Sept 2023 Wk 1

Ongoing Series - Thai

I Feel You Linger in the Air (Fri grey) ep 4 of 12 - Well that’s one way to find out if he’s gay, see how he reacts to reading a het sex scene out loud. Yai is flirting so hard it’s like he knows everything.

Dangerous Romance (Fri YT) ep 4 of 12 - Oh no! I love them. Also cohabitation trope! Also ALL the other ones: hair dry, meet in childhood... GMMTV going no frills with this one.

Hidden Agenda (Sun YT) ep 9 of 12 - Zo’s drama over Pat helping Joke flirt seems awfully manufactured. I’m losing faith in this show. Could GMMTV PLEASE hand JoongDunk a decent script?

Only Friends (Sat YT) ep 5 of 10 - Sand & Ray are the only interesting couple, and I’m pretty much only watching for them. They gonna go south fast, tho, and they're already ruined by persistent singing. Ooo. When Sand said Top "stole his ex" did he mean Boston? How gay.

Naughty Babe (Sat YT) ep 2 of 8 - The pronoun conversation had a bonkers translation but I enjoyed the actuality of it. The reasons for Yi's trickery are very convoluted soap opera. But I suppose that is the amnesia trope for you.

Be Mine Super Star (Mon Viki) ep 10 of 12 - Boys. We discussed this already. No sex in onsens! I found this one dull, until the end when LLS showed up. Happy to just have him in everything. Thank you Thailand. Looks like it is a classic ep 11 DOOM next week. Who cares?

Venus in the Sky (Tues iQIYI) 1-2 of 10 eps - The usual Thai pulp claptrap this time a reunion romances in and around a convenience store between a boy who recently quit his job and his former bestie who is now a doctor. Mostly not great acting, plot, or production but the sound is okay and no bad effects or singing (so far), so that’s something. The gay brothers have a fun relationship. It’s vampy and campy but fun. I like it but not sure anyone else would.

Love in Translation (Sat iQIYI) ep 4 of 10 - The date was cute but I still don’t like the lead or the premise (we moved into Cyrano de Bergerac territory). It’s moving slowly but it seems like we might be over the crush/stalker part of the narrative, so that’s a relief.

Crazy Handsome Rich (Sun Gaga) ep 2 of 10 - I just can’t. The sound is too weird. With punch down humor and other issues incoming I may DNF this. You’ve been warned. This ep we got to see LLS with his shirt off. Did anything else happen?

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Jun & Jun (Korea Thur Viki) ep 8fin - No wonder he is everyone’s favorite hyung, boy can read the room like no one else. I love that we got to see exactly how clingy and demanding Choi Jun was always going to be. Only Lee Jun is easy-going enough to put up with him. Also I’ve never watched a KBL with more innuendo. For Korea this was… raunchy. I gotta say had Laws of Attraction not come along, Simon might have been my favorite character of 2023.

Final thoughts on Jun and Jun:

A delightful office romance about an ex-idol who joins cubical life only to find his new boss is his first love. Others boys are sniffing around too. Operative word being "sniffing" as much of this romance involves smell. With a snappy script, enjoyable sides, a pretty as peaches cast, and descent chemistry this show made up for in style what it lacked in substance. I like fluff. I loved this. I smiled every moment I was watching. With tons of rewatch potential (especially the last few eps), my only caution is this is for fans of the BL genre only, I don’t think it’ll work for anyone else. A solid 9/10 from me. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

I like that Korea is trying high heat, but Taiwan and Thailand are leaps and bounds better at it.

Love Class Season 2 (Korea Fri Viki) eps 9-10fin -

Omg they so cute as flirty bf. Eeeeeeee! CAMEO!!!!! My fav guest couple ever! So exciting!!!! I love that they intersected with MY Strongberry couple (Private Lessons). I’m not used to this but Holy innuendo Korea, what with Jun & Jun and now this show? It’s a bit much for my gay little heart. The final episode was entirely unnecessary, but it was fun to see them being all domestic and stuff. Maru with his dumb lettuce leaves was hilarious. I feel like I need to rewatch this one to really understand it properly, so I will likely do that soon.

Summary of Love Class 2:

3 couples form within a semester of university: 1. a hyung romance reunion of exes, one of whom has a dangerous past, 2. a friends to lovers romance, and 3. a mature student and TA one night stand + complexities (many aspects of which had me laughing). I enjoyed the characters and dialogue of this show immensely. It was a little bit more breezy and friendly than I was expecting after the first installment, Love Class. I’m not entirely sure Korea can handle multiple couples like this because it definitely felt disjointed, especially the 3rd more mature couple (also my favorite) who probably should’ve had their own series. But it was definitely fun and something different from Korea. 8/10 RECOMMENDED

Also, Korea tried to give us higher heat... that was... interesting. I mean, you tried hon...?

Kisseki: Dear to Me (Taiwan Tues Viki & iQIYI) ep 4 of 13(?) - Everyone is a sad sack this ep. Ooooo. Teach/student my favorite. We never get this one. It’s messy. I’m not sure if there is a plot. I’m not sure they’re sure if there is a plot. But I am still enjoying it.

Why R U? (Korea Wed iQIYI) eps 5-6 of 8 - Why is the Fighter character always so frustrating regardless of name or country? Ji Oh stalking his crush via IG is so relatable. He’s very first crush awkward, unsure, and sweet. They also gave a nice kiss - I love the backpack drop (kiss version of a mic drop?) I still hold that if you haven’t seen the original this might not make much sense. But I am enjoying it.

My Personal Weatherman AKA Taikan Yoho (Japan Sat Gaga) ep 4 of 8 - Oh goody, another JBL where we have to pay attention solely to what they do and not what they say.

Minato's Laundromat Season 2 AKA Minato Shouji Coin Laundry Season 2 (Japan Thu Gaga) ep 9 of 12 - Big fat sigh.

It's Airing But...

My Universe (Sun iQIYI) ep 3 of 24 eps - I couldn't get hold of it and I'm not mad. I'm putting it on hold until distribution gets sorted, or icky get their shizz in order (like that'll happen).

9/15 Bump Up Business AKA Bump Up Project (Korea movie) suspected cinema release? I don't know much about what's going on. Last status update. Love story between a trainee who is about to debut and a celebrity from the same agency. Kpop boy group OnlyOneOf has signed up to star in this idol-based BL (based on a webtoon). They’ve been auditioning for this since Libido IMHO. You can watch me chronicle their BL MV series in this post. It’s from Idol Romance who will do sad but can do good kisses (Wish You, Nobleman Ryu, Once Again, Kissable Lips, Poongduck 304, Tasty Florida, Tinted With You).

