Lingthusiasm Episode 71: Various vocal fold vibes

Partway down your throat are two flaps of muscle. When you breathe normally, you pull the flaps away to the sides, and air comes out silently. But if you stretch the flaps across the opening of your throat while pushing air up through, you can make them vibrate in the breeze and produce all sorts of sounds -- sort of like the mucousy reed of a giant meat clarinet. (You’re welcome.)

In this episode, your hosts Lauren Gawne and Gretchen McCulloch get enthusiastic about the vocal folds! They’re often called vocal cords, but as they’re attached along the long side rather than just the two ends like a guitar string, we’re using the more precise “folds” (just be thankful they’re not called “vocal flaps”!) We talk about the many cool types of vibrations you can make with your vocal folds: pushing out an extra puff of air (aspiration), turning off your vocal folds while still talking (whisper), making them high and tight (falsetto), low and airy (breathy voice), and low and crackly (creaky voice, aka vocal fry). We also talk about the ways that various languages draw on different configurations of these vibrations to distinguish between words (such as “sip” and “zip”; Thai, Tai, and Dai; and more) or for stylistic effect (such as newscaster voice).

All Lines Converge …At The Louvre?

A response to THIS post by @angelthefirst1

Thanks @angelthefirst1 for this fun assignment! I love where you are going with this, and I do have thoughts on it. I'll try to relay some of them below, and I'll try to be brief, though I cant' give any guaranties.

(ETA: it was not brief, not at all...)

When we first met Maggie again back in 10x17 Home Sweet Home, we were made aware of the name of her community, Meridian. The name immediately struck me as significant for a couple of reasons. First, "meridian" is a reference to the lines that goes through a map in a north to south direction. It therefore ties into the "navigation" theme, the "map" theme as well as the "North" symbolism. Further, "meridional" is a term that translates to "southern", which further amplifies the symbolical ties to these themes.

In Acheron 2 we got a significant addition. Maggie mentioned the word "Meridian" in relation to a reference to a radio tower, I'm borrowing your illustration here.

This little scene turned out to be a key to further our understanding of the symbolism landscape in TWDU, and it gave us clues into how to interpret it. Let's look at a few of the implications of this new information.

Negan's compass: In Acheron 2 there was a mention of a radio tower and a reference to Meridian. As you explained, @angelthefirst1, Negan was their "DC tour guide" in the Acheron episodes, which calls back to Beth's DC spoon from Still and the general map/compass/navigation/North Star symbolism. I've talked about how I interpret the DC spoon from Still in a "navigation" theme framework, and IMO the "DC tour guide" comment plays into that. We saw Negan being tied to the navigation/North Star symbolism in 9x9, when he stole a compass from Judith. She confronted him with it, but let him keep it, telling him "It will help yoy find your way". In The series finale we saw Judith recieve a package from Negan, returning the compass, admitting it had helped him find his way, confirming what the North Star symbolism is about, and that it's still in play.

Compasses are part of the North symbolism, and ultimately represent finding your way "home", as explaind by Carl in 6x10.

We saw this play out in Negan's escape attempt in 9x9. He meant to escape, went away for a while, but eventually returned "home". We also saw Judith shoot at him, but the bullet didn't kill him, which is interesting as well.

Meridian: The word "meridian" after which Maggie's settlement was named, refers to the lines that goes from north to south on a map. They are essentially geographic reference lines we use in relation to navigation.

The word "meridian" is also used to establish different time zones, and many countries name their timezone as they relate to the Prime Meridian which runs through the Greenwich Observatory on London, England.

The Greenwich Mean Time, or GMT, refers to the time of day when the sun crosses the Greenwich meridian, and timezones will be named for example GMT +1 (Greenwich Mean Time plus one hour).

Before it was decided that the Greenwich Meridian were to be the Prime Meridian, the French championed on behalf of their own Paris Meridian, but in the end, the Greenwich Meridian prevailed.

Interestingly, the fictional Rose Line from the Da Vinci Code was actually based on the real Paris Meridian.

We've discussed The Da Vinci Code a lot through the years, as it seems like a lot of the symbolism we see in TWD is heavily inspired by various elements of the book. And now, with Maggie's Meridian settlement there's yet another connection to Dan Brown's novel.

In The Da Vinci Code, we saw how Professor Langdon followed the Rose Line, which is based on the real Paris Meridian, through Paris to the glass pyramid outside the Louvre. He realized that the tomb of Maria Magdalena was hidden below the inverted pyramid under the glass pyramid outside The Louvre.

Inside the hidden tomb lay Maria Magdalena, the mother of Jesus' child, the child that kept the blood line of Jesus alive into our own time.

For TD, this ties into a multitude of our theories. I've recently talked about Daryl's blood and how his blood saved Judith's life in "Red Is The Living Colour". I've talked about "Trunk" symbolism for years, which ultimately is a reference to the tomb of Christ and how Maria Magdalena one day found it empty. We’ve written numerous theories in which the symbolism from The Da Vinci Code features heavily. In season 5 we saw a plaque on the wall in Father Gabriel's church which was a reference to Da Vinci's fresco "The Last Supper", which we theorize the kitchen scene from 4x13 Alone was modeled after. Furthermore, @wdway has through the years discovered brilliant connections between TWD and The Da Vinci Code that really deserves a post on its own.

"The Holy Grail" in The Da Vinci Code was the tomb of Maria Magdalena, mother of the child that carried the bloodline of Jesus, the ancestral mother of Sophie Neveu, a direct descendant of Jesus. @wdway keeps discovering chevron symbols in TWD, which are identical to the symbolism Robert Langdon explores in his hunt for the true Holy Grail, and there are some truly amazing parallels to TWD.

Greenhouse symbolism: I've always viewed the glass pyramid outside The Louvre and the inverted pyramid below it as potential tie-ins to the broken greenhouse from 4x4 Indifference. That was the episode that put the "Red Controls The Gates" symbolism on my radar, and it also revealed how the greenhouse symbolism is tied into it.

In the episode, Ana mentioned that she had found tomatoes (which are red), inside the greenhouse. They had survived because of a hole through the roof in the greenhouse, which had allowed for rain to come through, providing the plants with water. To me, that strengthens the "Red Controls The Gates" symbolism, and it is also a tie-in to the "red" symbolism around Maria Magdalena which I talked about in "Red Is The Living Colour".

Therefore, also ties into the Meridian symbolism inherent in the name of Maggie's settlement, because as we've discussed, the Rose Line (based on the Paris Meridian) showed Langdon the way to Maria Magdalena's hidden tomb.

