5 Fun Ideas for Your Agere/Littlespace Bag!
Ciao lovelies! Before I begin, I’d like to thank one of you lovelies, named Isobel, for the suggestion behind this post! I am slowly working my way through the requests currently in the blog post request form, but don’t let that discourage any of you from sharing your requests! ^-^ and thanks for the patience on that so far! In today’s post, to answer Isobel’s request for something related to an agere bag, I will be sharing 5 fun ideas for your agere/littlepace bag! Including decoration ideas, things to pack within, and some subtle/discreet regression ideas too! I hope you like this post, and let’s get into it!
Once again, thank you Isobel for this suggestion!
I know many of my fellow age regressors / littles out there can’t openly be themselves for fear of judgment or bullying, so a lot of you have to be discreet or subtle about your littlespace. I wish we could live in a world that’s more open and accepting to everyone, but for now, this list has some discreet regression suggestions for you ! Let me know if you’d like to see more ideas like that in the future!
5 Fun Ideas for Your Agere/Littlespace Bag!
IDEA #1: Personalize / Decorate a Plain Backpack!
there are many other ways to make your agere bag unique! You could use patches, buttons, keychains, fabric paint….there’s a lot you can do with a plain backpack! For those worried about being discreet, you can always explain a cute bag as kawaii or alternative fashion inspired, and doubly so if you use fandom decorations from shows you like when small! :)
Your bag would be super personal to you, and also shows your secret little side~!
Now let’s move to some ideas of items that can be packed in your bag for discreet regression!
IDEA #2: Subtle Babey Snacks!
It’s super easy to bring along snacks like fruit snacks, goldfish, bite size muffins, etc, and these can double as regression snacks!
I personally like goldfish, fruit snacks, and scooby snacks! (Scooby snacks are also good for those of you who pet regress!)
You can take this a step further with cute or kawaii food storage containers, or just tupperware that you can cover with stickers!
IDEA #3: Personalize your Devices!
So you could get a cute phonecase , which is an easy and cute way to feel little, but you could also personalize your phone or mp3 player with things like cute stickers on the outside! AND, now with the iphone updates, you could customize the icons in your phone, lockscreen images, etc! :) You could even make your passcode a secret reference to a small time show you like !!
Another thing you can do is DIY a cute case for your phone out of felt! Check out THIS DIY from OFT’s past where I made a cute cat pouch for your device!
IDEA #4: Tiny Toys!
Okay, this is a little less subtle, but you can bring small toys or minifigures in your small bag! It may feel a little uncomfortable to do so at first, but you can give a lot of reasons for this!
Possible explanations for toys in your bag:
“I have a job as a babysitter after school and these are for the kids there.”
“I am an ameteur photographer and I like using these for practice.”
“I thought these looked cute and possibly would make nice fidget toys”
“I like to have something in my hands when I focus”
Etc, but you can also just give a simple:
“I think they’re cool.”
You don’t owe anyone an explanation for the things you like, and you don’t need to be ashamed. What you share with others is your business, and your business only!
IDEA #5: Cute Memo Pads!
This is a fun one, because it can be so easily explained and can add this awesome moment of cuteness and secret smallness to your day! A lot of people carry memo pads or to-do lists, and it’s not unusual to have cute ones! You can even pair this up with a kawaii pen or pencil, and it’s totally normal, and flies easily under everyone’s radar. Kawaii stationery has been a common interest for a while, so it won’t make anyone suspicious.
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this, Isobel, and everyone else as well!
And now the most important part: please remember to stay AWESOME and LOVE yourself!! You are epic, awesome, and amazing, and you deserve to know this each and every day! Be sure to give yourself positive affirmation each and every day!
I’ll see you in the next post, video, or whatever comes next!

Do you have recommendations for autism-friendly (or sensory friendly) evening activities a person with ASD could partake in with their NT partner?