9/26 I Cannot Reach You AKA I Can't Reach You AKA Kimi ni wa Todokanai (Japan ????) - Adapted from the manga, childhood best friends: The cool, smart one who’s good at everything, and his average, dorky friend who struggles. Always by the other’s side, but not together in the way they truly want to be. No matter how hard they try, their hearts cannot reach each other.

9/27 Absolute Zero (Thai iQIYI) - from 2021, Studio Wabi Sabi and New Siwaj finally bring us this “time loop to prevent tragedy” romance. We don’t always get HEAs from them, so I'm on my guard.

9/27 Bon Appetit (Korea iQIYI) - from 2022, 8 eps from GoGo Studio, romance between an office worker who lives off junk food and the man next door who cooks well.

why pjo's portrayal of the greek gods is fucked up and how it's affected perceptions surrounding ancient Greece.

start talking now oh my god I want to hear your hot take so bad. I've been interested in religious studies (primarily the Hellenistic and early Roman religious atmosphere (of course acknowledging that the word religion is post-Enlightenment and conceives of supernatural belief as a subjective individual belief, which is inconsistent with how supernatural matters were dealt with in the Ancient world) and how they intersect with early Christianity and proto-Christianity) and I've been fascinated with the Greek gods and I need your hot take on why their portrayal is wrong and leads to incorrect assumptions about Ancient Greece.

oh you bet your bottom dollar i will talk about this. true to the post from which this originated, i will prep no material and all this is off the top of my head so don't quote me!

If you follow my Greek mythology sideblog, you'll know i am unequivocally a Zeus defender. Now I can make a million posts about Zeus alone but I will take a more holistic approach on the gods in general and the perception of Ancient Greece.

The West has been obsessed with Ancient Greece for centuries: the culture, philosophy, history, mythology, mathematical and scientific advancements, and much more. Now it's one thing to take interest in a country's history or a historical era; it is completely another to claim it as your own and make it an ideal state of life to achieve, because if you know literally anything about Ancient Greece, it was anything but. What I'm trying to say here is that Ancient Greek culture has been commodified, glorified, rewritten, and reclaimed by the West when it was never theirs to do so. I've often seen this sentiment expressed by Greeks about their homeland: "The history comes first, the people second." I think a prime modern example of this mindset was when same-sex marriage was legalised in Greece, which was a huge step forward for an Orthodox country with an extensive history of homophobia, but people outside of Greece began making jokes of Greece "returning to their own values" (referring to Ancient Greek practices of pederasty which is hugely problematic and not at all representative of any gay rights if you know what it entails) and people excited to "finally hold lesbian weddings in Lesbos" (signifying the West's perception of Greece as simply a tourist hotspot and not a country with an intricate history and culture). In short, Greece is already unfairly used for the West's agenda of glorification and attempts to build itself a culture that frankly isn't theirs at all.

Now, how does this involve pjo? A lot, my friends, a fucking lot. The publication and popularity of the Percy Jackson series has simply exacerbated all the aforementioned issues in this post. First off, the worldbuilding on which The Lightning Thief relied and the rest of the series ultimately holds is that "Olympus moves with the centre of Western power", which is just. Wow. There are a million things wrong with this concept that would need its own post, so I recommend this article called The Whitening Thief that essentially explains the white supremacy of it all. If you do not want to read the full article, the main premise is that the Percy Jackson series equates Westernism with civilisation and that without it there was "chaos and darkness", which as Paule describes it, is "sipping at a pretty racist cocktail".

note: I have realised how aggressively off-topic this is to the original statement I made, I'm getting there, I promise (although I did warn you it was something I could talk on for hours with little material)

Let's finally delve into the depiction of Greek gods in Percy Jackson. I'll actually start on a bit of a positive note that apart from the weird (for lack of a better term) comparisons of Hades to Adolf Hitler, the original Percy Jackson and the Olympians had some okay characterisation of the gods (I have some reservations about the goddesses on which I will elaborate later). They're prideful and neglectful parents (the myths actually contradict that latter part but I digress) but each with their own complexities and concerns. To use Zeus as an example because he's actually the god who falls short the most in terms of consistent characterisation in my opinion, he lets Percy live in TLT "for the sake of peace in [his] family", indicating a care and sense of duty for Olympus and for his fellow gods, and while he lets his pride and paranoia get the better of him at times, he is shown as a serious authority figure and someone who's trying to keep his realm together, and such characteristics wouldn't be too far off from his mythical counterpart.

But as the series progresses, either Rick got lazy or he attempted to further capitalise his work to make it more palpable, he turns the gods into caricatures by excessively inflating one characteristic they may have into their entire personalities. Returning to Zeus, his paranoia is amplified to an absurd extent that one can simply not fathom why the gods would be the better option than the Titans. As I said initially, he had bouts of paranoia that would be almost normal for someone with such a powerful position, but this is completely derailing any connection with his mythological counterpart, he may as well be an OC with the same name and title as him. To use other gods as an example because I promised a holistic approach and I have seemed to only talk about Zeus (sorry!), the writing of the goddesses Hera, Artemis, Aphrodite, and Athena is simply misogynistic. I'm sorry, there is no other way I can find myself to describe it. Typically feminine goddesses Hera and Aphrodite are extremely demonised and condemned for their flaky and vain attitude; Hera is the evil stepmother archetype and Aphrodite ultimately becomes weak and useless. The "virgin" (quotations referring to Athena) goddesses Artemis and Athena also don't seem to extend past superficial, unoriginal characteristics like being a vehement man-hater who kicked out two sapphics from the Hunt and a goddess who Rick stops at nothing to render her a horrible parent and person (using the Roman myth of Medusa, exaggerating her prideful nature, etc) respectively. And you cannot tell me they're not misogynistic portrayals because just a few minutes on pjo tiktok will show you just how many times Hera is referred to as a bitch (keep my wife's name out of your fucking mouth!!). Then there is TOA and COTG, which makes me want to cry just thinking about Zeus' portrayal there (yes we're going back there). The god who was consistently thought of as a gracious, protective saviour of the people in Ancient Greece (full list of epithets of Zeus, read at your leisure) is an abusive autocratic tyrant?