Tomb symbolism: My interpretation of the greenhouse symbolism in TWD is that it represents a tomb. But because we get the story of a hole through the roof that let the tomatoes survive and become red in 4x4 Indifference, the tomb symbolism comes with "emergency exits", meaning a person who is affected by the tomb symbolism has a "way out", an "emergency exit", so to speak. We see this again in The Da Vinci Code, in which the bloodline of Jesus was able to survive through his child, born after his death to Maria Magdalena. The bloodline didn't die with him, it survived.

One thing we have to understand about the TWD references to The Da Vinci Code and Maria Magdalena's tomb below the glass pyramid is that first of all, a pyramid is, by definition, a "tomb".

That was their original purpose in Ancient Egypt; to be magnificent tombs for the pharaohs. And when we see "tomb" symbolism in TWD, it is, in my opinion, a reference to the tomb of Jesus, the one Mary Magdalene discovered to be empty.

I've always called the "tomb" symbolism in TWD "Trunk" symbolism. We saw in Still how a trunk can be a hiding place and keep you safe, but in 5x10 Them, we saw the flip side to that, a trunk can keep you trapped and become your tomb. There's a duality there. But it is that duality that allows for characters like Rick, Madison and hopefully Beth to "come back" from the dead, to "return", to escape their "tombs".

Team Violet and the Sirius Piggybank: As I've talked about ad nauseum, "Sirius" symbolism in TWD represents "return". It symbolizes Sirius The Dog Star, that disappears from the night sky for a while, only to reappear one morning before dawn. We saw it around Beth in Alone when Beth and Daryl were visited by the white one-eyed dog.

In Acheron 2 we saw Maggie lead the group towards a radio tower, and the word Meridian was spoken, which makes it a combined Sirius and North Star/navigation theme reference. It also ties into the Maria Magdalena stuff from above because as I've described, the Rose Line from The Da Vinci Code is based on the real Paris Meridian, which really does go through Paris and even The Louvre. And we have been told that the Daryl spin off will involve The Louvre in some way, shape or form.

It is starting to appear as though all lines eventually will converge at The Louvre…

Let's bring in the World Beyond after-credits scene, where we are given serious clues as to where TWDU will be going in the future. We see a lady watch video messages from Dr.Jenner who we met in season one. W hear about Team Primrose and Team Violet. We watch her get interrupted by a French speaking man, who eventually murders her. We watch her quickly turn into a type of ferocious walker we have never before seen on the show, and we understand that this is a new Variant.

The "violet" reference immediately struck me as important, because we've had a few "violet" references through the years. We remember Violet The Pig from season 3, and then there's the purple/violet blanket Beth had thrown over her prison cell door. There was also a purple fan next to the aforementioned compass Negan stole from Judith. Could it be a nod to Team Violet and how it's related to the compass symbolism?

Violet is an important clue.

In 8x11 Dead Or Alive Or we saw Father Gabriel loose sight on one eye. That episode was very symbolism-heavy, and we saw a piggybank, which I like to call the Sirius Piggybank, because it is a reference to the Sirius Piggyback from Alone. I've elaborated on it in the "Backpacks, Back Pockets and the Ass End" posts.

We've already discussed the radio tower from Acheron 2, and how radios are Sirius symbolism. On the side of the Sirius Piggybank from 8x11, there is an image of a radio tower, and the words "Ham Radio". Ham radio is slang for amateur short band radio, but it is of course also a reference to "pigs"…as in Violet The Pig…

There's a direct link from the radio tower in Acheron 2 to the Sirius Piggybank in 8x11. There are radio towers in both, that's the "Sirius" symbolism. They also both tie into the Sirius Piggyback from Alone, and to Violet the Pig…

…and to Team Violet from the World Beyond coda, which of course is directly tied to why Daryl is going to France in the first place. See how all clues seem to lead to… France, and to Paris, and perhaps even specifically to The Louvre?

The Louvre:

Let's talk about The Louvre for a second. It's undeniably one of the most famous museums on the planet and houses some truly incredible collections of art.

We've actually had a few interesting references to The Louvre through the years. First of all, let's appreciate that the etymology of the name The Louvre seems to suggest a reliable tie to the french word for "wolf".

And for TD, that is of course interesting because of the line "there's gonna be a party when the wolf comes home" from the song that plays at the end of Still as we watch Beth and Daryl burn the Moonshine Shack.

In one of the TWDU spin offs "World Beyond", we saw Percy recreate The Louvre in the back of a truck for a date with Faith. He put up pictures from an art book to make the back of the truck (trunk symbolism) resemble The Louvre. We of course saw the Mona Lisa, probably one of the most famous works of art in the world, as well as other famous pieces, and eagle eyed @wdway also spotted a picture of Venus de Milo, the famous statue which can be found at The Louvre. I'll explain why that is absolutely monumental in a minute.

Percy even took the effort to create a replica of the glass pyramid we see outside The Louvre, the same pyramid under which Professor Langdon, in The Da Vinci Code, found "The Holy Grail", the tomb of Maria Magdalena.

We watch Faith admire all the artwork, there are a couple of books there, one of which deals with resurrection. We see Faith fall asleep in the back of the truck, directly below the make-shift Louvre pyramid. Then she naps.

Surrounded by wonderful artwork that calls our minds to France, she sleeps. There's a picture with a French flag there...

Just like Princess Aurora in the Fairy Tale about Sleeping Beauty, she sleeps. Just like Princess Aurora, who shares her name with Aurora, the Roman Goddess of Dawn, as well as Aurora Borealis, the beautiful, green Northern Lights...she sleeps...

...then we see her suddenly wake up...from underneath the pyramid...that represents the pyramid outside The Louvre in Paris...

...where according to the novel The Da Vinci Code, the hidden tomb of Maria Magdalena is located...where Maria Magdalena sleeps, so to speak...

we watch Faith sit up...

...behind her face, we see a picture of Venus de Milo...

Venus, Sirius, Morningstar:

I mentioned Venus de Milo above, and there are good reasons for that. Venus De Milo is a famous marble statue believed to depict Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of Love (Venus is her Roman name), and it is one of the most famous works of art found at The Louvre.

For TD this is particularly interesting because of how prominent the Sirius symbolism on the show has been. Sirius refers to the star Sirius, and it is called The Morningstar because of how it disappears from the night sky for an extended period of time, and then reappears one morning before dawn.

