so I’ve decided on my birthday cosplays and I chose genderbent tengen and senku (dr. stone). They’re gonna be more of a fashion/streetwear look rather than actual costumes. Also, decided as of today, I am officially done with the cosplay community on other apps! It’s so much drama and unnecessary hate. Danny The Boss:

Oh no. Not only is his darling a fabulous cosplayer they’re also top of the line assassin too. Get this man an ambulance because right now he was about to pass out from his hyperactive imagination of you in the wifey fit from Spy x Family. He actually has those costumes in his sacred closet and he’ll downright get on his knees and beg for you to be the Yor to his Loid.

??? The Enforcer:

You’ve brought out his inner cheerleader since now that he’s discovered that his little spark fire is a cold blooded killer. You bet that he’s gonna cheer you on like the big supportive golden retriever that he is. He’ll shower you with praise for every single name you’ve taken off the map.

Bjorn The Strategist:

For being the smartest one in the room it was ironic how he had no clue of how you were already in the business until you outright told him. The news left him baffled as he sat in his chair with the cold cup of black coffee spilling from his cup until it ran empty. He was the literal embodiment of “Wow…I need to a minute to think about this” I guess those rose colored lenses he wore for the cute barista of his really did make him blind.

Yujin The Hacker:

He actually brought the topic of you being a bounty hunter up to you and bombarded you with all sorts of questions with an excited catlike grin on his face. One day he was absentmindedly stalking you on all social media until he came across something that was a telltale sign that you were in a similar profession. He was literally bouncing off the screens of his pc monitors at the fact that you two shared something in common. And he couldn’t wait to gossip with you about it!

Koji The Medic:

He knew right from the moment he saw that his darling nurse was oddly skilled with his tools. For every “patient” that came in he couldn’t help but be impressed with how well you handled even the rowdiest of the bunch with such effectiveness without breaking a sweat. He just decided not to mention it as it wasn’t necessarily a topic he felt that needed to be addressed as it wasn’t any of his business.

Moros The Torturer:

He couldn’t help but be the mother hen he was and fret over you every time you went out on a mission. He’d constantly worry about how you were doing once you left him to his own devices. It was so bad that he was stuck in autopilot mode the whole entire day until you came back. Even while he was on duty torturing his clients targets as they screamed in agony from him pulling off their nails. All he could think about was wether or not his sunshine ate this morning.

Ossian The Sniper:

Once he found out that you were also a contracted killer from having a stakeout outside your house. Spying on you from his sniper lenses only to find you cutting at dead body and disposing it within a vacuum bag. He’d make sure to stalk you during your mission making sure not to get caught as he headshoted anyone posing a threat to you. Silently cheering you on with a sweet small smile on his face and a fist pump from a distant building. As he gushed over how badass his crush was.

Hi Niuniente, can anyone be considered/label themselves as punk? I'm a big fan of punk rock and the ideals of self expression (more so now more than ever thanks to Hobie Brown + the enterity of Spiderverse) but it feels like I'd be a poser for saying I'm 'punk' due to growing up in a middle class suburbian area.

Sure, why not, if you ask me. Every group, whether punk, manga, lolita, goth, black metal, reggae, cosplayers etc. have their own "Elitists" who will tell you that you need to perform that thing the way X, V, I and P. Then, and only then, you are accepted as True Thing X. But, from my experience, the TRUE people of any genre or underground group are the ones who are most accepting, adapting and supporting of anyone who wants to be in the group. Everyone is a beginner at first, right?

You don't have to earn your rights for underground movements but you're expected to be a certain way once you decide to join in. In punk, resist oppression, aim for equality and kindness for everyone, fight the injustice and just generally don't be an asshole (like so many are). You can do this just simply being a kind, just person, who considers the well-being of others, especially those who need help.

Here are some definitions of punk:

In short; Be genuine and honestly kind and that is enough. It's a far less common than you'd think! Be an ally for those, who need support and who are oppressed by the mainstream.

And if needed, don't hesitate to use your teeth to fight for a good cause.

Hey y'all! It's #28daysofblackcosplay ! A huge reminder that sharing and uplifting Black cosplayers isn't only just in February. Continue the support all year round! I also urge folks to also share and support Black cosplayers who are also LGBTQ, plus sized, disabled etc.

