after being on the hellscape that is Twitter and reading hot take after hot take now I literally want to write an miniature essay about HoTD and character resemblance to Greek mythology figures and how Helaena being a dreamer in the show is—while not from the source material and an ability that could have reasonably been given to another character—an intentional detail meant to both further flesh out the Greens AND illustrate their incompetence as a family unit + their ideologically conservative ties that mimic right-wing propaganda. In this essay I will—

This post is uh, extremely normal I swear
So hello yes I am absolutely On My Bullshit regarding my new favourite game.
That’s right, it’s the cannibal incest game, The Coffin of Andy and Leyley. And I’m here to shove five thousand words of pretentious analysis down your throat because, and I do not exaggerate, I think it is one of, if not the best written game I have ever played. And I have played a lot of games, including Baldur’s Gate 3, Final Fantasy XIV and Undertale, to name a few narrative luminaries to come to mind.
That wordcount is not an exaggeration. My brainworms are extremely powerful and now you can share them with me as I walk you through my insane skyscraper of inference-driven analysis.
Or you can click away. I really wouldn’t blame you, it’s quite a lot.
Content Warnings: …Yes?
(To drop the bit for a moment, The Coffin of Andy and Leyley covers extremely disturbing material and challenges you to examine aspects of living in this world that many have taken for granted all their life, it is not a comfortable game, this will cover similar topics and will often echo the game’s unremitting scepticism on basic principles of society and humanity and you should look after yourself first. My Content Warning is framed as a joke, but it’s also quite real in that the game is designed to make you uncomfortable and there’s no shame in that not being for you.)
This was originally posted on and formatted for Sufficient Velocity, and you can probably more easily read and discuss it with me here.
With that said, let’s dig in. I have had to split this into multiple posts because tumblr will only allow so many images. There will be spoilers for all endings.
Tumblr media
She’s excited, are you?
It’s All About Ashley
It really is, isn’t it? I mean, for approximately eighty percent of the total game as currently released and the entirety of Episode 1, you’re in control of Ashley, just as she’s in control of her and Andrew’s relationship for 80% of the game, up until the various ending sequences where it begins to slip. The only other characters who really matter at all in and of themselves are Andrew and her mother — and the former is under her thumb, and she eats the latter. It’s all about Ashley. Even her obsession with Andrew is, ultimately, about Ashley.
But who is Ashley? What is Ashley? Why is Ashley, even? Let’s take a look.
Ashley as presented to us in Episode 1 is very straightforward, so let’s list off the traits we’re given — she is malicious, she is fearless, she lacks empathy, she doesn’t have anything resembling a conscience, she demands Andrew belong to her and her alone, she has him at her beck and call.
In Episode 2, we’re ostensibly shown how she has him at her beck and call— she leverages the threat of reporting Nina’s death over him and had him swear to be with her forever. We’re shown that even as a child she was “just, like that” — but as a child, she hadn’t learnt to live with it yet, to laugh at the farce of it all.
Tumblr media
Yeah, exactly like that!
And she does this throughout Episode 1 — The Coffin of Andy and Leyley is a remarkably silly game much of the time, finding moments of absurdity and levity against a backdrop blacker than pitch — and most of the time, your internal narration is coming from Ashley and the jokes will not-infrequently come at her own expense.
Tumblr media
She will later get negged by her human sacrifice for her poor ritual circle drawing
Her reaction to being told that her soul is as dark and viscous as tar is “You guess you already knew that” — it’s confirmation to her, not new information. Ashley knows who she is. But who taught her this? There’s layers to this, nothing in this game is as simple and straightforward as it appears at first sight, which is why I’ve been obsessing over it for days.
While it’s common in fiction, the truth of the matter is, most ‘bad people’ really do think they’re good people. But Ashley has never once thought of herself as a good person — or perhaps better put as a person worthy of love — as we learn across Episodes 1 & 2, with our flashbacks to Andy and Leyley and the VERY VERY QUIET!!!
Tumblr media
I really wish I had space in this essay to talk about this, but I’d like to touch on these being traits usually more easily forgiven in young boys than young girls at some point.
Tumblr media
If she removes all other options, only then can she expect him to like her.
This is something that is echoed in the modern day — her seeming self-assurance is easily shaken and she reaches out to the world — usually Andrew — to affirm and validate her, soothing her insecurities, using any tool she deems necessary. Even when her life is on the line when Andrew has her by the throat at the climax of Episode 1, the only ‘compelling reason’ she can give Andrew to not kill her is her ability to soothe his nightmares. When he tells her there are sleeping pills for that…
Tumblr media
Most people would have a bit more to argue for their existence.
While she, unlike Andrew, acknowledges having had friends before the quarantine… you know she’s got a point that they didn’t even bother to answer her calls, that was clearly not something the state was interfering with given Andrew’s calls with his mother and his girlfriend, and given her general demeanour it’s not hard to imagine that… they weren’t ever very close. When we see her and Nina talk in the infamous ‘box scene’, it’s clear that Nina doesn’t like her very much, despite Andrew’s assessment of Nina as being one of Ashley’s friends.
We see further support for her general lack of companionship in her dream sequence in the Burial route — Leyley and Leyley Alone. No matter what you do, you can’t place the pink plushy at the family table, the flowers won’t bloom if you give the Julia and Nina plushies her own as a companion instead of Andrew’s — and if you’re bold enough to go for the ‘incest route’, in the ‘Love’ room you see that no one ever looks happy to be with her in the childlike depictions of her history, nor is she happy in turn, save for when she’s with Andrew. In a bit of heavy-handed metaphor, the player then overwrites all of these tense, upset, hard moments with Andrew, having him fill in for everyone else in life — and happy with her.
Tumblr media
Once Upon A Lousy Life…
Tumblr media
THE END
And that’s why she needs him to affirm her, because no one else ever has and no one else ever will. It’s even included in their comic beats — when the siblings are getting along well, they’ll often play a game where Andrew dramatically overpraises Ashley while she demands more; it’s a comedic bit but I mean — it really does matter to her!
Tumblr media
For the record, she opened a door. She gets a little heart in a speech bubble after this exchange.
We have a great example of this dynamic, that of insecurity and affirmation, in Episode 1, after Andrew has killed for her, butchered for her, his girlfriend broke up with her, he’s seemingly thrown his entire life away for her… she’s still insecure over her relationship with him, she’s uncertain of her control and she needs him to reaffirm it for her.
Tumblr media
This is her victory, surely?
Tumblr media
Andrew affirms her once, with his usual dead-eyed look.
Tumblr media
But she's still not so sure.
Tumblr media
He actively reaches out to affirm her again with cheer.
Tumblr media
Look how happy she is!
While it’s most obvious and clear cut here, it’s hardly the only case. Let’s look back to the aftermath of Andy and Leyley and the VERY VERY QUIET!!! (I’m not using the other name). Leyley is, after similarly extreme acts — he murdered a girl and hid her body for her — convinced Andy doesn’t like her and she needs this leverage to keep him around, to meet her basic needs for survival. Because that’s what this is — she receives no care of affection elsewhere, so she forces it out of the only source she sees available through the means she sees as necessary.
Tumblr media
I really hope we see some of their earlier childhood in Episode 3
Tumblr media
What exactly made her like this? Was it just neglect, or something more specific…
Tumblr media
She needs this to be the case because otherwise she doesn’t believe he’d stay.
This pattern repeats throughout — Ashley’s insecurities are hit on and she reaches out to Andy to affirm that she is not alone, and she will use any and every tool to exploit her ostensible control over him and force him to be what she needs him to be — and as long as she has that, as long as she is everything to him and it’s not possible for him to leave, she’s happy. As long as she thinks he loves her in her very particular, very peculiar view of love, she’s content, come what may. As long as Andy and Leyley are together, they can take on the world.
Let’s talk about that view of love, because there’s always more layers to unpack here I’m only scratching the surface with this essay — Ashley consistently refers to anyone else Andrew may have befriended or spent time with as a whore, a slut, a bitch — highly gendered insults that bring to mind the idea that he’s cheating in some way. But it’s not even about sex — when Andrew mentions that their parents had friends, she accuses them of cheating on each other in the same way!
Tumblr media
There’s a lot to unpack about Ashley’s view of femininity and the role the patriarchy plays in their relationship.
Any kind of emotional engagement, any kind of commitment, any kind of life outside of your significant other is, to Ashley, cheating. Because that’s what she needs from Andrew, a seeming complete and total commitment, secure in her place as the only thing in his life, because she cannot understand anyone picking her if they have a choice.
This insecurity she has in her relationship is what drives her to empower the trinket — he can’t leave her as long as she can protect him with prophetic dreams, after all. She needs every kind of leverage she can get because until she succeeds in being everything to him, in devouring him so completely she has him in her thrall mind, body and soul she can’t be sure of herself — hell, her dream sequence in Burial has you placing Andrew’s signature green plushy, ‘the best thing in the world’ in a cage far away from anything else.
Ultimately, it really is all about Ashley — even her seeming obsession with Andrew ultimately comes back to her own insecurities. If she is everything to ‘the best thing in the world’, some of that ‘best’ must surely reflect on her!
But that’s enough about the more normal, straightforward and understandable sibling.
That was not a joke.
Andrew’s Rank 100 Deception
The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world that he did not exist.
Let me explain.
You might have noticed that in the previous section I often use language such as ‘ostensibly’ or ‘seemingly’ to describe Andy and Leyley’s relationship, and there’s a good reason for that. From the beginning of the game through to its end, Andrew is lying to you, the player, without ever falsely representing or misinforming you about events that occurred.
The common, or obvious ‘initial take’ on Andrew as presented in Episode 1 is fairly straightforward. The game primes you to think this way, it frames things and strings reveals just right so as to make it very easy to overlook the incongruities it introduces in Episode 2. He’s a victim. Plain and simple, Ashley is his abuser and he is her victim and would be fine, a normal albeit kinda depressed guy without her.
Tumblr media
It really is not a difficult conclusion to draw
You can go all the way through the game, have him try to accept his mother’s olive branch and enter the Decay route as a method for him to finally actualise his desire to get out from Ashley’s thumb and it makes sense, it’s a reasonable way for the story to go, given his character.
You see him this way because the game primes you in Episode 1 to view their relationship like Andrew does — he’s lying. He’s lying to himself, he’s lying to Ashley and he’s so good at it — Deception Rank 100 — he even lies to you. Without misrepresenting a single event or otherwise misleading you directly, the game gets you to buy into his preferred self-perception. Nina? Ashley. Julia? Ashley. The murders they commit in the course of the game? Ashley, Ashley, Ashley, it’s not his fault he’s not to blame he’s just a doormat at the beck and call of his demonic sister.
But he wants to be there. From the very outset, the very first puzzle, that’s made clear. Does anyone else remember this exchange, from right at the beginning of the game?
Tumblr media
Ashley wants to investigate the music!
Tumblr media
Andrew disapproves…
Tumblr media
…Or does he?!
Like. Listen. Okay. You do not frown when saying ‘Nope’ and then smile when saying that you’ll instead tag along if they do it if your heart is at all in the no. That’s not an objection, that’s using Ashley as his excuse. Especially if you immediately throw her the balcony key that she could not possibly have gotten from you by force (more on Andrew’s ability to use force later).
This is the very first time you control both characters together with Andrew following Ashley instead of off on his own, the first adventure, the first puzzle!
But put a pin in that for now, let’s talk about his initial framing in Episode 2 first. Episode 1 has set us up to, generally speaking, believe the superficial framing of the siblings as portrayed in its promotional art:
Tumblr media
The question that we then ask, right at the heart of it is… why is he a doormat? We explore this in his dream sequence in Episode 2, which does make it clear that the boy’s not okay but— it’s real easy, given the priming from Episode 1 to make you think that he’s the one with the originally functional moral compass, to think that that him being fucked up is damage done to him by Nina’s death and being bound to Ashley for his entire life. She corrupted him.
But, well, is that the case?
Tumblr media
You're primed to ignore this as manipulation (which it is) but the best manipulation has some truth to it.
Precisely two things spur Andrew to action in the entire game, consistently — they are the fear of consequences and Ashley. And the first incident of that fear, the very first time we’re shown his seeming moral compass as a kid — the first time it’s really hammered home that it’s a fear of consequences rather than any true moral qualms is after Nina’s death. And why does he fear consequences here?
Tumblr media
……
The ‘natural’ read that many take away from this sequence, particularly those who have only played Decay, is that Ashley browbeat him into doing this against his will, using emotional blackmail to overwhelm his objections, and then used the event itself to bind him to her forever as her personal doormat.
In a strict sense, this is true. But this doesn’t match up with the details, something the game uses shock to encourage you to overlook. That outburst is before any kind of threat has been made, and absolutely nothing either of them say anything about it being morally bad until Ashley weaponises ‘you’re a bad person’ against Andrew — morality didn’t seem to enter his mind or the equation at all until Ashley brought it up. More than that, his greatest fear and driving motivation even prior to that is, as shown above, being taken away from Ashley.
She, of course, recognises this and uses it against him. But she never needed to, it didn’t change anything about Andrew’s attachment to her, it was there to address her own insecurities.
Tumblr media
Just like to touch on how a lot of his affirmations are preceded by him confirming her insecurities.
Tumblr media
I adore this phrasing
There’s a second prong to this as well, to the question of ‘who really calls the shots here’ because — Andrew can, at any stage, apply an ‘ultimate veto’ of physical violence. The game is very clear to the player that that is on the table — even when they were children, when Andy swears their blood oath, he briefly considers killing her — and take note of how he ultimately got a ‘winning’ condition out of her by not specifying there wouldn’t be others and she is forced to accept that, there. Even outside of their most serious confrontations, Ashley is portrayed as having to convince, manipulate or otherwise coerce Andrew into going along with her schemes — she really can’t make him do anything, she doesn’t have the supremacy in violence and, to a lesser extent, capability that would allow her to.
Tumblr media
Andrew, you are like ten years old.
The truth of the matter is, Ashley can only make Andrew do anything because he lets her. I don’t mean in the sense that I’m saying abuse victims let their abusers emotionally abuse them, I mean in the sense that he is clearly considering his options on the table and choosing to discard those that could stop her, or bring an end to any of this. He needs her.
But it’s true that he hates her, too. He has to hate her, because if he doesn’t hate her, if he isn’t forced to have done this, that means… he’s responsible. And nothing, at the start of the story, is as important to Andrew as avoiding the consequences of his own actions, not even Ashley. By the midpoint, he loves her, he hates her, he can’t live without her, he wants to kill her — by the end… well, that depends if you’re on Decay or Burial, but more on that in a bit.
A great scene to study for this dynamic is the climax of Episode 1, when Andrew grabs Ashley by the throat and considers strangling her to death. She’s pushed him too far with hurtful words and assault, and he’s seemingly had enough.
Tumblr media
It’s still framed as a question of risk, of consequences happening to him.
Tumblr media
Like, this is not the usual behaviour of someone who’s been pushed past their breaking point.
He tells Ashley that he wants to kill her, because she’s just going to throw another fit and that’s a risk to him. She is… not framed as being able to fight back (she does have a gun here, and more on that in a later essay, maybe). He’s so calculated in how he approaches his use of violence here, which isn’t at all what you’d expect of someone about to commit a crime of passion… but it’s very easy to overlook because of the abuser/victim narrative that the player fits his behaviour into the narrative that the game primes them to accept, brushing incongruities under the carpet.
At the start of Episode 2, we get to control Andrew for the first time, and the first obvious holes in his cover start to show. Some of this is optional — you only learn that he’s been faking having nightmares in order to share a bed with Ashley if you choose to go back into the motel room and check the bed, for example — but not all of it.

