Then one time he falls into rut and he /needs/ to have sqh close to him, yet he's at An Ding Peak for important business and he doesn't his mate to be mad at him for causing problems. So he ends up building himself a nest, feeling weird about the idea of doing this, but then being in bed, surrounded by sqh scent helps.

when sqh is finally back he's confused about why half his things smell heavily of mbj. After that mbj ends up making himself a nest, even when sqh is here, since sqh is also part of his little nest. he doesn't care if people say nests are "an omega thing" to do, he will make them.

Beta!LQG taking care of OA couple Bingqiu during their heat/rut.

Like, he struggles for a solid 15 minutes trying to make something akin to a nest — running around trying to get stuff.

Hunts animals, brings them back and watches the Cooks closely to make sure they don't try nothing on the food.

Maybe hand feeding his shixiong and his shixiong's annoying (-ly handsome) demonic husband.

Sitting close by or guarding them to make sure they're okay.

Scented candles he pre-made by hand for their next heat/rut to help them through it.

LBH is just cronked out, while SQQ has some amount of lucidity — but that's mainly to demand attention and affection.

LQG may have coo'd and crooned while holding LBH once, because he was having some rut-enduced nightmare. (He swears that if SQH says anything about it, he'll make sure nobody finds him again)

Nobody is allowed to comment about the fact he smells so much like them once the joint heat/rut is about to end — mainly because he realized neither remembered the fact he was there and thus he shall keep it that way.

On hand suppressants/scented oils because too many plants enduce ruts/heats, and these two idiots keep falling into them-

(LQG's inner beta wants to stay so badly, but he pulls himself away. Which is why he usually ends up dealing with Moshang — Elder beta want to cuddle younger beta; Alpha dosen't know how to express friendship, so just does as his mate suggests in that situation.)

The problem with SVSSS Omegaverse AUs is if I want to keep it close to canon I have to ignore the fact that in any Omegaverse version Tianlang-jun was definitely the one to birth Binghe

Because I can't imagine an Omegaverse SVSSS where Su Xiyan isn't an Alpha who knocked up Tianlang-jun

Tbh if I was to write Omegaverse SVSSS Demon Omegas would be top of the food chain in the demon realm and omega/omega relationships are common amoungst top demons. Betas are second rank as they are useful for not losing their heads. Alpha's can be very powerful and respected especially when paired with a powerful omega, but most alphas are an oppressed minority and kept as pets by omegas.

Whereas it's more typical a/b/o dynamics in the human realm

And because of Airplane's bullshit Binghe is a human Alpha AND a demon Omega

Shen Qingqiu is an omega because of Shen Jiu angst but a byproduct of Without a Cure is it is basically a suppressant and Shen Yuan spends most of his time as Shen Qingqiu as basically a beta which helps him miss cues

Everyone thinks Shang Qinghua is a beta or they know he's an alpha but forget it because he acts more like a Beta. The only one who is always hyper aware he's an Alpha at all times is Mobei

Mobei and Sha Hualing are obviously omegas

Liu Qingge is a beta. This surprises most people but I argue that's why he's socially clueless

Yue Qingyuan is presented as an alpha because his Shizun wanted him to be but he actually is/was an omega though no one knows. Lots of potential for angst

Ning Yingying - Omega

Ming Fan - Alpha

Why go for technical abo? Dive straight in — have you considered Beta!Liu Qingge and the absolute chaos it would be for BingQiu to court him because everyone thinks LQG is an Alpha?

They court him like an Alpha, but that just leaves LQG confused — equally Beta Shang Qinghua just not helping them till SQQ comes demanding answers because he found the whole situation funny.

this sounds utterly hilarious, i would absolutely read it!!! and the bingliu(shen) that i just posted 100% explicitly meets the criteria of being alpha/beta/omega but i think the ways in which it does may elude the casual reader... hehe....

where the exact moment mbj enters rut, Ω!SQH simply cannot escape his line of sight for even a second.

