ACT I DE PROD. LOG 001

How's it goin, everyone? Kryo here, your favorite unreliable artist that forgets to update you.

ACT I DE is definitely... Acting. One-ly.

Since announcing it I haven't broken a lot of ground. I would say Lost is about 50-60% done, Turmoil is maybe 30-40, Darkening Skies is about 85 and Neon is about 10 if I don't scrap it entirely. Shadow is fully completed and is in the mixing phase. It's a little different from the version already released, but only in the sense that I tweaked some sounds.

Darkening Skies is the most radically different so far. I didn't want to keep the very fake-sounding acoustic guitar and don't feel like digging my real one out to try to play it (my wrists are begging me to go back to physical therapy just thinking about it), so it's now played on a very synthy pluck. It's got a different everything, mostly to give it some variety, but I worked hard to incorporate the original elements where possible to honor the OG.

Turmoil is proving very challenging, mostly because I have no idea what the hell is going on in that song to begin with because it's just a bunch of shit thrown together. I'm trying a new arrangement that only retains the melody but we'll see how that goes.

Lost is plodding along, the big hurdle right now is the verses. I might just be keeping one of the samples for the bridge because why not?

Neon is barely started, largely because I want to keep the basic sound and style without ruining it but I'm not sure how.

So that's it, mostly. I'm working on some other stuff on the side but everything is taking a backseat to Final Fantasy later this week so we'll see how much I get done.

Your answer filled me with such softness, you can't imagine! My best friend lives far, far away from me. Two years ago was the last time I got to see her. He had a week-long sleepover in an Airbnb in her city, and one night, we grabbed the newest CD from our favorite (non-kpop) band and hit the road for a midnight drive. We drove until we hit the wide open country and pulled over on a deserted highway to stare up at the sky. It was the first time I had seen the Milky Way, and we cried together. Then on the way back, we sang one of the new songs together that has since become "our" song, and I secretly recorded it, and it's one of my most favorite memories ever. Thank you for helping me relive it again. <3

And you'd better believe I'm spending fat cash on their next US tour. I'll dip into my kid's college fund! lol ;)

Current Hate: hmm. Hate might be a strong word for it but I'm really disappointed with the Wheel of Time series. I was super hype for the casting and the previews looked good but man they really did not understand what made the series good.

Dream Vacation: I lived in Iceland when I was a kid and I would love to go back there. I remember just enough that I think it would be a really cool trip.

What Songs Do You Sing In The Shower: I usually listen to podcasts in the shower lol, but when I do sing its whatever comes up on my shuffle. So a whole lot of Seventeen lol

Small Town or Big City: I've always kind of wanted to live in a big city like New York or Atlanta but I know I'm happier in a small town.

Fly or Be Invisible: This is a conflict between my desire to zoom around and never have to drive again and my desire to be nosy. I think I'd have to go with flying though.

BUT yay!! Im not really friends with skz fans (or i am but I just don't know it nor am I deep in the community anywhere so I'm happy I can share this with ya! But ahh I agree! I mean I understand why it might be uncomfy which is valid but I also think it is ok to watch old content. I mean I think the same way with monsta x like it hurts not to see wonho but I STILL enjoy their old stuff because it is entertaining (yes two different scenarios but I hope you know what I mean) and the first finding skz is so fun!! Both chan and felix planning was thoughtful and the fact they shared it with the members makes me feel so warm inside. I can make an entire essay on this episode alone but I won't, I don't think it would send my ask lolol. So yes I agree it is fun watching groups grow and you go back to watch how they started and see them now. They changed but also haven't if that makes sense? I also agree its a tricky position to become a fan of a group after a member has left, no matter what the circumstances are (skz being v different from mx but i totally understand what you meant) I know when I get into groups i also watch a billion compilations of things and its always so exciting to see where they're from when you start to really dive deep. skz i think also has a lot of moments in their content that somehow doesnt make it into comps a lot even though I think theyre some of their funnier moments so it really is satisfying to go deep diving for them in particular.

Theres this Side effects | I am You (ballad Version) | Victory Song | and obviously all their kingdom performances were super changed versions of songs. I know that Minho and Seungkwan are definitely friends, and that all of svt definitely know skz. most recently in Jenghan's live he talked about Minho accidentally starting a live from the skz staff account asfgd and Chris has said multiple times that svt is a group that really takes care of skz which obviously makes me wanna scream and cry :D

I actually am always tied between yellow and blue. Depending on the day I'll tell you my favorite is either one. I just like them both equally. I think I look quite a lot better in blue but I always love how yellow looks in pictures and won't hesitate to pick the yellow game piece in every board game I play.

currently reading:

Oh man, so many things. I always have at least one academic book and one personal book that I'm reading at any given point. Currently I'm almost done with reading Little Women by Louisa May Alcott and Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson. I've started The Queen's Gambit by Walter Tevis since I've watched the Netflix special, and I'm also slowly making my way through It Shouldn't Happen to a Vet by James Herriot, The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman, and Song of the Dark Crystal by J. M. Lee. I also started Stardust by Neil Gaiman today.

