(SPOILERS) Absolutely LOVE how the lore behind the Heroes Rising movie is that, it was Horikoshis idea for the ending of the story proper, "until he got a better idea"
Absolutely LOVE how the idea for his ending prior to changing it was Izuku and Katsuki fighting TOGETHER in a culmination of their entire relationship to defeat Shig/AFO, something I and probably everyone who even remotely likes the relationship was dying to see in the climax of the story.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE how when we finally arrive to the final war, Izuku gets sidelined, Katsuki has to carry on alone, Katsuki gets brutalized, and KILLED by ShigAFO, and hasn't woken up yet (it's been 84 years)
I love how Horikoshi looked at Heroes Risings plot, with EVERYTHING that happens in that movie between katsuki and Izuku and said "Haha wait I can do this better" and next thing we know, Kacchan is dead on the ground and Izuku had to fight on alone
(And then you have Stain in this chapter...Toga in another....)
Horikoshi is a mad man

I just love those little guy dudes from the museum so much hfjdks and now we get two pairs of them
Also, fun fact, I took Steve's Roman name from, like, an actual king of Rome. The actual sixth king. He seemed like a chill dude.
Anyway, there's a meme at the end and as always, if you see any typos, no you didn't ;)
---------
When Robin took this job as a night guard, she didn't think the previous guard's words about history coming to life at night was, you know, real. She thought it was a joke, a predictable and corny joke, but a joke nonetheless.
But now, after being chased by a T-Rex, getting saved by Theodore Roosevelt, and almost being taken captive by fucking Attila the Hun, Robin thinks this job definitely isn't worth $16.50 an hour. Then again, this is the best paying job she's had in a while, and she was living a nocturnal life anyway.
Robin groans, leaning against a wall in the diorama exhibit, and slides down to the floor. She lets her head fall back against the wall, her eyes slipping shut as she slides. "This is crazy. This is insane. I need to find a fucking weapon or something," she mutters.
"Pardon me," comes a voice close to her head, "but might you be the goddess Diana?"
As pick-up lines go, it's not the worst one she's heard. And, based on what she knows of Greek and Roman deities, it wouldn't be too far off. Still, she does not want to be hit on by whatever weird historical thing is trying to flirt with her.
Robin takes a deep breath, opens her eyes, and says, "Do I look like a goddess to you?"
She looks to her left where the voice came from, blinking when her gaze falls on a figurine that would barely reach her ankle. He's dressed in a toga with a chest plate, wrist guards, a sword on his waist, and a deep purple cape over his shoulders. His hair is, honestly, the most impressive thing Robin has ever seen, made only more impressive by the golden laurels resting perfectly against his temples.
He's looking at her with wide eyes, more awed than anything else. "Yes," he says. "I have heard the gods are larger than life."
Okay. Fair.
"Why Diana, man?" Robin asks.
He tilts his head, studying her for a moment, looking her up and down. "You give me the same feeling as statues of Noble Diana with her Huntresses," he explains, pausing for a moment before adding, "A feeling of kinship, perhaps?"
Oh. This...this is like ancient Roman gaydar, right? Robin snorts and turns, resting her elbow on her knee. "I'm definitely not Diana. My name is Robin. I'm the new night guard."
His eyes brighten some, his smile growing wider and certainly charming enough to make the hearts of a few girls and guys flutter. "I am Servius Tullius, Sixth King of Rome, son of Vulcan, weapons master of the gods, and adopted son of Jedediah, Cowboy King of the Wild West, and Octavius, general of the Roman army."
Robin nods, letting all of the those words process in her head before saying, "Mind if I call you Steve? You look like a Steve."
The Sixth King of Rome blinks, looking slightly confused before his eyes light up with understanding. "Ah! A nickname! Yes, I am familiar with this concept. You may call me Steve, Lady Robin, as a show of our newfound friendship."
"Yeah, don't call me Lady Robin. Just Robin is fine," she says, hesitating before offering her hand to Steve.
"As you wish, Just Robin," he says, stepping carefully onto her hand and remaining steady as she raises him higher.
Robin blinks, frowning slightly and about to correct him again when she sees his smile and realizes it's a joke. "Okay, very funny, dingus," she says, carefully poking his side.
"Is dingus another nickname? It sounds like an insult."
"It usually is, but it's affectionate when I say it."
"Oh! Yes, like when Ockie calls Jed a philistine."
"Uh, sure," Robin says, nodding once as she lets Steve move to stand on her shoulder. He quickly sits, holding onto the collar of her jacket as she carefully stands up. "Hey, you know what I'm supposed to do about the dinosaur bones?"
"Rexy? Yes, he enjoys a game of fetch."
"Fetch. Of course."
----------
"What's going on in that head of yours, little man?"
Steve blinks, looks over at Jedediah, and raises an eyebrow at him. "I'm taller than you," he says, gesturing to the good inch he has on Jedediah.
"As long as you're my son, you're a little man."
Doing his best to not laugh, Steve nods once and points to the new diorama set up in the middle of the room. It's a circular diorama, centered on an equally circular stage divided into sections. A cacophony of noise echoes from it, clashing as each slice of the stage fights for dominance. "I'm trying to figure out what in Jupiter's name they're doing over there," he says.
"Well, most of it sounds like music," Jedediah says, "I think."
"It's not any music I've heard before," Octavius says, coming to a stop next to Jedediah and frowning at the diorama. "I would have assumed it the unholy shrieking of the damned."
"Perhaps it would be nicer if they weren't all playing at once," Steve suggests, hands on his hips as he tilts his head.
"Oh, boy, there it is," Jedediah says, his grin audible in his tone. "He's got the King Face."
"What are your intentions, my boy?" Octavius asks.
Before Steve can answer, Robin strolls into the room, grinning when she sees the raving diorama in the middle. She walks over to Steve, Jedediah, and Octavius, crouches down, and says, "Hey, guys. I see you're checking out the History of Rock display."
"History of Rock?" Steve asks.
"What in the sweet hell do rocks have to do with that mess?" Jedediah asks, gesturing to the noisy stage.
Robin rolls her eyes. "No, like, rock music. It's a genre. Anyway, it was sponsored by some musician, so it's a permanent display now."
"And they will be...playing every night?" Octavius asks.
"Probably."
Steve frowns a little more and nods, rolling his shoulders back. "If they are a permanent fixture in our hallowed hall, they must be welcomed. As Sixth King of Rome, this duty falls upon my shoulders. Fathers, I shall return shortly."
"Woah, woah, hold your horses there, little man," Jedediah says, moving to stand in front of Steve. "You're not going anywhere near that snake pit without some back up."
"A few centurions, at least," Octavius agrees.
"I will have Robin. What better protection is there?"
Jedediah and Octavius glance at each other before looking at Robin. She grins and offers them a two finger salute. "I'll guard him with my life," she says, "It's literally my job."
With that reassurance, Jedediah and Octavius move out of the way. Steve steps onto Robin's hand and settles on her shoulder with practiced ease, ignoring the nervous flutter in his stomach at greeting the new museum residents. He hopes they'll get along, but he also knows the might of his Roman army and the railroad workers can crush any who stand in their way.
Robin stops next to the diorama, tilting her head as she studies it. This close, Steve can see the bands playing on each slice of stage, the instruments and fashion shifting as his gaze travels around it. "Uh, excuse me," Robin says, raising her voice.
The raucous noise from the diorama screeches to a halt, the feedback making Robin and Steve grimace slightly. "Uh, hi. We're the official welcome crew for the Hall of Miniatures here. So, I'll need someone to represent your, like, whole display," Robin says, glancing over the bands until she finds one she recognizes. "Okay, I know you guys, so I'll be designating you the spokesband. Now, could the lead singer step forward?"
Steve watches as someone on the "Corroded Coffin" (what an odd name for a band) slice of the stage steps forward. Robin offers her hand to them, carefully lifting it away once they step on. "Great, uh, carry on, I guess. But, like, maybe play some of your quieter stuff for a bit," she says, her words barely out before the music starts up and the crowds start screaming once more.
She sighs and just walks over to the bench, letting off the person on her hand before letting Steve slide down her arm in a move they spent nearly three weeks practicing if only because they knew it would look cool.
When he hops onto the bench, Steve walks up to the other miniature, a man his age with long hair and odd clothes with tears that Robin once said were fashionable. His instrument is still slung over his shoulders, resting casually against his hips much like Steve's sword. Steve suddenly finds himself thinking that the man looks a little like a warrior. An odd one, to be sure, but a handsome one nonetheless.
He flashes his most charming smile, lets his shoulders relax, and says, "My friend here is Robin, Guardian of Brooklyn. I am Servius Tullius, Sixth King of Rome, son of Vulcan, weapons master of the gods, and adopted son of Jedediah, Cowboy King of the Wild West, and Octavius, general of the Roman army. You, however, may call me Steve."
-----
As far as Eddie was concerned, nothing mattered so long as Corroded Coffin got to keep rocking in an endless concert. The energy never waned, the set list never grew boring, and the music never stopped. He was ready to inform this welcoming crew of just that and promise Hell on Earth if they tried to disrupt the music (angry concert goers are a force of nature), when the words just died in his throat.
Because the most gorgeous man he's ever seen slides down that giant lady's arm, easily and smoothly landing on the bench. Somehow, his hair is perfectly windswept, the golden laurels glinting in the lights above them. His purple cape flutters softly as he walks closer, his toned thighs on full display with the toga hem that falls to the middle of them. There's a sword on the guy's hip, a chest plate that Eddie wants to pull off, a smile he wants to taste, and a pair of freckles right next to each other on the guy's cheek he wants to drag his tongue across.
He misses most of the introduction because he's too busy staring. He gets the important bits, though: Robin, a king, son of a god, adopted son of two dads. Eddie licks his lips nervously, a grin of his own tugging at his lips as he steps forward and playfully bows. "It's an honor to meet you, Your Majesty," he says.
It's supposed to come out joking, a little poke at the guy's authority to see if he can be riled up. It actually comes out way too genuine, and Eddie has a sudden realization that he meant it. He absolutely will accept this guy as his king, actually. He'll fall to his knees before him right now if asked, and not just because it might give him a little peek under the dude's toga.
"Please, just call me Steve. There's no need to be so formal."
Eddie bites the inside of his cheek, hoping Steve doesn't realize that the things Eddie is thinking about (the things he wants to do to and with Steve) are just about the least formal things on this earth. "Good to know," he says, relieved his voice sounds normal as he stands up straight and offers his hand. "Name's Eddie Munson, uh, lead singer of Corroded Coffin."
Steve blinks, and his smile becomes a bit more genuine as he steps closer and clasps Eddie's forearm. "A fellow leader," he says, squeezing Eddie's arm. "Welcome to our museum."
"Y-yeah," Eddie says, his arm still tingling when Steve lets go. He clears his throat, idly tugging on a few strands of hair. "So, uh, what's the deal around here? I mean, giant women...Roman kings...cowboys, it looks like."
"Our noble museum is home to Pharoah Ahkmenrah and his tablet, which brings the exhibits to life each night," Steve explains.
"There's a few rules, though," Robin says, sitting down on the bench behind Steve. "One, no getting into fights. Two, be back in your display by sunrise. Three, no leaving the museum at night."
"What? Why not?"
"We have lost good exhibits to Sol Invictus's morning rays," Steve says, frowning slightly. "So, be careful."
Eddie stares at Steve with wide eyes as he nods, amazed at the fact that Steve seems to talk like that so genuinely. And the fact that Eddie is...kinda into it. Holy shit, that's not helping with Eddie's whole "fall to his knees" thing. He wouldn't mind some good old-fashioned worship if Steve would just smile at him again.
Maybe his prayers are heard, because Steve smiles at him again. "Wonderful," he says. "Now, Eddie, could I interest you in a tour of the museum tonight?"
"Oh, you could interest me in a lot of things, sweetheart," Eddie blurts out, his mouth running faster than his brain.
He snaps his jaw shut, relieved and horrified at Steve's slightly confused expression and Robin's "I know what you are" thousand-yard stare from over his shoulder. Before he can try to backtrack, Steve snaps, understanding in his eyes. "Ah! Sweetheart is a nickname, yes? I accept your offer of friendship."
Eddie clenches his jaw, stopping himself from saying that it's more than friendships he's offering, and smiles. "Yeah. A nickname. That's all. I'm just...a nickname kinda guy. I'll probably think of more, too, Stevie. Like that."
Steve practically beams, and Eddie feels his knees go weak. "I look forward to it," he says, turning on his heel to look at Robin, who thankfully schools her expression. "Robin, this is where we leave you for the night. You have my word that Eddie will be back in place before sunrise."
"Well, you two kids have fun," she says, grinning in a way that immediately puts Eddie on edge. "I'd better not hear about any funny business, though. Absolutely no bases should be reached tonight, and you'd better not do any conquering or pillaging."
She definitely looks at Eddie when she says that last bit. Eddie stiffens, doing his best to hold back a blush when Steve glances over at his, the confusion clear on his face. "Conquering requires more planning than this, Robin. I've told you before."
"Don't worry about it, dingus. Just have fun. Here, I'll even call a ride for you," she says, winking at them before turning, holding her fingers to her mouth, and whistling sharply.
Steve walks over to Eddie right as the ground starts to shake, easily catching him around the waist before he can lose his balance. "The shaking does take some getting used to," he says, his tone full of sympathy and obliviousness to the crisis Eddie is experiencing.
When his brain finally catches up enough to ask what he's talking about, a dinosaur skeleton slides into the room, its body wiggling excitedly as it growls. Eddie jerks back, the arm around his waist tightening some. "What the fuck?!" he shouts.
"Worry not," Steve says, leaning closer. His voice is a little softer now, his breath fanning over Eddie's ear. "This is Rexy, our steed for the evening. He's very friendly."
"Friendly," Eddie mumbles, letting himself be dragged over to Rexy and placed on the dinosaur's head by Robin. "The dinosaur is friendly."
"Many of the exhibits are," Steve tells him, grinning brightly as Rexy begins moving after a pet on the snout from Robin.
Eddie looks at him, feeling blinded by Steve's smile once more, and completely forgets about the living dinosaur skeleton.

do you think shigaraki would be fine with going to prison? what about spinner? dabi?
