(This has to be one of my favorite dialogue exchanges because it is so damn funny in tone when you hear it. Steve sounds like a worried dad over Kamala, which is cute. Tony is being an ass, which is hilarious, and he gets Steve riled up to snap back, which is even funnier. I swear I can imagine Steve counting to ten in his head while Tony silently laughs and grins at how ridiculously adorable he is.)

Random question but you said you and super husband swear by a certain blanket? What's it called?

We use European sized ‘federdecke’ which is German for comforter or duvet - they’re just smaller-than-twin-sized down blankets, but they’re from Germany. My mom lived for part of her childhood in Germany and spoke German, so I grew up calling them federdeckes, and SuperHusband’s dad, that would be SuperPoppi, lived in Germany as well, and his family called them the shortened name of decke. Now, what we swear by isn’t the particular blanket (though I actually do because I sleep in a Heavenly bed of fluffy feathers and soft cotton) but the fact that there are TWO. His and hers. Not shared. Individual. As in: Don’t touch my blanket. But yours smells so nice. That’s because you aren’t allowed to touch it. He kicks blankets off, I nest them all around me. We haven’t bickered about blankets in, well, ever. But they are big enough for two, when two bodies under one blanket is what’s required, ye ken. @uncledalesrules

Steve/Tony (or “Superhusbands”; I love that ship name) has been a background ship of mine for a while, but last night I got the sudden urge to read a whole bunch of Steve/Tony fic. I was feeling myself slipping down a rabbit hole and I was afraid that my brain was about to jump ship (so to speak) just when I’d gotten a whole bunch of new Thorki fic ideas. I woke up this morning with Thor/Loki still my primary ship, but Superhusbands will probably become a bigger proportion of my Tumblr/AO3 diet.

I know a lot of Thorki shippers also secondarily ship Steve/Bucky, and there are certain commonalities there: the ‘grew up together’ aspect, the fact that they temporarily ended up on opposite sides of a fight. But I honestly think Steve/Tony appeals to me for a lot of the same reasons as Thor/Loki. An inventory of the parallels:

Person B (going by ship name order) is smaller, dark-haired, brilliant, and snarky, is often considered a villain (in canon or fandom), has experienced a lot of trauma and doesn’t handle it very well

Person A is larger, blond-haired, muscly, warm-hearted, impulsive, and conventionally heroic; has also experienced a lot of trauma but handles or at least hides it better, though he definitely still has some unprocessed issues

B has a deep-seated envy and resentment of A, based partly on the feeling that B’s father has always judged him inadequate in comparison with A, alongside a still-resentful but almost worshipful admiration

A and B fight a lot -- sometimes just petty bickering, sometimes really devastating interpersonal warfare -- but when they put that aside to work together, they’re a very effective team

You can cut the onscreen sexual tension with a knife

And this one’s just a me-specific parallel:

I personally find B a lot more interesting and attractive than A (I also identify pretty strongly with B... hmm) -- in fact, I sometimes find canon-A and his fan defenders (specifically as against B) pretty irritating, and he really isn’t my physical type (not into big muscles, honestly)

BUT because B admires A so much and so desperately wants A’s approval, and I could never deny my fave anything, I like to read/write fic in which A absolutely adores and dotes on B and is generally the fluffy teddy bear that B needs and deserves

Tony Stark Conspiracy Debunking Hobby

So I would like to imagine that Tony in a need to distract his never still brain would sign himself up for conspiracy theories groups just to debunk them and constantly rebuttal and bicker with people to disprove the theories. He's just sitting there wearing an overly fancy suit with sunglasses (at night of course) sitting in a dingy room full of people who just talk conspiracy with a, nonalcoholic, drink in hand arguing with people about the stupid ideas that are just not feasible. In Tony mind, he is doing the world a favor by getting rid of one conspiracy at a time. He is just that great. It's also a distraction from all the mess that is happening in his life and it's he best way to use brain power without effort when he is unable to turn it off. After Afghanistan, Tony used those sessions as an escape and to cope with what happened by diving into what could have been instead because no matter how much conspirators talk their ideas were no where near as brutal as the truth and it made it a little easier inside. Let's say that Captain America is one of the biggest conspiracies he likes to debunk that somehow, Cap survived and lived on his life as a normal citizen by faking his own death. It always made his blood boil to think that anyone who knew Steve Rogers well enough, Tony studied his case files as well as interviewed very credible sources, would know that the man would not bow out in such a way. He would have come back if not for himself but for those he cared about. So if he even hears a beep about a Captain America theory he was on the squad to shoot it down immediately...unless it was one he liked (like the chance that the man was bisexual so he could at least imagine he had a shot with the hero when he knew he didn't). One day while sitting in an extra dingy bar with terrible lighting and bad drinks, Tony spotted the most gorgeous man he had ever seen. In that moment he made an executive decision to take that man home even if he had the wildest conspiracies. Tony didn't care he needed to talk to that man right then. So taking a deep breath, Tony weaved through the crowd and inserted himself, very coolly as he might add, into the conversation while trying to gain the man's attention. Tony decided to wait to see what the sexy man's contributions to the ongoing theory of whatever was but the longer he watched the more concentrated annoyance that crossed sexy' face. Interesting, Tony noted, this man doesn't like the guy's idea. Before Tony could step in and try to be the annoyingly charming self he knew he was, sexy butted in and began debunking the theory with such ferocity that it took Tony completely aback. So now, not only is this man sexy and smart he is also ant-conspiracy like Tony. How perfect can one man get? Tony wanted to find out. So after finally getting sexy alone he realizes that he has a strong Brooklyn accent that always got Tony week in the knees. They talk about a lot of things and soon Tony is so enamored with him that he forgets he's trying to win that man's number. It only occurs to him that he forgot to ask when he was half way back to his tower making Tony want to scream in sorrowful rage. Now how was supposed to find sexy? And that is how Tony met Steve Rogers and when they finally met again they hit off once more and decided to give each other a shot. Not six months in does Tony find out that his Steve Rogers was THE Steve Rogers and that his new boyfriend was a walking conspiracy in of itself. Of course, Tony Still loved him no matter and they're a tag team now. No one can beat the superhusbands (trademarked by Clint) at debunking conspiracy theories. And soon enough no one tried because they were banned from almost every entity that dealt with that realm by their first anniversary but Tony didn't care he found his other half and suddenly life wasn't so hard anymore.