A lot I know, but sometimes I can't focus on one and start another so it just depends on the type of day for which one I read.

I also tend to just reread Good Omens, Frankenstein, and the Guardians of Childhood books a lot, so that slows me down with the others.

I watched Luca because my friends were saying it's good. It is, I'd watch it again but it's not one of those things that I have major interest in. It's still cute though so I recommend it. Oh, and wait until the post-credit scene because it's funny.

I'm guessing this means tv series? I just watched the first two episodes of The Mysterious Benedict Society on Disney+ and am now anxiously waiting for Friday when the next one comes out. Let's just say there might be some art for it here in the future.

- Making quite a bit of art for my side blog and have an animatic planned

- Still trying to edit my stupid original manuscript. I've just been procrastinating it and I made a lot of major changes last time so it's gonna be a lot of work that I'm not willing to commit to at the moment

- Also just trying to work on time management in general (not just art but also house chores and the like). I think I'm getting better in terms of productiveness and knowing when I have to just take a break

- Currently in the process of cleaning my entire room (bookshelf, desk, closet, etc.) It's all very dusty and I have way too many books that won't fit that neatly. I also have a bunch of those mini cars and planes that I'm rather fond of and don't want to just throw in a box somewhere so I'm trying to figure out what to do with those

- I'm actually currently on vacation :)

Chapter 23: Shallow

You then felt a hand slithering it’s way to hold yours, and before you could look, you were now running up the stage with atsumu pulling you from behind, not having any time to object or do anything in this situation.

“Please welcome...raises brow...Akaashi y/n?”

“Go y/n-san!” The little boy from earlier cheered, earning your attention as you now stood on stage, in front of a microphone stand.

Atsumu picked up the guitar and started a slow tune, you quickly got familiar as to what song he was about to play.

“Tell me something girl, are you happy in this modern world? Or do you need mooore?~ is there something else your searching fooor? I’m falling...in all the good times i find myself, longing-for change~ and in the bad times i fear myself”

As he continued to strum the guitar, you looked back at atsumu and he gave you a small encouraging nod.

You breathed in thinking that you might as well enjoy this moment.

“Tell me something boy, aren’t you tired tryna fill that voooid~ or do you need more? Ain’t it hard keepin’ it so hard core~ I’m fal-ling...in all the good times i find myself, longing fooor change...and it the bad times i fear myself”

You breathed in and closed your eyes, feeling the rhythm and the sound of the guitar playing.

“IM OFF THE DEEP END WATCH AS I DIVE IN, I’LL NEVER MEET THE GROOOOUND~ CRASH THROUGH THE SURFACE WHERE THEY CAN’T HURT US, WE’RE FAR FROM THE SHAL-LOW NOOOOOOOW~”

“In the sha-ha-sha-ha-low. In the sha-sha-laaaa-low. In the sha-ha-sha-ha-low. We’re far from the shallow now~”

You sung in unison, filling the silent room with the harmony from both your voices beautifully complimenting and bouncing off of each other.

It was like the tune was meant for the the both of you, playing off of the different pitches and notes your vocal chords produced.

As you were doing gaga’s infamous build up, all eyes fell on you, staring at you shocked and surprised because they never heard you sing so well, let alone seeing you perform on a stage and do it so wonderfully was a completely new sight they gladly basked in.

You and atsumu finished the song as he strummed the guitar on its final chord, then there was silence.

Even the kids who were so noisy during this event we’re all looking at the both of you, eyes wide open and jaws dropping to the floor.

You cringed at the thought that maybe they didn’t like how you performed or you just butchered the song COMPLETELY.

But then after a few moments bokuto and kuroo started crying while hugging each other, keiji and hinata along with the rest of you little group clapping while tearing up.

The kids were cheering non stop, chanting “DO IT AGAIN!” And “MORE PLEASE!”

And you looked back at atsumu who was staring at you in complete adoration and amazement in his eyes, you then ran to him not thinking for another moment and hugged him head on.

Making him fall on his back while you continued to cry on his chest.

“You idiot! Why did you drag me on stage!” You laughed while crying, using an arm to support your weight while the other wiped off a few tears.

“What did i say? You do have a pretty sweet voice” he grinned placing a hand on the back of his head as he lay there underneath you.

“Okok, break it off lovebirds, there are kids in this room” keiji clapped while assisting both you and atsumu to stand up, being followed by the rest of the group climbing up on stage.

You brushed off a few wrinkles that formed on your clothes while kuroo and the others just stared at you, looking as if they deserve an explanation.

“What? Is there something on my face?” You rubbed your cheek, wondering if there was a stray lint that made its way to your unsuspecting face.

“YOU LIAR! YOU SAID YOU CAN’T SING FOR SHIT!” Kuroo dramatically shouted, pointing a finger at you while he clung onto bokuto’s white shirt for some type of emotional support.

“Kuroo, the kids can hear you” kenma gestured to the children playing from the foot of the stage, busying themselves with the brand new toys they got from this occasion.