However, Sirius is not the only celestial object referred to as a Morningstar. In ancient times, people believed that the planet Venus was a star, and because it sometimes appeared on the night sky right before dawn, it was referred to as the Morning Star. This name stuck, even when it was later discovered it was in fact a planet, not a star.

And as prominent as the Sirius symbolism has been on the show, the Venus symbolism has also undeniably had a strong presence. I'll name a few of the most important incidences.

In 3x8 When The Dead Come Knocking, we saw a painting of Botticelli's "Birth Of Venus", and interestingly, it was inverted, just like the pyramid under the glass pyramid outside The Louvre, the one that in The Da Vinci Code marked the tomb of Maria Magdalena.

It's also interesting to note that the painting we saw in 5x4 Slabtown, Caravaggio's "The Denial Of Saint Peter" showed Saint Peter. One of Caravaggio's other famous works also involves Saint Peter, namely "The Crucifiction Of Saint Peter". In fact, an inverted cross has come to be called a "Saint Peter's Cross, after Saint Peter requested he'd be crucified on an inverted cross to distinguish himself from Christ, as he didn't consider himself worthy of dying in the same way Christ did.

I've talked about my interpretation of the Slabtown clock in previous posts. I won't get into all of that here, but I have to bring it up because it ties into the Venus/Morning Star symbolism. I'll try to keep it brief but I need to mention that the numbers of the time on the clock can be interpreted in many ways. You can say the time shown is 10.10, or ten minutes past ten, but the ten minutes can also refer to "2", which we find references to on for instance Noah's T-shirt (one one).

This is a bit complex and it's better suited for a separate post, but for the purposes of this post I'll just mention that we find variations of these numbers throughout the seasons. We find it again in the season 9 episode Scars, where we watch Daryl get tortured with a cattle branding iron. In season 10 we get to see this scars, which reads like "X II". Those are symbols that could be interpreted within the same framework as the Slabtown clock. The X could refer to the Roman Numeral for "ten", and the parallel lines could be read as Roman Numeral for two, it could also be read as 11, and it could be read as "one one", just like on Noah's T-shirt.

Apologies for this seemingly confusing tangent on numbers, but I'm getting to the point shortly.

When we saw Daryl's scars after the episode Scars, I immediately tied them to episode 10x11, and I knew my intuition touched on something vital when we later learned that season 10 episode 11 were to be called "Morningstar".

In short; the scars on Daryl's back (remember back is Sirius symbolism, re. the Backpack, Back pocket and the Ass End posts) foreshadowed episode 10x11 Morningstar. The episode name is simultaneously a reference to the Sirius symbolism and the Venus symbolism.

It is also a callback to the Slabtown clock through the interpretation of the numbers on it, and it ties the painting of Saint Peter to the inverted cross of Saint Peter, which in turn ties into the inverted "Birth Of Venus" painting from 3x8 WTDCK, which in turn ties into the inverted pyramid at The Louvre.

The Louvre is the home of Venus de Milo. Daryl will be at The Louvre in his spin off, and we know that in The Da Vinci Code, the hidden tomb of Maria Magdalena were situated below the inverted pyramid under the glass pyramid outside The Louvre. It was the Rose Line that led professor Langdon to her tomb in The Da Vinci Code, and the fictional Rose Line is based on the real Paris Meridian, that does indeed go through the Louvre and were the Frenchmen's preferred choice to become the Prime Meridian.

I wonder if Team Primrose, which we learn about in the World Beyond coda, could in reality be just another reference to the Louvre, through the fact that the fictional Rose Line, is based on the real Paris Meridian, which once were concidered by the French to be the real Prime Meridian?

Rose Line + Primrose = Prime Meridian?

Regardless, it was foreshadowed by the name of Maggie's settlement Meridian.

Which is tied to Beth through a multitude of different theories on a multitude of symbols.

The Sirius Piggyback. The Sirius Piggybank with the radio tower from 8x11 Violet the Pig Team Violet, Team Primrose and the Variant walkers.

The Greenwich Meridian, The Paris Meridian and the Rose Line The French coda from World Beyond.

Sirius is a Morningstar. And so is Venus.

The "Rose Line" in The Da Vinci Code was what led Professor Langdon to the Holy Grail, the tomb of Maria Magdalena. Could Maggie's Meridian settlement be the TWD version of the Rose Line from The Da Vinci Code, the geographical reference line that helps us navigate the map of symbolism we've drawn up through the past eleven seasons of TWD, to help us make sense of the symbolism landscape of the show?

Sirius piggyback. Sirius piggybank. Violet the pig. Team Violet. Variant walkers. Venus de Milo. The Birth Of Venus. Venus the Morning Star. Sirius rising before Dawn. Aurora Borealis, Aurora the Roman Goddess of Dawn…

All the lines seem to converge at The Louvre.

And Daryl wll be there for it...

Do you think long distance relationships move both faster and slower than non-long distance relationships? For example, you don't get to spend much time together in person so you really utilize that time but because you dont get to spend much time together in person the timelines are kind of disjointed?

Hey Nonny,

Great question! 💕 The distance definitely tampers with the regular life cycle of a relationship, so the normally established milestones can happen at different times.

Personally, I think the main reason why the distance keeps a relationship "young" (and sometimes even stuck in the honeymoon phase) is the fact that you cannot live together. There's a bunch of chafing and conflicts that happen when you share a roof with someone, and that's completely normal. But these little arguments and conflicts don't happen, because even when you meet and spend time together, you're still idolising each other, plus you value the time spent together, so you avoid conflict to not ruin a meeting.

However, it takes twice as much effort, willpower, commitment and energy to keep a long distance relationship deep, meaningful and committed, which can lead to it ageing prematurely. When someone is willing to move mountains for you, and you do the same for them, it's hard not to feel like you're sharing something deeply important. Benny and I spent 15 months long distancing, and honestly the bond we've established during that time feels truly unbreakable.

I hope that helps! But then again, it's our view on LDR and I think everyone's experience will be different (factors that affect an LDR are communication frequency & efficiency, timezones, meeting frequency & quality, level of commitment, difficulty of moving together, personal obligation i.e. work/school).

