do you have any bloodborne fanfic recommendations? i trust your taste 💌
I'll admit I haven't read too much Bloodborne fanfiction and I want to (especially on Eileen the Crow and Fauxsefka) but I do have some recs. Warning in Advance that I am a Maria/Kos shipper so if you're not into that well a good number of these are moot.
Not listed in any order except maybe latest to oldest added to my bookmarks:
Carmina Abyssi by LunarLich (@nerendus) [KosxMaria] - goes hard man. idk where to begin to discuss it. The way Kos has a pre-emptive interest in Maria (haunting her mind) and the scene where Maria finds the Orphan in the corpse and Kos takes over to touch him one last time. Kos giving Maria an "out" but also Maria digging her own grave. There are so many details and symbolism and just urgh so good. Everyone knowing something is Wrong with her but no one knows/does anything about it.
lamprey by particulate - the atmosphere in this one is unmatched. The way everything feels slimy and gross and wet. Maria being a Sad Distraught Byronic Hero misplaced from some Victorian Romantic film, Gehrman Not Getting Her, Micolash being Micolash :/. Some details are very big oof.
Come, Let's Away to Prison by captainjackspearow is perhaps the first fic to make me consider the Gehrman+Maria Kos+Orphan and Moon Presence+Gehrman parallels in a serious light. Pity them both ngl.
Facile Oceanum by 0plus2equals1 [KosxMaria] is one I think of a lot. This one is so poetic and the description of the imagery is so vivid. And very dreamlike. OP also wrote some interesting Hunter/Annalise fic if I'm recalling correctly.
Ave Maria by xeboot is a Doll meeting Maria fic and one I keep thinking about a lot. Love the unsettling vibes from the Doll here, and the very dream-like logic going on.
Water Makes Many Beds by kiyaar is a Maria-character study and how she lived during the latter stages of her life. Really like the detail that she's contemplating suicide long before she actually takes the shot figuratively speaking.
How do you solve a problem like Maria? by Mosslynx (@pumpkaaboo) has my favorite depiction of the Hunter protagonist of Bloodborne. It is as inquisitive and strange and intellectual as I expect the Hunter to be. Also really like how the Doll is written, as all the references to the world outside of Yharnam being set at least decades after Bloodborne's in-game setting. The mystery of who is this mysterious Hunter is so well thought out.
waves by thalassashells is another character study. This one is a lot shorter, but man I am a sucker for imagery for fics in this fandom.
Ask me again when I start reading fics about other characters.

I'm relatively new to ORV, I got into it a while back and then ran out of time to continue (the novel is long AF lol) but as I'm getting back into it, I've realized that ORV is one of the most main character centric fandoms I have ever encountered before.
And tbh I think that's why I've been having so many issues getting invested in ORV fanworks. Specifically shipping ones. It's super rare for me because usually I love reading fanfics.
Before I start talking about my thoughts I just wanna make a disclaimer that I'm not trying to attack anyone. You should interact with media and create stuff however you wish to! Lord knows that I'm not exactly unbiased about my blorbos (I would die for them and you can tell from my posts) but I just kinda wanna talk about this because it's such a unique experience. Never before have I encountered a fandom that is so centered on one character.
Like I hope y'all know what I'm talking about and that I'm not just talking out of my ass. Everything in the ORV fandom is super Kim Dokja centric. On one hand, I really do get it, he's a great character. He's not my favourite character but he's a lil rat bastard and I think he's so fucking neat. And how centred the storyline and moreover the people in the story are on Kim Dokja is to a certain extent, canon. He's their leader and also the person keeping them safe. He's the one who reached out in their darkest moments and pulled them to the light. And he's a traumatized little bitch. Oof. A certain amount of hero worship and protectiveness is valid.
What I can't really wrap my head around though, is the lack of development between other members of the group in a lot of fanworks. This is specifically fandom interpretations of the characters btw, I haven't finished the story fully, so I can't speak on how they are canonically but I have seen people's stories and thoughts. And this isn't always the case of course, I have read fics before where our protagonists all appear to have relations with each other outside of their care for Dokja but it... wasn't as much as I was expecting. Which is weird to me because ORV is super good at writing like. Well written and thought out characters that would be super fun to play with in writing. In developing connections and care for each other - creating a found family. At the beginning they're all tied in by the need for survival and circumstance, they don't even necessarily like each other, and so of course they all gravitate to Dokja, that's to be expected, that's who they're familiar with. But eventually I expect they would learn to care about each other too, y'know? It's difficult to not get to know each other when you're living together daily, fighting alongside each other to survive. I don't believe that they wouldn't develop care for the other members of the group, and people who care about each other don't tend to genuinely threaten each other anytime Dokja gets hurt, especially when it's not anyone's fault - like usually it's in response to one of them "not doing enough to protect him" which makes no sense to me. You don't guilt trip people you care about for things outside their control. Moreover, Dokja is his own person - he will do what he will do and you can try and prevent it because you care about him, sure, but it's also unreasonable for others to expect anyone to be his keeper enough that they get angry when Dokja gets hurt due to his own actions or to situations outside of their control. People in general also don't have their entire character and world centered on loving one person. There are fics I've read where all the characters don't even seem to have any hobbies outside of spending time with Dokja, and I say this because they all literally fight, tooth and nail, over Dokja's time. It feels out of character to me. And yet this characterization is also so common???
I don't usually mind fics that so clearly have a bias towards one character because it's valid to write what you wanna see, but I think it's how saturated the fandom is with those types of works that makes me feel weird. It makes me stop seeing all the characters as individuals in their own right. Having no wants or needs or hobbies outside of Dokja makes it seem like they're just accessories to the story of Dokja's life. The story itself becomes less compelling to me, because it becomes less of a narrative of how Dokja has helped these people and their responses, and more of a world that bends over backwards to worship this one character, using all the other characters as tools to do so. Because if this is meant to convey gratitude and love, its illogical to how it usually works. Specifically in that, you don't lose your own identity or your connections to other people because of it. And I find it hard to interact with this level of saturation of those tropes because at a certain point, I start losing sight of the canonical writing of these individual characters as their own people. I start losing the idea I have in my mind of their canonical personalities. And I don't like that feeling. And because Dokja also isn't my favourite character in this story - I still like him, don't get me wrong - I start feeling indignant on the behalf of all the other characters that are not getting development BC of the concentration on Dokja.
I also don't like it when the banter goes away. Like you can care about people and still enjoy messing with them, I'm not sure why caring about dokja translates to hero worship??? I annoy my friends all the time, and they do it back. It's fun. Like that thing the group does where they can't see Dokja's face and just unanimously decide to tell him he looks bad when he asks about it? That's peak friendship. Peak messing with your sibling energy. As far as I've seen Dokja isn't self conscious about that either (then again I haven't read the entire story yet), so like. What gives? It's canonical that they mess with Dokja - but a lot of fics just get rid of that element.
I also find it especially hard when it comes to shipping, specifically Joonghyuk and Dokja. The reason why I love Joonghyuk and Dokja's dynamic so much in the first place is because they view each other as equals. It would be very easy to place either Joonghyuk or Dokja onto a pedestal - but they don't do that to each other. They know each other pretty damn well and they care about each other even though they're so in denial about it. And you know that thing they do where they act like the other is the worst person in existence and then negates it all by repeatedly devoting themselves to saving them? That's my shit. That whole "you're so fucking annoying but if you died I would kill everything in this room and then myself." The whole "what was that?" "Affection." "Disgusting. Do it again." THAT SHIT. I love that about them. And like the platonic relationships, a lot of shipping works get rid of that type of banter when they shift to a romantic relationship. Like yeah, sweet talk and honesty is important. You should let your partner know you love them. But that's not gonna be all there is. I don't see a need to get rid of the banter because as the story goes on, it's clear that even in canon, eventually the harsh words they say to each other stop being genuine because their actions negate the words. They don't mean them in the first place, so why would that banter change once their care shifts from a platonic to a romantic one? And I could perhaps be okay with that shift from banter to sweet talk if it was MUTUAL, but too often I see a situation where Dokja continues to insult Joonghyuk but he doesn't return it in kind. Joonghyuk is very blunt about his love for Dokja - which is good - but Dokja doesn't do the same back, and for some reason that's fine, and then Joonghyuk also no longer has those very human moments of annoyance when Dokja does some stupid shit. Like I guess I could understand the characterization of Dokja being emotionally constipated cause he's kind of a traumatized control freak and I can see how getting him to talk about his feelings is like trying to get a cat into a bathtub, but it's not like Joonghyuk isn't also like that? It's not really as much of a compelling relationship if one person is telling the other everything, giving care in words of affection and the other person isn't returning it. And you could depict that returned care in other ways, absolutely, but again I don't see it in other ways either, because those stories are still so Dokja centric.
Another factor is that I find that I can't really like a ship in a work where one of the characters is elevated to a point where they can't do anything wrong. Where their own needs are always at the forefront and their partner is always catering to it. Like a relationship is a give and take. We focus a lot on Dokja's trauma - which I love, that man needs sO MUCH THERAPY and it's an interesting topic to explore - but we don't focus on the amount of shit Joonghyuk has had to go through. I very rarely see a shipping fic where Dokja tries to address Joonghyuk's trauma or his hurt. Physical hurt sure, maybe, but that other shit that Joonghyuk bottles up?? Never talked about. My man has had to keep living lives over and over again. Has had to see people he love die, make hard choices. There is no way he's not traumatized to shit, and I'd like that to be a focus some of the time, y'know? Moreover, of all people, Dokja would be the one to understand him the most? One, he's the only one who really knows the whole truth about Joonghyuk, or as much of it as you can, and two, they both have taken on very burdensome leadership roles in a situation where few would be able to understand their position - it makes sense for them to lean on each other mutually, and so far there's a very prominent skew, only an exploration on one side.
And I pretty much haven't seen a shipping fic with Dokja and Joonghyuk where Joonghyuk has recieved any form of platonic comfort from the other characters. I've seen plenty for Dokja. Where he gets comforted/helped by both Joonghyuk and all the other characters. But not for Joonghyuk. If y'all have any recs where Joonghyuk has that, PLEASE recommend it because I need. And sure, it can be argued that Joonghyuk is a hard man to know considering his prickliness but regardless, he DOES have canonical platonic relationships. People who care for him. Who would be protective over him if he were to get hurt. That is not something only Dokja has, and yet it's something I only ever see written for Dokja. Y'all need to remember that technically Dokja doesn't act like any less of an asshole sometimes than Joonghyuk. He's more outwardly approachable sure, but he's not necessarily sweet 100% of the time - he has grit and he's a rat bastard and that's my FAVOURITE FUCKING PART ABOUT HIM. The fact that he's a rat bastard and the fact that not everyone likes him. His interactions in a world where he does have to make hard choices or say things that put people at odds, or hurts others when he didn't mean to. I love that about Joonghyuk too. They suck and they both have so much capacity to be kind despite all the shit they've gone through, but they're not able to see that in themselves and they do bad things because they have to, and I think they're so fascinating.
Y'know out of all of this, I think what cracks me up is, knowing Dokja's character, he would be absolutely appalled at how centred all of it is on him only. Like. Like that's literally the opposite of what he wants 🤣🤣. Like I get that makes people want to do it more because he deserves it and whatnot which is valid but like. He would be quite disgruntled 🤣🤣🤣