“What about karaoke night!? Did you fake those as well!?” Bokuto furrowed his brows, also clinging onto kuroo’s shirt for said, emotional support.

“I just didn’t wanna tell you guys! I thought i sucked, ok? And yes i did fake karaoke night”

“SUCK??? YOU WERE HEAVENLY ON THAT STAGE Y/N-SAN WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!” Hinata was looking up at you, with a very impressed look on those wide eyes of his.

“Well same goes for atsumu, didn’t know this dumbass could sing” Osamu hit the back of atsumu’s head, slightly jerking forward because he was not ready for that attack at all.

“OUCH!”

“Well let’s finish this charity event and grab some donuts otw home” kageyama spoke up, while being followed by everyone down the stage.

“Hey atsumu”

“Hmm?”

“Thanks, i guess”

You placed a quick peck on his cheek, then ran towards the direction on your group, leaving him on the stage steps, dumbfounded and smiling as he held his cheek from where your lips touched his skin.

Author’s Note: The song that was used in this Chapter was none other than Shallow-from “A start is born” by lady gaga and bradley cooper and quick fact, this is actually my favorite song ever.

Fic you were nervous to post: Ehhh I can’t remember any in particular...I think in general I get nervous posting my first fic for a new fandom, and anything for an exchange because I’m worried my recipient won’t like it. 

How do you choose your titles?: Sometimes I pick a silly title for the draft document and it ends up becoming permanent (looking at you, Every Little Thing etc.) Other times I get to the end and need a title, so I either 1) look through the fic for some good line I can steal from myself, 2) look through the source material or song lyrics to find a good line I can steal from someone else, or 3) whine at my friends until someone suggests something brilliant. Once in a while I come up with a random title out of nowhere, or figure out what I want the permanent title to be before I’ve even started writing...that’s what happened with Contingency Plan, I wanted something that resembled the book titles.

Do you outline?: Not usually? Sometimes for multichapter fic I write down ideas for what will happen in future chapters (I did this for Every Little Thing etc and it helped a LOT) but usually I just wing it.

Complete: 140 on AO3...if we’re counting the ficlet collections as single, complete works, which I am because I am too lazy to count chapters right now.

In-Progress: Uhhh...let’s say three incomplete on AO3, two of which have already been mentioned I’m so sorry and an absolute mountain of WIPs that haven’t been posted yet. The other partially-posted one is Piecing Together An Imperfect Archive, which I wrote for a writing challenge in 2019 and decided to continue. I actually worked on it some this summer, maybe one day I will pick it up again. It is original work and has like NO engagement on AO3 though, so external motivation is not high.

Coming soon/not yet started: Listen I do NOT need more WIPs...the QT Bakery AU has been progressing though, slightly morphed into a cross-town road trip AU. And I was working on a sequel for Waking Up during NaNo but lack of planning got me very lost, haha. There are also some ideas lurking from the Murderbot discord, we’ll see what comes of those.

Prompts?: I will never say no to prompts, but fair warning they might languish in my inbox forever.

Upcoming work you’re most excited about: I am excited for the Bakery/Road Trip AU to be done. Does that mean I’m actually working on it?? Debatable.

love killa: SUCH a bop! one of the best line distributions i think? ive only heard it once but thats what it seemed like. the mv was soooo pretty and nice to look at. also its kinda a new sound for them i love it. jealousy.. is still ahead of it in terms of best mx title tracks, but this is deffo in top 3. i am not even going to talk about changkyun’s verse. i cant see therefore i cant acknowledge it

You couldn’t sleep at all.

The sun had already risen outside your window, alerting you of the brand new day as its young rays trickled into your otherwise dim bedroom, but the light couldn’t reach you. With your eyes shut tightly and your sheets pulled up over the top of your head, your entire physicality was still surrounded by darkness.

Your heart felt it too as it remained caught up in the events of the night before, sending signals to your mind to relive the bleak memory over and over again.

You had thought that you could do it, you really had, but at a certain point, you had realized that the moments you had felt out of place had only increased as time had gone on. Soon, you had found yourself feeling more alone in the relationship than before you had gotten into it.

Hyunwoo was incredibly kind, reliable, and humble—there was no denying that—but he had never been the most expressive person in the world. You had known that entering into this whole ordeal, but you had still been holding your breath in anticipation that he would have changed somehow as the relationship advanced—that was a mistake on your part.

Maybe you had expected too much from him.

After a while, it had become too taxing on your emotions to have to constantly dig for and draw out reactions from him. He would never tell you if something was wrong, rarely open up to you to talk about his feelings, and it simply hadn’t been fair. It had not been easy for you to bare yourself to him too, but you had tried—put in an effort. Perhaps that was why you had felt so alone.

If Hyunwoo had one fault, it would be that he was too passive.

“Don’t you have something to say?” you had asked him last night after confronting him about your concerns. The relationship had been beyond the breaking point—you had known that—yet you had been desperately trying to hold the pieces together.

“I don’t know what you want me to say.”