Feel like that depends on whether the Heroes have broken Shigaraki's will enough/convince him he's remorseful enough to obediently serve a sentence/have him agree he deserves to be locked up as penance. That even solves the restraints issue - Shigaraki willingly agrees to not use his quirk to break out of prison, because he considers staying in jail to be rehabilitation/just punishment.
Like, saving him means stopping him, having him let go of destruction, and restoring his hope in the world, right? And that last part probably means he will want to reintegrate into society and abide by its rules. Trust in Heroes and listen to them/the governance they uphold. And that will most likely mean serving a prison sentence, so that he'll have paid for his crimes enough that he can rejoin society as a normal and proper citizen after getting out, whenever that will be.
So how Shigaraki will be saved - how convincing Deku will be in saving his heart - will influence how fine he is with going to prison, I think.
However, in general, I don't think Shigaraki is fine going to prison. Would anyone? Definitely not the way he is now.
If he suddenly gets stopped now, he'll be more like Toga - he's feeling better, but he'd still rather have the new, freer world that rises from the ashes of the old one. He's not going to sit and wait on death row*. He's going to skidaddle.
As for Dabi and Spinner... I don't think they would be fine going to prison either? And if they go because they're incapacitated and captured, that's not really a choice of being 'fine' with it.
Spinner hasn't been saved. Dabi is back with his family, which is the first step of a long journey to true salvation. Neither of them - nor Toga (nor Compress) - are remorseful about what they've done and wants to go to jail as penance. Toga explicitly rejects this.
They'd just be getting captured and going to prison.
Whether they try to break out is the question. If they failed to break out, then whether they eventually make peace with it and serve out their sentence because they lost the war, the world moved on, and they're here in the future their opponent created, so they might as well deal, is the question.
(* i know there's the idea that he won't get the death penalty or a life sentence, maybe he'll serve only a few years then he'll get bailed out by Deku or All Might due to their influence or an generous undue influence plea, or have to work as a pro-hero in exchange - but that's literally favoritism/making an exception for him/not following the new system they profess to have faith in??? "Hey, this guy has done more damage than any other villain, BUT the No. 1 Hero thinks he's a swell guy, All Might calls him nephew and hired the best lawyer that exists to argue that he was totally manipulated into everything, and he'll be doing community service in the highly-coveted and well-regarded career of pro-heroics, so let's give him a short sentence. Every other villain can just stay in prison until whenever because no one cares enough about them to intervene so greatly. We have a fair and impartial justice system."
What about Gentle, you might ask? Well, Gentle's crime was that he tried to break into UA to make a youtube video. Then he partly redeemed himself in the eyes of the law by stopping a prison break during a national emergency. Compare that to Shigaraki... not exactly the same level of bad.)
Thanks for the ask!

Runaway Part 3
CW: This part is NOT smut, sorry to all my lovely horndogs, but I needed to throw some plot in there at some point, murder, guns, weapons in general, some sexual harrassment, a little teeny tiny bit of fluff, I think that's it. Fair warning I didn't do a ton of editing bc this took a lot of brain space THAT I DO NOT HAVE THIS WEEK, Definitely working on a Part 4 and probably 5 because I know where I wanna go with this now. As always, thanks for reading.
Remember that I will tag you if you want to be notified about new chapters!

Part 3
As you wake up, Dabi sits on the edge of the bed and goes over the plan with you.
It’s a simple transport; the Doctor needs the League to pick up some mysterious package and deliver it to his own personal Headquarters; something about strengthening the League’s Nomus. Dabi doesn’t share the details, and you don’t ask. The less you know the better.
 “We have two vehicles, Spinner is gonna drive us, Toga, Twice and Compress will serve as the distraction in the other car, and you and I are going to handle the actual delivery.” He smiles as your eyes widen at this bit of information.
“That’s- uh, kind of a really big test for a first mission, isn’t it?” You stutter, feeling overwhelmed. Dabi watches you squirm and smiles wider.
“You and I have strong Quirks. If it comes down to fighting, Shig wants the strongest ones around the actual package to protect it." He doesn't mention that he specifically asked Shig to let him work with you directly. "You’ll be fine.”
"Why are we doing this during the day?" You inquire. "Isn't nighttime easier?"
"During the day there's more traffic. It's easier to blend in, follow the daily commute," Dabi explains. "We're less likely to get noticed if we're just part of the crowd." You nod. It makes sense.
“Is Shigaraki coming?” You turn and rifle through the clothes that Toga has lent you, trying to find something nondescript, forgettable.
“No. We don’t want him near this one in case something goes wrong.” He doesn’t sound concerned. “Wear the black jeans and the black tank top,” Dabi orders, rising from the bed to glance down at the stack with you. “Nothing flashy.”
“Of course,” you murmur, picking up the specific items and turning towards the bed to dress.
“You’ll have a hat and a mask, too, to hide your face. We don’t want anyone recognizing the latest ex-Hero hanging out with the League.” Dabi turns towards the door. “meet me at the bar when you’re ready. I’m gonna go check in with the others.” He doesn’t bother to wait for an answer, just leaves.
You scowl as you dress. For all his attentions last night, Dabi is back to being cold. He’s also being helpful, you muse, but it’s not the same. Last night you were the remedy for his nightmares, the distraction that grounded him. Today, you’re just the new hire. You finish pulling on the clothes and check your reflection in the mirror. You look like any regular civilian; forgettable, vague. Exactly what I want to be. You scowl at your reflection, then turn on your heel and head towards the main room.
 Dabi is leaning against the bar, head leaned close to Spinner’s as they trace the route on a large map and mutter together. Toga skips over to take your hand, beaming. “Happy first mission!” She crows, practically dancing with excitement. “How do you feel?”
You can’t help but smile at her as she swings your hands gently together. “I'm fine. A little nervous,” you admit, and in your peripheral you see Dabi’s blue eyes flash up to your face before settling down to the map again.
 “Don’t be nervous, this is routine,” Twice advises, before his left eye starts promptly twitching. “We’re so screwed!”
“Ignore him. He’s jumpy before missions," Toga giggles, then releases your hand to go stand by Dabi’s shoulder. “Compress is getting the car. We should be ready in a couple minutes.”
“Alright. Rookie’s with me and Spinner. Toga, you, Twice and Compress will be driving the distraction vehicle. Stay close to us and don’t fall behind until it's time to split off. Everybody look fuckin’ sharp.”
 Thirty seconds later, the sound of an engine running approaches headquarters. A faint beeping prompts you and the rest of the group out the door, single file.
 Just outside, in the late morning sun, a shiny red sports car twinkles, idling by the sidewalk. Compress waves from the driver's seat. Twice nods to you and Dabi and climbs into the car. Toga hangs back for a quick second to squeeze your hand. “You’re gonna be fine,” she whispers, then skips towards the car. As her door swings shut, you swallow hard and turn to look up at Dabi, who’s scanning the streets coolly.
“Where did Spinner go-?” You start to ask, just as a big, gray, nondescript van pulls up, goes around the sports car, and parallel parks just in front of it.
“There’s our ride,” Dabi responds vaguely, then jerks his head in the direction of the van. “C’mon.” He walks briskly, not waiting for you to keep up. You scurry after him. Suddenly, he stops and turns, causing you to almost bump into his back. “Oh-here.” He digs into the large pocket of his coat and withdraws a plain black facemask and a blue baseball cap. “Put these on.”
You obey swiftly, tucking your long hair behind your ears and arranging the rest of your disguise carefully. When you’re done, you look back up at him.
“Good?” You ask.
“Good.” There’s something strange in Dabi’s voice, some feeling you can’t quite decipher, before he breaks away and turns back to the van. “Hurry up. We ain’t got all day, doll.”
You roll your eyes but follow him, letting him open up the back door to the van and climbing in, settling down in the spacious second row. Dabi slams the door behind you and goes around, jumping into the passenger seat.
Spinner is waiting, eyes focused, his claws clenched on the steering wheel.
“Good to go, Lizard,” Dabi drawls, throwing his feet up on the dash. “Let’s get this over with.”
 You watch the route carefully as Spinner drives, several blocks up, two rights, one left, and across a bridge to the other side of the city. The drive doesn’t talk long, maybe twenty minutes, half an hour, before you pull up to the gates of an industrial park. The guard at the gate waits for Spinner to roll down his window, looking bored.
“What’s your business here?” He demands, but even his voice is listless, flat.
“We’re here to make a delivery to the Doctor,” Spinner responds sharply. “You gonna let us in, or what?”
The guard’s eyes widen and he seems to jump to life. “Oh yes-yes, sir!” His hand slaps a button, causing the gates to creak open. “Apologies. You know where to go-?”
“Yeah, we got it,” Spinner bites, and the van drives through the gates seamlessly.
Dabi has been staring out the windshield the whole time, lost in thought, but as Spinner navigates the van through the industrial park, he turns to look at you. “How ya feelin’, Rookie?” His smirk is wide.
Your chin jerks up in defiance. “I’m fine,” you snap back, causing his smile to spread wider. “Good girl,” he mouths at you, and your cheeks heat up as he turns to face forward again.
Cocky bastard.
The van stops in front of a huge, gray warehouse. Spinner throws the van in park and jumps out, Dabi following suit without a word. You scramble across the seat to jump out the side door and catch up with them. You glance over your shoulder, surprised to see that the sports car carrying the others is nowhere to be seen. “Where’s everyone else?” You wonder out loud.
Dabi strolls on, not bothering to turn around as he answers you. “They’re doing what they’re supposed to do; being a distraction.”
Spinner coughs a laugh and you decide you’d rather not know what the other half of the team is doing right now.
 A man is waiting on the side of the warehouse, a baggy black hoodie covering most of his features. He shuffles forward, hands in pockets as your small trio approaches him.
“You with the League?” he mutters, keeping his face down except to chance an occasional glance up.
“Yeah. Sorry, we didn’t bring our business cards,” Dabi bites out, causing the man to shuffle his feet. “Is the package ready or not? We don’t exactly have time to chit chat.”
“Yes sir. Here.” The man pulls a flat package out of his pocket- no bigger than a large jewelry box, and hands it off to Dabi. “Does the Doctor need anything else from us?”
“We’ll be in touch.” Dabi flashes a vaguely threatening smile before turning on his heel and leading you back to the van. Out of the corner of your eye, you see the man glance curiously up at you before returning his gaze to the pavement.
 You do your best to walk coolly back to the van after Spinner and Dabi, fully aware that your heart is thumping so loudly in your chest that you’re concerned the others might hear it. For a second, you have to take a step back and take a look at your current life; you are committing crime with the League of Villains. This is not where you thought you’d end up. Oddly enough, you’re more comfortable with this crowd than you ever were as a Hero, even on patrols. The thought sticks with you as your climb back into the van and settle into the same seat as before. Dabi shuts his door and glances back at you.
“See, not bad. Halfway done.”
“Yeah,” you mutter, buckling and leaning back in your seat.
“You did good keeping your cool,” Spinner remarks, as the van chugs back to life and he shifts into drive. “Not bad for an ex-Hero.”
You blink in surprise; this might be the first time Spinner’s actually spoken to you. “Oh. Thanks.”
 Spinner chooses to ignore this and go back to silence, which is fine. Dabi gives you one last look before turning forward himself. In the silence, you gaze out the window and watch as you depart the industrial back and get back on the road.
The Doctor’s headquarters are a bit of a longer drive; about an hour outside of the city. You watch as the urban settings change into suburban ones; sidewalks and payphones changing to trees and small family homes, before the van moves further into the outskirts of suburbia and heads up a small mountain road. After a couple bumpy miles, you pull up to a plain, nondescript house; a very heavily guarded one. Villains of all shapes and sizes stand at every inch of the perimeter; some smoking, some talking amongst themselves, some playing cards. All stand to attention as the van pulls up, shuffling their weapons or flexing their muscles intimidatingly. One of them, heavily muscled and holding a weapon- is that a fucking machine gun?- approaches the van first, right at the top of the drive. He holds his hand out, motioning for Spinner to pull to a stop, and then approaches the window.
“Name and business,” he says brusquely, the minute the window is down. Dabi leans across Spinner to answer just as brusquely. “We’re with the League, here to make a delivery to the doctor, on Shigaraki’s orders.”
The villain steps back to mutter something into the earpiece he’s wearing. He waits a second, listening, then nods. “Proceed. Park to the left.”
Spinner drives the van the remainder of the way up the drive, parking in the designated spot to the left of the house. You follow Dabi and Spinner out of the vehicle silently, ignoring the chills that go through you as you glance around and see that every Villain in the yard is watching your group with narrowed eyes and scowls. One of them steps forward, indicating that he’s an escort. “You can follow me.”
Dabi leads the group behind the escort, glancing back at you. You fall into step behind Spinner, keeping your eyes straight forward as you walk.
As it turns out, the house is set up like a business; you walk through the front door to the waiting room, where a receptionist sits behind a glass cubicle- probably bullet proof, you muse, as the door swings shut behind you. The escort stands off to the side as Dabi approaches the glass. The receptionist looks up, smiling brightly after her eyes travel up and down Dabi’s body. “Can I help you?” She chirps, annoyingly perky.
Dabi doesn’t smile back. “Here to see the Doctor. I’ve got a delivery.”
The receptionist nods, tapping rapidly on her keyboard and skimming the computer screen. “Ah, there you are- you’re with the League?”
“Yep.”
“Alright. Just one minute.” The receptionist picks up the phone, punching a few buttons, then waits as the other end presumably rings. You watch her eyes light up as whoever’s on the other end answers. “Doctor, the League is here with something for you. Shall I bring it back?”
She listens again, then nods. “Understood, sir.” Hanging up, she looks back up at Dabi. “The Doctor would like to see you directly. If you’ll just follow me-” She stands up to scurry around and open a locked door beside the window.
You follow Dabi and Spinner through the door, but at the last second, the receptionist grabs your wrist, holding you back. Instinctively, you go to jerk away, but her hold only tightens. Confused, you glance at her.
Her smile is candy-sweet, the opposite of the vice-like grip she has on your wrist. “Sorry, dear. The Doctor asked for Dabi and Spinner specifically. You’ll have to wait out here.”
Panicking, you look at Dabi, who has stopped beside Spinner and is watching this all go down. You watch as he considers all of this, then looks at you. “Stay here. We’ll be right back.”