20 Questions More
This is a deeper and more detailed version of the 20 questions for AO3 fanfic writers. @nottawriter hit me with a tag, I have been attacked lol.
1) How do you keep getting ideas for your ship / fandom? A dash of shower thoughts, with a pinch of I watched a movie and couldn't help but think... Yes, that will work. They often feel like the come from nowhere.
2) Which authors inspire you in your fandom, and why are they so freakishly good? That's not fair how dare you ask me this!!!! Uhhh I'm mostly reading Supercorp stuff these days sooo... @jazzfordshire, @mycatismyeditor, @fazedlight, @innamorament0, @scribblingpunk, @fyonahmacnally to name a few. AAAAND my co-author and a vast array of things @tomatopudding! Why? Idk, I just get drawn a lot to these works and think they're lovely, and I love their depictions of these characters I love.... with @tomatopudding we just vibe very well, sharing the same five brain cells helps.
3) Aside from the characters of your main ship, who are the characters you love to write? If we're talking Supergirl... That's so hard, but I might have to say Brainy and Nia if really pressed... and Alex. I really enjoy Alex.
Otherwise, my other faves include all of the Les Amis from Les Miserables (if you know you know), specifically Courfeyrac and Marius and their hilarious dynamic. Other faves include Eliza Schuyler-Hamilton, Eponine Thenardier and... This could go on for a very long time, are you sure you have time?
4) Are there pairings or tropes you know for sure you’d never write about? Which ones? Not putting Kara and Lena together just makes me sad... So Supercorp ftw all the way, they are my top (I am a lot more amenable in other fandoms I've written for)
Tropes... I'm unlikely to do Omega-verse, I haven't done it and I can't see myself starting even if I sometimes read it.
5) What is your writing process and why is it cursed?
When I worked in retail I wrote on stupid little scraps and probably lost about 75% of them. Sometimes the method is hand writing, and then typing and making edits during that process as well. The handwritten can vary drastically from the typed draft lol.
I tend to fly by the seat of my pants unless someone is keeping me in line. I'm pretty darn chaotic.
I doubt myself a lot, so I always think whatever I write is garbage no matter how much proof there is that's not true. Also, sometimes I get burnt out, or my muse dies and then I feel terrible. Yay.
6) What is your favorite part of your writing process? Falling down rabbit holes, looking into fun topics. Likely ending up on a government watch list for the stuff I've searched up over the years
7) What’s the weirdest thing you’ve had to research for a fic? Uhhh.... hmm. I have no idea what the weirdest is lol. Cause it's on my mind, probably looking up what types of wood are easiest to chop, and why. (There is definitely weirder, but I don't remember right now).
8) Is there a particular writing rule you struggle with (grammar, spelling, tense, reality in general)? Commas. They hate me, and I hate them.
9) What was your hardest scene to write so far and why? Oof. Uhhh... This is so hard! Honestly there is a lot of stuff in my co-written very long series Hamilton Family Album that was *a lot* between research and feels.
Especially when you're co-author hits you with unexpected feels out of nowhere that you weren't anticipating (YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID).
10) Have your characters ever done something you didn’t expect, changing your plot completely? Of course, they have. It happens all the time.
11) If you could converse with any of the characters, who would it be and why? Ohhh... Hands down Kara and Lena, I wish they could be my friends and we could hang out. Why? I think that they are absolutely incredible, wonderful and I could just sing their praises for ever.
12) What are some of the tropes or themes that you find yourself returning to in your writing? Oooo, I'm a sucker for fluffy romances, and I've been dabbling in smut recently. Other themes for me can be like found family is a really popular one for me.
Since I've written both a lot of Les Mis and Hamilton stuff (among other similar things) I've done a lot of "Modern AU's" as well, which are uhhh varied to say the least. If I can treat anything they way the treat most Shakespeare pieces these days I do it.
13) What’s your most important resource as a writer? Asking for help! Soundboarding with other writers, I love doing it. It helps me make sense of my ideas... Or decide they're maybe too out there (almost never lol)
14) Can you share some of your strategies for editing and revising your work? Reading it out loud, I have a hard time noticing errors otherwise. Asking someone you trust to look it over as well, take your time and double and triple check if you're unsure about something.
15) Which is worse: making the summary, picking the tags, or the anxiety when you post your fic? D. All of the Above
16) How do you define success for your fanfic - hits? Kudos? Comments? Bookmarks? Or just if you like it? I try to just write for myself, usually because I haven't seen something like it and think it should exist. I do really enjoy getting comments if only because I'm always curious to hear what readers think about my work.
17) Do you have a playlist for your favorite character / ship? I don't, and if I did it would be odd... I'm the most massive theater nerd. I do have songs that I think fit the vibes, and some shows I listen to have more apt things than others. Or if it's Les Mis it's the whole dang album lol.
Supercorp things if anyone is curious (and wondering how odd it could get): Mercury Rising from Lizzie, Come Home With Me, Anyway the Wind Blows, Wait for Me and Wedding Song from Hadestown, In A Crowd of Thousands from Anastasia, Origin of Love from Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Maybe I introduced you to something fun today.
18) If fan art was going to be made from your work, which fic would you pick and which fan artist would you like to create it? Oh dear... I don't know. The thing I'd love to see art for isn't up yet and I just think it would be fun but it will be called What Was I Made For... And we're gonna leave at that for now.
19) How many WIPs do you currently have? I'm finishing up You've Got New Followers (One chapter left!), I think three other WIP's (two more plotted than others) and my WIP for May-Hem... So five?
20) What’s your advice to new fanfic writers? Don't be afraid just because you've never done it before. That's why fanfic is amazing. You can do what you want and in reality no one can stop you, just make sure you're having fun.

