"- 'proshippers' or whatever the fuck you people are calling yourselves now -"
It's. It's still just "proshippers". It's you guys (antis) and the fence-straddlers trying to have their cake and eat it too that keep creating random new phrases to "other" and distance themselves from us. We're here, unchanging, same as ever, in our corner with our silly little stories. We aren't the ones interested in coming up with 500 new labels for people who know that fiction isn't reality.

One of the more frequent anecdotes you'll hear from Dungeons & Dragons podcasters is that any time they switch to a system other than D&D, even for a one-off arc, they immediately experience a large drop in listenership – sometimes up to eighty percent! – only to see most of those listeners come back once they switch back to D&D.
What's interesting about this is that the greater part of D&D podcast listeners do not play Dungeons & Dragons. They might have a general idea of what the game's rules look like based on what they've been able to passively absorb from listening to the podcast, but they don't have regular groups, they don't own the rulebooks or maintain subscriptions to the e-book service, and many of them have never rolled a d20 in their lives.
How, then, do we account for that sudden drop in listenership? Why does which system a tabletop roleplaying podcast is using matter so much if most listeners neither know nor care about the rules?
The answer is, unfortunately, quite simple.
In many ways, advocacy for indie RPGs has never moved past Ron Edwards' infamous argument that playing Dungeons & Dragons causes actual, physical brain damage. Deep down, a lot of indie RPG advocacy seems to believe there's something sinister in the structure of D&D that's responsible for what they regard as its unaccountable popularity. You can see this in everything from the casual assumption that D&D players aren't "really" having fun (and all that's needed to convert them to other systems is to show them they've been tricked into falsely believing they're enjoying an objectively un-fun activity), to the rambling thinkpieces that talk about getting folks to try other games like they're liberating people from the fucking Matrix.
Yet we come back to the same problem: how can the mechanical structure of D&D be implicated for its culturally dominant position in the minds of those who've never picked up a twenty-sided die?
The truth is that Dungeons & Dragons enjoys cultural dominance, both within the hobby and elsewhere, because it's owned by the same multinational corporation that owns Monopoly and My Little Pony, and benefits from all the marketing strength its owner can bring to bear. The problem, in brief, is brand loyalty. The aforementioned podcasts lose listeners in droves whenever they give a non-D&D system a spin because all most of those departing listeners care about is whether the thing that they're listening to is called "Dungeons & Dragons". The structural particulars of the mechanics are irrelevant.
The bitter pill we've got to swallow as indie RPG authors is that we can't fix brand loyalty in tabletop RPGs by fucking around with the shape of the dice. There are lots of productive causes we can support to help address the problem, but they mostly have do to with intellectual property and antitrust regulations and such, which are areas where our finely honed ability to debate the correct way to pretend to be an elf is of very limited utility.
Like, I enjoy an abstruse argument about the ideology of dice-rolling as much as the next nerd, but let's not fool ourselves that we're speaking truth to power here. The gamer who just wants to roll dice to hit the dragon with their sword is not your enemy.

The way "alt" is done nowdays is so exasperating. People (rightfully) talk about how dark academia and cottagecore and those trends that imo aren't "alt" but are distinctive aesthetics are more in the business of looking like they're someone who reads a lot or someone who bakes and lives in the countryside respectively instead of putting any emphasis on actually reading a lot of learning substainability or homekeeping.
And the same happens with the way alt anything is being done lately and that's why so many people get so disproportionately angry and defensive when someone who's actually into a subCULTURE corrects them, especially if that person doesn't even "look" the part as much as their fake asses do.
No interest in actual countercultural politics, ideology, sentiment, praxis or even artistic expression or practice.
They want to look like they're someone who's into unfathomably obscure non-palatable music and ideas, without having to actually put any effort into cultivating their musical knowledge or identity. They want the whole VISUAL package immediately, but nothing else (hint: that's why you get called posers).
Reminds me a lot of this:
[Image description: TikTok stitch in which the first video shows user @/dormence with text printed in front of them that reads "Did you know that there's no "correct" way to dress for a goth club. The truth is that fashion is about dressing according to what's fashionable. Style is more about being yourself. Tip: Allow yourself to be ok with experimenting and blending your favorite styles until you refine into your own symbol 🖤"
The rest of the video is of user @/awfullysinister speaking to the camera.]
Transcript:
Here's a fun story for everybody. I've been involved in my local goth scene for about 10 years now, I've been going to clubs and shows and events for about 10 years, I've been a DJ in the scene for about 6 years.
A few years ago I got booked for a DJ gig for one of my friends' club nights. I was late, unfortunately. It happens. I got to the venue about 30 minutes after the night started and I looked pretty bad… Worse than usual. I didn't have my hair up, I wasn't dressed nice, I had gym shorts on and a hoodie… I just had all my stuff with me in a bag and was planning on changing in the bathroom.
And there's this guy there that was all dressed up. He's got leather pants with straps, Demonias, he's wearing a black buttoned down tshirt with a fishnet shirt underneath it, his face is full of makeup… He looked like a Chris Motionless wannabe, basically.
And as I'm walking in to walk toward the stage to put my stuff up there, then go to the bathroom to change, the Chris Motionless wannabe stops me. Like, he puts his hand out, like this, like, on my chest, and he looks at me and he goes "Oh, I'm sorry, are you lost?"
And I look at him like a deer in headlights, like… What…? He repeats the question, and I just stare at him and say "I'm DJing tonight…" and he returns the look.
Anyway, I just brush past him and I go do my thing. It was a great night, I had a great crowd to my set, everybody was dressed in all sorts of ways; some people were really dressed up, some people were just wearing a tshirt and jeans, nothing special, but they were all dancing, they were all having fun.
The Chris Motionless wannabe didn't dance ONCE, and for what I saw, it didn't look like he was having fun, it looked like he was just standing around trying to look cool. In fact, at the end of the night, one of my friends told me that a guy that kinda looked like Chris Motionless remarked about how he hated the music and wished it was heavier. I don't know exactly what that means, I'm going to assume that he wanted to hear Metal.
That was about 3 years ago, and I have not seen that guy since. Not at any clubs, not at any shows… It's like he just disappeared, and I expect that I'll probably never see him again.
Anyway, the point is; sometimes the people that keep your local goth scene going, who are dancing the most at your local clubs, and who keep goth DJs like me feeling inspired to continue doing this, and to continue to seek out new music… Sometimes those people are just wearing a tshirt and jeans and aren't all that dressed up.
And, sometimes, the people who're dressed to the nines, who look the part and have a closet full of expensive brand clothing, just stay home all day, on TikTok, pretending to be better than everybody else, with cringey usernames like "goth daddy" and "goth king" and "goth goddess". Sometimes - not always, but sometimes - those are the people I wish I never had to run into in my local scene.