It’s hilarious how Vaggie made herself a ‘sinner’.
How that linked her up with Charlie is such a weird, round about truthful way, even when she was lying by omission about it.
And how amazingly dumb it all makes Adam and Lute look.
Thousands of helpless souls killed by her, but she didn’t do anything ‘wrong’ until she wondered if what she was doing was right. The divine powers in her life only took her wings and condemned her to hell after she doubted their orders, their idea of justice, and quietly chose not to completely follow them.
“You fucked up” they tell her “your mistake” she “left the band” “tried for a solo career". It’s so pathetic. They're so butthurt over the idea of one of their own having a mind of her own.
It’s also so funny, because they spin her simple act of whispering “Go, run. Now!” to demon kid she’d been holding at spear point like it was big defiant move- which makes it into one- even though she never challenged them openly, or threatened them.
Hell, Lute’s “You always were weak” plus exorcist Vaggie always frowning while her murder sisters all grin with glee as they kill sinners- it paints a picture of Vaggie never having been as into exterminations as she ‘should’ have been. Too weak to be a proper exorcist no matter how good at killing she was, not just “the traitor” but also “the failure”.
And she was scared of that. She didn’t want anyone seeing her spare that child, whispered her words to them in a back alley, out of sight.
She was scared of what would happen and didn’t even fight it when Lute took her eye and wings- she was scared and no threat in any tangible way, but apparently refusing to do one single murder is enough to freak Adam and Lute the fuck out.
One woman. Doesn’t do exactly what she’s told. After who knows how many decades of being one of the “top girls” at murder, a “bad bitch” named after “the best thing ever”, and they still get spooked by that tiny moment when she wasn’t under their total control. Like it's such a betrayal to them, her daring to so much as think this level of violence isn’t justified actually, and for a split second act on that thought.
It’s an instant ticket to ousting her from the exorcists AND from heaven, while they fly the fuck off again.
“If angels can do whatever, and remain in the sky-”
and they do. After doing that to one of their own. They did that, to someone who was supposedly meant to be in heaven. They didn’t wait for divine justice- took it, and her eye, and her wings, and her halo, into their own hands and tore them away from her. Then happily, they spend the next three years up in heaven, slurping smoothies and doing more murder sprees.
until Vaggie comes strolling back with the princess of hell, there supporting her girlfriend and the idea that all the shit she did for so long really was and IS wrong.
oh and Adam and Lute are pisssssssed about it. They take her being there PERSONALLY, wanna solve it with VIOLENCE
She hurts them without even trying. Without even noticing they're there.
They're told to fix the princess of hell situation and they have no concept of forgiveness, of caring about sinners, so they guess (rightly) that Vaggie hasn't told Charlie about her past and bet (wrongly) that Charlie would never forgive her if she knew, and also assumed (rightly) that Vaggie would be terrified of that
But they don't get that she's scared of hurting Charlie. Of Charlie being hurt by her. It's a selfless thing. That's her whole PROBLEM.
Her running to hold Charlie after the reveal- her NOT breaking down when Charlie takes alone time in the aftermath, respecting that right up until she thinks Charlie's actively in danger- afraid FOR Charlie when the deal with Alastor is made, no crumbling that Charlie went to someone else for help, when being helpful to Charlie is basically her raison d'étre- agreeing to go alone to an overlord, after learning she can DIE and THIS OVERLORD knows how to do it- all this for the sake of Charlie's dream, their shared goal, their hotel. Their friends, resigned to despair in the hotel lobby, losing hope and maybe hours away from losing their lives
No shit she was never going to bow down to the blackmail?? It'd be like turning herself inside out. Charlie isn't just some "little hottie" or whatever, they're partners. They're in this together. Even when Charlie out loud doubts if that's true, it still is.
Lute and Adam don't GET what it means, that Charlie assumed Vaggie was a sinner already. That the thing she'd be hurt about was the lying, not the murder. She was scared of not really being loved by Vaggie- of everything else wonderful between them being a lie too, all that support and faith empty empty- she wasn't afraid of loving Vaggie, whoever Vaggie had been, she was afraid of who Vaggie might be now and that she'd never really believed in Charlie at all.
Charlie was angry at the thought that Vaggie didn't think she would've accepted her. The idea of not really being understood or trusted by Vaggie, that's what hurt.
And it goes against everything Lute and Adam are, Charlie actually caring about sinners while knowing what they've done- about an exorcist after finding out who they'd been- really trusting that people can change. Lute and Adam hear her say it and see her stand up for it and they just want her to shut up and die
again though, no shit she was going to stick with Vaggie after the truth came out, in the end. Once she had a moment to take a breath and step out of her head long enough for a reality check
Vaggie didn’t say to Charlie what she'd done or who she'd been. But she’s been and keeps doing what she can to follow that idea, unvoiced, from that day when she couldn’t kill a sinner- something Charlie didn't know about but now knows must have happened- A final death means no second chance and no worth as a person, but Vaggie didn’t think that, even before meeting Charlie she didn't think that.
She's always been on Charlie's side. They were on the same side before they ever set eyes on each other. All this time, for three whole years, and now she's off to go find a way to protect everything they've built together.
"-words are cheap, but actions, they speak the truth"
Charlie never really stopped trusting her. Maybe she wondered if she should, but even then, she had Vaggie go to Carmilla to find the key that might save them all.
"She killed an exorcist in the last extermination. She knows how they can be harmed."
"But… I- I didn't even know that was possible."
"If you did, would you have told me?"
So Charlie asked. A pretty painful thing to say- and she said it even as she sent an angel to go find out a way to hurt other angels.
She DID trust that Vaggie WOULD tell her.
The irony of all this happening thanks to Adam and Lute trying to keep it from happening, and all of it leading up to Vaggie getting back part of what they took from her, because now she doesn't need them or heaven to be an angel anymore.
Charlie has faith in her. Enough to send her off on an important mission even after Vaggie hurt her- and send her right to the person who end up helping Vaggie get back her wings.
“The rules are shades of gray when you don’t do as you say”
Vaggie’s new fucking wings are gray when Lute sees them. When Vaggie’s standing over her, sparing her life, her wings and that one, fucking unexplained stripe separating her from the other exorcists, all of it is GRAY.
That visual gut punch of, you’re. Fucking. Wrong. You’re wrong about sinners, you’re wrong about supposedly protecting heaven, you’re wrong thinking you can just DO this shit. That imagery of an angel who DIDN’T stay in the sky because she DIDN’T think being angel meant everything she did had to be right- who’s here in hell, trying to protect sinners from heaven’s slaughter-
And Lute wanted Vaggie to “correct” HER “mistake”? Vaggie’s???
That’s Lute, admitting that people in hell can get second chances and make up for what they did. Admitting that “Sinful filth” like Vaggie can be redeemed in some way, by following Lute’s version of what’s right.
But wasn’t her and Adam’s whole thing the idea of blowing your shot? Getting no other chance after it?
Oh yeah. Vaggie doesn’t believe that though. Not for sinners like her, not for angels like her.
She let’s Lute live. She does it to make Lute suffer, but there are a lot of ways to make someone suffer- an eye for an eye for example- and Vaggie chooses the one that doesn’t hurt Lute more than it has to, that leaves her alive, and leaves Lute’s suffering to be something completely of Lute’s own making (a HELL of Lute's own making, if you will) (Lute choosing to tear her OWN arm off to continue the fight-).
She's totally dismissive of the woman who was just going after her remaining eye like a dog after a bone.
Why is it that nothing Adam and Lute to do her matters?
Why don’t THEY matter to her at all?
Walking right past them, being so done with them up in heaven, not caving to the blackmail, only being worried about Charlie afterwards, not letting that crack in their relationship stop her from doing what she can for their hotel, Lute threatening to take her other eye and BLIND her just making her snark- even the vague threat to Charlie only gives Vaggie the oomf she needed to defend herself.
“Pathetic” she calls Lute. She’s right- they’re so pathetic, both them, Adam and Lute. They’re so scared of being wrong. So pissy over the idea of being less than great and perfect.
It breaks them. Adam’s last words are him having a meltdown in the face of not actually being hot shit. Where’s his respect, he wails, they should all be worshiping him! But they’re not. One of his random decedents stabs him to death because he would’ve done the same to her, and one of the last things he hears is Vaggie- the fuck up, the traitor, his former grumpy top girl Vagina- whooping with glee as he dies.
And Lute lives knowing that could’ve been her, too.
If it wasn't for Vaggie.
Being not all that didn’t break Vaggie. Finding out she was wrong got her to stop and think and change, not run straight on blindly into a fight that ends up with her (with HIM) dead.
Why does she go from terrified of Lute and Adam, to dismissive and annoyed and just all around not caring about them at all?
They gave up all her respect for them when they demanded the death of a child.
The father of humanity wanted a child killed. A helpless, whimpering kid, sacrificed to his ego and bruised pride, and for shits and giggles. His first lieutenant saw failing to do so as a sin worthy of hell. All this over a child. How could she ever take them seriously after that.
She came down from high and chased the child and held a blade over them on divine command.
Then, somehow, she saw the HORNS in her own shadow above them- even though she wasn’t WEARING her MASK, and she stopped.
She was her own messenger angel.
She chose to give the child mercy, and became the sacrifice herself.
Vaggie stuck it to the man. Didn’t steal that life. And, terrified of what would happen to her next, acted selflessly. The same thing that got her left behind in hell should have earned her place in heaven, according to Adam-
heaven was shit to her though. Made her into a soldier. Sent her to kill and kill and kill. Taught her trust on the battlefield- in heaven, of all fucking places-
Timeline wise we see her very first smile when she meets Charlie. When a stranger does- again- the bare minimum for someone else.
When she’s back up in heaven later she isn’t wistful, just angry, uncomfortable, annoyed. She isn’t happy there. It’s not home to her, like her and Charlie’s room back at the hotel is. Why should it be? What good did she ever find in herself up there?
Down here though, she's happy. Hell is where her heaven started. So I guess in the end, she did find what she’d earned after all. Or it, Charlie, found her.
When “The rules are shades of gray…”
Sometimes they’re wrong, and you have to break them.
People like Lute and Adam would rather crack under the pressure and die instead, but not Vaggie. They're out for blood. She's out for love.
Sucks to be them~