Okay so this is GM anon, to answer your questions: as a friend group we definitly lean towards sci-fi and adventure, as in we enjoy movies in those genres so we know and enjoy the conventions thereof. Horror too, but in the style of Scream watch-alongs, or watching scary movies to make fun of them (and hide that you're feeling creeped out) no actual like gore or serious contemplative horror. I don't really know if it's better to go with more serious of more silly games, I was def looking at the more silly stuff bc the serious ones feel really awkward to me (but that might be informed by the fact that most serious RPG's I've heard are longform? The actors get really deep and attatched to their characters and I can't really picture feeling that intense? But maybe I'm just biased to think that short games are always more comedic and silly?). I think I'd prefer more rules/guided games to start with, I think it'll help with getting started and not freezing up when you can't think of something. I think puzzle games or like a heist or mystery sound great! Social interaction too, that's def one of the plus points of RPG's and games over watching something, that you're spending the whole time talking to eachother. Tbh I really don't know what would be best to focus on, I'm just spitballing, I just think something with a clear goal. We usually have at least a couple of hours time together, but it's not necessary for a game to last that whole time. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this!! I'm in a different timezone, it's actually pretty late for me so if I don't answer any follow up questions, it's bc I'm sleeping LOL

hi again gm anon! glad u did not wait up for me bcos it took me a while (i have...... many games), but here is a handful of recs for you!

first up, i think generally caltrop core games might be p good for a beginner; it's a very simple d4 system with very structured rules (how much depends on which game, but generally it's turn-based with set actions to choose from). there's still room for roleplaying & improv ofc, but it's easy to keep a handle on the table. there's been a caltrop core game jam with lots of submissions before, and ofc u can browse the tag on itch, but something like crystal souls or cursed confections might be fun for your group!

futuristic scifi 'group of thieves/scoundrels/rebels/etc do a mission' games are also very popular (i own like........ 20? 30? some are cyberpunk and some are spaceships and just. lot of em.) and also generally have a decent structure to work with (altho less turn-based than caltrop core, usually). a lot of them are geared towards longer campaigns, but can be done as a one-shot if you ignore some of the between-missions stuff. or do it as a post-mission cooldown thing. u kno. (lots of them are sorta forged in the dark based, but the slightly less complex ones i think are good for beginners; fitd can get really involved, but there are also simplified ones!)

you might enjoy offworlders, off the grid: resurgence, xanadu, subway runners, what's so awesome about hacking the planet, weasel overdrive, make our own heaven, bubblegum wizards 2, or dwindle.

and finally, i do love a dungeon crawl; keeps everything to a relatively small & defined space, but you can get weird with it (npcs in a dungeon? yeah! timespace fabric folding in a dungeon? yeah!) and it's a place to do all the puzzles and riddles and inexplicable creature encounters you generally don't get a chance for in a 'here you are in A World' sorta game. also, easy to keep short (my game sessions tend to run 4+ hours for oneshots, but in a dungeon crawl you can just. skip to the last room lmao.) games designed for dungeon crawling tend to lean more horror (if they don't lean..... d&d, basically), but i tried to pick ones where you can either take out most horror elements, or choose to play them lighthearted and chill/campy. you may like crwlr, the dark below, or the empty house.

.......and that's some basic game recs for your group; should be fine for 3-4 players, or even for one-on-one play if you can't get everyone together, altho that's not the ideal. as far as games specifically designed as two-player games, i know there are a bunch of them on itch, but most of them are gmless (usually asymmetrical gmless, but still gmless), and many of them lean heavily emotional (altho some are silly!). i'm not sure if you have different requirements in mind for a two-player game; lmk and i'll see what i can do? altho probably not until after this weekend, i got some stuff to work on for school T_T (this is....... part of why i'm not actively looking to gm rn, even tho i waaaaaant to. too many school.)

oh also podcasts! i know there's more than this around, but you can always check out oneshotpod for shortform games of many kinds! international podcast month also has some oneshot ttrpg episodes; i gmed a game of dwindle this year that was lots of fun! i'll poke around for more sometime, but for now i rly gotta get some sleep lol.

turned out eid was today instead of tomorrow in our timezone, and we hadn't bought any meat yet. the halal shops are going to be closed, and all we have at home is sausages and still defrosting minced meat. I just stayed in my room feigning sickness all day. no way am I being tempted to stuff myself with sausages. can't even find the exact calories of them anyway. the one thing that comes up under "halal beef sausages" on mfp seems way too low, plus every butcher is going to have a different recipe, and I doubt the random little halal butchers here either know or care about how many calories are in their products.

in the spirit of christmas, which is to spread joy and cheer, i want to list down a few reasons why i adore your stories. firstly, i adore how you write snappy dialogue. the banter in all your works are so tender and emotional... but it's not just fun banter that you handle. reading your vampite!ayato series, i can feel that emotional tension between reader and ayato. in fact, writing for ayato is already a huge plus as i find that character not easy to write for. secondly, i absolutely love the way you create worldbuilding. vampire!ayato was such a blast to talk about with you. i also really love the way the characters just jump off the page under your creative care. you give them elements that make them feel relatable and down to earth that i can't quite describe. let's not forget the comedy. comedy is hard for me, but the comedy you inject in your works are so flavourful <3 take your time with your creations: they're worth the wait <3 -- @milkstore

Sintered solstice is 12/21 not 12/20 but a good theory

Since my post has been aging a bit, I now only get this response just about every week, despite the multiple clarifications I've made in the replies and reblogs.

But, to be fair, I haven't addressed this in ask/answer form so here we go! :D

If we want to get pedantic about it, Winter Solstice is an astronomical event that happens at a specific time--the Earth is constantly swinging between longer daytime v. longer nighttime and back, so the exact moment where day/night are the same amount of time is a solstice.

If we want to get pedantic about it, Winter Solstice 2023 occurs on Friday, Dec. 22, at 3:27am UTC (or Thursday, Dec. 21, 7:27pm PST, or whatever timezone applies for you from there).

From here we can ask two questions:

Q1. Could the Riordanverse gods have set up their yearly meeting to only occur at the very second of solstice?

A1. Absolutely. They're gods. Also, this is a fictional universe. Having a wholeass meeting within one second or even one instant is absolutely plausible within this context.

Q1.1 Is it kinda unnecessary to live in the time-frame of instants when the gods by definition have literal eternities?

A1.1 YES.

So we can assume that this probably does not happen. Meaning the solstice meeting extends beyond just the moment of solstice into, we can assume, a wider meeting/party/festival. This leads to the second question:

Q2. Is pedantry and specificity to the minute necessary here?

A2. Not really!

Keep in mind, the original ancient Greeks--along with probably all ancient cultures who watched the stars--DID KNOW when solstice occurred in terms of the movement of astronomical bodies from our POV, even if they didn't quite land on the correct reasons why it happens. Ancient astronomers would've been able to get the timing down to hours or minutes (or whatever time unit they used) BUT.

BUT.

