Little writing excerpt because Verin is *always on my mind*
Verin and Essek grew up in, essentially, a palace. As both cathedral and their government’s capitol, the Lucid Bastion was certainly a busy place to grow up. Alongside Den Thelyss, the members of Den Kryn and Den Mirimm also called it their home, so there was no shortage of people bustling around them.
What there was a shortage of, however, was other children. Most of the people around the brothers at any given time had already lived multiple lifetimes before this one. They simply could not relate to a pair of new souls.
It seemed to suit Essek just fine. He was content with talking to their tutors and Verin and that was about it. Verin, on the other hand, was a terror. He would slip out of their apartments and wander the massive halls, looking for people to bother. Few had the patience for him. Essek, the magical prodigy he was, learned the locate creature spell just to track down little Verin as he tore through the Bastion.
The two of them lived in one of several well appointed apartments that Den Thelyss keeps in the Bastion. They had a nanny to watch over them, tutors who visited during the day, and a large assortment of family members who lived around them. But at family gatherings, Essek took to the shadows and Verin was told to go play outside.
No one seemed to notice it, but little Verin needed attention. He needed playmates his own age and he needed a parent who would listen to his long soliloquies about the frogs he found outside and his imagined adventures and the monster illustrations in this book he was reading.
For the most part, it all fell on Essek. Their tutors would indulge him for a while, but they would inevitably turn the topic too soon for Verin’s taste. And so Essek—the introvert, the quiet reader, the studious one—was constantly subjected to, well, Verin. And Verin loved him. Oh, did he love his older brother.
Essek could levitate him in the air while reading a book; Essek could conjure pretty lights in all different shades; Essek could send a message straight into Verin’s mind! But Essek could not climb a tree, or make mud pies, or bake cakes with everything thrown in them.

The Devil on Your Shoulder
Happy BG3 day! If your Tav had a backstory like an Origin character's, what would it be? Mine would start the game with an existing deal with Raphael. More under the cut.
Fortune is a Glasya tiefling, and a promising painter from Lyrabar, Impiltur, who went rogue because of a guild buying her family’s painting shop out. Using her connections, she started to steal from the nobility, specializing in stealing priceless works of art.
Her downfall came when she fell for an elf who turned out to be one of Asmodeus’ bastards, his cambion son. Young and naïve, Fortune gets tricked into signing a contract with an imp pretending to be Asmodeus to free her object of infatuation from servitude. Asmodeus discovers the deception and punishes the imp with death, and he amends Fortune’s contract. In exchange for her and the cambion’s freedom, she must kill 5 good aligned adventurers in Asmodeus’ name. However, the cambion turns on her. Disheartened, Fortune lets herself be killed.
For failing her task, Fortune is sworn to be her contract holder’s indentured servant. A loophole in her contract brought about by the imp’s death makes it unclear who she belongs to due to the blanks in the chain of command.
Raphael catches wind of her predicament and orchestrates a convoluted legal maneuver to claim her for his own benefit. Slowly, he starts to fill the role of the cambion whom Fortune was infatuated with by becoming her sugar daddy, er, art patron. Raphael allows her to operate independently as both artist and rogue again in exchange for various services and favors from her, such as paintings of him, information about her noble patrons, and being his consort.
For her excellent service, Raphael grants her his infernal powers and makes her a warlock. He gifts her a paintbrush that also serves as her spellcasting focus, and forms a semi-permanent Gaze of Two Minds link between them so that he can watch the world through her senses at any given time.
Things get tricky when she gets kidnapped by a mindflayer ship in the middle of a heist. Though their connection remains faintly, the tadpole allows Fortune a taste of freedom, and hinders Raphael from surveilling her, muddling their psychic link.
Now she must decide if she should embrace the tadpole to free herself from Raphael, or stay true to her patron. One thing’s for certain, her feelings about him are ambivalent, and I’ll write fanfics about this.