What about sukuna trying to make reader jealous but readers not fucking with it and gets mad instead or something🤔
Jealous? My facecard dont decline!
Heres something for  Heian era because i wasnt sure what time period you wanted but if you submit this request again I’m more than happy to do a modern day plus smut if you’d like💖 i had so much fun with this!
Waking up in a full nelson at the sound of “wake your stupid ass up” is the last thing Sukuna expects…. Like ever. The grip has him ready to pass back out and the only thing keeping him awake is the fact THRILL that it's you. Now you may be wondering:
“what did he do to make you so mad?”
Discussing fabrics with the seamstress was taking longer than it was supposed to but you didn't mind. not only were you the it girl and material girl of the land you were Sukunas girlfriend meaning you could have anything you want. New wardrobe? Yours. Blood of your enemies? You could have their blood and their enemies blood.
It seemed the only thing you couldn't have was alone time to be a baddie. As the seamstress opened up the jewelry box revealing 3 new sets of gold hoop earrings, 5 gold bracelets, an assortment of anklets and necklaces to match it with the different silk fabrics you grin happily when all of a sudden you hear this agitating sound.
“You’ve been at it for hours with this shit” Sukuna growls, walking in for the fourth time scaring the other woman and finally pissing you off. She doesn’t do her best work when she's terrified because her hands begin to shake.
“Would you fuck off” you hiss at your boyfriend completely annoyed at his pestering antics and the way he just cant take no for an answer. And it wasn’t even that you told him no to anything, it was more so that you just wanted to indulge in yourself, it takes time to be a bad bitch.
He was equally annoyed with you as well, truth be told for several reasons. He had no idea what kind of sorcery you’d done to have him this hooked. He knew you were nearly as powerful as him with the ability to summon any snake any size and that your body contained every snake venom known (and unknown) to man. The way your eyes would focus on him when he spoke taking in every word as if it was water and you were dehydrated, the way you reach for him in your sleep and God forbid he leaves bed to finish up work(gossip with uraume) you'd storm down stairs and plop in his lap demanding to be held falling asleep the minute he holds you. Or your lips? The way you smiled at him as he cupped your chin to guide his tip—
“No!” He snaps annoyed he has to fight an inanimate object for your attention and he leans forward causing something neither of you expect it happens to fast.
Your hands grab the back of his head locking into his hair yanking so he's now eye level with you, a dark look in your eyes as your tounge grazes your lips before you can say anything his intensity matches yours.
You expect it because how dare you embarrass him in front of lower levels like this?!
His hand wraps around your neck and soon it's a power battle as it usually is with an underlying sexual tension that keeps things flowing between you, the temperature of the room dropping 20 degrees on your behalf and quickly raising 21 on his.
Petty king.
You drop your hand not wanting to fight with him and knowing deep down he didn’t either. But how dare you defy the great sukuna.
“By the time i'm done with my meeting i expect you to be done with this” he seethes making sure to set fire to all the plants as he walks past them. How dramatic!
Sighing knowing that was his way of inviting you to the meeting you turn back to the woman sending her a look of reassurance to continue.
Walking down the bare marble halls the only sound of distant footsteps and chatter as you listen to uraume who fills you in on the gossip. You gasp with a wide eyed expression stopping to face them.
“And they were bunkmates” and your jaw nearly hit the ground at the tea. The servants were so messy you wanted to see if Sukuna knew anything about it and if anything would stop your fued it would be gossip.
Urauma glances behind you, their smile falling completely off their face replaced by nervousness before bringing it back but it was already too late.  It's when they try to guide you back to where you had already come from that you get suspicious and turn around seeing Sukuna with one of the servant girls pinned to the wall, his large tattooed arm above her head as he talks.
You almost laugh at the display and at Uraume trying to get his attention, instead you link arms with your boyfriend's bestie and continue to walk past them.
“He couldn't make me jealous even if he tried! I sit on this man's face nearly every night, he buys me everything I want and besides do you see what i look like? My body was crafted! My face was sculpted i cant be jealous when i look like this” you arrogantly spit loud enough for all 3 of them to hear and a slither of you feels bad for the poor girl she had mearly been roped into this and Sukuna feels his heart swell with pride, you were his fucking girl.
But he sees a challenge, he's still a man nonetheless and being a man comes with doing stupidness you couldn't explain.
Like having another woman on his arm at a dinner he hosted with Curses he somewhat respected and neighboring estates just to show off. He was arrogant you'll give him that, and you were livid.
Watching him flaunt this ditsy little flat bodied bimbo around was pissing you off not cause you were jealous but because you were the one that should be meeting all of his allies. You were the one who’s power matched theirs, even rivaled it. You could feel your human eyes turn to snake eyes as your anger rose and roared through you.
It was disrespectful and downright embarrassing! Not only did people not know your status and who you were to him, not only did it make you feel lower than the Queen you actually were not only did you look like a complete fool having Sukunas initial on the gold beads that decorated your butt length braided ponytail but she had the audacity to smile at you as if she won.
He let another woman take your place, let another woman feel like she was above you. He let another woman sit on YOUR throne that is his lap and you can feel yourself losing your composure faster than you ever have.
You want to react in this very moment cause a scene hell even release some of your snakes but you couldn't imagine looking as dramatic and childish as Sukuna did earlier! That wasn't very it girl material of you. Instead you look over at Uraume finishing your glass of Sake, there was no point in wasting it, before shoving it in their hands and disappearing.
Sukuna would never try no shit like this again.
Uraume sends a pointed look at Sukuna who instantly dismisses the servant smirking outwardly at your silent anger, a nerve wracking thought of if he pushed entirely too hard as the silhouette of you leaving replays in his mind. Were those his initials in your braid. He instantly feels disgusted and wants everyone to leave while he talks to you but swallows the thought.
He was Sukuna Ryomen, the king of curses, the king of doing whatever he wanted and nobody could stop him or tell him otherwise. So he parties, drinks and continues the night without a hitch until the sky is at its darkest and he bids a good night showering and laying in his empty bed.
He spends about an hour tossing and turning unable to sleep not knowing where you are and pissed you aren’t in bed with him.
It's when he finally dozes off at the beginning of a dream playing that he thinks he feels the tips of your fingers in his back trailing over his broad shoulders and all four arms.
“Wake your stupid ass up” he hears before there's a vice-like grip on his neck pushing against his windpipe. He struggles for a little bit to breathe as your wrist digs into his pressure points.
“Y/N!” He shouts your name yet you only grip tighter and he doesn't even fight to get you off just shocked at your murder attempt.
“No dont fucking Y/N me! You tried to make me jealous and only pissed me off! Do I look like some weak willed bitch to you? Do you not see what i look like and you think you can make ME jealous, my king im offended! and the fucking audacity to try” you snap squeezing tighter and his hands come up to grip your arms.
“Ryomen If you ever treat me like im not your girlfriend… your fucking queen ill poison you, have you an inch from your life and take over your thrown as i watch you die” you whisper the last part in his ear sending a chill down his spine before your grip loosens completely arms unsnaking.
Climbing under the covers you make yourself comfortable before turning on your side instantly falling asleep the minute your head hits the pillow.
You miss the way your boyfriend holds his neck in disbelief with slight arousal and a tad bit of fear. You were fearless yet angry enough to not only threaten him but attempt to kill him? It’s when he hears your soft snores that actually sounds more like a snake hiss that he knows you're actually asleep.
Not only did you just pull that stunt but you had the audacity to sleep peacefully knowing he wouldn’t kill you. Not even a sliver of fear in your body. It’s like you were testing him!
He may have been a sick man because he loved every second of it, he doesn’t test his luck by wrapping any of his arms around you, instead just lays close enough to still feel your body heat until you roll over wrapping an arm and leg possesively around him.
He grins for a woman nearly a foot shorter than him, you may have the biggest ego in the room.
“Wait, she tried to kill you in your sleep, threatened to kill you once you woke up and you’re shopping for wedding rings right now?” Uraume asks and this is one of the only times Sukuna had baffled them with his madness. Uraume never questioned Sukuna, it wouldn’t make sense to and that’s how it was easy being his most loyal and right hand but this… this was different.
“Yeah, any woman that bold is made for me!” Sukuna grins looking over the rings trying to find the biggest, brightest, most sinister looking ring.
“You think after yesterday's events consisting of making her jealous and ignoring her you should propose?” Uraume stated in that pestering ‘duh jackass’ voice that would usually have sukuna second guessing.
“What? No, she rode my face this morning until she blacked out again and I sent her to the next land over shopping for whatever her heart desires then set up a hair appointment with a stylist from her homeland.” Sukuna picks up a ring with a blood diamond circled by red rubies that matched the red of his eyes. He was sure the ring could be used as an anchor… you’d love it.
“Your highness for the cost of that ring we may have to take over a small village to not have this affect our funds” Uraume advises making small notes of villages near by in other peoples territory knowing Sukuna would start a war if it meant funding his queens lifestyle.
“A village is too small i want kamiro territory, ill kill him and anybody that decides to follow him. I don’t like the way he smells anyway” Sukuna shrugs, picking up a matching bracelet for you.
“You two have more drama than the servants”

I am a loyal subscriber to the school of “Arlecchino thought Furina was a bad god for throwing her people’s lives away carelessly and lying about how powerful she is until Arle finds out the truth post-4.2, that Furina’s charade was not only vital to saving Fontaine but also something that was put upon her and she managed to endure it for 500 years despite only being human, and then Arelcchino is OBSESSED with Furina and goes from 0 to Doting Husband Who Wakes You Up With Kisses And Makes You Breakfast like, overnight.
“After a VERY confusing encounter where Arlecchino brings cake and makes tea at Furina’s new apartment and apologizes for terrorizing her and thanks her for saving Fontaine, Furina breaks down crying and basically wailing about her problems to Arlecchino, who Furina half expects to just turn her back on her at some point or reveal this was all some elaborate trick, but she doesn’t. She listens and she agrees that it was unfair and when Furina doesn’t move away when she gets closer, Arlecchino hugs her and pets her hair and tells her she did well and when Furina’s fully exhausted herself with crying and her voice is raw, Arlecchino picks her up and carries her to bed and tells her to rest. Furina, tired and so relieved to have someone to talk to after so long and scared to be left alone again, asks Arlecchino to stay. Arlecchino promises that she’ll still be there when Furina wakes up, and she keeps this promise.
“Neuvillette and Clorinde are both HORRIFIED when Furina tells them that Arlecchino has been coming around to her apartment a lot in the past couple months. Furina tries to explain that she wasn’t scared of Arle anymore and that she’s had a change of heart, but neither of them believe her and insist on going with Furina to the lunch date she had with Arlecchino that afternoon to protect her. It’s jarring for them seeing the shift, how Furina is suddenly so comfortable sitting next to Arlecchino, how Arlecchino fusses over Furina like she’s adored her for years, Arlecchino placing her jacket over Furina’s shoulders when a chill makes her shiver, the way Furina melts into Arle’s embrace when Arlecchino wraps an arm around her waist, and the way Arlecchino brushes the hair so gently out of her face and kisses the top of her head like she’s the most precious thing in the world.
“Though Clorinde promises to keep an eye on things and keep Neuvillette updated if she finds any suggestion of ill intent, both of them saw how happy Furina was, and they can’t help being tentatively hopeful that Arlecchino truly does intend only to love her from now on. Furina apologizes for springing those two on Arlecchino as Arle walks her home. Arle gently grills her about them, and is ultimately relieved to find out that they’ve also been keeping in touch with Furina and making sure she’s okay. Arlecchino is a possessive lover that doesn’t like sharing, but she hates it even more when she finds Furina all alone, stuck in a depression she can’t get out of by herself and neither of them know how long she’s been like that because Furina’s lost track of time again.
“Though Arlecchino loves being the center of Furina’s world, she loves Furina even more, so she’ll tolerate everyone else in Furina’s life that makes her happy…and quietly dispose of anyone who threatens her happiness.”

Had a great idea for a Spirit Halloween fic!
Ok so I know people tend to write the Infinite Realms as being connected to all dimensions, so imagine when FlashPoint Paradox occurred (it created a completely different timeline for the DC universe before it was corrected by the Flash, one in which Bruce Wayne died in the alley) the ghost of Bruce Wayne came into existence in the infinite realms.
Clockwork is aware that reversing the changes to the timeline will destroy ghost!bruce but he uses his power to protect him and keep in existence. Because ghost!bruce has to exist so he can be in the right spot so when a portal opens up he can fuse with a boy named Danny and save his life.
DP canon proceeds for the next year or two, by this point Danny has revealed his halfa status to his parents but he’s still unaware that he’s bonded to a ghost (maybe the bonding event knocked ghost!bruce unconscious?) and after some time and a lot of talks they’ve come around to the truth that ghosts are actually sentient and just like humans some are good and some are bad.
Unfortunately the GIW are still around and with years of public ghost appearances and battles, all the footage and proof they’ve built up leads to the government deciding to expand the GIW. More agents, better training and more weaponry. Their mission statement goes from discovering ghosts weaknesses and studying them to complete extermination.
Some big fight between Phantom and some agents happens and maybe there were some bystanders killed, maybe Tucker and Sam or the rest of the Fenton family? And the sheer trauma of the event as well as the injuries Danny gets pushes through his bond and wakes up ghost!Bruce.
Because of the bond Bruce is aware of Danny’s memories and has subconsciously been learning with him as well as “aging” (he might just be subconsciously shapeshifting to match Danny’s age).
And now Danny is starting to hear a voice in his head, trying to comfort him, promising that he’ll never be alone. Freaked out, Danny travels to see Frostbite thinking he’s finally going crazy but gets waylaid by Clockwork, who finally reveals this whole convoluted plot he set up to prevent Danny’s death from the portal and ensure that Danny Phantom would come to be.
*I’ve always liked the idea that Clockwork aims every dimension toward the timeline with the best outcome, but Danny’s has always been difficult to see clearly so clockworks mostly making plans on the fly ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I have no clue what happens next because my brain went straight to Danny and ghost!Bruce working together to figure out how to split, and eventually starting to grow feelings for each other the longer they’re aware of each other.
Eventually, something’s leads them to going to Gotham (I imagine Danny is in his mid 20s at this point) and they decide that with the GIW growing more dangerous they need to actively search for allies, ghost!Bruce doesn’t have super clear memories of his living life, probably doesn’t even really remember his name, but he does have a memory of a voice saying something along the lines of “Wayne’s always help when they can” and hey Bruce Wayne is Batman’s auger daddy, maybe he can get them an in with the JLA?

