Preview panel only. Click here for full cartoon. Or see the on-site navigation tutorial. Or see this tumblog’s FAQ. Cartoons may contain unmarked spoilers. Cartoons linked at 10:00 Central US are new and are pinned to the top of the blog. Cartoons at 22:00 are from the archive and are only pinned during annual summer hiatus of new cartoons. Thanks for reading.
[Image description: Preview panel for the cartoon at the link. Leonard Nimoy dressed and made up as Spock stands on the set of Star Trek with a tribble prop in his hands. Next to him in William Shatner’s costume stands Sam Becket of Quantum Leap giving off the blue discharge that indicates he’s just arrived in someone’s place. Two cameras are trained on them. Nimoy is reciting Spock’s line, “I, of course, am immune.” Sam is saying, “Oh boy.” Unfortunately there are not image descriptions at the main Hero of Three Faces site.]

Concept art by Cory Allemeier, box design by LucasArts design team. “Jedi Knight: Mysteries of the Sith.” February, 1998.
LucasArts Lead Designer, Ryan Kaufman, had these memories to share about the making of Mysteries of the Sith on the StarWars.com blog in 2005 (edited for brevity):
In 1997, I was part of a small team working on a mission pack for the PC game Outlaws. During that time, the marketing department looked at the sales for Outlaws and came to a disappointing conclusion. "We haven't done enough sales to make a mission pack profitable," they told us, "but how would you like to work on the mission pack to Jedi Knight?" Jedi Knight (aka JK) hadn't even been released yet at that point. The designers were still putting the final polish on what we all knew was going to be a GREAT game. It was a quantum leap forward for LucasArts and for Kyle Katarn himself-- our first foray into 3D FPS, and Kyle's "first step into a much larger world." Featuring Force powers, giant sprawling missions, branching storylines, full-motion cutscenes... this was the Star Wars experience we'd all been craving for years.
My friend and co-level designer Kevin Schmitt and I, along with artist Clint Young, were huge fans of the Thrawn trilogy, and especially of Mara Jade. I forget who suggested her first, but once we began talking about Mara, we knew we had to work her into the story.
We decided to make Kyle into a mentor and teacher, because it seemed like the next evolution of his character. Plus it would give him and Mara an instantly-understandable relationship. Why would Kyle take Mara as his apprentice? He's a loner, and a renegade. But in JK he took on the mantle of Jedi Knight. It was a tough choice for him, and I think that he saw something of himself in Mara. She too had to evolve from a violent loner into a Force-user and valuable member of the New Republic.

🎱 ⇢ post your AO3 total stats
🥤 ⇢ recommend an author or fanfic you love
🔪 ⇢ what's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?
🍅 ⇢ give yourself some constructive criticism on your own writing
Dang V, (I know this was you lol) hitting hard!
🎱 Okay, ever since 2013... My total AO3 stats: User Subscriptions: 51 Kudos: 7,132 Comment Threads: 538 Bookmarks: 1,265 Subscriptions: 323 Word Count: 1,029,399 Hits: 125,075
(My FanFiction.net stats are more impressive, lol. I actually have no clue if this is "good" or not just that...I have way more on FFn.)
“🥤 Recommend an author or fanfic I love. “ Gonna do one per fandom I'm active in.
In the Drakgo fandom, if you haven't read Random Tales of Drakgo by @gothicthundra then, trust me... It is worth the ride!!! Also, see her own fic art and fan art at @rtdragko In the Soul Eater fandom, you really gotta read Reprise by @blackbloodteeth. Anime post-canon, about Maka learning to be a weapon. Features Soul and even Stein and Spirit. Fantastic artwork in there too, also on tumblr.
“🔪 Weirdest topic I've researched for writing”. Gonna go with something that never actually made it into a single fanfic. I researched the heck out of the White Sands military base, and ALL of the surrounding geography, the cities, towns... How that military base is run... I spent weeks and weeks and weeks on this... All for Quantum Leap fanfiction I never wrote a single word for. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
“🍅 Give myself some constructive criticism.” I should probably spend more time editing, and not just...write, write, write, post in all exuberance, but truly spend time. Not just...yes, these sentences are good. But...could I do more. When I look at incredible writers I admire, my brain likes to grab certain phrases or techniques they use and adapt them into my own writing... But I don't actually learn from it, it's just a sort of copying the technique. I should spend more time thinking about the actual words. But, I did do that on my most recent fic, agonized over a single word, and still don't know if I made the right call.
Thanks for the ask!! ^_^