Jason HC
Every time he kills, there's a physical pain in his chest he has to fight against. He absolutely loathes taking someone's life, but, to him, it's a necessary evil. He wakes up feeling the blood of the damned on his hands, and he knows he'll never be clean of that sin.
Despite being Catholic, he never begs God for forgiveness. He knows he's damning his own soul with each kill he commits. After he crawled himself from his grave, he got the message that God didn't want him. He doesn't know if Jason came back, a revenant, or a mangled version of his soul crammed together with the Lazarus Pit. This fact, on the nights that red and green are the only colors he sees, haunts him like he feels he haunts himself.
Part of Jason, a part he ruthlessly smothers silent, screams and begs Bruce to take the task of killing from him. He doesn't want to feel more crimson slip between his crooked fingers. Another part of him hates Bruce for condemning Jason to this existence by refusing to take up the role himself.
He knows Bruce will never forsake his morals in this way. He knows Bruce will never save Jason from his self-assigned responsibility. He hates his dad for it, but he understands why he won't.
Someone has to clean up Gotham even if that means forever dirtying themselves in the process.

Something i think is really interesting about GenLoss is that we got missing/found posters for Sneeg and Charlie
However in the game the binary for Charlie the Villain whereas with Sneeg is the Friend(? Or smth similar, a /pos connotation)
So i think theres some sort of brainwashing and mindfuckery going on, and Charlie is now under Showfall Medias thumb, and Sneeg is still resisting it or they havent fully gotten him yet.
And then theres Jerma, who in his trailer release bit sounds a bit ominous and is offputting by saying something vaguely threatening, but unlike Sneeg, Charlie, and Ranboo has not had a missing poster. Thus i don’t think he’s really under Showfall Media, along with the fact that in the game the character we can assume is Jerma (since its also assumed that you play as Ran) the binary translates to the Savior.
Theres also the possibility that this is a red herring and that Showfall Media is trying to trick us into believing that Charlie is the villain (hence the binary) and Jerma the Savior when in reality it’s the other way around.

Mu Qing, someone who has been steamrolling his deepest emotions for nearly a millennia, tormented by a class system in which he has been labeled as fundamentally untrustworthy, someone whose every mildly positive intention has been twisted into malevolence due to his personality, and whose literal actual name means ‘one who yearns for affection’: alright let’s help dianxia in disguise, what’s one more mask to wear, what’s one more attempted good deed that will ultimately blow up in my face
Xie Lian, a prince of an extremely extravagant and ludicrously wealthy kingdom, who didn’t recognize Mu Qing as a deity (or even a person lmao) and not a servant: *legit takes every opportunity to throw shade at Mu Qing and badmouth him to his face, and then later reveals he ‘knew’ Fu Yao was Mu Qing all along* yeah duh of course I knew it was him, his name is ‘one who rises above their station’, plus we grew up together lmao of COURSE I’d recognize him (:

When they meet him outside their eyes immediately go to Mairon.
Caleb murmurs to Essek, “You didn’t tell me the demon looks like that.”
Mairon’s ears twitch in amusement as Essek scowls at him.
Verin awkwardly clears his throat. “Mairon, this is Essek and Caleb.”
The Savior of the Damned
Chapter 5: A Father’s Echo
In which Verin faces his past, present, and future; Mairon learns what a donut is; and Essek and Caleb join the party.
It wasn’t until Verin showed he was adept with a blade that his father took an interest in him.
Essek and their father had never truly gotten along. They clashed over their different interests: Essek was concerned with magic and books and their father wasn’t interested in delving into the mysteries of the universe, or whatever it was Essek said he was doing.
Verin, meanwhile, took an interest in everything. Essek taught him rudimentary spells, and he delighted in working them, but he found the studious part of wizardry couldn’t hold his attention. That frustrated Essek to no end, so he eventually gave up on teaching Verin, saying, When you are ready to put in the work and research, we can continue your studies.
This, in turn, frustrated Verin. He watched his older brother bend space and time and do marvelous things, all while he shirked his own studies and couldn’t seem to make it through a single textbook.
Just sit still and read it, his tutors, his parents, his brother would say. But Verin would rather learn hands on: exploring the underground caverns, looking for glowing mushrooms and cave-blind fish; shadowing Rosohna’s finest metalsmiths, burning his fingers when he tried it himself; and asking everyone he could find questions about their past lives.
Then they put a sword in his still small hands and he bested Essek and the few other noble children in one-on-ones, easily. Finally, it seemed, he was being praised for something. So he took to it eagerly. It was never boring: there was always a new weapon, or stance, or method to learn. He’d eagerly show off, swinging his blades around with perhaps too much enthusiasm.
And, best of all, his father wanted to hear how his training was coming along. As he grew older, the two of them traded blows in the practice yards and Verin turned to the attention like a sunflower to the sun. It was decided: Verin would be an echo knight like his father.