Just like that, he had shattered what little hope had endured, but you supposed that your one fault would be that you were far too optimistic.

You had thought that for once he would have opened up, but it had been apparent that he didn’t really have a grasp on the severity of the situation. It was natural for Hyunwoo to assume the role of the listener, not the speaker. He was not accustomed to the latter, had never needed to learn to be anything other than a rock for others—strong, resolute, dependable.

Unchanging.

You had already been past the cliff at that point, but he had not stepped forward to take your hand. Even when you had so plainly laid it out for him, he had not been able to see you hanging below the edge—he had no intention of stopping you from falling.

“Then I’ll say something,” you had spoken, your resolve the only thing remaining as you lost your strength to keep holding on. “I can’t do this anymore.”

So, you had let go.

“You’re coming to the wedding, right?”

Your best friend’s voice reached your ear through your phone, and you could only sigh before humoring her with the same answer you had given her the numerous other times she had asked.

“Yes—I already told you. I wouldn’t miss it for the world.”

“Okay, sorry,” she replied, seeming a little frazzled by the magnitude of the task she had undertaken. “I’m just double checking the numbers before we really start preparing everything.”

You felt for her. Planning a wedding couldn’t be an easy job, especially seeing as it was her wedding, and you knew her well enough to hear that there was a slight hint of anxiety behind the way she spoke. She had a whole lot on her plate that she had to manage, and you weren’t even talking about her husband.

“No, I get it. Everything has to be perfect,” you responded, empathizing with her situation.

You had been receiving calls like this for the past few weeks although the wedding wasn’t taking place until many months from now. You didn’t necessarily mind it though. You were currently sitting on a bench at a park near the Han River; you had been taking your usual weekend stroll when your phone had started ringing, but now you were just taking a brief break under the afternoon sun in order to give your weary friend your full attention.

“Exactly! Leave no room for error,” she perkily agreed. There was a slight pause as she was undoubtedly going through the rest of her guest list, but then you heard her tone drop. “Uh-oh.”

“What is it? Did you miscount or something?”

“No…” she immediately denied, hesitation lacing her voice for a split second before she continued. “I just realized that Minhyuk invited Hyunwoo.”

At one point in your life, your heart would have done a thousand flips at the mention of his name, but presently, all you felt was a knot clenching at the pit of your stomach.

It would make sense that Hyunwoo would also be attending the wedding. Being close friends with Minhyuk, the gracious groom, it was only foreseeable for him to get an invitation. You just hadn’t thought of your ex in so long, the realization had not entered your mind, much like with the bride-to-be. You figured it didn’t matter now—his name should hold no meaning to you anymore.

“It’s fine,” you immediately said once you realized how long you had been staying silent. “We can all be adults about this.” Your statement was spoken with such certainty, it even had you believing it was the truth—at least, you were hoping it was.

“Right?” Your friend sounded wholly convinced as her energy rose back up from the apprehension. “It’s been, what, almost two years now? I’m sure you’ve both moved on.” You didn’t add on to her comment, but you had no need to; she proceeded on to mumble to herself, confirming the numbers on her list of attendees. “Okay then, Hyunwoo and his plus-one makes the current total 114 people…”

It was not something specifically directed towards you, but you felt your eyebrows crease almost like a knee-jerk reaction. It wasn’t your business anymore, but you had a pretty good idea who his plus-one would be. You had heard through the grapevine, a.k.a. your best friend’s loud-mouthed fiancé, a while back that Hyunwoo had started dating a new girl—Hanmi. You had never met her before, having never crossed paths with the couple, but it seemed as though you would have a chance to do so at the wedding—if you wanted to, that was.

“And you’re sure that you’re not bringing anyone?” your friend questioned, saving you from delving deeper to awaken your dormant thoughts.

“Yup,” you answered as you switched your phone over to your other hand to press up against the opposite ear. “I’m going solo.”

“You know,” she started in a sing-song manner. “If you want a date, I can think of a certain someone who would be more than happy to go with you. His name starts with a Ho- and ends with a –seok.”

You laughed at the subtlety of her implication, but being subtle wasn’t exactly her strong suit—hence, her extensive guest list and fairly grand wedding scale. You knew she meant well, and Hoseok was as sweet as they came, but you couldn’t find it in yourself to say yes. “I’m flattered, but you don’t have to worry about me. Go take care of your other preparations.”

“Fine,” she whined. “But let me know if anything changes!”

“Will do,” you retorted, and with the beeps signaling that the call had ended, you lowered your phone from your ear and stared at it atop your lap.

You contemplated digging through your contacts to message someone about accompanying you to the wedding. You were sure that you could even ask one of your male friends to stand in as a date. You weren’t sure where the sudden urge came from, but just as quickly as it had appeared, your mind settled back to your original decision. You didn’t want to unnecessarily drag any of your friends into this. Besides, you had already repeated to your friend that you would not be bringing a plus-one, and you were going to stick to that conclusion.

You would have to do this alone—just the way you were used to.

