I've said this before but I think one of the reasons scum villain occupies such a unique niche of queer representation is because it's one that interrogates society's expectations on gender and sexuality, but within a world where there's no strict ramifications for queerness. Instead the expectations and constraints on queerness are carried solely through Shen Yuan's internalized issues, which are so deeply set they motivate many of his decisions within the book, but aren't enforced by any direct outside forces in PIDW. It's a great critique on how the effects of internalization can persist even when someone isn't in an environment where they're being directly oppressed, and how it can take years and years to unpack and unlearn.

A child raised in chains thinks of pain as their life's base.
Its eyes always seek the hidden blade.
It knows of the truth of its herd.
I am your shepherd. I lead you.
If you get lost, I travel for hours to find you.
I will fight a wolf for you.
The watcher's gaze always lingers on it.
It never truly rests.
If it ran, it would be found, no matter how far.
I will keep you safe.
Find a place to shelter you during storms.
I love you more than you can imagine.
Hands come closer.
Each time it's a mystery, what will happen once they reach it.
Will they wrap around its neck or embrace it?
Is there a difference anymore?
For years I have watched over you.
Your lives are so much shorter than mine.
When I look into your big eyes, I see your fear.
Worry not, I'll protect you.
It knows the truth.
Jaws that rest are all the hungrier.
A fate rests between a hungry pack
And the teeth that so often smile and promise.
One day you'll be old enough.
I will have to choose then.
Which of you will I keep, and which will go to the hut one last time?
Wrap your hands. Draw your knife.
For we both know the truth.
Every shepherd eats his lifestock.
I will have to choose between your death or mine.

Hey, anon-chan.
I don’t mind sharing my opinion, but you’re gonna have to come off anon first-- it’s not very fair if just one of us is putting their whole self behind their words, yknow.

*this is just about having medical needs that would have meant death without modern medicine, so no ‘I’d probably die from not being able to distinguish the blur as a lion’ we have a healthy caveman squad who cares for each other, we just also dont have, yknow, penicilin. etcetera.
pls reblog for sample size etc
follow for more occasional useless polls :)

I remember one time I was telling my friend a secret knock by knocking on her leg, and when I realized what I was doing I said:
“Oh. Sorry for knocking on your leg”
And then she said:
“It’s okay, it won’t open anyways”

In complete seriousness, they need to make laws about ads that say they can take no more than one, maybe two, clicks/taps to close/skip. No more "wait 10 seconds until you can skip the video, wait 10 seconds until you can skip the fake playable ad, wait 5 seconds until you can close the 'download now' overlay, puts up a half-screen in-app appstore pop-up (which at least you can close immediately)." This should literally be illegal to do.
Edit: this is blowing up so I just wanted to add (haha ad) that this was my "reasonable request" I also think there should be way more and way stricter laws around all advertising in general. I think most advertising as we know it today should be abolished.

She's often accused of playing the victim, that's a big line in like the Kanye stuff, and so on, like she's self-victimizing. But to me, what's actually kind of interesting, and it's almost an artistic flaw of hers, is that she is unable to be the victim. Like, in Dear John, which is one of her best songs, she has that, you burned all the other girls you date out, but not me, I got your matches before you could burn me. And so like, she actually doesn't play the victim, she's just kind of honest. Like, if somebody releases a music video of you with like, a giant nude wax Taylor doll, she'll be like, that's kind of revenge porn and I don't like it. That's just hitting back, right? So like, what actually irritates people about her is her refusal to be the victim of a situation, but like, they call it playing the victim.