20 Questions for Fic Writers
Thanks for the tag @grexigone! n.n
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
33 as of Nov. 15, 2023
2. What's your total A03 word count?
135,824 words
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Only Horizon (Zero Dawn/Forbidden West) for now.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
To Know Peace: 103 kudos (Rated T) - First longfic
Live for the Night: 88 kudos (Rated E) - First smut fic
Bonding Moments: 83 kudos (Rated G) - Companion vignettes fic for To Know Peace
Devotion: 79 kudos (Rated E) - Kinktober 2023 drabbles collection
Visual Delights: 77 kudos (Rated E) - Fun, smutty 5+1 oneshot
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I do! Comments mean that someone took the time to read my fic and something stuck with them enough to tell me about it. It makes me feel appreciated, and I want my readers to feel appreciated in turn. :3
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Oof, probably Shadowed Heart, which is my first rare pair fic (Fashav/Ritakka). I promise to give them a happier ending in my series.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I'd say To Know Peace has the happiest ending so far.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
I got a couple of comments on Bonding Moments about some choices I'd made that rubbed me the wrong way, but I haven't gotten hate publicly or privately. I think it helps that Horizon is still relatively small in the fanfic/fanart space and I don't share my ship-specific fics on the subreddit for the games.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do and I have no shame, hehe. It's mostly M/F and very light on kinks. Other than my Kinktober drabbles, the raunchiest fic I've written is Early Exit.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
No crossovers. They're kinda tricky to get right.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
To my knowledge, no, but I haven't checked FF.net or Wattpad to confirm.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope. Spanish is my native language, but I have no plans to translate my fics from English to Spanish.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
@jadefyre and I have a smut fic in the works that we started earlier this year. Also, not co-written but @murmart made a beautiful art of Fashav/Ritakka for my fic Heavy in Your Arms. :3
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
Definitely Aloy/Kotallo. Not only did seeing their dynamic and conjuring up ship possibilities get me to write again after a long hiatus, but it's also allowed me to become part of a community of amazing creators both in the Kotaloy Elysium Discord server and beyond. n.n
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I don't necessarily think I'll leave any of my WIPs unfinished, but some are a little more complicated than others in terms of getting them to meet my own standards (yeah, I'm my harshest critic).
With longfics, I've since learned to write until completion and then start posting, only because I don't enjoy the self-imposed pressure to update something that's already out there since life can be really uncertain at times.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue! It takes me such a long time, but I love nailing the voices of the characters correctly and having readers comment on that and their characterization. However, I do find speeches a bit cumbersome to write because every word has so much weight to them, even though I do enjoy the end result.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I struggle with describing environments/settings, because I never know if I'm being descriptive enough to paint a full picture for the reader.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I think if it's a few sentences here and there is fine, but anything else might make it inaccessible to part of the readership unless it's stated in the author's note that the fic will feature two or more different languages.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Horizon, though I wrote a (thankfully never published) fic for Final Fantasy VII when I was around 13 years-old; trust me, it wasn't good and I still cringe thinking about the plot. HOWEVER, I miss that feeling of writing without caring about the end result, of just having a deluge of words on paper with a somewhat coherent narrative thread.
20. Favorite fic you've ever written?
It's hard to pick only one because all of my fics are special in their own way, but I'll go with Hurricane Drunk because I had so much fun describing Kotallo being drunk and struggling with confessing his feelings for Aloy in a humorous way.
Tagging @setavvo, @fogsblue, @hannahmationstudios, @destinysembrace-oblivion and @mwasaw. (No pressure! Only if you want to).

I got tagged by the wonderful @cinnamontails-ff to talk about fanfic so let's go
1) How many works do you have on AO3? 33 apparently? Damn, that's actually way more than I thought okay okay.
2) What’s your total AO3 word count? 198,622 (that's hilariously low again when looking at the amount of works)
3) What fandoms do you write for? BG3 currently, I used to write a lot for CR and Detroit Evolution
4) What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Arms unfolding (Critical Role, Caleb/Essek)
Uselessly devoted (Critical Role, Caleb/Jester)
Something small (Critical Role, Dorian/Dariax)
Three is company (Critical Role, Caleb/Jester/Essek)
The one that got away (BG3, Astarion/Tav)
5) Do you respond to comments? I try to, I really love getting comments and having little conversations with everyone but I'm also terrible with keeping up with my email notifications.
6) What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? Wrong place, wrong time (Detroit Evolution, Nines/Gavin)
7) What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? I almost always write happy endings honestly.. Tell her a story (tell her the honest truth) (Detroit Evolution, Ada/North) maybe?
8) Do you get hate on fics? I don't think I've ever had straight up hate, no.
9) Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Yes, I'm very much a smutty oneshot writer, who occasionally branches out. What kind of smut? I don't know? Nothing extremely. Mainly F/M. The consensual kind. Good communication is a recurring topic. One of my most used tags is probably "dom/sub undertones"
10) Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? I don't have any crossovers up and I don't plan on writing any. The most idiotic fic I have up on AO3 is a fanfic based on the google translate butchered script of Detroit Evolution called Camp Cyberlife (Anatomy) that I fully just wrote as a joke for a couple of friends.
11) Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not that I'm aware.
12) Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope.
13) Have you ever co-written a fic before? Also no.
14) What’s your all time favorite ship? My all time favourite ship is Will/Elizabeth from PotC, but I don't read or write about that, they just live in my brain forever.
15) What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? I have a WIP still up for a Detroit Evolution fic that I haven't touched in literal years, that I recently got a comment on. I reread it and now I personally am pissed at myself for never finishing it because it ends on a cliffhanger and I don't even remember what was supposed to happen.
16) What are your writing strengths? The thing I've been complimented on most across all fandoms is characterisation. I take a lot of care finding the voice of the characters I write, and from people's reactions that seems to work very well.
17) What are your writing weaknesses? Pacing. Pacing is hard.
18) Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I think it's hard to not have it be confusing. I've thrown in a few words in a different language here and there a few times, but never more than that. I think there's definitely a place for it but it's hard to do it well.
19) First fandom you wrote for? Oof, um. I think that somewhere in the dephts of ff.net there's still a fic of mine for the shadowhunters universe that exists.
20) Favorite fic you’ve written? Recently probably The one that got away. That one is a little special to me because the Tav in there is a character very near and dear to my heart. Besides that I'm actually really really enjoying working on my current multichapter (with the most obnoxiously long title) High heeled heroes & reluctantly righteous rogues (BG3, Astarion/Tav).

Tag Game to Better Know You
Send this to people you’d like to know better!
Tagged by @lilredghost, thank you :D
What book are you currently reading? oof honestly, i'm not reading anything right now :( i'm very busy with silly lil fanfic writing instead which is probably the definition of brainrot, but it is time consuming
What’s your favorite movie you saw in theaters this year? i've...only seen one movie in theaters since COVID-19, and that was actually last month when i went to go see the second black panther. it was good but like. really long. 2 hours and 45 minutes is too long for any movie i said what i said
What do you usually wear? hm i have one pair of jeans i love and wear a lot! and one pair of office pants i also like. and then a lot of shirts. and some cute dresses, but that's more of a summer thing
How tall are you? 5’6”? 5'7"? I haven't been to the doctor since 2016 and I have not measured myself independently.
What’s your Star Sign? Do you share a birthday with a celebrity or a historical event? Aquarius :> and my birthday is Mozart's birthday! that's the only one I know! I can't even play piano :D
Do you go by your name or a nickname? Kit is my nickname! but i do go by it in real life, though most people think i say Kim and i usually do not correct them
Did you grow up to become what you wanted to be when you were a child? i don't think im done growing up (maybe if i went to the doctor, they would tell me differently idk)
Are you in a relationship? If not, who is your crush if you have one? That one tumblr post: "not in a relationship, not aromantic, but a secret third thing. unwanted ;) "
What’s something you’re good at vs. something you’re bad at? im pretty good at writing but im pretty bad at using commas correctly
Dogs or cats? dogs :>
If you draw/write or create in any way, what’s your favorite picture/line/etc from something you created this year? i do write!! but actually one of my favorite things i've made this year is a painting i did for a friend as a goodbye present. a little 5x7 canvas of a sunrise over some cherry blossoms
(and also i can't think of a quote i've written this year and i'm too lazy to find one)
What’s something you would like to create content for? me, one day lol
What’s something you’re currently obsessed with? ack, gotta say star wars. but also gotta say cooked octopus. it's the moment. oh and toast and trader joe's tomato and red pepper soup.
What’s something you were excited about that turned out to be disappointing this year? umm i had a really nice vacation planned with friends i haven't seen for ages, but i had to leave early cause there was a family emergency thing which sorta sucked (for my family mostly)
What’s a hidden talent of yours? oh im really good at cutting a circular object into perfect eighths. or fourths! a weird superpower
Are you religious? my dad told me once that there's got to be something out there that makes the leaves so green in the spring and he calls it Big Ernie. he's a hippie but he might be onto something
What’s something you wish to have at this moment? a new keyboard im this close to snapping at all the times i hit a key once and suddenly have 5 extra letters. >:(
ack i feel like i've seen these around but also i can't remember if i have, so feel free to ignore this tag: @ellie-you-idiot @kdm103020 @demondean-writes @sweet-cynic @kittonafoxgirl @bi-wan @obiwan @mysticmjolnir