The marriage ceremony had gone just as wonderfully as you had hoped it would go; it had been expected, what with your friend pouring her heart and soul into making sure everything had run smoothly. It had been worth it, because she had looked gorgeous in her white gown, and as much as you hated to admit it, Minhyuk had looked dashing in his tuxedo as well.

With the evening starting, the wedding reception was now underway, and everyone was migrating to the banquet hall where an impressive quantity of clothed tables had been placed out throughout the room, and the catering counters sat off to the side holding an even larger amount of food to feed the hungry guests.

There were definitely well over 100 attendees here, and as childish as it might have been, it gave you a sense of relief in knowing that your odds of running into your ex were slim. You had not been purposely going out of your way to avoid him, but the crowd certainly made it easier on you to roam comfortably. Besides, it wasn’t like he was the type of person to initiate the conversation, so you didn’t have much to worry about.

Unfortunately, Hyunwoo still had a habit of proving you wrong.

The sound of your name being called from behind you caught your attention, and there was no mistaking the voice that had carried each syllable to your unsuspecting ears. Turning around, you came face-to-face with Hyunwoo, although he seemed to be wavering at a distance as if testing the waters.

“Hyunwoo,” you greeted, putting on as pleasant of a smile as you could. Your acknowledgment apparently gave him the approval he needed to fully approach you, stepping forward until he was standing in front of you.

“It’s been a while,” he calmly noted. His expression was devoid of any hints towards his thoughts, but his eyes stared intently at yours before he spoke up again. “You look good.”

“Thank you,” you automatically replied, a wiry smile forming on your lips as you took a better look at him. His dark hair was styled up and out of his face into sleek, coifed locks, and his bronzed skin glowed even under the fluorescent lights of the reception hall. He was wearing a gray 3-piece suit that was neatly pressed and fitted, and you would be lying to yourself if you said that he looked anything short of amazing. “You’re not too bad yourself.”

“Thanks,” he countered with his own appreciation. There was a lull in the conversation after that, and you awkwardly stood there with a tight-lipped smile, wondering if that was going to be the extent of your exchange—too bad it wasn’t. “Are you here with someone?”

There he was, cutting straight to the chase. He never beat around the bush—in fact, you weren’t sure if he even knew how to filter his thoughts or fluff up conversations with small talk. The question took you by surprise, but nonetheless, you shook your head promptly.

“Nope.” This time, you created the lull in the conversation, but before you could think too deeply about your next move, you reciprocated the same question back to him. “Are you here with Hanmi?”

“No. We, uh—actually, we broke up.”

“Oh,” you said, not sure how to take that bit of news. “Sorry to hear.”

“It’s fine, it happened a while back,” he reassured, waving his hand in front of him for a short moment before lowering it back down. There was another silence as awkward as the first; you watched as his gaze left yours to wander aimlessly to the side, and just when you thought that was your cue to excuse yourself, he hit you with another question. “If you’re here alone, did you want to sit together?”

You couldn’t believe just how genuinely innocent that request sounded coming out of his mouth. It made your temper flare up just the slightest and the corners of your mouth relax into a frown. He couldn’t seriously be expecting that he could just come up after so long and that you would just accept it and act as if you were buddies now—now that would be asking too much of you. Besides, you really didn’t feel like sitting in uncomfortable silence for the rest of the night, talking to a wall as you had so often felt like you had been doing in the past.

“The seats are already assigned, Hyunwoo,” you reminded him. Your friend had not been evil enough to place you two at the same table, and while it had been a decision on her part to go as far as placing you on opposite ends of the room from each other, you appreciated her sentiment of trying to look after you, no matter how over-the-top.

Hyunwoo stood there, his eyes darting over to you for a second before they dropped back down to the floor. You could tell he was trying to calculate what to say in his mind, and you figured that you should save him the trouble of having to do so.

“It was good seeing you again.”

You offered him one last grin once he glanced back up at you. There was something on the tip of his tongue—it was obvious with the way his eyes were widened and his lips slightly parted—but much like all the instances in the past, the words were never spoken into existence.

There was no in-between with him—he either bluntly said what was on his mind, or he didn’t say anything at all.

Turning on your heel, you swiftly walked away, maneuvering around the other guests as you made your way over to your table. As you took your leave though, you couldn’t help but notice a familiar gnawing feeling in your chest, and with each step you took, the painful tugging only grew in intensity. You hadn’t felt this in a while, but you recognized the emotions right away; the last time they had overwhelmed you was two years ago during a similar exchange to this one—on the night you walked away.

You had thought that you were okay, and for a while there, you had been. But now, as you went to take your seat, surrounded by strangers and acquaintances you barely recognized, you never felt more alone. With just the simple nudge of his presence, Hyunwoo had come and tipped over Pandora’s box all over again, spilling the disastrous and devastating contents that you had so painstakingly tried to gather up and return since the last outbreak. It was nothing but a futile attempt, however, because you knew how the story ended.

Yet, the aftermath that continued to follow seemed everlasting.

