God-sisters, Besties, Fine Ass Gworls. 💕
Fun fact: Aura, Monet, and Bess (yes, scamming as EcoLifestyle ass Bess) are all best friends. Monet & Bess were roommates in college. Bess messed around with Dre (Aura's older brother) for a little bit during their 1st year in college (until He decided to go into the Military). Fast forward to Monet's post grad life, Aura came to stay with her during her internship in San Myshuno and that's when She met Bess (since she lived across town in Evergreen Harbor). These 3 would go out damn near every weekend and that's how Bess & Aura grew closer together. Bess was actually the one who told Aura about the job opportunity at Sollitto Enterprises (Moe was looking for a new Assistant and that's how Aura and Moe met and later on started dating).

Theoretically, we are aware that the earth is spinning, but in reality we do not notice it: the ground we walk on seems to be stationary and gives no cause for alarm. The same happens with Time.

Do BB!Jay and Poppy ever become friends again? Obviously there's... the Whole Kits Thing but IDK I just like seeing them be friends. I think they should have been friends in canon but god forbid Jayfeather hangs out with anyone except the Three (and Hollyleaf before she dies and then she dies again)
It doesn't happen for years. Poppyfrost wanted to move on SO bad, and she's chronically avoidant of any legitimate problems. If left to her own devices, she would have kept dodging him until the day she died.
(Poppy with her garden like "I Just Want To Grill.")
I think what changed was Dovewing leaving.
Poppyfrost is one of the last people who talks to her before she Hits Da Bricks, not knowing that she was close to a boiling point. She was FINALLY going to be brave about it and chat with her 'niece' after being distant her whole life so far. And uh... it didn't end well.
Too little too little too late, really. But it killed her, that when she finally mustered up the courage it basically pushed Dovewing over the edge.
But after that, with Dovewing leaving completely and disavowing her garbage family for how they all hurt her or failed to protect her, Jayfeather can't keep doing this shit. Poppyfrost avoiding him and refusing to talk about it
He KNOWS it's just as hard on her as it is on him. And that her breath catches uncomfortably when she looks at him. How long are they going to live like this? Badly pretending that nothing happened while they're both obviously in the middle of a big mess of their mutual making?
I haven't written on it yet but I imagine he cornered her while alone, and ended up actually, legitimately chasing her down. Like,
"Poppyfrost. You're bottling something up again."
"Aaaaaahaha idk what you mean. What. Huh."
"Yes you do, this is getting absolutely ridiculous. I'm blind not stupid, you can't pretend our secret codebreaking lovechild didn't--"
"BYE"
"What do you MEAN BYE IM- HEY!! POPPYFROST!!!!"
Something about the way that EVERY time Poppyfrost turns her head, Jayfeather is there. Once a comfort, then an inescapability, and someday... back to something comfortable.
Never the way it was, but better than it is when she's bolting through the woods trying to pretend her problems don't exist.

watched paper hearts again yesterday and i'm never not floored at "it's not her." / "it's somebody though." no matter how many times i see it...it's such a grounding moment in a very intense and heavy episode, and there will always be at least one line in the midst of the most haunted and erratic mulder arcs that stays so true to the core of who he is.
standing in that autopsy lab, it really might all be over. he might not be able to search anymore. he might not be able to hope anymore. he might not be able to do the only thing he's ever done every day for 24 years anymore, and he doesn't know who he is without it. what would he do? paper hearts is my favorite episode, because it's so physical. it's almost punitive, how earthly it is. in this moment, he might be standing over his baby sister's corpse, and it's bones clawed out of the dirt. there's a palpably crushing weight to it, you can practically feel him shake through the screen.
when scully comes in with the lab results and says it isn't her, he buckles for a moment when he takes in that breath. but it's only one beat before he stands and replies: "it's somebody though."
it could've all been over, in that moment, and when it's not there is no relief. the way that he turns on that line and looks away, is visibly trying to keep from crying. he's grieving. it's not her but it's somebody, another ghost in a paisley nightgown that will follow him forever.
that's the depth of paper hearts: it's a samantha-arc episode but it's not really about sam, not really. it's about addie sparks. it's about karen ann philiponte. it's about sandra altman, and elsa houbox, and patricia fulton, and kathleen morrow, and elaine shawkowski, and kelly canne, and marla greene.
in the final scene, when the conclusion is "it's not samantha," it isn't a victory. there is no reprieve. he stares at the final heart with weary tear-filled eyes, and then shuts it in his desk drawer, another failure that will always be close by.

I really miss my wild self. The version of me that doesn't care what other people think. The one where I can be myself in every kind of way. The one who speaks her mind. The strong one that can overcome anything. The one where i loved my body. The one where I loved myself. I feel like I've lost her and I can't wait to find her again. Until we meet again🩷