To go back onto the topic, how do Riordan's works affect the overall perception of Ancient Greece? Well, as I said before, it contributes to the white supremacist view of Ancient Greece as the epitome of civilisation and the glorification of the era, but it also turns Ancient Greece into a fandom to an extreme extent. Now, obviously, I'm not talking about people with a healthy obsession with Ancient Greek history and Mythology (myself included) who like to engage in content about it. I'm talking about people who claim Ancient Greece as an extension of Western, mostly American culture, and ultimately engage in a form of cultural appropriation that strips Greeks of their own history and narrative. This includes writing 'feminist' retellings of Greek myths, taking Riordan's (inaccurate) readings of the mythology as indisputable fact, and removing the myths from their historical and cultural context. People forget that much of these myths were stories written for entertainment and take them as a sort of Hellenic Bible (which delves into the Christianisation of Greek Mythology but that's a whole other post). In short, Westerners think they can do whatever the fuck they want with Greek mythology and Greek gods because they think it's theirs with which to play around, ultimately ignoring the country, history, and the culture from which they actually originate, and it's thanks to Rick Riordan that this attitude has blown up to an insane extent.

Having honestly the wildest experience flipping back and forth between binging Empresses in the Palace and That Omegaverse Thai BL. Yes, here to report that I have watched 4 episodes of Pit Babe on iQIYI, despite the name itself subjecting me to second-hand embarrassment, and it has officially vaulted over the hurdle of, "Is it good? Is it bad? Does that matter?" in the vein of Love in the Air.

It's.... exactly what it intends to be: that omegaverse AU boyband fic you read on AO3 at 2am when you couldn't sleep. I have never watched a more fanfic-y fanfic projected on screen. An incredible achievement.

Part of me feels strangely exposed and I have to push past my discomfort of thinking about a wider audience getting access to material that I generally consider to be our private fandom matters. But if I repress the knowledge that non-fandom people can see this, it's a dumb tropey good time. I hear there's canon mpreg, which makes sense cause I am pretty sure not a single woman has been on screen in four episodes. Do they canonically exist? Everyone is Gay™ and every named character is dude. I'm honestly racking my brains to recall if anyone mentioned a mom or if a female employee was in the background at some point and I missed it due to covering my eyes from mortification lmaooooooo.

The Babe character is that cliche hot/skilled/rich asshole fictional archetype who condescends to the people he sleeps with, treats them as disposible objects who can be traded to other assholes. (Until this alpha runs into his perfect match, per omegaverse rules!) But innocent flower love interest is apparently Not What He Seems and has his own agenda, as per fanfic 101. We all know how this goes. Supporting characters frequently marvel at how how Love Interest is so special™. Oh what a shock, this scum man alpha never allowed a fuck buddy to do X, Y, Z before. 😮

Naturally, our toxic boyfriend material has a Tragic Backstory that makes him Secretly Vulnerable and everyone wants something from his hot, skilled, rich self. 😢

no but truly, the desperate clinging of love interest Charlie who is thankful for the bare minimum scraps from Babe would be intolerable if we didn't know he has A SECRET SPY MISSION. or something. idk what his deal is yet. Anyway, it's not gross to see Charlie acting out pathetic thankfulness to be included in outings & allowed suck to his dick when Ulterior Motives Are Afoot.

The Sign is out there trying to be good but Pit Babe is so galaxy brain beyond such matters. I was charmed by how much Love in the Air reminded me of Cinemax After Dark and the Red Shoe Diaries of my 90s youth, soft core romance novel stylings surrounded by melodramatic plot (mysteries & fast cars & locker rooms & bar scenes) and Pit Babe charms me in the same late-night tv nostalgic way. The music that kicks up whenever there is a romance moment totally has that early 2000's softcore background track sound. My brain whispers, 'lol that's porn music'.

Characters yelp out Pit Babe at the rate of Sifeng!!!!!!! so I have built an immunity that will serve me well if I venture forward. 💪

Last night I got off the most disheartening phone call with a friend I've known since we were pre-teens and my ex-husband on three way. The friend is who introduced me to my ex-husband. We chatted it up for a good while.

Then somehow the subject of gay and trans people came up. I thought I knew where my ex-husband stood because we used to talk about it when our kids were little. I thought he supported LGTBQIA+. The friend was getting sentimental, and my ex called him gay. Which was weird since my ex is very much in touch with his softer side and can be very expressive and passionate about his feelings. So, although I know it was a joke, I didn't think it was funny. The friend said [[his name redacted]] is not gay! I may be a lot of things but I ain't no [[explicit]]. I said, "even if you were gay, we would still have mad love for you." He again reiterates. "I ain't no muh fukkin' [[redacted]]" My ex says, "Bruh, chill out with all that. Gay people are cool." Then says, "I have gay family members and if my kids came out gay, I'd still love them anyway." Friend says "Nah nigga fuck that shit. I'd rather my son be dead then gay." My heart broke!! Then he proceeds to give a weak ass strawman argument as to they (whoever "they" is...) are trying to shove this agenda down our throats. I felt like I was teleported into a podcast full of hoteps and incels. I said, "I am pro LGBTQIA+ so I'm going to need you to shut the fuck up." Here is where it really took a turn for the worst. My ex-husband who I love dearly as a friend and co-parent partner says, "But I can't get with them trans muh fukkas. I gotta draw the line there." My heart was beating so fast at this point. I started pacing the floor. I mean I gave them the whole speech about using talking points of white supremist. Then old friend says, "Yo, Ant aren't you a Christian? How can you be for these people?" I gave him historical teaching points on how the same stuff they say about them they said about black people. I mean I went in. As a theologian and ordain minister I pulled out doctrine in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek text. At one point they both said something about sounding like I went to college and like a black activist etc. COMPLETLY MISSING ALL THE FUCKING POINTS!!! I'm so disappointed in my ex-husband. However, the old friend I can go another decade without hearing from him again.

I talk to my ex at least twice a week. Sometimes with his current wife on the phone as well. We love them damn kids but we're also like I said, "good friends". We vacation together and everything, but now I don't know how to move forward knowing he's transphobic. Is this how white ally's feel when they have family members who are racist? He has called a few times and I ignored because I'm still upset. The kids say, "dad has been trying to reach you, why haven't you called him back?"

I'm sharing this because I don't know who else to have this kind of discussion with. I'm probably the most if not only progressive in my family. Everyone else is mostly indifferent because they have no skin in the fight and then there are the boomers so...🙄

So. You know that really annoying thing were (typically older) classicists take characters and figures in antiquity (e.g. Achilles, Patroclus, Sappho, Catullus, etc.) who are seen by a lot of modern audiences to have ambiguous (or unambiguious) queer aspects to them and the older classicists are like "um, actually, the Greeks and Romans didn't even have the word gay, they had really deep concepts of same-gender friendships and also poets were expected to write about a female subject so, no, the Greeks *weren't* having a fruity fruity time back then". Like, yes, all of those things you said are true, but they also don't mean that even thought there wasn't a word that is exactly equivalent to the modern identity of homosexual that there weren't any people at all who loved people of the same gender, and yes poets were expected to write to about a female subject, but that doesn't mean that a woman who wrote poetry absolutely could not also be attracted to women, and yes the Greeks had really deep friendships, often between persons of the same gender identity, it was even one of their eight words for a type of love (φιλία - friendship or brotherly love) BUT ALSO just because not all people who did any of these things were queer, does not mean that absolutely none of them were queer.

