Hiya! What BL series would you recommend the most? So far, I've loved watching KinnPorsche (it's THE best!!), I Told Sunset about You, Cutie Pie & Bad Buddy. I also got into To My Star because of you, so cheers for that!
Anyway, I would love to watch more shows but I find it a bit hard to navigate because there's so many (and no offense, but some of which I initially started watching ended up being quite lame imo), so I would love to hear about your favs! Thanks in advance if you decide to reply. Have a lovely day/night wherever you are x
I have had this question several times over the past few months, but yours has been, by far, the kindest ask, so I'll answer now:
You don't want my trash recommendations.
So many others on here do it better, like @absolutebl! They have entire spreadsheets to break down preferences while I have five rules:
Don't bury the gay (MANDATORY!)
Be gay. Do crime! aka "Eff the police" (literally and figuratively)
I'm a messy bi, and I'll cry if I want to
Adulting is hard like my sexual attraction for you
Vice Vers(a) - Flipping the norms and changing dynamics
If a show gives me two out of four (since I will never allow a show to Killing Eve me again!), I'm going to fight random people AND their unborn kiddos in the street for it. Case & point:
Tumblr media
HIStory 4: Close to You (2021, 10 episodes, Taiwan - 9/10) - I loved all of. Not some parts. Not only one of the couples. No! ALL. OF. IT! Every couple. Every situation. Including the stepbrothers relationship and the whole ridiculous top/bottom conversations. LOVED IT! It had the messy factor that others only aspire to achieve.
Tumblr media
Taiwan has a tight hold on passionate men in sweatpants and a basic shirt down, and for that, I'm grateful!
Now that you know this is my floor, hopefully you understand that like my fave, Marie Kondo...
Tumblr media
I was raised on telenovelas and soap operas, so if an evil twin kidnaps the protagonist then sleeps with him and has a child who is given up to an orphanage only to grow up and fall in love with his rich (unknown to him) brother and uses witchcraft to give the rival love interest amnesia, I'd be happily sitting every week to witness it with no qualms. Who am I to judge?! Makes sense to me!
Which means I don't LOVE some dramas even though they are great because my basic rules don't apply, the messiness is missing, or they will be too tough to rewatch:
Bad Buddy (7/10) because I wanted one of them to snap, crackle, and pop off at their parents for passing on generational trauma. Also, being in love with Bad Bunny yet trying to say this title was too difficult for my brain.
I Told Sunset About You (8/10) is rude and feels like a personal attack. You've seen it, so you know what I'm writing about. We don't speak about the sequel.
Semantic Error (9/10) hurt because anyone who has been in a group project knows the pain that the lead felt, yet it tried to convince us that he was in the wrong. Team No Group Assignment!
Cherry Magic's (8/10) second couple made me irrationally upset. Cats can bring people together, but these two? Really?! Cats are better than this street dancing moment!
Gameboys' (7/10) whole plot of the dad going out to look for the son and catching COVID was...yeah, no. And if the lead said "baby" ONE MORE TIME, I was going to make like a balloon in a toddler's hand and POP!
We Best Love 1 & 2 (8/10) gave us a five year time jump between the first and second part, and if it weren't for that *excellent* drunk moment, I would have stopped watching it and stored part two in the horrible-sequels-we-don't-speak-about pile.
But a man plotting from the age of ten to manipulate his whole family into accepting him sleeping with his stepbrother (HIStory 4 - 9/10), I fully support.
Tumblr media
Therefore, you don't want what I'm peddling. Unless you do...
Trying to spotlight more recent ones because they will be easier to find
Tumblr media
Be gay. Do crime: Too focused on one a**hole to notice the many plot holes.
Manner of Death (2020, 14 episodes, Thailand - 7.5/10) - A story of two men trying to have sex while EVERYONE around them is being killed. Oh, and then there is a cactus and a baby murderer horribly fighting his feeling for the smartest/dumbest guy in the town.
KinnPorsche (2022, 14 episodes, Thailand - 8/10) - A story about a family that is determined to dickmatize the first person who is kind to them, which you already watched, so you know they succeed.
Eff the Police: Tend to have issues finishing, but always a fun ride *pun intended*.
Not Me (2022, 14 episodes, Thailand - 7.5/10) - Literally, eff the police...but also, figuratively.
HIStory 3: Trapped (2019, 10 episodes, Taiwan - 8/10) - If we can't avoid the cops, sleep with them, so at least we can have a good character witness.
Tumblr media
Messy Bi: There will be tears. Lots and lots of tears.
Love Mechanics (2020 and remake in 2022, 4 episodes/10 episodes, Thailand - 7/10, remake 8/10) - Polyamory is the answer, but the characters refuse to share.
Hello, Stranger (2020, 8 episodes, Philippines - 7.5/10) - A jock decides flirting with a guy is easier than actually doing his portion of the group project. The movie sequel is not on this level.
Tumblr media
Adulting is Hard: The angst is strong, but the chemistry is stronger.
To My Star (2021, 9 episodes, South Korea - 9.5/10) - When being a big star is too difficult, stop showing up for work, crash at someone else's house, and pop his pimples. To My Star 2 is not on this level but still brought the chemistry, so if you didn't watch, do it.
He's Coming To Me (2019, 8 episodes, Thailand - 8/10) - Life is hard, but the afterlife is harder, so pester a kid for a decade until he decides to solve murders. The way the main's sexuality is handled is perfect.
Tumblr media
Vice Vers(a): The confessions are ALWAYS a 10!
Old Fashion Cupcake (2022, 5 episodes, Japan - 9.5/10) - When in love with a boss, walk a delicate line of being the best employee while letting him know exactly the eight ways you can blow hi...his mind...with your mo...monumental organization ski.. Oh eff it him!
My Beautiful Man (2021, 6 episodes, Japan - 9/10) - Just an ordinary man who wants to be loved and the guy who wants to worship him in every way possible.
DNA Says Love You (2022, 12 episodes, Taiwan - 8/10) - The audience knows the whole time what is happening, but has no idea what is actually happening. Is it a ghost story? Is it about a soul reincarnating? Is this about amnesia? Nope. Well, actually...yeah, still no.
I have a lot more, but this is already too long.
All in all, embrace what you like. If you like a certain aspect of show, latch on to it and explore others that showcase that particular plot device. Also, don't be ashamed of what you like. Even if others think it's lame, if you like it, then I love it. Believe me, if China had finished Addicted, there be a lot more people living in glass houses keeping quiet instead of judging us because some guys in the mafia actually do bad things.

Individual Circumstances, Episode 4, end, and we have a mid-series revelation: we learn with a quiet *bang* about their past. It's as muffled as if we are deafened by an explosion--and l guess that's what it is: their school-days friendship that might or might not have been more, and the first inkling of a subsequent abandonment.
Sorry: the question: in how many BL series does something major--a confession, a parental condemnation, the first fight, the first overnighter--neatly halfway through the episode count ? I know it's happened before, though it's beyond me to name even one example. Is Bad Buddy a candidate ? Any others off the top of your head ? Or do you have a spreadsheet for this data point, too ? Don't tell me ...!
Hi Door!
how many BL series does something major--a confession, a parental condemnation, the first fight, the first overnighter - neatly halfway through the episode count
Pretty much all of them that are based on 3 (or 5) act structure. (That means Korea, the non-pulps from Thailand, a very few from Japan, and some more recent Taiwanese stuff).
Midpoint climax.
For those that are angst driven (with little to no external plot or pressure) the half way point will almost always be the first kiss or some kind of confession.
For those that are plot driven, half way will be a major fight sequence, the two going on the run together to get away from baddies, or forced proximity. Since these are romances, the midway pressure usually acts to push the couple together into increased unity or intimacy.
The big argument/fight based on work/family pressure (or other action sequences like injury or kidnapping) that drives a wedge between (or separates) the couple usually comes after the 2/3 mark, often in the penultimate episode. (Hence the “doom of Episode 11″ in all Thai 12 ep BLs.)
This is why it’s fun to know the final number of eps before a start of a show, we can see if they are hitting their beat markers (pacing).
Half way through is almost as important as the penultimate episode. It's really necessary to have something significant happen in the middle of the drama or the whole thing will start to drag. This is a major mistake a lot of the Thai pulps make, neglecting the midpoint climax.
Soap operas, lakorns, arthouse atmospheric stuff, and historicals are different. So are 4 and 6 act structures. So don't expect this kind of pacing from Japan or Chinese bromance action adventures (like Word of Honor or Untamed).
Taiwan is leaning more and more towards 3 act structure (historically they could go either way, but for BL these days...).
Korea adopted 3 act as part of Hallyu, so almost all their stuff has this kind of pacing now.