Hi there,
Many articles I’ve found focused more on children, but I did find on that lists some things to do. It’s a long excerpt, so I apologize in advance:
Deep pressure activities involve applying pressure to the body, which can have a calming and grounding effect. Examples of deep-pressure activities include:
* Weighted blankets or vests
* Compression clothing, such as compression shirts or pants
* Swaddling or wrapping the body in a blanket
Tactile activities explore different textures and sensations. Examples of tactile activities include:
* Trying out various water temperatures, like slightly warm, room temperature, cold, and ice
* Making patterns on a surface using wet brushes/sponges or squeeze bottles filled with water.
* Touching or playing with different fabrics, such as silk or faux fur
Visual stimulation activities use the sense of sight to promote relaxation. Examples of visual stimulation activities include:
* Watching calming videos or nature scenes
* Using a lava lamp or other visual sensory toys
* Using a lightbox or projector to display images or patterns
Examples of DIY Sensory Activities for Adults with Autism
Sensory Bottles
Sensory bottles are easy to make and can provide visual and tactile stimulation. Simply fill a plastic bottle with water, glitter, and other sensory items such as beads or sequins, and seal the lid tightly. Individuals can shake the bottle to create a soothing visual effect.
Sensory Bins
Create sensory bins by using a plastic storage container filled with various sensory items such as rice, beans, or sand. Add small toys or objects for individuals to explore and manipulate, such as small plastic animals or scoops and funnels.
Fidget Toys
Fidget toys are small handheld objects that individuals can manipulate to provide sensory stimulation and improve focus. Examples of DIY fidget toys include creating a sensory bag filled with different textures or making a stress ball using a balloon and filling it with rice or flour.
Sensory Activities for Adults with Autism
Sensory activities are important not only for children with autism but also for adults.
Here are seven examples of sensory activities for adults with autism:
1. Yoga
Yoga is an excellent sensory activity. It improves body awareness and proprioception while calming the nervous system. It also provides a structured and predictable environment, allowing individuals to feel more in control of their bodies. Plus, it's a low-impact physical activity that enhances their coordination and balance. Yoga classes can be tailored to meet the unique needs and abilities of individuals with autism, and modifications and props can be used to provide additional support.
2. Massage
If you're looking for a relaxing and sensory experience, consider trying massage therapy! Not only can it help reduce anxiety by providing deep pressure input, but it can also improve body awareness and leave you feeling calm and centered.
3. Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy involves using essential oils to promote relaxation and reduce anxiety. Certain scents, such as lavender, can be particularly calming and can promote better sleep.
4. Dance Party
Dance parties are a fun and engaging sensory activity for adults with autism. They improve listening skills, coordination, and rhythm. It's a positive outlet for energy and reduces stress and anxiety. Dance parties can be done alone or in a group in a safe and welcoming environment. It is a way to express oneself creatively and emotionally while boosting self-esteem and confidence.
5. Popping Bubble Wrap
Bubble wrap popping is a versatile and enjoyable sensory activity for all ages, including adults with autism. The bubbles provide tactile input, while the popping sound offers auditory feedback. It's a simple yet effective way to manage stress and anxiety and can be done using hands or feet, making it a great addition to any sensory tool kit.
6. Pottery
Working with clay and creating pottery can be a therapeutic and tactile activity for individuals with autism. It can provide a sense of control and accomplishment, as well as promote relaxation and stress relief. The tactile sensation of working with clay can also provide deep pressure input, which can help regulate the nervous system.
7. Autism-friendly Beanbag Chairs
Beanbag chairs offer a secure and snug spot for people with autism to unwind and take part in various activities, from reading to sensory games.