B, M, P, R, T, U, and V 💕
shelllllly! love you!
B: Any of your stories inspired by personal experience?
not too many! most of my fics are inspired by something else i've seen/read/listened to instead of my own life lol. without you i'm drifting on is probs the most personal with the angst, and i could get used to this is most personal with the fun! also sorta right this way, because i just freaking love Bandstand and found those parallels so easily
M: Got any premises on the back burner that you’d care to share?
answered here, but another one i know you're anxious for is Healer!Adam au, where adam is also atypical and has a healing power. lots of random ideas, nothing solid for that one (except for the beginning lol)
P: Are you what George R. R. Martin would call an “architect” or a “gardener”? (How much do you plan in advance, versus letting the story unfold as you go?)
oof, it depends! i tend to have a vague idea of what i want to happen (the big thing) but then how i get there is usually determined by the characters/what ends up happening when i'm writing! that's how i thought i was innocent (but there is blood all on my hands) ended up being 3 chapters instead of 2, and how i miss the days when grew to be almost 15k!
R: Are there any writers (fanfic or otherwise) you consider an influence?
definitely you! any time i come up with a good metaphor i think of you <3 but also I think just any of my favorite YA authors, who write fast-paced but also emotional books (like Sabaa Tahir or Leigh Bardugo) influence me. anything i enjoy becomes a sort of an influence, but i'm not sure i could pick out anything in particular i try to emulate?
T: Any fandom tropes you can’t stand?
answered here, but to go along with that, accidental pregnancy. i just don't care for it at all (though i don't mind the occasional accidental baby acquisition if it's done right)
U: Share three of your favorite fic writers and why you like them so much.
(not counting you, though you are absolutely one of my favs)
@pink-flame her writing is such a good mix of emotions and crazy things happening! also the ability to finish long fics? i envy it! (shh i know she hasn't finished all of them that's okay we love her because we understand)
@pawprinterfanfic listen, i still haven't caught up on the willex star wars au, but HOLY CRAP THIS GIRL'S FICS ARE SOOOOO GOOD!!! also long fics that sustain me forever, it's amazing! the amount of Bellarke this girl has written is insane, and the emotion behind everything is soooo good!
and I CANNOT REMEMBER THEIR TUMBLR THIS IS GONNA BOTHER ME!!!!! but they wrote the amazing juke winter fic called the lucky one (i think it might be you), and also this series about 5 times _ happened. i just love their writing so much!!!! UPDATE IT’S @tangledstarlight THE LEGEND!!!!
V: If you could write the sequel (or prequel) to any fic out there not written by yourself, which would you choose?
listen. this one is one of my favorites so i don't know if i would actually want a sequel to it. but. light my heart and light my shadow. i want to see the emotional fallout sooooo bad!! and like, would it result in caleb telling adam about his powerup sooner? because it might force a conversation earlier? or would things have gotten even more strained between them, and caleb almost doesn't call adam when ben goes missing because he doesn't want to open that can of worms again? i don't know!!!
send me fanfic asks!

Hi! Sorry to bother you if it’s annoying. I just read Axioms End and I’ve always had a love for monster or alien romance but the best I’ve found before was alien barbarians. Do you have any recommendations? I noticed you reviewed something with a cool spider monster so I figured you had some less humanoid ones (don’t mind smut but happy to have it if you have the recs!)
Not annoying, I love getting asks! :} I'm actually working on a recommendation/review list of terato novels/novellas but I don't quite have enough on the list to post it yet, so I'm afraid I may not have many recs for monster and alien lovin' novels juuust yet :{ Axiom's End is my fav tho!! It has a sequel if you haven't read it yet; tho the sequel is 10x sadder than the 1st, and book 3 is set to release next yr
Otherwise the only other books I have on my list (that I liked) are the Shape of Water tie-in novel (hit or miss for readers imo), and then The Mabon Feast (Wheel of the Year #1) which is the spider one you mentioned. But unfortunately Mabon Feast is a novella and not a full novel so you can read it in one short sitting. That author, C.M. Nascosta, has other smutty books with monsters but I haven't read them, and they may be just as short. Idk if she has anything that's just romance sans the smut, either. But I liked her writing style and characterizations, so you could check her out to see if she has anything else you might like!
Those are just published works though, there's lots of great non-human romance short stories published for free online, like here on Tumblr! A lot of these tend to be NSFW and are novella-length or shorter, but even the authors known for NSFW content tend to have a fluffy SFW piece here and there.
Snowkissedmonsters has some fun, well-written stuff you can read on her Tumblr!
I know momosmonsters is also popular, though it’s been a long time since I read any of hers.
I have original works I share here, too.
Then there's actually a terato tag on AO3 where some people post their original works (me included)- but you might find some fandom fics mixed in.
There are also fandoms that lead towards terato shipping, which depending on the fandom may not be everyone's cup of tea, but I think are at least worth noting just in case. Fandoms can be fun places to find non-human romance, both fluff and smut, outside of traditionally published works and original fiction. The only issue is, if you’re not really into the fandom/characters, it bars you from enjoying them.
Half Life VR but the AI is Self Aware, for any ships related to Benry and Tommy, because those two are depicted as non-human (often monstrous, alien, or multi-dimensional). Benry is usually shipped with Gordan ("Frenry")
Subnautica, particularly Subnautica Below Zero (Subnautica's sequel), has an alien called AL-AN that the character talks to the whole game and whose body they build near the end. Fanfics shipping AL-AN and the main character Robin are huge terato vibes. (SPOILERS) He's basically an alien centaur and there's a line near the end that can be interrupted as romantic towards the character.
A recent personal fav of mine is from Five Nights at Freddy's: Security Breach, for the character of the Daycare Attendant (Sun and Moon). They're two robot jesters sharing a body, and are very popular with reader-insert writers. I’d recommend Bamsara’s fanfics for them, they’re QPP and SFW. QPP relationships with non-human characters aren’t explored a whole lot in monster communities, so Bam’s work is really fun to read in that regard, including their other fandom fics.
Someone will kill me for this because oof cringe but Undertale. Sans/reader fanfics are popular, and some are pretty entertaining, even if you’re not really that into Sans. Skeletons aren’t exactly a monster hugely popular in terato circles, so skeleton content is lacking, meaning if you’re looking for it the Undertale fandom fanfics deliver. There’s also... weirdly a lot of A/B/O fanfics for him?
Portal fandom offers two flavors of robot-romance; Chell/GLaDOS and Chell/Wheatley. Both are pretty different. Portal fandom has the benefit of having the fic “Blue Sky,” a Chell/Wheatley fanfic that reads like a professional novel and used to be ultra-popular in the 2010s.
Venom has some interesting fanfics. I could never seem to find one that really captured and enthralled me, though... but if anyone is ever looking for er, Venom smut, it’s there...
I hope to read more published books for my list soon, that way I can review more and recommend them!! Until then Axiom’s End is still top-tier imo for it’s weird/fun aliens and deeper storyline, there are lots of original writers you can thumb through on Tumblr & AO3, and fandoms can also help tide you over when you can’t find original fiction to get into.
In lieu of novel suggestions, I have a list of rated films scored for their terato aspect.
Sorry if not super helpful, but thanks for the ask!

From this ask game:
What's a trope you will never write?
Never say never. I can think of ones that I have (so far) never thought up a scenario for, but there aren't any that are flat-out a huge NO.
If you'd asked me a year ago, I would have said 'Reader Fic' and meant it.
I like to write characters in character, personally, so that can limit which behaviors and tropes fit with them. I'm...not great at AUs. Probably won't ever write a high school AU, but I'll read 'em. Probably won't write hardcore kink, but I'll read it. Personally not into tattoos. Personally not into motorcycles/bikers/mob stuff. I still read all that. I actually quite like to read things that I have no interest in writing some version of. Leaves a nice separation for me to enjoy without thinking up my own plot stuff on the side.
M/M and F/F? Haven't written much and I'm a bit afraid to, even though I started by reading lemon/gay fanfic nearly....twenty years ago and I am a bisexual woman. I don't know, so far that feels like I'd be stepping out of my lane. 😔
I've noticed that I tend to take the long way through emotions which means I can't really write a pairing just immediately intimate and developed in their preferences; I gotta build all the way up to it. There's so much f***ing communication in my writing, it's almost sickening. Be the change you want to see in fic.
One of the things I'm doing with the Fools Rush In series is using several tropes in different ways. For example: soul marks but they seem to be on the wrong people. Another example: sex pollen but the wrong people are trapped together. Then starts my giant slog through emotions and communication. Kinda like how Fondue was about how Steve Rogers had a lot more holding him back from intimacy than just being a man out of time. It's hard to consider how much struggle that might put partners through...so I did it anyway.
There is only one fic I ever read that I noped out of so hard I almost tossed my laptop off the bed. It was rape/noncon and a breeding kink, however, the line crossed for me was that it was brainwashed Bucky as the Winter Soldier but Winter was actually speaking to and gaslighting the girl. And I'm SORRY--not to be a judge bitch--but Winter has no capacity to act on his own. I find the idea that Winter would be openly enjoying raping someone repulsive as well as unbelievable. And that's crazy for me, too, because I've read plenty of dark fic; I have no idea why that one specifically jumped over my line in the sand. It just did.
So that--that right there--is the only thing I can swear I will never write.
(OOF. That escalated. Sorry for the ramble!)