It’s Episode 11 of Unforgotten Night, traditionally the cursed episode (as the second to last of a 12 episode series). Usually this means the couple will temporarily break up, but occasionally we get some mortal peril. I have no idea what UN will bring us. All the drama? No real drama? Another random threesome? I’m hoping someone gets eaten by a tiger, but based on the preview I’m expecting misunderstandings and breakup. I’m genuinely somewhat distressed, since I like this couple, I’d prefer a successful kidnapping and maybe a gunshot wound. (Shut up that makes sense in my head as better.) Let’s proceed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wait, did healthy communication in a previous episode help prevent an issue?
Tumblr media
Another product placement/tiger shot. Genius.
Tumblr media
And I guess now we’re working on making friends with Kemo, not just Whipped Cream. This is our episode 11 priority somehow.
Tumblr media
Of course our new villain character Danil is showering creepily. We need to waste water or it’s not UN.
Tumblr media
Ooop, there we go, the episode 11 misunderstanding. Kamol was of course only in the process of covering his naked ex with a bathrobe, because no one wanted to see that, including me, great body nonwithstanding. (Edit from future me: I guess Kim was actually there long enough to realize nothing happened, because he never brings this up or appears particularly jealous.)
Tumblr media
More running water. And I’m pretty sure I spotted the chin hair.
Tumblr media
I love how Kim is staking out his territory by being all ‘I control who gets fed in this house.’ And it seems to be working.
Tumblr media
Kamol having Kim come with him when going to confront Danil.
Tumblr media
Really? You don’t? You first met Kim as Kamol was carrying him into their bedroom bridal-style and he clearly runs this house. They’re literally holding hands in front of you right now.
This confrontation is incredible. Danil is chewing all the scenery and Kim and Kamol are just standing there being reasonable people who present a united front. What is this show? How do the mafia boss who wears shoes on the bed and the one night stand he stalked into dating him end up with one of the most functional and healthy relationships based on communication and mutual respect that I’ve seen in a romance show and then everything around them is absolute tiger-filled telenovela softcore porno insanity?
Tumblr media
And despite all of this ex drama, Kim is managing to have a more productive workday than I am (I swear I’m writing most of this on my lunch break).
Tumblr media
Kim, Danil just threatened the lives of everyone you love. Now is the time you need more of that communication y’all were having earlier. You’re being a little too kind and empathetic this episode, I think you need more of that stair-descending energy you used against Cherry.
Tumblr media
Lapsitting right in front of Danil’s salad.
Tumblr media
Uh oh, I guess this is going to be the drama. Even though Kamol said he didn’t care when Kim was fully prepared to tell him all of this. Danil laughs evilly and manage to hurt himself on broken glass, a glass he breaks while randomly falling over just because Kamol turned around a little aggressively.
Tumblr media
Threesomes are fine but they had to censor the cigar. Oh, Thailand.
Tumblr media
Cherry showed up to shoot Kim and our baby Baiboon? Everyone’s fine though and I’m assuming she was being threatened by Danai. I’m disappointed there was less actually getting shot than Bad Buddy.
Tumblr media
If Kamol keeps being fussed about the whole Kim and De thing I’m going to be pissed. YOU TOLD HIM YOU DIDN’T CARE. The lockscreen is a cute touch, though.
In conclusion, this episode was not cursed. By all rights it should have been, but it was like Danil thought he a soap opera villain and was expecting to be able to start shit with his messiness, and then repeatedly running into a brick wall because Kamol and Kim are now in the Reasonable People in Non-toxic Love Show. And it was (probably unintentionally) hilarious. Instead of a dramatic cliffhanger we just end with Kim going to talk to Kamol in person, like a sensible person who wants to resolve relationship issues.
Maybe something will ACTUALLY HAPPEN in the finale? Maybe? But tbh all I really need to have happen is for Kom and Baiboon to get together and we’re good.

🚀 Justin Bieber's Secret Hunt for New Manager REVEALED!
Justin Bieber's Managerial Melodrama: A Comedy of Errors Ah, the wonderful world of pop stars and their managers! It's like a never-ending game of musical chairs where everyone's just waiting for the music to stop, and sometimes, it's more entertaining than an episode of "The Bachelor." 🎶 So, let's talk about Scooter Braun, the manager who seems to be shedding clients faster than a cat sheds fur in the summertime. 🐱 It's like he's playing a high-stakes game of Monopoly, but instead of buying properties, he's losing big-name singers. Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato have officially said, "Thanks, but no thanks," and it's got Scooter in a spin! And then there's our boy Justin Bieber. You know, the guy who went from YouTube sensation to global heartthrob? Well, turns out he's been window shopping for new managers for three whole years. That's like spending more time deciding on a manager than most people spend deciding on a couch. 🛋️ Justin, buddy, are you looking for a manager or just the perfect avocado at the grocery store? Now, picture Scooter Braun, the man who discovered Bieber and stuck by him like a particularly stubborn piece of chewing gum. Seriously, this guy has been mentor, spokesperson, and probably even pillow fluffer to Bieber through thick and thin. But wait, rumor has it these two haven't talked for months! 📞 Maybe their phone plan has a cap on friendship minutes? But hold up, before you start sending sympathy cards, the insiders are here to set the record straight. Apparently, reports of their estrangement are "not true." So, you mean to say they're still chatting over tea and crumpets every afternoon? ☕️🫖 "Hey, Justin, how's the singing? And Scooter, still managing stuff, I assume?" Oh, and let's not forget Taylor Swift, the pop star who can turn any feud into a chart-topping hit. Remember when she accused Scooter of masterfully snatching her masters? That was quite the drama. Swift poured her heart out on Instagram, and all I could think was, "Girl, you've got the emotional range of a Shakespearean tragedy!" 🎭 But wait, there's more! Bieber jumped in to defend Scooter like a knight in shining armor, or rather, a pop star in sparkly sneakers. He's all like, "Yo, Taylor, chill out. Scooter's been our buddy since the days I was singing 'Baby, baby, baby, no!'" It's like a soap opera where the characters defend each other's honor with Instagram posts instead of swords. ⚔️ And let's not leave out Demi Lovato, who swooped in to say, "Hey, stop picking on Scooter, he's a good dude!" It's like a group of high school friends vouching for the one guy who always shared his lunch. 🥪 "Yeah, he might have stolen my cookies, but he's a good man, I swear!" In the midst of all this managerial mayhem, it's clear that loyalty is as rare as a unicorn in the pop music industry. 🦄 Celebrities standing up for their managers, managers standing up for their clients – it's like a bizarre version of "Family Feud" where the answers are all about who's got your back in the celebrity jungle. So, as we watch these pop stars navigate the crazy world of managers, let's remember that even in the glitziest of industries, friendships can be as fickle as a Hollywood weather forecast. ☀️🌧️ But hey, at least it's more entertaining than a reality TV show, right? Time to grab some popcorn and settle in for the next episode of "Managerial Melodrama." 🍿🎬# Justin Bieber's Managerial Melodrama: A Comedy of Errors Ah, the wonderful world of pop stars and their managers! 'Smallville,’ ‘Saved by the Bell’ Stars Plus Levi Next Celebrity Wave at FAN EXPO Philadelphia
Tumblr media
If fans thought that FAN EXPO Philadelphia was bringing the best celebrity lineup ever to the City of Brotherly Love, just wait until they see today's wave of guests announced for the event, set for June 2-4 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Eight headliners from popular shows and films keep the list growing, as Tom Welling, Kristen Kreuk and Michael Rosenbaum (“Smallville”); Mark-Paul Gosselar and Mario Lopez (“Saved the Bell”); Giancarlo Esposito (“Mandalorian”); Zachary Levi (Shazam!); and Hayden Christensen (Star Wars franchise) join a roster already brimming with standouts from across the pop culture world.
Welling is probably best known for his role as “Clark Kent” in "Smallville.” He has also played “Lt. Marcus Pierce / Cain” in “Lucifer” and “’Karate Rob’ Meltzer” in “Judging Amy” and has had roles in the films Cheaper by the Dozen, The Fog, Draft Day and The Choice.
Kreuk appeared on "Smallville" as Clark's original love interest, “Lana Lang” and was also featured as “Catherine Chandler” in The CW sci-fi series "Beauty & the Beast" and as “Joanna Hanley” in the CBC legal drama series "Burden of Truth."
Rosenbaum starred in the role of “Lex Luthor” on "Smallville" and most recently as the character “Buddy Dobbs” on the TV Land series "Impastor." He is also known for voicing “Wally West / The Flash” on the popular animated series "Justice League" and "Justice League Unlimited."
Gosselar first gained acclaim for his role as “Zack Morris” on the teen comedy “Saved by the Bell,” before longtime roles in “NYPD Blue,” “Raising the Bar” and “Franklin & Bash.” He was also the co-lead in the baseball-themed series “Pitch” and recently had a two-season run as the father “Paul Johnson” in the ABC series “Mixed-ish.”
Lopez also got his start on “Saved by the Bell,” then had long runs on the beach police drama “Pacific Blue” and the soap opera “The Bold and the Beautiful.” He is known to a whole new audience as the host of the syndicated newsmagazines “Access Hollywood” and “Extra.”
The prolific veteran film, television and stage actor, director and producer Esposito, in addition to his role as “Moff Gideon” on the Disney+ series “The Mandalorian,” is well known by television audiences for his iconic portrayal of drug kingpin “Gus Fring” in AMC’s critically acclaimed award-winning series “Breaking Bad.”
Levi took a superhero turn in the title role of 2019’s Shazam! among a busy resume that features more than 70 roles in such popular series as “Chuck,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” and “Less than Perfect.” He lent his voice talents to the full run of “Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure” and has more than a dozen other voice credits supplementing his body of work.
Christensen starred as “Anakin Skywalker” in the Star Wars prequels Episode II - Attack of the Clones in 2002 and Episode III - Revenge of the Sith in 2005. He’s had lead roles in the films Jumper and Shattered Glass and has appeared in more than 30 other series and movies.
The eight blend nicely into a slate which includes icon Michael J Fox, his Back to the Future costars Christopher Lloyd and Tom Wilson; Henry Winkler (“Happy Days,” “Barry”); Christina Ricci (“The Addams Family,” “Wednesday”); Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead, Spider-Man); “Arrow” stars Stephen Amell and Emily Bett Rickards; “Punisher” standout Jon Bernthal; “Daredevil” headliners Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox; “Stranger Things” breakouts Joseph Quinn and Grace Van Dien; Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings, Rudy); Peter Weller (Robocop, Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension); Katee Sackhoff (“The Mandalorian,” “Battlestar Galactica); and Bonnie Wright (Harry Potter).

