You heard from Asmo that there is a new limited sheep themed cafe in Devildom

Apparently it's getting really popular and is trending on Fabsnap, the cafe not only have really cute sheep-themed and whimsical decors!! they also made sure their menu is also centred around the theme.

Asmo showed you some pictures of what he ordered when he went there,, they served sheep-shaped sandwiches and even warm cups of coffee, tea and hot chocolates in cute sheep-shaped mugs

Listening to Asmo gushing about the cafe, you decided to make a reservation later the same day to treat both you and Mammon!!

After making the reservation, you quickly send a message to Mammon on your D.D.D and told him to get ready.

Honestly imo i can kinda imagine him thinking that he's in trouble and texted back like "Uh oh, did I do something wrong-"

But anyways, after clearing that mini misunderstanding-- he's so def down to go to the sheep-themed cafe

He will 100% drive you with his car and speed to go to the cafe and will def tell you that he's great at driving while speeding- (rip /j)

Both of you are greeted by a cozy and charming cafe that have a pastel whimsical decor like sheep-themed wallpaper, many various sized sheep plushies and even a giant/life-size sheep statue that you can pose with!!

Mammon was just impressed at how many sheep stuffs there are cramped in the small cafe (& also plotting of ideas on making money off of sheep merch but thats another story fbdjkj)

You guys will take this opportunity to talk literally everything and enjoy having time to both of yourself

It will just feel like as though it's just the two of you and you guys get lost in your own world

If your favourite animal is not sheep, you would wonder if there will be cafes in that theme with Mammon!! Imagine if your favourite animal is crows and you just tell Mammon about it- he would actually think about pitching the ideas of having your favourite animal to cafe owners (and find a way to profit of the ideas-)

After enjoying and eating your meals, you both decide to share some sheep-themed desserts

Nearing the end of the date, both of you just sit back in your seats, content and happy to be able to share a wonderful time and make a precious memory with one another.

Then,, you notice a little speck of dessert on his mouth and lean over to kiss him.

He would def be so flustered and his face and ears are just flushed. Man will totally deny that he's blushing and is burning up because the weather is ho t or something,,

Before leaving the cafe, he will somehow be able to sneak and surprise you with matching sheep plush keychains for both of you as sweet reminders of your date together <3

Any favourite fics?

I admittedly haven't read a whole lot of bg3 fic, but like I mentioned in the last ask, I religiously read cheerysmores's stuff. I particularly like their Gale/Tav stuff--and it might be my Leo tendencies, but I can't help but LOVE this fic based on this piece I did 🤭 but seriously, any of their writing is tops. Their characterization of Gale is so. Good. And a lot of people seem to misunderstand him so it goes a long way for me (a trend you'll probably see in most of the following recs tbqh)

If you're into like the Hunger Games which I've been reading, I love Roses and Pearls which is an everlark au. Really really good!

Ik I have some entrapdak fans that follow me, and there are SO MANY good entrapdak fics on ao3 that I'm having a hard time narrowing it down, but if I HAD to give specifics, Sweet Raptured Light by Mazen SO GOOD. If one-shots are more your style (when I'm in a fic mood, I typically binge, so that's why a few of these are multichapter) Infinite by midwesterosi. I love "Against the Current" which I cannot find for the life of me right now, so if anyone has the link, lemme know I'll see if I can add it to this post.

My favorite SanSan fic (which I realize is gonna be a rarer pair) is like an epic it's so long and it's so delicious because the agency the author gives Sansa is so refreshing. She's really QITN material, but I'm not sure if/when it will be updated--it's 58 chapters rn with over 500k words tho so if you like the long haul you'll be pretty satisfied. That's kind of my main ones, I'm super open to fic recs but I kind of have to be in a mood sometimes to really sit and read (usually horizontal days for me where my body can't physically sit up which happens more often than I'd like!) but a lot of the ones I've mentioned, if the author posts something new I'll flock to it IMMEDIATELY because I love their stuff so much.

A few words about me and this blog.

[but before we go any further... even though this is a blog dedicated to Voldemort and Harrymort, I don't support Rowling or her views; hate and bigotry of any kind will not be tolerated here.]

I've been a fan of the Harry Potter series since I was a kid, but I've never interacted with the fandom actively - I never created any fanart, posts, fanfics etc., I only consumed and shared them. So, this is my first attempt at sharing my own theories and any other weird little thoughts I may have on the subject.