Needs to get some document he forgot? He better be taking mbj with him or the alpha /will/ track him down and keep him in his arm all day long until he's finally reassured.

sqh knows it is partially his fault, as he probably scared his mate when he ran away the first time after the Northern Realm Ascension trials. But how could he have known how his king felt like that towards him?

mbj already has difficulty trusting people (although he feels really happy that mbj trusts him that much!!). But over the years they worked through it and he knows mbj is more secure about their relationship (especially since he became his mate).

yet, every time mbj would hit his rut it was different. sqh had been surprised the first time he passed it with him as a partner, as mbj didn't seem interested in sex.

But he had noticed how obsessed he was with him (or rather more than usual) and how protective he would get.

It had been an interesting discussion once mbj was out of his rut, but now sqh could better understand his mate and help him out better. Didn't want to mate for hours on end? Fine by him, it was easier dealing with someone who needed to be by your side 24/7 rather than someone who wanted to fuck all day long without giving him a break.

Instead, the omega would go: NO, I am not trying to run away again. Yes, this servant will stay by his king's side. Yes, they can cuddle in bed once he is finished with all his paperwork for the day (paperwork that mbj should be doing, but he won't point that out). Yes, my king can bathe with me, but he /cannot/ watch me going to pee! No, it's not tHE SAME!!!

Beta!Liu Qingge

Like, My brain just keeps replaying this idea:

Airplane added Omegaverse into his stallion novel because of an online friend he had, called 'Asexual-Menace' (Don't ask about the naming convention), who just kept brainrotting A/B/O.

But like, they had an extra focuse oj the socialization, how each dynamic would work, what are their differences and even fleshed out Betas as a subgender. Which, Airplane indulged in and eventually, asked to add their friends ideas into his stallion novel.

'Ace' would often beta read any of his begging drafts, encourage him and even help him with world building — which is why the Omegaverse became a part of PIDW

Though eventually, between Ace... no longer being around and Airplane needing to pay rent, a lot of things were left ambiguous, implied, personal information or small scenarios he wrote to get out of creative ruts at like 1 am.

What came as a consequence, is that all that background information becomes very tangible situations once he transmigrates as Shang Qinghua.

Luckily for him, SQH is a Beta, and thus, he doesn't need to deal with the A/O aspect.

Now he gets to deal with the Beta-aspects his friend had written, which are both good and horrible:

Pros: Great sense of smell, naturally boosted stamina, faint scents that don't stick easily/harder to track, No heats/ruts, rarely goes feral, levelheadedness is easier to maintain, pack-driven which means he can blend into crowds if need be.

Cons: Being the most responsible of subgenders, ferality is a dangerous thing for betas and usually leads to qi-diviations in Beta cultivators, need to run pack-mating cycles, needs to care for Alphas/Omegas/Pups equally, instinctual inclination to battle other betas to release stress

So, he's in a meh state, but overall — prefers to be a Beta.

Though, there was just one plot line he never thought he'd get to see through — but thanks to our resident Cucumber-bro, SY saved Liu Qingge's life and let's the plot line unfold.

You see, Liu Qingge became a peak lord without presenting — he's a late bloomer. His Qi-diviation was actually related to this fact, for obvious reasons; as not presenting makes it so bottlenecks are harder to break.

Though thanks to him being Alive, he eventually does present and as a Beta.

All of his readers assumed LQG is an Alpha and a lot of in-world characters did too — but that was never the case. LQG was meant to be a sort of mentorly-rival/Mid-Boss for LBG to learn/fight with. Him being a Beta was important to that.

Because Betas don't have strong scents, meaning not catching it in time or taking seconds too long to follow it, ends with it disappearing.

In Airplane's drafts, LBG would face off against a semi-recently presented LQG. A LQG who now has the natural boosts of being a Beta, alongside having had several major breakthroughs that were being held back due to him still being a 'pup' in that regard.