But actually though what was the point of that scene in 4x08 with Eddie coming home to Buck??? It did not immediately further the plot and was not addressed again and Buck and Eddie proceeded to have zero face-to-face contact the rest of the episode. I'm just??????🙄🤔🤨🙃

RE Boys x Sappy Reader Headcannons
Tumblr media
Carlos
He's a softy himself, so any emotion isn't foreign to him.
Being sappy with him isn't an everyday thing, but when it comes to shows or movies about a dead parent and the kid not understanding their parental figure is dead or gone, you are beside yourself.
"But Simba doesn't understand!" You cried, leaning into Carlos as you watched the movie. Why had you picked out this one? You knew it was emotional, but Carlos said he'd never seen it and you wanted to share it with him. You forgot about this part in the head of wanting him to witness Timone and Pumba.
"I know, baby," Carlos said, holding you close under the throw blanket you were sharing. You weren't looking at him, but you could hear the small sniffle that came from him as Simba kept trying to wake his dad up, begging him to get up and go home. It was when Simba was trying to even lift him up that you lost it, burying your face into Carlos' chest to cry as he pressed his face to the top of your head.
That wasn't the first or last time you were emotional over something and Carlos had the same reaction. Anything with family, like that damn Christmas Folgers commercial had the two of you clinging to one other as he tried to keep a stiff upper lip as you blubbered about the song coming home as a surprise.
'Land Before Time' was not allowed to be played unless you both consented to being sobbing messes for the evening.
Forget 'Homeward Bound'. You couldn't handle the fact that the older dog got stuck in the pit even though he made it out.
Every time you were weepy over any movie or show or commercial or even a Hallmark card, Carlos was with you to comfort and hold you and shed his own tears over imaginary stories.
Tumblr media
Chris
He's a quiet guy, pretty straightforward and not too emotional. While he's not uncaring or 'too manly' for softer things, he doesn't exactly show the whole range of expressions that some people do. But he tries to help as best he can. Usually in the same way a cowboy would handle a spooked horse.
So when you started to get teary eyed over a baby duck on its own, he was ready to help.
"Its all by itself and it's quacking for its family," you whimpered as you tried to guide it back towards the pond as Chris watched. "I gotta help it find its family, Chris."
"I don't think its family is around here, babe," Chris said as he looked around, keeping you in front of him. It wouldn't be the first time you disappeared trying to help a lost animal or child.
"But we have to help it, we can't just leave it," you said, looking up at him with those big, watery eyes that made him melt every time.
"Alright, let's look around to see if we see any other ducks have babies here," he said with a sigh as he herded you as you herded the baby duck back to the water.
A few minutes later of searching and a family of ducks appeared from behind some cattails in the pond.
"There they were little buddy," you cooed as you ushered the duckling over to the others. The mother duck was quickly accepting of the baby as it joined the others to swim off into the water.
"We saved the baby," you said with a smile. "Thank you for helping." You wrapped your arms around him tightly, sniffling at the reunion of baby and mama.
"You're welcome, babe," he said with a soft chuckle, holding you close.
Tumblr media
Leon
It's not that he's not emotional or doesn't know how to handle emotions from others.
But Leon is bad with emotions.
Whether it's from genuinely being bad with comforting or the years of horror that he's witnessed, Leon can be a bit slow on the up take.
He watches this show with you every week, it's the one thing you asked for as a sort of date night and he couldn't tell you no. 'Once Upon A Time.' It's fairy tales turned into some sort of soap opera type drama. All he knows is that you love it and keep up with it. Leon is kind lost on what's happening most of the time, but he tries at least.
That particular episode was about the Mad Hatter and how he became the Mad Hatter. Leon was able to get that much information before he zoned out and when he zoned back in, he felt you shaking against him as the character was screaming on screen as two people jumped through a mirror?
"Hey, what's wrong?" He asked softly, looking from you to the TV. Your eyes were filled with tears and at first he thought something bad had happened, but you were staring at the TV.
"The Evil Queen just tricked Jefferson into leaving his daughter all alone. She's never going to know what happened to her daddy," you said, sniffling as you wiped the tears from your face.
"Oh," he said, his brain working fast to try and decipher what that meant for you.
"She's an orphan, Leon," you cried, pointing to Jefferson on the show as he literally lost his head to the Queen of Hearts. "He's trying so hard to fix things so he can get his little girl back, but he can't. He's trapped in that curse knowing she's living a life of love and happiness without ever knowing he exists. Isn't that awful?"
It did sound really crappy.
"Well, maybe in the next few episodes he gets her back," Leon suggested, trying to at least help you stop crying. If you were sad about something like work or him leaving, that was easy to fix. But he had no clue how to handle TV emotions other than hugging you close. "I mean it's just a TV show. They write it to be sappy on purpose."
"That's not the point Leon!" You said, slapping his thigh, making him yelp. "It's sad so I'm sad!"
"Well, how do I make you unsad than?" He asked, shifting to make sure you wouldn't hit anything valuable if you struck again.
"I don't know, but I feel so bad for him!"
Leon was going to write ABC a sternly lettered word about how this TV show was written.

