Me, at age ten, watching Ice Age 1, unware of Manny's tragic past involving the loss of his mate/son: Oh I like this mammoth he is grumpy but he's funny and somehow still endearing and majestic and big.

Me, at age thirty-one, knowing for years now Manny's backstory: Oh, Manny is on the VERGE of tears so often in IA1. He wears his grief/pain on his sleeve but it's conveyed so subtly it's missable for young viewers but once you grow up... tears lurk in his eyes in pretty much every scene (if you watch closely enough).

#sighhhh bcs on one hand i enjoy working in schools and its provides job security that i *need* and theres not enough lgbt ppl in schools rn #on the other hand i know my passion lies in community work and social health care. and working with lgbt kids. #but on the third hand. i wanna get a doctorate. which would bring absolutely nothing to either of these options #except for a lot of student debt and getting to add 'phd' to all my signatures #but i love research and gender studies and i think i could do it. i think i could bring smt to the field if i tried. #at the same time tho. i feel like im spending too much time thinking about my career and not enough time worrying about my social life #bcs at this point um. i think i will be lonely forever lol and whats the point of a phd if im gonna end up kms out of sorrow. #🏹

a couple of people on twitter have dmed me to ask me about my degree / master i'm gonna cry 😭😭😭

#and twitter wouldn't notify me so they're all old by now but whatever #no but you don't understand humanities are in dire state of help and it makes me emotional to find people wanting to study the same as me #especially since i constantly get smirks or like jokes about it from my family and friends telling me no one cares about them #and especially in my field!!!! and in my degree!!! like in my year only 11 of us graduated #11 #do you know how sad is that??? #they had to change a rule in my faculty cause to do an optative there needed to be a minimum of 15 students and that's more than we were #so we ended up with classes of 2 people #and like the attitude of some professors especially the oriental studies ones was so full of sorrow and sadness #as if they were already griefing the death of ancient studies #and i know i'm being melodramatic but humanities really need fucking help #we aren't even considered scientist ffs #anyways i'm happy that i get to help people in studying them 🥺