The everyday person wasn't necessarily an astronomer. Instead, you had everyday people preparing for and celebrating solstice for days or weeks. We're spoiled in the Information Age with our roughly standardized calendars and clocks, only truly effected by the forces of gravity and maybe one day a Carrington Event (may it never come to pass); time in ancient cultures was measured in divisions of sunlight, moon phases, the height of the sun, and smudged by weather and other human observation errors and the unhurried pace of human activity. Time was mostly rough, sometimes exact.

There was a difference between astronomical time and cultural time. There very much still is, honestly.

So if we can consider a Winter Solstice festival/meeting/etc. to be something that isn't necessarily limited to a single moment, we can consider it to be more of a "time of year" cultural event.

Therefore. (Recognizing but setting aside the ridiculousness of what I'm about to say.)

The plus/minus of 1-2 days between the release of the PJO series from the actual astronomical Winter Solstice is relatively negligible.

Also. It's a goddamn tumblr post about a TV show. I love being unnecessarily pedantic and have certainly been guilty of it myself but Christ on a bike my lovelies please live and let live.

One of my minecraft friends in the realm I've been playing on for years keeps dropping these sad little lines and it always has me like 🥺

We made plans to frame his opponent in the election for a rabbit infestation (yes we have mayoral elections every 3 months why do you ask?) and I got really into it and set a trap that would release a bunch of rabbits as he was giving his campaign speech and he was surprised I was so involved and said something like "thanks for helping out with this, I thought everyone else just thought I was annoying" and I was like 😱 no dude (plus he won the election and is our current mayor 😏)

Like he makes lil funny news clips about what's going on in the realm and always has ongoing comedic scams that he promotes in the discord like signing up for his minecraft insurance or a VPN that doesn't exist and he is basically like the shady businessman of the server

And today we were just chatting in DMs and he is in a different timezone so at the end he thanked me for talking bc everyone at home was already asleep but he accompanied it with "sorry for bothering you"

2023 #1: The Melbourne Optometrist

My original plan after going out with X-Ray was to stay off the apps until I moved out of Canada, or at least take a one year sabbatical. Yes, a part of me was mentally ready to just ditch the apps for a good year..

However, Matthew Hussey released a video at the beginning of the year and one of the points he made was that there was no such thing as perfect timing.

And goddammit the man was right.

After three months from September to December, I had a good break off of the apps and have moved on from X-Ray ten times over. So I reactivated my CMB account and for the first time in years, made a Bumble account again. I thought that if I need to be choosy about my matches, I might as well approach the ones I wanted.

When the Melbourne Optometrist liked me on CMB, I was intrigued. Intrigued that he studied in Melbourne (cause that was supposed to be my second home), intrigued that he was an optometrist that looked more like a tattoo artist at first glance, and I found him attractive. Granted he was bald, but he owned it in his profile, writing that one of his greatest fears was his hair growing back. The man was had a sense of humour!

We originally matched closer to the beginning of January but didn't meet until almost a month later. He's a hustler where not only is he an optometrist, but is now a personal trainer (cause he felt like it), has his own podcast, and planning to start his own e-commerce business in Canada. Doing all this while working on two different timezones. His motto is work work balance. Busy might be an understatement for this man.

The wait to have the first date was long but things kept getting pushed back due to our schedules conflicting because I was busy too. He was consistent with replying to everything in detail, which I liked. Even if it was once a day. Which was fine, I didn’t know him and this allowed me to not get attached.

Since I never met him, the wait wasn't so bad but truthfully, I was kinda excited to meet him. And I honestly am rarely excited about anyone before meeting.

The conversation we had online was easy and just made sense. It wasn't awkward and it was easy to transition from one topic to the next. The conversations were long and detailed. The type of conversations that only you’d get with very few people in your lifetime via the apps. I say this as someone who has been on and off the apps since I was 18. I had a lot of conversations, give or take a solid seven years where I was active when I was not in a relationship/situationship or taking a break from the dating apps.

Most of the time I feel that I have to force the conversation along when I talk to new people on the apps. As in, you just have to make up the next question to keep it going. Frequent online daters know what I am talking about.

But I never felt like the conversation was ever dragging with the Optometrist. As we continued to chat, my anticipation silently grew as we approached our first date.

For most men, I would not care if they cancelled on me completely before meeting. Primarily because my schedule is so packed, that they would literally be giving me back time.

First Date

The Optometrist originally asked for a ramen date but then we had to reschedule because he somehow forgot it was Chinese New Year the weekend we were supposed to meet up. He asked me how I could forget but I told him of course I didn’t, I was just not Chinese LOL. Plus my parents stopped celebrating ages ago, so it wasn’t something I have done in a long time. Though I personally would love to celebrate it again.

When the Optometrist rescheduled, he told me we could go to some overpriced Vietnamese restaurant. Which I promptly told him no because I thought the cost of pho was ridiculously expensive when it wasn’t even a fancy fusion place. So he settled on ramen once more.

I met him on a Tuesday after work, the last day of January. Yes, I REMEMBERED when we went out.

I wouldn't say the moment I locked eyes with him, my breath was taken away or anything. But I knew within the exchange of the first few words that I have already gravitated towards him. More in a, “I enjoy conversing with you” type of way, not the “I'm going to jump your bones right now” reaction.

As we got to know each other, I started to realize how considerate and attentive he was. The first thing that stood out to me on the date was that he kept checking to see if my non see-through cup was full or not. Whenever there was not enough water, he would call the waiter over to fill it up. I noticed it by the second time he did it because I was so focus on talking.

During our date, I asked him about his dating experiences. He told me something he learned about himself was that he used to take women out on high-octane dates. But then later realized that he would not be sure if he liked the women for them or for the fact that the date was so much fun. He told me he was now trying to get to know the person instead of making dates immediately impactful and fun all the time. I liked that he was self-aware.

When dinner wrapped up, he asked if I was full. Anyone who knows me would know my love language is essentially food. You just need to keep me full and I am a happy girl. I told him it was fine and I was content.

“I was thinking that we can go to Spin now,” he told me when we were about to leave the ramen restaurant. For anyone who doesn’t know, Spin is a ping pong place with plenty of finger foods.

“Ah, I really would love to but it’s a Tuesday night and it is getting late,” I told him, bummed out. “I would totally if this is a Friday or the weekend.”

“That’s okay,” he said. It didn’t bother him at all.

We walked in the winter night to the bus stop. I told him I lived in suburbs and he asked if I needed a ride.

“No pressure of course,” he said, reassuring that I didn’t have to take the ride if I didn’t want to. There was no insistence.