Even though I am open to different interpretations and opinions, I know that many may not share this view and may not want to follow me because of it (righfully so), so I'm going to write some of my hot (or maybe not so hot) takes that are my primary headcanons and/or interpratations of the text.

I'm not a fan of the movies. I think the changes made in them distort the characters, the plot and the overall story.

I don't believe Voldemort is insane and/or badly written. I may write a charcter analysis based on the books one day when I'll have the time and energy... and if anyone will be interested in reading it, of course.

At the same time I don't think that HP and its characters (including Voldemort) are great and with no faults. I love the concept of the series and the world created, but I will also be the first to critique it and point out its faults.

Lord Voldemort is Lord Voldemort. Confusing, I know. What I mean by that is that I don't like differentiating between Voldemort (the insane bad one) and Tom Riddle (the brilliant good one). Recently, I started to become disconnected from the trend in the fandom of treating Tom Riddle and Voldemort as separate entities. At the same time, I'm not gonna go around telling people to stop characterizing them, or thinking about them, in whatever way they like! It's just something that I became sensitive to and don't subscribe to anymore. 

Harrymort is the only pairing I am single-minded about. Any other ship (that doesn't involve Harry or Voldemort) I'm very neutral about.

I am a fan of female Harry, but only because of one particular fic - the Historical Importance of Runic War Warding in the British Isles by samvelg. It's my all-time favourite fanfic, and I have as much, if not more, headcanons and thoughts about this particular HP AU rather than the original HP. (At the same time, I am aware why genderbending is disliked by fandoms, and I do agree that many genderbent stories are not great. Many of them erase the lgbt+ represantation, which is what I am not at all about.)

I don't have a set gender identity headcanon for Harrymort (trans, cis, female, male, nonbinary... they are all very much appreciated).

However, my preferred sexuality headcanon for both Harry and Voldemort is either bisexual, pansexual or asexual.

I am firmly a bi-racial/having Indian ancestry Harry headcanon fan.

Recently I started falling in love with Arabic, and a headcanon of bi-racial/having Arab ancestry Voldemort has began to cristalize in my mind. I've had this thought after reading this one post about how Harry is changed in fics but Voldemort stays almost always the same when it comes to ethnicity/race.

I have plenty of different AU ideas about this pairing (many modelled more as an AU of the Historical Importance AU) and would like to realise them at some point, but I'd like for my first posted work to be an original idea.

The reason I'm creating this account now is because Tomarrymort stories are some of the best I've ever read. No matter how much time passes, I always come back to them. I am a slow-burn hoe (slow burns and long fics are like… 90% of my fanfic consumption), and I appreciate the vast variety of themes and motifs that these stories are capable of getting into.

On a final note, I'd like to make a disclosure.

Any opinions I have are simply that - opinions. I don't think that they are the best or the most accurate or that they should be imposed on other people. Everyone has a right to like whatever they want to like, and to think whatever they want to think, as long as that does not evolve into attacking actual human beings.

It's fiction. It's fun. I appreciate people with different opinions so long as we stay mature and respectful to each other about exchanging them.

Remembering Winnie: The extraordinary Winchester Peregrine

Following the sad news of Winnie’s passing following a scuffle with a newly arrived female last week (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hampshire-68478589) I wanted to look back on what Winnie meant to the city and her species and my personal journey with her.

Winnie and her partners Chester and then William have done amazing things for their species nesting both at Winchester Cathedral where they became global stars thanks to the nesting tray in the gully and the webcam and the old Police headquarters building before that. It’s so awe-inspiring to consider how many chicks the pairs produced and what a wonderful impact this has had on the numbers of this species which continues to bounce back strongly. In 2020 they raised an extraordinary five chicks. It is also incredible how they and particularly super mother Winnie also came to represent the species. From Chichester to York having Peregrine Falcons nesting on cathedrals and similar buildings in cities is very much a trend of modern Britain and I remember when I first began working in Winchester in 2016 (a year before Winnie and Chester’s relocation to the cathedral as their nesting ground) I was desperate to see my birth and new work city join the trend. From people I have met and spoken about them with behind the fence looking up at their inspiring north tower nest site at the cathedral to people on social media including those maybe not as interested in birds as myself it has been heartening to hear so much enthusiasm for these magnificent birds. It was a sad day learning of Winnie’s passing, but it was somewhat comforting that it was in the grip of the brutality of nature and completely within a natural process that she met her end rather than anything more sinister given the persecution of birds of prey that still is sadly so present in the country. And of course with the new female appearing to slot in with William seamlessly as I observed first hand at the cathedral on Thursday (having it seems, seen the two females together on nearby St. Thomas Church perhaps before/during the scuffles the Wednesday before) I’m so glad there are still Peregrines in Winchester.

