dad: ...it's really just another chore, you look in the mirror and go 'ugh I have to shave soon' so it's just one of those things you do every once in a while

me, externally: haha yeah, I can't wait :]

me, internally: he's talking about this like it's no big deal, it's not weird at all,,, he doesn't mind the idea of teaching me despite the fact that he never expected to be doing this with me,,,, he's my dad and he supports me even if he doesn't completely get it,,,

I have an appointment in September at a gender clinic thing to talk about starting hormone replacement therapy! the news got me so psyched that I promptly descended into a bout of hyperfocus and spent hours making this piece for a dorky lil countdown on my trans blog (@ftm-radio). I think it does a fairly good job of embodying the feelings I have about this development!

okidoke! last night I finally got around to doing something I've wanted to do for a very long time, which is make an icon for my trans/queer sideblog, @ftm-radio, featuring an oc/persona I've been tentatively designing off and on for almost a year now.

since my trans blog is named after a radio pun, I wanted to make an objecthead oc/sona with a radio for a head, so I did! well, here he's just a funky lil gay magic radio floating in space, but he is a proper objecthead sometimes, I promise! I'll draw him more eventually. I only just felt content with his design a few days ago. :]

listen, gang. i want to share something with you.

okay. when i realized i was trans and i made the decision to take up a new name, i did not research its actual linguistic meaning. i chose it because i wanted something simple, easy to pronounce, and undeniably masculine. something i could grow into as i started to take control of my body and how others perceive me.

how fucking beautiful is it, then, that my name means supplanter. one who succeeds someone else, who takes their place with intention and power. one who takes over the title, the responsibilities of another.

i’ve been going by this name publicly for over a year (and even longer among friends), and it’s finally become easy to answer to. i don’t know exactly what i’m trying to say here other than i really love that i chose something so powerful and fitting, even when i was so scared and uncertain.

The fact is that I relate to a lot of female characters, but i cannot use them as pfp because people would think I'm a girl, but i'm not, and it's awful because Nick Nelson makes me feel dysphoric because he is THAT cis boy that every trans boy wanna look like. So I hate him a lil bit. I prob talk too much abt some silly things.