🍢 Have you ever gotten hate on a fic?
🍣 What helps you focus or get in the mood to write?
🍥 What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
✨ send me an emoji and ask me about my fanfic! ✨
🫓 : what is your most popular fic?
this is most certainly time takes no prisoners (you'll see). very much hands down, very much no contest lol 😅
🥘: what category do most of your fics fall under?
found family lol. what can i say. something about it does in fact hit different for me. i always want more and the brainrot is never ending and it's arguably not the most popular fic genre, so when i run out of content in the fandom of choice atm, i start making my own lol
🍛: have any comments, tags or reactions to one of your fics every made you laugh or cry or both?
well, yes, for starters, several of yours!! 💗 like when someone leaves a nice/heartfelt and/or detailed comment on my silly little fics i am quite LITERALLY screaming crying (and only metaphorically throwing up) about it. that shit does in fact mean the most to me and i wouldn't push myself to actually try and do things i don't feel very good at if people did not seem to want me to do it, so when people feel Some Type of Way after reading something i wrote that is the ultimate goal. i wouldn't write stuff if i didn't want whoever's reading it to connect with and remember it, so i connect just as much back when they do!
🍢 : have you ever gotten hate on a fic?
thankfully i actually haven't yet!
🍣 : what helps you focus or get in the mood to write?
oof tbh i think me being ~in the mood to write~ is controlled by the whims of deities interested only in toying with me 😭😭 ive learned that even if i am not exactly in the mood i have to just Do it. and eventually i will either stop bc im like wow everything i am writing right now absolutely sucks! or i will get into it and figure out a whole bunch of shit and write 5k words. there is basically no in between lmao
🍥 : what’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
this is also gonna have to be time takes no prisoners. it is kind of a big first fic for me- longest, first top gun fic, first fic to rly get comments or kudos, most chapters, fic i am the most proud of, first series based work, etc etc- and the story (though obviously not my own, as it IS just a retelling of largely canonical events i can't take any credit for) means the absolute world to me. it's probably going to wind up being my fanfic magnum opus lol. it is always gonna hold a special place in my heart. i just adore this fandom and these characters and i just akdhdjhfjfhf love everything about the whole mav-is-bradleys-dad shit and the by extension found-family-w-people-mav-knows shit. it is just major *chefs kiss* for me <3
if i needed to give a more creative answer in the pre ttnp timeline (bc that is how it feels sometimes lol. there is pre and post ttnp/top gun brainrot and nothing in between), i'd have probably said all this effort to make it look effortless, which was the first writing of any kind i had done since like 2018 or something idk. i wrote and posted it last year, not too long before i began to write ttnp (it was actually right before i saw tgm at all), and it's for the world's most obscure fandom and it's very very self indulgent and i rly did just write it for myself, there's like under 50 fics in that fandom and mine has less hits than that lol. but i was and am very proud of it! (tho w the hindsight of rereading i hate the formatting so much god learn to use paragraph breaks what is wrong with you aaaaaaa).

hello! this is the anon with the "u inspire me to write an self aware au". ive been thinking of making a seperate blog (bcus im planning to delete my current one soon, its a bit empty and i ended up not liking it) just for yandere and i really want to make a ramble post about yan self aware au with trickstar bcus i had this one idea that wont go away then tag u bcus again, u inspire me with ur writings. someday. im away from my current home and didnt bring my laptop cuz didnt expect to take long
Tumblr media
Hell yeah, go for it!! I'm really happy to hear that I was able to inspire you to write for the self-aware AU, that's some of the highest praise I could ever hope to get 😊💕
I wish you lots of success with your blog and may it be the creative outlet you want! And also, yes, definitely do feel free to tag me if/when you end up writing something! I'd love to read it ^^
And oooh Trickstar! I'm definitely interested in reading what you have to say about them! I've mentioned them in passing one or two times but I don't think I ever really did an indepth post about them. So please do feel free to share, I'll definitely be reading it when you post it 😊
And oof I feel that so bad with the laptop because funnily enough, I was in the exact same position for the last two months. I went to Belgium for 2 months and only packed a company laptop which I didn't want to use to write fanfic for obvious reasons ( I would also have to log in to the company VPN for internet to even work). So all I had the last two months to write was my phone, which wasn't really ideal 😅
It's one of the reasons why I haven't really been posting any writing recently, though I have typed up quite a bit for a pretty long post, though it's not for a fandom I've written for before. If you happen to be into Raincode, I guess you're in luck though 😌
I hope I can write and post some more when I'm back at home with my laptop. Hope you'll also be able to write soon ^^
And yes, rambling posts can be so fun, I love doing them to just get an idea out there in the world that I've been thinking about a lot but haven't written an elaborate piece for yet. It's also why I tend to prefer headcanon posts compared to fics, it allows me to just spill all the ideas and thoughts I have at once!
So to end this all of, please do share your works ( if you want to) once you've posted something ^^