about bad buddy ep 9… it has been three days but this episode still haunts me. i’ve been trying to make sense of it, justify it but i just cannot get behind it. i am so disappointed with this episode it hurts me on a physical level. let’s start with the first and the biggest reason: the way the whole wai situation was handled. or how it was not handled. because wai outing patpran was completely glossed over. the only explanation i could think of to that was patpran not knowing that it was wai who outed them. but if that’s not the case and this is the conclusion to that whole story then the way they wrote it is just terrible. i’ve seen people say that it is not considered ‘outing’ because homophobia doesn’t exist in this world. i’d argue that homophobia does in fact exist in this world. characters being comfortable with their sexuality and not experiencing internalized homophobia do not mean that there is no external homophobia either. because if this was an alternate universe in which homophobia is not present at all then why would there be scenes such as:
pran expecting his friends to drop the conversation when he tells them that the person who is flirting with him might be a guy. pat’s friends stopping to knock on the door when pat tells them the person is not a girl like they assumed but it’s a guy instead. pat’s father expecting his son to be with girls. pran’s father asking his wife what if our son dates a guy. pran being surprised when he hears his mother say he can bring a guy home. pa saying she doesn’t mind pat being gay.
these all show that, no this world is not this utopia in which you can be whoever you are without any fear of being oppressed or judged for it.
but even if it was, what wai did would still be unforgivable because he exposes his best friend pran’s relationship with a content smirk on his face just after he hears pran say he is afraid of people finding it out. and even if it that would mean he just exposed their relationship, given the fact that this show has been so heavily queer coded from the start, it again equates to him outing them.
and how do the writers deal with this major issue ? by writing the weakest, poorest, and out-of-the-pocket closure to it. they make pran who is the actual victim apologize to wai who acts as if he is the victim. and then they bring in a random rugby guy with a gun and the soap opera like shenanigans ensue. pat getting shot and being charged for weapon possession ? really ? is this ridiculousness written by the same people that wrote the extremely thought out and developed previous eight episodes ? yeah, maybe it is a reference to baz luhrmann's romeo + juliet like some people said but it doesn't fit in with the mood of the other episodes. it feels odd and out of nowhere.
and then wai is not even being pardoned, for doing the bare minimum of human decency by the way. but instead is shown as if he was kind enough to save pat from wrongfully going to prison despite what pran has done to him. wow.
and on the topic of pran. i think this episode should have been from his point of view. it should have been all about pran and how he is feeling about his fear of his relationship with pat being exposed coming true. but instead we get non of that. no scenes with pran struggling with this. no scenes with pat and pran discussing this. like why ? was it really that hard to cut some of the almost real time lengthy rugby match to write a deep and emotional conversation about this between pat and pran ? and what’s worst is that pran throughout this episode was completely stripped off his agency and was reduced to an extension of pat. because it is pat who makes it possible for louis and safe to start speaking with pran by winning the rugby match. it is pat’s selfless act of taking a bullet for wai that mends wai and pran’s relationship. this episode was basically a typical generic bl episode in which one of the characters is an ideal perfect boyfriend and the other is just there so that the ideal perfect boyfriend character can show how much of an ideal perfect boyfriend he is. what we should have gotten instead was pran’s character development making progress. maybe pat could have been the one to open pran’s eyes as to wai’s true colors of him being a manipulative and toxic friend who leeches off of pran. and pran could have taken initiative to cut wai off with pat’s incent. but no. instead we got pat pran and wai being best friends and riding off into the sunset.
another issue i had is with inconsistency. i know we all loved to see korn being the best boy but korn is the same guy who was okay with harassing a girl by knocking on her door until she opens and is irrational and heteronormative. i’ve seen people say how korn turning out to be supportive as opposed to what would be expected of him is a way of writers manipulating the viewers’ opinions just to later subvert those opinions. but still i’d expect korn to be at least a little surprised upon finding out that pat whom everyone perceives as the men’s man to be dating a guy. because up until this point korn was pretty heteronormative. if this lack of shock is because korn might also be bisexual or into men, then there should have been a hint to his sexuality before but there wasn’t until this episode. but korn has been a minor character in previous episodes, so maybe that's why we never got to know him in depth that much.
but what bothers me the most about korn being supportive is not inconsistency, it’s about how pat never suffers as much as pran does. it is pran’s friends who suck, it is pran who has to transfer. maybe pran's other friends louis and safe could have at least been supportive. but the burden of the relationship being impossible and forbidden always weighs heavier on pran’s shoulders. pat has friends and a family member who are supportive from the start. but for pran, he has to go through the pain of his friends and family shunning him for being with the person he loves, alone. i'm not saying pat should have also been ostracized from his circle and suffer but i'm just saying that pran has it worse most of the time.
and that’s why i’d hate it if pat’s toxic masculinity incarnation, petty, my son must be a mini me and can’t be his own person father, turns out to be more understanding than pran’s mother when patpran’s relationship is revealed to the parents.
at this point i’m not even hopeful about inkpa happening. and the thought that we might see patpran being best buddies with wai next episode makes my skin crawl. i just can’t. whatever. i know a lot of people will disagree with me but i had to get this out of my system somehow so…

Potential Plots and Wacky Things Supernatural Could Have Done (because this show is batshit and there are no rules) But Didn’t Do: A Comprehensive List
Sam and Dean body swap
Cas and Dean body swap
Cas possessing Dean (insp. @casgirl )
Gender swap alternate reality
Claymation (bc I think it would be funny)
Claire and Jack episode
Jack is an actual physical baby for an episode
Address Noah’s Ark
Dean should have had to flirt with a guy for a case because you’re telling me that I’m 15 years that situation never presented itself ??
A boss battle style episode where they bring back a shit ton of the rando people/monsters they encountered and have an absolutely insane fight and people you never would have expected to meet each other team up (once again, bc I think it would be funny)
Cas and Garth buddy cop episode (insp. @queen-rowenas )
Musical episode but actually like Broadway musicals this time
Meeting their past selves
Or alternatively, a very Prisoner of Azkaban, change the past, whatever you do do not meet your past self episode
Fuckin pirates
FAKE. MARRIAGE. FOR. A. CASE. (w*ncest freaks I’m not talking about you. Any pairing but that whether it is romantic or platonic)
Classic filler episode where absolutely nothing happens. It’s just mundane shit the whole time. (insp. Miss Becky herself)
more. crossover. episodes. (my personal choice would either be Criminal Minds, Gravity Falls, or Riverdale
A good old fashioned train murder
Jack gets a camera and we see the episode home-movie style
Shitty soap opera
That thing when people are tied up back to back and upside down
John Winchester has other children (for plot reasons this couldn’t happen but I think it would be funny if they just KEPT running into people that are John’s kids and they’re like wtf ????)
Let Travis McElroy be on the show
NO ONE WAS EVER INVISIBLE ON THIS SHOW ARE YOU KIDDING ME
An almost kiss. (Not the way it usually is when you’re like “this is where they should kiss dammit!” but like an ACTUAL almost kiss be it accidental or intentional)
Santa Claus. yeah.
Dean’s terrible diet catches up with him
Edit: I just want to clarify that I know some of these things exist in the background, or based on technicality, but that’s not what I mean. When I say I want invisibility to be a plot I mean like, it’s a witch curse that they have to deal with as the central motw premise. Not just a random guy. Same thing with Santa Claus or pirates or what have you. Like give me a fun episode centered around these things.

Serendipity - Buddie Soulmate Au - 1/?
Summary: Soulmate Marks were personal, they were the most personal thing that a person could have. They were the connection to your other half, the thing that linked you so completely to someone in a way that was magical and unexplainable and they were supposed to be yours and your Soulmates and no one else’s.
When Buck's Soulmate Mark is leaked to the world, ruining his plans of meeting his Soulmate organically, he has no idea that fate has him covered.
Meanwhile, Eddie has never watched an episode of Serendipity, but starting the show involves becoming a fan of one Evan Buckley and finding out that the Soulmate he wasn't looking for is a famous actor responsible for his new favorite show.
Notes: Serendipity is defined as: the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way.
Welcome to my new Soulmate AU. I've been wanting to write another Buddie Soulmate AU pretty much since the last one I wrote and then this idea popped into my head. It is a WIP and I am honestly still figuring things out about this fic so the tags and rating may still be updated. Enjoy. :)

