Oh my, so interesting what he explains about him and Téa. 🥹 So happy for them, and for him to have found someone like this. ❤️
[VIDEO BELOW - New interview with Kara]
Kara : How are things with your accomplice?? How is your accomplice?
Tim : She’s a miracle. I never thought that I would experience something like that at my age. And I had sort of come to terms with like maybe being alone or maybe being some kind of casual thing that wasn’t really too demanding and then we met and it all changed! It is the deepest, most fun, most truly intimate relationship I’ve ever had.
Kara : so why do you think that is? What’s different? What makes it like that?
Tim : […] We want someone to see us. And if we get into a place where we allow someone to really see us, everything, and they can look at that and say ‘Ok, ‘I’m okay with this. All this good stuff and all that bad stuff’ then it’s like a profound relief to be able to be your entire self and know that someone is not gonna blame you or try to change you in a way that’s punishing or belittle you for the things that you have that are human flaws; but you know, try to help you and try to encourage you to improve without trying to fix you. So, all that stuff.
Kara : So, there’s something about her that helped you trust that she would do that, be like that with you? Or were you at a time in your life where you were ready to expose yourself in that way?
Tim : All of the above. And, talking about fear, I was terrified because basically she said to me ‘Give it all, give me everything. Tell me the whole story, all the shit, all the stuff you’ve done you’re not proud of, you’re ashamed of, just tell me and I’ll deal with it’. And I was like ‘okay…’ thinking that perhaps I would get annihilated, you know, that I would step on the landmine the was in the mine field or the eggshells that was out there. I took that risk and I laid it all out and she was like ‘okay. Let’s do this’. Wow, you know and… [getting emotional]. It was and has been an amazing thing and feels not punishing at all. And… some of my relationships I’ve felt punished.
Kara : Right, which would make you think that future relationship would as well, because it was your history, it’s what you knew.
[…]
Kara : You and Téa met when you were on ‘Madam Secretary’. I don’t know if you met before that but that’s when you started becoming intimate. That ended like years ago now. How many years has it been?
Tim : Four years, five years, something like that.
Kara : So, it’s interesting that you are great with that situation, and your environment now is totally different; you’re not working together. And has it changed at all? Was it more something then or more something now?
Tim : That’s better. That’s better now. Yeah, you know, it’s funny because I’m pretty sure there were a lot of eyes rolling on set and lots of nervous people going like ‘Oh God, when that blows up it’s gonna be a disaster. Oh, on set romance…’ And we were a little bit before #MeToo so we could have our romance without being so careful about it, and all this stuff, and there was, I’m not sure if it’s actually called this, it’s called a ‘Love contract’ that you were supposed to fill out for CBS saying ‘We are in a relationship, we work together so if things go badly, we’re not gonna bring it to work’ but we never did.
Kara : Oh, you never signed it?
Tim: No, we never signed it and we never brought our shit to work.
Kara : Very good. There’s something going on that you’ve decided, you’ve approached the whole thing in a healthy way it seems like, to me […].
Tim : It’s pretty spectacular.
Kara : I also love the fact that she said ‘Give me all of it?’. Like she literally said that?
Tim : Yeah. It’s funny also, and so surprising for me. I showed up for work one day at Madam Secretary and I opened the door to my dressing room and there were like 25 pairs of high heel shoes and all this lingerie and I was like ‘What’s happening here?’ And Téa is like ‘Why do we have separate dressing rooms? I’ll just be in here.’ And first I was like ‘Wait, my space, etc.’ and I was like ‘No, she wants to be with me so badly that she’s moved her high heels into my room, so I better take this, this is a good thing.’ And her dressing room turned into a place where we would take naps. At lunchtime, we looked like cadavers. We would lie next to each other and just pass out for about 18 to 20 minutes, we got so good at it, and then we could continue on with our day.

