this might be a weird ask, but just bare with me. so i was active on tumblr like 8 years ago (if not more) and i remember a girl who pretended to be finnish for some weird reason? i remember she often signed herself as hiinä? what does that word even mean? is it like slang because i only found the expression hiinä ja hiinä which I have no idea what it means eheeeeee thank you

It's slang/dialect, hiinä is a way of saying siinä (there). Hiinä in itself doesn't mean anything, but I remember my parents using hiinä ja hiinä a lot (I'm originally from Ostrobothnia, so it might be a dialect thing).

To put in context, siinä ja siinä (hiinä ja hiinä) translates literally as there and there and can be used when you're wondering whether something is going to happen soon and you need to just wait and see.

Looking out of the window, seeing dark clouds: "Se on siinä ja siinä alkaako pian sataa" "It's there and there if it's going to rain soon" Stuff is running low but you still need some: "Riittääkö se?" "Se on siinä ja siinä" "Is that going to be enough" "It's there and there"

If Nepeta is a caterpillar and Meulin is based on a luna moth, are all olive bloods resemblant of moth species, or are they also resemblant of butterfly species?

Honestly, I’ve drawn a few fantrolls at this point. Having looked at the CANNON olive caste, none of them really feel fragile, pretty or precious enough to be butterflies, they all got a chunky down-to-earthness that I think suits moths more, especially with their earthy colors and troll’s nocturnal lifestyle. My species choices has a big thing to do with themes and vibes, so if the vibes suit a guy you got go for it B] Because a lot of bug species I like aren’t included in the original 12 designs I made, there’s room within a caste for more than one bug species. Think about it this way: All moths are green bloods, but not all green bloods are moths. Maybe there’s a grasshopper or junebug greenblood out there!

i actually love this so much i'm so sorry i can't stop giggling.

imagine: post–war buckbucky, living together in a cute little apartment or rancher with a couple cats (they don't need a dog, they've got john, that's more than enough lol). naturally this means they've got spray bottles scattered around the house to protect the kitchen counters and the arms of couches from kitty claws.

thinking about john being very food motivated and always trying to waltz into the kitchen while gale is cooking to steal food behind his back, and gale doesn't really mind, but sometimes john eats just plain ingredients that he's not done with and then he has to chop up more and it's just a tiny bit frustrating (he can't ever actually stay mad though.)

one evening after an incident like this, john, unaware of the extra work he's created for gale and the patience he's drained, comes back in twenty minutes later for a second sweep through, and the moment his hand settles on a sliced tomato, he's spritzed in the face with a sudden blast of cold water.

the look of absolute betrayal and shock he gives gale as he blinks at him with water dripping from his curls, eyelashes clumped together, hand frozen on the tomato slice. gale's got the spray bottle aimed at him like it's a weapon and john can't help the laugh he barks out as he goes to pick up the tomato slice again in defiance, not expecting the second spray that gets him right in the open mouth this time.

sputters out a "hello?" and gale just twitches the bottle at him in a wordless 'and i'll do it again' and john reluctantly retracts his hand with a grumble, stealing the towel draped over gale's shoulder to dry his face, muttering "like i'm one of the damn cats" on his way out. only when he's gone does gale let out a snort, leaning against the counter as he laughs with the image of drowned–rat, kicked–puppy john replaying in his mind.

(bonus: one day they've got friends over in the dining room and john follows gale back into the kitchen under the guise of 'helping', but he's all touchy when he comes up behind him, pressing his hips a little too hard against gale's, and gale unthinkingly reaches for the spray bottle and gives him enough of a spritz to offend him out of his inopportune horniness lmfao.)

I'm not the first person to say this, but there really is something groundbreaking about the lack of romantic plotlines in Wolf 359.

Wolf 359 is a story aimed at and about adults. It's partly about what it means to be human. It's partly about how we exist in relation to other people. It's partly about interpersonal connection and understanding. It has character relationships at its heart. It features so many moments of love and care between characters. It takes place across just over two years of the characters' lives, with 61 episodes and a main cast that grows to a decent size.