LBG would be arrogant, then be knocked down a peg by the War God himself — outlasting expectations and disappearing in tight spaces like corridors because his scent is so faint, LBG can't catch it for more than seconds — while LBG's scent is overwhelming, meaning LQG has the natural advantage. A play of nature/instincts + wisdown/strategy between the Alpha Demon lord and the Beta War God.

There's another layer to this, being a subversion of expectations — LQG had a presence; the way he stood, his tone and cadence, the way he carried himself in and out of battle. It makes sense, when you take stereotypes into consideration that he'd be an Alpha — but thats exactly why 'Ace' argued against it. Why they instead brought the idea of a Beta being the war god and how that would give a better showcase of how A/B/O and the subgenders can manifest the same instincts in different ways.

The readers, just like the characters in the drafts, are meant to be fooled by expectations then be blind sided.

Obviously, that was scrapped for the original novel but now, SQH gets to witness such a thing — though Obviously different to how he imagined it.

Since the Original SQH was the eldest beta amongst them, that means HE has to be the one to help LQG through those first stages of adapting to the changes in your body, to this new hypersensitivity, to the way your qi and meridians slowly change to adapt and the new instincts that come with being a Beta.

LQG has this earthy scent, like fresh soil, mixed in with some scent oil — something remenicent of the oil they use to clean/polish their swords.

Airplane would be so happy to see the plot line him and 'Ace' made come into fruition in some capacity.

Then it would spiral into something he didn't expect, because BingLiuShen + 'Compatible scents'

He was cursing at himself and the 'compatible scent' bs he had made for some of the wife-plots to work.

Shen Yuan realizes that the plot holes in PIDW really are going to be the actual death of him, but all he has to do is survive in this new world and keep his Gege and Qi-ge safe and happy with him!

But most importantly, stay as far away from the scum villain and Luo Binghe as possible! Which turns out to be his biggest struggles of all!

Summary:

Once Qinghua was asleep, Mobei-jun restrained him. He had considered Immortal Binding Cable, but decided against it. It would make Qinghua uncomfortable to have his cultivation suppressed, and Mobei-jun didn’t expect him to make more than the traditional token attempts to escape. Instead he wound soft velvet rope around his bare wrists and ankles. Then he fastened the collar around Qinghua’s throat—fur-lined, sapphire-studded—and chained it to the wall. There was enough chain for Qinghua to wander the room. Mobei-jun hoped Qinghua would appreciate his leniency.

My favourite part: Too hard to choose, so here's a quote.

It had taken Shang Qinghua a while to put together all these oddities, because half the time he spent with Mobei-jun they were just having sweaty, voracious, bed-breaking sex. (The furniture on An Ding had not been made to withstand the strain. Thankfully Shang Qinghua could sign his own requisition requests, because how the fuck would he have explained that.) But now that he’d noticed them, there was only one conclusion. Mobei-jun didn’t need him as a spy anymore. And that meant his days were numbered. That was step one in the Shang Qinghua getting knocked off plotline!

So I wrote a SQH/SQQ ABO fic a while ago? Have an alternate take where LBH and SQQ don’t break up and deal instead.

“Is Shizun certain this is necessary?”

“Does Binghe think I'd leave him if it weren't?”

Luo Binghe frowns, displeased. “If Shizun really wanted it, I'm sure we could make it work. It's not fair that the one time my husband really craves sex, he goes to someone else for it.”

Did he really have to say it like that? It's not like Shen Qingqiu chose any of this! “Binghe! Don't be crude!”

“It's true! Even if I can't feel it the way Shang-shishu can, I'm not blind. Shizun gets tactile, he flushes, gets distracted and eager like he never is. It's a trial for me too! The least Shizun could do after being this seductive is invite his husband to bed instead of running away to offer himself to someone who doesn't deserve him.”

Shen Qingqiu sighs. They go through this every time the first symptoms of his heat start showing up. Binghe is convinced that this time will be the one where Shen Qingqiu's love for him will protect him from his need to get Shang Qinghua's knot inside of him.