 You swallow hard, dread creeping up your throat at the thought of sitting in this waiting room, alone with strangers- Villains you don’t know- without the people you’re comfortable with. You nod anyway, wanting to show Dabi that you can follow orders, and allow the receptionist to tug you back into the waiting room.
She smiles again, a fake sweet smile. “You can sit down, dear. I’m sure it won’t be long.” With that, she slams the door in your face.
Rejected, you turn and head back into the corner of the office with the chairs, sinking into one and turning your gaze to your lap. Your legs are pressed tightly together, betraying your attempt to hide your anxiety, and your fists are balled against your knees, the knuckles turning white. You flex your hands, forcing them to smooth out, and cross your legs, glancing around furtively. The escort is still standing by the door, hands wrapped around his weapon, observing you watchfully. The receptionist has returned to her work, typing rapidly away at her keyboard, a self-satisfied smirk resting at corners of her mouth. In front of you is a low table with stacks of magazines on it.
What is this, a Doctor’s office? You think, before realizing that, technically, it is. With a sigh you reach forward, grabbing the first magazine you reach and opening it in your lap, just to have something to do. You pay no attention to the articles or pictures as you flip through, your eyes glazed over as your anxiety gets worse with each passing second your accomplices aren’t back.
What the hell could they possibly be doing back there? What is taking so long?
Oh, god. What if something went wrong?
You get stuck on this horrifying thought, trying your best to keep a casual look on your face as your mind goes a million miles an hour, trying to figure out how to escape if you get stuck here. A loud voice makes you jump.
“And who do we have here?” Another large man, one that you didn’t notice coming inside because your brain was having an anxiety spiral, plops down in the chair next to you, eyeing you like a meal.
“I-I’m with the League,” you say shortly, avoiding eye contact as you rifle busily through the magazine in your lap.
“Never seen a League Member who wasn’t welcome back to see the Doctor.” The man lets out a loud, booming laugh. You barely manage to keep from jumping out of your skin. “You new or somethin’?”
“Yeah. A new recruit.”
“Interesting. A new recruit that we haven’t heard of yet. Usually Shigaraki tells the Doctor everything, as soon as it happens.” He scratches his scruff lazily. “Why are you wearin’ all that? Everybody out there thinks you’re real cute, only we can’t see your face.” Unbelievably, his hand reaches out as if to pull your mask down. You recoil sharply, slapping his hand away.
“Don’t touch me!” Your voice comes out strong, biting. The man looks surprised, and then perturbed. Desperately, you glance around the room for backup; the secretary is ignoring the situation, probably used to this Villain harassing guests, while the escort stands by the door, watching in amusement. You're not gonna find any help here, you realize.
“Apparently you don’t know the rules around here, sweetheart. When you’re on our property, we’re in charge.” His voice is loud, threatening. “Take this shit off.”
A small struggle ensues; you go to slap the man's hand again and he seizes your wrist in a bruising hold, lifting you out of your chair. You struggle to get free, spitting curses and insults at him, while he attempts to hold you with one hand and pull your mask down with the other, crooning, "c'mon, sweetheart, don't be like that- just a peek- Ouch! You little fuckin' bitch-" as you punch him in the ear as hard as you could with your free hand. He drops you almost immediately and you fall to the floor with an oof, glaring up at him as he rubs his ear in annoyance and leans down to seize you again. "You little fucking cunt-"
“If you touch our rookie one more time, I’m gonna burn you to fucking bits.” The relief that runs through you at the sound of Dabi’s voice is embarrassing. You whip around from your place on the floor to see him and Spinner standing in front of you. Dabi’s eyes gleam wickedly.
The Villian scoffs, standing up to flex his muscles at Dabi. He’s at least six inches taller and smirks down at him threateningly.
“You wanna take me on, you fuckin’ punk? You tryin’ to threaten me?”
“Oh, it’s not a threat,” Dabi smiles. “It’s a promise. You don’t fucking touch her.” He turns to you. “We’re done here. Let’s go.”
Scrambling up from the floor in relief, you try not to make your fear too obvious as you hurry around the edge of the wooden table and go right to Dabi’s side. He takes your arm, leading you outside in front of the escort, Spinner following silently behind you.
Dabi all but pulls you to the van, throwing the door open. “Get in and stay in. Lock the door,” he says hurriedly, under his breath, and you don’t understand until after he slams the door shut and turns to face the Villain who has followed you outside, his weapon cocked and pointing at Dabi as he storms towards him. Horrified, you slam your hand down on the lock button. You can’t hear what he’s yelling at Dabi, but whatever it is gets cut short as Dabi lifts a palm and blasts him with a nonstop wave of blue fire. You jump in your seat and shriek as you watch the Villain try to run, screaming all the while, before collapsing to the ground, blue flames still licking at his skin. The other Villains around the yard watch in fury and horror before trying to rush forward. Spinner reaches Dabi’s side, both of them tensed to fight.
“Hold on, hold on,” you hear from around the building, before an old, short man comes around the corner, hands in the air. He takes in the scene; his charred and smoking former employee, his enraged guards, and Dabi and Spinner, tensed by the van.
“Everything alright?” the old man asks cheerfully, as if everything is normal. “Sorry, Doc. It couldn’t be avoided,” Dabi answers him, still tensed.
Oh, so this is the Doctor.
The Doctor considers this before shrugging. “That one was giving me some trouble, anyway. Apologies for the hubbub, Dabi. On your way. Give Shigaraki my best.”
“Will do,” Dabi answers casually now, dropping his arms and strolling around the side of the van as Spinner quickly gets into the driver’s seat. As the door opens, you hear the Doctor addressing the other guards in the yard. “Stand down. Back to work, unless you want to join your friend here.”
Neither Dabi or Spinner even look at you until the van is safely down the driveway and speeding back along the main road. You’re too scared to speak, still shaking and trying to pretend that you’re not. You think you might be in shock- even as a Hero, witnessing murders was a rare and unfortunate thing. It makes you all too aware of the situation you’re in, how badly it can turn, what could happen to you if you disobey the League.
It’s fucking terrifying.
About a mile down the road, Dabi finally turns to look at you. “Are you okay?” He asks, in the same gentle voice he usually saves for Toga. Spinner picks up on this, glancing at him, wide-eyed, before turning back to the road. Dabi’s eyes don’t leave yours as you scramble for an answer.
“Not really,” You finally croak, squeezing your hands together. Dabi reaches back and tucks a loose hair behind your ear.
“I’m sorry it happened like that.” That’s all he says, giving you one last sober look before turning back to the front seat.
“Thank you,” You finally say. Dabi nods, still facing forward. Spinner’s eyes dart from Dabi to you in the rearview mirror, but he stays silent, focusing on the drive. Following their lead, you turn back to the window, staring blankly at the scenery for the next hour before the streets become familiar again.
When the van pulls up the headquarters, you’re surprised to see that the sports car is also already back. As you open the front door, Toga rushes out and hugs you. “Welcome back! How did it go?”
“Uh-” you glance at Dabi behind you, Spinner just over his shoulder. “It was-”
“It was fine. Y/n did good.” Dabi doesn’t bother taking his coat or boots off, heading directly up the stairs. “I need to go check in with Shig. Then we’ll figure dinner out.” He glances at you. “Drink some water,” he instructs, before clomping up the stairs to Shig’s room.
You stare after him, then notice that Toga is staring at you.
“He killed someone in front of you. Right?”
You gape at her, allowing her to take your hand and lead you to the couch. “How did you know?”
“Because the first time he did it in front of me, I went into shock and he made me drink water for like, twenty minutes after I came out of it.” She smiles, a little sadly. “It’s scary.”
“Yeah,” is all you can think to say. Toga thinks for a minute and then jumps up, shaking her head. “Anyway, I’ll get you some water and then you can tell me everything about your first mission!”
 You spend the next forty minutes recounting everything to Toga, who’s curled up next to you on the couch, as you slowly sip your water. Eventually you feel more grounded, more present, between the water and the warmth of the room, the comfort of the couch. Toga listens, wide-eyed, beaming and nodding as you finish explaining the day's events. “Except for the murder part, it sounds like a really good first mission,” she says bluntly, and to your surprise, a giggle escapes your mouth. She looks at you in surprise as you begin to laugh harder.
“What?”
“‘Except for the murder part.’” You’re wheezing now, tilting off the couch at the surreality of the day. Toga can’t help but join in, the two of you collapsing on each other in a fit of hysterical giggles.
That’s how Dabi finds you as he descends the stairs; you and Toga clinging to each other and laughing so hard that you both have tears rolling down your faces. Something in his chest swells. He’s never heard you laugh before, he realizes. Your laugh is sweet and bubbly, and he wants to hear more of it, but there’s business to be done.
“Y/n.” You glance up, brushing the tears from your cheeks as you look at him. “Shig wants to see you upstairs.”
Oh, Jesus. You glance at Toga, who looks equally nervous and excited, and nudges you off the couch. You stand and join Dabi at the stairs, following him up. He leads you down a short hallway, knocking on one of the bedroom doors. “Shig. I’ve got y/n.”
“Come in,” Shig calls from behind the door. You tense, not knowing what to expect, but when the door swings open, Shig is seated in a beanbag chair, focusing on a video game.
You internally breathe a sigh of relief. Okay, so maybe you’re not about to get whacked.
“Shig. Focus.” Dabi sounds exasperated. Shigaraki hits the pause button before standing and turning to face you.
“Dabi says you did well on the mission.”
You swallow hard. “I tried.”
“It was your first one. It didn’t need to be perfect. I’m interested in your story, y/n. From Hero to Villain in three days.” His eyes narrow at you, his head tilting slightly. “You really want to do this?”
You take a deep breath, gazing at the floor as you try to gather your thoughts neatly. “Being a Hero didn’t do anything for me. It’s only now that I’ve started working with you all that i realize how fucked up the Hero Commision is. I was a child. I was being trained to be a soldier. THey don’t care about your well-being. They don’t care about your health. They just want your Quirk power. That’s not a society I want for anyone, anymore. So, if working with the League can help shake the system a little bit, I’m here to help.” You chance a look up at him. “Let me help.” It comes out as a plea, soft and sincere. Shigaraki stares at you for a few long seconds, and then nods.
“Welcome to the League, y/n.”

If you are still doing these (I know you already got two), could you possibly do 💀🔔and 🪶for an MHA character of your choosing? Thank you in advanced ;D
Yes I am! (Sorry I took a little break to sleep haha~)
I picked D/abi, with heavy h/otwings plot. It also gets a lil smutty, so I hope that's alright!! (it just kinda happened~ nothing actually gets described other than kissing/teasing, no actual smut but still~ fair warning!)
It's still a lil 'off the top of my head' drabble~ (drabbles can be 1k right 😭)
💀 No warning, 🔔 Interruption, and 🪶 Deliberate for D/abi. (cw: Swearing, Kink!Hawks, and some Kink~Indulgence)
~~~~~
You’ll pay for this one Birdie.
If Shigaraki was saying anything worth listening to, neither of them would know it. Instead, Hawks meets Dabi’s glare across the meeting room, flashing a smile in return. The feeling that nestles in Dabi’s gut is immediate. Oh, you’re so gonna pay for this…
He can admit, half of it comes from his own hubris. Watching birdbrain squirm is too good to pass up, especially when they have actual business to attend to right after. Seeing the pale tint to his normally tan face, the pink dusting he can’t seem to shake.
Oh, and of course, Dabi’s favourite part; watching Hawk’s tongue slip out between his lips as he attempts to calm his breathing. Ironic, seeing as Dabi’s the one being forced to violently expel air. Though, to his credit, Hawks isn’t exactly a silent participant, especially not by the end.
Normally it would be a pleasant distraction from the dull thrum of a league meeting. After a good session, they’ll both be left exhausted, Dabi ready to doze off as Twice rambles on. Maybe a bit inconvenient when the topics actually matter, but Hawks will fill him in after. It’s the least he can do.
“eh’GNKT-!”
Except neither of them is paying attention today.
Before they’d left for the meeting they’d been indulging in their… usual activities, when Hawks had built up the nerve to pitch a particularly deviant request. Ever the tease, Dabi had agreed, one on condition. First one to cave and leave the meeting loses. Their usual bet applies, winner picks the next challenge.
Dabi releases his nose with a sharp exhale, offering a halfhearted shrug as Toga elbows him in the ribs. They’d built up quite the collection of nonverbal cues to get away with talking during meetings. That particular interaction was pretty straightforward. ‘You okay?’ ‘Yeah, think so.’
It’s the truth, though not all of it. He may be okay, but a single glance across the table confirms Hawks is most definitely not. Catching his eye, Dabi smirks, lips parting for a breath. Hawks echos the movement, his chest falling nearly as uneven as Dabi’s.
“Are you even listening, Dabi? Of course he’s not listening, you’re so annoying! I am not!”
At his name, Dabi lazily raises a hand to his nose before giving Twice a nod. “Was a little caught up in… somethin’. What was it you wanted?”
“I was wondering if maybe you wouldn’t mind- Stop rambling and get to the point! I’m not rambling, I just- You need to recruit more people!”
Hawks gives a light chuckle as Dabi cautiously lets his hand drop back to the table before speaking. “Last time I checked, I was the only one wh- gnKKT’uh-!”
The hands free nature of the stifle lets a low breath escape at the end, Hawks matching it with a sharp inhale. Dabi lets his gaze wander back over, nose gripped between his fingers. He can feel the feather still trapped inside twitch, only managing to subdue the tickle as Hawks lets it fall still again.
“Are you okay? No one cares! I care!” Twice rambles, oblivious to the struggle his fellow villain’s trapped in.
With a measured glance at Shigaraki, who seems utterly uninterested, Dabi releases his nose again. “I’m fine. As I was saying, I haven’t seen any of you bringing in new mem- ah’KNDT-! hh’EKKT-!”
The feather twirls again, each fibre seeming to trace its own pattern around his twitching nose. Which, given the bloodthirsty look Hawks is pointing his way, may just be the case. Clutching his nose tight enough to leave marks, Dabi gasps as the feather dives deeper.
“B- birdie… hN’CHH-! eNGKTT-! ehh! eH’RTSHHuh-!” The last one escapes his grip, the rush of air through his flaring nostrils sending chills down his spine.