My fake interview with an imaginary e/riel
A huge reason as to why I doubt the possibility of e/riel, is because they don't really seem to have a clear indication as to what will happen in their book and the rest of the series, beyond the romance aspect. They really haven't gotten that far with their planning... ;)
So I decided to put what I've gathered from some of their logic in interview format.
*Keep in mind, this is just for shits and giggles. I'm not saying that this is completely accurate*
How will the romance go?
"Elain and Lucien will talk, they both realize that they don't want each other and they reject the bond. Elain and Azriel are together and in love, they will have a forbidden romance. Elain will become a spy and she is friends with Nuala and Cerridwen. Elain uses truth-teller to server the bond with Lucien. Elain and Azriel are likely true mates"
So Elain and Lucien will reject the mating bond, but she and Azriel are also mates?
"Yes."
How will they have a forbidden love story?
"Because Rhys said no"
But Rhys is not the enemy, I'm sure he would want them to be happy, as would Feyre, right?
"They will serve forbidden love and hide it from their family"
That sounds like incest, honestly.
"😲"
What of Mor?
"...."
That's exactly what Az said as well, haha! What about Graysen?
"She is already over him as she is in love with Azriel"
Sure. And Gwyn?
"It doesn't matter, she is just a side character in Nesta's story"
Could Emerie and Mor get a book/novella?
"Absolutely!"
But not Az and Gwyn?
"No, it doesn't make sense. And Sarah says her books are about women"
Is Gwyn not a woman?
"😠"
But we saw more of her in SF than Elain, right?
"Doesn't matter. Did you not read how determined Az was to save Elain in acowar. He didn't hesitate🥰"
He saved Gwyn too, and *reads from book* "slaughtered all of them within moments. He didn't hesitate"
"😡"
Sorry... What about Koschei?
"Oh yeah! Um.. Elain and Az will defeat him! That was hinted at in SF!"
Okay, what about Lucien, Jurian and Vassa? Aren't they tied to it?
"They'll be there too. Lucien and Vassa will fall in love"
Right! But what about Jurian?
"Lord of flame and firebird makes sense to me¯\_(ツ)_/¯"
Lucien is the son of Helion, though. I always considered Eris to fit lord of flame more, don't you?
"No. Lucien and Vassa are lord of flame and firebird while e/riel are death and his lovely fawn, kinda like Hades and Persephone"
Isn't that Feyre and Rhysand?
"... death and light, I mean"
But that's Lidia and Ruhn, right?
"Whatever"
Fair enough! Could you share your thoughts as to why Gwyn was in Az' bonus chapter?
"To indicate that she is evil or to hint at powers she's not yet aware she has."
Why though? If her arc is seemingly over and she's just there to be Nesta's friend?
"¯\_(ツ)_/¯"
Nice! *checks notes* What about the illyrian conflict?
"What conflict?"
... *checks notes again* Is there nothing more to do with these characters other than to defeat Koschei?
"And the power of choice! Elain is the girl who never got to choose and Azriel is the boy who never got chosen! Love will trump even a mating bond!"
But Az and Elain are actually mates, correct?
"...Depends on who you ask"
So Elain choosing Lucien is not a choice?
"No. It is a wrong choice"
But it is a choice?
"... No. And they aren't interested in each other"
How come?
"Lucien doesn't even try to get to know her, and Elain loses her boldness around him!"
He does bring her gifts though..
"So what!?! She didn't like the gloves!"
Not the pearl earrings either?
"She'll likely never use them"
Just like she won't wear the necklace from Az either?
"😤"
Sorry, sorry... But he also looks at her with longing, correct?
"That is just because of the bond!"
So they are mates?
"Maybe, maybe not"
You said Elain could become a spy. How do you think that will tie in with the plot?
"I'm not sure, that is Sarah's job after all"
So what will happen in acotar 5 & 6?
"Acotar 5 is Elain's arc where she finally gets a choice as she never has been able to voice her opinion. Acotar6 is about Lucien and Vassa defeating Koschei and falling in love"
With Elain and Azriel?
"Right! The article soft-launched e/riel for us :D"
What about when sjm talked about Elain and Lucien as a couple?
"Irrelevant because of the times article >:("
Lovely! Can't wait!

As a fan of both the CBS and the BBC version, I'd like to spend a moment and appreciate both of them and talk about some things that I like, enjoy and appreciate about each version and some things that I think one version does better than the other without trying to bring the other down💚
- One thing I appreciate about the BBC version is the non-romantic relationship between the ghosts. As an aroace, it always bugged me how the CBS ghosts fell in love so quickly and it just seemed...forced. Isaac and Nigel have to be the only CBS couple that actually feels like a couple while the rest are just...there. Thor and Flower, sure, maybe I can understand this one too but Trevor and Hetty and Pete and Alberta (not a couple but Pete has a crush on her) are just dumb and pointless. On the other hand, you can feel the platonical relationship between the BBC ghosts -not saying that the CBS ghosts aren't good friends, but the BBC ghosts feel like they've spent an eternity with one another. The BBC ghosts work better as a group while the CBS ghosts work better as individuals
- I really like Jay's relationship with the ghosts. Where Mike is "oh ghosts", Jay is "oh ghosts☺️". Calling them "invisible friends", asking if Hetty's okay after she left his body, proposing that Sam should help Thor with his nightmares. He's literally Pete's bff! Wanting to play D&D with him, both of them making references to things they both enjoy. I mean, Jay's first instinct when he thought he could see ghosts was to hug Pete
- I actually don't have an issue with the CBS version revealing the ghosts' death soon. I mean, it's not even soon. It made sense that Flower would be the first ghost in the first minutes to reveal her death because she's Flower. Even in the BBC version, from the first episodes we can get an idea on how Julian died because of the no pants and and how Fanny died from screaming when falling from the window. Season 3 hasn't come out and we still don't know how Hetty or Sass died -we know that Sass died the day he was going to tell his first story but we don't know how. As for Hetty, I'm thinking it might have to do with overdose given the amount of drugs she took that she didn't know we're harming her. The mystery aspect of their deaths in the UK version ties with the more "haunting" atmosphere of the show whereas the US one is "sunnier", which isn't a bad thing at all! Alberta's death was a mystery and the reveal with Hetty knowing the truth all along was gasp worthy
- It bugs me when people say that the US version is a copy of the UK one because, a)that's... that's what an adaptation is. The Office is an adaptation of the UK office but no one really cares? B) Aside from Pat/Pete's storyline, I can't see any other similar subplots other than their "main" aspect. Hetty and Fanny are the conservative ladies of the house, Sass and Thomas are the artists, Flower and Kitty have bubbly personalities, Robin and Thor are the oldest ghosts who speak broken English. Sure, Trevor and Julian both died without their pants on but both are pretty distinct from each other. Isaac and the Captain are the closeted soldiers but both of their storylines take different paths. All of the characters are different, with different personalities, interests etc. If the US version had carbon copy characters of the UK one, people would, justifiably, call it a copy but even now where the characters are very different they're still calling it one. They compliment and parallel each other without being the same
- The BBC version follows a more "creepy" tone, if that's the correct way of saying it, with a haunted atmosphere and that's cool. The CBS version follows a more sitcom-y tone with a more cheering atmosphere and that's also cool! No need saying one's superior than the other
- I think Crash was kinda pointless? They wanted to make a Humphrey but it didn't really work. He's not even a ghost that's there, unlike Humphrey who had a role and contributed to the story
Feel free to add your own opinions 💚