What does this have to do with my life's passion, you say? I'm glad you asked! As some of you may know, I am a gay gay homosexual and a transgender genderless boyish femboy catboy dogboy thing meow uwu (he/they). I ALSO really like ancient Greece (and Rome, I guess, if you're a POSER /j) and I recently switched my major back from Art History to Greek Latin and Ancient Mediterranean Studies with a focus of History and Archaeology of the Ancient Mediterranean (which is what I was majoring in when I started college but made the mistake of taking both introductory Latin and introductory Greek at the same time which I do not recommend for anyone who likes having free time or good mental health and fled into the arms of the Art History department for like a semester-ish). I have decided that I am going to spend my life arguing with slightly homophobic classicists that maybe Achilles and Patroclus *were* having a very fruity time back then. I don't know, I wasn't there, were you??? Will this bring me riches? Absolutely not. Will this give me a clear career path? Academia? Maybe? I don't know! But will I get to spread the gay agenda for the rest of my days while also pissing off classicists and other supposed classical enthusiasts for being really weirdly attached to the fact that Sappho is NOT a lesbian? Yes. Yes I will.

Are you a radfem? You've reblogged from radfems before and share a lot of detrans stuff, I like your blog but I don't feel really welcome and safe with stuff like that

Hi! We're two people running this blog, and no, this is not a radfem blog, this is a wlw/female positivity blog, run by two people who fall under these two categories ourselves.

Detransitioning also isn't automatically a political statement, please do not label it as such; when we started this blog, I was still living as a transgender man whose history and present still heavily tied me to the wlw community. However, HRT was making me very sick and not actually masculinising my body, and ultimately it was both better for my physical and mental health to first go off HRT, and when living as a man didn't get any easier through that, detransition. Most detransitioned people aren't detransitioning because of an agenda, and furthermore, while plenty remain allied to the LGBT community, most are still part of it - myself, as a bisexual gender non-conforming person who has no intentions of ever entering a heterosexual relationship, for example, and a person who does not feel that I am any more cisgender now than I have ever been. Others detransition from a binary gender identity to a nonbinary one, ceasing transition but remaining somewhere inbetween socially and where they feel themselves to align internally. Many of us, like myself, still regard ourselves under the wider transgender community: for myself, because I am not and have not and will not be cisgender, even if I am socially presenting as my assigned sex. People who know me more know that my experience with gender goes much beyond simplistic labels and assigning any beyond the factual "detrans female/woman" to what all of the above means is very difficult, but it's a private matter to me, like most things concerning deeply personal aspects of my life.

As per the blogs we reblog from - to be completely honest, we don't vet them, and have no intention of doing so in the future, as upsetting as this might be to hear for people who may feel unsafe coming across posts from users they're uncomfortable with. Most of our posts come from the tags and as long as they're not inflammatory and upsetting in themselves, we have no reason to be skulking through the sources or cultivating a blocklist of blogs we overall don't agree with. So there's going to be all kinds of ideologies, bad takes, drama, horrible people behind the urls. I quite honestly wouldn't know if I reblogged a tradfem post from a deep-end Catholic, anti-gay user/source (such as a quote) if the post itself somehow innocently floated into the wlw tag and was talking about cottagecore romance or some equally benign subject. The reason for this is simply that vetting each and every blog we scroll past would make running this blog extremely draining and require such specific hard rules to be established between the two of us posting here about what is a "good" blog to be reblogging from and what is a "bad" blog - there isn't one blog out there that we both 100% agree with, or find non-controversial, and we quite simply do not have the required energy to be putting into something like that.

You, however, as someone who scrolls through our blog, are more than welcome to block and blacklist urls and blogs that you see reblogged here. You control your exposure, you control whose thoughts you feel comfortable engaging with. This is absolutely, 100% fine to be doing. You never need to agree with anything we post, or with any user or post that we reblog here. We're posting here mostly for ourselves, what we relate to, in the hopes that someone out there relates to it as well. That's... really about as deep as it goes.

In order to help curate your experience, beyond Tumblr's own blacklist and block functions, for desktop users I highly recommend installing New XKit (Chrome/Firefox) and/or Tumblr Savior (Chrome/Firefox), which will make it much more reliable to vanish users and posts from your curated feed.

My Thoughts On: Lightyear

Ok, I've been hearing a lot of things recently about this movie, and even from my own parents, who aren't sure if they want to let my little siblings go see it. It was even banned in 14 countries, but why?

There's a lesbian.

That's right, there's a canonically lesbian character in a stable, loving, long-term relationship in a Disney movie. Surprised? Maybe you weren't, but I sure was. That is, of course, why my conservative parents aren't sure if they want to take my younger siblings to go see it. They very strongly disagree with queer representation in general, and they think that "Disney is trying to expose as many young kids as possible to LGBTQ+ lifestyles, and they're really pushing that agenda". Additionally, they're quite displeased that Tim Allen is not returning to voice the character of Buzz Lightyear, saying that "Disney has kicked him to the curb for his conservative political views".

Now, if you've done any reading on this subject, you'd know everything that I've just written is wrong. Recently, there's been a large portion of Disney staff speaking out against the company that claims to be queer-friendly, but still censors most of their content, and has also recently taken a lackluster stance over Florida's "don't say gay" bill. Pixar creatives have said that they've seen many beautifully diverse stories sent to Disney review boards and come back almost entirely stripped of the representation. One of these things was a lesbian kiss in Lightyear, which was removed for unknown reasons. After this speaking-out by queer employees, the kiss scene was actually added back into the movie, showing not only that the employees voices have been heard and are making a difference, but also validates their claims of censorship on Pixar films. This scene's return has sparked international backlash, banning the movie in 14 countries, and earning some hate from conservative parents like my own. While Disney is making progress in their representation, the fact it became a talking-point at all is just sad. Disney tried so hard to subtly censor things like this, and the employees have finally decided to speak up about it and come against it. It makes me so happy to see our community stand up like this. Disney is not as queer-friendly as they'd like to seem, but they're making progress, and progress is the first step.