There aren’t many times Dabi would refer to Hawks as a bird of prey, he prefers featherbrain or mother hen. But there’s no other way to describe the look in his eyes. Hawks is hunting.
“Are you sure you’re alright?” Toga chimes in, leaning against her hands with a pout. “You sound sick.”
“I’b dot- eKRSHHuh-! I’b dot… hH’RRTCHHoo-! Fugk…” Dabi pauses to swipe at his nose again. The shudder he feels run through the feather is parallel to the one leaving Hawks breathless.
Birdie can’t hold out for much longer.
“hk’TZSHH- RRTSCH’oo-!” Not sure I can either.
With a smile showing all his teeth, Hawks gives the feather one final command. It twirls itself around, the tip running along the inside of Dabi’s nose, before tracing a small circle around his piercings.
They’re sensitive enough from the outside, from the inside? He never stood a chance. Dabi snarls in response, his nostrils flaring as the tickle surges. Hawks responds with a barely contained whimper, teeth nearly drawing blood from the ferocity he bites his lip with.
“Go- gonna… ARSHH’oo-! huhh! hh’rrzshh- rtzchh- akkRSHH’choo-!”
As Dabi leans against the table, one hand clutched over his nose, the feather suddenly trembles. It doesn’t feel intentional, but it’s effective all the same. He catches Hawks giving him a look, before glancing down at his lips. He’s mouthing something. ‘Give up yet?’
With a smirk, Dabi pinches his nose again, nearly whining as the tickle increases tenfold at the touch. “nGKKT-! INGKT-! DKXNT-”
Hawks finally speaks up, his normally playful tone decidedly raw. “You shouldn’t stop them like that, you’re just gonna-”
“eH! AZSRHhhuh-! RRTSHH’uh-! HETCHHUE-!” With the final burst, Dabi hears a faint moan slip from Hawks’ lips. No one else seems to notice, they’re pretty consumed in some sort of argument. What it’s about is anyone’s guess.
“knch’uh-! nxt’chuh-! arrsh’ngt-! hH’RSHXGT-!” Sucking in another breath, Dabi dips his head into his chest as the string of half-stifles leave him coughing. He won’t be the first to cave, he can take this, this is nothing, this is- oh.
Across the table Hawks suddenly stands, knuckles pale as he grips the edge of his chair. Without a word, he slides towards Dabi, grabbing his arm and pulling him from the room. Shigaraki raises a word of protest, but soon redirects his attention to Twice as he begins another presentation. Their absence isn’t exactly uncommon nowadays.
As they get to the hallway, Dabi slows his footing, giving Hawks a smirk as their panting synchronizes. “This mean you give up, Birdie?”
The answer comes in the form of a kiss, Dabi finding himself pinned against the wall. He leans into it easily, matching the lust with a hunger of his own.
Hawks breaks first, letting his mouth hang next to Dabi’s ear, each breath sending waves of heat down his neck. “You win.”
“As expected,” Dabi responds, aiming to lean into another kiss. He’s stopped short by the feather sliding out of his nose. Despite the act being one of surrender, the sensation of it rubbing his skin still leaves him gasping.
“hNCHH’uh-! RRSHH- ERSHH- EKTSHH’oo-! Shit, Hawks.”
“Sorry hotstuff,” Hawks chuckles sheepishly, “Didn’t think that one through.”
Dabi smirks, pulling Hawks back in for a kiss full of teeth and tongue.
“You’ll pay for that one birdie.”
Villain Roommate |Chapter Eleven|
Tumblr media
You were untied, and lead down a hall by Dabi. But he stopped before you two went any further than a few steps. He turned to you. "Close your eyes and do not open them." He said lowly. "If you even think about opening them..." He trailed off, remembering that no threats rule. But right now he didn't really give a shit. This was not suppose to happen. You did as you were told and closed your eyes, you felt Dabi take hold of your hand before you both continued to walk.
It felt like hours, but finally Dabi told you to open your eyes again. It was night already. You found yourself in a alleyway that lead to the street, the same street that would lead you home. Dabi looked out of the corner of the alleyway, checking if there would be anyone walking around. Once it was clear, he took you by the hand again and lead you up the street. You wanted to tell him you could walk just fine without his help, but you were tired, drained even. So you just let him do what he wanted.
Finally you reached your house, both of you walked inside. Dabi stood there for a moment, just watching you as you walked further into the house before he made for the exit. "See ya." Was all he said as he put his hand on the door knob. However, his actions stopped when he heard sniffling. Then a choked sob. He sighed and turned back around. He could see your shoulders trembling as you cried. Great, just great. He walked closer to you and awkwardly went to put a hand on your shoulder to comfort you, but brought it back. "Hey, stop that."
You didn't stop, in fact another sob left you. The more you thought about what happened back there, when Shigaraki had your life in his hands, the more it made you sick. You could still feel his cold hand around your neck.
"Come on, look, I don't know what to do with people who cry. So stop." Dabi said, this time a bit more softly. "H-How could you say that?" You sniffle. "You weren't the one on death's door!" You turn to him, tears flooded down your cheeks. "I was so scared, I didn't know what was happening or what would happen. I thought he was going to kill me! So don't you tell me to stop crying, just because you don't know how to handle emotions!"
That was fair. Dabi wasn't the best when it came to stuff like this. He just stood there awkwardly, unsure of what to do. He sighed again, rubbing the back of his neck. "How did you even get there?" He asked. You wiped a few of your tears away before answering him. "That girl, the blonde one. She...she looked just like you. I guess that's her quirk, to look like other people. Anyways, she's the one who brought me there. Because she looked like you, I trusted her."
Well, trust is a strong word. "And she knocked me out. Then the next thing I knew I was there."
"Toga, that little brat." Dabi muttered. He wondered how she even got his blood to begin with. Then he remembered the night he was here, when you were patching up the cuts on his stomach. Toga had been responsible for that. That's how she got his blood. "Damn it."
There was a brief silence, the only thing that could be heard was the occasional sniffle from you. Dabi looked to you, you were still shaking. He moved his hand back up and placed it on your shoulder. You gave him a confused look. "You'll be fine. I'm not going to let what happened tonight happen again. I promise. So, stop crying."
"How can you be so sure?" You asked. "Because I'll burn Shigaraki's ass up if he tries it again. That's how." He moved his hand away and turned back to the door. "I'll be seeing you around." He waved before quickly leaving.
From outside, Dabi slumped against the door. He really shouldn't be making promises like that. He took out another cigarette and smoked it as he walked back to the League.
Meanwhile you had only just stopped crying, more confused than upset. Was Dabi trying to comfort you just now?  You'd be lying if you said it didn't work. Kind of. It defiantly wasn't perfect, and totally assuring, but at least he tried? It was unexpected, that's for certain. You'd never think that someone like Dabi even had it him to try and comfort someone. Let alone care enough to do it. Or attempt to do it, in this case.
If left you wondering, why? Why would Dabi care if you were left utterly traumatized or not? He didn't care about you, he made that very clear. He only needed you to heal him, for a place to stay, and that was all. So why would he care enough to comfort you like he did? And it might have been your imagination, but...did he seem concerned? You could hear it in his voice when he asked why you were there at the League.
And another thing, why would he want you to keep your "business" with him secret? He didn't want you telling Shigaraki that you could heal. Why is that? Was he...trying to keep you safe?
Or maybe he was just being selfish, only wanting to keep you and your healing to himself. Yeah, that had to have been it. What else could it have been? Dabi didn't care if you were safe or not, he just needed you around to heal him. Yeah, that was it. But...if that were the case, why did he comfort you? Why did he try to make you feel safe?
This was just too confusing, and you were too tired to try and figure it out tonight. After everything that happened, it left you mentally and emotionally drained. You just wanted to go to bed and forget it all.
But you could never forget the feeling of Shigaraki's hand around your throat. That would stick with you for a good long while. With a heavy sigh, you decided to hit the hay, and worry about it tomorrow.
thoughts on the new BNHA chapter if you've seen it
Imma be so real, i haven't been all that invested in the recent chapters. I've kept up with them but I don't find them all that interesting to me personally. I'll share my thoughts, just fair warning i may have some unpopular opinions;
First of all Izuku losing is arms is crazy. That panel is brutal. I do think there's a possibility of it being reversed/healed/etc bc I don't see Hori committing much when it comes to maiming or killing off the students, so I think he'll be okay
I'm also 100% positive Shigaraki is not dead, won't be permanently possessed, and will be fine. He's basically the only safe villain that isn't going to be killed off and will be given a redemption no matter what.
Those two points are kinda why I find this fight boring. There isn't any real stakes imo because neither of them will die and they're just kinda doing the same "fight, talk, fight, talk" thing the whole time. I find it uninteresting.
I also have no idea why afo is here again. Didn't he reverse to a fetus? Why are you here? That being said, he's silly and dramatic and i kinda love his evil mastermind swag, he makes it a little more bearable between Tomura "woe is me" shigaraki and Izuku "I need to be Morally Right even if I'm killing myself to do it" Midoryia.
Afo being revealed to have a hand in literally all of Tomura's upbringing down to his birth is SUCH a dumb plot point imo. It takes away all of the responsibly factor from Tomura's villainy, shoots a HUGE hole in the "one bad day" theme with the rest of the villains since it wasnt his choice - something that makes every other villain relatable and complex, they all (Dabi, Toga, Twice, Spinner, etc) were dealt terrible hands and subjected to horrible upbringings too but they fell into these paths of villainy by their own choices, and let it shape them. It makes them all very deep while Tomura... Just kinda ruined that theme by making nothing his choice. It's lame and unnecessary, imo.
Speaking of the other villains and plotlines, I really wanna go back to them and I DO NOT WANT them to be pulled into the Shigaraki vs deku thing. None of them are in the place for that physically (they're all half dead), none of its necessary since Shigaraki *is* being saved and has been met with more sympathy from characters/narrative than the rest of the villains, and their character plotlines are still not finished. Toga's fight was rushed, the "acceptance" she received was forced, and we don't know if either of them are okay. Last we saw Dabi he was possibly dying while cursing the entire family and saying he wants to die, none of the todofam stuff is resolved at all and if it gets off screened for the main fight I'm gonna be upset because there's so many complex layers to everything there. Last we saw Spinner he collapsed on the ground somewhere, he may very well be dead. No villains arcs have been finished, properly handled, or wrapped up and it's unnecessary and stupid to have their stuff be tossed aside for "saving Tomura." THEY need to be saved. How about Shigaraki vs deku gets wrapped up and Shigaraki saves THEM. That would fit the narrative better then them being used for more Tomura man pain.
That was a rant wow
Uh what else???
Idk. Im hoping everything gets wrapped up in this chapter bc this war arc has been... Shitty tbh. I wanna hope the aftermath arc is better.
I know everybody freaking out that my hero is coming to an end but I think we still got at least another arc to tie things together and wrap up all the mess of the war arc.
Surprise!
“Come on y/n.. Everyone is going to be there. Including your old crush.” Your face turned red “I don’t know, won’t it be all heroes?” Toga smiled “So?” It’s not like they know you, and I can disguise myself.” You sighed. “What’s wrong y/n. I think crashing a hero party sounds like a great idea!” “You turned to see Dabi standing beside Toga. You roll your eyes, “we’re not crashing a party.” Toga echoed in laughter “Fine we won’t crash it, but let’s just check it out.
As the three of you walked up the shore front, you could see heroes everywhere throughout the beach shore and house. Everyone was there, Red Riot, Chargebolt, Deku, All Might, Shoto, Uravity, Hawks, Aizawa, and so many other. Glares were exchanged as you made your way down to the beach. Toga had changed her look to a random citizen but everyone knew Dabi’s look and it wasn’t like he was shy. “What are you doing here?” You turned around to see Shoto. You opened your mouth to speak “What’s wrong baby brother, don’t like the idea of big bro coming to say hi.” You elbowed Dabi “You said we weren’t crashing!” He smiled “No, Toga said we weren’t crashing.” You glared at him in frustration. “Leave now, all of you.” Your face turned crimson as the embarrassment set in. You grabbed Toga and Dabi and began directing them away from the party. “I told you this was a bad idea.” You walked down the beach to an empty area a ways away from the party, you could still hear the music and see the flicker of the fire on the beach but that was it. Toga and Dabi decided to head back home to start their next heist planning but you wanted to hang out on the beach for a bit. It was a nice night and the stars were gorgeous. “You look lonely?” You heard a chuckle from above where you were laying. “Just enjoying the night.” The man sat down next to you “I’m sorry they kicked you out with the other guys, just cause you don’t have a quirk doesn’t mean you’re a villain.” You paused for a moment “How do you know I don’t have a quirk?” The man laughed “Cause you didn’t pose a threat which either meant you were quirkless or harmless.” You sat up and looked over “You’re Deku right?” Deku giggled “Yeah, I wanted to see if you wanted to come back to the party, I think you’ll get along with alot of us.” You smiled “Thanks, but I prefer not to be a party crasher.” Deku laughed and stood up holding out his hand “Come on, you’ll be fine if I take you.”