Adventures in Auditory Agony
So I recently made a playlist of absolutely horrible music to drive around to, and the image of Ronan and Blue terrorizing the others with it popped into my head and refused to leave until I wrote this entirely self-indulgent fic to go along with the playlist. It’s v silly and also my first foray into writing TRC content, but...here we are.
Post-TRK/Pre-Epilogue Bronan friendship and gangsey shenanigans, rated T, read on ao3
In the week following Gansey’s graduation, something strange happened.
He hadn’t wanted to leave for a week, not when he was going to be leaving Henrietta so soon anyway. He’d disliked the plan even more when Maura had insisted Blue couldn’t go with him, that if she was going on this road trip with him and Henry, the Fox Way ladies needed to take advantage of every moment they had with her. Gansey couldn’t begrudge Maura time with her daughter, just as he couldn’t blame his own mother for wanting him to spend a little time with the rest of the Gansey clan before he took off again.
So he acquiesced to his mother’s demand-phrased-as-a-polite-request that he would spend a few days at home, on the condition that he could bring Adam along. Adam was even less thrilled than Gansey at the prospect of leaving Henrietta, especially when he knew Ronan wouldn’t come with them, especially especially when he remembered the last time he’d visited D.C. But Gansey desperately wanted company, and with Henry visiting his mother, Adam was the only option left, and he knew it. Besides, at Gansey’s suggestion, they’d added a few extra days for visiting some of the colleges Adam was applying to.
(Neither of them mentioned that the idea of some quality time together—just the two of them—before they each went their separate ways for the foreseeable future was an appealing one. They both thought it.)
The plan was met with mixed feelings by every party involved, but it went off without a hitch, and four family dinners, three college visits, two breakdowns in the Pig, and one emotional late-night heart to heart later, the two boys had returned to Henrietta.
For a while, Gansey noticed nothing amiss.
The first night back was a game night. As usual, Blue somehow managed to beat everyone at Super Smash Bros. despite passing up actually learning how to play in favor of smashing buttons at random. As usual, Adam was alarmingly good at Monopoly. As usual, Ronan got bored before they could finish a round and insisted on playing Cards Against Humanity instead. As usual, Gansey was terrible at every game but nonetheless seemed to have the most fun.
The next day was spent split off in pairs. Gansey spent some time at 300 Fox Way, helping out around the house and good-naturedly tasting Maura’s experimental teas before Blue got fed up with Orla, who was not in the least deterred from her usual flirtatiousness by the official nature of their relationship, and dragged him out of the house to 1) go for a drive, 2) make out in the back seat of the Pig, and 3) explore a local farmer’s market. The rest of the day was spent at Monmouth Manufacturing, though Adam and Ronan were nowhere to be seen. Ronan had been spending more nights at St. Agnes than Monmouth, though, so Gansey wasn’t surprised. All went as usual.
It was on his second full day back that Gansey realized something had happened during his week away.
After a lazy morning, everyone was gathered once more at Monmouth Manufacturing to go for a trip to the Barns. Ronan had volunteered to drive the BMW.
Adam and Gansey followed the other two as they headed out of the apartment, watching amusedly at the scene unfolding. Blue had thrown herself sideways into Ronan, and despite her size, she’d managed to knock him off balance for a moment.
“Hey, asshole, cut it out,” he growled, mussing the colorfully clipped mess of her hair affectionately.
Blue huffed and attempted to shove his hand away. He redoubled his efforts. She ducked away, but he followed, and it quickly escalated into a chaotic tussle.
“‘M gonna shave it all off,” came Blue’s muffled voice from behind Ronan’s arm, “just to spite you.”
Adam laughed. The sound made Gansey grin.
“I’d shave it for you if you asked nicely.”
“No way. It’s a punishment, not a reward.” By this time she had freed herself and was grinning breathlessly back at him as she jogged up to the Beemer.
Then Blue climbed in shotgun.
Ronan was unfazed by this. He hopped into the driver’s seat, and Gansey saw rather than heard him answering her quip.
Gansey, however, was not unfazed. And neither was Adam, if the slight frown and amused quirk of his lips when he turned to meet Gansey’s eyes was any indication.
Gansey could only shrug and follow Adam into the back seat.
Blue rode shotgun in the Camaro more frequently than Ronan or Adam did these days, and on the rare occasion that any of them ended up in Adam’s piece of shit car, she had as fair a shot as either of the others. But if Ronan was driving, it had always been Gansey or, more recently, Adam in the front. It wasn’t that Blue and Ronan weren’t close—they were just about as close now as any of them, and it made Gansey’s heart feel like it was swelling up three times it’s regular size, like the Grinch’s in the old cartoon he and Helen used to watch every December. But Blue had never attempted riding shotgun in the Beemer if either of the others were along, and Ronan had never asked her to, and something about it felt significant when she casually swung herself into the front seat.
It was practiced, Gansey realized as he buckled his seatbelt. It was easy. What had Ronan and Blue gotten up to while he and Adam were away?
He didn’t have to wonder long.
Ronan wordlessly tossed Blue his phone, and she hooked it up to the aux that he’d dreamt to work in the BMW. This, too, was practiced and easy. Blue even knew his phone password.
Just as they screeched out of the parking lot, some kind of music that Gansey could only call aggressive blasted through the speakers. It wasn’t the murder squash song, which he appreciated, but it also wasn’t all that much better. It was all angry electric music and yelling and loud, so loud, but Blue and Ronan were both yelling the words and head-banging, which he had never seen from either of them. It was so strange, he had to glance over at Adam for confirmation that he wasn’t hallucinating. Adam stared back at him wide-eyed.
For a while they only watched in silence, and Gansey almost felt as though he were intruding on some kind of private ritual until Blue turned and began to teasingly sing some of the lyrics of the next song—a horrible, upbeat electronic sounding one—at him. From the few lyrics he could understand, it was about carrying out a relationship over the phone. It was more than a little pointed, and he found himself blushing at some of the more explicit lyrics.
Some of his discomfort evaporated when she laughed delightedly at him and returned to dancing in her seat, replaced by fascination.
Finally, Adam broke in, yelling to be heard over the music, “Can someone please explain what is going on?”
Ronan met his eyes in the rearview mirror and shouted back, “We’re going to the Barns, Parrish. Where have you been?”
“Or do you just mean like, the state of the world today?” Blue asked, turning to face him. “Because you will not believe what’s going on with climate change.”
“I mean the state of my good ear, which is on the verge of becoming my other bad ear. The hell are we listening to?”
Blue lowered the volume just enough that they could speak without having to shout, warding off Ronan’s dirty look with one of her own. “Our playlist. I wanted to name it “emo to the excreamo,” but Ronan kept insisting on names that were objectively terrible and we couldn’t compromise so now it’s a sad nameless little playlist.”
“For the record, ‘songs to commit crimes to’ is the perfect name.”
“It doesn’t make sense! I can’t commit ecoterrorism while blasting Britney Spears.”
“Not with that attitude you can’t. You probably shouldn’t even fucking bother with the ecoterrorism if you aren’t gonna blast Britney Spears while you do it.”
Gansey’s head was spinning. “There’s Britney Spears on this playlist?”
“Obviously,” Blue shot back over her shoulder. It did not seem obvious to Gansey given that the current song was some kind of angry electric rock and that the playlist had been made by Ronan Lynch and Blue Sargent, but then again, nothing else about their current situation had seemed obvious to him ten minutes ago, either.
“I can’t blast anything as bop-worthy as Britney Spears, or I’ll get caught and then I won’t be able to commit more ecoterrorism.” This Blue directed at Ronan. “You must be a terrible criminal.”
“Fine. ‘Songs to get murdered to’ works just as well.”
Blue punched him in the arm. “That’s insensitive! Gansey’s been murdered!”
Ronan barked out a surprised laugh at that. “Yeah, by you and your kiss of death, Maggot.”
“For the record,” Gansey interjected, “Jane’s kiss of death was vastly preferable to the thousands of hornet stings.”
“What a compliment.” Adam raised an eyebrow and looked from Gansey to Blue.
Ronan snickered. “Congrats, Sargent. Kissing you is slightly better than getting stung to death.”
Blue’s reply was interrupted by the sound of “it’s Britney, bitch,” from the stereo, which sent her scrambling to set the volume to its previous ear-bleeding level.
They carried on like this for a while, Ronan pushing 20 over the speed limit and Blue scream-singing lyrics to songs that almost all had to do with sex, cars, or both. Gansey thought the one about a dreamer in a Beemer seemed a little on the nose, and sentiment Adam voiced moments later.
“I can’t help it if I’m someone’s muse,” came the reply. Blue snorted loudly, and Ronan reached over and pinched her on the exposed skin between the top of her knee socks and her ripped shorts. She slapped his hand and squirmed away.
At one point, Blue sang (if you could call it that, when it was really closer to talking or shouting but set to music) the intro to a song that began, “Hey you lil piss baby,” leaning across the center console to get in Ronan’s face, without missing a single word. In fact, Gansey realized, she knew at least some (if not most) of the words to all of these songs, and he wondered just how many times they’d listened to them together.
The fact that they had coordinated dance moves and established which of them sang specific parts when there were back and forth elements solidified for him that the answer was…many, many times.
This coordination was amusing for the most part. An amused smirk played across Adam’s lips as he watched their stupid dances, and Gansey was just ruminating on how happy and carefree both of them seemed, open in a way he rarely saw from either of them, when their performance jolted him out of his reverie.
Blue was moaning. Loudly.
It was part of the song, of course, the singer’s desire to — like rabbits, with a moan in place of an expletive, blaring over and over through the speakers. Ronan was singing along with the rest of the lyrics. Blue contributed the…interjectory sounds, and apparently took this role very seriously.
When her eyes, glinting mischievously, met his in the rearview mirror, he realized she was doing this on purpose. To mess with him. His mouth finally caught up to his brain, and he spluttered a scandalized, “Jane!”
She threw her head back and cackled gleefully. Ronan fist-bumped her. Gansey’s face felt hot.
“I think you’ve become a bad influence, Lynch,” Adam shouted, but he was failing to suppress his smile.
“If anything,” Ronan shot back, “Sargent’s been a bad influence on me. She’s the one that found most of these songs.”
Gansey wondered at that. He wondered all through the suggestive and outright explicit of the next song as well. He wondered at Blue’s ability to sing along without so much as a blush, all while he tried very hard not to think on any of the images his mind conjured up in response.
But of course, she was dauntless and outspoken in everything she did. He smiled at the mental image of her playing these songs for Ronan, ranting all the while about how women in media are sexualized for male gratification but expected to keep themselves modest and pure, the double-edged sword that is the masculine perception of female sexuality, and raging against the vilification of the women who wrote songs expressing that sexuality while men could objectify women in their song’s as much as they pleased. Gansey wished he could’ve been there for Ronan’s response.
None of that made the upbeat, electronic excuse for music any more aurally appealing, unfortunately.
One song ended with sudden bursts of horrid, metallic clashing sounds at a volume so painful that he, Adam, and even Blue covered their ears. She reached to lower the volume, but Ronan slapped her hand away.
“Come on, Ronan,” Gansey yelled, “this isn’t even music! It’s just…screeching!”
Ronan threw a wolfish grin at him over his shoulder. “I know. It sounds just like the Pig when she breaks down. Does it turn you on, Dick?”
Gansey let out a deep sigh, but before he could defend himself, the song had changed and Blue had let out a little excited yelp.
“I just remembered!” she gasped, grabbing for Ronan’s phone. “Henry gave me a song to play for you. You’re gonna love it.”
Ronan sneered. “I don’t trust Cheng’s taste in music.”
Blue only waved her hand dismissively and fiddled with his phone until a new song, not dissimilar in style to the rest, was playing. A few verses in, Adam began laughing, a full, joyous laugh rarely heard and positively contagious.
“It’s perfect for you, Ro,” he gasped out.
Ronan had to concede that a song about only answering the phone for your boyfriend’s personalized ringtone was rather fitting, even if Henry was the one to recommend it. He didn’t fight Blue when she added it to the playlist, and his threats following her announcement that she was making the song Adam’s ringtone were halfhearted at best.
Looking from Blue and Ronan’s bickering to Adam’s gasping laughter, Gansey tried to take in and file away every detail. He wanted to be able to look back on this moment when they were spread out across the country, to remind himself that the separation was only temporary. His chest felt like it was going to burst.
By the time they got to the Barns, it was his eardrums that felt like they were going to burst.
“Next time,” he groaned, stepping out of the car and into the Virginia summer heat, “I’m bringing ear plugs.”

