barry said weakly.
"Well I'm pretty overwhelmed, so you might as well!" Taako said. Barry looked like he wanted to say something at that, but just kind of floated aimlessly in place. Taako sat back against the wall, bringing his knees up to his chest. He took a deep breath.
"Can I, uhm... help explain anything to you?" Barry said. "To make it, uhm, less overwhelming."
Taako sighed. Yeah, there were lots of things he'd like an explanation on. Why did Lup turn into a ghost? Why wasn't he able to understand the static? Why did he feel like he could trust Barry even though they only just met? Did they meet before, actually? Is that where Lup knew him from? If so, why didn't Taako remember? Exactly how much Fantasy Ibuprofen did he need to take to get rid of the headache that he has had for the past three whole weeks?
"Yeah, I've got a question," Taako said, sitting up.
"Yeah?" Barry said.
"Yeah," Taako said. "I gotta know what you look like because like, no offense, but Lup tends to pick out fucking weirdos, and the only person I can picture when thinking about you is Tom Arnold."

Briefly coming off hiatus to make fun of rogers because fuck then and their cell service oligopoly !
Armin expects a lot of things on his Friday afternoon, he expects to hangout with his girlfriend for dinner later that night, maybe see his best friend Eren for a few hours at the gym, if only he would text back. Maybe catch up and spend some quality time with his grandpa, he expects a lot of things for the weekend.
What he does not expect is his best friend showing up at his door at 3 pm Friday afternoon absolutely sobbing at his doorstep.
“Armin we broke up.”
“What?”
He’s never seen eren cry before but boy is his bestie an ugly crier.
“I don’t know how it happened but we must have broken up Mikasa hasn’t messaged me since yesterday afternoon, SHE GHOSTED ME ARMIN!”
“Eren I don’t think-“
Armin is cut off by yet another round of sobs and all he can do is pat his best friends back comfortingly, “it’ll be okay buddy.”
Eren sniffles, “it won’t, it’ll never be okay, how will I live without her, I’m going to die!”
“Eren are you sure?” Armin tries to talk sense into his best friend because really Eren and Mikasa are about the only love he truly believes in. Their relationship is the only reason he really believes in love at all, so really Mikasa ghosting him randomly on a friday doesn’t make a lot of sense.
“You’re right Armin, I have to get her back! I need to leave right now I have to go see her!!”
Armin never has the chance to tell his dumb best friend about the nation wide cell service outage, and Eren is too heartbroken to realize he is not in fact being ignored he simply has no cell service.
Armin considers attempting to fix the problem, finding his friend, talking sense into him, but really he’s already left in his car and although Armin has cell service, he knows for a fact Eren doesn’t and neither does Mikasa.
Oh well, not his problem, they’ll figure it out.
He goes back inside to make his grandpa tea thinking that’s the end of it.
That is not in fact the end of it and an hour later Mikasa turns up at his door hysterical.
“Armin where is Eren have you seen him, I can’t get ahold of him and when I went to his house his mom said he ran away earlier in hysterics?? Is he okay? Did he come here at all?"
"Mikasa," Armin greets as she finishes talking, out of breath with the stress of losing her boyfriend. "Just take a breath." "I can't! I lost my boyfriend!"
"Relax, I saw him an hour ago." "Oh really," Mikasa breathes an obvious sigh of release, perking up considerably from her previously stressed countenance, "Is he okay?" Armin winces as he realizes the bad news he's going to have to deliver, "Umm not exactly, he thinks you broke up with him." Mikasa's voice is shrill, grating as she responds, "What!?"
Armin scratches his head nervously as the very volatile Mikasa Ackerman stares him down murderously.
"Yeah, umm he kind of just left after, he was going to find you to win you back."
Mikasa is aghast at his terrible explanation, "And you let him out alone??"
It's the tone she uses when she's very explicitly upset and one he only usually hears when she berates Eren for doing something particularly stupid, he never thought he'd be on the receiving end of it.
"Yes," Armin mumbles and she looks horrified, you'd think he'd lost her child in the supermarket or something.
"With the debit machines out??"
"Mikasa this is civilization not the apocalypse just relax, I know there's no cell service or wifi but he'll be fine."
"I don’t like him all alone Armin you know he’s fragile! What if someone tries to take him?"
“Mikasa, it’s Eren, he's a fully capable human being you know.”
“Exactly!" She snaps, "It’s Eren!”
“Shit,” Armin whispers, she’s totally right now that he thinks about who knows what chaos his best friend is up to thinking his girlfriend dumped him. Especially when there's no cell service or wifi in a lot of places and his debit card currently won't work.