As Deku and you made it back to the party, a couple heroes glared but most of them looked more surprised “Deku? Why is she back here? I thought she was with Dabi and his girlfriend.” Deku tightened his grip on your hand “She didn’t go to U.A. cause I believe she’s quirkless, so she wasn’t introduced to any of us for her to have a chance at being friends with us. So Uraraka I think we should give her a fair chance. She’s met the villains and they accepted her, why can’t you do the same?” Uraraka’s face turned red and you could see her anger and jealousy grow. Deku looked at you “So are you quirkless?” You shook your head and whispered “No, I can hear what they are thinking. Uraraka thinks I’m deceiving you and that you're being naive. Shoto doesn’t trust me because I came here with his brother Dabi, and Dabi is never up to anything good, so he thinks I was sent here by Dabi. Hawks is open minded but watching me. His exact words were “Not everyone who associates themselves with Dabi is bad, look at twice, he wasn’t a bad guy, he just trusted bad people.” Deku smiled “So you aren’t quirkless?” You smiled “I just don’t have a support quirk or a hero quirk, so I was better off being in just normal school with quirkless people.” Deku smiled “But you could hear everyone’s thoughts? Wouldn’t that be loud?” You smiled “No, it isn’t like I just hear random voices, I have to focus on that person, then I can hear what they are thinking. Like you “You’ve been thinking that I remind you of when you were quirkless. But you’re intersted-” Deku shifted “Bakugou! I was wondering when you were gonna appear.” Bakugou looked down noticing you avoiding eye contact “Who’s the shrimp?” Your face reddened “My name is y/n” Bakugou chuckled “Oh, I don’t remember you from U.A..” Deku glared at Bakugou “That’s cause she doesn’t have a quirk so she didn’t attend U.A.” A smile crept across Bakugou’s face “Aww so you’re quirkless.” You looked up at Bakugou’s ruby eyes and were ambushed by his melted caramel scent. “She’s cute, it’s no wonder why Dabi kept her close over the years.” You giggled as you looked away from Bakugou “What? Did I say something funny?” You shook your head no as Deku leaned down “You shouldn’t read his mind without him knowing, he’s a touchy temper.” You smiled “He thinks I’m cute...” Deku chuckled “What’s so funny Izuku?” Deku smiled “Nothing, she was just saying how she’d like to get to know you so if you wanna show her around.” You glared at Deku “Are you kidding me!” Deku didn’t need to use his voice, you could hear his thoughts loud and clear “Oh stop, you’ll have plenty of fun, plus I seen how you looked at him when you first seen him.. I’m not stupid.” Bakugou held his hand out for you to take “I’ll show you where the bathroom is and where you can grab a drink if you want one.” You placed your hand in his and nodded “OK..”
 As Bakugou led you through the house, you could hear thoughts flood in as your eyes sifted through the glares. “Who is she?” And “why is she with Bakugou?” You looked at the floor to collect yourself from the judgement. A warm callused hand touched your face as you heard Bakugou say “Their glares are meaningless, just ignore them. It’s my party and I want you here so.” You look at Bakugou as his beautiful ruby eyes stare into your eyes. “Fuck, I sound like a complete dumbass. Well no chance in seeing her again after this shit party.” You smiled as you broke eyes contact “It’s not a shit party and you’re not a dumbass.” Bakugou tilted his head in confusion “how did you know that? You aren’t quirkless are you?” Your face reddened as you pulled your hand from his. He set off a small explosion in his hand which immediately shifted your attention back to him. He stared at you with silence using his thoughts to speak for him “you can hear me this way cant you?” You nodded “Yes..I-” Bakugou grabbed your hand and directed you through the house and back out to the beach front. “Bakugou where are we going?” Bakugou smiled “I wanna know more.” As the two of you made it down to the water away from the party, he stood only inches from your face. “Does Deku know?” “Yes” “What about the villains?” “Some of them.” Bakugou feel silent almost like he was looking for his next question as he stared out in to the open ocean. Your eyes scanned across the water before making their way back to Bakugou who sat in silence.. yet his mind wasn’t anywhere near quiet. “Has she always been this beautiful?” I don’t understand if she had a quirk, she should of been able to get into the university. would she reject me if I tried to kiss her?” Bakugou shifted his attention back to you as you looked back to the ocean trying not to show that you heard everything. “Uh, how much of that did you hear?” You laughed nervously “uh- hear what? I didn’t hear anything.” Bakugou laughed “Oh, yeah? So if I just happened to grab here” Bakugou placed his hand on your waist and pulled you towards him. “And my other hand here” His callused warm hand grazed your cheek. “And I don’t know, did this.” Bakugou’s warm soft lips pressed against yours as a buzzing sensation was sent through your body. You melted in his grasp as he pulled away just enough to speak “You didn’t know that I wanted to do that?” You giggled throwing your arms around his neck “Nope” Bakugou chuckled as he pulled you tight to his body. Your tongue grazed his bottom lip and he was more them happy to let his dance with yours. You pulled away smiling. Bakugou smirked “So does your quirk work on it’s own or do you have to use it.” You looked away “If I focus on someone too long, it does it on it’s own. I usually ignore them.” Bakugou lets you go and sat on the beach sand. As you look down he put his hand out “Come here” You smiled and took his hand as he directed you to sit on his lap. As you sat down and you boobs met his face, he pulled you into him smothering his face into your beautifully bouncy breast. Bakugou let out a loud exhale as you looked down at him “I could definitely do this everyday.” You let out a giggle as you rested your cheek on the top of his head. He pulled away “It’s not nice to listen to my thoughts when I’m not aware of it.” You giggled “Sorry but I like knowing what your mind thinks of me.” Bakugou pulled back “Then just ask. I think your sexy as fuck and beautiful and I wanna-” “Hey, Bakubro- Oh sorry, we wanted to make sure-” Bakugou lifted you off his lap and put you next to him “What the hell shitty hair? Really you brought the entire class 1-A?” Deku stepped forward “I tried to tell them I didn’t sense a threat from her so there was no reason to worry.” You stood up and walked towards the water. “Hey? where-” Deku yelled after you. You turned around “It seems like I’m unwanted here, so I’ll take my lea-” A loud explosion went off “The fuck you will! Look guys I appreciate your concern, but I think I can handle a shrimp like her.” Shoto went to speak as Hawks dropped in “Shoto, I understand your concern but not every one who associates themselves with Dabi is bad. I think you should give... Where’d she go?” Bakugou turned around to find you no where to be found.”  Bakugou turned towards everyone “Damn it!” Deku walked towards the water “She was just there, she couldn’t of gotten far.” Uraraka growled “See I told you, she shouldn’t be-” Deku turned around “Leave!” Uraraka’s face turned red. “Deku, I think she-” “Mina don’t or you can leave too.” Mina grew flustered as she walked towards Uraraka “Why are you protecting her so much! Why do you care?” Deku turned around furious as he walked towards the water “Because I know what it’s like to want to be accepted and want to fit in! I know what it’s like to be the outsider! To be the one who’s quirkless! NOW LEAVE BOTH OF YOU! Mina and Uraraka walked back towards the house “Anyone else who doesn’t wanna take Bakugou’s feelings into consideration about y/n can leave as well. Shoto, Kirishima, Denki?” Bakugou looked at Deku “Thanks..” Kirishima shook his head, “No, if Bakugou trusts her, I trust him.” Iida, shoto, and denki nodded agreeing with Kirishima. “Then lets find her.”
As you swam out as far as your body could take you, you floated staring at the star. “Y/N!!” You could hear a faint voice yelling for you. “Y/N!!” A few different voices. The water grew cold and you were losing feeling to your feet, you were also growing tired. “I just wanna sleep.” Y/N! she cant be out here much longer the water will get too cold, icy hot, you think you can heat-” “Not without knowing the direction she’s in. It would take too long to heat the entire area.” “DAMN IT!” Bakugou set of multiple explosions sending him into the air as he scanned for you.” The water grew colder as you became more tired. “Stay awake.” You felt your body begin to slow down and stop responding. “There you are.” You feel warm hands touch your body, but can’t see who it was. Then you hear a familiar giggle. “Toga?” Toga smiles “out to be drowned today are we?”  Shoto noticed a bright blue flame down the beach in the water walking towards the shore. “Bakugou!” Bakugou turned towards the direction shoto was pointing “No... they came back for her..” Kirishima turned towards Deku “You think she’s gonna go with them?” Deku nodded “By this time with how cold the water is, she’s probably going in and out of consciousness, so yes. I think they will take her and even if she is slightly conscious, they accepted her, and didn’t doubt her. So yes, I think we’re about to lose her.” Bakugou growled “Not if I have something to say about it!” Deku grabbed Bakugou’s arm “Don’t, it’ll start a war and she needs medical attention soon. She won’t make it if we fight them now. Let them take her for now, get the help she needs, we’ll follow her, and wait and  that’s if she doesn't come find you first.” A truck pulled up next to the blue flame on the beach and Bakugou watched as they put you in the back with Dabi and Toga climbed in the front seat. “Where Katsuki?” Dabi echoed in amusement “Back at the beach, we have to get you back to the house. Toga has blood back at the house that is at a temp that will bring your body temp back. “You’re warm Dabi? His face reddened “Just do me a favor, dont die.. you’re useful.” You looked up at Dabi “Why do I give a shit.. Why did I get so worried when her tracker showed her heart rate dropping.. I’m not supposed to give a fuck, she’s supposed to be a tool.” You smile and turn your head as you drift off to sleep.
Tumblr media
“Dabi. She’s stabilized and ok she just needs to rest.” Dabi smiled “Good then the plan is still in motion. Once she gets close to Bakugou, He will be be easy to crush.” Toga smiles walking up to Dabi “Your so smart Dabi!!” How’d you know he’d fall for her..” Dabi looked up at his hand as he mumbled “Cause if I fell for her, he will too.” Toga growled “Why do you like her so much “her quirk is useless, the only reason we recruited her was -” “Get off me Toga! My feelings for her as a person are irrelevant to this mission and you.” Toga dropped to the floor as Dabi shoved her off the edge of the couch.
You woke up and noticed a familiar smell “You looked over and there stood Hawks and Bakugou” You sat up urgently “What are you doing here?! You need to leave, I heard Dabi say they have a tracker on me, it gives my location and vitals, that’s how they knew I was in trouble.” Bakugou covered your mouth “SHHH! they don’t know were-” The door opened and Dabi let out a malicious laugh. “See I knew if we took her to an open location where you could find her, you’d come. And you’d be dumb enough to come, well almost alone.”  “Bakugou, leave.” You stated trying to get up.” Hawks walked over and picked you up “Were leaving.” Dabi smiled “Yeah, I don’t think you are.” Bakugou stood between Hawks and Dabi “Well I do.” Bakugou let off multiple explosions forcing Dabi back as some of the ceiling came crashing down “Hawks go!” Hawks flew through the hole Bakugou created as you screamed trying to fight your way out of his grasp “Don’t leave him there, that was their plan the entire time, I heard them on the way home, they’re using me to-” “Stop y/n, I didn’t leave him, I’m simply passing you off and then we’ll go back. Iida and Shoto are about 3 miles the other away waiting for you and then Deku, myself and Aizawa are going back to help Bakugou. You sighed “Please bring him back in one piece.” Hawks smiled as he landed placing you on your feet “Iida take her back to U.A.. Have Recovery girl check over her.” Iida nodded as Shoto started the car “Please watch your head.” shoto smiled as he opened the car door. You sighed “ok.” “y/n” You turned around “He’ll meet you at UA before sunrise, I guarantee it.” You smiled at Deku as he and Hawks and Aizawa took off into the city
As you reached U.A., recovery girl met you at the door. “She looks like she has been treated fairly well.. wait? I thought you said you were bringing me a quirkless girl? She isn’t quirkless at all.” Shoto and Iida step back from you “You lied?” You sighed “No, I just don’t talk about my quirk, it’s rather useless.” Shoto looked at you “What is your quirk?” You sighed “I can hear what’s unspoken by the mouth yet spoken in the mind.” Iida smiled “You can hear our thoughts. That’s why you felt so uncomfortable at the party, even though we said nothing, you could hear it all.” You nodded “Yes. Deku and Bakugou were the only ones that didn’t want me to leave and that were willing to give me a chance. well Hawks too.” Recovery girl stepped forward “Either way, let me take you in and do a full evaluation.” “Can you remove the tracker they implanted in me?” Recovery girl smiled “Of course y/n.” The three of you made your way to a room and recovery girl checked you over. “She will be fine, her body temperature has already returned to average and there doesn’t seem to be any permanent damage. She should take it easy after removing the tracker my quirk helps speed up the healing process not heal it immediately” You sat up off the bed “Good then lets go help Bakugou, he doesn’t know what he’s up against. Dabi is out for blood and Bakugou-” The door open  “Bakugou what?” Bakugou stood in the doorway smiling as blood ran down the side of his face. “Are you insane! Where’s Deku and Hawks and-” “We’re all fine, The rest of them stood in the hallway behind Bakugou. You jumped off the bed and ran to Deku “You’re ok!!” Deku laughed wrapping his arms around you. “I wasn’t expecting to get the first hug.” Aizawa and Hawks chuckled. Bakugou growled “What am I dog-” You let go of Deku and threw yourself into Bakugou pressing your lips against his stopping his statement midway. Bakugou’s face became reddened as he was caught off guard. Aizawa and everyone else bellowed in laughter at Bakugou as he wrapped his arms around you. As you pulled away and smiled you spoke softly “Now can we get those cuts looked at, I’m sure everyone has some we need to check out.”
“I’m… sorry about your arm, Compress.” You rubbed the back of your neck awkwardly, glancing at the metal prosthetic he now had.
“Don’t worry your pretty little head about it, dear,” Compress dismissed your concern with a wave of his hand. “Dabi explained how your Quirk works after you left the room. I would’ve much rather had lost my arm and gotten the prosthetic than having you heal the wound and lose your arm. Also, Dabi probably would’ve killed me. Shigaraki too.”
“More like forcibly removed from the room,” you grumbled, “but… yeah, understandable. And yeah, probably.”
“Oh, I definitely would have.” Dabi walked into the room, stretching his arms over his head. “Any of you fuckers put them in that much distress again, it’s over.”
“Dabi, don’t threaten him, you asshole. It’s not his fault he lost his goddamn arm,” you snapped, scowling. “Don’t be a dick.” “Yeah Dabi, don’t be a dick!” Twice called from his spot on the floor.
“Oi, don’t call him a dick.” You turned your glare to Twice. “Only I can call him a dick.”
“That doesn’t seem very fair. That’s fair!”
“Life ain’t fair.” Dabi shrugged. “‘sides, Y/N wouldn’t hesitate to stab anyone who insults me, even jokingly. I doubt the League’s excluded.”
“Unless it’s Toga. I could never stab Toga. Probably not Shig either, he’d just decay my knife and Dabi got that for me.” You grinned, a little feral. “The rest of you are fair game, though.”
“Why wouldn’t you stab me? What if I wanted you to stab me?” Toga whined, pouting. “Don’t you stab the people you love?”
“You little psychopath, stabbing isn’t a love lang—” Before Dabi could finish his sentence, he noticed the glare you had directed at him and decided to shut up. (If looks could kill, he’d be dead on the spot.)
“Please don’t stab anybody,” Kurogiri said carefully, polite as ever. “I would rather not have to clean unnecessary blood up.”
“Ain’t you a healer, anyways? You’re s’posed to be against violence or whatever.” Shigaraki walked into the room, hands in his hoodie pocket. “Anyways, I thought you didn’t like seeing the people you cared about hurt.”