On the subject of Tim Allen, he was NOT "kicked to the curb" for his conservative views. Disney hasn't been cutting him off. In fact, he just signed on to produce a Disney+ exclusive show based off of his The Santa Clause movies he did with Disney. I don't know about you, but signing on to do a new show worth millions of dollars doesn't exactly seem like getting "cut off". The creative minds behind Lightyear have already commented on this, explaining why Allen wasn't asked to voice Buzz Lightyear. They said that in the initial stages, there was confusion between Buzz Lightyear the toy, and Buzz Lightyear the Space Ranger, so they decided to make the two characters as separate and distinguishable as possible. While Tim Allen perfectly captured Buzz Lightyear the toy as a goofy, fun guy who serves as a sort of comic relief, they wanted Lightyear, the action movie that inspired the toy, to have a more serious tone, so as to not undercut the drama. To do this, they asked Chris Evans to voice Buzz Lightyear the Space Ranger, and his voice is perfect for the role they wrote. Tim Allen himself has not commented on this yet, but there's enough information here to make it obvious this choice was creative and not political.

Ultimately, there's an underlying factor of hate and bigotry here. When conservative parents condemn Disney/Pixar for trying to "normalize LGBTQ+ lifestyles", they do two things. One, they marginalize queer people as a "lifestyle", like being vegan or having a regular exercise regiment. Being queer is not a choice, is a part of who we are, and how we were made. It's not a lifestyle, it's a fact of life. We are here, and we won't go out of fashion like some people want us to. Two, they confuse "normalize" with "accept". Maybe this is just me, but there's a huge leap from seeing something all the time, and accepting that thing and being okay with it. We see crime all the time, it's a normal thing to hear about, but we don't accept it as alright in our society. If these people aren't going to "accept" us, that's on them. However, the first step to providing more safe spaces for queer individuals is making it a common thing to see queer people. Decades ago, the same thing had to be done with African-Americans as segregation was ending. Lots of conservatives (and conservatives who claimed to be "Christians" despite their clear contradiction of Christian values) acted out socially and physically against African-Americans and their integration into society. Everyone had to adjust to seeing them out and about in places that were previously reserved for white people. Even though not everyone accepted them (and some still don't today), they normalized the African-American in everyday life. I don't think there's many outspoken Christians (or "Christians") who would say that racism is okay, but they did back then. The first step to correcting bigoted beliefs was normalizing the people being hated. Once you can see the person as a human being, and not just an object of your hate, it changes your view. It changed mine. It's changed the view of countless Christians who fought against racism, and now fight against homophobia and transphobia. Love is beautiful, and as Christians we are called to love. Where do people get off spreading hate? Step one to revising that view is normalizing.

End of Aug Start Sept 2023

Ongoing Series - Thai

Laws of Attraction (Sat iQIYI) 8fin - Oh the DRAMA. Why does the insane ex (my true love) remind me of the cartel leader from Romancing the Stone? Even the sides got HEA! It was fucking great!!!!! Charn remains a bonkers spoiled evil murderous brat with a cruel smile beloved by his one true paladin. Also: post it love note trope! Been a long while my old friend. NO SINGING!!!!! I do love that wedding jacket frock coat cape thing Charn wore.

In conclusion: This is a great gay suspense thriller with several solid couples, fun plot, killer characters, queer rep, and a happy ending. Charn may be my favorite lead character of 2023. However, this show is not entirely BL, more on the fringe, like Manner of Death. Add that to several "singing incidents" and pairs being a little weak in the chemistry arena, and this lands safely in 9/10 territory. It’s tons of fun tho: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I Feel You Linger in the Air (Sat grey) ep 3 of 12 - This show is getting more and more lakorn each ep. Apparently the straights are having a class divide arranged marriage crisis. Who cares? Our boy is ALWAYS in trouble. Crazy that he has to save the people who betrayed him in a previous life - but I guess he chose revenge! That's unexpected.

Had to switch to grey and couldn’t find a working rip. It was frustrating and I wouldn’t have bothered except I like this show so much. Still, it means no screen caps because the rez is naff.

Dangerous Romance (Fri YT) ep 3 of 12 - Uh oh. Kang wants to save Sailom and be his hero. The fact that K’s Pa puts no pressure on him whatsoever, makes me wonder if K's Ma committed suicide or something? It’s definitely the opposite parental dynamic we normally see in BL. I have to say, the pacing is great in the show. And the acting is on point. It’s really great.

Hidden Agenda (Sun YT) ep 8 of 12 - these two just kiss well. I mean not "rip your clothes off Taiwan-style," but sweet young boyfriends-esk. Joke wants to be claimed so bad. It’s great. I enjoyed this ep, unfortunately it looks like we have a manufactured angst drama drop in the next episode. Is this a 10 episode arc? I thought it was 12. It’s odd to have doom happening next episode already.

Only Friends (Sat YT) ep 4 of 10 - Back story time! Ray and Mew are HARD to watch. Incestuous friend group gay is the worst. Omg I got such QAF vibes from this ep. Nick Boston Sand chats = very throw back 90s gay soaps.

Location game moment: Top's hotel room is also Chan’s apartment in Laws Of Attraction.

Naughty Babe (Sat YT) ep 1 of 8 - Ooo. Est is back! Hi handsome. Head of security suits you. Please lead out the new Waterboyy remake? You’re perfect for the role. (If it must happen.) Yi’s Pa is GREAT. Please give daddy a nice boy? Could that be our secondary couple for this series?

Meanwhile, with the leads (sorry I was distracted by daddy) we got us an arranged marriage, run away bride, and an amnesia trope. Put in a secret baby and it's squarely 1980's Harlequin. Will there be Vikings? Sex herbs? Pirates? Dub con?

Be Mine Super Star (Mon Viki) ep 9 of 12 - Again with lovely sex scenes, it’s just the plot stringing them together is frayed. Also don’t fuck in an onsen. Both yech and ouch.

Wedding Plan (Wed YT & iQIYI) ep 7fin - Trash watch here! Honestly this was an okay ending, I’m not mad at it. If you can tolerate Mame and liars (kinda the same thing) you’ll be fine with this show.

Summation: An innocent wedding planner falls haplessly and hopelessly in love with a groom who relentlessly pursued him, even though he’s about to marry someone else. A somewhat lackluster mame offering with less of the usual stellar chemistry, but all of the usual lies and manipulation. 7/10

Love in Translation (Sat iQIYI) ep 3 of 10 - I skip everything to do with Tammy and it’s fine. There’s only about 20 minutes of fine but that’s more than enough. On the bright side. So far. No singing.

My Universe (Sun iQIYI) ep 2 of 24 eps - Cassanova Begins Part 2. Aw. It was sad. Another variation on the “my ghost boyfriend” trope (usually sad). 2/10 I don't do sad BL.

