Scripture without words, Troll style
A Japanese Buddhist priest, speaking of a particular shrine in Kyoto and the setting in which it was situate, remarked that
Man reads in the silence scripture without words.
Such might also be said of Trolldom in and around the Troll County district, given their Animist religious ways (or what could pass for them), emphasising as they do nature-worship which dovetails nicely with the Greater Trollsthetic emphasising a closeness unto Nature given their role as guardian spirits therefor and thereof.
And if there were ways such could best the trollmagined, picture groups of, or even singular, Trolldom kneeling or otherwise sitting in a meditative position in some area of most wondrous beauty in silence, reflecting on the introllconnexion. Perhaps even while holding breath underwater at the bottom of some lake or spring, and in nakedness besides.
Or even while watching (respectfully, mind you) animals in their mating exercises, sensing a fascination for such exercises as ensure survival of a species also being naturally enjoyable; a reminder, in a way, that sex is meant to be delightful and enjoyable, and that the naked Troll body is something to be regarded with awe and wonder rather than subjected to pornographic humiliation.
Which, thankfully, may be close to a troll's heart, but they don't let such excesses of devotion get too much over their heads, Rather, Trolls sense this nature-worship as something unique to their culture and folkways such as makes them what they are.
In essence, a Troll "scripture without words."

Oh to be a priest getting head from some sinful piece of devil’s fruit in the confessional. Grunting and muttering scriptures while I rut my cock deeper in their warm throat to try and repent. The rosary in my hand tangling in their hair from forcing them farther down to hush their whimpers from the innocent people praying outside.
Pumping my load down their throat and pulling them off when I had my fill, watching the ungodly sight of their tear coated face smiling and tugging on my robe shamelessly for more. Knowing that I shouldn’t go farther. Hell, knowing I shouldn’t even been allured by the subtle temptations they gave during service like flashing their panties or bending over just enough to see down their shirt under the eyes of god.
Yet, I’m no better than any other man. And if it means purifying this wicked lust out of something that’s supposed to be so pure, then a few sessions of repentance shouldn’t be too wrong.. Right?

The think pieces I could write on how Falin’s first appearance as a chimera- with her elegantly settling down onto the ground while simultaneously crushing one of Kabru’s team members beneath him is metaphorical of the worship and image Marcille (as well as Laios) has of Falin no matter the circumstances.
It’s near biblical the way they perceive her under desperation to have her back. Obviously they both love and admire her but it’s so easy to see when Falin falls into being a little sister or silly friend to either of them when they’re safe and comfortable, but the way they truly see her is so real. She’s graceful, gentle, flawless in every moment. Hell even as she’s murdering people Marcille says that Falin is just confused. Kabru tells her that she doesn’t care how many people would die if it meant she got to save Falin and he’s right. All her sins are absolved under what she means to them.
To Marcille and Laios to even be near Falin is a grace unparalleled, to be in her presence and acknowledged by her is divinity and nothing else compares. They are elevated only by the privilege of loving her in the ways they do and the privilege of being able to protect her.
Anything less is a failure to the love she so generously, selflessly provides.

Worship is just another form of human egotism.  To believe that something is outside you and even greater than you is done due to lack of inner identity.  When you know yourself, you have no lack.  When you have no lack, there’s nothing to worship.

Let me make this very clear:
When it comes to Hellenic Polytheism, there is no human religious authority, especially not one that stands before or speaks for the gods.
It does not matter what someone tells you. It does not matter if they claim to be a priestess/priest of X deity or a messenger for Y deity. It does not matter what their supposed past life was like. It does not matter if they claim to be the literal fucking Oracle of Apollo.
No one has the right to tell you how to worship the gods. No one has the right to assert their authority over your religion.
And most of all, remember that people can and do lie.