Hello! I thought of a cute fanfic idea for Michael x reader. What if Michael and the reader work at Sister Location and they have to hide under the desk together? Thank you, keep up the good work! Have a good day/night :)
Thanks for the request :), I have 2 more Angst requests that I'm gonna write either tonight or when I slept (its 4am here lol) but Michael fluff is always wanted >:)
Warnings: tight space, bidybabs (those mfers haunt me in my Nightmares)
When I write these sorta long requests I listen to the ambience of the game we're talking about & it always gives me the creeps when I reread my own writing for mistakes 💀 (with the phone guy angst I listened to the classic Fazbear chime & legit felt like I'm being watched, dunno if any other horror writer has this xd)
I deadass replayed that Night just for accuracy here
I finished this at 5:15am so forgive me for wacky spelling or weird phrasing oof
The lights went off as Handunit informed both of you about the Situation, a slight panic rising in your chest. You turned to Michael, who seemed to have trouble finding his flashlight. "Oxygen?!" you whisper-shouted, furrowing your eyebrows. "Yeah, crazy innit? We're so deep down that they have to use artificial ways of getting enough into this place." he sounded so calm, as if he's had to do this before. You knew a little bit about him, at least what he was willing to tell you. For example that he mainly works for his father, and he was stuck in establishments similar to this one previously. The motion trigger went off, causing you to flinch slightly. Michael raised his eyebrow, turning around to shine the dim light to the vent both of you came from. "entry way? Nobody's supposed to be here at night." you crossed your arms, arching your brows. "oh really? Who would've thought?" the slight anger and fear in your voice was clear to him, although you were more mad at the system for being so wack. The voice spoke up again, this time telling you about the maintenance vents. Michael pinched his nosebridge in annoyance. "How is it possible that he can think of such technologies in Robots, but not make a stable system that the place runs on?" You chuckled quietly at his words, a image of who he was talking about coming up in your mind. His dad, William Afton. He talked about him before, but when you met him for the job application you instantly got goosebumps around him. Tall, lanky, that creepy smile. It all came together for the looks of a perfect serial killer in your opinion, and that comment made Michael laugh for a good bit when you shared those thoughts in the main office.
"seriously! I've never seen such a creepy dude before." you leaned back in your chair, taking a sip of water from the bottle that you brought with you. Michael was still laughing, the sound of which making your heart flutter. He wiped away a few tears that formed, sitting back up straight. "oh man, I haven't laughed like that in a while." he faced you, a gentle smile on his lips. "thanks."
Suddenly, another female started speaking, startling both of you. You faced Michael again, unsure of what to do. He looked like something wasn't the way he was told it's gonna be, however you quickly dismissed that thought. You opened your mouth to say something, but the horror took a hold of you. Why would you need to hide? You hesitated kneeling down to find the space, heartbeat picking up the pace. Michael however searched around the desk, pulling the heavy steel aside, revealing the hiding spot. "I don't like this Michael-" your voice was trembling, just like you. "come on, we don't have a choice." he turned his head to look at you, concern written all over his features. Slowly, you made your way into the tight space, making sure to not take up more than necessary. He took his place in next to you, almost sitting in front in a protective manner. Pulling the door shut, your ears began to ring. A deafening tone spreading through the small room, forcing you to grab Michael's arm in panic. 'Try not to make eye contact' it was, you feared whatever would be on the other side. He slid his hand down to your hand, grabbing it in a firm hold in an attempt to reassure you. You shared a look with eachother, his eyes soothing you like a warm shower despite the worry circling in them. You jumped when the sound of metal hitting the plate seperating you from the machine on the other side echoed through the office. You were shaking, hysterically checking every single hole in the door before finding a eye. Icecold shivers ran down your spine, causing you to snap your head into the other direction, hitting Michael's shoulder. He ran his thumb over the back of your hand, encouraging you to hide your face there. He did as instructed, avoiding eye contact. Your heartbeat throbbed in your ears as you felt the door sliding open, eyes wide with horror. You grabbed onto whatever you could, trying to rip it out of the steel hands from the Robot on the other side. Eventually, it let go again, whispering that they 'have to leave now', followed by silence. Michael shone his light through the openings, looking into the room to make sure this wasn't a trick before opening the cover. He slid out first, grabbing your hand to help you stand. There was a moment where he held you close to him, gently rubbing your back to comfort you. The female voice spoke up again, then Handunit. You shared another look with Michael, agreeing to stay where you were for a bit before you hid your face in his chest again.

Hi Linear LA, ask game time! 3. incorporating romance, 4. plot bunny, 8. relationship w/constructive criticism, 19. writers who've influenced you, 25. revision process, 45. 3 fave fanfic writers, 80. lit elements. Thank you in advance <333
Thank you for playing the ask game; I appreciate it! I'm sorry if these answers are unhelpful or cantankerous-sounding -- I really do appreciate the asks!
#3 - On a scale from 1-10 how much do you enjoy incorporating romance into the average story?
Hmmm. I mean, in stories which have romance, I tend to regard the romance as fairly integral, and plot it out as part of the story, since it governs motivation, which is a chief driver of plot. If the question is, do I like writing stories of which romance is a part, the answer is hell yes, 9/10 at minimum.
#4 - What's the plot bunny you've been carrying longest? Do you wonder why you haven't written it yet?
I don't think I have any plot bunnies I haven't written, but I have lots I haven't finished. The ones I feel greatest existential dread over are original works, but the fanfic one I haven't got complete enough to publish is an omegaverse Reylo fic where they're both betas but they're trying to pass themselves off as an alpha and an omega for career reasons. I like this partly for the opportunities to torture them with the false assumption that they will disappoint the other if the truth comes out, and partly for the chance to deal with the way omegaverse fic often engages with the idea of betas as inherently dull or lesser.
#8 - What's your relationship with constructive criticism?
There are people from whom I will accept it and people from whom I won't. If someone is a stranger to me, or if their work or taste doesn't display interest in the kind of things I'm trying to work with (e.g., if they write or endorse exclusively three-act living room dramas while I'm doing contrapuntal hyper-anachronistic drama or whatever the fucking trip I'm on this year), I'm generally not going to be super-interested in their criticism of my work. I have a dramaturg that I work with as a playwright, and I trust that she knows me and gets what I'm going for and will tell me frankly if I'm not doing what I'm trying to do, or doing it badly. In fanfic I work with Bombastique a lot; frequently she is too nice to me but usually I feel I can rely on her to tell me if something is seriously wrong or if my intentions aren't coming through. There are lots of other people I can and will accept it from, though I don't always agree. It's a complicated question, but it comes down to trust, I think.
#19 - What are some books or authors that have influenced your style the most?
Oof, pal, I don't know. I typed up a long list of authors I love and then deleted it, because all I could imagine was someone staring incredulously at my prose and being like... "you want to blame them for this?"
#25 - What's your revision or rewriting process like?
Hack and debug? It varies a lot, honestly. I am lazy, so I often bring a lot over from previous drafts.
#45 - 3 favorite fanfic writers
Destinies, englishable, and Yahtzee (Ao3 account tragically deleted!), but many others besides! Yours_Truly_Commander_Shepard, Whitherward, lucymonster, slipgoingunder, SaintHeretical, TourmalineGreen, whose reylo fic may someday come back from the wars...
#80 - Do you try to put themes, motifs, messages, morals, etc. in your writing? If so, how do you go about it?
Oof. Yes. I mean, to a certain degree I don't so much "go about it" as "fail to stop myself." I have some obsessions, and they show up, a lot, because I can't help it. If you've read my stuff you may recognize cross-cultural and multilingual communication and miscommunication, environmental disaster, intergenerational harm, and the question of how crimes can ever be paid for as shit I simply. Cannot. Let. Go. Of.

Tumblr Writers Q&A
Thank you very much for the tag @scorpio-marionette I love answering questions!!!!
1) How many complete fics/one shots do you have that you have not published (yet)?
None. I publish as I end each chapter, so there's never a completed work just sitting in my folders hahah
2) How many WIPS do you have right now?
One. It should've come out over a week ago but I had a few problems and wasn't able to finish it yet.
3) Do you take writing requests or write original ideas, or both?
Both. Though I very rarely get any requests :,)
4) If you do take requests, how many do you currently have?
None :,)
5) How many fandoms do you write for?
Right now I only have works for The Mandalorian. But I write for the Star Wars fandom in general and Devil May Cry.
6) Are there any fandoms you wrote for in the past that you no longer write for?
I've written for Marvel, and I plan on getting back to it once I'm able to settle things in my life and catch up with the movies and series.
Though I haven't written fics for them, I've done ships/pairings for Vikings and Harry Potter.
7) Do you write for ships, reader inserts or other?
Reader inserts
8) Niche fandoms/characters you write for?
No. I want to write for Frankie "Catfish" Morales but I don't know if it's niche????? I also need to watch the movie first lol
9) Do you read fics as well as write them?
Absolutely. I read much more than I write.
10) What is your favorite genre to write for?
I love to write fluff, but I enjoy writing for any genre as long as I have a clear, consistent idea in my head. So I can't really say I have a favorite.
11) What is your favorite trope (to read/write)?
It depends on the fandom hahahah but in general I love reading Mafia AUs, and anything that's "xxxx" to Lovers, specially friends to lovers.
12) What do you do to get motivated to write?
There's nothing that can motivate me to write. If I am inspired, then I can write. But "forcing" myself to do it just doesn't happen, no matter how hard I try or want.
13) Is there a trope/genre you like to read, but not write?
Anything that involves "problem - solution". I'm very good at creating a problem, but I suck at resolving them
14) Any characters/fandoms you want to write for that are never requested?
All of them. As I said before I never get requests.
15) How long have you been writing fanfiction?
OOF! Hard question. Officially, 6-7 years, although I had a long period of hiatus. But I used to write to myself before that, so...
16) Did you read fanfiction before you started writing?
Absolutely. It was fanfiction that inspired me to write fanfiction.
17) Do you only post on Tumblr, or any other sites as well?
I post on Ao3 too! But not all of the works that are here are also there. I only post on Ao3 the works I consider to be my best.
18) What do you personally consider the word counts of “Drabble”, “One shots” and “fics”?
Around 600 for drabbles, 700 to 1k for one shots, and whatever is above 1k is a fic
19) Which do you prefer to write more? HC, drabbles, oneshots/fics, multi chapter stories, other?
As I mentioned before, I don't have a favorite. If it comes up to me and I think it's a great idea, I'll happily write it whatever is the word/chapter count.
20) Are there any stories you have discontinued? If so, why?
Yes. Firstly, time. I was in school/college and it was hard to keep both things up and going. Second, lack of readers/interactions. I've always wanted to be a big fanfic writer, but I never got the feedback. I guess I'm just unlucky.
21) What is one of your main “pet-peeves” as a writer on Tumblr?
I wish readers would reblog more rather than just like. Reblogs help your favorite writers get more views, and it motivates us to continue.
22) Do you write at a particular time of day?
No, I write when I'm inspired and, most importantly, have the time and know I won't be bothered.
23) Do you listen to music, ambiance/noise, etc. to write or do you need silence?
I listen to music but it has to be instrumental. Preferably wearing headphones to block any other background noise.
24) Do you outline your fics at all before writing?
No, I keep it all in my mind lol. But I did for "It's All Coming Back to Waves". It's an important work for me
25) Do you post your writing as soon as you finish it, or do you schedule it to come out at a specific time/day?
Sometimes I end up writing until too late in the morning and feel absolutely tired to read proof and post it, so I leave to the next day. But I like to post as soon as I finish. Oh, I'm also physically unable to post them without proof reading first
NP tags: @grippingbeskar @dinner-djarin @misspearly1 and anyone else who'd like to answer these!