Next up is Merry Go Round featuring the pair from Destiny Seeker (we likey) who want to marry each other, but end up fake engaged to the same woman. Beard squared? Looks silly.

Crazy Handsome Rich (Sun Gaga) ep 1 of 10 - There are 2 things I like about this. I bet you can guess what they are.

There wasn’t enough of either in this first ep. ALSO the captions, sound effects, and voice over are truly next level bad. Utterly atrocious.

The 2 leads fucking around in the end credits was the funniest part of the whole show.

Ongoing Series - Not Thai

Jun & Jun (Korea Thur Viki) ep 7 of 8 - I am confused and frustrated about what the communication delay is between the two Juns. It feels artificial and narratively manufactured. But since this is a short form KBL and I know it will be resolved quickly, I’m not as annoyed as I would be if this were Thai BL. Still it feels audience manipulative. I also feel sorry for Simon. BUT it looks like it’ll be a sweet boyfriends final episode.

Stay By My Side (Taiwan Fri Gaga) ep 10fin - Omg they’re so cute!!! Taiwan the purveyors of ultimate sappy gay domesticity. I am going to miss having these to nonsencing all over my dash.

This show was an interesting take on the "ghost boyfriend" trope. About a boy who is tormented by hearing the dead, except when he is around one other boy - desperation+proximity = love. Unfortunately, the story was erratic and waffled about. While the leads turned in solid performances and the sappy domesticity was off the charts, it never really had the strength of the narrative convictions such a strong concept should have supplied. Highly rewatchable and enjoyable for that sappy domesticity but not a whole lot more. Still I always give extra credit for the diabetes-inducing sugar content and rewatch capacity. 8/10

Kisseki: Dear to Me (Taiwan Tues Viki & iQIYI) eps 3 of 13(?) - I love the punching thing - there is a lot of violent flirting in this show. I’m not mad about it. Ugh, poor thing has real abandonment issues. And now trust issues. I see why we’re getting 12-14 eps. This gonna be MESSY.

Meanwhile, does EVERYONE have a guest cameo? Not that I’m complaining. Hi BLIHID boys! Now I need to rewatch that show.

Love Class Season 2 (Korea Fri Viki) eps 7-8 of 10 - Oh my God the next morning w/ couple 2 was so darn cute. They are all such terrible flirts with each other. Honestly, this show makes me laugh more than any other BL currently airing. I’m not sure it is meant to be as funny as I find it. While couple 3 (the mature characters) is by far my favorite, I actually think they don’t work with the other two pairs, they feel superfluous to the show. I like the show better because they’re in it, but it feels like two different BL‘s stuck together. KBL certainly can’t handle more than two couple threads at the same time.

Why R U? (Korea Wed iQIYI) eps 3-4 of 8 - Ugh. I am such a sucker for the FighterTutor dynamic. Why so good? Uh oh. Real kiss! KBL you're spoiling us. But, isn’t sad-seme-hyung dating some chick? Argh. Poor Sunwoo. This show is even worse at repping Fighter's character sympathetically. Who knew that was possible?

My Personal Weatherman AKA Taikan Yoho (Japan Sat Gaga) ep 3 of 8 - The date episode! Even Japan is doing it now. And these two who have been living/fucking together for ages still dance around each other like junior high kids. I gotta say, I watch this one twice because Vicki has different subs from Gaga. I feel like it’s easier to understand if I watch two different translations of the same script. But it’s still quite a taciturn piece.

Minato's Laundromat Season 2 AKA Minato Shouji Coin Laundry Season 2 (Japan Thu Gaga) ep 8 of 12 - Sides are great. It was mostly a cute ep with tiny bits of Progress and a proper Confession. I miss Shin’s siblings. And then… the much loathed amnesia trope. Really?

Everyone say it with me: Must you, Japan?

Stay Still (Hong Kong Tues YouTube) ep 5fin - It ended happier than I was expecting. Optimistic for one couple, and most likely optimistic for the other.

Summation: What to say about this offering from Hong Kong? It’s different, a mix of early CBL, Taiwanese shorts, and Pinoy visuals. It felt like the story was 2 independent shorts that had been lengthen and then stuck together, and I wish they'd been approached as separate and tighter entities. Nevertheless, this was a complex little piece, interesting in a sweaty grungy way, with a certain aura of queer authenticity that made it simultaneously tense, unpredictable, and refreshing. I’m not sure I would necessarily call it BL, but any county’s early foray into the genre usually starts out this way, so perhaps nascent BL? Worth watching, especially if you enjoy stuff from the Philippines and Taiwan. 7/10

In case you missed it

Dinosaur Love ended its run but the final 2 eps are behind a paywall. Word on the street is they aren't good anyway (shocker) so I'm marking it as DNF and moving on with my life. If I can find em grey I'll watch 'em merely so I can give it a rating, but I can't imagine it will get more than 5/10. Seriously, do not bother.

I love this question so much you don't even know!! <3 I literally went running to grab my laptop so I could write this better because I hate explaining stuff through my phone.

I would absolutely love to write a whole essay about Mike being asexual (and grayromantic too, by the way) but I don't want this post to be too long, so that will have to wait for another day! For now, I will just say some of the reasons why I think he is ace!

(By the way, I don't want people telling me that s4 Mike is "too young" to know if he's asexual because most people start partying and making out/being sexually active at 15/16. Friendly reminder that he was kissing El like crazy when he was only 13, so he clearly knows about this stuff)

Does he ever actually shows interest in people? Like- Not even just women, but at all? We see both Dustin and Lucas focus a lot on people's physical appearance and they're both interested in that. They talk a few times about girls (I'll post an essay someday with pictures included, I promise) and both of them are highly interested in Max the moment she appears. Of course, this could also be used as a proof for Mike being gay, but have in mind that both Lucas and Dustin acknowledge the way Steve looks too! So it's not only that they're interested in girls, but they understand the sexappeal Steve has and why he's so popular. Mike, however, not only does he not care about the subject, but instantly hates talking about it.

It's not exactly proof but the way he talks to Nancy about her and Steve being sexually active (that moment in s1 while they're having breakfast and he jokes about it) is so... Asexual of him. Because I know he's only mentioning it because Nancy complained about the way he was eating first, but as far as I remember he jokes in a "disgusted" way more than in a "teasing" way. And I can totally see Mike being uncomfortable around sex conversations.