Hopefully you and your friend can find something to do with these. The link will be down below if you want to read more:
Thank you for the inbox. I hope you have a wonderful day/night. ❤️

ADHD & Resources
ayantiel
I can absolutely recommend watching "the neuroanatomy of ADHD" by Russel Barkley, you can find the entire thing on youtube and I found it very informative in both explaining common issues and where they come from, and also giving direction in how to address those or where to start looking for coping mechanisms
Oh, thanks for the recc! Readers, part one is here. I’ll check it out! (Probably while doing something else with my hands. :D)
froofie
I do not have ADHD, but you mentioning needing something MENTAL to do when focusing on like meetings, etc...reminded me that I have ALWAYS, AUTOMATICALLY done the person speaking's hair in my head. I have zero interest in becoming a hairdresser. But my brain will brush hair or straighten hair or shave someone's face. It's very soothing actually.  This isn't to suggest that you do this, but I am reminded that it's something I just....do.
It’s a fun idea though. A lot of times if I don’t have to be on video I’ll do cross-stitch or assemble very simple "microblock” toys (my parents gave me this set as a gift a while ago). If I have to be on video usually I’m either leading the meeting or taking notes, and taking notes does a pretty good job of keeping me paying attention. I’m never sure if I’m supposed to allow as much digression as I do when I’m leading a meeting, but usually the meeting is like me and three people at work I really like, so. A five minute digression into childrearing (they all have kids at different ages so it’s helpful for them to compare notes) isn’t gonna kill anyone.
wandererriha
Mood. I have employed about all the life hacks I can manage. I refer to it as “stacking dominos” in that I am setting things up for Future!Riha to knock down later. This includes things like a laundry triage system that takes place at the hamper, packing lunch and prepping breakfast the night before, to making my own diy blister pack of supplements for the week.
Oh, I do the laundry triage and the make-your-own-pill pack too! I use a pillbox -- it’s hard to find a bit because it’s Japanese, but the Container Store makes a similar one that I’m loving for travel.
I never thought about meal prep as an ADHD thing but I suppose the massive stack of identically-sized tupperwares that used to populate my fridge when I worked outside the house should have been a clue.
shamelesslymkp
hey! my dad also got diagnosed with ADHD later in life, and I'm not sure if he'd already started doing this or started later, but what he does in meetings etc. is origami, which is kind of a mix between a body and brain fidget. the reason I bring it up - I know you do origami! - is because of the reactions he's gotten - if you doodle in meetings, people get annoyed. because he does origami and gives them to people, everyone thinks it's just a super cool quirk!
Oh that’s a good one! I used to do origami in part because I was a receptionist and it was something to do when nobody needed me (which was often). I’ve only got two or three “figures” memorized but if I memorized a few more I bet that would work pretty well.
froggybangbang
Dunno if she's been recced to you but catieosaurus has good stuff about papers on adhd on youtube.
Oh good to know! I’ll check her out. Though I do find it a bit funny that ADHD makes watching youtube rather difficult and yet that seems to be where all the resources are. At least they’re not instructional....
I do absolutely understand why so much is on YouTube, because talking to a camera is significantly easier than writing up a document with diagrams and such, but good lord I hate video instructionals.
killerzebras
Could you link to the resources people suggested, or maybe point to the posts where the suggestions were made? I don't have my shit together anywhere near as well as you do and I'm always looking for things that might help.
I’ve added links to a couple of new reccs above, and also I was recommended “How To ADHD” (specifically I was watching this one about Target). I was recommended a number of books but most of them I can’t find in a quick jaunt through my history, so The Smart But Scattered Guide To Success is the only one I can link. I haven’t read it because it looked like it answered a question I already answered for myself a while ago but it comes highly recommended.
If you have the time/ability, I’d look through comments and reblogs-with-notes on my posts in the “Sam Has ADHD” tag. There are definitely other resources recommended there in various places but also just the comments in general may be helpful. GOOD LUCK!

Hey so someone has definitely made this post before but I really wanna discuss it anyway so here we are - ADD/ADHD Roman is one of my favorite headcanons like ever?
As someone with ADD - which I didn’t even know until somewhat recently when I realized I doodle all the time because I can’t sit still without zoning completely out, among other things, then brought it up to my mom and she just said “Duh” - I just,,, it makes a lot of sense and I really love it so let me elaborate a little:
Roman who loses a ton of stuff, even the ones he just had in his hands where the frick did it go
He sometimes gets caught on a part of the conversation he’s in and goes on a mental tangent about it...