And despite all this, the show doesn't feature a single canonical 'on-screen' romantic (or sexual) relationship. Perhaps that shouldn't be as rare as it is, but it's one of the many things that makes Wolf 359 special to me.

hello anon :3 pretty sure i've mentioned all of this in some capacity b4 and much has been covered in depth by greater scholars than myself but here are some 814 charactization quirks i'm fond of ↓

oscar resignedly accepting his own attraction to lando but choosing not to act on it because well..... it is what it is. in his mind being 4 tenths off his teammate is a more immediately pressing matter than lando fake moaning from an icebath 2 feet away [clenched fists]

lando subtly looking out for oscar, especially march-may of last year because he distinctly remembers his own rookie season (see: the "it's a lot, isn't it" exchange in the melbourne unboxed, giving oscar endless opportunities to redeem himself in challenges etc). i think part of it was him not knowing how much of oscar's quietness was a factor of the explosive feeder series to f1 jump and how much is his actual personality but wanting him to feel comfortable either way. also just lando being endlessly curious about this guy who is just a guy... because oscar is lowkey a lot funnier (to lando) than the general public's flat/boring diagnosis gives him credit for

a sort of blase level of comfort and wordless communication (see: virgin radio with zak brown) and also in general communicating via just. noises (the yes/no challenge is an esp egregious example of this like why are u bleating at each other. nvm) to borrow an oscar term here: they're low-frequency! bc while lando has a tendency to match the energy of whoever he's with (vs oscar who's pretty much always the same lol) imo at their core 814 are both different flavours of introverts so when they're together it's just kinda. chill

oscar being deeply tolerant of all of lando's idiosyncrasies and even assimilating to his rhythm... eating the same pre-race meal as lando/changing his answer's to match lando's in the who's most likely to vid/listening to lando's music through their shared wall/"are you ready oscar piastri" "i'm ready lando norris"... insanity

a measurable give and take because as indulgent as oscar can be he will rib lando and give him if not a hard time certainly A Time. basically oscar having a spine... but also bending to lando's whims... it's a fine balance

rating each other as drivers...... sure oscar is a well-socialized young man who can (occasionally) pretend net competence has a lot of moving parts and lando genuinely likes a lot of people he doesn't rate (real) but when it boils down to it the fact that they both think v highly of the others' skill as drivers (oscar constantly calling lando one of the quickest guys on the grid, lando saying his recent run of form is in part due to oscar being good enough in his own right to push him, "i mean, he already is") adds a whole new layer of intrigue. bc even when they get along there's that undercurrent of caution/what's he gonna do next/etc and who kneowsss how this aspect of their relationahip is going to evolve over the next three (3!!!) years together as teammates but i for one can't wait to watch :')

omg monster!simon is the best idea ever. just imagine all the little quirks he does in the beginning. sometimes when you’re sitting next to him, he spreads his legs farther apart so his knee will touch yours. and you can just hear this little rumble, but from where? You can’t tell. Simon refuses to look you in the eyes when he does this.

or like training with soap at close combat. Simon gets a little too protective when he sees you get pinned down by soap or vise versa.

or at the bar after a successful mission. he always stays in the shadows, watching over you. making sure no one gets too close. and if anyone’s making you uncomfortable he’ll just menacingly pop up behind your back and give them a death glare. maybe you’re just a bit too tipsy to realize, but simon’s growls reverberate against your back.

jokingly wold whistling during morning training. seeing the way he snaps his neck to locate where the sound came from, eyes narrowed as he chuffs in amusement.