I have so much to thank the Winchester Peregrines for personally. Before they started nesting at the cathedral from 2017 and successfully from 2018 I really liked Peregrines, you can’t really be into birds and not admire the fastest in the world and such a fantastic and beautiful species. It was a species I saw sporadically, I actually think I’d count myself lucky to see one once or twice a year. So it was quite something when from 2018 to early 2020 when I worked in Winchester every day, especially in the breeding season, I was able to see a Peregrine most days (or most weeks/at least once a month perhaps outside the breeding season). And I really became so familiar with them and so enamoured with them, they became one of my favourite birds thanks to the Winchester ones. When seeing them elsewhere at places I did more so before the Winchester ones, mostly coastal marsh locations that extra love I had for them was really clear. I came to reflect in recent years how Peregrines are really evocative of marsh locations where outside of Winchester I’m most used to seeing them and also my favourite area generally rugged coasts with cliffs and the thought of a Peregrine with their almost haunting call really conjures up a sense of the wild for me. So when seeing them at the cathedral and St. Thomas Church where they also spend a lot of time often a staging post for the chicks development in my working days I get an injection of the wild often much needed in a busy city working day which is so powerful. I really do never tire of the amazing opportunities to see and photograph the birds in Winchester and I often have to pinch myself and say “There’s a Peregrine Falcon up there!”

I think Winnie takes the greatest place in my heart among the Winchester Peregrines as following original partner Chester’s passing in 2021 a year later my full time working from home arrangements (bar the odd day here and there) morphed into the hybrid system with two days in Winchester in the office per week and the rest at home so I was back in the city on a regular basis. Winnie with her new partner William and the three chicks they produced between 2022 and 2023 spearheaded a new era for me. The thing that the Peregrines first drove me to do in 2019, bringing my second camera my bridge camera in my work bag on some office days as it fits in, became an even more regular thing. When factoring in some odd days I was required to come into the office each month and photographed them on my lunch break before the hybrid system began between November 2021 and January 2022 between Winchester Cathedral and St. Thomas Church I managed to photograph them in twenty four consecutive months that run finally came to an end when I didn’t manage a photo of one in November 2023 which felt so special. After photographing one in every month apart from March in 2019 before the pandemic hit in 2020 I wanted to photograph one in every month of the year one year, doing that in 2022 as part of that incredible run was worth waiting for. When considering my time watching Winnie I don’t know where the years have gone but it’s wholesome to think that I was seeing this same bird regularly for six or seven years (I only had fleeting glimpses of one flying during the 2017 breeding season earlier into my Winchester working days at my old job where I didn’t necessarily go to the cathedral as much and I don’t believe it was public knowledge that they were nesting at the cathedral so much and can’t recall which, though one was flying past the office window as it was nearer to the cathedral back then). That consistency of seeing one bird for so long is really valuable and a fairly rare thing I suppose. With my photography it has created such a special relationship with Peregrines too of being able to take so many photos of them and strive for and develop things. 31 Days of Horror - Day 7 - Tourist Trap

As a child, there is something so enticing about a tourist trap. Maybe it is the desire to remember, the need to have an item to associate with a day out of an abject fear that without it, the day will be no more. Maybe it is a way of making your day feel like it has more worth, of cementing the cliffside walk as an excellent use of your time. Or maybe, it is the novelty of seeing a shop, a mirage in the desolate rural abyss. 

Ultimately, I have no answer to why I have purchased so many keyrings that are never displayed, crystals I don’t know the names of and snow globes that my parents had to spend hours hoovering off the ground after they smashed late at night, but I do know that to this day, I am still enticed to enter a tourist trap.

Today’s film continues my trend of having the wheel pick films that correlate in pairs; my first pair was video nasties, my second originals of remakes I love, and this pair is DVDs I was gifted. Although, in the case of 1979s Tourist Trap, I no longer own this movie unfortunately, but alas, that is neither here nor there. 

