Today, I learnt about psychological distancing, which is basically a tactic you use when you are panicking to make smarter decisions. You do it by talking yourself through the situation in third person.
And I started thinking about transmigration stories. Why is it plausible that someone who is just getting by or in other cases really struggling to get by will become a hero in a transmigration story. And yes a change in available resources and violently removing someone from their previous circumstances and putting them in new ones can cause people to alter the way they behave. But, I wonder if psychologically distancing does not play some role in it. They don't really identify with the situation enough to not be able to think rationally about it.

I am so glad the anime came out because now I can gush about Mash. When I started reading the manga, Mash just quickly climbed to the top of my list of favorite characters. And it is a very long list of characters since I consume a lot of fiction.
I just adore Mash so much. He is funny and adorable. And my absolute favorite. It was a bit ridiculous how quickly I became attached to him. Usually it is the plot that pulls me in and it takes me a little bit to warm up to the characters, but I just adore Mash so much. You know how just looking at cats make you happy. That is the effect that Mash has on me.
Also, the anime is doing such a brilliant job, too! Sometimes, an anime can fall short of the original manga, but this anime is just perfect!

Everything happens at Yok’s bar. It’s just so interesting. Kinn met Porsche there. Vegas’s meeting with Pete after Pete’s escape happened there. And Kim defended Chay there.
It really reminds me of advice from a fiction writing class I took about having some object/place keep showing up in your story, and have it show up in a pattern, associate it with some type of event. It will be symbolic and a sort of signal for the readers.

It is really weird, but recently I have been very quick to tear up every other day about small things, many times things that don't even affect me, like a video I saw or a story I read, but I have been less depressed over all. And honestly I used to not cry for months before, even when I, personally, was stressed or anxious. I am not sure if this is progress or me just becoming more weird as I grow older.

I just realized that the Bridgertons show that everyone has been talking about is based off that book series I read in high school because I was bored and it was online for free.

For some reason, I can clearly associate certain seasons with each of the main mxtx couples.
Luo Binghe and Shen Yuan: Spring
Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji: Summer
Xie Lian and Hua Cheng: Autumn

Ok, I adore my family. But there is one fictional couple - and hear me out - they are the only fictional couple that I have ever wished would adopt me as their kid. And I have desired this intensely.
And it is Hua Cheng and Xie Lian.
Because they’re both patient and good and sweet to the people they love. And they’re also fierce and protective and scary strong. But also they’re just so cool. With elegance and power. And I swear, I am not so disconnected with reality to go on such daydreams. This is the first time I’ve ever come across a fictional couple and wondered - oh, what would it be like to be their child?
And I’ve come to the conclusion, that I would really, really love them as parents. They would be funny and sweet. They would teach their children a lot, but would be patient if the kids didn’t understand immediately. They would be demonstrative with affection, and would probably allow and even enable a certain quota of mischief, as long as it didn’t endanger the kids, but they would instill compassion. They would teach their children to not value materialistic things, and instead take joy in simple pleasures, but they would also make them learn practical skills to support themselves. And they would be such gentle parents. I just think they would be perfect with kids.

I am currently watching the donghua Thousand Autumns, and I don’t have much context (never read the novel), but Yan Wushi - can we just talk about him? This man is the type of person that you hope will never notice you (in a positive, negative, or neutral way, even if you’re family or someone he’s supposed to protect). Any attention from him (regardless of what kind) seems like it will turn out negatively for the recipient. At least, that is the vibes I am getting as I am watching the donghua.
I am mainly watching for Shen Qiao. I adore characters like Shen Qiao who make the choice to be good regardless of what the world does to them. I wish I could be a little more like that.

I accept and respect that you are an atheist. Please accept and respect that people are religious. That people can be religious without fitting into a stereotype. Especially when you are taking a religious studies class.
Literally, the only people I have any sort of prejudice/hate against are (1) child abusers, (2) rapists, and (3) people who inflict cruelty for the sake of cruelty.
Saying “if religion is what they need to get through the day, then that’s ok” is not being respectful. Even if you are trying to express that religion can be an emotional support to some people, there are much politer ways to phrase the same idea (e.g. the way I phrased it just now). Besides, I don’t need to be struggling emotionally to be committed to my religion.
Religious people do not need your validation or approval. I respect that your beliefs are different than mine, but that doesn’t mean you can trivialize my beliefs.
Also, please note, I am not stereotyping all atheists. I don’t bring up or preach religion in casual conversations. But, it is unpleasant to encounter this sort of attitude in what is supposed to be a safe space to talk about religion. What is more unpleasant is no one called her out on it. I wanted to, but I was scared of being shunned. There might be people who are doing this unconsciously. Those are the people I would want to reach if possible. So, please reblog.

So, it never made sense to me that Remus Lupin was turned into a werewolf and not born to werewolves. Fenrir’s name, at least, makes sense. I firmly believe that Fenrir changed his name to Fenrir for the drama when he started biting random people, and that wasn’t the name he was born with.
But, “Remus Lupin” trying to hide he is a werewolf when his name screams “WOLF WOLF.” Seriously, how are you named after a boy whose mother was a wolf and have the last name “Lupin,” which sounds similar to “lupus” from “canis lupus,” which means wolf --- and then at the age of five get turned into a werewolf by some twisted fate ‘cause this barbaric werewolf decides to target you, because he holds a grudge against your parents? And, apparently Remus’ dad was prejudiced against werewolves in general, too.
It makes no sense.

If Nie Huaisang was a chess piece, he would absolutely be the king. Because he seems to be the most passive, he makes sure he is safe and protected, and he is pulling all the strings from behind. And he wins.
On another note, Nie Huaisang is a total Slytherin. He is my favorite character in MDZS just for his sheer Slytherin-ness.

I just realized that “Come back to Gusu with me” is basically Lan Wangji’s version of “I wanna take you home with me.” I never really thought about his plea outside of the protection and safety aspect of it.

I wish I could have a large sign hanging around my neck that says, “I’m socially awkward. I’m not a jerk. If I said something accidentally rude to you, I’ve most likely already fretted over it for hours, so please forgive me.”

Cao Weining is such an interesting guy. A girl he has never seen before beats up a couple of sexist morons at a restaurant, and his first instinct is to buy her food and blush at her while reciting poetry incorrectly.

TGCF anime
Knowing the author, I knew the plot was going to be good, even if I had not read this particular novel of hers. But they made it so good - in terms of quality, art, animation. This was beautiful.  A 10/10. I just finished it (binge-watched both the series and the special episode), and I just had to gush about it. It was like they came to life on the screen...
Oh my god, I don’t know if anything I watch afterwards will be able to match it.