[ID: A blue and white donation prompt banner that reads: "Can You Chip In? Dear Patron: Please don't scroll past this. The Internet Archive is growing rapidly, and we need your help. As an independent nonprofit, we build and maintain all our own systems, but we don’t charge for access, sell user information, or run ads. Instead, we're powered by online donations averaging about $17. We'd be deeply grateful if you'd join the one in a thousand users that support us financially.
We understand that not everyone can donate right now, but if you can afford to contribute, we promise it will be put to good use. Access to knowledge is more important than ever—so if you find all these bits and bytes useful, please pitch in." There is a box next to the banner with donation options ranging from $1, $17, and $100, with the last option being a custom amount, and two checkboxes below that say "I will generously add $0.67 to cover fees" and "Make this monthly". End ID]
Hey, Archive of Our Own fans!
Are you looking for more ways to help preserve media? Want to make sure reading is accessible to everyone without ads or restrictions?
Then please, please consider donating to the Internet Archive!
Each year, Archive of Our Own far surpasses their donation goal for their fanfiction hosting archive-- let's see if we can't meet or beat that for the original archive, that preserves media that would otherwise be lost, is an open free and accessible online library, and is an absolutely invaluable resource if you are a fan of literally any old media; so many books are completely out of print for scifi series such as Quantum Leap, Star Trek DS9, Babylon 5, etc, and physical copies are sold for hair-raising prices ($100-$500+), and digital copies available to purchase are extremely few and far between.
Some of the Star Trek books have been digitalized as ebooks by Amazon, but none of the Quantum Leap books exist anywhere online as purchasable ebooks, and the only place you can find them is on ebay (for various price points from reasonable to absolutely hilariously outrageous), but they are not available in any accessible format...
Until the Web Archive digitalized them for their Open Library!
Not all of them are available on the web archive yet-- physical copies are donated to the archive and have to be digitalized there, but many are already available that you would otherwise have to shell out $100 or more to scalpers and resellers on ebay, while the original creators never see a cent of the profit (the books originally sold for $6.99 when they were released)
Not only does the Internet Archive preserve books that are decades out of print, but also documentaries, ancient video games and software, live music, and what most people know: The Wayback Machine! The magical tool that preserves defunct or dead websites (or even just to show original posts or articles before they were edited or deleted) for future reference and preservation !
And the web archive is not just for fandom purposes-- live news broadcasts, radio plays, NASA images, public domain audio books for accessibility, movies, podcasts, traditional art backups, and more!~
Do you have old family videos and photos? You can upload them to the archive!
Do you have a family recipe book from your great grandmother? You can upload it to the archive!
Do you like to craft and make crochet or knitting tutorials or patterns? You can upload them to the archive!
So, if you love to read, and you love media preservation, please consider donating if you are able (This is not only available during a set time, they accept donations year round if you want to wait til payday!) and please reblog to signal boost this!

last song you listened to: Electric Sun by VNV Nation
last movie you watched: Barbie, it's on MAX now so I checked it out again
currently watching: the news
other things you’ve watched this year: Silo, Quantum Leap, Severence, The Morning Show
currently reading: Twin Peaks: The Final Dossier
currently listening to: i mean I have the news on right now but generally? It's been a very Tori Amos year (which is every year tbh but this year I fell in love all over again). Also, fell back in love with VNV Nation when they released their first new album in five years. I'm also getting into Megan Thee Stallion. I am not into that much rap but I like her flow.
currently working on: a fic for my friend Twig, she's my audience of one lol. I don't really write fanfic for mainstream consumption.
current obsession: Twin Peaks for sure. I've been an obsession for like 25 years honestly but I finally watched The Return after waiting for idk, no good reason? But I have Paramount+ with Showtime and saw it on there so I rewatched the first two seasons + Fire Walk With Me before going to The Return. Now I'm reading The Final Dossier which is pretty illuminating and devouring theories and watching it all again from the beginning with my roommates. It's a very rewarding series to rewatch because there's so much that comes together only after you've consumed it all. It's really art in film/tv form, I've always been a fan of Lynch's work because he's interesting and his aesthetics are striking and the music is DIVINE.
It's been REALLY fun sharing it with my roommates. We're on 2x05. One roommate says he has no theories as to who killed Laura, the other says she thinks it's Ben Horne.
BOB is like, maybe the most scary horror villain of all time to me. I love the story of the dude just being a tech that David Lynch plucked up to be his big scary guy.

Thought I'd finally make one of those fancy introduction posts everyone else seems to have.
*Ahem*
I'm Scottie, ze/zir or he/him, either works. 20+ years old. I'm from Canada. I'm a writer and artist (though I don't post my art very often). You can often find me chilling in the Star Trek: Enterprise fandom which is my main fandom. I'm also into The Legend of Zelda, Linked Universe, Quantum Leap, Murdoch Mysteries, and Back To The Future.
My Ao3 is ScottieIsImpatient, linked below. I post there very frequently.
Edit: linked below you'll also find a discord server specifically centred around Star Trek: Enterprise! Join us if you're interested. :)
Aaaand that's about it! Hope y'all are having a good day!

