well god had to give me sOMETHING--

i mean the short, boring answer is "lots of practice." the longer answer is more like, "weeelll..."

to be fair, 'seven minutes' is just the ballparked average. some pages obviously take longer, and some are way quicker. here's an actual full-length speedpaint video so you can kind of see what i'm doing a little better--

so it's not like i'm ACTUALLY spending seven minutes on each page... obviously, some of the more complicated pages take longer, and then others i can cheat a little. if a character is doing a similar pose that they've already done in a previous page, i can save a ton of time by either copy-pasting and editing it a little, or by re-tracing things i've already drawn. that brings the overall time down and alters the average. so that's part of it. also keep in mind that these are all just very loose sketches. 🤷🏻‍♂️

according to procreate, this piece (just the first, full-color one) took just under two hours.

I was gonan make a post apologizing for lack of regular art but I feel like jts already clear im sporadic and in and out of it bc chronic pain and circumstances. So for now I'm gonna hibernate, get my health steady again, deal with money issues, and art will happen when it happens.
