a few years ago, back when i was in college, i was plagued by vampire-related dreams almost every night. they were all different scenarios - sometimes the vampires were benevolent, and sometimes i was hunting them, or they were hunting me. sometimes i was one. there wasn't a recurring theme with the dreams other than vampires being in them. at the time, i wasn't consuming any vampire-related content or media. it had been months since i played or watched anything to do with them, so these dreams really were one-off. they eventually stopped, and i was confused as to why, but i moved on.

i'm posting this now because it's happening again. dreams about vampires, almost every night. different scenarios each time. sometimes i am one. again, i'm not interacting with anything vampire-related and haven't in some time. i don't know what it means.

Jingliu does for me what Tyr*nde Wh*sperw*nd does not.

#i just realized this the other day #and no i don't prescribe to the 'plz step on me' movement no ty #i think it's b/c of the disparity in muscle definition #tbh i think that's too much muscle on tyr*nde #she never really came across to me as a person who's supposed to be jacked out like that #idk it felt to me like the game was trying to make her illid*n-lite but throw in the El*ne/Order bent #OTOH hoyoverse doesn't really jack up their cast; that's the fan artists' job #b/c gotta make 'em bishounen/bishoujo ig to build up your fanbase #but there's something about jingliu's design that draws me in #that really sells the moon aesthetic #i think it's the color scheme in her design #it's not overly bright but it's also not overly dark #her hair and the bits of red make her stand out #but it's that blindfold that speaks volumes for me #i can't really say as to HOW MUCH b/c i have to play HSR #but it does. and i think that alone - or w/o it - gives jingliu such allure #anyway that's just my personal analysis of two (2) moon-coded characters #a rather small one but i think small is good b/c otherwise i'll just end up typing out essays :V

"You're not funny, Mr. Munson." You chastise him, the brown curls of his hair tickling the tip of your nose.

Lifting his face to look at you, his brown eyes are warm and sweet, and his smile is big and bright.

"Yeah? And I think you're beautiful." It's sincere falling from his pretty pink lips, sickeningly sweet. It's so sweet in fact you could get a cavity.

Wrinkling your nose, you try with all your might to stop the smile that begs to be shown. You're quick to lose the battle as your mouth curls upwards and your teeth begin to poke through, shining like the lights on a Christmas tree.

"Also, I love you." Eddie adds, the dimples on his cheeks deepening as his lips stretch more.

Again, you roll your eyes playfully before kissing the sweat soaked skin of his forehead.

Aeolus character design process!

(disclaimer: my writing sucks and I'm not good at explaining things so if it gets a bit weird just know I'm trying my best)

a lot of people have been saying very nice things about my character design for Aeolus in EPIC, and that makes me really happy! So I decided to break it down to show you guys my full process in designing them! :D

When I first listened to the snippet of Keep Your Friends Close I was very excited that this old bearded god man was going to be interpreted by a girl, so the first concept I had was to maximize this contrast by also making my Aeolus appear as a child. Aside from the contrast thing, it would also tie in with their playful personality. Here are some of the sketches I did at the time (around 2022):

Since the beginning I always had the clown aesthetic in mind. Not sure why, just thought it matched the cute playfulness of the character. It was fun combining wind/cloud stuff with the clown aesthetic, like the cloud around the neck and wrists, which was supposed to resemble those ruff thingies that clowns usually wear.

I experimented with a lot of elements, like the headband and the cropped shirt, but I decided to remove and recicle them in other EPIC characters (Odysseus and Circe). Their design was also more feminine, and since I was aiming for a more androgynous look this would be changed later.

I remember around this time I saw a video of Jay where he said he envisioned Aeolus having a more calm nature aesthetic, so I decided to change my design to better match what he had in mind. I made the hair wavier, with clean and smooth lines, made sure that Aeolus would act less clown-like, rarely stand up and never abandon the cloud. These doodles better resemble the current design:

it was also around this time that I designed the island in the sky. My biggest inspiration was New Super Mario Bros. WII world 7, mainly because of the chill vibes and cute fluffy clouds. So I took that and threw the combined aesthetic of a child's playroom and ancient Greece temple on top of it and it was done.

I'm very proud of it, I think it matches the themes and feelings I had in mind while also translating their personality quite well. The color palette is a simple blue/yellow/red, but the simplicity helps to complement the childish appearance. Their outfit is comfy, cute, and something you'd like to sleep in. The round shapes makes them adorable. Overall a cute little gremlin that is also a very powerful god.

⥾ Aries Observation ⥾

❁ Being the leader or always just take the natural lead in any situation, it’s how they show they’re care for people (or someone) they want to lead them the way to success, and of course holding hands because they’re so affectionate.

❁ Ususally have a good head of hair or cute chin or dimple chin, maybe small cute jawline.