...and accidentally misses the last half of said conversation
He interrupts people sometimes - he doesn’t mean to, of course, but an idea occurred to him and he shared it immediately, which, yknow, isn’t great because then people roll their eyes at him and make pointed comments like “As I was saying,” and he’s left meekly nodding along
He has to move his hands at all times. For a long time, he occupied them absentmindedly by cracking his knuckles or scratching at his skin, but when Virgil noticed, the anxious side slyly mentioned fidget toys
(Roman looked them up later, when he was alone, and found pages of zipper bracelets and cubes with buttons and switches, and he was overjoyed at the amount of DIY projects ahead)
He doodles everywhere. Anytime he has a piece of paper near him, he doodles shapes and lines until they become pictures, sometimes as simple as an art mannequin, other times complex landscapes and detailed characters, but he started carrying a sketchbook with him so people wouldn’t tell him to stop drawing on his work
He has trouble hearing people sometimes - he’s hyperaware of the other noises around him, so when he sees their lips moving, it can be a struggle to comprehend their words at the same time and he’s left saying “...What?” before understanding a split second later and answering himself
He has trouble following instructions; he’s not a troublemaker, not like the looks that Logan used to give him implied, or the frustrated huffs even Patton gave him on occasion, he just has trouble completing a task in its entirety at one time, and he starts to deviate from the set path he was given instead
He climbs a lot
Like
A lot
Everywhere
He climbs the banister of the stairs and tries to shimmy up, he balances on the top of the couch, he drapes himself across counters, he sits with Virgil on random surfaces from time to time
He wishes he had the sharp focus of Logan, or the soft energy of Patton, but he knows he comes on strong and a little odd to other people - he sometimes feels like he can’t slow down, like he’s always in motion, until he’s not, and then he’s too stoic, too silent and stationary and faraway as he zones out for hours at a time
He tends to be really forgetful; he remembers small, random details, but he feels like everything he needs to know is exactly what flies from his mind when he needs it most
He worries far too often that he’ll disappoint someone, that he’ll fail Thomas or the other Sides or himself
It takes until them finding him crying on the stairs in the middle of the night for the others to realize his turmoil, to see the constant threat and pressure he’d put on himself to prove his worth, to prove he wasn’t stupid or conceited or pointless or annoying
And they crowd around him, hug him, and assure him that he’s brilliant and talented -
- he doesn’t realize that he creates beautiful, beautiful things in his unique spontaneity, paintings and music and stories, and even if not all of them get finished, he has so much potential and everything he makes, fully or partially, is a product of that potential.
I love ADD/ADHD Roman Sanders, thanks for coming to my TED talk

I love creating my own stim toys, and I also love collecting and making plushies, so it was only a matter of time before I came up with a plushie that incorporated elements of various stim toys. Enter Stimmy Sammy.
Tumblr media
This is Sammy. She is a palm-sized weighted fluffy bunny filled with rice that can be heated in the microwave or cooled in the refrigerator. Both her ears contain beads, creating a “boink”-like fidget like those sold at stimtastic. She also has a fuzzy Pom Pom tail to create varying texture.
Sammy is easy to make, even for a novice seamstress/tailor. She has only two pattern pieces, and is simple to assemble. I will say now that I used a high-pile (read: super fluffy) fake sheepskin fabric that is tricky to work with. For beginners, I recommend fleece. It’s easy to work with, doesn’t fray, and comes in literally a billion different colors and prints (okay maybe not literally, but there are a lot...)  Below are Stimmy Sammy’s construction instructions.