The worst is, they tried. And Shen Qingqiu ended up crying out of frustration and fighting Luo Binghe off because he has no right to be touching him, he's not the one who should be there, where is his alpha?

Then Luo Binghe spent days crying, wishing he could have been born a normal human, an alpha, so that he'd be Shizun's mate. He couldn't help feeling rejected because that's what he was. And Shen Qingqiu was in no state to soothe his pain because he'd been too busy taking care of his own needs to mind him.

They made up after. They always do. Their feelings are true, no matter how their bodies react.

It just doesn't make it easier.

It could have been so much worse though. Luo Binghe is so lucky Shen Qingqiu's alpha is such a pushover that he's fine with being cucked 99% of the year.

Well, it's not like Shang Qinghua doesn't have his own demonic husband who gets even less of human presentation dynamics than Binghe. It's just that, ironically, it makes things easier for him. Mobei-Jun doesn't understand how the alpha/omega bond works. He just knows Shang Qinghua has to fuck Shen Qingqiu sometime or he'll go crazy. He takes it as just another human quirk.

It has been an unexpected complication. Fucking mate systems. Shen Qingqiu had realised that Shang Qinghua could tell, somehow, when he was about to need him. He hadn't thought he'd feel it though. Apparently, when they tried to stay apart, Shang Qinghua had turned uncharacteristically bitter and aggressive to the point that Mobei-Jun had to physically restrain him from barging into Shen Qingqiu's room. By the time Shen Qingqiu escaped, Shang Qinghua had almost been as desperate as him. The sex had been… something else.

They hadn't tried again. Shen Qingqiu thinks they both knew this is how things would turn out. Neither of them was hoping for a second try. They did their best. It wasn't enough. That was that. Luo Binghe would have to deal.

“It can’t be helped. Binghe knows I’d choose him if I could, but I can’t. He has me all of the rest of the time.” He had been packing a few things before they became necessary. He’s not leaving quite yet, but he’s certainly been feeling… friskier than usual. At this level, he’s not averse to Binghe’s touch.

He closes on his husband and brushes their hands together. “He could have me now, if he wanted.”

Binghe grabs his hand tightly. “Shizun is unfair, offering himself like this to distract me, knowing I can’t resist him.” His mouth finds Shen Qingqiu’s neck and bites where he knows Shen Qingqiu likes it.

Shen Qingqiu whines and leans into his husband, his mind already fogging. “Binghe…”

Luo Binghe sighs. “How could I refuse my husband when he needs me? All I want is to be there for him, always.”

“Binghe doesn’t have to do more than he already is.”

Luo Binghe’s hands on his skin feel like relief. “Shizun should let me care for him as I usually do then. But he won’t. It’s too hard for him. I’ll accept it for his sake, but he can’t expect me to be happy about it.”

Shen Qingqiu doesn’t. He knows only too well how much Luo Binghe hate Shen Qingqiu’s situation. He’s aware that it’s not fair on him. Shen Qingqiu has felt guilty about this before, but he doesn’t anymore. Binghe chose this. He decided to pick a husband with a bond to someone else. Luo Binghe has more liberty in this than him. He could leave and marry someone else. For better or for worse, Shen Qingqiu is stuck with Shang Qinghua.

He doesn’t blame Shang Qinghua for it. He’s sure his fellow cultivator would also prefer to keep to his own husband, but it’s not an option for either of them, so they must accept their fate.

In the meantime, all he can do is take advantage of his current state, where his inhibitions are slowly fading away, to offer his husband a side of himself usually buried. Shen Qingqiu willing and eager is enough to clear Luo Binghe’s mind of worries, for a while.

Eventually, Shen Qingqiu will have to leave to find relief in someone’s arms, and there will be no one to soothe Binghe’s loneliness. He will have to remember that Shen Qingqiu will return, and that they will be each other’s again when it’s over.

But until then, Shen Qingqiu will remind Binghe’s his heart is his, and his only.