Being Enola Holmes' sibling:
Tumblr media
You've always been the quieter one out of the two.
Your mother worked with you on that, trying to help you find ways to communicate if you didn't want to talk. She was happy to help.
You were less of a fighter than Enola was. More creatively gifted.
Still, your sister and you could - and would - communicate through only a stare or a look.
She always tried to keep you involved in what she was doing.
Your mother saw your interest in the word 'they' in books. You would refer to people like that without even thinking.
You would immediately correct yourself however as if you had made a mistake.
"Do you want to be referred to that way, Y/N?" Your mother asked. And, as much as you shook your head, she knew you better than that.
So, without thinking, your mother and your sister would. Even if you seemed to pause, or flinch at it.
As Enola and you road to the station, she would mention you to...well, the audience, "and then there is my sibling, Y/N. Which I think is a scrumptious name. However...they have been more withdrawn lately. It worries me, truth be told."
Still, your mother goes missing. It feels like a part of you is gone too. Your peace has been disturbed.
Enola, despite your protests, sticks up for you against your brothers and Miss Harrison. With both the pronouns and how they are treating you both.
When she gets slapped for her disobedience, you feel terrible.
You aren't wild children, just children who have been abandoned by your mother.
You were never one for abiding by all social rules. You made your own. You especially, it was one of the many things your sister admired about you.
You and Enola stick together. Going to the tree together. You don't need to talk, just each other's company is enough.
Your creativity comes into play as you help solve the first puzzle that your mother left behind.
"Brilliant deduction, Y/N!"
She's always been your biggest supporter.
So, off the two of you go. Breaking the rules once again, dressing how you shouldn't.
Enola sees a light in your eyes. And she couldn't be happier.
You both run into Tewksbury. He, correctly, identifies you both as not boys.
"Why isn't --"
"Arent they," Enola corrects.
"Sorry?"
"They."
"...Right. Of course, sorry. Why aren't...they, talking?"
"Maybe they don't want to waste their voice talking to someone like you," Enola says, looking at you and seeing your discomfort at this moment, and leaving with you.
However, as he said to you that people were after him, when a man passes you and enters your previous place of residence on the train, you can guess why.
You tap Enola on the shoulder, pointing back to where you were.
"No. Please, can we just move on? He's not worth it."
You shake your head, going back. Enola, always having your back, follows. Even if she doesn't like this idea.
You both help Tewksbury and run to the edge of the train.
Together, the three of you jump to escape.
Enola looks to you, first to check on you - but you are just cleaning yourself off as best you can, but also to show her exasperation at Tewksbury never shutting up.
"I wish you would be like, Y/N. Honestly."
Tewksbury, however, continues to talk. He asks you who you are, and who you actually are. Why you've run away. Where you are going.
As Enola continues to get frustrated with him, you put your eyes on the flowers and nature around you, instead.
The pair stop as they realise you aren't following them. Enola looks with a smile, while Tewksbury looks confused. You pick out a flower and put it in your shirt pocket. He tells you a bit about it, you nod, a light in your eyes as you learn more about the flower.
Then, excitedly, you jog past them, gesturing for them to follow. The pair do.
You've found a good place to camp.
Using what your mother taught you, you both set it up.
Not interested in getting to know your new traveling companion, you go to sleep first.
"Why --"
"Sh!" Enola whispers, gesturing to you.
Tewksbury nods, "why don't they talk?" he asks, more gently, this time, "and...they? It doesn't seem to fit."
"It does for them," she says, firmly, "as for the talking part, it's just never been something they've ever done."
"Don't you find that...odd?" he's not sure how to word it in a way that doesn't sound mean.
Enola, however, seems to understand it. She shrugs, "not really. It's just been who they are. I've never known them any other way, really."
"Are you not worried that...other people might see them that way?"
Enola looks to the fire, shrugging again. This time a sag to her shoulders, "I don't think the world would be that kind to me, either."
"Me neither," Tewksbury admits.
Enola looks at him with a smile, maybe he's not so bad after all.
The next day, you notice, Enola is more happy. She has a spring in her step. Finally, you all make it to London.
As you bit farwell to Tewksbury, with Enola him and having some banter about names, it's just the pair of you now.
You nudge her. She nudges you back, "shut up."
You raise your hands, before signing, "I didn't say anything."
She just chuckles, leading you both into the city.
It's...big. And scary. And loud.
You take Enola's hand and squeeze it.
She holds it the whole time, making sure you know she's with you.
You make to the clothes shop.
"Sorry," you sign to her as you enter the store, finally releasing her hand.
"It's alright," she reassures, "it's a lot for me too."
While Enola finds her clothes easily, you are more of a trouble.
You go through each one carefully, checking the fabric and colour.
Despite your mother being missing, Enola lets you take all the time you need. You got the mirror countless times, before finally settling.
"I knew you'd like that one," she says.
You get to work on the letters to try find the next hint to finding your mother. That leads you to a friend, then to a place filled with explosives and other not-so-nice things.
As Enola leaves, you are dragged back by the man from the train.
He dunks your head underwater, bringing you up and asking about Tewksbury, "not speaking, eh?" he says, shoving your head underwater again.
You wish he knew the irony.
Still, while not being as good at fighting as Enola, you get out of his grip and run. Your sister finds you, stopping you as you catch your breath, "what's wrong? what happened?"
She gets her answer as the man comes around the corner. She puts you behind her.
She goes in for the fight. As you freeze.
She gets thrown against the wall, but as she recovers, she gives you a wink. She's got this.
She gives the same to the man, before getting back into the fight.
You then look back to the warehouse. The dynamite. You can use that as...an escape. Somehow, you haven't really thought that far ahead.
As if reading your mind, Enola lures him with the fight to a different one, as you go to the other.
You light the fuse.
Then. BOOM.
With the fireworks going off, you sprint out, Enola joining you as the two of you escape.
Later, you dry yourself off as Enola sits by the fireplace, trying to repair her stabbed dress.
You sit by her, "are you ok?"
She looks to you with a smile, "I'm ok."
You nod, but your smile isn't true. You look to the fire, guilt eating up at you.
Enola looks to you after a moment of silence, "you saved us, Y/N," she says, as if reading your mind, "maybe I am," ok, it's not getting creepy, "it is."
You chuckle. You silently, but still, it's a chuckle.
"I mean it," she waits until you look at her before she continues, "you did save us. You survived him, and bought us the time we needed. You did that."
You smile a true one this time. Yes, you did.
Enola's smile grows at this.
You both agree to save Tewksbury.
The two of you continue on your investigation. Dressing up as a grieving family.
It hurts Enola to have to use the wrong pronouns with you. But, you understand it's for a cover.
Still, it reminds you of the oppressive world you live in.
You let Enola climb up the treehouse, scared of heights yourself. But also because she'd be quicker.
You meet Tewksbury Grandmother, who calls you an 'odd little thing' at you not talking, only pointing up as she asks where your sister is.
Finally, you find him selling flowers. You give him your flower. He spins it, before looking at you thankfully, knowing what it means: you're on his side. Maybe even friends.
You take him back to where you and Enola are staying, but are interrupted by Lestrade.
You and Enola hold the door back. She tells him to run --
Then she looks to you, "you too, Y/N."
You shake your head. No way. You're not leaving your sister. Your best friend.
"Please," she begs, the door once again budging, "I need you to do this for me. I need you to be safe, ok? You can trust Tewksbury. Even if he is a stupid boy," she looks to the boy who is by the window. She sends him a silent request. One he nods at.
She looks back at you one more time, "I'll be sent to a school, that's all that will happen to me. I can't have that happen to you. You need to change the world with that mind of yours, Y/N. Please, please go."
While not wanting to, you do go.
Tewksbury is...well, to be honest, he's lost.
Both in where to go now, but also how to help you.
You're crying. But your facial expression hasn't changed. It's as if, although you're moving, you're frozen in time.
"It will be ok. We'll get through this," he hopes. But even he isn't sure.
"Where...do you know of anywhere we can go?" he asks.
After all, you are both only two frightened children, on the run from god knows how many people.
It takes a bit, but you end up going back to the campsite you made when you first got off the train.
Your face has changed now, going into one of stubbornness. You nudge him, gesturing if he has something to write on. He does, bringing out a crumpled bit of paper and pen. You write on it, giving it to him. Using the firelight, he reads it: "We can't leave her. It's not in our family's blood to just leave."
"I don't mean to be rude, but it does seem to be. With your...mother and brothers," he tries to say it as gently as he can.
You, however, shake your head. He gives you the tools again, and your scribble something else down, this time more harshly.
"Well, I'm going to change that," the words say.
He looks back at you, "how?" he asks.
He sees a spark in your eye.
He knows you have a plan.
Enola gets a box. Opening it, she holds back her scream as you jump out of it.
"Y/N?" she asks, in disbelief.
You nod, doing a little 'ta-da' pose.
She hugs you, tight.
"Oh, I never thought I'd see you again!" she says, cheered up now, as you both spin.
"What are you doing here?" she asks, quietly.
"Saving you," you sign.
"Y/N...I can't leave," she says, defeated.
You tap her on the shoulder, simply pointing from the box to her.
"Oh. Oh, you genius!" She says, giving you another hug. Hurriedly, she gets in.
People who catch you dragging her out, get tired of your sign language. While it stings, it does help get them out of the way.
Once out, you escape on Miss Harrison's bike.
You all go to the estate, ready to end this.
You are, once again, ambushed by the man from the train.
Enola shoves you into cover, trying to fight the man off. She is thrown on the floor.
Looking to Tewksbury, his target, and the armour you see around you, you nudge him, pointing to it and then back to him. When he goes to question what you mean, you run out of cover, letting out a whistle, gaining the other man's attention. He fires at you, just missing.
Enola, however, sees him reloading, and uses her jujitsu move on him to take him down.
Tewksbury's grandmother then comes out with a shotgun. Before either of you can react, Tewksbury is shot, hitting the floor. Enola cries out his name as you both run to him. She has tears running down her face, you are worried, but you are also praying.
Thankfully, that time you bought Tewksbury pays off as much as it did for Enola, he had used some armour from the suits to protect himself.
"You can thank Y/N for my survival," he says, sending a thankful look your way. You give him a smile and a hand squeeze.
As Enola and you help him up, you all knock your heads together.
You're all ok.
Your mother reveals herself to you after you both say goodbye to Tewksbury.
She hugs you both, "oh, my children. How you have grown."
"Y/N saved us more times than I can count."
"I knew they would."
"It took some encouraging."
"As anything does."
You tap them both, making them turn to you, "they are right here," you sign. They chuckle but also notice how you're using your pronouns now.
After having to say goodbye to your mother again, the two of you go out into the streets of London.
"Together?" your sister asks you, holding out her hand to you.
You nod, taking her hand.
You have your sister and yourself.
You know who you are now.
Just as she does.
Because your futures are up to you.