Chapter One
The entertainment news were at it again. Some of the pictures were grainy, kind of unclear and you could only just barely tell it was him inside the car. It was just that Buck was distinctive and he hadn’t been trying to hide who he was that day. On a day when he was trying to go incognito, Buck would cover up the birthmark above his left eye with the expensive make-up that a stylist had recommended to him — the kind that they’d used back in his soap opera tv-days when he’d had to play his own identical twin whose only difference was the lack of mark. He would wear his aviator glasses and maybe a hat on his head and his clothes would be comfortable and worn and of course, Buck wouldn’t be driving his Jeep. It didn’t stop some people from noticing him and asking for pictures or autographs if he was out and about and someone got a closer look at him, but it kept some people unaware which gave him anonymity. Buck didn’t really mind that kind of attention because it felt like he was bringing people joy and maybe because it made him happy too.
“After months of silence, we finally have a Buck sighting,” the E!News reporter said as the pictures were shown going from the first grainy ones showing him driving his car to the more clear ones.
He was getting out of his Jeep in a few and then the next ones had him going into the bookstore. After that came when he exited the store with a small white canvas bag. A few pictures of him inside his Jeep driving away came next.
“Buck was seen out shopping at a bookstore in downtown L.A. This is the first time anyone has seen Buck since the picture revealing his Soulmate Mark was leaked a little over three months ago. That breach of privacy coincided with the end of filming for season three of HBO’s Serendipity whose season finale will be airing this Sunday. It has been complete silence from Buck since the incident three months ago.”
“Well can you blame him?” the other host of the show said. “Buck has always been a private guy when it came to his Soulmate Mark. Always keeping it covered up. No one even knew where his Mark was until that picture came out.”
They showed the picture. Buck couldn’t look at the screen. He couldn’t be reminded of how stupid he’d been to let that picture be taken when he hadn’t had it covered up. He’d been so stupid to trust her and to imagine that he’d found someone that could be his friend and that he could let in.
He’d missed a bit of what the E!News hosts were saying, but when he looked back up they were still talking about him but at least they had moved on to talking about Serendipity. That’s what all the pictures had been about anyway. It wasn’t that Buck hadn’t needed to go to that bookstore, he had a PA that could have gone and picked up the books for him, not to mention that there was always the option of getting anything shipped. The whole thing had been very calculated exactly so that the entertainment news cycle could talk about him and the show. Buck had even known exactly where the cameras had been situated. Everything in Hollywood was a calculated business arrangement.
The hosts finally moved on to something else, a young singer had gotten caught with his pants down — literally. Buck didn’t even know who the guy was, but he let himself chuckle before turning off the tv.
It hadn’t been too bad. His publicist said that until Buck actually spoke about what happened with his Soulmate Mark, it would be subject for speculation since all the public knew was that the pictures had been leaked. Going out and getting his picture taken began a conversation without Buck having to speak out or explain anything. It got people talking and it promoted the show too.
The leak had happened at the worst possible time for him. No one knew how it had been leaked or by who. None of them knew that for Buck the whole thing had felt world ending. At least, because filming was done, Buck had been allowed to disappear for three months. Buck had even been booked to a bunch of talk shows to talk about Serendipity that week, and no one had been mad when Buck pulled out from every single one. It was just that everyone did understand on some level.
Soulmate Marks were personal, they were the most personal thing that a person could have. They were the connection to your other half, the thing that linked you so completely to someone in a way that was magical and unexplainable and they were supposed to be yours and your Soulmates and no one else’s. At least, that’s what it used to be.
The age of the internet had changed things. Before then, there had been matching services where you would provide a picture of your Soulmate Mark and then the matching service would work to figure out if they had someone with the same Soulmate Mark in their database. Even if they had a match, it took months to figure it out and the whole thing wasn’t popular in the first place. It was always a long shot. But then the internet grew into popularity and with it the option to have your Soulmate Mark added to a world wide database. Maybe it wasn’t romantic, but people were impatient and most people did put their Marks on there with the hopes to meet their Soulmates faster.
There was still some anonymity in that it was a computer program that matched up the Marks and then informed the people involved. But once people were comfortable with sharing their Marks like that, it became more and more common — especially for younger people — to just show off their Marks. Social media made that even more prominent. It didn’t help that a lot of celebrities didn’t hide their Soulmate Marks. Some because they had found their Soulmate and wanted the world to be aware, and others because they liked the attention, and some because they hoped to find their Soulmate that way.
Being a celebrity with a known Soulmate Mark came with its own hardships especially for those that hadn’t met their Soulmates yet because some fans were crazy enough to fake Soulmate Marks. It wasn’t easy to fake a Mark and make it look like it was the real thing, but even if someone did manage to do it, it wouldn’t take much to disprove it and just a touch alone was enough for the Mark to be discovered as fraudulent.
For Buck, it wasn’t that he didn’t want to find his Soulmate, it was that he wanted it to happen organically. He wanted to run into them somewhere and just know because that’s what it was supposed to be. He wanted his fingers to skim over the matching Mark on someone else’s skin without having first seen a picture of it on Instagram. He’d wanted his Mark to be for the eyes of his Soulmate and the very few people that had ever gotten so see it. It had always felt like one of the last things that Buck still had when everything else about his life was public and scrutinized. Someone had taken that away from him.
And while at first in the days following the release of the picture, Buck had felt destroyed and betrayed, a week into it he’d wondered if the silver lining would be actually finding his Soulmate. Of the nine people that had come forward, none were the real deal. Buck hadn’t even had to meet all of them because the fake Soulmate Marks hadn’t been good enough. One Mark belonging to a woman named Ali had looked like it could be the real deal and Buck had been convinced to meet the woman. His first impression was that she was pretty, he wouldn’t have minded if she was his Soulmate. She hadn’t even seemed like a crazy fan and the Mark was definitely a real Soulmate Mark, it just didn’t actually match Buck’s even if it came close. They’d known the moment their hands touched in a handshake, when nothing happened. No tingles. No warmth over the Marks.
“I didn’t think it would be you,” Ali told him. “My friends, they’ve all seen mine and when they saw yours they were sure it was the same. Figured I had to try, I guess.”
She was genuine, and Buck liked her eyen more when at the end of their meeting she reached out and touched his arm.
“I do want to say, I’m sorry about what happened to you. No one’s Soulmate Mark should be leaked like that.”
He’d thanked her and then she was on her way and Buck hadn’t had to meet anyone else that contacted his agent about possibly being a match for him. It was either that his Soulmate somehow hadn’t seen the picture, or that knowing it was Buck had put them off. His sister thought he was being ridiculous in thinking that way.
“You didn’t even want to meet them this way. I don’t understand...are you disappointed?”
“No. I guess I figured something good might come out of it,” Buck said and they didn’t talk about it again.
Maddie had met her Soulmate already and something about that made her less pushy about Buck’s own thoughts about the whole thing. Buck had expected her to be mad on his behalf when the picture was leaked, and she was, but then she hadn’t pressed and pushed and tried to make him talk about his feelings and about what his options were. Instead, she’d been supportive and let him call the shots and when he told her that he was going to leave the spotlight for three months and literally not even leave his house she’d only offered to stay with him for support instead of trying to get him to confront the whole thing head on.
A text came through on his phone and Buck glanced at it.
Chim: Saw the pictures. I didn’t know you could read.
Buck laughed out loud. Chim was Maddie’s Soulmate. He was a firefighter/paramedic with the LAFD and he was one of the few people that Buck had met after becoming famous that didn’t shy away from teasing Buck. Buck had liked him almost instantly and he’d known that he was perfect for his sister.
Buck: Maybe that will finally make them figure out how fake this is.
Chim: You are okay with all of this, though? Them talking about you again.
It wasn’t a question of whether he was okay with it. He had to be. Promoting the show was written into his contract and while Buck had managed to get out of a number of interviews back when the pictures were leaked, that didn’t keep the studio and the show runners from needing him to show up. In some ways, it was nice that the scandal meant Buck didn’t actually have to do much. He did have one interview to do and at least it wasn’t live so they could cut around things, and they’d asked him to do a Q&A over Twitter. Stepping out and getting papped hadn’t been the worst thing.
Buck: It isn’t a big deal. Hope the finale on Sunday distracts them some.
Chim: It’s gonna be a cliffhanger isn’t it?
 Buck: 🤷‍♂️
Buck laughed when he saw the gif that Chim attached to his next text. It was from Serendipity and it featured Buck’s character, Jasper, throwing up the middle finger.
There were other texts on his phone. There were always texts on his phone, but Buck didn’t want to deal with other people so he ignored them in favor of getting up and walking to his kitchen to figure out dinner. Cooking had been an easy escape in his time away from everything. It was nice to just be on his own reading and following instructions and then getting to eat the end results and know that his own hands had made it possible. It was a skill that was entirely different from everything else he did and needed to do for his job.
Buck had never set out to be an actor. He’d fallen into it like people fell into other jobs. It was just that for a while all he’d done was go from place to place — Buck didn’t like to talk about how a part of him had moved so often in search of his Soulmate  — and he’d wound up in L.A. and somehow found himself working as a PA on a set. And then, he’d found himself showing up for an audition and surprising everyone including himself by getting cast. Buck hadn’t known what a high it would be to act, to become someone else and embody those emotions and display them for all to see. He hadn’t known that he’d been training for it his entire life and that he did owe some of his skill to how much pretending he’d done growing up. He had no regrets about his choices or where he’d ended up.
Being a working actor in Hollywood hadn’t been easy off the bat and for a while after that initial role he’d settled into work on a Soap but his agent had sent him on audition after audition and Buck had become a much better actor by then. He’d taken a few classes to improve himself and it all paid off when he had a big break that really made him a household name.

I've been reading university and societies and I absolutely love it
1. I personally also struggle with figurative language and heavily relate to taka so I love when ppl write him w the trait
2. Taka being confident is amazing ty for this blessing
3. Fuckin....... Daiya bonding with dad ishimaru is beautiful, boot puke included
Basically, it's hella good and your writing is appreciated
Hey! Thank you for this ask @insertclevercomebackhere I’m really happy to hear when people enjoy the fic ☺️
1. I love writing Taka, I’m glad to hear he comes off as relatable
2. Yessssss! Confident Taka is one of my favourite headcanons along with flustered Mondo, it was a no brainer for me to make Taka the lead in their intimate moments 👌👏
3. Let 👏 them 👏 be 👏 buddies - In this fic they totally become besties when the boys get together, some of my hc’s for their friendship are:
- They see each other as equals because they both respect the effort they put into their respective roles and the whole coming from the bottom stuff (they know the other didn’t have it easy)
- They share parenting stories and though Takaaki always feels a twinge of pain for Daiya having to raise a kid while being a kid they laugh about the wholesome moments and console over the harder ones
- Takaaki got Daiya hooked on soap operas and now they call each other every night to recount the episode’s events (though Daiya visits a hella lot so most of the time they watch them together if they can)
I drew the last one below 🙂 once again thanks for sending this ask!