hello, this is my first request :) unsure if your still taking requests but I was wondering how the companions (maybe romanced maybe not) would react to finding out the Inquisitor has a dead kid? I think the only way the party would find out is in the fade via the fear demon, and then maybe the advisors find out on their own ┐( ∵ )┌
idk but I would be truly honored to see you answer this request, and even if not than thank you for reading over it <33
- 🍡
WARNINGS For CHILD LOSS YOI HAVE BEEN WARNED
Cassandra: When the fear demon, gleeful in it’s telling of their leader’s loss, reveals the truth the Seeker is…well, there are no words. Forcibly she is reminded of how they swayed, pale and weeping, when she had said there were no other survivors. Guilt churns low and deep at her own words, a year and more gone now, throwing that fact in their face as accusation. Throwing such a loss in their face and then demanding answers.
Throwing a calling at their feet and demanding leadership, never knowing what a loss they struggled through.
She fights all the harder for them, as if every enemy batted away from them is attempted absolution. Cassandra Pentaghast thought she understood grief in all its facets, but what does the loss of older brother and parents- expected losses if come too soon- stand before the loss of a child? Maker, how do they still breathe through it?
When they are free of the fade, she approaches only to offer apology. If they wish to speak of their loss she will listen, but only then. She has forced enough from them.
Varric: Shit. Just…shit. Here he is, going on for months about how this story is bad for heroes and how the Inquisitor is the main character and blathering on, and never saw it. Never saw the aching grief, because it was never shown. The only example he has, or is at least intimately familiar with, is Leandra Hawk and his own mother.
And as the Inquisitor had never fallen into drink or taken to blaming whoever was closest to them for things outside of anyone’s control there had been no sign for Varric to catch on to. And it makes him feel…almost dirty. Stained with his own intentions, blithely going on while their leader had lost their kid.
He doesn’t bring it up to them, doesn’t know how, but Skyhold’s resident author is absolutely the own who tells Josephine as soon as they tumble out of the fade. That raven missive is a short and brutal telling, far from his normal goings on, and his guilt is manifold in it.
Solas: The Dread Wolf is not so unattached from the world as to not consider the losses suffered at the conclave, but for the most part -when he did turn his mind to them- they were mostly academic. A balance of power, and the loss of so many leaders among both chantry and mages a destabilizing force for his future efforts. Numbers laid cooly on a chart, beads on an abacus. The fortunes of war laid bare.
But more than one parent lost a child in that terrible moment, and siblings mourned. Children bereft, friends torn asunder, lovers left to weep alone for their loves. Listening to the fear demon enumerate the inquisitor’s loss magnifies the enormity of what happened, and though he will undoubtedly be the source of much worse for a moment the Dread Wolf cannot breathe.
It passes, of course, and when they leave the fade the rift mage dies his best not to carry those emotions out with him. This world is not to blame for his actions, for the destruction of his world, but he must restore it and so they must bear the cost. It is not fair to them, and it will be long months until he can be east about his plans.
In the interim, he dares to approach the inquisitor only once about their loss. He is there as a listening ear in the silence of his rotunda if they wish to speak of their sorrow. Or if they wish only a silent companion, he will direct the kindest spirits he can find to guard their dreams and remain at their side as long as he can.
Blackwall: Maker forbid. For a moment Skyhold’s would be warden is swamped by the images of Callier’s children, dead under tiny shrouds beside the ruined carriage at his command. Too many children fall victim to the machinations of their elders and with none to protect them from the fall out, but for all that most of Blackwall’s experience has been from the other side.
Being confronted with the parent who had lost a child, confronted with the knowledge that they had told none of them and had suffered under the burden alone was staggering. Damn it, they had all laid burdens at the Inquisitor’s feet and expected answers, demanded decisions and leadership in a word gone mad— and none had known what they had lost.
He doesn’t know what to say or how to act and instead channels everything into the fight to flee the fade. Rainier would be too much the coward to speak to their leader in the aftermath, but Blackwall- older and hopefully wiser from his own griefs- will offer quiet condolences and whatever aid he can. If they need to speak of it be will listen. And if not there is soft wood and chisel enough to grind out any feelings if that is what they need.
Vivienne: Children had never been in her destiny. As a mage, even one so elevated as to be all but free of the constraints of the circle, motherhood was forbidden to her. Any child of her womb would be sacrificed to the Chantry, given to a family deemed ‘more worthy’ to raise it.
And as a mistress, no matter how deeply the love between them bloomed, Bastian could never have given her such a blessing. He had children— an illegitimate child, and a mage child at that, would have been too great a weapon against him.
And so she had put it out of her mind, never allowed herself to consider or imagine what a son might look like, how a daughter might smile. To think of it would be a loss too great to contemplate—or so she had thought. Met with the active loss and overwhelming grief that their leader must feel, Madame de Fer is suddenly glad not to know how such a burden might rest on her soul.
Could she be so calm a leader as the Inquisitor, while bleeding out inside? Vivienne does not know, and that…well, terrifies her in a way little has. But she is not called iron for nothing, and so when all is calm again she will go the Herald and ask simply and plainly what she might do for them. If the answer is nothing she will abide by it. And if there is something that might in any way assuage their grief then she will ensure they have it.
Dorian: Well, that at least explains the Inquisitor’s uncharacteristically violent outburst, when Halward Pavus had made his way to Ferelden. Upon hearing the possible consequences of the blood magic ritual the Inquisitor had laid into the Magister, flaying with words when they could not use violence. Even the Pavus paterfamilias had seemed shaken by the diatribe, and Dorian had felt championed.
He is not so shallow as to feel betrayed by the knowledge of what terrible grief must have driven such an impassioned defamation of character, but can instead only ache for his friend’s loss. They must have been a wonderful parent, and in a quiet time later will gather his courage to tell them so.
Sera: It doesn’t really register in the moment, so great is her own fear of the Fade and it’s denizens, but later it will simply break the Red Jenny’s heart. Their leader lost a true little one, and still managed to bring themselves to protect the rest of the little people no matter their age.
Like Blackwall she will either offer distraction or uncharacteristic silence in comfort, baked goods an offering that feels too…personal for such a gaping loss. But her admiration for them grows exponentially.
The Iron Bull: Public, corporate grief is rare among the Qun. Not forbidden, exactly, but when everyone is given a role it also implies that every person is inherently replaceable in that role. As Koslun said, the tide rises and falls and things must work forward toward peace.
But the death of a child is different. Whether disease or violence or simple accident, losing an imereki is a tragedy. The Tamassran mourns, the others in their care mourn, and all those in the sphere of the lost one are permitted some little allowance for the loss. Things cannot grind to a halt- this is why parents are separated from children, to ensure the deep emotional bonds that are anathema to the Qun- but there is not simple acceptance without acknowledgement of the loss.
Not even that was given to the Inquisitor. It’s east to see the shock of the others even through his own fear, and the knowledge infuriates Bull enough to get him through the Fade. Their leader lost a child, and no one was there for them. Instead piled on the whole world and its imminent loss on their shoulders. It’s disgraceful.
Later, when Adamant is pacified and they return to Skyhold, he will pull them aside. It will be painful and it will be slow, and whether they need alcohol or pain or even the clinical breakdown that bondage and sex can only give-with their explicit consent- he will help them bleed the pain and begin the grieving process.
Cole: The pain was too big for him to help, the threads caught up in pain and joy and guilt and anger and terrible despair. He didn’t even have the words to describe it to others, and so had kept silent.
If they need him later he will help, but this loss is too big for a spirit unsure of how to act.
Cullen: Maker’s breathe. How could they…why did they not…Damn it, how could he not realize?! He had all but thrust the entire inquisition on a parent who had been robbed the chance to even bury their child, let alone mourn them.
Varric’s report rocks him to the core, and the commander in truth does not know what to do. If the rest of the inner circle has it well in hand he will simply work to make sure their leader has less in their plate. If they wish to discuss it with them, he is there and if not…
He hardly has the words anyway.
Josephine: She weeps over the missive, when it arrives. Their inquisitor has been hiding the worst of loses from them, putting on such a brave face to do so much. Like Cullen she works to make sure they have less to do when they return, but does pull them aside briefly to awkwardly hug them and ask if they want a memorial somewhere private in Skyhold.
Leliana: She knew. She knew from only a few days after, when her spies brought her everything there was on the Herald. And even The Nightingales Heart could ache for such a loss, but Leliana took her queues from the Herald and simply never discussed it. That does not change now— she will follow their lead.

Ok, ok, HEAR ME OUT-
How about lmk Monkeifam and Bullfam with a Y/N who isn't afraid to throw hands —
Like i mean in a response to trauma or manipulation, becouse i fell it isn't explore enough in this situation -
Sure, your loved that you belived was a friend trapped /kidnapped/gaslight you is heartbreaking and of course you are gonna be sad and more incline to behave butttt-
There is always the other way of absolute rage that comes in once you realized you have been trapped/kidnapped /gaslight ecc- like i don't care anymore, i wanna throw hands, those people are death to me.(even thought this isn't the smarter choice considering the strenght of some of the people here) like them breaking Y/N down so they can comfort them to manipulate them, but then unsurprisingly the get the biggest smack/punch of their life . Just- wow the audacity.
Throwing Hands
Bullfam & Monkiefam
Tumblr media
“…is this some sort of pathetic attempt at ‘rebellion’, Y/N? I am not impressed.”
Your hands straight bounce. Like punching a bag of wet cement, the Demon Bull King’s skin just shifts around under your fists, never breaking or bruising. You only shatter yourself against it, leaving you worn and looking foolish.
He might not even punish you, given that it’s likely that you break a wrist on impact.
“Now, look what you’ve done to yourself, foolish child. Did you truly think your mortal flesh could stand a demon king’s might? Well, now you know better.”
You lost your temper and struck him. Immediately, you learn better than to do that ever again, and he considers it lesson enough.
Surprisingly merciful, all things considered. (Partially because he finds it somewhat funny.)
Tumblr media
I once said in my yandere alphabet that: “Red Son doesn’t want to waste his time doing something like caning or whipping you”. And though I think that viewpoint is usually true…
This changes that. It’s maybe the only situation where he would actively engage in any form of normalized torture “corporal punishment”.
Being physically attacked switches Red from ‘mildly reasonable, if a bit hair-trigger’ to ‘vicious and cruel’. Through brute force alone does he wrestle you into submission, binding your arms behind your back with a pair of metal cuffs.
He tosses you onto the nearest bed and couch before burning the lower half of your clothing off. He then takes up a thin metal rod to utilize in “disciplining” you, sharply lashing it down against your now unprotected skin. He’ll leave puffy, bleeding welts from the top of your rear to the bottom of your thighs, ensuring that you won’t even be able to think about walking for at least a week.
Problem is that not only does it not solve the problem of you being scared and angry, it also just… makes him feel bad afterwards. It breaks him, seeing you weep brokenly over his bed. Blood sluggishly trickles from the skin he’s lashed open, and you scream your lungs out into the sheets as you try to adjust to the pain.
And then he “has to” (wants to, in truth) settle in for some awkward form of aftercare, offering lotion and bandages. When you don’t accept, he forces you to drink a cup of honeyed tea loaded with sedatives because you won’t stop shrieking.
Antiseptic while you’re asleep, a few stitches here and there, then the lotion and bandages he tried earlier. And then a few cautious back rubs, trying to calm your fitful slumber.
“Gods, Y/N… what have I done to you? I… I was just… I was… no, I… I’m sorry.”
Tumblr media
An outright dodge. Princess Iron Fan has no time for your nonsense. For trying, she’ll lock you into whatever room has been set aside for you, barring the door with powerful magic.
One shallowly-filled bowl of food every two days, adding just a little bit more to it each day. One ceramic cup of room temperature water every four hours. A change of clothes every three days. Instead of brute force, Iron Fan teaches you through deprivation.
After a month of this, she might see fit you allow you back out of your room, letting you mingle with the family you have been forced to adopt.
After writing her a letter of apology, of course. Two pages. Pray you have the mind to keep your pencil steady.
Tumblr media
So very many tears to deal with, probably on both ends. MK knows that he’s doing isn’t all that great, sure… but it’s because he loves you!
Can’t you love him back, please? Ok, he’s been manipulating you! Maybe he’s been driving some friends away! Maybe he’s sent a few clones to tail you around the city! But, please, please- you can’t stop loving him! He just can’t risk having you hurt!
“Please, Y/N! You don’t understand! I’m just trying to keep you safe! You can hit me again, hit me as many times as you want! Just- please, Y/N… I need you. Please…”
His last resort is stuffing you in Shuilian Cave, given that you can’t escape with his or Sun Wukong’s help. Maybe a few ropes to keep you in place. He’ll cry with each knot tied, begging you not to hate him.
Tumblr media
Sun Wukong tanks your punch and gives your head a little pat, frowning at the display. “Sorry, bud. Trust me, I know I’m not exactly the good guy here. Go ahead and let it out. I… kinda deserve it, huh?”
The Great Sage knows you have every reason to be upset. Really, you do. All there’s only so much waylaying of emotions to be done, unfortunately. You were going to crack eventually.
He stands firmly in place, one hand rubbing your back while you break your fists against his body, watching you scream and cry. The man is just… unsurprised? He’s starting to realize that he messes up a lot of things.. So just letting you whale on him seems fair, gently trying to shush your angry tears while your skin grinds to bloody pulp against his shredded abdomen.
“How about I make us some tea,” he offers afterwards, surveying your destroyed hands. “And I’ll patch you up. Then… I think you’ve earned yourself an early bedtime for the rest of the week, bud.”
Tumblr media
“Oh, kiddo. Do you know what “screwing up” is? After this, they’re gonna put your picture in the dictionary as an example.”
Macaque does not tolerate having hands laid on him. Not by friends, not by enemies. And certainly not by his little student, who is supposed to be wide-eyed and placid, in awe of his every move and strike.
You are supposed to be sweet and respectful. You are supposed to be kind and loving.
And he’s sure that with a little bit of “training”, he’ll get you back to that disposition.
He’ll snap his fingers with an angry snarl, shadows springing all around you like cold wires. You are gagged with a cold ebon muzzle, both your hands locked inside a cuff of swirling black and purple. You want to act like an animal? Macaque will chain you to the wall by your new muzzle and treat you like an animal.
Maybe a few days spent so on a chain so short you can’t lay down will teach you better than to raise a hand against “the only person who even loves you, Y/N!” ever again.

