#tohru and her orange family

Would it be possible to request a male Kyo Sohma reader (for the Remarried Empress) who's a (begrudgingly) visiting Prince sent with his cousin Yuki (who, also begrudgingly, acts as his secretary despite being a Prince as well) to gain favor of The Emperor during the New Year Ceremony. The Empress catches Reader's eye (platonically, since he's already interested in someone from his country) and they form a bond.
He's outraged on her behalf (though he can't really act on it) but offers to gather any information she may need, even dragging his cousin into it as well. Her Majesty finds herself getting letters from an orange cat and a pretty silver rat.
A small time issue ends up with the cat being exposed as Reader being the cat who admits to it being a pretty risky idea to begin with.
(I don't know where I was trying to go with this, I was mostly wondering about the cast's reaction to such a strange pair)
Preface: You are originally from this world and not isekai’d. You are the Crowned Prince of the Southern Kingdom (completely made up place), sent by your family to go gain the favor of the Emperor of the Eastern Empire.
Tumblr media
Sovieshu
Even before you met the Emperor, you were still pretty disgusted that he had the audacity to take up a mistress. You didn’t do anything to hide your distaste for this action either, and would announce it to the world if you could. Unfortunately, your family was counting on you to make a good impression.
The second you laid eyes on His Imperial Majesty, bile started to rise. You didn’t hide it either, much to the dismay of your cousin. But, you used your charisma to win over the nobility of the Eastern Empire. They all felt the same way you did, and they told you about it.
Then, you made eye contact with Her Imperial Majesty, and you felt an instant connection. It wasn’t love, but rather two souls who know how to hide their true selves have found each other. So, you decided that the only logical thing to do was to go talk to Navier, and the conversation was really relaxing for the two of you.
Sovieshu was absolutely angry that his wife was conversing with another man, especially a man who had high authority in a different region of the world. It didn’t matter if the two of you weren’t romantically interested in each other, the fact that you had the audacity to converse with his wife while they were going through a rough patch was frustrating for him.
When it was revealed that you were the cat who assisted in delivering letters from Heinrey to his wife, he would have ordered your execution had you been one of his subjects. Unfortunately, because you were the Crowned Prince of the Southern Kingdom, which was an ally to the Empire, you were spared (albeit hesitantly).
Tumblr media
Rashta
Honestly, you couldn’t really blame Rashta for being thrust into the life of a mistress since it was all Sovieshu’s fault for making that decision. That doesn’t mean you liked her though. It was like if someone tried to take Tohru’s place in the palace. The thought alone made your blood boil.
The moment you saw the new mistress, a hairball was rising in your throat. How could she be so happy knowing that she’s only in the palace for the Emperor’s pleasure? It’s not like any nobles actually liked her. Plus, she smelled of filth covered with different perfumes.
Rashta saw how you went straight to the Empress and struck up a conversation between yourself, her, and your cousin, and she was incredibly jealous. You were doing it on purpose too, all under the guise of ‘preparing the concubine for what is going to happen both in the castle and outside of the castle’.
She could see that Sovieshu was getting increasingly angry at you talking to Navier, and she was angry that his attention was off of her. She wanted you out of the Empire, but it was way out of her jurisdiction because not only were you there for the party, you were there for the regulation of trade between the Eastern Empire and Luipt as well. Basically, you were there for political affairs she couldn’t mess with.
When your identity as the cat was revealed, she didn’t know how to feel. It’s not like you were trying to hide it, but she’s just so naive that she didn’t even notice you disappearing for times on end to see a cat roaming around in your absence.
Tumblr media
Navier
You had received a personalized invitation on behalf of Her Imperial Majesty of the Eastern Empire, stating that you were welcome to an extended stay in the palace to act as ambassador to the Southern Kingdom dealing with the trade routes between your kingdom and the Empire as well as Luipt.
However, the minute you saw Navier, you could sense that she was upset. So you went to go talk to her, ditching all proper etiquette that your cousin had talked you through. It was a pleasant surprise for her, and you both got to learn a lot about each other. You heard that Sovieshu hadn’t even asked for permission before bringing Rashta into the palace, and that made you unbelievably angry.
To distract herself from the pain, she asked why an eligible bachelor such as yourself attended the party with your cousin rather than a date, and the conversation turned into you spilling tea about Tohru. Navier wished you the best of luck in your romantic pursuit of the girl. That night, she became an older sister figure to both you and Yuki.
But, when she went back to her bedchambers, she was a bit suspicious upon finding a cat and a rat ‘conversing’ with each other and seemingly understanding one another. She didn’t piece everything together, but when Queen wasn’t allowed to fly in, you used your cat form to bring in letters.
When it was revealed that you were the cat who delivered her the letters, she hugged you. A few tears definitely did slip, but then she scolded you for being so reckless with your life.
Tumblr media
Heinrey
Your Kingdoms were in an alliance with one another, and that’s how you both knew each other. The two of you were Crowned Princes who were acting as representatives of the Kingdoms you hailed from at Navier’s party. But, the two of you didn’t always get along. It wasn’t until Tohru came into your life that you really established a friendship with Heinrey.
