Ever since I found out that Gina Holden was supposed to be casted as Claudia Stilinski in season 3B of Teen Wolf all I could think of was how much fun Coreen and Stiles would have being the researchers always on the fringe coming up with the bright ideas. Pretty much saving the day. They would be so much fun together.

Stiles would break into places and Coreen would be the getaway driver lol.

The Sheriff and Derek are always there dealing with the eventual mess.

But they would still do what they gotta do, even if it means a road trip.

Oh boy...

But no worries. Henry and Peter would be their protectors and partners in crime.

i’m so sorry it’s past midnight and it’s keplerposting time.

thinking about how intensely this man cares.

thinking about how he tries to construct this whole persona that weaponizes his charisma in service of the bigger picture. “the artist formerly known as warren kepler” has so much to say about how empty and meaningless his life is outside of what goddard asks of him, and like:

a) yeesh! go to therapy for your many issues. maybe you’ll get around to the self-image thing eventually

b) AND YET!!! he truly can’t help but fill his life with sentimentality. things that anchor him and keep him from fully losing his humanity to goddard.

we see it in the way he interacts with the si-5 and the whole running joke about his obsession with the whiskey. because he’s not an alcoholic and the whiskey speech is only like 50% a thinly veiled dick joke. the balvenie is front and center when he’s putting on his show, but it’s also there when we get to see the guy behind the curtain. and don’t get me started on the glimpses we get at the si-5’a dynamic it just makes me INSANE-

i don’t know where i’m going with this, but the reason this character sticks in my brain and refuses to leave is because on the surface he’s a lot of things—mostly a dick, but i digress—yet he manages to float around with his heart on his (perfectly-starched) sleeve and tries to distract you with three-legged pig stories and rants about authority. and it almost works!

so…that’s why so many people see the twist coming. like, YES this is an antagonist and he has never apologized for being a bad person or doing horrible things. he deserves everything that’s coming to him, but at the end of the day he’s also the guy with the stupid fucking laugh and the guy who plays roadtrip games at every opportunity and the guy who never got a chance to grieve the death and betrayal of his friends team.

at least he gets one last drink

okay thanks for bringing up that thing about laguz/beorc having kids and laguz losing their “laguzness” because I’ll be honest that was one of the few little details I had heard about regarding the tellius games before playing it recently and I thought “that…..sounds like a super shitty detail to put in a game that is supposed to be criticizing racism???” but I wasn’t seeing much people talk about it then so I always wondered if I was just overthinking it.

This is basically part of the greater plot, aka part of why Lehran/Sephiran became so depressed, to the point of wanting to reset the world and kill everyone living in it.

But we also have Almedha - who suffered from a similar ordeal, and while she's a NPC who keeps on antagonising everyone save for Pelleas, we later learn more about her and her reasons for behaving like she does (like mother like son?).

tbh I'm not surprised it's not talked about that often - because it runs contrary to what Tellius is often depicted as a story of a fight against "racism" and learning how to accept and live with others who are different from you.

Basically, anon, Tellius' story telling regarding the Branded is very wonky and, sadly or hopefully, cannot be resumed with "X BaD thus Y GoOd" - Laguz losing their powers when the procreate with Beorcs isn't an issue that can be solved with this universe's mechanics. It just exists, and there is nothing that can be done.

So yeah... Because of this, I don't think Tellius is supposed to be THE game criticising racism.

I am begging people on this site to understand that a piece of media having value on one axis does not negate that same piece of media having problems on another axis. A text being an extremely important piece of representation for one marginalized group does not negate criticism in regards to how it handles other marginalized groups, and you cannot and *should not* shit on people for criticizing a work’s failures in regards to x group just because it’s really good rep for y group. We can acknowledge a work’s importance in the history of representation of marginalized people without treating that work as a sacred idol never to be questioned, and indeed that work MUST be questioned if we are ever to continue improving upon said representation. “Everything has flaws” does not mean “We should settle for crap and never strive to improve upon past failings”.

#that being said. catasrophic failures on one axis can still taint value on an axis the work has done good on. #like if your show prides itself on big landmark queer rep #and then turns around and reveals that one of its biggest pieces of queer rep is a SLAVE pining after her SLAVE OWNER #that’s gonna sour a lot of people’s opinions on that part of the show! and you gotta learn to deal with that! #a work can be a feminist milestone for its time but on closer examination turn out to be bigoted horseshit #a work can be phenomenal when it comes to issues of racism for one group and horrifically vile when it comes to racism for other groups #obviously we shouldn’t throw the baby out with the bathwater here. but nor should we completely dismiss concerns about the thing #not every single complaint about something being problematic is a person crying wolf #and indeed treating all complaints as such will only let these issues fester and grow worse #media texts are not sacred idols to put on a pedestal and worship without question #and it is indeed dangerous to treat them as such. media is neutral. it can cause good or bad.