The reader is an earthrelmer, and when Mileena meets the reader , she falls in love and through the story. You see them get closer and closer until the reader almost dies and Mileena saves her?
Mileena and Tanya are not together?
I hope this is okay with you if not it's cool :] have a good day
ADDITIONAL : I made the reader Raiden’s twin sister. In the original timeline the reader was a thunder god and in MK 11 Raiden and reader gave Liu Kang all their power to save them so in this timeline she is the new earthrealm’s champion. Also in the original timeline, Mileena had an obsessive crush on you but nothing came of it. This is more so a story because the idea came to me and I couldn’t get it out of my head. Also plot will change from mk 11 becaussse I said so
PART 1
Tumblr media
Everything was starting to make sense to you. Your brother and your friends were sent on a mission to capture Shang Tsung in Outworld. What came of it was discovering Mileena had Tarkat in her, Kenshi becoming blind, them being captured and two new arrivals.
The conversation Mileena had with you in the room made complete sense and now you had only wished you figured it out sooner.
You could only imagine how Mileena felt. How scared she was. How alone she was. You wanted to take her in your arms and shield her from it. From everything that was bad.
She didn’t deserve it.
Raiden noticed the worry that was plastered on your face. The two of you were in the study room. He had obviously known the connection you and Mileena shared. He wished you two didn’t have the connection as she was now dangerous but he would not dare tell his sister whom she can and can’t love. “She’ll be alright, (Y/N). Lord Liu Kang will make sure of it.”
Somehow you had doubt in your mind. “Will she though, Raiden? I knew something was up with her. I should’ve questioned more. Pushed harder.”
Raiden comfortingly placed his hand over yours. “You could have not guessed this would happen. Do not blame yourself, sister.” He told her. The thought then dawned on him. “I know you are fond of her, (Y/N). You make it incredibly obvious. However, how would you even have a relationship with her? She could affect you with the Tarkat.”
You clicked your tongue to the roof of your mouth. Raiden was right. How would you two even have a normal relationship even if you wanted to? It would never work.
Liu Kang claimed he was going to Sindel to convince her Shang Tsung was a master of deceit. You had only wished you could leave with him. “I don’t know. Maybe in another lifetime I guess.”
Seeing the saddened look on his face broke him. He hated seeing his sister devastated. It crushed him. So, he sighed. He took his hand away from hers and motioned at her to leave. “Go.”
You raised an eyebrow confused. “Go?”
“Lord Liu Kang is outside. Go with him to Outworld but if you don’t end up with the girl when this is all over, I will be…” He trailed off, trying to find the right words.
You smirked, knowing your brother was not known to use foul language. “Come on. Say it.”
He rolled his eyes playfully. “Pissed. I will be highly pissed.”
You chuckled a little. You got up from your seat and hugged him a little. “Aw. Thank you, brother.”
Raiden hugged you back. “Yeah, yeah. Now, go.”
You stood up from the seat and walked out the room all the way outside. Liu Kang was creating a portal with his fire.
“Lord Liu Kang.” You walked over to him. “Let me come with you.” You noticed the hesitant look on his face. “Look, Sindel doesn’t trust you. Mileena and I had somewhat of a connection. If I could convince her of the truth, maybe it could work. No offense but you nor Raiden and them happened to be their biggest fan.”
Liu Kang thought for the moment. You were right. You and Mileena happened to share a connection. Maybe you could be the one to talk sense to her. It also helped to have backup. “I believe you are right. Come along. We must hurry.”
Tumblr media
You and Liu Kang had entered Outworld. There stood Li Mei and Sun Do’s guards. “Great…” You mumbled.”
Li Mei walked over to the two of you. “Return home Lord Liu Kang and (Y/N). I am to let no one pass.”
Liu Kang did not move. “I must see Her Majesty. She must call off her attack on Earthrealm.”
“Her decision was unwise but she no longer seeks my counsel. And I doubt she’s interested in yours.”
You decided to speak. “Empress Sindel has been deceived. Shang Tsung and General Shao have tormented this crisis as a means to steal her throne.”
Li Mei’s eyes go wide at this. “General Shao?! I knew he was hiding his true intentions. But join Shang Tsung?” She sighed. “I knew he couldn’t be trusted! We’re I still Umgadi he never would have breathed the same air as the Empress. My palace sources told me he arrived out of no where and immediately had the Empress’s ear.”
“He gained her trust by treating Princess Mileena’s condition.” He explained. “Tragically, she is afflicted with Tarkat disease.”
“Tarkat?” Li Mei exclaimed. “The Empress must be beside herself. If Shang Tsung found a treatment, no wonder she embraced him.”
“I have shared this with no one. I trust that you of all people will keep this secret.”
“Of course. Were it made public, it would bring down the royal family.”
“Li Mei. Empress Sindel needs our help.” You told her.
“Will you join us?” Liu Kang asked.
Li Mei was in some deep thought before she spoke. “Emperor Jerrod’s death, the pain it caused Empress Sindel has always haunted me. I failed the royal family once. I won’t do so again.”
Tumblr media
Going to the palace, you had defeated Reiko and Tanya and currently had Tanya in a hold so she couldn’t fight the three of you.
The Empress and Princesses sat before you. You passed a look to Mileena but she couldn’t even look at you. Something in your heart felt betrayed by the action but hopefully it wouldn’t feel that way for long.
“How dare you Li Mei?!” Sindel questioned. “It’s not enough that you let Jerrod be murdered? You’d let Liu Kang and his champion destroy the rest of my family?”
“My heart broke when your husband died.” Li Mei told her. “I lost not only my Empress…but you, my closest friend. I know you may never forgive me…but don’t be blinded by anger and grief. We are here to help you.”
Tanya started to choke Li Mei with her cuffs. Li Mei pushed her off and you sighed as the others started to fight you. “So much for the easy way.”
Kitana went out to fight. Mileena was about to as well but Sindel stopped her. “No. Your condition.”
Kitana went straight to you. She tried to cut you with her fans but you blocked it. She went punch for punch. She had not landed a hit on you. You had grabbed her arm and brought her close to you. “I do not want to hurt you, princess.”
She scoffed. “Just because you defeated my sister does not mean you can best me, champion.”
Kitana went to kick your stomach and she punched your face. The truth is you very much so could defeat Kitana. You didn’t want to hurt her so you were not using any of your power to fight her. You were letting her win.
Kitana hit you in the face again and again and used her fan to slice your stomach. You hissed at the pain.
Mileena looked at you confused. Why were you not using any of your strength to fight Kitana? Her mother made you out to be the enemy but if that were true, why weren’t you fighting her sister? “You’re not even trying, (Y/N)!” Mileena yelled out.
Kitana used her fans to lift you up in the air and she threw you against the brick wall. You groaned in pain. You didn’t have time to get up before Kitana grabbed you up from the ground. She raised her fan to your throat, ready to slice it open. “Don’t tell me Earthrealm’s champion refuses to fight back.”
You could break out the hold if you truly wanted to but you wanted to show her you meant no harm. You wanted to show Mileena you meant no harm. “I guess so.”
Mileena could not watch her sister preform a fatality on you. She ignores her mothers orders and rushed to your aid.
She kicked Kitana so she was not on you. Mileena then picked you up from the ground. “I didn’t know I was fond of a coward.” She shoved you a little. “You fight me or I let her kill you.”
You honestly didn’t want to fight Mileena. Fighting her at the tournament was one thing. Now it was like you two were fighting for the death. “I will not, Princess.”
Mileena goes to punch you. You blocked it. She tried to sweep your legs but you jumped. She then gets her sai out and tried to stab you but you kicked the sai out of her hand.
Princess Mileena then tried to kick you but you grabbed her leg. You pulled her close to you with her leg so her leg was wrapped around your waist. You were dangerously close to her but you didn’t care. You wanted her to trust you. “Do you not trust me?”
“I did.” Mileena pushed you. Something started to happen to her. She felt the Tarkat take over her. Her teeth grew and eyes glowed. You stood there in disbelief. It was different seeing it in person.
Sindel immediately tried to get Mileena. “Mileena!”
Mileena charged at her mother, pushing her to the ground. They fall together. Mileena tried to take a bite out of her but you pull Mileena off.
“Focus on me!” You tell her. “You’re mad at me. You think I betrayed you but I have not.” You get into your defensive fighting stance. “And I will show you I haven’t.”
Mileena tries to hit you. You block it. This continues sometime until you sweep her feet. She stands back up, charging at you with her other sai.
The sai aims at your throat but you grabbed her hand. You overpowered her. You kick her legs, making her fall to the ground. She stabs you in the side of your stomach with her sai. You yelled out in pain. You twist her arm to make her drop the sai.
Mileena slaps you across the face but you take it. You push her down and pin her to the ground. You honestly could be infected from how close you were. You didn’t care. You just wanted to protect Mileena.
Tanya was released and rushed over to Mileena. She injected her with the serum. Mileena’s Tarkat started to hide.
She blinked her eyes a couple times. When you saw she had came to her senses, you stood up and helped her up. “Are you alright, princess?”
Mileena looked at you like she couldn’t believe you were asking the question. You could’ve been infected but you were worrying about her? “Me? Are you?”
“I am fine.”
Sindel’s face washed with relief as she looked at you. “You saved me? After all I have done?”
You nodded to her. You didn’t think it was a big deal. “I mean yeah. Lord Liu Kang has told you…we are not the enemy, Empress.”
Sindel looked over at Liu Kang, taking your words in. “Because your champion has saved me and not harm my daughters, I will allow you to speak and hear you out. Be very grateful I allow this.”
Liu Kang was internally thanking himself that he had brought you along. “Shang Tsung. Quan Chi. The General…they conspire to conquer our realms.”
“A serious charge. Where is your proof?”
“At Shang Tsung’s laboratory. If what you see there does not convince you, I will surrender Earthrealm without a fight.
Tumblr media
Seeing it for yourself was absolutely disgusting. You did not expect it to be that bad but Liu Kang had warned you.
Sindel was in shock of the gruesome sight. “Despite my best efforts, neither man nor Quan Chi are who they were meant to be.” Liu Kang spoke.
The statement caught you off guard as he was Earthrealms protector and it was not his responsibility of Outworld’s people.
“They’re not your responsibility. They’re Outworlders.” Sindel told him.
Liu Kang’s eyes darted to the ground for a moment before looking back up. “But it is I who crafted their destines…along with those of all other beings at the dawn of history.”
“You created the realms?” Kitana questioned. “Is your mind addled demi god?”
“I am a mere demi god now. But events ago I was more powerful than all of the Elder Gods combined. I was a Titan and the Keeper of Time.”
Liu Kang used his powers to conjure up a man you did not recognize. “This is Geras.”
Geras had bowed to the women. “Your Majesty. Your highnesses. (Y/N).”
“Geras is the guardian of the hourglass.” As Liu Kang spoke, Geras started to use his power to conjure up pictures. “A celestial object which lies beyond the realms. The hourglass regulates time and destiny. When I wielded it’s power, it was upon me to craft all of existence. Which I did when I restarted history.”
“Restarted?” Sindel questioned.
Geras spoke. “This timeline was preceded by billions more though this is the first of Liu Kang’s design. The others were designed by his predecessor Kronika. Kronika was obsessed with equalizing good and evil. When a timeline veered too far to one or the other, she would haunt it and restart history. Tinkering with lives and events in the hope of achieving her golden balance.”
“In prior timelines Kronika gave Shang Tsung and Quan Chi mastery of the most vile magics.” Liu Kang said. “Shao was not a general but a tyrannical ruler bent on conquest. You, Sindel we’re his ruthless wife who would do anything to preserve your privilege. In that timeline, (Y/N) was not Earthrealm’s champion. I was. (Y/N) and Raiden were twin thunder gods who were my mentor. When I took the hourglass from Kronika, I vowed to do better.”
Geras stopped showing the pictures through his magic but Liu Kang still continued. “So in this timeline, the sorcerers would not gain their dark powers. Shao would be Sindel’s loyal follower…and if anything would turn out of balance (Y/N) would be the chosen one to save the realms.”
“But someone has interfered with Liu Kang’s design.” Geras said. “Shao, Shang Tsung, Quan Chi…all have been groomed by an unknown entity to be the villains they were in previous timelines.”
You stood there completely shocked. The fact that there was multiple timelines struck you hard. Not only that but you were a god and the roles between you and Liu Kang were reversed? You didn’t know what to think.
Sindel took the words right out your mouth. “Where to begin? Am I to kneel to my creator? Do you expect worship?”
Liu Kang shook his head. “No, your majesty. My prior role was thrust upon me by circumstances. In the previous timeline, my Revenant counterpart took my soul and was on a hell bent mission to be powerful. Raiden and (Y/N) used all their power to make me become the God of Lightning and Fire. I was the only one that was a match to beat Kronika.”
You tilted your head as if what you heard was absurd. “Me? Give up God powers for you? That doesn’t really sound much like me…” Mileena flicked your forehead with her finger and you hissed at the pain. “Ow!”
“You had power over all of creation yet you gave it up.” Sindel said astonished.
“Because I saw how it drove Kronika mad.” He said. “I would fair no better had I kept it.”
The door slammed opened. General Shao, Nitara, Rain, and few others were behind him. “Here we go…” You mumbled.
Sindel went to the front. “You. How dare you conspire against Outworld?”
“Not against Outworld but against your misguided rule.” General Shao stated simply. He held an amulet towards them. “Don’t move.”
Liu Kang had recognized it. “(Y/N). Everyone stay back.”
“What is it?” You asked.
“The Amulet of Shinnok. A weapon of terrifying power.”
“It should not exist.” Geras said perplexed. “It’s maker is powerless as Liu Kang designed.”
“Yet more proof of foreign interference.” Liu Kang said annoyed.
“Enough!” General Shao shouted. “You’ll both bend to Outworld’s new Emperor.”
You rolled your eyes. “Not on your best day.”
General Shao gave you a look full of evil. Something about it was cold to you. You didn’t like the look he was giving you. “I’ve been waiting to do this for so long.”
He showed the amulet to you. Mileena saw this and pushed you out of the way, causing herself to get sucked into the amulet.
“No!” Your thoughts were racing. You had to catch up with them. All that rushed through you was anger. You immediately went to charge at the General but Nitara had stopped you and hissed at you.
You gave her a look. “Am I supposed to be scared of a vampire?”
“Very.”
The two of you break out in fight. She wasn’t even close to your skill level, it was embarrassing. The fight only lasted for fifteen seconds and you had her knocked out on the ground cold.
Liu Kang ran up to you. “Mileena is trapped in the amulet. We can still save her.”
General Shao raised the amulet at the two, causing them to take a step back. It was a stare down until Sindel had kicked General Shao, knocking him to the ground. You picked up the amulet and all of you ran.
When it was safe, you handed Liu Kang the amulet. Liu Kang had held the amulet in the air and Mileena popped out. Sindel immediately ran over to hug Mileena. You just sighed in relief that she was okay.
When Mileena was done hugging her mother, she had saw you and immediately pulled you in for an embrace. “You are an idiot for doing that.” You mumbled in her neck.
She chuckled. “I’d watch who you call an ‘idiot’ to.”
Tumblr media
Sneaking into the camp was easy. Especially with your team. You and Mileena decided to split away from the group. It was then Ermac had came down. “Something tells me this guy isn’t our friend.” You stated.
You were in fact right. Ermac had used his power to lift both you and Mileena and throw you across the wall.
Mileena hissed in pain. She got up very quickly though. You however were still down. That worried her. She immediately came to your aid. “What is wrong?”
You had completely forgotten the slash on your stomach that Mileena had given you. You felt at your side and Mileena lifted up your shirt to see it. “By the Gods…how did this happen?”
“When we were fighting earlier…you had stabbed me.”
Mileena covered her mouth completely disgusted by her own actions. “I am so sorry, (Y/N).”
Seeing Mileena so worried about you made you feel bad. (Even though you were the one injured.) You just wanted to cheer her up. “It’s okay, firecracker. Don’t look so upset.”
“How could I not? I did this to you.” She used her hand to gently caress your face. The last thing she wanted to do was to hurt you.
Before you could reply, Ermac was back. “Not this guy again.” You tried to stand up but could not on your own. “Help me up.”
Mileena shook her head. “Stay down. I will protect you.”
“Mileena!”
It was too late, Mileena had already gone to fight Ermac. You felt useless. You wanted to help her so bad but you were in a great amount of pain. Ermac throwing you didn’t help.
Luckily for you, Mileena had won the fight. She came back to your side. “If your good at kombat then I wonder what else you’re good at.” You copied her words from long ago.
Mileena playfully rolled her eyes at you. “I bet you do wonder.” She said before helping you up.
The two of you started to walk away. A voice breaks your stride. “Mileena. Wait.”
You watch as Mileena pauses. She turned around and Ermac was no longer Ermac. He was Jerrod. “Father? It’s truly you?”
Ermac - now Jerrod’s glowing green eyes disappeared. “This body was created from the Living Forest’s souls. Mine was one of them. Your attack broke the spell that binds us. Now I am in control.”
Mileena hugged Jerrod immediately. You smiled at the sight. You were glad that Mileena had gotten her father back despite circumstances. They pulled away and you decided to speak. “Hope you’re not going to try and kill me again. Don’t exactly got the energy.”
Jerrod examined you like he was trying to figure you out. “You are an Earthrealmer?”
“Yes. I know, I know. Hold the applause.” You joked a little.
Mileena shook her head. She took your hand with hers and looked at her father. “Father, this is (Y/N). Earthrealm’s champion. She has beaten Outworld in the mortal Kombat tournament.”
The statement brought his eyes wide. “An Earthrealm champion as a woman? I have seen everything.”
“Hasn’t everybody?”
Mileena let go of your hand. “We must go.”
Tumblr media
They met up with everyone. Kitana and Sindel long awaited to be greeted by Jerrod. You guys were actually in the fortress. “Our odds will improve if we can surround them.” Sindel tells you all.
An idea came to your head. You looked over at Mileena. “You trust me?”
There was doubt in Mileena’s mind before but you had already proven to her you were more than worthy of her trust. She nodded. “Yes, (Y/N). With my whole heart.”
“Whole heart? That’s excessive.” Mileena swatted your shoulder at your comment and you snickered a little. “I have a plan but just follow my lead.” You look over to Liu Kang, your mentor and guide. “We got this. Get into position.”
Liu Kang trusted you with everything in his being so he nodded and watched you and Mileena walk out.
“Ow! Okay! Okay! I’m going!” You spoke, getting Shang Tsung’s attention.
Mileena understood what you were doing. She grabbed your arm roughly. (Not too roughly.) She made it seem as though you were captured. “Be quiet, Earthrealmer!”
Shang Tsung looked intrigued by this. “Princess Mileena?”
“I have captured Liu Kang’s champion. She tried to stop the reign of order. I figured you’d want her alive.” Mileena told them. “I bring news from Outworld. Sindel is deposed. General Shao now rules.”
Quan Chi looked impressed. “And yet you are still free.”
Mileena nodded. “To succeed, the General needed help on the inside. I provided it.”
“The heir to the throne gives it up willingly?”
“Ha! It’s a burden I’ve never wanted. The realm is better off left in General…” Mileena caught herself. “Emperor Shao’s hands.”
“A most mature perspective.” Shang Tsung stated. “Outworld benefits from your wisdom.”
You could not believe they were actually falling for it. We’re they actually that dumb? “Yes, Shang Tsung it does…but not in the manner that you expect.”
Everyone started to attack. You quickly disposed of many guards. After everyone was dealt with Liu Kang questioned Shang Tsung of who was his master.
“Speak of the devil…” Shang Tsung stated as the crown started to make noise. “Liu Kang…meet Damashi.”
Liu Kang raised a brow at this, not familiar with the name. “Damashi?”
The crown was suddenly raised in the air and there stood another Shang Tsung with an evil Sindel and a woman that looked just like you with obvious differences. “What in the actual…” You trailed off.
“You are the victim of the deception, sorcerer.” Liu Kang told him.
“What’s happening here?” Sindel questioned. “Who is he?”
“This Shang Tsung is whom I battled for the hourglass. I thought him dead.”
“As I did you, Liu Kang.” The Titan Shang Tsung said. “It turns out our battle released mammoth energies which ripped apart time’s fabric. They had two conclusions. In one, I was the victor…in the other it was you. It was eons before I discovered this. Once I did I knew the path forward.” He then changed into a mysterious woman. “I took this form and infiltrated your timeline. I elevated these wretches giving them great power. Together they sowed discord among the realms and assembled for me the Dragon Army. I led them to believe they were aiding my conquest of Earthrealm and Outworld. But my intent is to exterminate all life in this timeline and merge it into my own.” He then changed back into his usual self.
All you could do is cross your arms. “Wow. Obsess much? I mean really you don’t have anything better to do?”
Titan Shang Tsung did not say a word. He crushed the crown, releasing all the souls contained inside. “Maybe I should stop talking…” You trailed off.
“Goodbye, Liu Kang. Neither you nor your timeline will be missed.” He disappeared leaving evil Sindel and evil you there.
Everyone started to charge at Evil Sindel but she screamed so loud that it blew all of you back.
Evil (Y/N) hand raised high in the air and then pounded the ground with electricity shocking them. You went to punch her but (Y/N) had easily caught it. “Liu Kang has made you weak. You cannot beat me.” She told you before throwing you across the floor.
“(Y/N)!” Mileena rushed to your side.
You groaned in pain. “I’m really sick of people throwing me today.” You noticed Mileena start to change. “Mileena…”
“She will pay!” Her razor teeth were sharp. Her eyes glowed and there was no stopping her. She immediately attacked (Y/N).
Your eyes started to close. You felt the blood coming out of you fast and suddenly everything for you went black.
TO BE CONTINUED…