Step One: Materials
Sammy only requires a few materials. They include:
- Two colours of fabric
- About a quarter cup of dry, uncooked rice
- Two buttons or plastic safety eyes
- Two wood or plastic beads (not metal, otherwise she can’t be microwaved)
- One medium-sized Pom Pom
- A sheet of paper
- A pencil
- A ball-point, permanent, or fabric marker
- A sewing machine or needle and thread
Tumblr media
Step Two: Drawing the Pattern:
To start with, do a rough sketch of her body shape in a similar size as your palm. You only have to draw one side, as the paper will be folded in half to create a symmetrical pattern piece.
Tumblr media
Once you like your sketch, do a rough outline to mark your seam allowance. Typically this is about 1/4 of an inch, but I eyeballed it so I think mine is closer to 1/8.
Also draw out your ear piece. It’ll be a long oval that’s flat at one end. You can make this any size you want. Make sure to give it a seam allowance too.
Tumblr media
Next, fold the paper in half right down the middle of the pattern. If you’re like me, the middle of the pattern won’t be the middle of the page, so don’t worry of the fold is crooked. Cut the body and ear pieces out with paper scissors ( never use fabric scissors on paper as it will blunt them.)
Tumblr media
Step Three: Tracing and Cutting Out the Pattern Onto Fabric:
To start with, make sure your fabric is folded in half, so that when you cut out your pattern, you end up with two identical pieces. Be sure to fold the fabric so that the “wrong side” (the side that will be facing inwards once you flip your completed plush inside out) is facing up (this is also called “right sides together”: fleece fabric has no wrong or right sides, so if you use it, you can ignore this note.)
Pin the paper pattern pieces to the top of your fabric, and trace them with your pen.
Tumblr media
You will draw and cut out the ear pieces twice, once on the same fabric as the body, and once on the second fabric for a total of four identical pieces in two different colours.
Once you’ve traced your pattern pieces, remove the paper, pin the folded fabric together, and cut them out. Below you can see the two body pieces and four ear pieces cut out, with the “right” side on the left, and the “wrong” side on the right.
Tumblr media
Step Four: Pinning and Sewing:
We will start by sewing the ears. Place two ear pieces, one of each colour, right sides together, and pin them. Then use your needle and thread or sewing machine to sew them together, remembering to take your seam allowance into account. Leave the flat side unsewn.
Once sewn, the ears can be flipped inside out. You may need a pen or chopstick to help you if the opening is very narrow. The flipped ear is on the left, and the unsewn pinned ear is on the right.
Tumblr media
Now, take your two wooden or plastic beads, and insert them into the holes in each ear. Once the beads are in place, sew the flat side up.
Tumblr media
Take your two ears and pin them to the sides of the head on just one of the body pieces, like so:
Tumblr media
Now take the second body piece and lay it wrong side out over the first one, sandwiching the ears in between. Pin the body pieces together and sew them up. Tuck whichever ear you’re sewing over first into the head, and when you reach the other side, stuff the other ear in alongside it. Make sure to leave a gap near the top of the head.
Tumblr media
Step Five: Flipping, Stuffing and Eyes:
Flip Sammy inside out so that the right sides are on the outside and the seams are tucked in. You may need the chopstick again, as the feet and arms are rather fiddly. Locate where you want your eyes to go, mark them with a pin or pen mark, and sew on your buttons or insert your plastic eyes.
Tumblr media
Next, pour your rice into the body cavity, filling it as much as you want (I filled my bunny about halfway). You may need to massage it to work the rice into the feet.
Tumblr media
Fold over the raw edges of the hole, and sew it closed by hand. The final step is to stitch on the Pom Pom tail, and Sammy is complete!
This is Sammy hitching a ride in my pocket. I keep her head sticking out so I can stim with one of her ears as I walk.
Tumblr media
I microwave her for 20 to 30 seconds to make her nice and toasty. If she feels a little damp when you pull her out, that’s normal, it’s just the rice sweating and will dry quickly.
If any of you try this project and make your own Stimmy Sammy bunnies, do show me pictures, I’d love to see them!