Tourist Trap is a slasher before the boom in the 80s, where so many were oversaturated with tropes from Friday the 13th and Halloween - two excellent slashers that ultimately changed the genre forever. Saying as much feels incredibly redundant. In contrast to those films, the killer is bursting with personality, talking with an infectious accent and is supernatural to his core. Yet, he does bear some similarities to the later slashers, such as the mask and elements of mystery. Despite this, Tourist Trap feels wholly different from 80s slashers, heavily influenced by The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, which in of itself feels so different to the slashers to come, as well as those before it, that whether or not it should even be considered part of the subgenre is very debatable. 

Before moving too much further, I adore this film, it is both fun and frightening, and its 70s charm is a joy to watch.

 An early memory I have of horror is sitting at my great aunt and uncle's house, their house had a very distinct smell - not unpleasant - and their decoration felt distinctly old to my child brain. Whenever we were there, the tv would sit on for a little while, before someone would mute it or turn it off entirely. One time while it was left on, the volume low, I was drawn to watching it - I have very little memory of the film, except thinking it looked old and dumb. It played out as a woman was pushed down a grand flight of stairs, dramatic enough on its own, but what followed scared me. The perpetrator followed down the stairs, checking their victim was dead, only for her head to suddenly twist around. Instantly, they turned the tv off afterwards, and to this day I am left dreaming of finding the full film, but it made me feel a similar way that tourist trap does. Despite knowing that it wasn’t real - the practical effects were poor to say the least, I couldn’t stop thinking about it, and still to this day, I don’t stop thinking about it. No matter what, if someone is pushed down a flight of stairs, in my mind their head is twisting around afterwards. 

Maybe that tangent was unnecessary, but I wanted to illustrate the way I feel about this film, and that, despite its PG rating, I find this to be a deeply haunting experience. From the opening kill, which is maybe my favourite scene in the entire film, I find myself uneasy, watching as mannequins are brought to life, cackling while objects are flung across the screen at our first victim, the whole ordeal is dark, everytime I watch it I feel a weird fright come over me, one that makes me feel like a child again. None of this is real, and yet the uncanniness of it all frightens me much more than any regular murder could. 

Although I had seen a lot of this film before, I had never seen it in its entirety, which truly is a wonderful experience. I know that this is a movie that will stick with me, because the mere snippets I had seen before have always clung to me. Especially the opening kill - there is something so terrifying about mannequins in general, I think back to the first episode of the Doctor Who revival, which isn’t exactly terrifying, but looking at something that is designed to be so distinctly human, and yet is entirely not, is something to be feared. The uncanny valley comes to mind when discussing the mannequins in this film, especially a specific few whose faces are extremely altered, such as in the aforementioned opening kill, or the final fight sequence, they speak to a primal part of our brains, it warns us against the unknown, and yet, why? It looks like you, but it’s not, and maybe that is the scariest idea of all. 

Going back to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre comparisons, the cast of characters echoes them in many ways, from their dynamic to the fact they are lost in the middle of nowhere. I enjoy watching all of them, although none exactly stand out from the rest of the crowd, although I did find myself enjoying Becky the most, likely because of my familiarity with her actress Tanya Roberts. Their introduction is fun, and the way they are slowly peeled apart is somewhat tropey for sure, but I don’t mind it much. I believe these characters, as they decide to look for their friends, and refuse to break into houses, their naivety grows as the danger appears to teeter out. 

The villain is excellent, even though the mystery is somewhat weak. I desperately wanted to believe that Mr Slausen wasn’t the killer, despite knowing that he was. Maybe it comes from a desire to believe that there are good people dotted around the world, or maybe it is because of how hopeless the film's surroundings make you feel, but this villain is excellent in making you scared, at least in my opinion. His charade as a kind man is off putting and believable, meanwhile, his appearances as the masked murderer are distinctly memorable, his mask is chilling and encapsulates him excellently. I adore his telekinetic abilities, it makes him stand out so much, and all the more scary - he is a perfect blend of an average person, and a terrifying being we don’t understand. 

Going back to my mention of the setting, it works excellently, the Tourist Trap itself is perfectly spooky, what may be a fun attraction by day as people churn in and out of it, by night it becomes horrifying. The wax people are constantly hiding in the shadows, their faces melting into the darkness that every corner feels like someone is watching you. The house nearby echoed Psycho for me, in fact, this whole film does, where a man is living out his life buried in his work, a sinister secret hiding in the depths of his home rather than his business. Both facilitate one another, but the doll filled house encapsulates his broken mind. Beyond just that, it makes you deeply feel isolated, as if the summer heat is beating down onto you as you find yourself hopelessly lost, your time running out. 

