I considered putting a black square here today. But I chose this photo I took when the sky was splitting in two as a storm rolled in and covered the sun. I thought it more fitting. Black to many is the absence of everything including life but nothing is so black and white. Many of us lost a friend this weekend. I haven't really processed it yet... My emotions are in turmoil. Bubbling with mixed emotions of shock and sorrow and something I can't name. So I think I'll tell you a little about her. She loved fire, even before she became a fire spinner. I watched her learn. She could spin poi for hours, and it was always beautiful. It was like she'd always known how. She was wicked good with computers and got paid well. She was the person who walked away to become a bike messenger because she got to be active outside all day. She'd tell stories of bouncing off of cars like it was nothing. She was a force of nature. She was passionate in everything she did. She could argue her passions for hours on end. She was goofy and serious, mean and gentle. She was ever changing. She was beautiful and flawed. She was good at being strong but she battled so much inside. A person could know her for years and never know her struggles except for the bits she couldn't hide. She was fragile inside. To be sure, I have never before met, and will never again meet such a multi faceted person. Because I'm not sure about the families wishes in this matter. Because it is so fresh. I won't be sharing her name. Welcome to the most complete representation of my views on the current political situation here in the United States. I'm not titling it but please suggest any that come to mind, maybe you'll end up naming it 😁. The base for this was a very random carving in white marble. After a bit of time with a Dremel I had my new canvas. A lot of paint, some wood, sculpey and gold to be showered upon the representation of The Cheeto. For some reason a lot of my 3D mixed media ends up being political but my paintings and drawings almost never are.