[image description: a photo, taken on a red watermelon slice pillow, of four pieces of allo-aro pride merch using @arotaro‘s flag design: dark green, light green, white, yellow and gold (or darker yellow beads when gold isn’t available). From viewer’s left to right: a fishtail-braid bracelet made from embroidery floss; a pony-beaded gecko keychain fidget with coloured stripes running down the length of the gecko and bright pink claws; and two bead ring pendants. The pendants are composed of five beads each, either metallic or pearlescent, threaded on a silver split ring attached to a black braided necklace cord.]
Pride Merch Crafts
I also run the stim blog @stimtoybox, and since I’ve made quite a few DIY fidget toys in pride colours, it seemed natural to add allo-aro pride colours. Unfortunately, I didn’t have any pony beads that are a proper gold, so I used a darker yellow instead. I think it’s close enough to be going on with!
(On one of the bead ring pendants, it looks like the center yellow bead is more gold than the outer yellow bead, but in real life that isn’t the case! It’s just a lighter shade of pearly yellow.)
The bracelet is just a fishtail braid using embroidery floss. I use a small split ring to fasten it by wrapping the cord around my wrist and tucking the knot under the edge of the ring. I don’t have the ability to knot or unknot bracelets, and even sliding a knot or a bead through a loop of thread is difficult for me, so this is easier (but less secure). Wool, cord or yarn can also be used here, depending on what you have and how wide/thick you wish the bracelet to be. I found this video tutorial to be useful.
(You can also just plait/braid cord or thread, too, and there’s oodles of different friendship-bracelet styles. This article and this one show off a few more adult-style approaches.)
The gecko/lizard is a simple pony bead keychain. I used pink for the claws as a nod to the pink/green allo-aro flag variant, referencing the pink sexuality stripe. This tutorial linked on my stim blog is the one I’ve found easiest to follow.
The bead ring necklaces are my own design: pony beads threaded onto a split ring, attached to a cord with chain links. You can find a tutorial on my WordPress site (although I need to update the photos after changing URLs).
These are simple crafts, but for aro-spec, a-spec and LGBTQIA+ folks wanting merch and can’t find it for their identity, can’t find it in the preferred flag for their identity, or can’t afford to buy it from places like Etsy, I thought it would be good to demonstrate that there are DIY pride merch options!
I have the gecko attached to my backpack (which just happens to be yellow) and I have necklaces for all my identities that I alternate through depending on what else I’m wearing that day.

Low Impact Fidget Toys
This is a part two to this ask, where an anon with chronic hand pain wants fidget alternatives that are less likely to trigger said pain.
Please keep in mind, anon, that any toy can and will trigger pain if overused or misused, and your pain may be more severe than mine, so I’m not listing these so much as pain-free alternatives as less-pain alternatives. It also depends on how you use them: squishies are gentler for me to use, but not if I squish very hard using my bad thumb, for example. I do not recommend the use of even one of these for hours at a time without switching stims and taking rest breaks.
Links go to that item’s tag, which will include review and vendor posts.
Slime: The drawback to slime is that it’s best used at home where you can wash hands before and after use, but it’s much gentler on my hands than putty. I can stretch and squish it with very little stress. I find butter slime to be the best general-stimming slime, as it’s more like a dough-slime and can be rolled and moulded in hand as well as stretched and squished.
Kinetic Sand: This is another best-used-at-home toy, but I can press my hands into the sand, mould the sand like a dough and slowly dribble it onto a plate or bowl, making it very gentle to use. I hate to have to say this, but I find the Spinmaster-branded Kinetic Sand to be softer and fluffier, meaning I can pull it apart with less force, and I do recommend it as best for stimmers with chronic pain. I haven’t found a locally-available sand that is as easy for me to use. Maybe this isn’t the case outside of Australia, but here I do have to recommend the branded sand.
Squishies: In your case, anon, it may be better to buy these offline, as you can try them out in-store, as softness varies. You’ll want a soft, squishy, marshmallow-feeling squishy, with either a clip attachment--so you can clip it to something and not hold on to it--or large enough that it can sit in your lap. This lets you poke and squish at it more gently without the added pressure of holding the toy in your hands.