I originally agreed until I realized that he parked his car on the other side of the subway line. I thought that was going to be too much of a hassle for him. He reassured me once again that it was fine if I didn’t take it.

“I’ve been hearing there’s a lot of crime happening on the public transit lately,” he said. “It would be a good idea to have someone with you.”

That did it for me. I accepted and we took the transit together back to the station where he parked his car. While we were sitting side by side on the subway, there was this homeless man that kept walking back and forth. He paced back so often that even though he likely was not gonna jump anyone, there was a possibility he could.

Although the Optometrist didn’t say anything, I felt that he would likely have jumped in and protected me. And I need to comment that when he sat beside me, I really felt his presence. Aka, the man was big *insert eyes emoji here*.

When we got out of the subway and walked to his car, he asked me again if I wanted to get something to eat. “Like Maccas if you want.”

“What?”

“Maccas. You know Maccas? Don’t tell me you don’t know Maccas!”

“Oh yeah, McDonald’s. Maccas. I didn’t hear you for the first time!”

Again, he asked if I wanted more food which just the act itself was more than enough.

He drove me back home and I was anticipating, but also was unsure if there was going to be a kiss. When he parked in front of my house, I decided to go for the hug just in case. But he immediately kissed me. Which I was surprised but also wasn’t. It was a nice kiss, that was just long enough but not a quick or went into some sort of passionate makeout. More like, confirming that there is actual interest.

So, this was my first date of 2023 and I thought it was the best way to start of 2023.

Second Date

Our second date happened almost two weeks after. I told him the night before that I went to an arcade with friends for a dance party and he was like, “I was actually planning to take you to an arcade...”

Honestly hearing that made me pretty happy. I told him I was still down but I was pretty open to wherever he wanted to take me. The first thing that came to my mind was mini golf would be a great alternative.

The next day, he picked me up and actually drove not too far from my house. We pulled up to a glow-in-the-dark mini golf place! To be honest I had no idea it was even in my hood but I was excited that he finally took me on one of those dates I always wanted to experience.

The course was fun and at one point near the end, there was a bit of a backlog. We had to wait for about 2-3 groups of people to finish before we could go next. We were waiting in a dark corner, and I was just saying something when all the sudden he leaned down and kissed me. *insert slowmo kdrama moment here*

I definitely savour that moment. No guy has ever done that to me. None. At least not the ones that I liked, but if I didn’t like them, then I probably be shook that they did it because I would be repulsed and would remember then.

We proceeded like nothing happened and continued to play mini golf. At the end of the game, we went to get our things from the locker. I have learned in my days of watching Matthew Hussey to always ask the guy to hold onto my things now, as a small “favour” where they can be able to show their chivalry. So I had the Optometrist hold onto my bag and earmuffs as I put on my winter coat.

Once I got my coat from him, he proceeded to plop my earmuffs over my ears. *cue second slowmo kdrama moment*

To be honest, I did not shut up about this moment with my friends. Some of my girlfriends were confused at why I was telling them this but, it was a cute romantic moment for me, okay!

He was surprised when I confessed that I never had a mini golf date, or just an arcade date in general. He told me that it was hard to believe, which I guess could make sense if you didn’t know my atrocious dating life (hence the existence of this very blog).

We debated on where to go for dinner afterwards and agreed to head to Richmond Hill because there weren’t a lot of good Asian restaurants in my area. We tried a Taiwanese hotpot place and I thought the food there was solid. During this date, I held onto his arm when we walked around. You know, acting like a couple and all.

The second date ended well and he dropped me home when we finished our dinner.

Third Date

For our third date, we went to a noodle restaurant near Yonge and Finch During that time, we chatted and continued on with our getting-to-know-yous and banter.. We proceeded to go a cafe as a follow up for dessert.

For the first I would say, 30-40 minutes, was all normal. We had ordered ice cream on a waffle and was sharing it at the cafe.

“So when am I meeting you next? In a month and a half?” I asked, as I went to take another waffle bite. The Optometrist originally told me on our first date that he was planning on heading back to Melbourne for a month to sort out his life and work.

“Actually...I’m going to be gone for a whole year,” the Optometrist confessed.

I took a pause, my mind reeling and I could sense my defense mechanism kicking inside of my brain. Literally my brain went, “Emergency, lock down, lock emotions down. Get over him, NOW.”

I asked him why and he said that he found out the world largest optometry conference is being held in Melbourne this September. It made more sense for him to just stay there for the year and sort out his entire life before moving back to Toronto permanently.

“So, where does that leave us??” I asked.

“What do you mean?” He proceeded to point out we have only been on three dates and were certainly not in love with each other. He said that in his past experience, it was best to have a clean break whenever he went off for long periods of times, and then reconnect whenever he was back. Otherwise the conversation would die off after a couple of months.

Essentially with his work, he would go on contract for months to a full year at a time when he was working in Australia. This meant he didn’t work for a permanent clinic in Melbourne, but rather he contracted out his services to other optometrists and clinics whenever they needed an optometrist across the country. For example, if an optometrist in Adelaide went away for sabbatical, he would contract out and become a substitute optometrist.

However, with this type of work, it meant a lot the women he went out with rarely worked out. He told me his longest “situationship” was 7 months. And apparently at 37 years old, he never had a relationship in his life. Cause trust issues. Yes, of course I picked someone up I like who happened to have trust issues. I clearly can’t have the men I want in my dating life.

I told him, fine, if that when he came back and he was still interested in reconnecting, he could reach out to me and see where I was at and we could proceed from there.

It was disappointing but the good thing about our situation was that I only really heard from him once a day and our three dates happened over a span of two months, which made it easier for me to get over him. I took maybe about a week, since I was quite invested in him at the time.

I messaged him on the day that he flew back to Australia. To be honest, I was annoyed that he left me hanging in a convo we were having. He could have at least closed the loop and said that he had landed or whatever and it was nice getting to know me. Instead we were talking about movies and then I just never heard back from him. So by then, I was really over him.

Will there be a continuation of the Melbourne Optometrist? Who knows, but I assume that chapter is officially closed. Otherwise if there’s anything, come back to the blog in a year’s time LOL.