This was supposed to have been just another regular hangout among friends. Korean beef had been on the menu tonight, which had been reason enough for you to meet up with your circle of close buddies for dinner. You had never failed to attend these gatherings that had been held every month—you adored the quaint tradition of enjoying each other’s company over great food and fun anecdotes, because you could always trust that you would have a great time.

Except in this instance, Hyunwoo had shown up.

It had been a little less than a month since you had last seen him at the wedding, but his sudden attendance had still been unexpected to say the least. To be fair, it wasn’t like he was not allowed to join in on the merriment. In fact, the two of you had gone to almost all the meetups together during the time you had been dating. You had always assumed that he didn’t quite find the atmosphere of being with this boisterous group to be his cup of tea—he had most likely been tagging along with you to satisfy your request whenever you had asked. He had never bothered to continue appearing after you two had broken up, so you had been all but convinced that your suspicions had been correct.

If that were case, why now of all times had he decided to show his face?

“Take care! Get home safe,” you called out, waving as you bid your friends a good night. They responded with their own cheery waves before they turned to head down the empty street and make their leave.

Your dinner was over and it was pretty late in the night now, leaving not as many pedestrians wandering the streets; most people were either already back home or drinking the night away at the plentiful bars and restaurants. As for you, you had work bright and early the next morning, so it was off to your apartment and into the comfort of your own bed for you—except, there was one thing standing in your way.

As you turned on your heel to walk down the other direction of the pathway, you spotted Hyunwoo loitering nearby. He was hanging back at an adequate distance, and you could only assume that he had been waiting to politely bid his farewell too.

“I’ll see you around,” you spoke up first, directing your goodbye towards him with a friendly smile.

“Wait,” he suddenly exclaimed, the word stopping you in your tracks before you could take another step. You glanced over at him with a look of surprise and confusion, doing just as he had said; you waited for him to add something onto his outburst, but he just stood there, head lowered so that the shadows of the night cascaded to mask his expression from your gaze.

Not this again. You had thought that you had been through with this. Silence was not a welcome response, and frankly, patience was no longer your strong suit.

“Hyunwoo,” you firmly asserted, and at the sound of his name, he finally lifted his head up to meet your eyes. “Do you have something to say?”

He had his sights now fixed on you, but he remained stiffly in his spot as if there were an invisible barrier preventing him from getting any closer. Just when you thought he had been frozen in place, you saw his shoulders rise with a deep inhale before his lips parted to give you a response you had not anticipated.

“Yes, I do.”

“Well then, spit it out.”

“I made a mistake.” You quirked your eyebrow at the sudden confession. “I was unfair to you. I took you for granted, and I hurt you—”

“It’s a little late for apologies, don’t you think?” you asked, already feeling the lingering emotions from what had ended return in breaking waves. You had lost the anger and spite you had been feeling for the longest time, and now, you were just tired. “Besides, it’s all in the past now.”

“No, I need to tell you this.” Hyunwoo’s voice was unyielding, as if he had already made up his mind and nothing was going to stop him. He began walking forward, each step pulling you deeper into the intense gaze he had on you, and when he stopped just a couple feet in front of you, you didn’t dare to tear your eyes away from the spectacle. You were now the one fixed to a halt, not knowing the impact of what was coming next. “You were the best thing that happened to me, and I shouldn’t have let you go. I need you to know that, and I’m sorry I didn’t let you know sooner.”

Speechless, you stood there for a moment, taking it all in. The tone of his speech offered nothing but candid, raw truth coming straight from within him through a door that had remained securely shut until now. Hyunwoo had never been good with his words—he had not spoken out quite enough for him to improve on the skill—but you could tell that he was straining an effort to be as eloquent and succinct with his feelings as possible.

Something had changed about him.

“I don’t know what to say,” you replied honestly, the volume of your words waning towards the end with hesitation. It was okay though, because everything you wanted to say had already been said. Now, it was his turn.

Hyunwoo took a few short steps closer, and at the tempering of your demeanor, he reached forward cautiously. When he saw that you weren’t retreating away, he slowly inched closer to take your hand in his. Your entire body reacted involuntarily to the familiar touch as his warm fingers clasped over your cold ones, overwhelming you with a sensation you hadn’t felt in a very long time. It was one your mind had not wanted to admit that you had been yearning for, but your heart betrayed your wishful thinking as its cries rang increasingly in your chest.

“I know I can’t turn things back to the way they were,” Hyunwoo continued, never breaking his meaningful gaze, “but if you give me a chance, I want to start over.”

All you could do was remain still. You were afraid—afraid that your emotions might get the better of you if you opened your mouth to speak, afraid that this was all a reverie that you had been no stranger to dreaming before. But most of all, you were afraid to let yourself be vulnerable again, to put yourself on that cliff with the potential of falling yet another time.

“Please,” he said when he noticed your reluctant muteness. His voice was now softer, deeper, and his words felt more intimate than they had ever before. “I know I lacked a lot, but I want to make it up to you. I’m not asking you to forget what happened. I’m asking you to believe in me just one more time.”

