Here to set aside the biggest and most common misconception in the fandom: witches can actually swim.
Most people think that, since the sea is boiling enough to be a fatal threat, witches just can’t swim. This is canonically incorrect. In Understanding Willow, we learn that Willow and Amity took swimming lessons together as kids. And on top of that, the fact that Willow was participating suggests the practice isn’t just for higher-echelon families, and the fact that Willow and Amity were taking lessons together suggests classes are in multitude and large, otherwise Amity wouldn’t have been permitted to learn with Willow.
Take note of something Hunter said in his debut; “’round these parts, the steam alone is enough to leave third-degree burns”. Round these parts. My theory is that particular place, being an island, is more prone to boiling rainstorms than other places, such as alcoves or lakes. Therefore, the sea boils there. I reckon freshwater and secluded sections of sea are cool enough to swim in. Or maybe they have pools in the Boiling Isles, but the scene with young Willow and Amity escaping their swimming teacher takes place at "Lake Lacuna” as Amity puts it, so there are canonically safe bodies of water in the BI.
Just realized that in Hunter has a different outfit in almost every episode he's in
In "Separate tides" he's wearing his full golden guard attire
In "Hunting Palismen" he spent most of the episode wo his cape, tunic and mask
In "Eclipse lake" he's wearing a regular coven scout uniform
In "Any sport in a storm" He actually had three different outfits: the GG uniform wo the cape, the potion track heckside uniform and the flyer derby uniform
Hunter's outfit in "Hollow mind" is his formal clothing, but without the mask and with the addition of the golden guard sigil on the cloak
And in "Labyrinth runners" Hunter's in his trash goblin clothes, that are basically his flyer derby uniform (wonder how he got it though. He sure didn't have it with him or go to the castle to retrieve it. Ang thoughts on this?), a patched cape and the little collar thingy, dunno what to call it
And chances are, he's gonna get new clothes the next time we see him.
Dunno what the point of this post was, I mostly just needed a valid reason to save more pics of my boy. And a funny thing i've noticed is that he's always wearing heels, this kid is fabulous and I love him for that.
The tragedy is that in both these instances, he is pliant in Belos's grip. This is the abuse narrative in a nutshell. However: in the second frame, he has had the freedom to explore who he truly wants to be and why. Therefore he is fighting to distance himself from Belos under the weight of the latter's possession: as opposed to running himself into the ground trying to get closer to Belos in his old life as the Golden Guard, wondering what he did wrong when instead, it was his 'uncle' who was the problem the entire time.
I've started a small project to comemorate 2A releasing a year ago :3
Every sunday, the day each episode completes one year I'm making a drawing for it! And here's how its going so far!
2A has a real special place in my heart, it's such a good first half, so full of amazing episodes. I love 2B to death as well, but 2A hits it in a different way, and I kinda miss it