People who say Gale “isn't over his ex” or just him even speaking of his ex and having that be a red flag is… first of all HAVE YOU EVER HAD AN EX? Second of all Mystra is A GODDESS. LITERALLY.
It’s just really strange that people want to hate on Gale for talking about his ex. OR for even claiming to have complicated feelings towards her. (He says that in-game) It’s normal to have complicated feelings towards a past partner. They were a part of your life. Gale acknowledges his feelings and then makes it clear that he doesn’t love Mystra. IDK what more people want.
His ex happens to be a goddess and that makes things ten times more complicated. I know that puts some people off his romance and that's fine I just get bothered when they label Gale as toxic or even manipulative/evil because of it.
I couldn't agree more. Plus, he's been alone for over a year, and his only thoughts during that time consisted of Mystra and dying. He feels bad for letting her down, which he tells you, and he still blames himself for everything. In Act 1, he hasn't yet realised his relationship was abusive, with an unfair power dynamic, and he's still lamenting everything he lost, holding out hope that Mystra will save him.
Tumblr media
I also don't understand why people get upset when he projects Mystra's image in camp. At that point, you're not in a relationship. He doesn’t even know you like him. He's genuinely surprised and caught off guard when you show interest. That entire scene is, in fact, utterly platonic. You're the one who can turn it romantic, just like with the magic lesson, which is now separate after the patches. You literally have to click the "it's a good night for intimacy" option.
Tumblr media
Later on, when you are in a relationship, and if you specifically ask him about Mystra, he admits his feelings for her are complicated, but only in the sense that he isn't sure if he should hate her, blame her, or disregard her completely. He makes sure to emphasise there's "no love lost between us", because he realises she never truly loved him. As you pointed out, anon, this is perfectly normal for anyone who's been through an abusive relationship. This is the equivalent of getting mad at a child who still loves their abusive parents. It's difficult for them, and you need to be patient while they learn the truth.
Tumblr media
Moreover, I've noticed a lot of people have this "I want to be their first" mentality, but that's very unlikely, especially nowadays. Most people have been with at least one partner before finding the right one, and I don't know why that should be different for fantasy characters. The fact that Gale prefers you over a goddess (and straight up tells you you're better in bed) is nothing short of endearing. All that power and experience and Mystra has nothing on you. 😏