Again, your mind was whirling with doubt and the plea to say no, but even the most logical part of your consciousness knew that if there was one thing you could count on, it was that Hyunwoo never said anything he didn’t mean wholeheartedly. Despite the clamor that was happening with your thoughts, you knew that your heart had already made the decision.

It was easy to say that you were over Hyunwoo when you weren’t seeing him, when he had turned into a distant memory. It was a different story to look at him in his eyes, hear his voice again, and still say that you didn’t want this anymore. And as you stood there under Hyunwoo’s watchful and patient gaze, you realized that you couldn’t lie to him nor yourself.

“Okay,” you let out as a whisper. You finally tightened your grasp in his hand, returning the gesture in a way that both reassured him and your own stubborn heart. “I believe in you.”

Hyunwoo didn’t say anything else. He released your hand and curled his arms around you to pull you into a fond, almost desperate embrace. He drew you in and held you just a little too tightly, like he had no intention of ever letting you go, and in an instant, you realized how much you had wanted to be in his arms like this again. You fully sank into the hug, pressing yourself against his chest as you allowed his warmth, his scent, and his love to envelop you once more.

“I promise I won’t let you down,” he spoke, and you felt the vibrations of each word resonate in his chest and move you to the core.

The truth was, you had always had faith.

Even when you had fallen from that cliff and into the waters below, a small part of you had still trusted Hyunwoo. A part of you deep inside had still cared and hoped, because if you hadn’t, you probably wouldn’t have been hurt so deeply for letting go. Thankfully, you had not misplaced your faith, because Hyunwoo had taken the dive off the edge afterwards, submerging himself in those treacherous waters to find you.

He had rescued you, and now, you found yourself at the bottom of the mountain again—but at the very least, you were together.

It wasn’t going to be an easy trip back up the slope in the slightest. You were bound to run into obstacles and lose your footing a couple of times, but you still wanted to try again. You wanted to give Hyunwoo another chance, give the two of you another chance, because no matter how safe you were at the bottom on your own, it didn’t compare to the view you shared from the top in his arms. There were many things you were unsure about, many new delights and hardships you were destined to face, but for now, you would hold onto the things you were certain about—you had faith, you had Hyunwoo, and soon enough, you would have a new beginning as well.

Starting back from zero.

#MONSTAXINLA Concert Experience part 1

This is part 1 of the concert experience post. To make up for my dumbass accidentally deleting majority of my fancams, I wanted to make this as detailed as possible. I’m splitting this into two parts bc I realized, I talk A LOT. So part one is about majority of the songs, as well as the unit stages/H.ONE stage. Enjoy ^^ 

Part 2

So first I’ll start out with the songs (I won’t talk about them all bc it was a 3hr concert but I’ll definitely mention the favorites; excluding unit stages/H.ONE for now).

Shootout: Absolutely amazing! They started big, bold, and hard with this song. It was actually amazing to see this performed live. Especially since this was the song that got me into MX.

Hero: Although I am not the biggest fan of the version they performed...I honestly didn’t mind it at all and found it to be so much fun! This was the first MX song I ever listened to. So it was amazing and brought back memories to when I saw it.

Party Time: This was a chill and fun stage. Loved the table setup and how luxurious they looked, while swaying back and forth to the song. Not gonna lie, might be a new favorite now. ;)

Play it Cool: My favorite song from the We Are Here album. It was so much fun and afterwards, they let us sing along with them in English. ^^

Oh My/Special/Fallin/Rodeo: I’m combining these because these are what I consider the “lit and hype” songs. They’re the ones when the members go crazy. They mess around, they dance strongly, they play around with each other. Also water being thrown on by Minhyuk and Kihyun, I feel blessed.

Alligator/Dramarama/Jealousy: I’ll also combine these because they were amazing as well. The last two being classics. While Alligator continued that strong, cool and sexy vibe the other title tracks have.

Neol hada: The cutest, stop them, they’re too cute. ;-;

By My Side: The last song and the hardest one to accept. Mainly bc it was their last song of the night. Each of the members were emotional, all the monbebes surrounding me were crying. We were all so emotional but good emotions. We were proud, happy, and thankful.

Unit Stages/H.ONE

Myself: The definition of classy and sexy. Minhyuk, Kihyun and Hyungwon in suits? Yes please. They’re dancing was stunning, vocals were beautiful. I hope to see them actually try this genre in the future. It was just so sexy. And this was the part in the concert where I realized, “you cannot have a bias in MX, it’s actually impossible when these men exist; so accept your fate and stan them all”.

Sambakja: I was super excited for this performance bc I refused to watch a single fancam. Sure I’ve seen photos but those are nothing compared to the real deal. I might honestly have to say that this performance might of been my biggest highlight of the night. I had no idea that this song was going to sound the way it did. It was POWERFUL! JOOKYUN ARE THE BEST RAPPERS IN KPOP AND THE ONLY RAPPERS IN THIS INDUSTRY. YOU’RE OPINION IS FOREVER INVALID IF YOU DON’T AGREE. I loved every single thing about this performance. Joohoney’s amazing drum work and how he incorporated us to chant sambakja while he drummed. Their intense rapping. Honestly, I can say a lot about their rapping bc they are kpop’s best rappers...so since it’s facts, we’ll just leave it at that. Also rip bottle flip fail. I guess the rappers can’t do it but at least Minhyuk can! Anyways......STUDIO VERSION OR WE RIOT!!! 