I think the r/system cringe discord server has the right intentions, but are doing things in the wrong way. In the end it seems both sides (You/People with ideas like you and the r/system cringe server) want to end the spread of misinformation, but both have different ideas of what said misinformation is and how to go about it. I have not been in the server longer and have been observing, I think attacks against each other should cease and you should talk things out. You both give interesting POVs on the topic of endogenic/mixed origin systems and it would be interesting to see a (civil) debate happen. Thoughts on this?
I and many others have tried to speak in r/systemscringe, and the result of speaking politely with sources to back up what you're saying has traditionally been getting mass-downvoted and banned.
Some people in the server have said they want civil debate, and I'm sure they do. It's a controlled environment where any pro-endos will be outnumbered. If they say the wrong thing, they can be banned from the server. And meanwhile, server members can namecall and toss slurs at them with no repercussions.
And unlike Reddit which anyone can see if they happen to be there, it's a private server and the only people whose eyes will ever be on the conversation are members.
I don't feel a debate would be worthwhile or productive.
As for having the right intentions... I think you could say that about a lot of groups.
Anti-vaxxers legitimately believe vaccines cause autism, and their intentions are trying to protect children from developing a potentially debilitating mental disorder. Their intentions are very noble. Protect children from big pharma. It doesn't matter that their research is debunked, has failed to be replicated by any studies, and that their actions will actually lead to deaths of children from diseases. Their intentions are good.
Many Pro-Lifers honestly see pro-choicers as baby killers. Many TERFs see trans women as a threat to women's rights. Many xenophobes are totally convinced people immigrating across the border are violent invaders. You can defend a lot of hate and bigotry with "good intentions."
Some members of these cringe communities probably do have good intentions too. (Although some are just bullies and want to mock people for being different.)
For example, some of these cringizens have experienced ableism first hand from the medical community who has denied their experiences. And who do they blame for this? "Fakers." They believe there is a mass number of evil fakers in the world who are pretending to be plural, and that it's those people who are responsible for all of their ills and the ableism they've suffered.
It's easy to point blame at other marginalized people for what you suffer. In fact, it's more rewarding to be able to mock the little guy than to truly take on institutions that are so much more powerful than you are.
And that's a huge reason that these people are going to be resistant to the correct information too. If you spend all day looking for "fakers" to the point where you start deriving joy from mocking anyone who presents slightly different, you become disincentivized to change.
In the end, I can make a post with quality academic sources disproving popular talking points from r/systemscringe...
And the sad truth is that it's unlikely to change a single mind.
Because their beliefs are so entrenched that no amount of evidence or sources will be able to convince them that they're wrong.