my fics
REDACTED
at least for the moment
in case my little sister sees this
my fandoms
bad buddy [แค่เพื่อนครับเพื่อน]
thai bl series by gmmtv, university-set boy-next-door enemies-to-lovers romcom, basically romeo and juliet but make it gay and thai and really fucking funny and sweet and there are lesbians!!!
led by two of the best actors thai bl has to offer
haven’t finished this yet but i need to
legally available free, with eng sub, on youtube
blueming [블루밍]
korean bl series, rivals-to-lovers university film students romance, startlingly profound and poignant in its treatment not only of awkward young love but of family trauma, quietly but gorgeously shot and overall just great. one of my favorites ever. it hit all the right notes for me. great rewatch value too (and also there are kind of possibly baby lesbians)
adapted from the webtoon ‘who can define popularity?’ by tak bon
legally available, with eng sub, under the vip subscription to iqiyi
kinnporsche [รักโคตรร้ายสุดท้ายโคตรรัก]
thai bl series by be on cloud, currently airing, enemies-to-lovers mafia mystery with lots of action of both the gunfight and the *ahem* swordfight kind, great cast and acting, great production quality, storyline taking some worrisome turns recently but for better or worse i am utterly hooked
adapted from a webnovel by daemi but apparently worlds better than its source material so far
legally available, with eng subs, free (tv version) and subscription only (uncut version) on iqiyi
long time no see [롱타임노씨]
korean bl series by strongberry, a queer indie production house for which i would run barefoot to the ends of the earth. webnovel writer and one of his fans fall in love only to realize that they are both hitmen on opposite sides of a mafia turf war.
it’s a love story but it’s also a story about the best and the worst of family and it is! so! good! low budget but awesome acting, filming, chemistry, action scenes, humor, the whole nine yards. kinnporsche might let me down but this mafia bl will always be there for me
legally available, with eng sub, under the subscription on gaga
meow ears up! [น้องเหมียว ในห้องผม]
sweet silly little thai bl, currently airing, about a comic artist falling in love with a catboy featuring equally adorable side ships including a lesbian couple! the wigs may be horrible but the vibes are friendly and full of light
adapted from the manga ‘hey, your ears popped out!’ by tracy hu
legally available, eng sub, with a subscription on gagaoolala. a few episodes have been uploaded onto youtube too
mó dào zǔ shī [魔道祖师] ‘grandmaster of demonic cultivation’
basically a gay chinese soap opera historical fantasy, really long and wildly confusing and often rather ridiculous but once it gets hold of you it will never let you go
webnovel by mòxiāng tóngxiù, adapted into a manhua and a donghua of the same title and a live-action drama called chén qíng lìng [陈情令] ‘the untamed’, donghua and drama both censored but the ‘b’ in ‘bromance’ is irrelevant
drama legally available free, with eng sub, on viki
mr. unlucky has no choice but to kiss! [不幸くんはキスするしかない!]
japanese bl, currently airing, university-set magical realism (?) romance-with-ulterior-motives. carrying on the proud tradition of great shows with wtf titles. reminds me a lot of cherry magic (cute clumsy dork x swoonworthy gentleman) but we’ve already gotten a kiss and there might??? be lesbians???? here’s hoping
adapted from a manga of the same name by tsuyu gamoko
legally available free, with eng sub, on gaga and under the standard subscription on viki
not me [เขา...ไม่ใช่ผม]
thai bl series by gmmtv, fast-paced action meets slow-burn enemies-to-lovers romance meets clumsy but culturally groundbreaking sociopolitical critique, boys kiss and commit arson and cry
great premise, high suspense, a little rushed and confusing at the end but still awesome and the side boys had me by the throat the whole time
legally available free, with eng sub, on youtube
ocean likes me [나와 같은 바다]
korean bl series, currently airing, shy udon chef and manic pixie dream musician open a seaside noodle shop together, started out really shaky but gets better with each episode, lively acting and sweet chemistry eclipses a frankly shitty script
half the couple is holland! the first openly gay idol in k-pop! which is a major win as he is an icon and a treasure! and the other half is han gi chan of where your eyes linger fame so it’s a win-win situation
legally available under a standard subscription, with eng sub, on viki
plus & minus [正負之間]
taiwanese bl series, currently airing, childhood-friends-to-lovers lawyer couple and strangers-to-coparents-and-also-lovers side couple and also i am holding out for lesbian bartenders. possibly my favorite series on air at the moment
seriously it’s so cute and funny and charming! it reminds me of history 4 but much much more wholesome and mature
legally available free, with eng sub, on gaga and on viki under the standard subscription
the pornographer [ ポルノグラファー ] series
japanese live-action yaoi series adapted from a manga by marukido maki, a study in artistic melancholy, these bitches gay and also sad and horny, rated nc-17 for a reason
consists, in order, of ‘the pornographer’ [6 eps], ‘mood indigo’ [6 eps], ‘spring life’ [short film], ‘playback’ [movie], and ‘spring life continued’ [short film]
legally available free, with eng sub, on viki [first three only]
semantic error [시맨틱 에러]
korean bl series, university-set, enemies-to-lovers romcom that is just all-around nice. short, sweet, great acting, convincing chemistry, engaging story, pretty pretty visuals, and a fun score. there’s a reason why everybody loves this one
adapted from a webnovel of the same name by jeo soo ri but from what i can tell the drama is better
legally available, with eng sub, on viki under the standard subscription
word of honor [山河令]
another gay chinese soap opera historical fantasy! also very long, also quite confusing, but underrated as hell and even gayer (despite censorship) than the untamed. look up lipreading videos on youtube
have not finished this one yet but i desperately need to. it’s just so long but i promise i will get to it
adapted from the webnovel faraway wanderers by priest
legally available free, with eng subs, on youtube and under the standard subscription on viki
to be updated as i get my shit together!

Man I just LOVED this week’s Amphibia episode, I rewatched it today and I just gotta share my thoughts on it
(thoughts under the cut)
-First, Sasha?? I love her new outfit! And also her role in Commander Anne, the fact that she tried giving control of the resistance to Anne even though she was handling her use of power way healthier than she used to bc of what happened w/ their friendship? Feels, all the feels
-and also at the end of the ep she calls it a partnership?? IT’S SO GOOD
-But also I can’t believe Anne lost her shoe... AGAIN! Why writers why? let her keep her shoes on ;-;
-I can’t believe they also referenced those mind control mushrooms, tho I gotta wonder how Andrias got those... still a nice little reference
-Speaking of references I teared up at the part where Sasha tells Anne that Marcy got captured and while it’s great that Anne knows her bestie is alive,,, they don’t know,,, they don’t know what happened to her and SOB-- why you do this to me???
-I like how in Sprivy, even tho Grime and Anne aren’t in the episode a whole lot they’re just vibing and I’m interpreting that as they’re buddies now and I LOVE it! (them interacting is just really cool to me)
-Also speaking of that WHO MADE THAT PINATA??? It was so funny tho, of course they’d make an Andrias pinata to beat up
-Also Ivy and Sprig,,, so cute and dramatic literally cannot be 5 mins apart and I’m just cackling at Sasha being all “uch... so dramatic” (methinks Sasha is not a fan of romcoms or soap operas XD)
-They were so cute in the ep and how at the end they were like “maybe we shouldn’t have our relationship dictate our life” and that’s a great message <3
-Sasha doing a lil’ cheerleader routine was also cute! I just loved Sasha in these eps she’s just so adorable in them and I want to give her a big ol’ hug aaaa
-”Delivery to Wartword delivery delay” got me crying THAT POOR MAIL FROG RIIIIIP
-Really hyped for next week’s eps!