Hey, it's the Kiara Deserves Better™ anon! I haven't had the chance to finish it until recently. Your essay was great as always and highlighted why I'm so frustrated with how they've written Kiara. I'm tempted to ask you for another essay, but I'm not sure what to ask for xD. But I figured since you've written so much for me already, I thought I'd share about me: I want to replay and do Hana's route because she deserves better as always, so are there any diamond choices you would *not* pick?
Ahhh yes! I remember you xD I'm always happy to churn out essays as long as I know what I'm talking about 😅😅 I'm glad we agree about how frustrating (and downright disgushing) the treatment for Kiara was. I can't promise to do entire essays on her BUT I sure am planning some fanfic prominently featuring her and Hana 😃 I'm just in two minds because either I'll need to wait until TRH QTs are over or I'll need to abandon my QTs altogether. But I have loads of ideas and I'm impatient to start!!
Okay soooo...which Hana scenes wouldn't I pick? I think that depends on what kind of diamond content you wouldn't like, but rn I'll go with the ones I feel have least value in terms of actually getting to know her.
A lot of the times my problem is that you can tell when they wrote a scene clearly so you could gain advantages, rather than anything related to Hana herself. In such scenes she is not important - how the MC can use her (and at least on one occasion steal credit for Hana's creativity) is. Which bleeds into my overall problem with the canon Hana and MC dynamic (friendship or romantic) itself. Like, when you have to aggressively rewrite whole parts of canon in your fanfic to make your MC seem like a better friend at least...you know there is something wrong.
Book 1: Most of the scenes are top level! Cordonian Waltz...Piano Scene...Yacht scene...Her Confession Scene...Her Finale Scene...all very beautiful and very unique and they all explored different facets of her character. Like even the ones that are about skill or give perks have space for HER personally!
Perhaps some of the scenes in Applewood you can skip, but that would mean you won't get much time to interact with her on closer level there. The pie baking contest is really more about the special touches Hana adds to the pie (like the decoration and additional instructions), but I think you can win the contest for free as well! Buying the Derby champion horse also unlocks an extra scene where she teaches you dressage moves but a lot of the personal stuff she tells you is mostly free content. So on a more personal level (and if you don't mind Hana winning the horse race at Fox Hunt 😁) it doesn't exactly count for much and you can maybe give it a miss.
Book 2: Oof. Terrible mostly. I won't deny you'll find a few gems (Patisserie scene...Library scene...Proposal scene 😍😍😍 Even the McDermots scene is pretty good, besides that one dialogue option where they make Hana call Shanghai "ancient" 🙄). One of the worst ever Hana scenes comes from this book.
Hot Chocolate Scene: Okay so on it's own it's actually a nice scene! It involves genuine personal time with Hana where you ask her questions and show concern...and that gets harder to come by later on in the series. BUT the part that makes this so awful is that this scene should have been where we saw the flashback, not Drake's. In fact the scenes should have been reversed. Drake had no authority talking about something that involved Hana esp when Hana herself never gets the opportunity to use this fact (that Liam brought her back, not Madeleine) to her advantage. So yeah. This scene is good coz you know a little more about her family but awful coz she was robbed of the chance to talk about how she REALLY returned.
PARIS RUNWAY: I put this in caps and italics and red letters because it is the worst scene in the history of this series!!!! Like ever. Where do I even begin with the PROBLEMS in this one.
Tumblr media
First, this is not a Hana scene. It's a Penelope scene with a Hana kiss tacked on at the end, for convenience. I bought the scene in my fail playthrough and didn't include Penelope and you could really feel the difference.
Second, like...you know how wearing the Snow Bunny outfit in Book 1 unlocks the Drake Meteor Shower scene, right? They could have easily used that kind of coding here. Buy the outfit and you unlock the chance to model. You know what happens if you don't buy it and buy the Hana scene? The audience applauds you for going on stage in a tank top and jeans. In Paris. It doesn't make any fucking sense!
Third, this particular chapter has diamond scenes for all three LIs. Liam gets to take the MC to the Eiffel Tower and talk about his father as a King and his vision for Cordonia, Drake gets an emotional reunion with his sister. Hana gets...this. A scene that doesn't even give HER importance coz no, kissing Penelope's ass is more important. Hana got bullied the previous night and Madeleine lied through her teeth about her motives the next day (by option) but no, the girl who secretly dragged our reputation through the mud is more important.
Fourth, the scene preceding this one was a group scene masquerading as a "Comfort Hana!" scene. That scene basically focused on anyone who wasn't Hana (including Olivia btw)
The other scenes are fine (following this is patisserie scene and library scene, my favourites in this book), and the Champagne scene is okay, but ultimately it's a decent scene that views the upcoming trip to NY as more important, and there is very little on Hana herself. When you think of that in the context of Hana having very little attention to herself in her own home, and the fact that in the next chapter she is NOT THERE...it's not great. But you can still purchase it because nothing can ever be as bad as the Paris Runway scene.
Book 3: Okay so in this book your scenes are split between "character" and "LI" scenes. The first you will get no matter who you are marrying, coz it's supposed to be about their issues or things only they can specifically impart to you. The second will be exclusively romantic scenes with your LIs.
Character Development Scenes: Hana has three and none of them are good at all. The team took laziness to a whole other level in this book. The Polo scene gives you extra perks at the game in Portavira, but there are very few variations between the "friend" version of this scene and the "LI" versions. Like when Hana has questions about her future the MC - whether she is marrying Hana or not - can claim (optionally) that Hana could be a "professional best friend" (to this day I don't understand why they couldn't replace that option with "Duchess" in Hana's playthrough). The scene where they get Hana's traditional handmade outfit was supposed to be the culmination of Hana's arc but it was awfully executed but the big downside to NOT buying it is that Hana never gets to wear that lovely outfit again (except for a brief time during the wedding). I would have called this the worst scene if Paris Runway didn't take that title and run with it. The Snow Angel scene is Lythikos is...okay, I guess? At least it's about her and not how the MC can best use her.
Again, in the case of both Polo scene and Snow Angel - the scenes are decent, but in both those chapters they're pitted against Drake scenes where you can see the difference in effort!! You can tell Hana's scenes were a real quickie, and devoid of any care or love from the writer for that character.
LI scenes: Thankfully you get better LI scenes for her in plenty. I'd avoid the one in the bathtub in Chapter 2. It's not very well written and the LIs all sounded like each other. This was originally a problem in the Applewood spa scene too but I think they changed it here and there. The rest of the LI scenes were pretty fantastic Hana wise. Some of them even delved a little into the aftereffects of her upbringing...which they never ever brought up again.
Honorary Mention: Hana's Gift. Coz every other LI gets beautiful gifts that are unique to them but for Hana the MC grabs a...telescope and slaps a Hallmark card message to it.
Tumblr media
But the thing is that perhaps your criteria for what scenes would be good or not would be vastly different from mine, so do keep that in mind when you're choosing. A good way to gauge would be to maybe take a look at a particular scene on YouTube just to confirm.
Hope this helped!!