Holding a sub's chin tight in my hand, seeing their desperate desire in their eyes, mouth salivating, wanting, needing me to use it. Seeing how pretty they look on their knees before me, babbling and whining over how much they need me, how they'll do anything for me in them
You'll do anything really, my little angel? You need me more than the air you breath? Go on then, seeing as you're on your knees— praise and pray for me in you as your god~

Me: *choking them and slowly tightening my fingers while watching the light dim in their eyes* Such a pitiful sight.. I wonder. Would you die for me, my love?
Them: *smiling and dazed from being in and out of consciousness while nodding to my words with their last breath*
Me: Then I guess you better start praying to the god of yours before it’s too late darling.

Love how Zolu and Sanuso are both extremely poetic in their own ways. Because Zoro and Luffy could say "I'd go to hell and back for you. I would crave your name on my skin with my blades only for the universe to know I'm yours. I'd scream your name so loud so the Gods know I worship you as such. If my last breath is used for your will and honor, I'll die happily. I want to consume every part of you and live within your heart and soul" but Sanji and Usopp would also say "You're the stars I can't reach and the sea I want to drown in. You're so close yet so far away my heart aches with yearning. I stare at you from across the ship waiting and longing and hoping for you to let me in. We're the same, yet so different. I'll do what you can't do, and you'll do what I can't. You say you're nothing but you're everything to me. Every dream. Every hope. Every sigh. I'd give up the entire love of thousands for only a bit of yours" and I think it's really nice <3

I must admit that despite my typical hesitation to make direct comparisons from fantasy d&d worlds to modern politics the best analogy I can find for the people joining the Ruby Vanguard is the modern (20th century to present) support of right-wing populism. I think many of the people who follow those leaders do have legitimate concerns and needs that aren't being met; I think the frustration and disillusionment is very real; but also they are latching onto an extremely powerful guy who is using them, isn't actually helping them, and to follow him requires a willingness, bordering on eagerness, to fuck over your neighbors. And in the end he's not here to help you, he's just bringing in a force of psionics who will mind-control anyone who dissents. The only rather cold comfort is that they'll probably kill him first.

omg soldier, poet, king is NOT a Christian worship song
folks on tiktok being like YALL DIDN'T KNOW IT WAS ABOUT JESUS??? and "better take it off my dnd playlist now!!!"
it's not about jesus holy fuck, i mean, it is, but it isn't.
Dear Wormwood is a concept album that uses biblical symbolism to talk about an abusive relationship. The Oh Hellos have a whole ass THING about retelling stories (biblical, mythological etc) to use to deal with your own story which is like...a whole thing in storytelling anyway (the new testament is a monomyth yall, Hero's Journey 1.0, in that regard everything is biblical)
Dear Wormwood is put in the context of someone writing letters (inspired by The Screwtape Letters, CS Lewis) to their abuser. "Soldier, Poet, King" is from the perspective of the protagonist, on the receiving end of the abuse, who (after the song "Exeunt") is escaping from the abuse and attempting to continue their life outside of it. The person who is the soldier, poet, king, is the protagonist. "your city" is the abusive relationship. "Wormwood" is the devil of this person's life.
If you look on Genius, yeah the story is about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. In context? It's about the Second Coming of the protagonist. The rebirth they get after escaping.
The ending song of the album, "Thus Always to Tyrants", the last line of the album is
Where I go, will you still follow? Will you leave your shaded hollow? Will you greet the daylight looming? Learn to love without consuming?
The protagonist is attempting to mentally escape from the abuse, worried about carrying the trauma into the next relationship.
Soldier Poet King is not about Jesus. It's about fighting. It's about escaping the cycle of abuse. It's about the power that resides in stories, about people who have experienced this before and succeeded. It's about using those stories and learning from them.
Keep the shit on your dnd playlist, it's sort of the whole point.

the papier-mache walls of the shrine in kanqah naqshband sahib in srinagar, kashmir, built in its current form in 1633. the complex is dedicated to bukharan baha' al-din naqshband, who founded the naqshbandi sufi order, and is a mausoleum for one of his descendants. the shrine is a site for ziyarat as it contains what's said to be a lock of the prophet muhammad's hair.