Episode 4x04 Thoughts
Okay, dead brother? It's a *little* soap opera-y. HOWEVER, this could be balanced and well handled, so long as the writers, directors, and editors keep a firm grip on the tone. They were heading that way this episode with the amount of humor they infused in the telling of the secret, but by dragging it out the whole episode it got a little melodramatic.
I will say though, the Big Secret isn't *entirely* out of nowhere. We've known since Maddie was introduced that their home situation is... Unusual, and definitely lacking in support, which becomes all the more evident when the Buckley siblings go through crisis and near-death situations and there's just CRICKETS where the parents should be. (Like, yeah Eddie's parents overstep left, right, and center but at least they *showed up.*) The point being, yeah this is dramatic, but it’s not like TA-DA! DRAMA because it has a decent foundation in existing canon. So  even though there was zero clue or mention of a dead family member beforehand, the more than I think about it, the more I think there are enough building blocks to support it if everyone's careful.
Also, it’s not new for 9-1-1 to be this dramatic either. All the traumas that other characters have experienced, the way the writers handled them, the amount of drama and melodrama allowed? We’ve been here before. This is definitely one of the more dramatic arcs, but I think it can hold. 9-1-1 has walked this path before and we will walk it again! (We might sign for custody of the characters when we're done, but we're gonna see it through.)
Admittedly, I'm still too close to the new episode, it's too fresh in my head. As soon as I refine this shit down and it joins the rest of canon in my brain, I'll reassess.
Right now I'm gonna go rewatch because this episode had some GEMS!
Buckley siblings being there for each other, even though they're a little awkward at it, the love and good intentions and fear of screwing up and causing MORE pain was always the motivation.
The Han siblings trying their best to be there for the Buckley siblings. It was ADORABLE, and beautiful to see. Even if being there meant physically running away (I see you Albert helping your bro keep a secret! Also damn, you can sprint!!)
Chimney trying his HARDEST to keep the secret. Did he succeed? Not by most people's metric, there were A LOT of slip-ups, but none of us can claim we didn't see real effort there.
The entire firefam helping Chim keep Buck's secret. They knew it would take the *lightest* prompting for him to explode with it, but instead never asked and made sure he wouldn't tell. Extra shout out to Hen, who had it literally DANGLED in front of her and was like "Nope!" That shit is DIFFICULT to do
Eddie and Buck playing The Hardy Boys (y'know if the Hardy Boys flirted with each other while solving crimes.) That was hilarious, it's fun when Eddie gets off his Dad/Military-Man horse to screw around with Buck, and I'm pretty sure Buck's one of the few people who get that side out of him. It was funny and cute!
May being a total BADASS at the 9-1-1 center! Woman, you have EARNED your solo run and then some! Cool, calm and collected is our May and reaching out for assistance and counseling as needed. 100/100 for communication, my friend!
Bobby being there for May!! Loved that! His perspective on being a first responder sounds like it might be more helpful for her than Athena's, and that isn't shade on Athena. They just are different people, and I think her step-dad telling her it was okay to feel bad without also taking unearned blame. It helped her cope.
Shout-out to Michael. It takes a big man to step up and offer a solution. It takes a bigger man to admit--especially to his own child--that he might not have the solution. That moment of "this isn't really my field of expertise so I can't advise but I'm here and I love and support you anyway"? That is some delectable shit right there, three thumbs up.
Second shout-out to Chimney this episode! His handling of the bomber was f-ing brilliant on so many levels!! Getting Eddie out of harm's way. Talking the bomber down, distracting him, he de-escalated the situation single-handed and ALSO found an outlet to vent about Buck that wouldn't cause him harm. Genius! And HYSTERICAL.
Eddie's growth! He's past the hitting out his feelings phase, and he's reaching out to make sure Buck doesn't follow that path. Also, trying to make room for Buck to talk about what's bothering him? Standing back and giving him space when he didn't want to talk? He was there for him so good.
Shout-out to Buck for speaking his mind! Notice this: he swallowed so much shit against himself, but the thing that made him break the first time? Is when they were hurting his sister. His protective instincts are very strong, we see it in his job as well. But the second time he spoke out?? That was for himself. PEOPLE we got Buck sticking up for himself to the people he is DESPERATE for acceptance from and that is one of the most difficult things to do. Dare I call this the emerging of Buck 3.0? And I suspect we'll see more in the upcoming episode.
In conclusion, I think the 118 should be renamed Bobby Nash's Home for Kids with Shit Parents. We got Eddie, Chim, Buck. At this point can we just assume that Hen's parents are shit as well? And then there's Bobby, like he knows he's got step-kids, but does he realize just how many? He must, he cooks dinner for all of them every day... Right?
Next episode I'm looking forward to:
Good tone and pacing that steers clear of melodrama while still delivering tasty dramatic beautiful emotional moments.
The firefam proving to Buck that they love him, accept him, and have his back
Buck realizing he doesn't need his parents in order to feel whole. A continuing growth arc where he is able to acknowledge his feelings and ask for what he needs.
A good balance between the emergencies and the personal moments. After episode 1, the focus has HEAVILY been on the personal, leaving the emergencies to fit themselves in where they can. Obviously not expecting next episode to rebalance that scale, it's a Begins episode, but after that? Back to business.
This is a Buddie wish: continue to see these fun moments between them that we're seeing this whole season. All the banter. I REALLY hope Eddie and Chris get a chance to show up for Buck the way he's showed up for them so many times without undermining Buck's personal journey or ability to stand on his own two feet.
I REALLY hope Bobby gets a moment to be the dad Buck needs. That would be beautiful and so necessary for Buck. His heart is so big, he needs to know who he can trust with it.
I'm sorry 9-1-1 writers. Your job is thankless and my demands are MANY. But I still have high hopes for next week!
Whoever made it to the end of this, thank you. It was supposed to be like a paragraph, I swear, but... Well, here we are. I'll probably write more throughout the week as I process, too. I'd love to know your thoughts as well, hmu!

I'm back again. With more complaints
Why the hell is Virgil the main character? And don't try to tell me that he isn't. Every episode since AA has been about this purple bitch.
But like. The fandom saw, a teacher who strives for perfection, a half snake-half man with trust issues but sole purpose is to protect, a dad who wants the best for his children even if he's sacrificing his own health, and a pair of twins who were originally the same person but split in two.... And the emo is the main character?
I don't get it. I'll probably never get it.
I wouldn't have such a problem if other characters got to do things without Virgil being the star. Like, in dwit we got a whole new fucking character! Huge lore reveals surrounding Remus! But Virgil says that he was a "darkside" (something that Roman completely made up. So it shouldn't even be an issue here) and all that is shoved to the side?
Plus nothing even happened with it! Virgil showed up in athd, acted completely normal, and then left! With no mentioning of the past "revelation"!
Plus, like Virgil buddy... Why the fuck did you hiss at Janus when he came to get HIS shit after Roman stole it!! If that happened to Virgil the fandom would be having a soap opera.
Plus Virgil is a complete dick! "I'm going to prohibit your breathing" to Logan when he was doing his fucking job. And he's really rude to Patton almost every episode (I can go on another rant about my problems with patton...) even though patton was the first to accept him!
Everything Virgil does has zero consequences.
Not to mention the fandom's babying of him. Portray the characters how you want (hell, I personally view Janus as the youngest, shortest, and a fucking blond), but I have a huge problem with babying anxiety.
I have anxiety. I have an anxiety disorder. I have four fucking anxeity disorders. And when my anxiety is heightened its not "owo! I'm so anxious! I need a hug immediately and think that everyone hates me!" no. No it's "I can feel someone breathing down my neck, despite being home alone. My friends hate me, no one would even come to my funeral. What do you think your family thinks of you? Bet they say you're a disappointment."
And I personally find it really upsetting that something I struggle with daily is babied! Anxeity medication is demonized as something that would kill Virgil. Panic attacks are regularly viewed as something that only takes ten minutes out of your day and then you're fine. Where in reality, after a panic attack I sleep for 8 hours, am still tired when I wake up, and are mentally drained for the rest of the day.
Almost everything that the fandom represents anxeity as is wrong, incorrect, and harmful.
Plus Virgil's a dick.
A rant brought to you by someone who should be sleeping, is very angry at the babying of anxiety, and really wants a cookie
I love me some good Virgil criticism in the morning.
Honestly everything you said is something I've been thinking about for awhile. Especially with how anxiety is portrayed in the series. Yes, anxiety is different for everyone, and for a lot of people anxiety is (pardon my language) a bitch.
If I could choose to either manage my own anxiety better or be rid of it completely you can guarantee I would choose the latter in a heartbeat.
At this point I'm just gonna have to make a whole post on this topic because there is way too much to cover in a single response regarding the Virgil/Anxiety problem.