“Stereotyping now, are we, boss?” You asked jokingly. “Nah, though—I know the whole “your Quirk affects your personality” thing exists, but that never applied to me. I’m fine with violence. Enjoy it, even.” You shrugged. “And a little stabbin’ never hurt anybody. I wouldn’t do too much damage, don’t worry! Nothing I couldn’t heal.”
“I can definitely confirm this. I’ve seen them fuck some people up for no reason whatsoever.” Dabi perched himself on the arm of the sofa, next to you.
“Okay, it was not for no reason whatsoever. Some guys were being assholes and insulting me and my cane and it was pissing me off. So I beat the shit out of them,” you huffed and crossed your arms. “And then Dabi set them on fire.”
“And I’d do it again.” Dabi smirked.
“I think it’s safe to say any of the League would do the same to someone insulting you, Y/N. We may be Villains, but I think we’re better than a lot of people. At least we aren’t discriminatory assholes.” Compress sounded annoyed.
“I appreciate the willingness to murder on my behalf,” you snorted, shaking your head. “And honestly? Yeah. At least we don’t judge people based on their gender, or what they look like, or whether they’re disabled or not. Can’t say that for most of society. Heroes included.”
“And we don’t judge people by their Quirks,” Spinner piped up. “You guys didn’t turn me away or look at me differently because of my heteromorphic Quirk. Most people wouldn’t even glance my way.”
“And they call us the bad guys,” Shigaraki hissed. “We’ll tear down this trash society and build a better one, where we live freely.”
You had retreated to your room shortly after that conversation, deciding to hang out in there for the rest of the evening. You were sitting on the bed with your eyes shut and your back against the pillows. Boo was curled up in a ball next to you and Nugget in your lap. You opened your eyes at the sound of Dabi’s footsteps approaching. “Hey, pretty boy.”
“I was wondering where you’d gone off to, doll. You left damn pretty quick.” He stopped by the foot of the bed.
“Checkin’ on me, pretty boy?” You asked teasingly. When you saw his unamused expression, you sighed, “I hate that you know me so well. It’s annoying.”
“Only annoying when you’re moping around, mouse,” Dabi countered, sitting down on the bed. “We both know I’m not very good at the whole feelings shit—”
“—more like the absolute worst—”
He ignored your interruption. “—but I’m pretty sure sitting in your room by yourself is doing fuck all to help.”
“Yeah yeah, Mister I-Know-Everything.” You frowned. “I just… I dunno, sometimes I get a little more frustrated about my disability than usual. I’m really not of much use to the League other than my healing ability. Sure I can fight, but I’m slower than the rest of you, more likely to get hurt or caught. It’s annoying, y’know? I don’t usually think about how I’m kinda… usel—”
“If you say useless, I will smack you.” Dabi sighed when you chuckled sheepishly. “You aren’t useless, doll. Y’think Dusty would’ve recruited you if he thought you were useless?”
“...probably not,” you groaned. “It’s really annoying when you make a point. You know that, right?”
“You hate when I’m right, you mean,” he drawled, leaning back next to you.
“Same thing, asshole.”
“Maybe you should stop being wrong all the time.” Dabi smirked.
“Maybe you should be quiet, pretty boy. I wanna be right more often,” you bit back without any real heat.
“Get good, I dunno what to tell you, mouse.”
“You are such an ass. Come into my room, disrespect me while sitting on my bed, I cannot believe this.” You stuck your tongue out at him. “What next, you getting along with Shigaraki?”
“Oh fuck that. No way in hell I’m getting along with him. Sometimes he’s more childish than Toga, no fuckin’ way,” Dabi grunted, shaking his head.
“You’re too hard on them sometimes, pretty boy. Remember, we’re all outcasts here—we might as well embrace it. Anyways, I see how you treat Toga when you think no one’s lookin’. I can see the big brother in you.” Your expression softened. “Despite her… tendencies… she’s a sweet kid. Makes sure to steal extra painkillers for me and stuff for Nug and Boo, spends time with the two of them when we’re busy…”
“Alright, alright. I get it.” Dabi flicked your forehead. “Not a word of that to anyone else, though, ya hear? Don’t need anybody thinkin’ I’ve gone soft, not to mention… y’know.”
You sighed and nodded. “Yeah. Not ‘til it’s time, I know. I still think it’s sweet, though. When you treat Toga like a little sister. It’s nice to see you let your guard down a little bit around someone other than me. You deserve to relax more than you do. I know joining the League was to work faster towards our dreams, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy ourselves when given the chance, yeah?”
He snorted, “Enjoy ourselves, huh, doll?”
“Why the hell not? We’re as free as we can be at the moment, no reason not to take advantage of that. Besides, a little bit of chaos every now and then is fun.”
“I guess I’ll let you be right every so often, mouse.”
I wish we saw more of spinner and toga’s relationship. He actively cares about her and I’m bummed he didn’t try to talk to her about twice or whatever misgivings they could share about afo’s treatment of shiggy and the rest of the league. Maybe talk about what they felt when they were on top on machia and he was destroying many lives. I remember the expressions on their faces. To be honest I wanted more nuance besides doubling down. Show some cracks in their resolve so that it’s more believable when their heroes save them.
I don’t know that I agree with every one of these specific sentiments, anon, but I do agree with the broad gist of wanting more on the League’s current circumstances.  It’s just…strange to go so long without any of them really getting to talk to each other about what’s going on.
I think some of it—in my very-predictable-for-a-Spinner-fan opinion—is the winding course Spinner has taken through the past few arcs.  Like, he goes from skeptical Stain fanboy to devotee of Shigaraki, and that’s great and I love it.  Through the war, we have Compress telling us that Spinner is Shigaraki’s most devoted follower(/adores him the most), as well as that great moment with Toga going to bail and Spinner being the one willing and able to get through to her.  It sets Spinner up in this kind of right-hand-man position, the go-between on Shigaraki’s will and the League…
…But when Shigaraki’s will gets subverted, it leaves Spinner adrift.  His understanding of Shigaraki is very tied up in the kind of person AFO raised Shigaraki to be, which presents a fine challenge for Spinner to navigate, but then he just—doesn’t do that?  He gets sidelined over into the heteromorph discrimination plot with the ex-MLA types instead?
And some of that certainly seems likely to be intentional on AFO’s part—someone who keeps trying to shove a severed hand on Tomura’s face is an asset to AFO; someone who reminds Tomura of fun times talking about video games and keeps the League together under Tomura’s auspices is not.  It being intentional doesn’t make it any less of a drag to read about, though.
(Find the rest below the jump.)
In fairness, we did get a scene with Toga reflecting on things, it was just a scene with Dabi instead of Spinner.  Dabi asking her if she was having second thoughts; Dabi telling her that if the world’s going to burn down anyway, you might as well smile.  It can’t help but hit a few of the beats of League members reaffirming what they’re doing by virtue of being between the modern League’s first two recruits, but it does feel a bit less genuine, coming as it does from Mr. “I Have My Own Goals” himself, who has never had a dedicated conversation with Toga, only stray exchanges in group scenes.(1)
Toga’s one of those who has shown cracks, though—multiple times!  She explicitly frames going and talking to Ochaco as something she’s doing to clear up her muddled feelings—when Ochaco rejects her (from her own perspective, at least), she even says, “My confusion’s all cleared away.”  Later, she goes back to her childhood home, looking over all the graffiti, all the vitriol, in a scene that feels very much like an intentional parallel to Ochaco going out to look at the damaged city—both of them are reminding themselves of what came before at a time when they’re faltering.  And then Toga even goes and asks Deku a bunch of the same questions she asked Ochaco!
Toga’s faltered a bunch of times; it’s hardly her fault heroes keep missing the window.
As to a scene with Spinner specifically, it would be nice to get a Rule of 3 capstone on their scenes thus far, and talking about AFO and Shigaraki’s current state could fit the bill.  Their first scene was about why they came to the League (past), their second was about what the League is to them now (present), and a third could naturally hit on what the League should be, what it will become under AFO as opposed to what Shigaraki had wanted it to be (future). As long as Kurogiri remains an unanswered question, I suppose the possibility is still on the table, though I have significant concerns about Spinner and company actually pulling out a victory right now.
Finally, as to the idea of showing cracks so it’s believable when heroes save them, my feeling there is that it’s kind of on heroes to make the first move there.  It's much like Nedzu says in 323: people in this society are trapped in a self-defeating pattern, a cycle of pain and revenge where slights pile up and pile up, and no one is willing to be the first to hold out a hand, for fear that it will be met with a fist.
Indeed, we’ve watched Toga hold out a hand twice, and be rejected twice.  She was very clear with Ochaco that her way of living is painful and difficult, and all Ochaco had to tell her was, “If you’re going to live the way you want, you have to live with the consequences.”  Deku manages to scrape up some empathy for Toga’s feeling of wanting to be like the people she likes, but immediately diverts into the same message of, “You will never be understood or accepted,” that Curious said Toga was doomed to when he follows up with, “I would never want to hurt someone I love!”
Toga doubles down because she doesn’t see what the heroes are offering as acceptable.  In fact, I’d be hard-pressed to say the heroes are offering anything besides Torture Prison Forever.(2)  “Suppress your true desires and live a lie for the rest of your life” wasn’t acceptable to Toga; why on earth would Tartarus be?
Likewise, Spinner has decided to dedicate his life to Shigaraki, and as far as we’ve seen, the only thing the heroes have to offer Shigaraki right now is premeditated extrajudicial murder. But even if we're meant to read Spinner's loyalty to Shigaraki as just following his new Stain, Spinner's original problem stands, too: there's been no implication whatsoever that heteromorphobia is even on the heroes' radar as a problem that needs to be addressed.
I’d love to see Spinner and Toga talk about how doing AFO’s work is not what they signed on for, but until they have a reason to suspect the heroes will offer them anything besides misery or death, I don’t expect them to do anything besides continue to double down. In that respect, they’re really just doing what Shigaraki’s been doing the whole time: coming back worse every time the heroes go for “winning” rather than “saving.”
...But seriously, would it have been so hard to sneak in a single scene of anyone in the League/PLF talking about Shigaraki's current predicament and what it meant going forward?
Thanks for the ask, anon! Sorry for the belated, and very half-and-half answer.
---
1:  Dabi had much more going on with Twice, and one significant exchange with Shigaraki post-recruitment.  A scene with Mr. Compress, check, a significant exchange with Spinner, check—actually, I think Toga’s the only one Dabi didn’t have a dedicated conversation with before 342.
2:  And knowing what I know about the Japanese justice system, very likely execution.
To be fair I feel it's unfair coz what made Muscular the way he is? And how is a simple convo that would go the same with Shiggy enough to convince? Rappa is a good guy coz hes a chaotic neutral trope but he couldn't care less about Eri being tortured but coz he just is a meathead who is implied to have fought with parents and run off to be a fighter he's a good guy suddenly. Also we know Overhaul's tragedy but he's a nobody? And why forget Moonfish, Mustard and the other "good"er Yakuzas?
On one hand, I always felt the manga will go this way. Deku is a better hero than All Might, that's established from the start. A number of themes were raised to show society's flaws like abuse, poverty, and prejudices that pushed people into villainy. It could be guessed that one of the way Deku's time would be different from All Might's is that the approach to fixing society would be more structural and not symbolic. Villain rehabilitation is hinted at here and there. They are not all evil and some of them just ended up in bad circumstances
On the second hand, Hori doesn't go all in with delivering this message. 1) Maybe because the manga is so overfilled with characters and themes or 2) maybe he doesn't want to make stances that would end up too political. Criminal rehabilitation is an actual real-life thing, writing it openly and clearly as a good thing is making a statement. It's a bit softer to talk about "saving" the bad guys and making villains way too sympathetic. 3) It also feels like a lack of knowledge on how exactly such things work. Like he never encountered an absolutely tragic person, who suffered greatly because of their stupid harmful actions and yet refused any help. It's naïve to expect you can save anyone and he tries to put it with Muscular's case but then. The line between who can be saved and who can't is unclear. It's blurry. Why is one character treated this way and another pretty the same differently? This hypocrisy is fine in storytelling (they are just not important as a character) but bad if you want to drive a message across... And 4) showing something as a better solution will require you to criticize the previous solutions. That Horikoshi doesn't do at all. He wants to keep All Might as a symbol of perfection while showcasing all the dirt under the rug. His solution was purely cosmetic, why not say it out loud? It didn't fix anything, it just made people safe for as long as one (1) man is alive and well. The worst security system I have ever seen. In conclusion, Horikoshi doesn't go all out, doesn't apply the "rules" to everyone, and ends up inconsistent, like he doesn't understand how certain thing works, making it all sound unbelievable
On the third hand, is shounen action manga with plenty of violence a place to say violence is bad at all? There are a lot of "rules of the genre" and heroes fighting villains is a classic one, yet Horikoshi ends up making a statement against violence or killing villains. But then they have to kill AFO without any questions. He points out that the thing™ is bad but our heroes were doing the thing™ from the very start and they don't end up overthinking their ways. He questions the rules of the genre without subverting them. It's a one-time thing that doesn't change anything globally so we end up with big major points that lead to anything. It feels like a conflict between what Horikoshi tries to say and what kind of story he writes (probably tied to previous point)
On the fourth hand, I was in a twitter argument about this ones and I really enjoy winning it post factum
Muscular is bad because he is bad, born this way perhaps but Toga is bad (born this way) and we pity her. Muscular is bad because he enjoys suffering but then so does Dabi and he is given more sympathy than ever. They deserve saving because they are the main characters is what I am thinking and Muscular is there to be shown a lesson. I wish it was one of the main cast who could be used for it, that would drive the point better but that would mean having a good nuanced position on something and making a statement and being smart
I would say Rappa is in the gray area, not really a good guy but he plays this role in Vigilantes. Curious. I wished that Shie Hassaikai would join the heroes at the end to showcase the growth perhaps but ugh eh why do this
I need to wrap this whole thing up. I think Hori wanted to write a smart manga with criticism of society but ended up writing some Naruto-style mess where so many things are happening that nothing really matters. You give up trying to find a point but then there are so many hints here and there that fandom arrives at the opposite ideas and fights all day long. LoV are revolutionaries let's go
Nah, because even though I don't think that ochako's character should only be revolved around midoriya, but we can't act like we didn't see this coming.