He'd still be, well, himself; just this big dark presence on base, all-consuming and mysterious in a way that would make the bravest of men cower and hide, so what a luck it is that you have this big brooding monster on your side right? And him loving you?? It's on another level

Monster!Simon believe it or not has an even more difficult time in expressing his emotions, an entity that has been alive for an unknown amount of time that took the appearance of a human will have some trouble adjusting himself into human society and he probably will never completely 'fit it' but that doesn't really matter to him, all Simon truly wants it to be with you and protect you, to hell with everything else and what might others think

I also like to imagine that 'loving' in the tradutional understanding didn't really occur to him, it's not that he doesn't love you ofc, but it started out (and still is tbh) something more like 'oh you're here, you interact with 141, you smell nice and you're actually nice to HIM, you're his now' 😭

But yes you're totally right that he'd be so damn protective and possessive if you! He'd scent you on every occasion, giggling at his insistent rubbing on you and he'd answer your delighted noises with a deep rumble on his own. OR THE WHISTLING THING IS SO. ADORABLE

He acts so annoyed like an angry cat whenever you do this, his eyes squinting in a glare but is silently greatful for it because in this way he knows that you're near him, and you being near him in his mind is equal to you being safe, so he doesn't hold grudges, instead he answers you with a bellow or a whistling sound on his own before getting back to his own business

I just found our about your art and it's so pretty, it also got me thinking about a really badass Au between the submas twins and Panty and stocking; for this Au, I feel like ingo would be someone who hangs back like a sniper or he could have an automatic weapon (idk what though); for Emmet, he could work with a spear or a staff; since this is a Panty and stocking au, Emmet will have panty personality and ingo will be stocking (thier is a few changes to the personas but Idk what it is)

Jumping on the Jack R outrage bandwagon

What also gets me about Jack getting another R card, is this also means Savanaclaw is the only dorm now to not have a Halloween SSR card. And this is just my prediction, but given the way that Jack's card is the only one that doesn't have ribbons or strings attached to the side, he's probably going to be pretty important to the story, aka with the puppet theme and likely people being controlled, it feels like he's not going to be controlled and making him Very Important for the story line

So far, I noticed that ALL the halloween events had at least one dorm leader SSR; Vil for SM, Riddle for EH, Malleus, Idia and Azul for GM and now Kalim for PL; Which makes it highly likely that Leona will be 2024's halloween SSR! It will happen, it's only a matter of time (that rules out Jack and Ruggie as possible halloween SSRs for next year tho 💔)

NO LISTEN I'VE BEEN THINKING THE SAME. ABOUT HOW JACK'S OUTFIT SEEMS DIFFERENT THAN THE OTHERS

Out of the R cards, Lilia, Trey and Jade all have loose ribbons on their sides. Now look at Jack; his ribbons aren't loose, but rather...

...They are tied to his cuffs and connected to his back. Why only he has ribbons tied that way?? And something that particularly makes me uneasy is why he has ribbons tied to his knees. Doesn't that seem oddly restricting? Especially for THE most athletic and physically strong character?

Notice that it's a single ribbon, tying his knees together. All of the ribbons on his cuffs and knees seem to be of enough length to make him move comfortably at least, but wouldn't that prove to be a hassle for his movements in case of an emergency? He can't properly run with his legs tied like that. He can't properly fight using fists with his arms tied like that.

Considering the boys did not choose their outfits (it magically appears on their bodies once they enter inside playful land) it's almost as if... That was purely intentional on Fellow's part. As if he's wary of Jack and is very much conscious about how he could use his raw strength to break out, and the ribbons tying up his limbs is to ensure that he will stay contained and restricted like a dog on a leash.

Nothing is confirmed yet but I sure hope those ribbons will have a bigger role in the plot and aren't there just for aesthetics 😭 If those ribbons really will be like strings that holds a puppet together, I can imagine that Lilia's, Trey's and Jade's ribbons will be holding them up like they're puppets and Jack's ribbons will be for restricting him.

Ok as much as I'd love for Jack to be important in the story I don't think that's going to happen since he's merely a R card AGAIN and much less will be of more importance than the others 😭 Whatever predicament happens to Jack will likely happen to the R characters (and SRs?) as well, like being restricted or controlled. The SSRs are supposed to be the protagonists of the story after all. BUT I still hope there's a small scene that shows his ribbons restricting him and proves that the placement of HIS ribbons especially aren't just for show 😳😳😳