“Damn it okay, let’s take your car.”
They find Eren lying on Mikasa’s front lawn staring up at the sky muttering to himself, “The world is a cruel place.”
“Is he okay?”
“I told you how he gets Armin!”
His friends are nuts.

Put your Spotify Wrapped on Shuffle and List the First 10 Songs.
Tagged by @obliviouspoptart (why woukd you do this to me)
Sinking Ship by CAKE
I really like CAKE and this song makes me think of Our Flag Means Death. It's also one of the newer CAKE songs, they've still got it!
2. Never There by CAKE
I swear this is on shuffle. Just a coincidence. This is also an absolutely banger CAKE song, from their album Prolonging the Magic, which I've been trying to find on CD as of late (it's technically available on Amazon but I like the thrill of the hunt)
3. I've Got The World On A String by Frank Sinatra
Okay since we're here, I'll warn everyone, my Spotify Wrapped was severely disturbed by my sleep playlist. During the summer I basically listened to it every night, so I had a lot of unexpected Louie Zong and Frank Sinatra on my Wrapped. I have always liked Frank Sinatra though, ever since I was a little kid. I had over 30 Frank Sinatra CDs as a freshman in high school.
4. Sleepwalk by nelward
Aw hell yeah nelward time! My top song of the year was a different nelward song, he's such an underappreciated artist. He's incredibly creative and is always changing things up, but in ways that are still uniquely him. Sleepwalk is a slower jam. Recently I saw a Jerma985 edit to this song and it made me laugh.
5. Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy by Queen
This song is transmasc coded. No I will not elaborate.
6. Fictional Animals by FrankJavCee and NothinButLag
This song is unnecessarily short. It deserves to be twice as long. Frank FrankJavCee brings his classic style and Justin NothinButLag adds a unique creativity and lyrical style. It's also about bigfoot/cryptids, so plus ten points.
7. Fred Astaire by Jukebox the Ghost
OUGH I love Jukebox the Ghost. They've been my top artist on Spotify Wrapped for three years now. There's several songs from them on my Wrapped, I believe this was one of the singles for their second to last album, Off To The Races. Fun fact: after that album came out, I made a painting combining that album's cover with the cover of Demon Days by The Gorillaz, and brought it to their concert. I handed it to their guitarist and an artist in his own right, Tommy Siegel, who displayed it proudly on stage for the whole concert. I love those guys.
8. Moonsetter by SudoName
Fucking... hear me out. I know this is a Homestuck song. I just like the piano for my sleep playlist.
9. Close Talker by nelward
Another nelward tune! This one was released about a year ago, I was really obsessed with it for a bit. It does, however, have a sound that is a lot like the sound made in Pokemon Go when a Pokemon is shaking in a Pokeball. I remember listening to it as I played Pokemon Go last year and I realized this, and now it's all I can hear.
10. Lighting Myself on Fire
Now THIS is a Jukebox The Ghost song! I absolutely love when the boys go a little darker, something that was a little more present on their first album, Let Live and Let Ghosts (which this song is from), but still shows up occasionally. I think these are largely the songs written (and sometimes sung) by Tommy Siegel; something partially confirmed by lead vocalist and pianist Ben Thornwell saying "this is one about existential dread, so of course it was written by Tommy" at the last concert of theirs I went to.
Tagging: @amurderofmagpies and I don't know any other people so that's it.

doxxing her entirely under the cut
I have either outright stated or hinted at I think all of this at some point or another but 👉👈 I miss her and God knows how much of this will change for any other setting she worms her way to
Ava was supposed to be named Chava, after her aunt (Emir and Kerem's younger sister) who died young (probably also from CIP)— Deirdre changed if at the last minute.
Deirdre constantly pronounces her name wrong— but so does Kerem in the end, because he's still putting a ghost in her face.
(Ava is the spitting image of Chava— this bit was admittedly from writing backwards, but became a 'haha wouldn't it be fucked up if—' that worked so perfectly with everything else it quite literally wrote itself, same as people constantly telling her she looks familiar at the grocery store or whatever. Looking at her and seeing a ghost... it was fun to lean into!).
This is also ultimately why her parenting was so lax from baba and amca— in a way they had their baby sister again, and were ultimately convinced Ava would die young just as she had— so a lot of it was. "Well shower her in the love and care we regret not giving more of to Chava." In a fucked up way kinda a second chance. Is it obvious yet that I'm obsessed with replacement goldfish syndrome / people forcibly perpetuating cycles mashed together with severe identity issues. Like can you see it. Anyways.
Not believing in unconditional love etc etc blah blah we all know that bit.