Mirror: The one unit stage I was anticipating the most. And damn was it beautiful, sexy, intimate, emotional. I was so happy to see Wonho in the crop top and lace pants that he wore in Korea; it was one of the few things I wished for. Then Shownu appeared.....I will tell you....I was shocked, amazed, in love. I did not expect him to come out in that turtleneck tank top. He was beautiful and his arms-omg. Honestly, I liked how their outfits contrasted beautifully, since this seemed to be a theme for the performance. Hyung line absolutely killed this stage. And I felt way more emotional listening to this song irl. I could sense how intimate, sensual, dark, mysterious, and beautiful this stage wass. It was truly a masterpiece to see in person. Wonho’s beautiful lyrics composed so well with Shownu’s intense, sensual, strong choreography. Gosh...I could honestly imagine a beautiful artistic approach to this for an mv.....anyways part 2 of STUDIO VERSION OR WE RIOT!!!!!

H.ONE: Hyungwon’s DJ stage was EPIC! I understand now why everyone said it felt like a rave bc it was! It was so much fun, he truly hyped up the crowd. And this man just knows how to perform and to get everyone jumping! loved it!

13. Your overall favorite concept?

That’s......really tough tbh. I typically like darker concepts, and I feel like a lot of different concepts can be subcategories of darker concepts.....for example, I love VIXX’s “Voodoo Doll” for the horror elements, plus the fact that they took such a chance with that concept (and honestly I love almost all of VIXX’s concepts). I love “Shoot Out” by Monsta X as well, so if you know both concepts, you can see the diversity within dark concepts. I guess that’s why I like darker concepts so much! Along with that, any concepts that have a deeper meaning/have MVs with storylines, like “Skydive” or “One Shot” by B.A.P, or “All in” or “Dramarama” by Monsta X

15. Your opinion on aegyo?

Personally, I love it. Honestly just seeing idols cringe while doing it is the best part..........like Hyungwon has an internal battle with himself every time he has to do it and screams and hits himself. Kibum literally runs out of a fucking studio cuz he doesn’t want to do it. But then there are those who are legends at aegyo, such as Jooheon. With Jooheon, I actually laugh and just.....love it so much. 

21. Your three favorite Kpop songs by male artists? 

Fuck......that’s hard lol. Anyone who knows me knows how much I love “Lost in the Dream” by MX......truly their best song. I really love “Ribbon in the Sky” by B.A.P as well. SHINee of course puts out high quality music as well, but I don’t think one song in particular sticks out to me as my favorite song from them. The best Kpop song ever in my opinion though is “The Chaser” by Infinite. Just.....listen to it if you ever get the chance.

22. Your three favorite Kpop songs by female artists?

Oooooof.........well “Décalcomanie” by Mamamoo is my favorite girl group song ever. And since I listened to these songs today, I’m listing three more that I’ve been into lately: “You and I” by Dreamcatcher, “Home” by Ailee, and “Eung Eung” by Apink. I have other songs like “Heart Attack” by AOA but I’ll end it here lol. I’m not sure which songs are among my favorites though besides “Décalcomanie.”

38. Your favorite inter-group moment?

Tbh I adore MonTeen interactions....Literally any moment where Monsta X and Seventeen interact I just get so happy because they’re so CLOSE. My most recent favorite story is when Monsta X got their first public broadcast win with “Shoot Out” and according to Minhyuk and/or Kihyun (forgot who sorry), Seventeen were on tour or somewhere else at the time and yet they called Monsta X and all 13 of them were like “CONGRATULATIONS!!” Plus, Carats and Monbebe being cute and sweet with each other just makes it all even better. But a little side note, when Hyuk and Hongbin from VIXX played Overwatch against Minhyuk, Kihyun, and Changkyun from MX......my heart was singing.

47. Your favorite makeup look?

Tbh I don’t really cling onto makeup looks, but the only thing I can think of is how unique and awesome SHINee’s makeup was for “Married to the Music.” I’ll post a picture of Onew as an example, but honestly I loved all of the members’ makeup looks:

55. Your favorite lyrics?

I wrote a whole paragraph and deleted cuz I thought of one specific song with lyrics that I love: “One Shot” by B.A.P. Here is a verse that really resonates with me:

“Shake your head and say no to being a slave to laziness. All those who don’t try, wake up right now. You want a high position by just sitting in your room? This isn’t a game -- why can’t you separate it from reality?” 

Honestly I’d recommend looking at all the lyrics from that song just because it’s the most motivational Kpop song I’ve ever seen. Those lyrics are more of an “attack” I guess but the other lyrics are like “even if you fall every time, keep fighting” and things like that.