Like one of the biggest reasons that the whole ochako v. toga arc exists is because of midoriya. Back in the whole summer camp arc, toga called out ochako and told her that there was a boy she liked and claimed that she completely understood what it was like to have a crush (the difference was how toga expressed her love compared to ochako). Toga also told ochako that there was a boy she liked that reminded her of midoriya, and that she wanted to have a talk about midoriya with ochako
The overall conclusion to this arc was ochako was trying to connect with toga. she's trying to help toga heal and tell her that her feelings are valid, and that how the way she expresses love was okay.
Plus all ochako said in that speech was that she developed a crush on midoriya along the way. She said other things in the speech, such as her reason to becoming a hero and her wanting to help people and how she admires people like toga.
Like, I get it for people who dont ship izch and feel like hori has let them down, but 1, lets not act like ochako's character was ruined because of admitting she liked someone (I can see the counter-argument, but read what I just said earlier, midoriya was going to be talked about, regardless), and 2, everything is still fair play. We dont know how it's going to end. if it ends up being an izuocha ending, fine, it's not the end of the world, we'll read fanfiction. But if it doesn't and either another izu-ship/ocha-ship becomes canon or everything is left to interpretation, that's also fine.
Honestly, I'm happy that hori didnt do the whole "I love deku-kun better than you and you're feelings dont matter compared to mine" route.
My Top Posts in 2022:
So I don’t usually talk about the king aka Shigaraki in my rants...so I want to reticify that.
Before I move on...just to be clear. I do love Shiggy. This is not me being a hater and if you have a different opinion about Shiggy...ok. That’s valid.
My main grip about Shiggy... is how he has no real end goal. I know people here on tumblr have analyses, essays and whatnot about how Shiggy must be the Messiah that will get rid of bad heroes or capitalism or anything like that.
I like this idea. I would read a fic like that.
The problem is when people really think in Hori’s canon...Shiggy is indeed a messiah who will set all the fair people free from the unjust system.
Like, dont we all live in a shit society? I can’t speak for all but in my country we rather revult about Superman’s son kissing a man than...a genocide president who mock the victims of covid.
And yeah in moments like this....is nice going to escapism. People facing na evil ruler/regime and bringing real changes for the kingdom and everyone is happy.
I get it. I like those stories.
But on Shiggy’s part. On Hori’s canon part...we dont know what HE wants.
Duh he wants destruction. One may say.
Ok...he wants to destroy the heroes....ok then I ask
Does he want a literal destruction? Are we rooting for a villain who wants to commit genocide?
(In the war arc he did many bad thinga and yes we can say “AFO controlled him” sure but he still had some control over his action to a certain point and he shows no remorse)
Does he wants a metaphorical destruction?
Does he plans in making something anew?
What Shiggy wants? ( aside a fine 🥦)
We dont know...we will never know as AFO is treating Shiggy as his flesh puppet for reasons unknown for us.
I know there are many posts saying “shiggy will end the corruption” and I have to say...NO HE WONT. Not on Hori’s canon.
Shiggy’s motivation/goals arent totally his. His father hated heroes. AFO increased that to 11.
Shiggy is not speaking about the flaws of the hero society to everyone but more about how the society failed him. How no one saved him.
(He wanted to be saved by Zuzu but...headed by Hori...look if Hori had made them inferact and had a relationship that would have been amazing but, again, headed by Hori 🙄)
Shiggy speaks about his pain and trauma and I notice how the victims in the story need to be shut and accept their abuser ( case point, look at how hori treats Izu)
Shiggy is vilanize and abused by the narrative for daring to want revenge on his pain.
And again, headed by hori, its a bit hard to forgetten Shiggy’s action and LoV’s (Says the person who likes the idea of them winning with Zuzu)
This make me think of MCU Loki...and how he killed many people in the first avanger’s movie.
Sure. He killed of screen and all are faceless and nameless but here the thing...if we are to accept Loki was brainwashed by Thanos...even so, he indirectly killed those people....does he feel remorse?
Bc LoV and Shiggy show no remorse. Asad backstory is not free card for a character to do whatever.
Also for the togaocha out there....in hori’s canon THIS IS HORSE SHIT. Look ship what you want, I BET YOU CAN BE BETTER THAN HORI HERE.
But Toga trying to kill Ochako, mentioned how she used her quirk to kill and then is surprised that Ochako is grossed out by her....IS NOT TRACING A ANTAGONIST RELATIONSHIP
That is Hori being stupid.
I make this post in the hopes some people watch, read and stay mad. It's 2022 and if you still write any Izu shipping fic- regardless with who- where bk is important for Zuzu or the shipping.
You are shipping wrong! And I say this 100% right and certain of this.
Not saying WHO yoi should ship, but when you ship someone- any ship of any fandom- the general consensus is for 2 characters to be together and happy.
And I know some may say "I ship two villains. They do fucked up shit" ok. Then they are fucked up but in love.
And now you wonder "what's matter? If we ship character A abusing gaslight character B, its not as if we are condoning such acts"
TRUE! I can't stress this enough. Liking dark content is not a sin or illegal, but it's sus how the MHA fandom takes Izuku Midoriya and puts him in awful and abusive situations in the name of "love"
A certian server in the discord seems to make Izu the eternal victim, the one who needs to sacrifice everything to be with his lover...who wont sacrifice anything.
And think back how the number of abusive relationships show in the media are awful...See, any "romance" mainstreaming.
And I mention this bc...why is so hard to make healthy relationships?
I ship shigadeku...and the ship can be healthy even if Zuzu falls to the dark side.
You can ship Izuocha and not make Ochako laugh when BK mistreat Izu.
You can ship Izux anyone. And not make him "cant function without my love interest"
You can make healthy and interesting. Also, the whole myth "fucked up relationships are more interesting to read" is not true.
I wouldn't read any Joker X Harley comic...
But I would love to read a Poison Ivy x Harly comic.
You know, thanks to a discussion with @professionalranter31 I realize something....Shiggy may be the only person, in canon, who really react positively (more or less) to Izu being quirkless.
Like Inko criies her heart out and apologise to him (never will like that nor the scene)
AM dont talk about his past. Yes, he said Izu cant be a hero but it wasnt bc of he is evil...it was to soare him (but I do think he was wrong as not every hero faces a villain like AFO. Also, if AFO didn't exist or was dead would AM agree Izu can be a hero?)
And....
BK, please. You guys know what he thinks. His "iconic" line of suicide baiting tells you everything.
Just it.
Shiggy?
"Ah he is quirkless? Ok whatever" and he is the villain. He couls have said smth equally or worse than what BK said. Could have said smth qorse to Izu's face "quirkless good is a dead one" and yet... he never says this.
The villain is more chill about it than....everyone else.
And the love interest, Ochako, knows shit about Izu...Like wow.
I never did a rant about a ship before bc I always thought someone else could do a better job defending it but, considering how this fandom is...maybe I should give my 2 cents for shigadeku
Note: please. I’m note here to cause any ship war. You ship what you want. If you dont like shigadeku then that’s fine.
That’s out of the way, lets talk about this ship. Now, Hori is a bad writer but even in his bad canon...shigadeku does have interesting and “strong” foundations.
I put “” here bc any ship headed by Hori will be bad written. I know this.
Both are different sides of the same coin. Both are outcasts, both have quirks that caused them pain.
And both are alone.
Now, what we know about shiggy is that he is being manipulated by AFO since a young age.
* I want to mention here how...in the hands of a better writer, the name deku could mean smth omen and AFO could call shiggy deku either in front of him or to his back to add more paralels and development for the 2 like, Izu stood up and says/make bk stop calling him deku is great but imagine him defending shiggy?*
oK think with me. In any sci fi/fantasy movie when a character is being mind controlled or groomed...what would stop him to finished the task is seeing the hero/loved one bc would be the begin for the character to.set free.
“I was supposed to kill this person but I dont want ....for now” and develop from there.
Now, when we meet Shiggy is into the hate AFO spill. He has 0 reasons for wanting AM dead.
“Ahhh but AM represent how this society is bad”
Great answer and idea for a fic. But in canon he never gives a real answer. “I hate AM” is his get go....no further explanation.
But how funny he saw Zuzu and staet wanting to talk to him. No one put this idea in his head.
No AFO.
No Kotaro.
Its all Shiggy.
He, still under AFO’s bullshite, went to see Zuzu. And yes we get the mall scene but what many fans oddly refuse to admit is how...he went to Zuzu on his own free will.
THAT IS HUGE. Especially considering SHIGGY IS GROOMED (that is not fanfic that is canon and I do hate hori’a canon)
He has a photo of Izu...who by the time was just a student.
Like this has a HUGE potential. And I dont get why people refuse to reconize that?
If this stoey was headed by a competent writer shigadeku would be a more prevalent relationship.
They arent mortal enemies...they are two hurt boys stuck in this stupid war and decide to stop the feud.
God this line above is more romantic.
For those wondering...I did watch boku already liking IzuOcha but...Hori sideline Ochako and her feelings so much.
“Ah and the cute moments? Izuocha will be canon, not shigadeku”
I Know. And I have no problems with this ship- if we compare with naruto’s canon ship- but it doesnt change how underveloped it is. Also, Izu could have cute moments with Mina too and no one will say they are endgame.
Not sure if my point is clear. All I’m saying is that Shigadeku has such romantic potential and you dont need to turn Izu into “soft cinnamon roll” or change Shiggy into “playboy” to make it work.
“Ah gross. Shiggy is older than Zuzu”
3 or 4 years isnt a big deal. I mean, Shiggy was a 17 years old when the story begins and that didnt stop anyone to ship shiggy witb dabi or eraserhead who are older than him.
My #1 post of 2022
You know, I think we all own an apology to Kishomoto. Why? His ending wasn't bad written...it fits perfectly with the narrative presented.
Naruto was never about the underdog nor a chosen one who will break the cycle of abuse
No.
Naruto was a story about a fascist and imperalist goverment who will gladly and gleefully stomp overr your body unless you have some utility for them.
The will of fire is not a cutesy thing. It's a propaganda...and it was never challanged.
Sending kids to war.
Breaking yourself for your nation.
Naruto, the mc, never wanted to change anything...he wants the prestige. He wants to be hokage so he can get attention.
Sakura and Naruto both are toxic in regards Sasuke. The victim of genocide - who is paint as a bad person for not wanting to go back to konoha- is in the wrong and needs to be taught a lesson.
Sasuke is not allowed to disagree with a goverment who said ok to genocide of his clan.
Sakura is so yandere for Sasuke...and that checks. You can say is sexism but not is out of character. She dump her friend- mind you in this case Sakura was 10 years old- bc she feared her friend could get the attention of Sasuke.
Naruto was never one to change anything bc all he wanted was to be at the top. Not change anything.
Naruto wasn't a tale of hope. But of dispair.
Just because Valeriu wasn't home, didn't mean he couldn't celebrate Samhain like he did back in Amorium. Sadly, finding phoenix feathers and glow worm paint on Earth proved a very difficult task, and so, Valeriu was forced to improvise. The fae spent that entire month collecting red and gold shinies, things that resembled feathers and scales, and what he couldn't find, he weaved for himself with his own silk. Eventually, Vali had created his own very own make-shift phoenix costume. It maybe wasn't as elegant or complex as he usual costume, but it did its job of being colorfully flamboyant, eye catching and revealing. He couldn't find anything that quite resembled the intense glow of glow worm paint, and Erastus warned him against using glow sticks as a replacement. So, he settled for regular UV paint. He wanted to show himself off, just as he would at the multitude of wild parties that would surely consume his days and nights were he back home. What better way to achieve something similar than to crash the Halloween event the club hosted? Though, he wouldn't really be crashing. Erastus invited him. In fact, he was expecting him. Vali waited until Erastus exited the elevator before he ambushed his vampire lover in a flurry of scarlet and gold, soft feathers and smooth scales. Vali pressed his body up against Erastus, smiling brightly. His chest was uncovered, in fact he likely would need nipple pasties to keep himself 'proper' in the public eye if his long hair didn't already do a good enough job of covering up his indecency. From head to toe, Vali was covered in an array of different colored feathers and frills, in the hues of a sunset, and he dragged a peacock-like train behind him. "Do you like my costume? I told you I would make a costume from scratch," Valeriu purred, kissing Erastus on the lips. "Do you think everyone else will like my costume, too?" He grinned coyly. He looked the vampire up and down, and then tilted his head. "What is your costume?" He asked, obviously loss on any pop culture visual short-hand that would give Valeriu a clue of what Erastus was dressed like. He would experience this sort of confusion *a lot* tonight.
Erastus was more than a little taken off guard by the sudden tackle, but the surprise was quite pleasant when he realized who was suddenly all over him. "Valeriu, you lil bastard, I thought you'd meet me at the club!" He laughed before looking the fairy up and down. Damn. Just. Damn.
Tumblr media
"You are... looking fine as could be tonight," he said, and meant it too. Erastus never went the extra mile for his costumes. Mostly because they'd be pretty much unwearable by the time the night was over. "You're going to be the center of attention, no one is going to be able to resist you."
His arm wrapped around Valeriu's shoulders, he guided him out of the building and to the car waiting out front. Tina was in the driver's seat, dressed as a Roman Empress and also looking fine as hell, but her jaw dropped at Valeriu. "Okay, wow, I feel underdressed," she laughed before she started up the car.
As to the question, Erastus felt a bit flustered. "I'm a Roman Emperor, I usually try to match with Tina," he nodded up to the driver's seat, where Tina blew a kiss back. "It's also easy to get the toga up and out of the way for all the fun tonight. Club's got a room all ready for my private party. Eat, drink, be merry... and get fucked in every way you like."
Speaking of that... Erastus pulled the fairy into his lap. "Might as well get started, right?" he said with a grin, grasping onto Valeriu's chest. "With these out I just can't help myself..."
"No fair! I'm stuck driving!" Tina laughed before picking up some speed. She wasn't going to be left out of the fun for long, not if she had anything to say about it.
Thoughts on the whole thing:
There are some pretty fair critiques about AFO being involved. This post by @hamliet explains those pretty valid annoyances.
HOWEVER
I think the biggest take away here is that literally no responsibility is taken off of Endeavor. Even though two creepy predator adults were involved, their impact was technically minimal as far as Touya's mentality goes.