Redemption is a noble idea, but...
not everyone is capable of redemption. It is a sad, but honest truth. I'm not saying this to be a negative nancy, but I work with people who are down on their luck, at odds with the law, and I see this. I see people given a chance to better themselves, to get a fresh start on life, but they don't always take those chances and opportunities. Some are just genuinely in denial while you have those that know they have a problem but can't find the strength to stand back up again. After all, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. Now, I know in media we get an escape and something we wouldn't normally in life. A fulfillment that can only be found there because of how shit life is. However, not everyone is worthy of redemption, especially a fast redemption.
I'm going to rip this old bandaid off. The Diamonds didn't deserve a redemption. Yes, Diamonds. Yellow, Blue, and White (I'll get to Pink in a whole different post as her story wasn't about redemption) The Diamonds were evil tyrant dictators that committed atrocities across the universe in their conquest. Immediately, Yellow and White aren't exactly deserving of a redemption. Now, Blue had redeeming qualities. She cared more for Pink than the others, mourned her, kept her memory alive, and actively sided with Steven first, but there's one big thing that really taints it for me. The gaslighting and abuse that Blue participated in towards Pink. I don't care what your opinion of Pink is, but the fact is that she was a victim of abuse. She was locked away, told she was "loved" and constantly treated as less than a Diamond. I have no doubt that Blue truly loved Pink, but the way she participated in the abuse and how it was quickly wrapped up will never sit right with me. Especially in the end when Pink is damned while the other Diamonds are redeemed.
To my Miraculous fans, we recently saw this. Gabriel, the worst of the worst, given redemption. This one is a little... muddy. So, he was granted redemption, but he granted it to himself. Mari tried, but was stabbed in the back. That I appreciate. He was able to use the wish to get what he wanted. He didn't need Mari to keep a promise or anything like that when Gimmi gave him exactly what he wanted, at the cost of himself. So, it's really muddy. No, he didn't deserve a redemption, but he won. He got what he wanted in the end. If he lost, but was offered redemption, that would be one thing. However, he actually won. He got his wish and rewrote reality to what he wanted. Again, it is extremely muddy and unclear. I do hope that in season 6 we get some answers. However, even I know that is too much to wish for.
On top of that for my Miraculous fans, I'll briefly touch on the big ones being Felix and Chloe. One who was given a redemption while the other who was started to give redemption, but then given a damnation.
Felix is a mixed bag. He definitely was a little shit at the start and it was genuinely jarring to see him again in Emotion wanting to help Adrien when he actively tormented Adrien. He was a good candidate for redemption, however, it needed time. As it stands, Felix's redemption was so jarring and quick. And, this could be just me, but is a little tied to Kagami. He really changed when Kagami was introduced into his life, and it's cute. But I'm so tired of this. I'm so tired of a romantic interest being the reason a person changes. I get love can change people, but I'm so fucking sick of it. I do wish we could have seen more of Felix's shift rather than drops of vague intrigue.
Now the sore spot: Chloe. Allow me to say this, I will be using the correct terminology for this when addressing her arc. It is my duty as a writer to address this as professionally as possible. If any of my phrasing or terms upset you, grow a pair.
Chloe, like Felix, was a perfect candidate for redemption. What made her redemption far more compelling is that we had time to digest it. It wasn't just dropped on our heads like Felix. We got to see the horrible mother that Audrey was (bitch was straight savage), the trauma that she endured because of Audrey's abandonment. It doesn't justify what she did, but it gives context. On top of that, you can buy her actions as a coping mechanism as she tries to act just like her mother. This does lead her to doing horrible things, that which is pretty bad, but it doesn't make her completely irredeemable. What ultimately led her to a damnation arc was Ladybug. I'll just say it, Ladybug was hypocrite. She told Chloe no more Queen Bee, but then acted rashly and gave Kagami the dragon again, despite Kagami revealing herself. It is no wonder that Chloe would turn to Hawkmoth in her most vulnerable moment.
Speaking of, there is a reason villains attack during a person's weakest. Chloe was a die hard Ladybug fan. She was utterly devoted because Ladybug was her hero. However, her hero tore her down and destroyed her, much like her own mother. This brings her to a vulnerable point. It's a lot like the original Disney's Ariel when Ursula goes after her. It is directly after Triton destroys the grotto and Ariel is shattered. The moment that they are at their weakest. And yet, both Ariel and Chloe are blamed for their actions without analyzing the events that lead them to it. Ariel had everything she loved destroyed by someone she loved dearly. Chloe had her devotion and hope shattered by a person she idolized. And yet people wonder why they did the things they did.
Chloe was someone that was on the right track to redemption, but was damned by her idol. I honestly think it is poetic, but wished there was acknowledgement. The damnation could have worked more if Ladybug acknowledged her own faults and tried to actively right them to put Chloe back on track for redemption. You want them to be seen as grown up by season 5, Astruc, add these moments. Ladybug blaming Chloe was not right by any means. Ladybug is at fault. She was the final straw that destroyed Chloe's redemption arc and pushed her towards damnation.
That is all for this post. I have one more to address a little later, but first need to collect my thoughts on. Stayed tuned for that one

My fan theories about how the Underland works
In today's @returntoregalia episode had some interesting tangents about how the creatures probably couldn't survive in the Underland. There wouldn't be enough air, the air wouldn't circulate, and larger creatures die sooner than smaller creatures because their hearts have to work harder. The correct answer is obviously "It's fantasy", but I still think there are some clues that can give a plausible psuedoscientific explanation of how this can work.
Where does the air come from? The overland, specifically the currents. That massive amount of air being pulled in and out of the Underland is what is recirculating the air and keeping it breathable. This is sort of passing the buck, since the currents are never explained and are one of the few purely magical parts of the worldbuilding, but I believe that is the purpose they serve. There is something in the Underland, could be magical or some strange natrual phenomenon that's not explained yet, that flushes out the dead air pulls in fresh air. Sometimes Overlanders like Gregor get caught up in it and it allows for safe passage between the two lands. Sandwitch specifically sought out the Underland because he saw visions of the surface being uninhabited (headcannon: nuclear war), so it's possible that the underland wouldn't actually save them in the event of that happening because it relies on air from the surface, but you can't really blame him for not understanding that.
Why are the animals so big? Yes, larger animals die sooner, but they also are much more efficient because of the Square-Cube Law. "This principle states that, as a shape grows in size, its volume grows faster than its surface area." Energy lost as heat is a function of surface area, which means that larger animals have to eat less often than smaller animals. Mice can starve to death within days whereas a human can stay alive for weeks without food. In places where food is scarce and temperatures are low, like the open ocean and deep sea, we see lots of animals evolve gigantism. If you go deep in the ocean you'll find lots of animals that look like the ones at the surface just scaled up (and yes there's more than one factor that contributes to that, but the caloric efficiency of gigantism is one of those). In a cave environment where calories are scarce it would make sense for everything to get bigger to conserve energy. As for them dying sooner, who's to say that they don't all die pretty early. The oldest creature we see is a cockroach on the code team, but basically everything else besides humans aren't given an age. Maybe Gnawers only live to be like thirty, maybe Ripred is an old geezer who's about to keel over. Most people die in wars anyways, so longevity isn't really a concern. The fact that Rats can grow up from pups to adults in about a year leads me to believe that they die off early and their whole society has made peace with and is designed around that fact.
When it comes to why the animals are all intelegent... that where there's no explanation beyond fantasy book, and that's fine. You could make an argument that with the added stresses and challenges of finding food in the underland intelegence would be important, but also complex brains are a huge caloric sink so it's more efficient to be dumb and specialized. The truth is that no one should ever have to justify having big talking bat friends in their story. Every story should have those without needing to explain their reasoning.