Here’s a throwback to my freehand colored pencil Bryan & Joe from the show “Wings” drawing I did a couple years ago. Superman/Batman: Apocalypse (2010)
Tumblr media
Superman/Batman: Apocalypse could have been so much more than this. While superhero fans will probably enjoy this story, it never rises above the mediocre source material.
A sequel to Superman/Batman: Public Enemies, the story begins when a meteorite impacts Gotham City harbor. From the crater emerges Kara Zor-El (voiced by Summer Glau), Superman’s lost cousin. Batman (Kevin Conroy) is suspicious. Superman (Tim Daly) is overjoyed. When the evil Darkseid (Andre Braugher) kidnaps and brings her to his hellish homeworld of Apokolips, Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman (Susan Eisenberg), and former Apokolips resident Big Barda (Julianne Grossman) embark on a rescue mission.
To its credit, this is a faithful adaptation of the graphic novel. While Michael Turner's artwork is simplified, you can still recognize his style. All the characters, plot points, and battles are preserved. If you’re a fan of the book, you’ll be pleased with this story.
Therein lies the problem, however. This story is filled with flashy moments that make little sense. A perfect example is a scene that pits Wonder Woman, her Amazon sisters, Batman, and Superman against an army of Doomsday clones. Remember Doomsday? Introduced in the 1992 Death of Superman storyline? How cool is it to see hundreds of him? Not at all. When the monster shows up once, fights Superman to the death, that’s epic. When both are resurrected and fight a second time, the stakes are diminished. A hundred Doomsdays is just silly. Doubly silly when you realize it's the same model copy-pasted over-and-over with more than a few layering errors on-screen.
Too many story decisions don't hold up under scrutiny. Why would Darkseid get into a fistfight with Superman? He’s a god! Isn’t close combat beneath him? What his armies are for? Why do Wonder Woman and Batman immediately begin conspiring against their friends instead of talking to them? Just so we could get more action sequences?
There's no effort to rework or polish the story originally penned by hit-or-miss Jeph Loeb. Once accustomed to Earth, Supergirl proves herself a bore by shopping for clothes and shoes, by complaining that she's broken a nail. She's simply a gender-swapped version of Superman with stereotypical female attributes slapped on. If you think they'll resist an opportunity to overly sexualize her, you're wrong.
While you'll get a kick out of hearing Conroy, Daly, Eisenberg, and Ed Asner (who voices Granny Goodness) return, the voice acting is another miss. Andre Braugher is awful as Darkseid, having no presence or menace whatsoever. Inexplicably giving the lord of Apokolips the ability to fly doesn't compensate. All it does is create a bunch of plot holes during the conclusion. At least the action scenes - despite being utterly ridiculous - are kind of cool and well done.
Less discriminating comic book fans will not dislike the film as much as I did. I saw the sequences with Wonder Woman and Big Barda - who are well developed and never feel like they’re weaker or less valuable than their male counterparts - and glimpsed at what the film could have been. With a story that tries too hard to be cool, a villain that's as intimidating as a kitten, and a story that's mediocre at best, you'll be more entertained by the Green Arrow short included on the DVD/Blu-ray than the main feature. There are some good moments in Superman/Batman: Apocalypse but this may be the weakest of the DC Animated films. (On Blu-ray, July 22, 2015)

Repost from Tim Daly
The arts have taught me that even when everything is ugly and scary there is still beauty in the world. There are still beautiful people making beautiful things. No matter the art form, art is art and it takes bravery to share it with the world and share a little piece of yourself to make the world a little better and a little brighter.

Superman: Brainiac Attacks (2006)
Tumblr media
Released in 2006, you might initially confuse Superman: Brainiac Attacks for an early installment in DC's long-running series of Direct-to-Video Animated Movies. It isn't. Not even close. The villains are not interesting, there are gaping plot holes, the story is not original. After it's over, you'll wonder “Was that it?” and yet, I didn't dislike it.
Rocketed from the dying planet of Krypton, baby Kal-El was raised by a kind, elderly couple and as an adult adopted the identity of Superman, Earth’s greatest hero (voiced by Tim Daly). When danger isn’t present, he masquerades as Clark Kent and works as a reporter alongside Lois Lane (Dana Delany). When his greatest enemies, Brainiac (Lance Henriksen) and Lex Luthor (Powers Boothe) conspire together to take down the Man of Steel, can Superman overcome the odds?
This movie tricks you. It uses the same animation style as the DC Animated Universe (prominently featured in Batman: The Animated Series, Superman: The Animated Series and Justice League Unlimited) so you think it's connected, and therefore has value. It isn't in continuity. You can tell from the characters' behavior. Instead of a cool, calculating villain, Lex Luthor is a buffoon. A coward and fan of bad jokes, no one would ever describe him as a threat. Brainiac? Little more than a generic alien invader who wants to destroy stuff. Lois Lane, Jimmy Olsen (David Kaufman(, and Superman fare a bit better because they have moments here and there where their personalities shine through but all have forehead-slappingly bad moments.
“Hey! Come on now.” Lex Luthor’s been kind of a bumbling supervillain before. Even the darkest comic book characters have had their shares of lighter storylines. Can’t you let that go?” Fine. I’ll humor you. Maybe this is destined for small children instead of teens and young adults. It's still a bad story with big plot holes. When Brainiac and Luthor ally themselves, the alien takes control of a satellite orbiting earth and reconfigures it into a new body. Do satellites normally contain kilometer-long metal tentacles, rocket boosters to allow them to fly around, mechanical hands, and an outer shell made to survive Superman's punches? I can't discuss in detail the portals to other dimensions that can open up anytime, anywhere or the dozens of buildings that are either always empty or contributed to a monstrous body count during the film's climax - that would give away the ending - but you see what I'm getting at.
There are a few moments here and there fans of the character will find cool. There's an interesting twist halfway through that deals with Superman and Lois Lane. The initial battle between Brainiac and Superman is exciting. If you look hard, you'll find some neat bits of dialogue. I'm trying, guys. Ultimately, Superman: Brainiac Attacks does not feel like a movie. Not even a direct-to-video movie. It's a bad episode of the Superman Animated Series, made worse by the fact that it isn't actually part of the series. (On DVD, April 12, 2015)