The purpose of 28 Days of Black Cosplay is to highlight and showcase Black cosplayers. To show that black cosplayers are just as amazing as everyone else! 28 days isn't doing 28 different cosplays a day. For some reason, newer cosplayers think this. What you do is share a black cosplayer a day. That's it! And remember, the sharing and supporting isn't only in Feb! Keep the same energy all year long! 💖

Context: The actor of the character Arondir, from the series The Rings of Power, Ismael Cruz Córdova revealed that he had to hired an on set therapist to deal with the racist backlash he faced. He also states that his Paypay was hacked, people found out his address, his friends got nasty messages on he himself got death threats.

And of course the #RespectTolkien crowds is loosing their minds again, claiming that all of this is bullshit, he is lying and they won't believe it until he shows 'evidence' that the racist backlash he faced actually existed.

Some time ago when the first images of the Lotr Magic the Gathering Cards were shown and people were livid because Aragorn was black, remember how someone went ahead and "fixed" the art and made him white. There was also a black cosplayer who was got hate for his cosplay as a guard from Numenor because "there are no black people in middle earth!! 😡" And now this. I am really fucking tired of people in this fandom spewing racist bullshit under the thin veil of "providing criticism" and "preserving Tolkien's legacy" and it annoys me off even more how the majority of people either actively ignores it or even goes on to support these people

Also, this isnt an invitation to talk about how much you love/ hate the the Rings of Power. Literally not the point of this post

In addition; if you feel the need to discuss with these people, don't tag Ismael in it, because he has asked specifically to be left out of stuff like that.

Kupo Con: Pom2, London, 15th & 16th September 2023

Where do I even begin! What a weekend!

Long story under the cut, because I need to tell you everything 😆

Starting off on Friday the 15th, we drove down to our hotel in Watford, which allowed us to get a train into London for Pre-Reg, which was available for Patreons of KupoCon, to get our tickets.

A lot of people were there and I probably knew half of them, or more, from the Discord Server but I was too nervous and shy to go over and say hello. Until I saw the only one I’d met previously, I went over and said hello! She then introduced me to one of the other people there, the cosplayer who won the “People’s Choice” Cosplay award last Kupo and who has been incredibly supportive of me every time I’ve shared progress on Discord and our meeting went like this… (using initials for privacy ☺️)

L: “Hey R this is P, from the discord!”

R: “Are you Blossom!?”

P: “Yes!”

R gives me a big hug

I spent a while talking with him and I think we became fast friends, I felt like I’d known him for ages! (Technically kind of had, because we’ve been talking in the discord) and I was really nervous but he was so lovely and made it so easy to talk to him!

Then, because of train times, we had to leave, but I’d met several of the other cosplayers (mainly Clives… no joke! I met 3 all at the same time!) and I was absolutely buzzing for the main event!

Saturday the 16th, the main event! Me and my mum got to the venue just as the doors opened, within 10mins I was in an elevator with a Noctis cosplayer, who jokingly asked if they’d survive this elevator ride! 😆 I then had a Sephiroth comment on my cosplay as I walked past

I met up with R because I knew how excited he was to see my cosplay, we had another hug (as much as we both could manage anyway; I was in a tight black coat and he was in full Clive cosplay) and he went off to support his friend who was dressed as FFXs Ifrit!

While waiting for the Opening Ceremony to start, I got given my first Masquerade Token! I was beside myself with excitement! I couldn’t believe it!

The Opening Ceremony was so fun! I met a friend who I’ve known online since December, which was amazing!

And then the Cosplay Parade happened! John Bentley (Barret FFVIIR) and Liam Mulvey (Libertus FFXV Kingsglaive) were presenting it, they were both so enthusiastic about it! I was really nervous because I was stepping up onto a stage in front of a lot of people, but I did it, and Liam’s reaction was priceless!

Then we went on our way, wandering the stalls and doing quests. Every time I passed R and his group, he checked in with me, to make sure I was ok and having a good time, which I really appreciated as it was my first Kupo and Cosplay.

Then I joined the queue to meet Liam… I said hello and gave him a print of a commission I’d had done earlier in the year and then he signed my own copy of the print… and then he gave me a Masquerade Token and I was lost for words! Because I didn’t realise the guests would also have tokens!

Riding that high, I decided to join the queue to meet John. And WOW! That man is amazing! He’s so lovely and excited and genuinely loves the community! Once he’d signed my print we went to get a picture, and he complimented me on my cosplay, when I said it was my first one, he was amazed! So he told his wife (who was holding my phone to take the picture for me) to video a message, which is of him saying how awesome my cosplay was, then he gave me another Token! I couldn’t believe it! I excitedly told R what had happened and he said how amazing that was too!

By the end of the day and the start of the Closing Ceremony I had been given 9 Tokens! I had been saying in the Discord Server that 1 or 2 would be amazing! But I got 9!!!