Benjamin Linus Trivia Headcanons
should i start writing for this fandom? would i get an audience from like, the 10 active lost blogs on tumblr.com? i can do reader-inserts and general stuff. have some random ben headcanons that live rent-free in my brain
warnings: some angst, mentions of child abuse (all my homies hate roger linus)
Ben learned to cook when he was still a kid. Roger didn't have a lot of interest in cooking anything and was probably fine living off microwaveable DHARMA meals and dry cereal. Ben often stayed over at Annie's house for dinner and learned early on how to manipulate conversations so they'd end with the adults giving him food or letting him stay for lunch or dinner because aside from that he didn't really get a lot of warm meals. Sandwiches were one of the first things he learned to make but it quickly evolved into complicated meals. He only ever cooked when his father was at work so Roger wouldn't demand to have some of the food as well and reprimand him if it wasn't to his liking. Ben eventually taught Alex how to cook.
Ben had the typical abused kid habit of hoarding stuff under his bed and wherever he could best hide his possessions in his room because he feared his father wouldn't approve of them or destroy them when he was drunk and enraged by a minor inconvenience.
This became a habit that continued way into adulthood. A lot of his drawers have secret compartment where he keeps items that aren't necessarily secret or vital to his plans but just a little more valuable to him than everything else he owns.
Ben became so used to lying as his default that after he becomes Hurley's #2 he has to actively correct himself. Hurley would ask him a question and Ben's immediate response is to lie before he goes "oh wait hold on-" and then says the truth.
After Alex dies, everytime he's in mortal danger he's struggling with the thought that now no one's going to remember the real him or hardly anything about him that wasn't based on a lie if he died
His favorite songs are "Uptown Girl" by Billy Joel and "New York, New York" by Frank Sinatra.
Has gone to Jacob's cabin at least once to rant about how much he thinks Goodwin sucks
One of those people who brush their teeth before breakfast
The thought that Jacob might not actually exist is definitely something that has occurred in Ben's mind and he tried to push that idea away everytime it creeped up on him.
Worst hay fever known to man. Is fine on the island but everytime he leaves it in spring or summer he has to pop 2 allergy pills a day to function normally
Has these cute little cat sneezes. People have definitely tried not to laugh about it in his presence.
He has never been held as a kid and it's very noticeable
Ben has been in many situations where his life was in danger but two of them include choking on cereal and attempting to teach himself how to drive after Roger refused to do it
Has never been drunk. Only over his dead body would he put himself into a situation where he's at risk of spilling all his secrets in an intoxicated state.
The music that plays in the bear cage when you earn a fish biscuit doesn't actually come from the DHARMA Initiative; it isn't in the Hydra Orientation video even though there's sound when they activate that mechanism. Ben added that music in retrospect for his own personal amusement. Definitely sat in the surveillance room snickering to himself whenever Sawyer got a fish biscuit.
He tried to draw an identikit of Jacob solely based on Richard's descriptions on more than one occasion.

Hey Jenna! Thank you for your help with finding fics to read! I'd like to know your opinion about smut fics. The ML fandom seems to be divided, a part of the fandom is strongly against any smut. Is it really inappropriate to write and read smut?
Anon, I was so entertained to get this ask.
Not only am I very much in favour of smut fics, I even write them myself!
But you are correct that the fandom is divided on this in a way I haven't really seen in any of my previous fandoms. For most of my extremely lengthy time in fandom, I've found smut to be much more prevalent. I got my start in Buffy fandom when I was 14 years old and when I discovered "NC-17" fics (as we called them then), well, I didn't have much interest in reading anything else.
Now, some people are going to read that I was a 14 year old reading explicit depictions of sex and they're going to clutch their pearls.
I think that's ridiculous.
I think that written fiction is a wonderful and SAFE way for people (even, no ESPECIALLY minors) to explore things that they're interested in or curious about before actually engaging with those things. And, especially in the case of sex, I certainly think it's a lot better than many of the alternatives like porn or trying things before you're ready. A lot of people will engage in sexual acts before people think they're old enough to read about those same acts and I think that's ridiculous.
I'm now old and married with kids of my own and I have absolutely no regrets or qualms about my early foray into smutty fic. Honestly, I don't even regret my TERRIBLE attempts at writing my own then because they were learning experiences.
I think that this fandom generally being a lot younger is part of the lack of smutty content, and that's okay. I'm certainly not suggesting that fans who are not interested in or not comfortable with that kind of content should seek it out. That's part of why I always make sure to put the M and E rated fics at the end of my rec lists under a warning. (But I only state minors should "beware" and not that they can't read them because I'm not actually against minors reading smut if they want to and can handle it.)
But I do want to push back against this idea that sex is somehow different than any of the other things that humans can do with our bodies, this idea that there's any kind of value or morality attached to it. I know this fandom likes to use "sin" to refer to smut, but I specifically don't do that because I think it's harmful. Some of the people using it may be joking or tongue in cheek, but I think these ideas can hurt people, make them feel guilty about their natural desires or the consensual behaviour they engage in.
People touching each other's bodies to make each other feel good isn't inappropriate, as long as everyone's consenting. People reading about this or writing about it isn't inappropriate either.
It's just sex.
Anyway, you didn't ask for recs, but I'm going to throw some on here anyway (jumping my rec list queue to boot!) because the smut writers in this fandom are amazing and I appreciate them so, so much! Frankly, I wish there was more 😘
ALL OF THE FOLLOWING FICS ARE RATED E!!!!
Let Yourself Be Happy by @kasienda
Kwamiswap ladrien with an amazing identity reveal. I'm reccing this first because of @kasienda's focus on sex positivity, the fact that she eschewed fandom tradition and wrote them 17 because--and clearly a lot of people aren't ready to accept this--but teenagers have sex. And because she wrote it in response to the kind of purity culture BS that had people actually sending her anons telling her to kill herself.
Something Sweet by @ghostlyhamburger
A game of truth or dare leads to a lot more for adrinette. Honestly, choosing just one of @ghostlyhamburger's fics was so hard. With 120 explicit fics, 63 for the love square alone, @ghostlyhamburger is single handedly feeding the smutty side of ML fandom.
your lips are meant to be kissed by @zimtlein
PRPR that starts with a forehead kiss. The sexual tension in this one just bout killed me and then OMG does @zimtlein deliver at the end!!
@devillustrator | nsfw art blog | will draw for €€€ by @isadorator
2-part series ladrien with the hottest identity reveal I've ever read and I've recced this fic so many times and I will rec it so many more times because it doesn't have nearly enough kudos for how amazing it is!!! Y'all are sleeping on this one. (Read it for Adrien letting his dorky Chat side out and punning during sex if for no other reason.)
Charmed, I'm Sure by @chatonne-rousse
Ladynoir FWB that doesn't shy away from sharing those benefits with us. Also there's an identity reveal and it's fantastic.

