I might have controversial opinions on the "Faerghus Four." Mostly that it doesn't exist, and at worst, it exists to exclude Dedue.
Yes, Dimitri, Ingrid, Sylvain, and Felix grew up together, but that was as children. While that history is significant to their relationships, it ignores everything after. With the tragedy of Duscur, Dimitri and Dedue became inseparable while Felix was sickened by them, Ingrid couldn't overlook Dedue's connection to the tragedy, and Sylvain's apathy grew.
Past the age of ~15, you can't ignore how Dedue and the tragedy affects their relationships. I don't see just the four of them as a friend group, especially not without him because he's so important to Dimitri and the themes of Faerghus.

imagining the story from pei ming's perspective is rlly funny i think. this god from all that time ago ascends again (you were there for the first two times) and immediately waltzes into a situation that fucks something up for your descendant (putting both of your reputations on the line, messing up how hard your descendant worked to become a god and how hard you worked to ensure that he would have that chance) and then refuses to let you smooth the situation out and on TOP of that your friend's little sister (who hates you and who you are trying to look out for by request of your friend) is on your case about it too. so you've gotta work all that out and then like. you chill for a little bit (still kind of upset about your descendant) until your friend undergoes a heavenly calamity. and then in the space of like A Day the god from earlier shows up again with a fucking ghost king, your friend dies, the little sister you're supposed to be looking out for disappears, and everything just kinda goes to shit. so you're like. grieving. trying to process everything. until your OTHER close friend goes off the fucking rails with the spirit of that guy she murdered, and then you get called out to the spooky ghost mountain where you're confronted with the girl whose death YOU were essentially responsible for and have never really come to terms with, and then like. you just kind of hang out with these gay people until everything resolves itself. fight some ghosts. fight the heavenly emperor. get your friend to stop being evil for a little while so she can fix the filing systems. and then you just have to keep being the god of love i guess

god i'm thinking about how "the stolen chariot" takes place post-"titan's curse" and how that's a turning point for percy and clarisse's relationship, and how clarisse probably saw straight through percy's facade and saw exactly how he was treated during that time at camp and how sad and lonely he probably was because grover was tripping over himself around the hunters and chiron was so focused on thalia and annabeth was gone
and that leads me into thinking about the head counselors again and how maybe, in their own ways, they gave percy little things to show their support. moments of help, little gifts.
silena sitting in the pegasus stables with percy, holding onto his arm and being a big sister presence to him. not talking, just being there for him, giving him some semblence of stability
beckendorf dragging percy off to test new weapons he made in the arena, turning it into a game that had a smile spreading over percy's face for the first time in days
travis and connor sneaking coke and candy into camp for their honorary brother, leaving it in the poseidon cabin with little cards that had the corniest jokes written on them
clarisse spars with percy more, pulling him to the arena when she sees the stormy look in his eyes, when he can't think about anything else but how frustrated he is
lee pulls percy into the medical tent to test his healing abilities with water, because it's been an obsession for the apollo cabin since percy arrived, and he can't help but make percy laugh with his eagerness
castor and pollux convince their father to let up on percy, just a little bit, to let him have a looser curfew, letting him sit out by the lake for as long as he needs, sometimes sitting with him in the quiet
katie leaving little plants in the poseidon cabin, little succulents and flowers that are easy to care for, something small that makes percy's eyes light up every time he gets a new one, and he lines the windows of the cabin with them
malcolm, bless him, is so aware of his sister and percy's crushes on each other, and takes it upon himself to make sure that his sister's best friend doesn't waste away, and he's the one who makes sure percy eats and sleeps and stays healthy.
and clarisse will deny it until the day she dies, but percy knows that she's the one setting everything up. it was her suggestion, though the other counselors know they'll get fried if they say anything.
and he doesn't say anything, not until after "the stolen chariot", when he and clarisse are sitting down for a burger, and he brings it up quietly. and clarisse just huffs and rolls her eyes, and percy's heart warms so much at the fact that, despite the winter being the worst one of his life, he was surrounded by people who loved him and supported him.
(annabeth definitely gives hugs to all the head counselors when malcolm tells her, because they kept her seaweed brain going)