I cannot get over how Obsessed Belos is with Caleb. It’s SO wild, and the deeper you dig the sadder and more disturbing it becomes.
Like,,, Caleb was literally all he had growing up. Their parents were gone, they were (presumably) homeless, they were two street rats trying their best to make it on their own. Caleb was the older sibling, so the weight of caring for Philip fell on his shoulders, even though he was just a kid himself.
And considering the motif of coping through stories (Luz finding comfort in Azura after her dad’s death, Hunter finding comfort in Cosmic Frontier while trying to cope with the fact that he’s a clone), I wouldn’t be surprised if Caleb tried to do something similar for Philip. From Belos’s memories, we can see they used to play pretend a LOT. It’s a lot less scary for a young child if they believe they’re going on wild and wacky adventures than to know the truth – that they’re homeless orphans, moving into a community that regularly hangs people for witchcraft, with Caleb having to do hard labor to afford food and housing and sending his brother to school, while having to sacrifice his own education and skip meals so Philip doesn’t need to go hungry.
Caleb used stories to shield Philip from the worst of their life, which blinded Philip to just how bad his brother was suffering. To Philip, life in Gravesfield was good, but it was only good because of how much Caleb was sacrificing for him.
So when Caleb met Evelyn, of course he took the chance to escape his shitty life. It may have even been a situation like Luz, where he only expected to be gone for a short time, and either returned to find Philip gone, or ended up being trapped on the Isles for longer than he’d anticipated.
Philip, meanwhile, is fucking Losing It. Caleb was his whole world, and now he's just gone, spirited away by an evil witch just like those stories they’d been playing out their whole lives. It may even be a situation like King, where Caleb knew he wasn’t being truthful with the witch hunter stories, but Philip genuinely believed them all.
So Philip goes into the Demon Realm, determined to rescue his brother. He’s practiced this, he’s trained for this, he just needs to find Caleb, save him from whatever tortures that witch has been inflicting on him, open up a portal back to Gravesfield, and everything will go back to normal. So he travels, he meets witches, he kills them, he either gets cursed or discovers that eating Palismen gives him funny powers, so he keeps doing that.
And then, after years of searching, he finds Caleb. Not chained up in a dungeon, or turned into a frog, or a shambling husk of his former self, but free. Happier and healthier than Philip has ever seen him.
Philip tries to grab Caleb and leave with him, but Caleb refuses. The witch who lured him away is his wife now. He’s got a house and a job and a kid on the way. He’s got a Palisman, this stupid fucking red bird that follows him everywhere. Caleb’s good here. He’s not leaving.
And I think Philip just fucking loses it at that point. What do you MEAN you’re not leaving?! We were adventurers! We were gonna be witch hunters together! We were going to do everything together! Did she do something to you? Did you just hate me that much?
Caleb tries to de-escalate, but eventually loses his temper himself. We weren’t adventurers, we were street rats! I was working so YOU could go to school, I was starving myself so YOU wouldn’t have to, I sacrificed EVERYTHING so you’d have a chance at life! You’re old enough to handle yourself now, it’s time to grow up and let me live my own life!
Phil’s not having it. There’s a fight, someone draws a knife, and… we all know how that one ends.
Fast-forward a bit. Philip, now alone and stranded on the Isles, has latched onto the stories he and Caleb used to play pretend with. He’s going to make them come true. He’s going to kill every witch in one fell swoop, become Witch Hunter General, and he’s going to do all of it with his brother by his side.
So he asks for the Collector’s help, and together, they make a Grimwalker.
Philip decides that this is his chance. He can raise this new Caleb properly, make sure that his brother isn’t swayed by the evils of witchcraft again. The new Caleb doesn’t look exactly the same but it’s fine. Having him back is good enough.
And then the new Caleb betrays him too.
Maybe he befriended some witches, maybe he tried to learn magic, maybe he had some reservations about the whole genocide plan. Either way, this Caleb has gone the same way as the first.
So Philip kills him, and starts over with a new Grimwalker. This time he’s gonna get it right. This Caleb is gonna be the one.
But he’s not. He betrays Philip again. So Philip starts over again, tightening the leash this time. New-new-new Caleb can’t leave his sight, isn’t allowed to talk to people without Philip there, because it’s dangerous. But strict parents make sneaky children, and Philip catches new-new-new Caleb making out with a secret witch partner behind his back.
Philip realizes he needs to change his approach. Caleb isn’t listening to him? Well, he’ll make him listen. He makes the next one younger, establishes himself as an authority figure (dad feels too personal, so uncle it is), and makes himself the focal point of this new Caleb’s life. Continuing to call him Caleb feels weird, especially since there’s such a significant age difference between them now, so he gives this one a new name.
They’re going to be witch hunters, so he names the new one Hunter. It’s hilarious when you think about it.
And so the cycle continues. Hunter is born, grows up, rebels, and is killed. Over and over and over again. Philip grows numb to it at this point – he’s already killed dozens of them, and he doesn’t see them as individuals anyway. To him, it’s like a game, resetting and starting over from the last checkpoint to really, really get everything right this time.
He adopts his new identity as Belos, and lets Hunter believe it too. He preaches to towns, pulls more and more power towards himself, with Hunter by his side, his Golden Guard, the most perfect version of Caleb he can make.
They keep betraying him though, so with each iteration, the leash gets tighter. The Hunters become more and more isolated, Belos’s power over them greater and greater. Step out of line and be beaten, show disrespect and be verbally abused, betray him (which can be anything from actively trying to stop his plans to making a friend he didn’t approve of) and be killed, replaced with another Grimwalker.
Belos becomes Emperor of the Isles, and his Grimwalkers become his right hand men, answering only to him. Caleb by his side, just like he’d always wanted. Never mind that the Grimwalkers are nothing like Caleb now – they’re submissive, desperate for affection and attention. They’re afraid of Belos, but cling to him all the same, because he’s all they have. He’s made sure of that.
A few years before the Day of Unity, the culmination of his life's work, Hunter betrays him again. Belos got too lenient, allowed him to take on a student, and now he’s got all sorts of weird ideas in his head again. So he starts over, and this time, he makes sure that Hunter will stay pure and obedient until the Day of Unity.
No contact with the other scouts. No scroll, no crystal ball, no leaving the castle unless it’s for a mission. Keep the number of missions to a minimum, make him associate getting missions with good behavior. Monitor his training, monitor what he studies, keep him safe under lock and key. Make him desperate to please, never quite give him what he needs so he keeps clinging to you for more.
And it works. For a while. At least, until literally a week before the Day of Unity, Hunter shows up in Philip’s mind. And I mean, Philip doesn’t necessarily want to ruin this one, but he’s always liked testing loyalty. He can make another Grimwalker after the Day of Unity if this one fails.
And fail Hunter does, except… he doesn’t die. He escapes. Goes on the run.
Philip tries to get him back, sends out search parties and everything, but Hunter doesn’t turn up, and he’s got other priorities now. It’s fine, Hunter’s got a sigil. He’ll die during the Day of Unity anyway.
And then he fucking shows up to stop him! Him, a gaggle of witch kids, and Luz the Human, and they nearly fight Philip to a standstill! They nearly get the better of him! Philip tries to guilt trip Hunter back to his side – surely he doesn’t want to hurt his beloved uncle – but then what does he see? That Fucking Bird. Caleb’s bird. This one’s DEFINITELY gone too far now, murder mode it is.
But then oops, the Collector gets freed, Philip gets splattered against a wall, and the Draining Spell ends.
However, Phil’s not dead, somehow. He manages to shift his consciousness to one glob of goop that lands on Hunter, and rides along to the human realm, determined to salvage the dumpster fire this whole thing has become.
He gains back strength, spies on the kids, watches as Hunter does boring child stuff that’s absolutely nothing like how Caleb acted, until… Hunter finds a bit of his goop, and like a dumbass, sticks his finger into it. And Philip, who by now has gotten the hang of this whole Venom-stuff, crawls inside a wound, and into Hunter’s bloodstream.
And as he grows in strength, he realizes. This is it. This is the culmination of everything. Hunter isn’t Caleb, but dammit, he’s close enough. Philip can save him now, save him from these witches who have been a terrible influence on him, he can finally, finally complete his great work, with his brother by his side.
So when he gets strong enough, he takes over. Consumes whatever energy Hunter had stored in fat cells and his magic heart and uses it to power himself, growing himself throughout the kid’s whole body. Taking him over.
He’s finally united with Caleb again, he can finally finish what he started. Never mind that Hunter doesn’t want this. Never mind that Hunter fucking hates him for what he did. Never mind that Hunter isn’t Caleb, never mind that Caleb would never, ever have wanted this, never mind that Philip is now the corrupting force, it does. Not. Matter.
And then “Caleb” betrays him again. Because of fucking course he does. Philip literally fucking invaded his body like a parasite and made him kill his own Palisman with his bare hands, and he expected Hunter to just fucking lie down and take it? To let him do whatever? He robbed Hunter of his childhood, of his autonomy, of his personhood, and he expected the kid to not just accept it, but be grateful for it?
Well... Yeah. That’s how far gone he is. That’s how far removed from reality Philip has become. “Caleb” isn’t even a person to him anymore, “Caleb” is some kind of personification of his childhood nostalgia that he keeps trying to bring back into the flesh. And it’s not gonna work, because nobody could ever fill that role. Even the original Caleb wouldn’t be able to fill that role – in fact, that’s why Philip stuck a knife in his chest in the first place!
He’s lost EVERYTHING. He’s killed his own brother, he’s reduced himself to a parasitic goop monster that’s no longer living yet unable to die, the plan he’s spent 400 years working on blew up in his face, the realm he spent so long fighting for has moved on without him, and his latest attempt to create a new Caleb to comfort him not only rejected him, but actively despises him now. No fucking wonder he’s gone even more batshit insane.
I don’t know where the story is gonna go from here. Philip is still obviously trying to carry out his genocide, and Hunter is on the fucking war path now, so I have zero doubt that there’s going to be some sort of clash between those two. Hunter now also presumably has access to Flapjack’s memories, so him gaining memories of Caleb is also not out of the question.
Either way, Philip’s just gonna become Even More Not Normal about his brother, and I for one cannot wait.

Women existing as a class means that a women’s natural self interest aligns with the overthrow of patriarchy.
What does this mean in a concrete and embodied context?
It means that beneath the denial and the coping mechanisms, all women know intuitively that men hold them back from living free and full lives.
We all grow up in a world we quickly realize is not fair to us and is controlled by men. All women have experienced and witnessed male domination, but most tend to rely on coping mechanisms to obscure their own inner knowing. Seeing male power as a young girl is usually overwhelming, the body and mind shut down and shut it out to protect themselves.
So much of the power of the Second Wave lied in consciousness raising exercises where women were able to discuss their own experiences with each other in private contexts overriding the urge for women to deny and minimize their own suffering. Through this process of intimacy building women could come to terms with reality in safe environment. This was a *process*. Most women weren’t born feminists or were strong enough to cope alone. That doesn’t make them bad people, it just makes women human. Together they were able to reveal the truth to themselves and each other. Communities made these women stronger.
We really have so much room to grow as a movement. So many women are desperately looking for answers. So many women are struggling under the current economic circumstances. Male depravity is at an all time high. Protect yourself from women who are a danger to you, of course, but don’t discount their potential. All women have the potential to become feminists. All women have the capacity to tune into themselves and begin acting in their own self interest. All women secretly long to be free.

Ok so after a bit of me actually taking time to think about the collectors situation this is my sort of realized opinion: (warning: it is very long)
As I saw someone else state, the collector was previously imprisoned for like hundreds of years on the isles. Probably not a nice memory to have. Although, it was pretty much only with you know who, so it’s not like he’s gotten sick of or holds a feeling to flee the entire demon realm itself. But I dont feel bad if he wants some space (haha)
Aside from his siblings, there wasn’t really a specified thing for him to dislike the stars in any way. If anything he felt more comfortable there. he probably misses it a little bit, given the starry aesthetic of the archives and stuff. NOW don’t take this as me saying he is better off there. If anything, I am still a little nervous about the whole situation. The ambiguity of “the stars”, while I like in a petty fashion, doesn’t give much confirmation on what he’s actually dealing with. It is something familiar at least, but we don’t even know if it’s literally space or just another realm (parallel to the demon realm or human realm). If I had to hope of anything though, that if they meet their siblings, he beats them to a pulp. Fuck them. I don’t think he’d get tricked by them again, since he’s clearly figured out their shit even before season 3. Overall, I wish they elaborated on the realm before having him just whizz off there at the end. It could be good or bad, but in the end we do sort of have a reason to feel “wait wtf come back” and “where are you going??” In a way.
NOW the other thing! That people who are angry about this situation are bringing up (and that I mainly agree with). Which is the whole “found family” message of the show, and also the “nobody argued” line. Now, thinking about it from the shoes of Luz/Eda: powerful being who sort of just brainwashed (? Idk what to call the puppet situation. Controlled..? Eh, you know what I mean) a shit ton of people and doesn’t seem to care about their well being. Face-value. BUT!! (Big but) They also see that this being is a child that genuinely does want normal things like love and truth, but doesn’t understand concepts like death and friendship. They see a kid that is really upset, but trying their best to make others perceive themselves as “approachable” and/or worthy of their time (oof). Overall, trying his very best. Luz specifically sees all of this, and even makes an effort to congratulate the Collector when he attempts to take what she said into heart. He IS perfectly capable of expressing himself in a healthy way, he really just needs a proper parental figure to help him out. (Stares aggressively at Camila until she burns up). He’s not “uncontrollable”, he’s just lived the past few years with a crusty old puritan and has essentially learned the exact opposite of what he’s trying to accomplish.
Then, we get to the scene where the “nobody argued” line hits. Oog. I can understand that they think he should take time to himself after all of… that. And they probably respect his choice to mature too. ALTHOUGH. Like, after everything I’ve previously pointed out… wouldn’t any of them be a t i n y bit concerned about him going off all alone again? His whole ordeal these years has him being afraid of being alone!! He is ofc welcomed to the owl house, and can return whenever he likes, but, just like us, we don’t know crap about the star realm. The only things they know is that out there, he has shit siblings that fucked him up. Wouldn’t at least some of them be concerned? I do have a feeling he is going to be fine (we “sort” of see him in the credits so he’s alive which is to be expected). But still, in that moment, it would be weird that “no one argued”. All I would have wanted was someone to say “but will you be ok alone?” And then saying “oh yeah! I like it there, I know how to get around/ I have people there that I am cool with 👍” and then that. Like a little thing… idk. I do like that idea that after a few days he comes back because he realizes “actually I am mentally 9 (and possibly autistic) I don’t know how to figure out social cues on my own.” Like again there could be star people who are cool and will fill that place, but that’s only speculation. This whole time they were building up the idea that he shouldn’t be alone and needs others to figure stuff out! Because he was with Luz, only for a little bit, he absorbed the idea that giving kindness, when it’s deserved, is a better way to make friends than forcing people. And because he was with Luz, he learned (the hard way) how scary and forever death really is. Then in that ending scene with him, he just… figures he will be cool without them for a bit, and they agree too. (?) rehghfjk. This wasn’t a totally terrible decision, but the ambiguity of it just!! Makes it reasonably to feel ok with. How long will he be gone at a time? Are there other people he will be with? We aren’t exactly given an answer. We get allusions, but that’s it.
I am at least glad that King, of all people, would tell them that he wishes the collector would come back soon. (Was that another way of them saying he would come back sooner than later? It’s not confirmed so idk) I like this because, well, King was essentially the person that the Collector was closest to. (Besides Belos but he was the exact opposite on the spectrum of cool people to hang out with) King, as a kid himself, would relate most to him. He says that himself in FTF. He is understandably pissed at the whole puppet thing, but he understands that “I should address this but also acknowledge he doesn’t know better to an extent”. King would want to treat the Collector as he would himself, and how he knows how important having a family, whether it is blood or found, is important to oneself. King wouldn’t be half the character he is nowadays if it wasn’t for Eda and Luz to accompany him. When he told the collector “I hope to see you again” that makes sense; he knows that the collector would benefit from having people like how he did, and it would be beneficial, regardless if the collector does get proper parental figures in the star realm, if he would see them often. And ofc, he would probably genuinely want to hang out with them as well. He was glad to be their friend, to an extent. He was never totally unhappy about his situation in FTF. Also, him giving the Collector Francois at the end was really cute. Just in case he needs a buddy until he gets there. As far as we know, the collector needs Francois more than King does. And I think King knows that.
Ok so I think that’s it for my thoughts. If I suddenly remember something I will add it in. I’m not saying that I’m right or wrong, this is just how I genuinely feel. Feel free to comment your own opinions!! I am open to have my mind changed. In the end, I guess I just want the best for my little blorbo. Can you blame me…??

OMG HEAVY ONE THE "...continuing to say such stuff will only irritate them even more. >_<" There are several points in each of the diaboys routes were Yui could've left them alone and be good for that day but noooo ( 。 •̀ ᴖ •́ 。) for example in Kanatos HDB Dark prologue this man literally wanted to be left alone in peace to look at the rain but then Yui comes in trying to make conversation he keeps the conversation curt then she offers to make him a drink then he proceeds to pour the hot drink on her hands 😮‍💨. Also for clarification I understand it's for the plot and that those scenes are just to demonstrate that Yui is kind person who's always concerned for others but at the same time YUII THEY'RE VAMPIRES (also I dont condone victim blaming sorry if it came off like that!)
// I suppose they wrote her in HDB like that only for the sake of DO-S interactions, even if Yui ended up getting the short end of the stick. While it’s true that you have to leave people alone when they tell you to, most otome heroines have plot armor so no matter how bad their choices are, the players know that they can’t be killed outside of the bad endings.
I admire her strength and compassion in HDB and MB but I feel that her character has progressively devolved? Don't get me wrong, I still adore her, but the narrative continues forcing her to make really alarming statements or take concerning actions. It’s not necessarily Yui’s fault, she’s just a fictional character after all, but the writers are to blame.
LE Yui was… something else for sure. Ruki’s LE route could have been the perfect chance for the Mukamis to let go of the Karlheinz fanaticism and continue loving one another as a family but nooo, after finding out that Karl committed a Romanian genocide, Yui had to make him look like their savior instead.

No girl, you’re not doing any good to the Mukami brothers like that, you’re just feeding into their delusions…. Karlheinz never felt bad for any of his actions (otherwise he would have rewinded time) and he merely used everyone for his plan. They deserved to know the truth about him.
Another scene is from Ayato’s LE route in which Yui goes to Ruki and Reiji, who are their ENEMIES there, and is like: “Ayato-kun is feeling lonely 🥺” but ends up getting made fun of and bitten by Reiji. I get that she was trying to help but not only did she put herself in danger but I also can’t believe she genuinely thought Reiji and Ruki would care about Ayato feeling down when she was supposed to know their personalities already. On top of that, the fact she went there all alone without telling Ayato, made him get mad at her, given that he felt abandoned and wasn’t expecting her to suddenly return bitten by someone else. Honestly, he absolutely ate when he told her this:

This one isn’t from LE and I defended her here at some point but this official short story takes place after the DF good ending and… why would you remind him that he got the cursed powers of the person who ruined his and everyone else’s life—?