Hello everyone! I’m making a thread to introduce you all to my characters who star in Tales Of Aniyah Goodwill. This post will be very detailed, if you don’t like walls of text, please skip over!
ANIYAH GRACE GOODWILL:
Tumblr media
Aniyah Goodwill is the primary main character of her tales. This story is centered around mysteries in a quantum leap where technology, the spiritual, and the physical become perfect. In a world where she is the key to it all, there underlies a villain hidden in plain sight. Someone she loves as her own husband.
JASPER “DIVINITY” DUSKFIEL:
Tumblr media
The second main character, Aniyah’s loving husband. As you may tell, he has something underlying beneath those “sobbing” eyes. Jasper is Aniyah’s least expected candidate to be possessed with the “Millenia Anomaly.” But sometimes… a grandmaster doesn’t play his move until the king is dead.
THE GRANDMASTER (Outfit):
Tumblr media
This outfit symbolizes what would and could be “THE GRANDMASTER”, also known as “The Millenia Anomaly”. He is the primary possessor from another dimension, his purpose is to torment and take control of a world while moving on to the next to destroy its creation. A heartless beast which will reset every applicable wicked outcome until he is truly satisfied. Using Jasper as one of his hosts, he is defying laws and reality as it sees it.
KINGDOM’S THRONE (Seraphim of The Heavens):
Tumblr media
A guardian and protector to Aniyah Goodwill, this seraphim has been solely placed to guard Aniyah Goodwill in her journeys. When she’s solo, KT will always make his presence known. He is a father-like figure to Aniyah Goodwill and a solemn statue in her faith. Always proclaiming the glory of her god.
Despite religious imagery, KT is solely in the game/story as a defense mechanism, and a fun friend that appears in times of need. He is not intended to push, but to glorify god.
ANNABELLE GOODWILL:
Tumblr media
Annabelle Goodwill is Aniyah Goodwill’s “twin” sister, being her older counterpart. She always claimed her younger sister as her own due to their mother and father being so busy. Henna (their mother) taught Annabelle at a young age prior to becoming the First Lady of the world alongside her other ethnically based leaders solely chosen as a representative love to all to raise Aniyah.
Henna is the primary leader alongside another undisclosed woman who is irrelevant to the story. But for you, her name is “Cariya Dunespen”.
JESTER BARTHOLOMEW EDWIN CLOWNINGTON:
Tumblr media
The main antagonist. A major lore-heavy troll who fell as an imperfect example of sin or imperfection. This troll is the representation of sin in Christianity as a whole. Meant to glorify a god he believes in (Christ), he makes an attempt in his own effort to become “greater”. Like god but not him at all. This obviously is a mistake as he had already been made this way, and a certain snake convinced him once more. It was but a time where life itself became reality once again, and a quantum leap happened because of this.
Because of one troll, the entirety of creation experienced a movement and shift in dimensions. Reality itself became fictitious, and that wasn’t good.
This does not fully summarize the story and its many implications and meanings. This is only the start.
BEEFCAKE BIURNO GREGORETH DOUGLAS III:
Tumblr media
Bartholomew’s main henchman, a slouch, a joke, and a comedy character. Meant for humorous moments and purposes. Bizarre humor is in session with this one.
Beefcake is JB’s son, a small little troll mixed with a lightning monster for the purpose of a heart which rolls to his thunder. Beefcake is secretly a very strong opponent who will fight you when you least expect it. So be ready!
———
THE END FOR TOAG!

Kill Your TV slap. Originated by artist Ed Zucca in 1979 with a print run of 100 stickers, which became badges, shirts, etc all over the country.
(CN: fictional suicide attempt)
So. I had a Quantum Leap t-shirt many years ago. I was only a mild QL fan, but it was much more difficult to find nerdery back then -- the idea that one could walk into JC Penney and buy a tee with Jack Kirby art on it would have been laughable. Besides, it was pretty. I wore it at a con, and found myself tackled from behind by a complete stranger who was apparently unfamiliar with the concept of assault, and who did not understand why I was not instantly her new best friend. Anyway, the horrible final episode ran. I came back for it like an idiot, though I had given up the show for good when the Lee Harvey Oswald episode decided that giving precise instructions to Sam Beckett and a national viewing audience about how to slit one's wrists properly was a good idea. Fuck you, Glen Larson. Fuck you, NBC. I wore the shirt to another con with KILL YOUR TELEVISION written on it in black marker, and never received so many dirty looks in my life. It was awesome.

thinking about vidding today and how people used to do it on VHS... you know what would be really fun to me as a quasi art project? take a surviving fanvid that was digitized and like... re-edit it with HD footage, using the exact same cuts. and then take a fanvid that's in HD now and dub it to tape... bonus points if i could do this the exact same way they would have done, with period accurate hardware and source tapes
it would be very fun to do for quantum leap especially because it had a thriving vidding scene in the 90s... like id love to do this for my body fancam especially (not to toot my own horn) because i think a lot about how peer communication within a fandom changes, but the messages themselves that fans propagate/amplify remain the same. like, my video says "wow sam beckett is sexy! check that shit out!!!" but that information isn't new, people have been saying this for 30 years. the music i chose for my video is undoubtedly modern, but the clips themselves aren't, y'know? maybe the music choices for older fanvids seem out of fashion to us, but we can still recognize their underlying message... hmm