Well that was a WILD tribal council. I didn’t think that a tromoya would flip right before merge but I’m not completely surprised. All I’m trying to figure out now is if my gut keeps telling me I’m Right about Raffy then it was him although I want so badly to be able to trust him! And if it was Brandi I’m glad she is gone. However my gut is really not letting me just go with the obvious and I’m thinking Champ or Raffy flipped. So either Champ is lying to Hairie and I and playing us. OR Raffy is really great at putting on a whole show and making us believe him to cover up his tracks. Either way I’m wary of both and only trust Hairie at this point.! On the bright side…. I picked the merge tribe name, another Survivor bucket list item crossed off! Tromoya's tribal was WILD and idk if it's my ADHD ass but I can't make head nor tails of what exactly happened or who's on whose side, so I'm excited to get the rundown from Bethany tomorrow. It seems like Raffy's in his feelings about folks not voting for Bethany and claimed he would flip at merge if they want to rocks, which is giving emotional player, which always makes me nervous. I like predictability and logic! But it is fun to watch, at least. Raffy actually seems really cool, I'd love to work with him. I just don't know if I could trust him.

I reached out to Tyler because Raffy shut him down with the QUICKNESS at tribal with his "I wasn't talking to you." It's the most Tyler's talked to me all game lol. I'm shocked that he stuck with Bethany and didn't flip, I apologize for saying there was no way he didn't immediately flip.

I'm honestly just exhausted today, I'm getting sick and just don't have energy to have multiple conversations AND work on this damn immunity challenge. I think I've already lost it to Raffy but I'm going to try my hardest because I wouldn't be surprised if AJ or I got targeted.

We lost the challenge and headed to tribal. I honestly didn't want Bethany to go and told her if she can get votes for Tyler we can push it through.

Being in a different timezone and all I was scared to go to sleep because I didn't want to miss out on strategising while the rest are up since its daytime for them but me knocking out minutes after !!!

An hour before tribal, I found out that my name is going around and for that reason I didn't want to sleep but didn't want to waste any more time so I got to scrambling and immediately told Jay I'll be 50/50 playing the idol tonight.

Come tribal .. It was a 4 votes Bethany and 4 votes for me and at this point I was internally screaming that I should have played the idol. Trusting the people that I stuck out for and a pretty insane tribal at that, the votes stayed the same after revoting and calling out each other and drawing the alliance lines right there and then, it was rocks. There seems to be a plan to go to rocks and in my head at this time was yelling Brandi flipped internally ( I could be wrong) but that was my judgement then. Rocks came and Brandi went home and if she did flipped, the rocks went our way and I still get to keep my idol.

I don't know who or how or when my name is being thrown around about me having an idol. I didn't have it only until recently at the market and that was by chance because Raffy didn't want the sweater.

Also kinda shocked Esteban called me out about not wanting to get to know him but I'm pretty sure I did though but all is good on that because it could be just how we interpreted the messages.

First individual immunity challenge was ... A LOT again screaming internally. (Takes a sip of coconut juice).

I was actually pretty shocked I found the first page pretty quick like I did 200-400 and then 111-199 then 900-999 and finally decided to go in the middle with 600 ... 617 Kaboom if I didn't had to prepare for work I would probably have located it in under an hour.

I screamed so many times during this challenge "Winterbell" "agar.io" and "2048" but the most difficult for me was the jigsaw puzzle , took me nearly 2 hours and then around 1 hour++ I checked back the Tumblr post and notice the image was right there smack in my face all this time MY GOODNESS.

Challenge made me feel all sorts of things > laugh, cry, scream, angry, frustrated but glad that it was over.

Getting to know the remaining casts as well and I like Trinica. Been getting to know a lot about her and some truths about Hidra and past tribal councils. She even gifted me a 10% advantage when she bought bread at the market. I do believe in good gestures and we can work together to vote out our targets if they don't win immunity.

Now, I really need to step up my game. This will serve as a wake up call for me to not take for granted individual immunities. I'm gonna fight til the end.

I hope nobody is paying too much attention to the touchy subjects results because...it could kind of blow up my game. Not me getting 2 votes for closest ally!! I'm assuming it's Jinx and Toni BUT it's awkward because I didn't put either of them, and nobody put Toni. I think I can convince Jinx I put her if necessary, but I worry Toni will start feeling insecure in the vecepia alliance.

I also got a vote for who has an idol and who will win if they're not voted out , I honestly feel like both of those came from AJ because I voted her for both categories as well. We're playing Rusdian Roulette with this alliance (is that the right metaphor?)

Thankfully, she has 5 other people who think she's playing too hard. I think that result is what will pull attention, hopefully. Using AJ as a shield has always been the game plan, but she's making herself TOO much of a target at the moment.

Tyler Frazier

Raffy and Hairie are running a smear campaign on Esteban and I currently and Bethany is trying to defend us. Hope she does good work like the girlboss she is. However for me it’s just a bit odd for Hairie and Raffy to try and come for Esteban and I because what’s their argument? We know about the non mens alliance from them? They didn’t do whatever we wanted? We quite literally saved someone in their alliance when Bethany could have been a easy vote and would have made the merge a lot less messy. I hope that the 4 of them can see that and side with us and when it comes time to talk game I’m gonna make that clear to them aswell.

Esteban

First of all, my sincerity apology for not being able to play the challenge. It has been a long day. I hope this will not happen again (fingers cross)

So, Tony called me and told me about Raffy calling out my name and Tyler’s name. And it was confirmed by Bethany that Raffy really started to pulling the girls on his side. (Which I respect). But we will not backdown on this battle. I started talking to the HIDRA girls with exception of Jinx yet (as she might not available or just don’t wanna talk to me yet) and come clear and accepted my fault of calling their alliance out. I hope that would help. And I voting with Bethany should be a testimony that i wanna still work with them again until near end.

I hope with the backing of Toni and bethany that I will survive yet another tribal. But if not then no regrets, i played with my best and satisfied. Period. :)

And oh yes. Raffy started the war. So the only thing to do is to end it. May the odds be with me or not. :)

I’ve come to terms with the fact that this has been a relatively game for most of the returnees but the way my anxiety is set up. I’m anxious every tribal even though my name isn’t up.

I’m also currently on holiday with the family. So struggle life trying to participate.

It's possible I'm being blindsided but I really think I'm running this vote. Raffy seems to trust me, Hairie and Arvin put me into a chat together and seem to trust me, Esteban thinks I've bought his BS (unless Bethany told him otherwise). I told Raffy Esteban's saying his name, I told Esteban Raffy's saying he's spreading my name around. I suggested to both we vote for JayJay to flush out the idol that the other might have. It's just beautiful. Everything is working according to plan.

JayJay is a boring vote but one that will cement Hidra in the majority without me having to sacrifice these new alliances.

My only worry is Bethany, who I think at this point is much more aligned with Tyler and Esteban than she ever was with us. I don't trust her at all.

