“ Six years after the events of "Wreck-It Ralph," Ralph and Vanellope, now friends, discover a wi-fi router in their arcade, leading them into a new adventure. “
★★★★★★☆☆☆☆
What a dissapointing sequel to a great film. Honestly, I like the concept of this movie. There is so much potential and hilarious jokes waiting to be discovered but...this was not it. I find most of the characters unlikeable, the main plot is so generic and predictable, but at least is a beautiful movie to look at...at times.
🐻 One of my favorite moments from the short “Once Upon A Studio” is when Baloo and Mowgli sing an ending verse of “When You Wish Upon A Star”. It happened right after Baloo closes Scuttles beak due to the seagull attempting to sing, though extremely off key and out of tune. In January, I did some sketches and similar drawings much like this one. In the short, Baloo was voiced by Jim Cummings, the voice of Winnie the Pooh. 🐾🌴
A homecoming is a principle all musicians should tackle more delicately than most of your comebacks. Why? Well, they can ruin a group. Let's say your band had two great lineups and you can find yourself having many problems by returning with the members of just one. I agree, Cycles by The Doobie Brothers remains a terrible case for something like that, the LP didn't piss off Michael McDonald, since he sat this one out as Tom Johnston came back to helm the collective. Thus, the sound there resembled their early 70's with the added sheen of the late 80's. I have to admit I find the combination a bit off, because the soundscapes don't seem to breathe in the way of their 70's. Then again, many of their peers released the similar record back then, so I guess we can blame the era for this.
Some highlights of ‘60s & early 70s cons from The Golden Age of Comic Fandom (1999) book. Many of these -- the JSA ones in particular -- were the first cosplays of their kind in recorded history as early fandom was just beginning to take shape and conventions were still considered primarily aimed at science fiction fans. We’ve got:
Dick and Pat Lupoff as Captain Marvel and Mary Marvel at the 1960 World Science Fiction Convention in Pittsburgh, memorably acknowledged as likely the first comic book cosplay in the Xero (1960) #1 fanzine.
Maggie and Don Thompson as Taia and Ibis the Invincible, as well as Larry Ivie and Les Gerber as Batman and Robin, at the 1962 WorldCon in Chicago.
Dian Girard, Bruce Pelz, Fred Patten and Ted Johnstone as Wonder Woman, Doctor Fate, The Flash and Green Lantern also at the 1962 WorldCon in Chicago.
Carol and Phil Seuling as Mary Marvel and Captain Marvel with Otto Binder (co-creator of Supergirl and prolific scripter of Marvel Family stories!) at the 1965 New York Comic Con.
John Clark as The Shadow at the 1970 Phoenix Con, winner of the masquerade ball contest at that same convention.
Bruce Hamilton and Leslie Hamilton as the Joker and Catwoman also at the 1970 Phoenix Con.
Michael T. Gilbert as Green Lantern at the 1971 Comic Art Convention in New York.

Another batch of terrible opening sentences for our shock and delectation!
Some of my favorites:
If there’s a snake in your boot, you dump it out by the creek, and if it’s got feathers, you dump it out in the creek, and if it’s talkin’ at you, you dump it out gently and apologize and keep an eye out for the mama dragon, and tarnation these city slickers don’t know the first thing about stayin’ alive out here.

(I swear I've heard Svalbard name-dropped more often this year than ever before in my life, but I digress...)
Draxyl’s breathing quickened—finally, in his hands he held the Sacred Jewel of Grondor, the key to the legendary Chamber of Secrets, the icon that so many had died for, and the perfect gift to win the heart of his beloved; the question now was how to fit all those things into his pockets without the shopkeeper noticing.

The clouds drifted lazily through the crystal blue sky like cotton candy from last summer's county fair except that if a plane flew cotton candy the engine would ingest so much sugar that it would lock up the engine and force the pilot to make an emergency landing, perhaps in the river below where the body of a white male in his mid 50's with no identification floated face down, which is where our story begins.

I adore this movie so much. It may not have the most original story ever, but it has such a great roster of characters, so many refferences to different games and beautiful visuals. I love it!!!
nicks biography from the 2006 birthday party website
transcript ↓
Nicks history is well catalogued, his ever burgeoning success and notoriety fueled by a variety of achievements since the early, wild Birthday Party days.
After his family moved to Melbourne from the country town of Wangaratta in 1973, he met some of his future band mates (Mick, Phil, and Tracy) at Caulfield Grammar School and began performing singing duties with them at weekend rehearsals and occasional school dances.
By 1977 the band, now called The Boys Next Door, were slipping untidily into the new “movement” of Punk/New Wave and Nick met Anita Lane who would become his (un)steady girlfriend for the next 10 years. His writing at this time was still maturing but after the move to London in 1980 it went from strength to shrink and found its own unique mode of expression within the Birthday Party.
Nicks untamed stage manner and fierce vocal delivery were the conduit through which the band's crazed performances flowed. Since the groups demise Nick has developed unhindered as his work with The Bad Seeds, his novel “And The Ass Saw The Angel”l and his various involvements in film work (writing, acting and composing) amply demonstrate.
A biography of Nick called “Bad Seed” written by Englishman Ian Johnston was released in 1995.
let your spotify predict your 2024! shuffle your on repeat playlist, and the first twelve songs represent your 2024
I am using my repeat rewind playlist instead because this past week I've been on the more emo side of my taste and it was kind of depressing as far as predictions go. like velodrome by dessa and hollow by cloudeater and tired as fuck by the staves. SO. this is less depressing. choosing a better story.