oh cool i can make myself sad again. the pandorica finale with all of them as kids, little rory in his roman soldier get-up, little amy trapped inside a box, both of them about to spend 2000 years waiting to be reunited. and then. and then there’s little mels. angry little mels who has watched both her friends (parents) die in front of her, and who screams at the doctor to let her stay! she wants to stay! she needs to stay! but mels isn’t made of plastic. mels won’t fit inside the pandorica next to amy. she can’t stay. and the doctor grabs her. she’s stronger than she looks, nearly throws him off, surprises him but he’s fast enough to send them spiraling into the future together to find amy and rory where they left them. little mels with tears in her eyes as she shoves the doctor’s hands off of her, and when he says sorry, he means it but it comes out sharp with fear for the danger he’s put them all in. and all mels can think is, I will kill you for this one day. I will kill you for not letting me stay with them. And that burns in her like a tardis mid-explosion, will burn her right up if she’s trapped inside it.
(and river is there, too. river is there, and how do you comfort yourself when you know there’s nothing you would have listened to. maybe the best she can do is tell the doctor off, but they don’t have time. there’s stars to be reborn, and when she looks at mels, she feels so much smaller than she has in decades.
but she remembers exactly what it felt like to hug amy and rory one last time at the beginning of the universe.)

I won’t get over Sand’s annoyed look at Nick and Nick mouthing ‘sorry!’ to him about accidentally letting Ray know where they were and Ray’s random ass ‘goodnight Nick’ and Nick’s awkward ‘goodnight’ in return. Seriously, that whole night was a perfect scene. From the kiss that ended in giggles and cuddles, to Ray just barging in and like: threesome? No? Okay, well I’m tired, scoot over.
Seriously, 10/10 comedy gold, love it, chef’s kiss.

naruto as a whole is a fucking mess and i say thisas somebody whos read the entireseries 3 times over. “naruto is going to change the system! haha teehee never mind hes not doing anytning about the child soldiers and slave castes and the genocides.” “sasuke can be upset at his brother for committing a genocide but actually genocide against an oppressed bloodline is good if theyre getting uppity and its sanctioned by the government and also have a genetic predisposition to be evil so he should just get over it and be okay with it” “sakura needs to stop obsessing over a guy whos not even interested and become strong for her own sake. actually shes a housewife now”
kishimoto im going to blow you up with my mind
YOU GET IT
For real though I think what they did with Sasuke's arc was one of the most baffling fucking things I've ever seen. "Actually. Your brother who carried out a genocide loved you :( he only put you in the Torment Nexus for several days because uhhh he wanted you to hate him and not find out about the government who ordered it. Everything he ever did was actually to protect you. And Uchihas are actually kinda rotten anyway so it's good an entire GROUP OF PEOPLE died. Don't think about any babies or children who were also slaughtered btw uhh nope all of them were bad."
Sasuke: "Yes I understand. I will now rule the world through fear. Actually nvm Naruto won our fight so, my philosophy is gone now."
Thank goodness that Evil Sasuke killed the three Bad Government Officials before that point, though. We had this whole theme going about toxic structures, cycles of abuse, and how oppressive regimes can propagate themselves even when a leader is well-meaning... but, like, Naruto REALLY wants to be Hokage, so actually if you just kill these Three Bad Governors it's gonna be fine.
There is no need for systemic change. Slave castes and child soldiers are fine. It's ok as long as the president is blonde :)

(@glorf1ndel said she wanted to know more about my guys in the tags of my last art (thank you!) so i took the excuse to clean this up a little and slap some colors on it!!)
They're my wizard Finnelyn Roselorre's favorites in the Rose Court, and they're very typical of the archetypes for that role! They're both from lesser nobility, but Erytha's family has very close ties to the Roselorres and Alkion's has um. The opposite. (bad ties) (would happily resort to armed combat if the emperor allowed infighting between his lords ties)
Erytha's a little spoiled and self-serving and Alkion's priority is playing the social game, but they're the closest things to friends that the three of them have. They're gossip buddies, you know. They like to stand around and judge people.