You could say "he's only a kid!" to justify the way he acts, but let's be honest here: These kids are mature enough. They know stuff. I can totally see Dustin and Lucas talking about crushes and sex like it's a common thing in s1 (they don't know much about it yet, but they're able to discuss stuff. Lmao, I was talking about stuff like this when I was 11 too) and Mike begging for them to change the subject. In fact, Will does the same thing when Joyce tells him that one day he'll fall in love, and the way he says he will never do it is a hint of him being gay. For me, although we don't have really explicit scenes about it, Mike saying the same stuff about sex would totally be because he's asexual.

In s3 he asks Dustin if Suzie is pretty and argues with him about it (just a few seconds I think), but I don't think he's like truly interested in that? Especially when s3 is commonly known as the season where Mike Wheeler is the most repressed. Maybe he asks that, not because he's interested in the way Suzie looks, but because he wants to fit in. Or maybe he just doubts Dustin is dating someone as pretty as Suzie, which is probably the case and has nothing to do about Mike being interested in girls.

I know we all think the scene in s3 where he gets scared because of the lingerie store is a proof of him being gay, but I like to see it as him being scared of the concept of sexuality and sex rather than just girls. Although that could be, too.

As an aroace person who's still fighting repression, I often use sex and romantic stuff to overcompensate for being like this. I don't talk about my actual feelings... I just act. And Mike pretty much does that with El in s3 (most of their relationship being about kissing and making out instead of talking things out). Again, this could be used for gay Mike too, but I think it could easily be both things.

I know they were just kids but when he met El he wasn't interested at all in the way she looked. Dustin and Lucas thought she was a weirdo for looking like that and, although I obviously think they weren't thinking about sexual stuff at that age, I do think they were heavily influenced by society and they already knew the difference between what's supposed to be pretty and sexy and what's supposed to be weird and ugly. They instantly thought El was weird because they were focusing on the way she looked, but Mike didn't care. He just doesn't care.

I would like to make a reference to my favorite book (Loveless by Alice Oseman) and say that, if Mike hadn't met El and had gone to the Snowball dance alone, he just wouldn't have cared about dancing. Dustin immediately went looking for a pretty girl to dance with, but Mike? And I'm not even just speaking about girls here, I just think he wouldn't care and wouldn't know the difference between people's appearances. Just like Georgia from Loveless doesn't know how to choose in the middle of a club full of people because... She just doesn't feel attracted to them.

I just... Don't see it? I can't see Mike feeling sexual attraction, I'm sorry to all of you out there who think otherwise! Everyone has their own opinions! It's really in character for him to be weirded out by sex, I think. I think it fits him to just... Not care about the way people look?

I don't think he's sex repulsed or anything because I do have in mind that he'd be super happy to be intimate with Will! I think he just might be sex neutral and sex-favorable (he doesn't really have an opinion on sex, he just doesn't care and doesn't really like to talk about it but would happily accept being with Will in that way).

The vibes. I know it's not a valid argument but just look at him. Look at him. That guy doesn't feel sexual attraction like- at all.

I would love to say more stuff but I promised myself to not make this too long and save some things for the actual post about it!

By the way, I'd love to hear everyone's opinions on this but I'd like to point out that this is a really important headcanon for me so if you're going to reply with your thoughts: Please be nice and respectful! It's just the way I see Mike's character, you don't have to agree with me!

finn wolfhard’s “love songs” playlist

how the songs in it could possibly hint at endgame byler

keep in mind this playlist only has 7 songs and was made in january 2017 and also i’m a delusional byler so i’ll take anything

1. boys don’t cry by the cure

pretty self explanatory, but i’m gonna go into it regardless

we all deemed this will’s song because other than the fact that he has a poster of if it in his room, the lyrics resonate with him and his situation with mike. but we don’t talk enough about how the lyrics also make sense from mike’s pov

it feels like the first half of the song is from mike’s perspective, how he has hurt will quite a few times (e. g. “it’s not my fault you don’t like girls” and the rink-o-mania fight) and he feels he can’t come back from that because like the song says “i have said too much, been too unkind” (granted he does apologize to will every time they have a fight and he tries to make it up to him so i’ll give him that). i don’t think i need to get too into why the other half of the song is from will’s perspective, like i said, pretty self explanatory

2. let her go by mac demarco

this is more of a mileven song (although i wouldn’t exactly refer to it as mileven bc it benefits byler). the song is basically about how if you love someone you should tell them but if you don’t you should let them know.

i like the line “separations supposed to make the heart grow fond, but it don’t” because it seemed like that’s basically what happened between mike and el. they’ve been apart for 8 months (maybe?) and all they’ve done since then is lie to each other, causing their relationship to weaken

there’s also that very interesting lyric about the flowers, we’ve talked about how the end of season 4 symbolizes the end of mike and el’s relationship, how the flowers dying (the same ones that mike picked out for her) means their relationship is too

and to top it off, this is how the song ends

which i think it’s so funny considering this is pretty much what mike is doing. yeah, he said “i love you” to el granted it was thanks to will, and the whole thing just didn’t seem genuine (and i swear i’m not saying this with my byler agenda in mind), seems like he can only say he loves her when she’s in danger

you can see how much el doesn’t believe he loves her (or at least that he’s in love with her) by the way they act after the whole piggyback thing, they don’t seem too close, mike tells will she has barely talked to him and again, we get mike and will together in the last scene of season 4 (foreshadowing their relationship in season 5) kinda feels like mike is holding on to el because that’s what makes him “feel safe”, you know? the whole compulsory heteronormativity? but i could just be reaching at this point, you get what i mean

3. lovesong by the cure

this is pretty much just a byler song, also we get more songs by the cure!

the song talks about how whenever you’re with someone you love, you feel like the best version of yourself, like you don’t have to try too hard, talks about how being with the person you love is what makes you happy and complete

if this isn’t mike wheeler with will byers then idk what is (again, pretty self explanatory)

this song also contrasts the last song in a really funny way

especially considering how lovesong fits mike and will’s dynamic and let her go fits mike and el’s

4. africa by toto

i mean i don’t have much to say about this song, it’s not supposed to be a love song (which apparently is a theme with quite a few songs in here) but you could argue some of the lyrics might match mike’s situation, after all art is supposed to be subjective and you can interpret it any way you’d like

i could see how this could relate to mike, especially by the first two lyrics “i seek to cure what’s deep inside, frightened of this thing i have become”. we’re all aware of the theory that mike is gay (or bi or anything else, point is he is queer) and dating eleven bc of comphet, it could also relate to will, but this is finn’s playlist so it’s fair to assume these are about mike