Jelly Squishies: I’m thinking less of the mesh-stress-ball sort and more of the filled-with-orbeez or slime sort. These are not good for forceful stimming, but if you want something to press and roll gently, they work well, and many are stretchable. (Note: they tend to have a plastic smell and stickiness; I dust mine with cornflour and leave in an open container to air.) You can make DIY versions by filling balloons with water beads/orbeez, too!
Plush: A very soft, plush toy with fake fur or other nice fabric textures can work well for stroking or, if small, rolling between your palms. Again, this is the sort of thing best purchased offline if possible, where you can test out the toy before buying.
Chenille: It’s more difficult to find these as pre-made toys--more often you’ll just find a duster mitt and have to fill it with stuffing/uncooked rice/uncooked beans/poly pellets yourself. A duster mitt, though, can be worn on one hand and stroked with the other, or placed in your lap. You can pull at the fronds, but more often I just run a hand through them for the softness of the fabric, as it’s longer and bulkier than plush toys. Please note that the softness of the fronds varies widely, so again, try before you buy to see which is softest.
Mermaid Sequins: You can find these in bags, clothing, pillow cases, eye masks, pencil cases, zip pouches, blankets, slap bands and journals, so it really just depends on which item works best for you! This is another stim where you just run your hand over the sequins, and I find it very good for being a low pain trigger. If you need to stim for longer periods of time, I recommend the mermaid sequins and the chenille as safer for this.
Hedge Balls and Dice: I just roll these between my palms, no gripping needed. Neither engrosses me for very long, but I do like having these to switch between other toys.
Stretchy Squish Ball: These are super light-weight and mouldable, made from a silicone skin with a light foam centre. You can grip and stretch them, which I find puts more pressure on my hand, or roll them, mould them, squeeze them and even toss them--there’s so many stim options here. I consider them a more-portable version of playdough, and when my hands aren’t good for grasping, gently rolling and shaping the ball between my palms works well.
Stretch Cord: I recommend these over mochi squishies (which also stretch) because they’re longer, meaning you can wrap the cord around your hands instead of gripping it. If you like stretching, this is the gentlest stretch stim toy I’ve come across. You can also press at the cord and flip it around a finger, depending on how much movement you have.
Fidget Stick: I hated these the first time I had them, but now I don’t try and do any of the tricks or flips. I just roll it between my palms or between one palm and my thigh. It’s not very varied, but it’s a simple, easy stim that doesn’t provoke much pain because most of the movement for me is in my shoulder and elbow.
Puffer Ball / Puffer Creature: Most of these have a strong chemical odour, but they’re very soft and gentle for squishing, far softer than even many squishies. You can also brush your hand through or pull on the fronds.
Marble Maze: I have to be a little careful with these, as gripping hold of the marble maze can trigger pain, but I can brace these against a thigh to push the marble around, so it can be done (although the latter is less subtle for public stimming). Mine are made with a minky fleece backing so I can use these as a stroking toy as well.
Koosh Ball / Bandy Ball: Like a puffer ball, these have fronds that can be stretched, but I often stim with these by tossing them from hand to hand or rolling them between my palms/between palm and leg. The bandy ball in particular has an elastic loop that can be dangled from a finger, meaning I can bounce the ball against my palm. Not suitable if you’re allergic or sensitive to latex.
Bean Ball / Crocheted Stress Ball: This is another stim toy that can be rolled between the palms. (I really do have an aversion to gripping toys.) This can also be tossed from hand to hand and gently scrunched.
Most of the other fidget toys I can think of tend to involve more hand movements or gripping. I love them, but I do have to use them carefully, so if you’re after toys to use to give yourself a break from Tangles, this is the direction in which I usually head.
I know your needs may differ from mine, anon, but I hope that this gives you somewhere to begin.
