Do you guys subscribe to the theory that (at least, starting in NuWho) the Doctor can, somewhat, subconsciously control his regenerations?
Like, of course, 8 wanted to be a warrior, so he became the War Doctor (I know that he drank a potion for that, but that might’ve just been lemonade according to the Target Novelization).
War wanted to be the hero, to earn the title, the Doctor, again, so he became 9.
9 wanted to be someone who was the perfect partner to Rose (human), so he became 10.
10, in his vanity, wanted his final regeneration to be young, so he became 11.
11, after all the heartache, wanted to be more distant (and also what they said in series 8), so he became 12.
12 wanted a kind, fresh start, so he became 13.
13 wanted to open up to someone, so she became 14.
14 wanted time to heal, so he split off 15.
This is not an original theory, and I'm not even saying that I buy into it fully it, but it's interesting. It would be interesting if the Doctor had a tiny bit of control over their regeneration (Romana did, somehow) and most of the time his wants either backfire or only half work.
What do you think?

oh god, rereading my last AO3 update of Regenerate and it's breaking my heart. these characters and the world i took from canon and made my own are so real?? i DID that?
These lines hurt:
"I devour the remains of a box of sandwiches. Some places have reopened for emergency services. Kind people. Making sandwiches at the end of the world." "She puts my hair into a band again. The familiar tug and snap takes me back fifty years. No memory, just the feeling. Gone, slowly."
I so need to start writing again. It felt so satisfying.

“A recent study published in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience demonstrated that while most forms of exercise slow down age-related decline, dancing has even more profound benefits. Considered a psychosocial intervention, dancing combines the mood-elevating effects of increased social interaction with improvements in brain function, cardiac fitness, and overall quality of life. Mastering new rhythms, steps, and formations, in combination with increased social engagement, provides a boost to brain activity that creates additional cognitive benefits.”

In this domestic garden, every leaf is a proclamation of sustainability, every stem a testament to the simple yet profound act of regrowth. Through the lens, the photo captures not just greenery, but a narrative of an empty space transformed into a space of self-sustenance, where the act of regrowing becomes a daily celebration of nature's resilience and the joy of a thriving, regenerating ecosystem.

(@ my fic readers) pls don't be mad at me for not updating Regenerate but instead creating a spin-off of the gritty!Ace in "these are our bones" and putting her in the "a boy and his dog" (1975) universe to do mad science and get lackadaisical vengeance on rapists and wasteland warlords while making a safe haven for young girls and one very obnoxious teenage boy and his telepathic dog

as her writer i'm still not sure which is scarier feral Ace or apathetic Ace
feral Ace does immense and immediate damage, including to herself. apathetic Ace allows damage to occur over time, including to herself.
For fun, I've decided to combine the two and practice with Bored Ace! who has both apathy and manic energy in the same instance and will willingly cause immense damage immediately and repeatedly because "why not nothing matters and also I can."
I like bored Ace. She feels the most like real Ace, especially to her.
