I loved this theme, since I thought it was cute.

Honestly, I like the idea of ​​Shigaraki being the final villain more than AFO, especially since this way Midoriya's dilemma of whether or not to save Tomura would be more palpable than having AFO going around and knowing that AFO represents the generic version of evil and final boss of the shonen, it would even be interesting that AFO ends being destroyed by AfoMura and that after this is the meeting between Tomura and Midoriya, with the latter trying to reach Tomura and help him get rid of the part of AFO that is inside him.

Although if I may say; my preferred lead up to their conflict would more be that Tomura gets freed from the AFO vestige (maybe with Deku's help, but maybe not; depends on where everyone ends up), then he helps Deku fight Prime!AFO and steals all his quirks so the heroes can detain him easily, only to then tell Deku something like:

"Look, you helped me, saved me even, and I helped you in turn. But I still have beef with everything you represent and I'm pretty sure you feel that same about everything I represent. Taking this human tumour down together didn't change who either of us are. So what now?"

Something to that effect anyway. I just prefer their conflict involve Tomura's ideological differences with the heroes, and the need for Deku to prove the system is trustworthy under him (saving him from his distrust, basically), over saving him from just AFO and riding his presumed gratitude to an easy resolution. Anyway, from the above interaction, I still think we could lead into a My Hero part II; but if we got a Naruto vs Sakuke-type resolution with Deku & Tenko here and now, I guess that’d be okay too.
