Sambal Goreng Shrimp
This Sambal Goreng is perfect if you enjoy spicy meals! Bold and satisfying without being overpowering is this classic Indonesian dish. Known by many different names, sambal goreng is a class of Indonesian meals that begin with frying sambal in hot oil to create a spice paste known as bumbu. Sambal is a chili condiment that is used throughout Indonesia and comes in hundreds of varieties. The essence of a superb sambal goreng is in the sambal itself, and this particular rendition is aromatic with shallots, ginger, and tamarind, as well as the distinctive spiciness of chiles. When cooked, this meal has an amazing fragrance that I like. It tastes great with a side steam rice.

A 15 minutes bus trip from my house came this Pork & Shrimp Dumpling Noodles (水饺面). Mum bought from Choo Chiang Roasted Meat Noodle House (珠江烧腊面家) at the end of her marketing and makan (Malay word for food or to eat) trip. I love their plump dumplings which had been on a shrinking routine and are smaller than before. :( Luckily, the springy noodles are still up to standard, coated in savoury brown sauce with pieces of fried pork lards. The sambal chilli paste gave it a spicy kick and impart umaminess to the noodles.

Malaysian Style Okra and Shrimp
One of the best Malay dishes to eat with sambal sauce is okra with shrimp. There are several kinds of sambal sauce, a chile condiment consumed all over Indonesia. A delightful and more palatable Malaysian dish is made of sautéed okra with shrimp, brightened with lime zest, and served with a punchy, subtle sauce made of hot sambal oelek, aromatic ginger, and garlic. Savored with piping-hot rice or noodles.