Look, Yui is a wonderful person who never means any harm and she doesn’t deserve the hate, since she’s a victim too, but she (and everyone else) definitely deserves criticism or being scolded in certain situations. You can be kind but still be cautious with whom you share your kindness and when it is appropriate to do so.

"But the world’s an ugly place. Buttering up the truth with ideas of fate, like we’re all pulled in by gravity to some predetermined result no matter what we do, doesn’t make it any better."
Read Iron Touch, a JoJo fanpart starring Polnareff’s daughter, Michelle, after Passione’s Stand arrow is stolen.
Official synopsis and the start of Chapter 1 below the cut:
Official synopsis:
May 19th, 2009: the unthinkable has happened—Passione's prized Stand arrow has been stolen. The perpetrators appear to be a group of unidentified Stand users hiding their faces behind masquerade masks. Giorno suspects who one of the thieves may be, and it's the last person Polnareff wanted to get involved.
Or, in which Polnareff’s daughter goes on her own wacky quest and learns some self-love along the way. Hol Horse is there too, though he'd really rather not be.
Chapter 1: Revelations
Giorno had always considered himself to be a fairly competent man.
To most people, competent was an understatement; a blatant example of unwarranted modesty. From the members of Passione who had witnessed his growth as a leader firsthand to the rival gangs across the globe he had crushed underfoot to the kind old ladies he always offered help to, competent didn’t even come close to expressing Giorno’s natural ability to adapt to and overcome any obstacle that stood in his way. Even before having been blessed by the power of Requiem and thrust into the position of mafia boss at the ripe old age of 15, everyone had considered him to be wise beyond his years, complimented by street smarts and a silver tongue. Yes, competent was usually a perfectly acceptable way to describe Giorno Giovanna.
So it only made moments like this, where Giorno felt so completely incompetent, all the more embarrassing.
He still had a hard time believing that such a thing had happened right under his nose. A childish part of him prayed that none of this was real, that it was a nightmare or some kind of twisted joke set up by Mista as vengeance for putting him in a team of four on his last mission. The embarrassment of being so incompetent was already bad enough, but the potential ramifications for this one error were far more daunting.
Someone had stolen the arrow.
An uncomfortable, almost itchy feeling coursed through Giorno's body at the thought, like a snake slithering up his back and threatening to bite his neck. He fluffed the pillow behind him, swatting at it. This was wrong. It was all wrong. The room inside Coco Jumbo was supposed to be a place of cozy isolation, a place where he could relax and decompress between missions, not a place for him to have a borderline panic attack in. He hadn't felt this way since he was a child, hiding under his bead from his stepfather's screeching threats and leather belt. Although, no amount of privacy could spare him from the shame he felt. Nor should it, the arrow was Giorno's responsibility after all. It was his duty to get it back.
Besides, he wasn't completely alone.
Whilst Giorno sat on the couch fluffing pillows, Polnareff paced around the room's exterior. The cheap prosthetic legs that adorned his stumps never failed to catch Giorno's eye. It just looked strange for him to be walking around on them, like they ought to give out under the weight of the rest of his body. In lieu of the usual cheeky "my eyes are up here" response Giorno usually got for staring, he only got the faint sound of his footsteps clanging against the floor. Slight as it may be, the metallic sound of each step made Giorno's stomach turn. If only I got there sooner, he thought, if only I had gotten to the colosseum before Diavolo that night, I might've been able to restore your legs. If only I had got there sooner, you might still be alive and not chained to this room.
Even through his unkempt hair, wrinkled suit, and heavy bags that weighed his eyelids down, Giorno admitted that Polnareff undoubtedly looked worse than he did. All of his frustration was laid bare on his face; his brows arched upwards, eyes unfocused yet brimming with inner conflict as he surveyed the room, the occasional vexed sigh escaping his lips. Considering everything that Polnareff did in order to keep the arrow away from those who would misuse it, his reaction was justified. Additionally, when considering other recent revelations, Giorno figured that he would be just as distressed as Polnareff were he in his prosthetics. Tired of pacing around the same four corners, the Frenchman flumped into one of the armchairs and laid his head in his hands.
"Would you like to go over everything again?" Giorno asked mostly because the useless silence between them tired him. "Now that we've had the chance to sleep on it, we may discover something we had overlooked before."
After taking a deep breath to steel himself, Polnareff lowered his arms but did not look up to meet Giorno's gaze. "That sounds like a good idea," he responded.
Nodding in approval, Giorno began to sort through the mess of documents laying on the coffee table. The regretful, lingering stare Polnareff kept on two of the papers that had been brushed to the side did not go unnoticed as Giorno attempted to line up all of the relevant files in front of them.
“So,” Giorno began, “Tuesday, May 19th, 2009.” He shook away the self-reproach clawing through his thoughts. It had already been three days. “At 3:47 AM, a suspicious man was seen loitering outside of our base of operation. Tall, pale skin, mint green hair. Armed with a Desert Eagle.” In one of the images taken from the security footage, the man sneered at the camera, cigarette clenched between his pearly whites. Giorno couldn’t help but scowl his cheekiness. “He stayed outside the building, standing at the corner of the sidewalk by himself for eight minutes. At 3:55, two other individuals joined him, both wearing dark blue masquerade masks and hooded robes. Both are shorter than the other man, but given how tall he is, that doesn’t narrow anything down.”
He slumped back into the sofa. “It bothers me that only two of them made an attempt to disguise themselves,” he commented, “The fact that he got there first seems to suggest that he’s either their leader or a decoy. Given what ended up happening, I’d say it’s the latter, but,” Giorno glared at the knowing look that the man had flashed at the camera, “I have my doubts.”
He looked up at Polnareff, waiting for his consigliere to give his thoughts. About six seconds of silence passed before Giorno cleared his throat to summon Polnareff’s attention away from the stray documents. It took another moment or so after that for him to register that Giorno expected his input, after which he sat up a bit straighter and finally let his eyes scan over the other papers.
“He could’ve just been full of himself,” Polnareff added, his stare wandering back to those same two papers, “not every man is as committed to keeping themselves hidden as Diavolo was.”
“But you would think that he would at least be someone we knew if that were the case,” Giorno rebutted, “like someone from a rival gang or someone with the government. If he was someone new who wanted to make himself known, he did a laughably poor job.” Giorno grabbed an autopsy report from the table. “We have this man’s corpse but not so much as his name.”
Polnareff sighed. “That is also true,” he said, his voice tired.
“Either way, I had Sheila E use her Stand on the street corner the three of them waited at, as well as the rest of the area to see if they talked about anything. Unfortunately, it seems that they were prepared for that.” Giorno rested his thumb and pointer finger on his chin, deep in thought. “That alone is enough to raise suspicion. And, along with the fact that they knew exactly where the arrow was hidden, then as much as I hate to say it, at least one of the perpetrators could be someone from within Passione.” The very thought of a traitor within their ranks brought about a suffocating tension to the room. Giorno could practically hear Diavolo’s mad laughter ringing in his ears; how ironic that both of them would be undone by one of their underlings.
“We shouldn't forget that we've taken precautions in order to make sure that’s not the case.” At this point, Giorno was all but talking to himself. “It could just be that whoever we’re dealing with is very cautious. Even within Passione, most of our members don’t know the Stands of those outside their own teams. Sheila and her teammates are my bodyguards, if I can trust anyone, it’s them.” He hoped so at least, especially given that Giorno had left Mista in charge of affairs in his absence. “Their alibis are also—”
A sudden bump in the road caused the room to jolt. The papers on the table scattered on impact, turning the organized mess into a more standard one. Shaken from his trance, Polnareff nearly jumped out of his own ethereal skin from the unexpected force. Giorno sighed and began to reorganize the papers. After taking a moment to gather his bearings, Polnareff assisted him.
"Giorno," he said, putting some papers back in their folder for known suspects, "I understand we're traveling incognito, but we really should consider taking more comfortable means of transport in the future."
Giorno laid the timeline out once again and grabbed the basket of fruit that sat on the end table. "This was the best I could get for us under such short notice." He began to lay out the fruit on top of the papers, giving them extra weight to pin them in place. "I don't need to tell you that traveling via plane in these types of situations is a bad idea."
Polnareff observed Giorno take the two papers that called for his gaze and place them in his coat pocket.
Before he could interject, Giorno continued speaking. "Now then," he said, brushing some stray curls behind his ear, "at 4 AM sharp, our building lost power. Our security cameras, smoke detectors, laser grids…all of it shut down. We were the only building in the area to experience a power outage. Sometime soon after, the thieves blew a hole through the side of the building, about two meters tall and two meters wide, and broke in. Shards of glass were found near the scene even though all of our windows remained intact through the ordeal."
Giorno returned his attention back to the timeline. "From this point on the details are a little fuzzy, but we do know a few things for certain." He removed the apple weighing down the stack of autopsy reports, simultaneously taking the papers and a bite from the apple. "Eleven of the twelve guards on duty were killed via electrocution. The only guard who survived, his name was Mente Vettore, shot the green haired man four times in the head, just outside the hidden room where we keep the arrow. He died on the spot and never even removed his gun from his holster."
He took another bite of the apple. "Vettore fired two more shots, hitting the wall and a chair, but he didn't seem to hit the other two assailants. He would've had four more shots left, but there’s no evidence to suggest he fired any more bullets. Around the same time, another hole was blown in the wall, revealing our hidden vault. Just like with the other hole, shards of broken glass were found by the impact. The vault we kept the arrow stored in was also destroyed. At 4:15, the power came back on, and the two masked assailants were already long gone. Vettore has also gone missing. We arrived at the scene ten minutes later."
Giorno picked up the profiles of the two masked assailants they had drafted up. "From what I can tell, the power outage must've been caused by a Stand. That same Stand is probably what electrocuted the guards. My guess is that it's a Stand with the ability to steal electricity, store it, then channel it somehow. I don't think it's what blew holes in the walls though. I think a different Stand did that, and it's likely linked to the broken glass in some way." He placed the profiles down and retrieved an autopsy report. "Interestingly enough, the man with green hair doesn't seem to be a Stand user. We couldn't gleam anything else of note from his autopsy. His fingerprints have been sanded off, his blood and face don't match up with any on record, we couldn't even discern where his clothes are from."
Trading the autopsy report for a mission log, he choked down yet another bite of the apple. “I had Murolo send All Along Watchtower out for reconnaissance. He spotted the arrow yesterday just outside of Orléans, carried by another masked individual. We don't know if they're one of the thieves or someone else. They were headed north towards Paris, which is where we’re on our way to now.”
Taking a final bite of his apple, Giorno looked up to his consigliere. "So," he said, "do you have anything to add, Polnareff?"
He took a moment to examine the mess of papers, reorienting himself so he faced them head on as he ran a hand through his column of silver hair. Polnareff still seemed unfocused, perhaps even more so than before, though Giorno noticed that he made an obvious effort to hide it.
"We should've kept the arrow in the turtle," Polnareff quipped.
Giorno shook his head. "It would've been a bad idea to keep it here. It was starting to affect the turtle. We wouldn't have felt those tremors earlier if we had never put the arrow in here. This would've been the perfect hiding place for the arrow, but it's not worth risking sacrificing you over."
Staring at the ceiling, Polnareff groaned with uncertainty. "I guess," he muttered.
For a while, the two of them just stayed like that, with Polnareff's sights fixated upwards and Giorno looking back at him with concern. Only the faint sound of the engine and the occasional cluck of a chicken bleeding into the room from outside accompanied them. Though he normally strived for this quiet, almost contemplative atmosphere, Giorno figured it wouldn’t do to leave off the conversation like this. It was time to address the elephant in the room.
"There's also the subject of your family…"
Polnareff instantly locked eyes with Giorno, ready and alert. Chuckling at his immediate shift in attitude, Giorno pulled the two papers from his coat pocket, reading the names at the top.
MARYLOU POLNAREFF, NÉE DELON (DECEASED)
MICHELLE POLNAREFF (AGE 17, STATUS UNKNOWN)
"I can't believe you hid the fact that you have a wife and daughter for eight years," Giorno commented, shaking his head in disbelief.
(Alright, that’s enough from me. Now go read the rest on AO3)

I feel like Barfugo writing Aleksander as super old (And dedicated to his goals since 13) really didn't help her "DaRkLiNg BaD" campaign. She should have had the Fold be a new creation and Darkling as a young man who resorted to violence first.
There’s more:
The Darkling is described as a person, who doesn’t use brute force, when it can be avoided.
Nichevoy’a- his “evil” creations- are used in place of soldiers, effectively saving lives, while he’s literally tearing pieces of himself to create these creatures.
He doesn’t enjoy cruelty, merely uses it as a tool.
The Darkling never claims to be some Übermensch. All his “superiority” is in experience and raw power- both objectively true.
He loves his people- Grisha and otkazat’sya Ravkans alike- and while he cannot stop their suffering, he makes sure it counts.
He’s supportive, kind, he listens.
He puts interests of majority above his own. He gave up his personhood to focus better on his cause.
He’s willing to learn wherever he can. Both to make his own survival easier and to find a way to help Grisha.
Introducing other Immortals ironically rised a question:
If they knew about Aleksander and his efforts, why did none of them teach him?
Why didn't they help him?
Why didn't they try the same, independently on him?
Why didn’t fucking Juris share "the truth" about amplifers, when Sasha started gathering Grisha to better protect them?
But to be fair, we don't even need KoS newbies for that. There's his own mother and her grudging support of whoever's more likely to avoid saving the world, when she can't be left the fuck alone to rot in comfort.