5. inbetween days by the cure

a song by the cure yet again, im sensing another theme

this song was really just so… i literally can’t even form coherent sentences about it so i’m just gonna let you guys take a look at it so you see what i mean

this is so…

this is literally el, mike and will’s whole dynamic i’m like about to run into traffic

it couldn’t be me and her

i don’t even have to put a caption in the pictures for u guys to know what’s happening (also i was too lazy to) but yeah, there would literally be no more mike and el if it weren’t for will

i’m gonna be honest with y’all i’ve been writing this post for quite a while now and im tired of it and i don’t have enough brain to analyze this so interpret it as u will, also i feel like the lyrics are pretty self explanatory (take a shot every time i say that instead of explaining something bc i’m lazy)

7. 前前前世 - movie ver by RADWIMPS

assuming most of u cant read japanese (me acting like i can lmao) i looked up the translation

also, this song was added way after the others were

the first verse and pre-chorus could be interpreted as mike realizing his feelings for will and finally being okay with them but will being upset because it took him so long

and i feel like the rest of the song is quite literally mike and will’s entire relationships from the moment will went into the upside down

it just fits them perfectly

okay now i know this could potentially be a reach, because at the end of the day these are just songs that weren’t made for the show and also weren’t used on the show, but the duffers do get a lot of inspiration from film so who’s to say they don’t do the same with different kinds of media

but this is also not an official playlist, and we don’t even know if it has anything to do with mike wheeler or stranger things, and we know finn is not one to be talking too much (not like noah at least)

however i do find it odd that this playlist has very few songs and some of them are not really love songs at all

finn did make a playlist about richie which includes some of the songs this playlist has, and maybe it’s to get in the mood of the time the movie (IT) and the show (Stranger Things) take place, but half of the songs in this playlist aren’t even from the 80s but from after 2010

again, this is just a fun theory, like i said the playlist was made in 2017 so it could totally just be finn’s love songs playlist, or what 2017 finn considered love songs, either way it’s fun to analyze (especially since we have nothing going on until the script for episode 8 comes out lmao) also i bet someone has probably talked about this before bc u guys are smart, but i’ve never seen a post about it and i wanted to make one

SCP 073 - ‘Cain’ headcannons! :D

- He has been to almost every country - he avoided a few due to racism and homophobia

- In ancient Greece, he was actually a well known painter - but when the romans invaded, all of his art and fame were demolished - He still paints and draws in the modern day, but hides it as he worries that he’ll get teased

- He was around during England’s shakespearean era and really enjoyed watching the plays - his favourites were Macbeth and A midsummer night’s dream - he hated romeo and juliet and still does

- He prefered travelling to colder countries

- He personally knew Judas - I just like the idea of him knowing other biblical characters

- He considered moving to america after the war of independence, but ended up travelling some place else

- He only moved to America in 1918 (just after ww1) and was really badly subjected to racism and hated from the start

- He would go to illegal bars in the 1920s for work and actually was close to becoming an alcoholic when he decided to change occupations

- He avoided being drafted into ww2, as he claimed to be an amputee from ww1 - making him unable to be drafted

- He could kill a lot of people if he wanted to, but at this point he’s just so tired and fed up that he isn’t bothered to

- As a pass time, he learnt how to play the piano. He tells people that it was out of boredom, but really he loved the sound the keys made

- He had a secret lover in 1940, but lost him after he was drafted into ww2 (1942) - Cain asked the foundation to look into his death only to find out he was never confirmed dead. Cain’s been sad about it ever since

On a different subject- just some constructive criticism, your response to that anon left a really bad taste in my mouth because you made your dislike of a random ship about how the Evil Gays are trying to "advance their agenda" through gay shipping...I get what youre trying to say but that is a REALLY loaded phrase in relation to gay issues, as were several other phrases you used, for example, saying gay shippers are delusional, biased, and self centered for projecting their sexualities onto characters. I also hate when ppl misunderstand characters canon relationships and try to pretend their fanon ships are supported by canon. I also hate eruri bc personally I just do not like the ship. But blaming gay people for it is more than a little fucked up lol like you could just say you hate eruri without dragging all gay people into it and making this statement about how the gays are evil for experiencing fandom in a way that you dont like. ESPECIALLY since straight people never have to worry about representation, while a lot of queer ppl "project" their sexualities onto canon characters due to a LACK of that representation. I'm sorry but someone saying "I think Levi is gay" LITERALLY does not hurt you at all, while it might be extremely validating and beneficial to somebody else. If you want to make posts critically analyzing AoT and discussing aspects of the fandom you don't like, you also have to analyze your own biases and how they might affect your posting.

I don't know what they're referring to, as I said. I've never seen any "white supremacy" in the eruri fandom. People love to throw that term around. They love to see racism everywhere.

Look, I'm going to get blunt here, because this is basically the second time in as many weeks that I've been criticized for using general language when referring to a general group, and accused of targeting a specific group. That's an assumption on your part because you're looking to be offended.

When I say "they" and "them", I'm talking about shippers IN GENERAL. ANY SHIP. Not just "gay" shippers or "gay" ships. And I'm not talking about shippers as a whole, but the ones who attack others for not accepting their ship as canon. And when I say people are projecting themselves onto these characters, again, I'm referring to people in general who do this. Whether that's their sexual orientation, or gender identity, or whatever. People project all the time, and then want to force their view of these characters, super-imposed with their own, personal traits, down everyone else' throats. I'm talking specifically about the group of fans who attack everyone and anyone who doesn't accept their headcanon version of these characters as canon. Don't act like you don't know what I'm talking about. You do.

I never blamed gay people for anything, ffs. I never said gay people are "evil". What's "fucked up" is you putting words in my mouth that I never said and then accusing me of being homophobic based on these made up words. I never said people calling Levi gay is hurting me, either. I said focusing on his sexuality and making his sexuality the most essential aspect of his person when discussing his character is distracting and potentially leads to bad interpretation because it literally has no bearing ON his character. His sexual orientation is irrelevant to who he is. People who make their entire identity about who they want to have sex with or who they're attracted to will often project that onto fictional characters, and then get mad at anyone who doesn't do the same. You're doing it right now. And when said characters sexuality has nothing to do with who they are as a character, doing this is harmful to ones ability TO UNDERSTAND said character.

I'm not biased toward gay people. Again, that's all you making assumptions because you want to be offended.

And I don't hate eruri. How hard is it for you to read? I've stated multiple times, in multiple different ways, that I've both written and read countless eruri fics. Some of my favorite AoT fics are eruri and it's the ship I primarily engage with when reading AoT fic. But I guess you just missed that little detail. Convenient for you, since it doesn't support your desire to see me as some homophobic bigot who's insensitive to the gays.

But whatever, I guess.