what are the gayest destiel episodes you can think of?
ohhhhh i gotchu hold on (this is basically gonna end up being a list of my fave destiel episodes lmaooo)
ok so just a heads-up, i don’t really remember much from s10 onwards (a lot of those episodes i haven’t actually watched since they aired whoops) and i’m currently stuck at the beginning of s9 on my complete rewatch soooo this list focuses only on the first half of the show. i might do an update if i ever manage to finish my rewatch (and remember to post an update at all when the time comes)
ok here we go:
4x16 - On the Head of a Pin
dean calls cas “cas” to his face for the very first time
dean is all “you can't ask me to do this, cas. not this.” (about torturing alastair) and uriel is all “who said anything about asking”, but cas is all: “this is too much to ask, i know. but we have to ask it” and that is the moment that dean realizes that cas cares about him and his feelings/well-being and that’s when he demands to speak to cas alone
and it’s only after cas tells dean he really doesn’t want dean being forced to do the torturing that Dean gives in (”i would give anything not to have you do this”)
like, it’s so obvious already how much cas cares about dean already and we’re only in s4
cas is even starting to go down the path of disobedience (with a little help from anna admittedly, but still. he’s starting to consider it)
they’re so?? comfortable?? with each other. when cas visits dean at the hospital in the end
4x22 - Lucifer Rising
dean literally makes an angel fall in this ep, i mean come on... (the way cas shows up behind him all “you asked to see me” after dean smashes the angel statue cracks me up every single time gsdlka)
dean desperately trying to get cas to help him (bc he knows that IF there’s an angel that would help him it’s cas)
cas is too afraid though and dean gets pissed and literally breaks up with him (D: "you spineless, soulless son of a bitch. what do you care about dying? you're already dead. we're done." C: "dean-" D: "we're done!")
this is the episode in which cas makes his decision and chooses dean over heaven
5x03 - Free to Be You and Me
in the previous episode sam and dean had a fight and split up. this episode starts out with dean being pissed and annoyed and just in a bad mood in general
when cas shows up and asks for help dean is very grumpy and doesn’t want to help at first but then reluctantly agrees
throughout the episode, the more time dean spends with cas the better his mood gets (honestly this point is worthy of its own separate post, i have enough screenshots lmao)
like he’s even smiling at the end of the ep when he’s talking to cas in the car!! (except then he looks over and realizes cas has left mid-conversation again and that smile is wiped right off his face and i’m sad :( )
when they’re in that brothel dean mostly has eyes for cas, even when chastity the hooker is standing right next to him
after the brothel incident when dean is cracking up and goes “it's been a long time since I've laughed that hard. it's been more than a long time. years.” like... buddy. your crush is showing.
and the way cas smiles lovingly at dean laughing next to him
dean be like: “personal space”     also dean: *reaches into cas’s coat without hesitation* *fixes cas’s shirt and tie without hesitation*
also the funniest thing about the whole “personal space” moment in the motel is that there was more than enough space for dean to step aside and increase the distance between him and cas if he had really been all that uncomfortable but he just. doesn’t. no he just stays right where he is
when raphael is trapped in the holy oil and threatens cas all “castiel, I'm warning you. do not leave me here. i will find you.” and cas goes “maybe one day. but today, you're my little bitch.” and walks away and dean tells raphael “what he said” like the impressed and proud boyfriend that he is
inside jokes (see here)
some more iconic quotes/moments from this episode:
“cas, we’ve talked about this. personal space”
“so, what, i'm thelma and you're louise and we're just going to hold hands and sail off this cliff together?”
“well. last night on earth. what are your plans?” “i just thought i'd sit here quietly.”
“let me tell you something. there are two things i know for certain. one, bert and ernie are gay. two, you are not gonna die a virgin. not on my watch.”
5x14 - My Bloody Valentine
hunter husbands!!
the way that dean is not in the mood for hook-ups on valentine’s day and then goes to stare at cas like That
that iconic phone call at the hospital where cas just appears in front of dean who nearly runs into him
cas be looking at sam while listing all the things people can be starving for, and then looks at dean before saying “love”
ok i know this doesn’t have that many points but really this entire ep is great, i very much enjoy all the interactions between cas and dean in this ep
like when dean is not hungry and cas is all “you're not gonna finish that?” and grabs the plate without waiting for an answer bc they’re this married in s5 already
6x20 - The Man Who Would Be King
i mean... this one is obvious isn’t it
this ep is literally all about how cas is doing everything for the winchesters aka dean
the way sam and bobby cautiously voice their suspicions of cas to dean has the same energy as carefully breaking it to a family member that you think their partner is cheating on them
and when they trap cas in the holy oil and confront him dean also acts like a betrayed wife(gn)
which is such a stark contrast to how sam and bobby react to the betrayal (they’re mostly just like “eh this sucks” while dean is emotionally affected)
and even in the following episodes dean is way more affected by cas’s betrayal than sam and bobby are and dean is the one who argues the most with cas (honestly, this entire arc is literally that post that’s all “how do i know dean is in love with cas? bc sam isn’t”)
ok but the holy oil scene is truly like a soap opera (i mean... “where were you when i needed to hear it?” “i was there. where were you?” and dean looking back at cas one last time before running away)
this is their first big break-up and it takes them until the s7 finale to make up
special shoutout to cas watching dean rake leaves
this ep is a LOT
7x17 - The Born-Again Identity
dean’s FACE when he sEES CAS. and then DEAN’S FACE AGAIN when “emmanuel” is all “what’s your issue?”
dean’s face all throughout that first scene with “emmanuel” and daphne, I’M
“you know, I used to be able to just shake this stuff off. you know, whatever it was. It might take me some time, but... i always could. what cas did... i just can't – i don't know why” BECAUSE YOU’RE IN LOVE WITH HIM, IDIOT
the way dean interrupts all irritated when meg goes “i think we're gonna be good friends too” at “emmanuel” (jealous bf much gsdlksafd)
the way dean kept the trenchcoat just in case so he can give it back to cas should he return (which ofc he did)!!!!
7x21 - Reading is Fundamental
yet another one of those “how do I know dean is in love with cas? bc sam isn’t”
at the beginning of the ep at some point sam’s phone rings and when he says that meg (who is watching over cas at the mental hospital) is calling, dean is quick to stand up and even tho meg called sam, dean is the one who ends up having the phone call with her lmao
also dean has no chill during that phone call lmao (he’s irritated when he finds out meg didn’t call them right then and there as soon as cas woke up and he’s immediately concerned when meg says cas is different, while sam’s just standing there holding his phone out to dean, being all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ lmao)
dean: *pissed af at cas*    also dean: *almost breaks his own neck at the speed with which he whips his head around at the mention of cas’s name and is desperate to know his location when cas calls meg after dean blasted him away with some other angels at the hospital*
ok no but then meg tells cas their location and cas zaps into the car and it’s hilarious how quick dean is to interrupt whenever cas turns his attention to meg in that scene
8x07 - A Little Slice of Kevin
dean seeing cas everywhere
when you see your best dudebro outside the window in the middle of a storm but when you get up he’s gone and you feel like crap because you could’ve made it out of the war zone together and you just cannot fathom why he didn’t try harder and you just don’t understand why you’re feeling what you’re feeling (and judging by dean’s reaction to sam’s suggestion, clearly it’s not survivor’s guilt)
dean’s FACE when cas suddenly appears behind him in the bathroom
jacting joices: the infamous boner scene (yet another example of “how do I know dean is in love with cas? bc sam isn’t”)
jacting joices pt 2: sam and dean are talking case and then cas walks over to join the conversation and there is literally no reason for dean to check cas out (see here)
during the rescue mission when cas zaps into the room and has a stand-off with crowley and then when dean finally manages to break into the room, can i just say... the way dean immediately rushes to cas (who’s ended up on the floor) and grabs him by the shoulder before he bothers to look around the room
D: “that was a bonehead move back there. you could have gotten yourself killed. why didn't you wait for me?” C: “well, i didn't get killed. and it worked” D: “and if it didn't?” C: “it would have been my problem.” D: “well, that's not the way i see it.”
the purgatory flashbacks when dean keeps insisting that cas is coming along with them back to earth and won’t hear otherwise
“i did everything I could to get you out – everything! i did not leave you.”  “so you think this was your fault?”
“look, I don't need to feel like hell for failing you, okay? for failing you like i've failed every other godforsaken thing that i care about! i don't need it!”
i know we hate buckleming but this episode, man. this episode
8x08 - Hunteri Heroici
i was gonna put this as a special shoutout but then it turned out that i had more to say about this ep than i initially thought
it’s the way dean and cas keep gravitating towards each other in the first half of the episode. no seriously, they somehow keep ending up beside each other and you start wondering “what’s personal space” (friendly reminder that this is the ep right after they’re finally back together again after purgatory)
the married energy and the bickering
the “talk to me” scene where cas finally opens up to dean (but then interrupting moose strikes)
at the retirement home dean to sam and cas: “no flirting you two” then CUT to: dean and cas sitting at a table with an elderly lady who is staring at cas with heart eyes and... lady: “you are so pretty, charles” dean: *must look at young nurse’s butt immediately to distract myself from gay thoughts*
i’m sorry but the way he smiles so widely at cas at one point when they’re talking to that lady, like, she’s just called cas a bounder and dean’s amused about that but his amusement is not in any way malicious and his face is just so full of love when he looks at Cas, it’s embarrassing really (see here)
9x06 - Heaven Can't Wait
ok so i haven’t watched this ep in like 5 years so my memories on this aren’t as fresh as with the previous eps but! it’s the way that cas and dean act exactly like exes (who are still in love with each other) in this ep
dean’s face as he’s staring at cas through the shop window
dean’s smile when he shows up inside the shop
the entire “i can’t let you do this cas” scene in the car
the infamous fanfiction gap
special shout out to:
5x18 - Point of No Return for all the bickering (“you know what? blow me, cas”) and especially  “well, cas, not for nothing, but the last person who looked at me like that… i got laid.”
6x10 - Caged Heat for the pizza man and dean’s reaction to all the megstiel (like jealous bf much?)
6x19 - Mommy Dearest for the strong married energy dean and cas give off in this ep (honestly, all their bickering, it’s glorious) (friendly reminder that this is right before tmwwbk)
7x23 - Survival of the Fittest for the “i’d rather have you cursed or not” scene
8x02 - What's Up, Tiger Mommy? for the purgatory flashbaks with that one monster calling cas dean’s angel and the reunion scene by the river with highlights such as “nice peach fuzz” and “i prayed to you cas, every night” and “i have a price on my head, and i've been trying to stay one step ahead of them, to – to keep them away from you” and “cas, we're getting out of here. we're going home” and “cas, buddy, i need you” and “let me bottom-line it for you. i'm not leaving here without you. understand?”
8x17 - Goodybe Stranger for “i don't know, dean. if he's so sketchy, then why were you praying to him?” and the entire crypt scene (yes this is a big one and yes i’m still only putting it as a special shoutout and yes it’s bc of the megstiel content this ep ok bye <3)