It was literally stated outright that Endeavor's impact on Touya could not be undone by them. If that isn't assigning responsibility for the thousandth time, idk what is.
Now, Touya and his family. We already knew through subtle (not so subtle) details Hori gave us, but Touya wants his family back. And before people say "he doesn't want them NOW AJOW;RNG;AOW", first of all--hush.
Idk if anybody has noticed (many have but many haven't apparently) but, we are in the "things get much much worse before they get better" phase:
Shigaraki:
He's literally like...one moment away from disappearing. Tenko is almost gone, as evidenced his scars (a clear sign of Tomura's individuality) fading from his face. He's not gone yet, but he's almost there. Deku will get to him in time.
Toga:
She's done with heroes. She's done trying to get the attention of Ochacko, Deku, and Tsuyu. Something she's been trying to do the entire story, she's given up on. She's ready to reject the world. Ochacko will change her mind.
Touya:
He's literally a skeleton. He's rejecting his family (who loves him, one of which is literally right in front of him trying to keep him from doing what he wants which is to burn to a crisp). He's melting, burning, things look hopeless. Touya will be fine, and Shouto will reach him, and remind Touya of the part of his home that he wanted to return to.
This is the "oh FUCK are they gonna make it??!!" part of the story. The surprise twist is next.
BnHA Chapter 320: Deku vs. Class 1-A
Previously on BnHA: Flashback!Kacchan was all “fuck Deku and fuck his stupid goodbye letters, I need to speak to somebody in charge.” Endeavor was all “hello, I am Somebody In Charge.” Kacchan was all “listen up asshole, you need to let us go out and collect our wayward nerd because you stupidly left him alone with All Might and that’s a fast track to disaster right there.” Endeavor was all, “[self-incriminating silence].” Rat Principal was all, “okay sure, have fun kids.” Back in the present, class 1-A was all “hi Deku” and Deku was all “I’M FINE!!!!!” and Kacchan was all “THAT’S WHAT I THOUGHT YOU’D SAY YOU DUMB FUCKING NERD” and so the kids all got ready to fight, because OF COURSE they’re gonna fight. Sorry guys, but yeah it’s happening.
Today on BnHA: Kacchan is all “what’s up Deku you look like a possessed Rorschach test, so anyway how are the new quirks coming along.” Deku is all “they’re coming along like THIS” and uses Smokescreen to try and get away. Kacchan is all “PHASE ONE COMMENCE”, and Kouda, Sero, Jirou, and Ojiro leap into the fray to shower Deku with heaps of love and violence, because this is a shounen manga and kicking someone’s ass while simultaneously proclaiming your undying admiration for them is just how it’s done in these parts. The KoudaSeroOJirou squad then passes the baton to Satou, Momo, Tokoyami, Kaminari, and Shouji, who are all “fuck this mask” and do a bunch of stuff to tear Deku’s mask off because they’re the real heroes. Shouto is all “LOOK AT THE LITTLE CRYBABY, THAT’S RIGHT, GO AHEAD AND FUCKING CRY and by the way let us share your burden please,” and once again I swear this is all very deeply moving and touching within the actual context. The chapter ends with Tsuyu being all “look at me. I’m the cliffhanger now,” and damn.
lol what
Tumblr media
I don’t think anyone was expecting that. I mean, not that I’ve got anything against Tsuyu or anything. anyways it’s a very nice cover and I love the colors and I hope this means Tsuyu’s gonna do something badass
also, “Deku vs Class A” -- pretty much the expected title, but it’s still got me hyped nonetheless fuck yeah let’s go
IIDA ANGST
Tumblr media
Iida Tenya really said “fuck the uniform code, we’re leaving the helmet at home today.” sorry kids, prim and proper C-3PO Comic Relief Iida has left the building. can I interest you in some Serious Iida
meanwhile Kacchan is all “sup Deku, I heard you got a few more quirks, and might I just add that you look like the Snyder Cut of Detective Pikachu”
Tumblr media
“you look like a tarred and feathered squid” okay easy there Kacchan. I mean it’s all true of course, but still
“thank you all for coming” OH EXCUSE ME SON, WERE YOU PLANNING ON GOING SOMEWHERE. LET’S JUST SEE HOW THAT PLAYS OUT
yep and there’s Smokescreen, right on cue
Tumblr media
okay Horikoshi, I leave it in your hands. hopefully you can come up with some more interesting combos than my dumbass predictions lol
LOL THIS ISN’T A COMBO AT ALL
Tumblr media
“explosions solve everything” -- Horikoshi Kouhei, 2021. something something shockwave, something something handwave ta-da no more smoke. lol okay then
oh, ouch
Tumblr media
he would know, wouldn’t he. nice application of one of your many hard-earned life lessons, Kacchan
by the way you guys, just as an experiment, I’m going to try to anticipate some of the discourse this week in the hopes of preemptively addressing it and thus saving myself some time later on lol. so here’s our first test run!
ANTICIPATED DISCOURSE: “oh my god what a fucking hypocrite can you believe this fucking guy”
PREEMPTIVE REBUTTAL: it’s precisely because Kacchan has been in this exact situation himself that he’s able to recognize his past self in Deku now and call him out on it. just because it took him sixteen years to get it through his head that he can’t accomplish every single thing completely by himself doesn’t mean Deku has to go down that same path. so yeah, maybe it is a bit hypocritical, but if you insist that the only people qualified to call out stupid shit are people who have never done a single stupid thing in their own lives, then what you’re basically saying is that absolutely no one on earth is qualified lol. so yeah, I’d have to disagree
and one last unrelated note, I’m willing to bet the whole “you didn’t even say a word before you ran off” thing is possibly the first thing Kacchan’s said in this whole encounter that actually does stem from genuine hurt rather than his tough-love-harsh-truths strategy. I’M TAKING NOTES HERE HORIKOSHI. at this rate it’ll take twice as many chapters as DvK2 for them to hash out all the stuff between them, geez
anyway so I gotta say, so far Deku vs. Class A is looking an awful lot like a DvK3 wearing a hat, trenchcoat, and sunglasses lol
OH SHIT I TAKE IT BACK??
Tumblr media
FUCK YEAH, YOU GO KOUDA. and I guess he ditched his mask as well! excellent
so far the strategy here seems to be “Kacchan says all the mean tough love shit while the rest of 1-A balances it out with warmth and kindness”, which actually works pretty well imo. Deku is one of those people that doesn’t usually need a Kacchan Translator anyway, but just in case, this is very efficient
mm but of course Deku is slingshotting himself away with Blackwhip. all right then, who’s up next!
FUCK YEAH
Tumblr media
okay but seriously you guys, what is going on with Sero’s face in these last couple of chapters though, it’s really starting to unnerve me. is he trying to emulate Kacchan’s whole asymmetrical facial expressions thing?
in fact let me just quickly hit pause here because,
ANTICIPATED DISCOURSE: “SERO IS TOGA??!”
PREEMPTIVE REBUTTAL: no
oh snap looks like Jirou’s getting in on the action too!
Tumblr media
poor Jirou probably spent days racking her brain trying to think of something she could bond with Deku over. is Horikoshi doing these in reverse order of the kids who have had the most interaction with him? that would explain why poor Kouda didn’t get a flashback lol
omg. well that answers that
Tumblr media
so by my count, Satou and Hagakure are the only ones remaining in this first tier of kids who Still Appreciate Midoriya even though they’ve barely ever spoken two words to him in their lives lol. so they’ll probably be next, and then we’ll get to the next tier of kids who are pretty good friends with him but not quite besties. and then we’ll move on to the IidaRokiRaka trio, and then lastly, to the boy who is in a tier all his own
BUT FIRST, A WORD FROM OUR SPONSOR
Tumblr media
and by “sponsor” I mean the Dekuangst. just in case that wasn’t clear. indeed, many thanks to the Dekuangst for making this all possible
(ETA: okay so this whole “take me away” line seemed pretty weird to me, and sure enough it’s yet another one of those cases where only the verb is specified, and the object is left to the reader’s interpretation. so even though the translation says “take me away”, I’m pretty sure that what Deku’s actually saying is “take you away” -- as in, his loved ones will be taken away by AFO.
and that is literally the way he phrases it, though -- the verb used is “奪う” (ubau), meaning “to snatch away; to dispossess; to steal.” which, god, that hurts my whole goddamn heart though, because for him to say it like that?? not “AFO will kill you”, but “AFO will take you away from me.” he can’t have nice things anymore because of AFO. he can’t be around the people he loves because AFO will hurt them. he can’t have happiness because AFO will take it away from him. anyway so where the fuck is AFO right now, motherfucker I just want to talk.)
by the way can Ojiro just extend his tail to whatever fucking length he wants or what because it’s like twelve feet long in this panel lol
WOOO FUCK YEAH TOKOYAMI
Tumblr media Tumblr media
YOU LOVE TO SEE IT!! BUT WHERE’S YOUR FLASHBACK? YOU’VE HAD A BUNCH OF INTERACTIONS WITH HIM, THAT’S NOT FAIR
okay so now Satou’s stepping in which is back to my anticipated order, so maybe Toko will finish his little moment afterward
dskfjfkk
Tumblr media
“REMEMBER THAT TIME DEKU BORROWED SATOU’S FOOD COLORING” Horikoshi says, sweating. “AND REMEMBER THAT TIME HE, UM, SMILED IN HAGAKURE’S GENERAL DIRECTION”
actually I am curious about what Hagakure’s part will be because, you know, the whole traitor thing lol
(ETA: funny how we just skipped right over it huh. can we get a traitor reveal countdown started here? definitely getting close to that time.)
whoa lol wtf
Tumblr media
MOMO??? THIS HAS MOMO WRITTEN ALL OVER IT DAMMIT
-- SWEET MOTHER OF FUCK
Tumblr media
“SORRY MIDORIYA-SAN, I LEFT MY FUCKING CHILL AT HOME IN THE LOCKER NEXT TO IIDA’S HELMET” holy shit lmao
and here I thought she’d get a flashback to her time on the Baku Rescue Squad or something. but nope, no flashbacks from Momo, only terrifying sci-fi torture devices
poor Dark Shadow is such a trooper omg
Tumblr media
“why am I the only one who has to make prolonged contact with his smelly disgusting self” taking one for the team there DS
FUCK YEAH KAMINARI NO JUTSU
Tumblr media
THE PRICKLY BASTARD WHISPERER STRIKES AGAIN!! don’t suppose you brought any clean clothes you could sneakily force him into huh Kami
okay here we go, so now Shouji and Tokoyami are joining forces
um excuse me this is fucking awesome
Tumblr media
wonder how he’ll break free? don’t think he’ll reveal Fa Jin until the end of the chapter, so maybe Air Force or something? idk
TOKO GETS AN EXTENDED MOMENT BECAUSE HE IS A TIER TWO PATREON REWARD LEVEL FRIEND YAY
Tumblr media
WHY IS MOMO MAKING THIS FACE LOL YOUR THING WAS WAY WORSE
Tumblr media
and Shouji just casually hitting him with what is easily the best comment from anyone yet. too bad Deku’s just gonna ignore it. you deserve better Shouji
KAMINARI OMFG
Tumblr media
it only just occurred to me that Kami is currently trapped inside Dark Shadow right along with him lmao omg. realest one in the entirety of BnHA, right here. we will never forget your sacrifice
aaaaaaand Deku’s yeeting himself
Tumblr media
do you really hate the thought of taking a bath that much my dude
oh shit the mask!!
-- oh shit the feels
Tumblr media
o(TヘTo)
fuck. and I mean, we knew he was crying, that was a done deal. but still, to see him in this much pain is just...
and the acknowledgement that he knows they’re worried about him, but that it doesn’t change his mind one bit. this, right here, is why they have to be a bit harsh with him, you guys. because they’re up against the full, unbridled stubbornness of Midoriya fucking Izuku, and if they don’t match that stubbornness with an equal stubbornness of their own, they basically don’t stand a chance
(ETA: quick note that there is apparently another mistranslation here -- rather than saying that his friends are oblivious to the danger, what Deku is actually saying is that none of his friends have activated his Danger Sense once throughout this entire fight. which I had been wondering about, and it turns out Horikoshi actually confirmed it. so basically none of the kids bears any ill intent toward him, and there’s literal proof right there.
incidentally, as @class1akids pointed out, this also casts an interesting light on this chapter in terms of who hasn’t fought Deku yet. not to play the Hagakure Traitor Music for the billionth time you guys, but I’M JUST SAYING lol.)
anyway, but the good news is that they all seem to understand that. and the even better news is that we have reached the tier 3 friends!!
Tumblr media
“OR ELSE” lol, great to see Shouto wielding his friendship just as aggressively as Deku once did towards him. I do love a good role reversal
p.s., ANTICIPATED DISCOURSE: “why is Shouto being so cruel to Deku can’t he see how hard this is on him”
PREEMPTIVE REBUTTAL: this is a callback to the classic “even heroes cry when they have to” Shouto line from chapter 137. Shouto is clearly following Kacchan’s lead here and going for the more ruthless approach, knowing that the gentle approach isn’t getting through to him (if anything it’s only making him more stubborn as we saw on the previous page). basically it’s his way of pointing out that even heroes are still only human, and so is Deku last time he checked
ah okay, and there Tsuyu is at last
Tumblr media
okay real talk, I get why Tsuyu is included in the tier 3 friends, because she was one of the first people to team up with Deku going all the way back to USJ. but that said, this probably would have had more impact if their most recent interaction hadn’t been like 150 chapters ago
but anyway though it’s still a good speech. maybe not quite a cliffhanger-level speech, but a good speech nonetheless. in a way though, I’m glad to see that Horikoshi seemingly didn’t give a fuck whether he ended this on an actual cliffhanger or not for once
and that “headed toward the climax” part has me excited too, ngl. because if we really are getting to the so-called climax this soon, that makes me even more certain that there is indeed a DvK3 in the forecast. so I presume that next week (or I guess two weeks from now) will be the tier 3s along with the remaining tier 2s like Kirishima and Aoyama
and then after that, well... [orange and green banners being hoisted] [sound of screeching airhorns and vuvuzelas in the distance] [sound of All Might approaching in his car which I didn’t notice until I looked back at this page a second time whoops] THE PROPHECY WILL NOT BE DENIED