Hello! I don't know much at all about snakes, and I'm kind of curious, so what are some facts about snakes that someone like myself who doesn't know much about snakes might not know? :)
This is a great question! There are lots of common myths about snakes that are commonly repeated and many people just don't know to question, and lots of people have misconceptions about snakes that have never been corrected!
Snakes don't unhinge their jaws to eat! This is repeated a lot, but there's no truth to it. Snake jaws aren't fused, and the bones are separate but connected by stretchy ligaments. Snakes don't open their jaws wide enough to eat their prey by dislocating the bones, they're just really flexible!
Snakes aren't deaf! Even though they don't have external ears, snakes can hear airborne sounds just fine through a pretty decent range. They're not as great with hearing high-pitched sounds, but for the most part, if you cup your hands over your ears, that's pretty much what a snake's hearing is like!
There's no real, easy rule to identify venomous snakes. All of the rules that are often repeated as ways to identify venomous snakes, like vertical pupils or triangle-shaped heads, will also flag non-venomous snakes just as often. The best way to identify a venomous snake is to learn about the venomous species native to your area and how to tell them apart from non-venomous locals.
Leaving out milk (or other dairy products) won't attract snakes. This one is really big especially in rural parts of the Americas, but it's not true at all! It mostly comes from how snakes would hang around barns, and farmers used to think they were drinking the cows' milk! Snakes can't even digest milk, though.
Snakes aren't cold and slimy to the touch. Many people are surprised when they first touch a snake! They actually feel dry and soft.
Snakes won't chase you. This is a super common myth. When you come upon a wild snake, it's going to be startled and attempt to take the path of least resistance - snakes have really bad eyesight, though, so sometimes this means they're going to head in a direction that doesn't make a lot of sense, and if you both try to get out of there, you'll sometimes wind up running in the same direction.
Baby snakes aren't more dangerous than adults. It's true that baby snakes can have trouble controlling their venom release, but they also have a lot less venom inside them. That doesn't mean you should pick up baby venomous snakes, it just means they're not significantly more or less dangerous than an adult of the same species.
I hope that was interesting! I have a lot of fun talking about snake myths, so if you know any that you would like to me to talk about, just send 'em my way! :)

I've seen others talking about their views on dramione, from both pro and anti perspectives, and I figured I'd share my thoughts as well.
So here's my take on dramione, as a dramione shipper.
First of all, I've seen people who are agaisnt the ship claiming its toxic. The truth is, they are correct. Dramione is a toxic pairing.
If they were real people, I'd be absolutely horrifed to imagine them together and would be disgusted with anyone who encouraged it. If they were real, Hermione wouldn't ever end up with him, and if she did, I'd be one of the people who would beg her to reconsider.
But the thing is, they AREN'T real people. If I wanted to read about real life, I'd pick up an autobiography.
When I watch a horror movie, I laugh at the characters for making dumb decisions because I know in real life, they're okay. When I read dramione and get excited over them being absolutely horrible to eachother, it's because that's what the author intended to do when writing that scene: Getting the reader involved.
It's exciting seeing them go at eachother with viscous spells, tossing out deep cutting insults, literally at eachothers throats, and then open another tab where they're being adorable and fluffy and soft.
It's fun! They can stay familiar to me depsite changing drastically.
Now as for Ron, I can't speak for the fandoms general hatred for him. I actually really like Ron, he's funny, I relate to him, and honestly I don't care about his relationship with Hermione, but I simply don't find them interesting together.
As a kid, I didn't even realize they were meant to be together until they were. I was a pretty clueless kid to be fair, but when they did end up together, my reaction was pretty much: "Oh. Okay."
That never really changed for me. I love their friendship, and I care more about that than their romance. And if they were real, I'd find them absolutely adorable, but again, they're not.
I do think the hate is absurd though. I frequently see Ron made into some complete idiot. Ron has issues with emotional intelligence at times, but that doesn't make him dumb, and I really wish that trope would die in dramione fics, but I digress.
Another aspect I find interesting about dramione is their personality traits. We know that your house doesn't mean a lack of other traits, just that those stood out more for you.
We know that clearly through Hermione especially, as we see her cunning, ambition, and resourcefulness. All slytherin traits.
I like the idea of Dracos "gryffindor" traits surfacing, and I like the idea of these attributes interacting between the characters. Draco's cunning luring out Hermione's, and her bravery dragging his up.
I'm also intrigued by the idea of those things working with eachother. Dracos resourcefulness aiding in Hermiones passion for helping others.
Anyway, that's really all I've got to say, if you read this far, here's a gif of a cat for your time.

1) I'm never gonna be over the fact how they once said 'Morax' co-ruler was the God of Dust' very casually. And then you realize how they really always very specifically reference dust to be at the end of all life, including that of Gods, and even the Lunar Goddesses that aren't said to have been directly tied to Celestia at all. I don't even intend to preach this as a huge thing of significance, but also how could it not be indicative of something? How am I supposed to not question things even the tiniest of bits? Guili Assembly, you were something else, actually.
But also on that note, let me also add something else that I think speaks the massive unique circumstances of the Guili Assembly that includes the 'adepti'. Hi hello, yes, I'm slowly going to venture (post by post), into clarifying the real mystifying term of adeptus, even if ideally we should simply do away with it entirely and revert to using the four terms that the CN source uses, as we do have rough practical translations for them in EN.
2) If Cloud Retainer's story quest is accurate in how it explains the xiānshòu ("illuminated immortal beast") their origins, then the Guili Assembly becomes even more fascinating to me, let me share what the Vision story includes:
"The adepti of Liyue were born amongst the elemental energy that courses between heaven and earth. As pure elemental beings, they are closer to the origin of ultimate truth than ordinary mortals."
If I recall Nahida's story quest(s) accurately, in which we learn that all elemental beings are created from their respective sovereigns (by all means, correct me if memory fails me, I'd need to look through transcripts to be 100% sure), then can we make the assumption that the 'adepti' of Liyue, or rather, the xiānshòu of Liyue, to stem directly from the Geo sovereign, which I think we can quite safely assume to likely be Azhdaha at this point. If that's true, then that makes the Guili Assembly exceptionally interesting and fascinating, because we speak of the whole concept of 'Sovereigns vs. Celestia', but this would be an exceptional case where instead, they worked together to protect humanity, a direct creation of Celestia, and more significant still: they entered a contract/made a pledge to Morax to do so. And while one can entertain (and I did too for 0.5 seconds, just to try to poke holes in my own logic) the 'but what if they were forced to--', I'd direct anyone to look at any tidbit of Liyue's history starting from the Guili Assembly and tell me how likely you truly think that could ever be.
When I say that I love Liyue and the Guili Assembly, I mean it, I don't think I could love anything more.