I stayed with R for the Closing Ceremony, chatting and laughing, someone he knew from a past event complimented me on my cosplay, which R instantly agreed with, he was so supportive of everything and I will always be grateful for that

Both the “People’s Choice” and “Staff Choice” award was won by a cosplayer who made, and was operating, Hell House from FFVII which was a much deserved win.

It was at the end of the Closing Ceremony that I got a selfie with Ben, I’d spoke to him briefly earlier, after his panel, saying that I was hoping to get into the queue to meet him properly, to which he replied “Ok, Ardyn!”

But looking at the line to meet him I knew I would miss the opportunity, so as he returned to finish off the signings that were waiting for him I asked if I could grab a selfie, and he said yes, as he ran off to his table he said how good my cosplay was too.

I went over to Liam and John to thank them once again for the Tokens they gave me, and how much they meant to me, they both responded with similar things; that it was deserved!

Feeling the lump in my throat from the emotions those compliments caused, I went over and said goodbye to R, knowing I’d likely not see him again face to face until February for the Birmingham KupoCon, I managed to keep it together until I got back to my mum, I started crying shortly after!

Please! If anyone has read this far who is a Final Fantasy fan I couldn���t recommend Kupo more! It was amazing! I’ve never felt so welcomed and included at a convention before and everyone I met was lovely and supportive

Next stop for me is Birmingham in February, until then… “Walk Tall, My Friends”

Mizuki de Borel (nee Motte)

The timid young Black Mage Mizuki,

Wielded powers both fearsome and spooky,

But her chronic shyness,

Was a bit of a minus,

Which led to her acting quite kooky.

It's time for another episode of my silly poetry series, this time starring the charming and academic Mizuki de Borel of @pumpkinmagekupo.

From the Steppe, to Sharlayan, to the Waking Sands, Mizuki's journey is always entertaining and not infrequently emotionally moving as well. And, as a character, you can't help but become invested in her story.

The writing is excellent, the screenshots are fantastic and the range of orange outfits is astounding.

I urge you to follow @pumpkinmagekupo if you're not doing so already, Mizuki is a fantastic character and the her writer is very supportive of others (and is an amazing cosplayer as a bonus!)

Just thinking about future Yuus of the manga

I love they decided to make a different Yuu for each dorm. It warms my heart 🥺

Yuuken, Yuuka and then Yuuta which, as other people noticed already, seem to embody what the overblot guy is trying ignore/run away from. I may elaborate more on this later, but idk, many already did it better.

So I wonder which Yuu we will get for the future dorms and I had fun making some ideas:

Scarabia: Agni from black butler/kuroshitsuji. I am joking but not really, I do expect a servant to come there and be fully loyal to their boss, maybe because they were helped by them in the past or just because they like them. I also feel Yuu will be a boy here. An overprotective guy that will try to help Kalim and the others, and maybe Jamil feels like his place is in danger? idk Maybe Yuu was helping their boss when the carriage took the actions of truck-kun. Bonus point if the boss was going to be hit and Yuu jumped in to save them.

Pomefiore: Here I feel we may get an influencer girl for Yuu. That also looks a lot like Niege (or really just snowwhite, isn't she 14 too?) and Vil is on the verge of crying. Either that or Epel with a wig just to drive Vil more insane. No in between. She can dance well tho. She was streaming outside how to do some volunteer work when the carriage called.

Ignihyde: Hatsune Miku. No but for real hear me out, she remains in the computer/cellphones of everyone and morally support them as an hologram. She fight in the first line against Ortho in who hackes the system faster. It would be hilarious. Unfortunately, this won't happen, the closest thing would be a cosplayer (of Miku) that is actually an extrovert and becomes friend with everyone quickly. I get the feeling Yuu would be a man. Maybe he was on the way to a convention and stopped by to help someone with their outfit. The carriage-kun arrived.

Diasomnia: Maybe an androgynous Yuu? It would be nice to also have them. Maybe someone related to the military, like a young adult that is serving or maybe the child of two marines. That looks very strict but has a heart of gold and would never left anyone behind. And they are technology-smart (more than Malleus at least). And, unlike Silver, they have insomnia. As for when carriage-kun arrived, maybe they were just helping some granny crossing the road. Granny lived, don't worry.

I think it's really sweet how they included a cosplay gallery in one manga volume, complete with a breakdown of how this really impressive monster suit was constructed. Cosplayers are cool as hell and whatever Zach's doing now, I hope it still involves making creative outfits.