❁ May had scars on their head/faces any kind of injury towards the face or birthmark on their face or head. Have nice bone structure. Might have a mole on the face or a mole around the chest area (if have heavy Aires placements) also might’ve gotten hurt a lot during they’re childhood or from a sport they did.

❁ Suffer from head colds often, sinuses prone. Since they’re fast thinkers or thinkers in general, they suffer from headaches.

❁ They carry a lot of stress from being the best, when do they have time to actually be weak? Never. Because Aries are never weak, it’s just temporary if they have that feeling.

❁ They’ve been to the ER a couple of times but if they can handle it or fit it themselves, they’re resilient don’t underestimate that.

❁ With all the sickness they come with they surprisedly heal fast.

❁ Love their hair being stroked (Aires women love their hair being played with or combs, my cousin is an Aries with thick hair and she would always want me to do her hair.)

❁ If you hate on an Aries you hate being passionate or willing to put your efforts out there. I never meet an Aries that wasn’t confident in their own personality or they grew into that.

❁ Aries carry’s the best qualities of all the zodiac signs mostly physical.

❁ Never meet an Aries that didn’t pass up a good happy hour, or an aesthetically pleasing drink menu!

❁ They say Aries have big foreheads because that’s where they’re horns are supposed to be (same with Capricorns)

❁ Aries Venus is kid like love, almost like highschool sweethearts lovers forever love. (My Gemini Venus is weak)

❁ Aries women are powerful in the color red. SexyyRed wears red all the time and she’s at the peak of her career.

Alastor Redesign

Omg there’s like over 70 people following me – guys I'm o///O flattered and flabbergasted.

Anyway, onto today’s main event, Alastor. I hate Alastor’s og design, I hate his twig waist and his shoulder pads and the way you can’t see his antlers next to his ears, and his bow tie ugh viv please and his HAIR what even is that??? Not even mentioning that nothing about his design is really like a focal point. There’s no one thing that’s particularly interesting. At least before this he had that cathedral window looking cross on his undershirt that I found interesting. Nothing about his says he’s from the 1930’s other than dialogue.

I wanted him to be in greyscale because that’s the coolest aesthetic, and colored photos weren’t a thing until way after the 30s. Recently I saw jjk, and Jogo’s teeth threw me because at some points I thought he was just straight up toothless. But then when I started this design, that colored tooth look spoke to me. Initially his teeth were yellow to look gross like he never brushes them, but then I was like ‘ayo wait, he’s literally a cannibal’, thus his vibrant red teeth to really pop against his greyscale. Initially his undershirt was white, but I feel like that was too much contrast and white is typically innocence, so by instead having a deep red it shows he’s just straight up bloodthirsty underneath his formal appearance. I also considered it being black, but then he looked like a pastor, and I wasn’t too much of a fan of it. The idea of the red on his design is that it leads your eye down his design to take it all in, with his face being the focus. I gave him glasses because I like the way it obscures his eyes a bit and I imagine they do the anime thing where they glow and hide his eyes. I liked Viv’s idea of sinners having marks where they died, and I slicked his hair back to show it off very prominently. His antlers are larger, I gave him cute lil deer ears. Also, under his suit he is lowkey buff. I feel like a serial killer should at least look physically capable of taking someone down not whatever the fuck viv’s nasty twig men can do. Like, in that comic with the cute sheep girl, when Alastor goes demon mode his body looks so snappable I just wanna like grab his waist in my hands and break it like a twig. I also tried to keep his design simple as if this were for animation, I know pinstripes are complicated and so are antlers but other than that I tried to keep his design basic.

If I were to rewrite him based solely on the pilot, I honestly wouldn’t change a thing. Alastor is a decent character, his voice actor gives him life, the radio filter is cool, and nothing he did made me want to break my screen (ANGELDUST). The only thing I'd change would be his position in hell. Like, viv’s hell is so wack and I hate it, she’s got the princes, then the goetia and the overlords and then sinners and blah blah, it’s a lot to keep track of, not even mentioning the rings and circles thing. I think Alastor should have had dealings with hell as a human, maybe he routinely did sacrifices or something, and he made a deal with the archdemon Alastor and when he died like... uuhhhhhhh. Maybe through connections he’s gained more power? Idk, I just know I hate the idea of his dying and then having like the bestest most powerful demon powers despite not being hellborn. It’s got this mary sue stench. I’ll figure it out, maybe, who knows.

I’m not gonna start rewriting since there’s nothing to go off of and alter yet, so that’s gonna have to wait until the show actually drops before anything concrete happens lol.

Also the sheep girl is a sinner that reoccurs in the show now so sorry I don’t make the rules, you can’t give me a cute sheep girl and try to take her away, I’m gonna redesign her and shove her into the plot as someone looking for redemption at the hotel
