Wooooo I’ve made it to day 3 of Linktober! Today’s prompt is “miniature” so I sketched out a mini minish Link exploring the jungle….I mean the backyard.
dude zelda minish cap is literally so magical, its like a ghibli movie to me. sure tears of the kingdom has sprawling cg vistas or whatever BUT IN THE RAFTERS ABOVE THE BAKERY THE LITTLE GNOME PEOPLE HAVE OPENED A CAFE
this lil dude put a candle in a mug inside his home. this is like a fireplace to him. his tablecloth is a leaf. Are You Seeing This
you can shrink down and help an overworked shoemaker who fell asleep at his desk by fixing the shoes for him. look at this. you are smaller than his goddamn pinky finger
this guy LIVES inside a library book that he CARVED OUT!!!! u can see the freakin depth of the pages and how they overlap each other where he carved them. im crying. minish cap you will always be famous
So. When I bought this game it had a issue as some used games do. The game is incapable of saving. For three days I carried my DS around with me everywhere, school, home, (actually that’s pretty much the only two places I frequented…) everywhere. I kept a close eye on it. The second the light would turn red I’d drop everything to plug it in. I smashed my way through the game. Frantic. One wrong move, one accidental “start from save” rather than “continue” on the death screen, I’d loose all of my progress.
Deepwood Shrine, Cave of Flames, Fortress of Winds, Temple of Droplets, Dark Hyrule Castle. Did I do the side quests? I don’t remember. We’re my friends and family worried about my health? Probably. I wasn’t sleeping. I wasn’t doing my homework. Minish Cap was more important.
Fueled by a mad rage at the original owner for not disclosing how broken the game was, I blazed through in every free moment. At the final boss, I was so sleep deprived and manic, I think I did it in one go.
The credits rolled.
I shut off the power.
And felt true freedom.
Anyhoo, I love the toon zelda game style. Bold lines, distinct colors. Shows Link and Ezio (the hat hehe) in a battle pose and does a good job asking a question the audience would like to know via playing: Why does Link’s hat have a beak and eyes? If I were to have bought this in case I would have been attracted to the game for that. (I actually bought it because it was a Zelda game no other reason hehe).
I like the faded four leaf clover emblem in the background it’s nice. I like when game cases do that. Faint objects or maps as the backdrop to break up what could just be a character on a white background.
I'm definitely with the majority when our first thought for this prompt was Minish Cap. I redrew the official promo art but at a higher angle just to make Link look even smaller