You know you are right in saying that company sabotaging Tae is a sensitive topic and everyone has their views which can get messy. I respect your blog and your wishes to post your content however, I sometimes think you lack knowledge in the old happenings of BTS or aren't able to cover full content deeply. Please don't take it as something like I am taunting you. I understand you have a life outside fandom and no-one has the right to dictate what you should consume. I simply wanted to present a case that there might be a lot of things you might not notice maybe due to lack of time, interest or any justified reason. But that doesn't mean there might not be truth to sabotaging thing. You are also correct in stating that every solo fandom have problems with the bighit though that doesn't mean Tae is not being exploited. It maybe a heavier word I couldn't find the correct one.
My point is as you state that every member has unique bonds with each member and different level of skinship there is consistency in taekook which I accept though I am not a taekooker (I think I am on the road to be on one after reading your blog). Sorry I am digressing. All I am saying you should also look at consistency of bighit behaviour with Taehyung throught the years. I'll leave a link for you. Not everything would be objective but one can really find reality by looking at original content (as you always mention).
https://twitter.com/Tiffy_Russell/status/1037612533153247233?s=20
Your point of why would bighit sabotage Taehyung when he is filling their pockets is also valid. But again as you say things are not always black and white. I don't presume to know reasons but I can't turn an eye on evidence. I think as a Korean I understand the situation differently. Here, loyalty towards family is extremely important. Youngsters (millenials) are expected to be loyal to their elders and family even if you think they are not being fair to you. though youth are now more aware. Taehyung, is very unique. I don't think he has any love for company and pdnim but he is extremely loyal to his members. His patience, understanding, going out of the company to seek work for his solo era and yet be ready to re-sign is for members and not the company.
I think we should really see - what company is doing rather than asking why would they do it? My intention is not here to change anyone's views not I am asking you to boycott bighit. I am just presenting my views. Sorry for the long ask and my English and my inability to explain. Thank you for reading 🙏🏻
Hi anon!
Your English is fine, don’t worry about it at all 😊.
I am a relevantly newer fan. So there are absolutely things I’ve missed, though I am aware of the things that twitter thread mentioned. What I am definitely lacking is the vibe and feeling of certain situations. And this topic specifically is not something I am able to research well through looking at Run BTS, interviews, Bangtan Bombs, In The Soop, Bon Voyage, etc. I by no means think Bighit treats Tae (and the other members) well. I think they have consistently neglected taking care of the guys’s mental states. Tae has obviously suffered from it, and I think him having to stay a hidden member was very cruel, no matter what the reason behind that was.
Labels/music companies have only one goal, and that is to make money. They will do whatever they think best and the artists will just have to put up with it. There’s countless stories of artists being treated badly by their companies. I absolutely see that with BTS and Bighit as well.
What is the alternative though, if they were to choose a different company? Would things be better? From what I’ve heard other Korean companies are worse. Western companies certainly aren’t great as well and will not understand the members cultural background. So is there actually a better alternative?
When I talk about this (and yes I do so reluctantly) it’s with the present in mind. And I do not directly see signs of Bighit sabotaging Tae. They do promo, they give him opportunities, he seems happy to me, and his album is doing well. For me to think they were sabotaging him at this point, I’d have to see different things. There are actual cases of companies sabotaging their artists, and that includes having their music put on hold, never being allowed to publish an album, and worse things. Is the company fair to Tae? probably not. If boycotting them would be possible and actually help make things better for the guys, I’d probably join, because I think the music business as a whole could do with a reorganization.
I do see your point and I thank you for your insight on this 😊.

Hiya Dearie~! Congrats on 900 followers again btw!
Anyways I have this one headcanon of Joseph that I haven't noticeanyone else bring up.
Joseph having physical scars.
Now if this is too serious then you can skip this!
But back to it, Joseph ran away while in high school, he carried a knife and all that, now he's big and strong, there's no way he hasn't gotten into anything physical before. Making me think he has actual scars from said hardships, maybe even some from his home life before he left?
I just this the man would have physical and visible scars, mabe he kinda hides them or something? But ya, that's my personal headcanon...
What are your thoughts my dear?
Awww, thank you so much! You're so sweet! 💖
Don't worry about scars being too serious of a topic. I've dipped my toes into this sort of headcanon before. My MC Alice has one as well, with her Mafia AU counterpart having several.
While we haven't seen any scarring on Jack's naked body even on the teasers posted on the SnaccPop Studios Patreon, that doesn't necessarily mean that Joseph didn't have any scarring. After all, we don't see his tattoos when he's Jack, and he certainly had them as Joseph.
Aside from old sprites shown in the beta version of the demo, the only times we have seen Joseph out of makeup are in this tinted photo, and in teasers where he's dead and probably rotting. While the sprites from the beta show no signs of scarring, the game is still in development and we haven't seen what Joseph's new sprite looks like unclothed.
Obviously we see damage to his body where he's a ghost(?), but we see those same exposed parts in the photo of him out of makeup without any such damage. That isn't to say that there aren't any scars that he's able to hide underneath his clothes.
Now, the fact that Joseph carried a knife around with him does hint that he was prepared to fight, if nothing else. In a picture that Sauce drew and posted publicly on their old twitter, a (presumably) teenage Joseph was shown covered in scrapes and bandages.
Tumblr media
While this is technically not canon unless it appears on the Sunny Day Jack twitter, tumblr, or another official game page it would make sense given we have hints that he was a troublemaker.
Credit for the art, as always, goes to the awesome Sauce. Remember, don't share and repost the privately posted content from the Snaccpop Studios Patreon. Let's support the team where we can.
Now... when it comes to Joseph's home life, the only solid hint we have is what the psyche consultant assessed about him. Assuming the consultant was correct, his parents might have said they loved him, but didn't mean it, even early in his life. I suspect that he was neglected, ignored and forgotten, which was why I think he acted up and turned into a punk. Even bad attention is still attention, you know?
That isn't to say that there couldn't have been some abuse going on in his house when he was growing up. It's entirely possible that he learned bad habits from his parents/guardians, which included lashing out at others weaker than them.
Then there was the period of time when Joseph was homeless. The sad truth is that people who have to live life on the streets are constantly in danger. Even if he escaped his hometown unscarred, that doesn't mean he couldn't have been scarred literally and metaphorically while he was struggling to survive on his own.
As for my own personal headcanon on the subject, I can't say that I have any strong inclination either way.
Typically when I add scars to a character, I like to attach a significant moment or change in their life that has affected them permanently. For example, Alice got her scar when Ian cheated on her, and in the Mafia AU her scars were from when she was trafficked.
If I were to give Joseph a scar in any of my writing/headcanons, it would be because I thought of an interesting incident to go with it that I wanted to write and/or mention.
As it is, I'm more inclined not to give Joseph scars, at least none significant enough to make mention of. From a narrative stance, the tattoos serve as scars, which, well, tattoos kind of are already. They are permanent markings made to his skin with a needle. They're scars that say a lot about him, ones he chose to have and regrets now.
Then of course there's the damage his body has taken due to his death, which is reflected in his putrefaction and blood. This state of decay draws far more attention than any scar would, and is a direct reflection of the trauma he faced from his death. So in this case, the zombie-like state would be another type of scarring Joseph suffers from.
These are pretty significant parts of his character. As a writer, I'm concerned that adding more scars might muddle the significance of how the tattoos and the rotting damage/alter his body and affect his mental state.
That isn't to discourage anyone from headcanoning Joseph with scars that he hides under his clothes. Hell, I might come up with an idea later on down the line that enamors me. At the moment though, I would rather keep focus on the mistakes of Joseph's past and his death that have left such a deep scar on him that he chooses to be someone else entirely in the present.