Raffy

The strategy this round has been kind of crazy. I’ve basically given myself over to AJ and Trinica. I have made it very clear and explicit to a few people that I want Esteban to be taken out of this game. I want him gone because I just don’t know if I can ever really trust him at this point. He’s a person who smiles to your face while they’re stabbing you in the back. I believe he never really had any intention in working with me. Also it’s interesting hearing AJ’s side of the story as it makes Esteban out to be the person who overplayed. Anyways, I want him gone. Trinica was very receptive at first, but idol paranoia is at an all time high. She wants to flush any idols Esteban may have so she suggested that we actually vote for JayJay so that he doesn’t see it coming. I feel bad because I know JayJay hasn’t been feeling well and I don’t want to seem like I’m betraying old Tromoya. However, Trinica also told me that JayJay told Bethany that I have an idol. That’s definitely suspicious. If whoever voted with Bethany last tribal wanted Tromoya never to work together or wanted us to take each other out because of paranoia, it worked. Because all last tribal managed to do was give Hidra numbers, Bethany power in this game, and Tromoya to not be unified coming into merge. Congrats to those people. So I’m very hesitant to trust that JayJay didn’t vote for Hairie. Especially considering that she was expressing extreme hesitance in voting for Bethany. I don’t who to trust anymore. I just want Esteban out of this game. I don’t know if I’ll use my idol because maybe I won’t even need it to succeed and will need it later. But, how can I trust anyone if they all just think im the biggest threat. This game is too hard. If only we could go back to the OG plan of voting Esteban

I just felt like I should give a confessional but I honestly don’t know what to say because every plan I’ve been told makes absolutely no sense and nobody cares enough about me to actually ask and or consider how I think the vote should go. Tempted to take a nap and wake up before tribal and just ask who I’m supposed to vote.

Honestly I think this round alone makes survivor Gabon look like a master class in gameplay bc we are all just collectively as a cast not slaying gameplay wise. At least we aren’t a boring cast though!

WHERE TO WATCH THE NEW (AND OLD) MIRACULOUS LADYBUG EPISODES: ALL METHODS AND THEIR PROS AND CONS

This post has been a long time coming!

Now we all have our different methods of watching new episodes, although it’s always good to review other options! So I decided to make this post so you can review your options and choose accordingly! My personal favorite methods of watching that require the least work have a star next to them, so pay extra close attention to those!

If there’s any options I forget to list below that you have for watching the new episodes, or if any links here are broken/no longer in use, please tell me and i’ll update this post!!

TV CHANNELS VIA CABLE TV

I will NOT write every single channel ml airs on lmao, so just look em up!

PROS: AMAZING way to support the show, and you get to watch the episodes as they come out!

CONS: ML episodes air EVERYWHERE lmao. You'll probably need a vpn to catch all the episodes as they come out, and even for a channel in your country you'd need to pay for cable. Plus, you won't know if you're watching it in order a lot of the time.

LIVESTREAMS

Listing all the livestream links would be LONG, so go check out this post ^^ by @miraculousepisodes instead, which I always use and find to be very helpful (they also post livestream links a few hours before a new ep airs, so go follow them!)

PROS: You can watch the episodes as they come out, live!!!

CONS: Sometimes streams get taken down, sometimes you need a vpn, sometimes the episode is airing at 3:00 am in your timezone, and, of course, if you only speak english and the episode airs in a diff language, you’re out of luck!! Plus, there’s commercials, and who likes those?

PROS: Almost 100% of the time is the quickest to post a new episode after it airs and the quickest to post subtitles for an episode not aired in english. It also has a download option so you can download the episode to your device in seconds! The episodes are also posted in very high quality and every episode of the show is on there, including specials, and in order!!! Seriously these people are the backbone of this fandom lmao!!!

CONS: LOTS AND LOTS OF POP UP ADS!!! Seriously, it can get pretty annoying. When I watch on these sites, I usually download the episode then watch it to not deal with pop ups, but seriously, go at your own risk ;_) Unless you have an Adblock, in which case you have nothing to lose!

It’s like the above websites, but made by a local tumblr user, so that makes it my new favorite method!!!! Go give @yumiayumu a follow!

CONS: Only has episodes released in English , so if an episode is released in a different language with subs you’ll have to watch it elsewhere until it’s english dub drops. Also, I don’t really see this as a con, but if you’re on mobile you have to get the Mega app and sign up to watch everything, but it’s all free and takes 3 seconds so it’s fine!!

THE MIRACULOUS EPISODES DISCORD SERVER 🌟

PROS: Easy to join, making a discord acc is free, notifies you on new episodes, and includes all the episodes and their specials as well! Very high quality, no payment of any form required, and it gives you several watch options. It also includes livestream links! Plus, If you’re social, it has a lot of miraculers you can talk to! The one advantage it has over the websites also is that it’s a lot harder for episodes to be found and taken down, so this is probably the most stable free option of streaming ml.

CONS: It usually takes a while for the episodes to be posted. They’re usually posted on websites, youtube, and drives first. Sometimes it’s hours after an episode airs that’ll it’ll be posted on to here.

GOOGLE DRIVE LINKS

(The server above includes google drive links to the episodes, but like I said, it takes a while to upload.)

PROS: No popups, very low chance of being taken down, and in very very high quality!

CONS: Sometimes can take a while to get uploaded: again, the websites are usually the quickest method of watching new episodes. Also apparently there’s a problem sometimes with entering full screen mode via google drive on mobile when you’re in safari? I usually fix this by zooming in, changing the site to the desktop version, or just downloading the google drive app! I think another downside is you might need a google acc to view, although im not sure.

YOUTUBE

No specific links, you gotta look em up!

PROS: When all else fails, someone will have uploaded it to YouTube for clout!

CONS: Easiest way to get episodes taken down, a LOT of people clickbait, and oftentimes episodes are posted in very low quality or in a million parts. And by the time you find the episode, you probably would have gotten spoiled anyway!

STREAMING SITES

Netflix and I THINK in the future Disney+ will have all the episodes!

PROS: Completely Legal, you can watch it in a ton of different languages with subtitles, and oftentimes offers the best quality! Also the best way to support ml! Even if you use the other methods to watch the show, always make sure to rewatch on streaming sites when it comes out on there!

CONS: Literally the LAST place the episodes will come out. If you choose to wait on streaming sites, it’s very likely you’ll be watching the eps a year, or even TWO years, after everyone else. They’re also known for putting the episodes VERY VERY out of order, and of course you have to pay a monthly fee for these. Your country may not even have ML on netflix! :(