Emir died when she was 14, the same year Kerem left to return to Turkey and her brother just started college; this led to a marked increase in Deirdre's need for control and made Ava's life hell for the last years she stayed. (Parental abuse cw: towards the end it was being stripped by Deirdre the second she walked through the door to be checked for injuries— any bruise or scrape was a sign she wasn't trying hard enough, you want them to take you away from me, you don't love me, you'll never understand the pain I'm in— none of this is New but when Deirdre felt so out of control with the rest of her life it got much much worse).
"Why did Kerem leave?" His brother was dead and he couldn't pretend everything was okay anymore. Ava became a reflection of both his lost siblings. Men will literally abandon their niece, guiltily bring their cut of their dead brother's life insurance policy back home to take care of the rest of their family, and live in guilt that they try desperately to ignore every single day instead of going to therapy.
"How did Emir die?" I've thrown around a couple ideas for this but ultimately the answer doesn't really matter as much as the fact it happened.
Ava ran away at 16 bounced around a few years different cities different jobs ended up falling in with Yamba surf co. (at that time just a bunch of idiot surfers without a co-op in Brisbane) when she had a brief stint in professional surfing, which is how her brother found her & confronted her & she ultimately beat the shit out of him. Salem wisely asked no questions and simply extended an offer for her to move down the coast with them to Yamba so he could take care of his grandmother. (The others joined them shortly after.)
What else. What else. I feel like that's about it. She settled in Yamba and taught tourists how to surf and volunteered at a dog kennel and ate dinner at Salem's grandmother's house every Sunday.
(Note: if you notice it switched from Salim to Salem that's because in my initial research I swear to fuck it said Salim was the more common Anglicization but then I saw Salem on our work schedule and when I checked again saw a consensus on 'Salem' instead so now I'm sticking with Salem ig).
Salem nearly killed her during a diving trip they went on together (forgot to switch one of her tanks while they were talking and she flustered him) which is when they first moved into her apartment to make sure she didn't die & found out about her CIP and then he simply never fucking left. They're both fucking fiends for HSPs.

👻🌙🌧️
thank you!!
👻 ghost | can you tease some wip ideas that have been haunting you/something you want to write in the future?
do you mean my entire series? lmao that'd take too long, i can talk about some of the others tho I really think it'd be fun to do a fantasy murder mystery...like, Agatha Christie style. I've never written a murder mystery though but it is my favorite genre outside of fantasy so....someday... I've had this idea for a haunted circus that I'd love to weave into the framework of Dracrie someday...orginially I was gonna have be set in like 1910-1920 Coney Island, but I'd really like to have all of my books set in Dracrie so I'll just have to adapt it to fit Another idea that i would l o v e to write is about a creepy forest. I already have the perfect place in Dracrie for it (there's a rainforest in Woji that is chock-full of fantastical plants) so now I just have to conjure up a plot for it lol the last one I can think of atm is I'd love to do Jane Austen adaptations, but set in Jou'eou. it just sounds like a fun challenge, but who knows when the fuck I'll get to it lmao
🌙 moon | do any of your OCs have dark backstories or secrets they’re trying to keep?
for Seafoam, there are several lurking secrets, and they'll all get revealed in time, but I don't want to get too spoiler-y lol the ones who have the biggest secrets are Solera, Sosta, Geros, Cilia, and Omero, but where I am right now in the draft, only Omero's has been fully revealed (and dealt with)
🌧️ rain | share a sad or emotional scene from your wip!
okay this i have in spades for Seafoam lol this is from Chapter 2 Rocks jutted out of the sea, scattered a little ways out. Further than I had ever swam. Pa never let me go out too far without him. Said it was too dangerous. “Did—” I started to ask, my voice cracking in my throat. “Did anyone else get thrown overboard?”  Zeno was quiet for a moment. I didn’t look away from the furthest rock I could see. There was a little tree growing on it, despite the raging sea.  “No. Just your father.”  “Wasn’t there anything—” My throat tightened, speech becoming impossible. Zeno grabbed my hand in both of his, the rough calluses almost soothing, in a way. “Thala, I’m so sorry.” My head bowed, my shoulders shook as tears overcame me once more. The waves churned around me, around us. If it hadn’t been for Zeno pulling me into a tight embrace, I might have let the sea sweep me away. Carry me off to a distant land, where I would forget all about this pain.  In fact, I would have welcomed it.  His hands rested on my neck and back, holding me close. “It’ll be alright. I’m here.” He turned his head, pressing the lightest of kisses to my hair. “I’ve got you.”
send me autumn asks?