Another piece of this film I adore is its score! From the opening titles that uses an instrument I don’t actually know the name of - very annoying I know - but encapsulates this film's tone and aesthetic perfectly! To the amazing sound design in general, especially during that opening kill, as we hear the victim's blood slowly trickle out of a pipe. All of it is perfect, and completely drowns me in its atmosphere. 

Before discussing my final thoughts, I want to mention how haunting I find the ending. Not only as our villain swings around a mannequin that comes to life, but as our final girl Molly drives away from the house with her friends in the car, all of them wax too. Her mental state is one to be questioned, and certainly echoes TTCSM once again.

Tourist Trap is a delight, a film that really takes me back to the feelings of being a terrified child. The childish evocations come both from the idea of tourist traps themselves, places that I haven’t been in a very long time, as well as feeling scared at the weirdness of old horror movies I would faintly watch between the cracks of conversation. Nostalgia aside, before I begin to feel too morose on existentialism, this film captivates me, it is fun and scary, especially for what it is. Definitely one I will dream about for a very long time.

Stylist Research

In order to being planning my refined trend shoots, I needed to do some stylist research to get some inspiration.

The first stylist I looked at was named Aldene Johnson. Aldene grew up in South Africa, but moved to London in her early twenties and became vice magazines first uk fashion editor. She is now a stylist and fashion consultant who has styled for Florence Welch from Florence & the Machine since 2009, amongst many others. She explains in a magazine article that her own style is “vintage with contemporary; classically feminine with a bit of androgyny.” I think this is a very similar concept to what I am going to attempt to convey, so analysing some of her work may help me achieve that.

What I noticed amongst her editorial work is her emphasis and attention to detail regarding how her muses pose with their hands. As you can see in these 3 images of Florence she is gently touching herself in different positions, which I think makes the whole ensemble look delicate and elegant. This combined with her eyes being either closed or only open slightly I think adds an element of tension and seriousness; creating a very atmospheric mood especially coupled with the eye contact in the middle image. Another consistent feature I noticed in this shoot is the warm editing, with it signalling something more friendly and inviting. Despite this being a huge contrast against the tension and seriousness created by the posing, I think they compliment each other well.

I think my favourite look of Johnsons is the one in the top left corner of the moodboard above. It keeps in line with the delicate elegance seen across the majority of her works, but combines it with darker garments that emulate exactly what I am striving for. This is demonstrating to me that this calm, collected, serious style of posing can be very effective when paired with gothic hints, and is something I could utilise.

The second stylist I researched was Izzy Lewin, who is a stylist for Dazed magazine and previously worked for Another Man magazine. Lewin herself has a distinct goth style, explaining on an interview with that “the fictional character i relate to most is Edward Scissorhands”, which lends a hand to her styling which mostly falls under the gothic umbrella and can be seen on her instagram account.

The thing that interests me and I like most about this styling is the way she combines a variety of different garments and even just pieces of material to construct her ensembles, and even though they are put together from such a mixed match bunch of things, the looks appear effortlessly put together. For example, the look on the left. The combination of the sheer lace material and the fishnet tights pulled up isn’t conventional, but it looks good aswell as offering something more exciting to look at; which can be marvelled against the contrasting light grey background. Most of her work which can be seen above follows this theme and evidently makes for some very visually appealing, meticulous looks, which is something I definitely plan on trying for my shoots.

The final stylist I looked into was called Kitty Cowell, who styles fashion campaigns and editorials for the likes of urban outfitters aswell as celebrities such as Sigala and Loyle carner.

What caught my eye about Cowells styling is her combination of authentic, gothic features like dark make up and horror inspired features such as horns made from hair using hairspray, with slicker backgrounds and poses, providing a rich contrast, as typical gothic imagrey often has busy backgrounds such as music venues or clubs. Despite some of her works carrying that same seriousness as Aldenes and Lewins, some of her looks take on a more playful aesthetic. For example, the magazine cover on the right hand side. The other stylists works feature a lack of props drawing attention to the protagonist, but here the guitars almost create a scene, a narrative, which I think without the props wouldn’t be present.

In conclusion, I think this stylist research has been very helpful in informing some photoshoot ideas, an initial one being layering different sheer and lace garments and fabrics on top of each other to create a more flamboyant look. I also didn’t realise the power props hold and how they can shape the message a photograph conveys, which is something I will definitely pay attention to.
