Wait, Pokémon can have trauma?

ABSOLUTELY!

Pokemon can feel complex emotions (as well as real animals) and can have trauma, PTSD, anxieties and most of the same feelings that people have, sometimes even more severe.

It is not uncommon for pokemon that were involved in a serious natural disaster to fear things associated with them.

Fires are the most common due to things like trees getting struck by lightning or people who go camping and forget to put out their fires completely.

It's upsetting but a lot of their trauma can be attributed to humans, directly or indirectly.

Not to mention that some of these pokemon have an elevated sense of awareness, mostly in the psychic and fairy types.

This is why it's so important to understand the needs of your partner and communicate.

Pokemon aren't here to make our lives better, we live along side them and it's up to us to help them as much as they help us.

Why is my Leavanny is scared of fire? She acts super paranoid when she's near a source of fire, she's been like this ever sense I got her as a Swadloon. How do I deal with this?

That's clearly some trauma from some kind of incident.

As someone who deal with this at times, let me help you out.

Do not try and force them to be around it, you'll only make it worse.

You need to support them when they are feeling down, because its not uncommon to catch your pokemon feeling depressed about something they consider a shortcoming.

Support your partner and let them know that they are not broken.

It's possible that they have a scar or have been heavily injured by something involving fire.

I personally deal with bouts of fear regarding fire, but I've come a long way since my accident and I'm dealing with it much better.

Whenever we get occasional forest fires we need to rescue a lot of wild pokemon and relocate them, some dealing with similar fears, most recovering but some don't always adjust back.

They have been relocated to rehabilitation centers or places they can live in peace in semi captivity, or occasionally they might be considered for adoption.

Your pokemon might have some fear fome a similar experience and now you need to take the time to learn about their needs and reactions to this situation.

It will be a time of growth, but I'm sure you can.

absolutely obsessed with the idea of timbern being super secretive over bear's time in the cult.

on one hand, bear is wildly insecure of his scars from the cult. cause it's not like he fucking got them saving the city or helping someone, he was just stupid enough to get sucked into a cult. (a voice in the back of his head that sounds a lot like his therapist and tim tell him that kids are supposed to be stupid and that his time in the cult is more a reflection of the adults in his life than his own choices) anyway his back and legs are like a mess of scarring and normally he'd just tattoo over them but scars have to be a certain age before they're tattooable. so he now just covers them up.

on the other hand, tim is insanely protective over bear's traumas. like if he got any more protective he'd be like certified deranged. so he just straight up dodges or lies about bear's backstory. anyway all this to say, they're hanging out in the pool at the manor and nobody but them ws supposed to be home. so bear thinks it's safe to take off his shirt. they're both having fun until someone says behind bear, "dude... what happened to your back?" cue tim lunging at them like a rabid dog and bear struggling to hold tim back going "tim, tim, what the fuck, what the fuck????"

Restoring Treecko's eyes

This Treecko plush used to belong to a primary school friend, and unfortunately one of her dogs got hold of it at some point and tore the fabric covering its eyes. So it's just been blank eyed and ghostly for a long time, but I thought I'd try painting them back on!

These eyes feel like they are fitted like the normal type of safety eye with a washer at the back, but they're huge and I bet they'd be really tough. Rather than attempt to detach them, I decided just to mask the fur around them with tape, tucking the tape under the edge a bit. The surface of the plastic was already sanded and matte enough to paint. I put on a few thin coats to try and keep it smooth.

I lightly sketched in a pupil position then very carefully drew the pupils with a paint pen! I'm surprised I got them as neat as that.

While varnishing them, I added a circle of hole punched paper for a white highlight. This is a little off model honestly but I think it looks nice.

A few coats of varnish later (honestly not as shiny as I could have gotten, but not too bad) I removed the tape, and we're done! It looks happy!