Mans was partnering with your cousin to try and get you to hide your obvious disgust at His Imperial Majesty, but you always wore your emotions on your sleeve. Plus, you weren’t doing anything too bad. You just kept shooting death glares at Sovieshu.
Heinrey was definitely jealous when you started a conversation with Navier, but he was glad that it seemed platonic rather than you just trying to woo her. You even introduced the two, and gave him a thumbs up from the side of the ballroom as they danced. You best believe that you were one of the groomsmen at their wedding.
Anyways, during the time where any birds sent to Navier would be shot down as declared by Sovieshu, you wrote to Heinrey and offered your help. You would use your cat form to sneak in and deliver the letters yourself so that open lines of communication between the couple could continue. You can consider yourself a hero. We salute you, soldier 🫡

。:*•. ❁my fruits basket headcannons ❁ .•*:。
*Their family curse might be that their bodies transform into the 12+1 animals of the zodiac, but their family secret is like, a heavy drug addiction
*Shigure shoots up fentanyl (recreationally, for some reason he can't die), claims heroin makes him write better (genuinely can quit it anytime, he just doesn't)
*Ritzu is hung as shit, like, carries a footlong under that long dress of his, tried to pop your clit like a pimple; apologized
*Akito dosed Yuki with benzodiazepamines, he went into rehab by himself and met Jordan Peterson, that was his personal rehab
*Aya has the picture perfect cock, like it's in a dildo ad, goes to the urologist weekly, had a breakdown when it hurt him when he peed (it was just a small cold) and hasn't recovered since, tried to smoke tobacco flavored vapes because he wanted Shigure and Hari to accept him, they told him to kill himself
*Speaking of vapes, Hiro and Kisa vape in their free time. He likes the coke flavored vapes and she likes the grape soda, Kyo steals from them when they sleep and secretly smokes them on the roof, annoyed they never buy the orange flavored one (he hates the flavor but the color matches his hair so it's AWESOME)
*Kyo has a heavy coke addiction, his master is his coke dealer, the training was a tolerance test(he failed). The reason he's so on edge during S1? Withdrawals. The transformation is just his skin getting itchy :(
*Aya has a collection of cock rings, not out of pleasure, he just decorates them, and matches them with his fits.
Religiously takes pictures of them with the fit (like a BeReal situation). Tried making an instagram for it, but got banned. He has a high following on femboy sites. (is a power-top femboy)
*Hatsuharu and Rin do ketamine, she's heavily addicted and he just does it because she does, you know, sharing hobbiea and stuff.
*Kyo doesn't know where the clit is, but neither does Tohru.
She has never cum, thinks she did. Kyo thinks women cumming is a myth.
*Akito takes meth, Shigure said she's "too lame to try it" and got her addicted, he has no fucking remorse, thinks it's funny how she has hourly psychotic breaks lol. Hides the meth sometimes for funsies, and turns his phone off for days at a time (he's her only plug and she can't let anyone else know)
*Momiji has a 9 incher, but it's like...not even finger girth.
People get impressed when they hear the length, but they never ask about the width, so he thinks it's decent.
*Haru's left nut is comedically larger than his right one, makes him walk funny.
*The reason for Hiro's attitude is his absolute clitoris of a dick (they measured it once in his PE locker room and he got bullied for it).
*Kisa takes opioids, but she's still only addicted to vapes (lame ass).
*Momiji's heroic shroom dose made him gain the german accent in the new version, he's not even canonically german, just a brain fart.
*Kyo got his pubes dreaded once, Tohru called him a culture appropriator, the dreadlocks weren't intentional, he's just hairy as fuck.
*Haru never lets his patients get morphie'd up, stocks it up (for himself)
*Kyo watched that one South Park episode where they get high off cat piss, tries it to get a kick (during his tough times of withdrawal), smells like cat piss, placebo-d himself into thinking he's high as balls, Tohru called up an intervention. Instead of a psychiatrist, calls a psychic. Gets scammed out of the all inheritance money her mom left her (like $150).
Kyo kills the psychic with a bat (he just wanted to hit her, the withdrawal carried him away). He thinks the cat-piss is so potent, it makes him violent, he's just an asshole.
*Kyoko intentionally crashed the car on the curb and died because Tohru didn't tell her "be safe", just wanted to heavily guilt trip her for the rest of Tohru's life, succeeded.
*Shigure has an "Asian fetish", he, himself, is Asian.
*Kyo and Shigure have a heavy ass foot fetish, tried biting their partners' feet like cats and dogs go ham on their toe beans, it just hurt.
*If the human form's dick is shaved, the animal's dick is also shaved. Imagine seeing a tiny ass rat with an even tinier, shaved ballsack.
*Speaking of tiny cocks, some of the animals' cocks sizes is equivalent to the animal they are, regardless if they're human or transformed. Rin has a horse cock, is what I'm trying to say. She tries hiding it under those mini ass skirts. It's uncomfortable.
*Kagura does bath salts.
*Hiro huffs elementary-grade glue, does it the wrong way.
*Shigure is the only one who knows everyone does drugs (except Haru and Rin who do it together, and Akito who got Yuki addicted), is the family dealer. Only one who knows how to smoke (aka inhale) anything, when anyone catches him smoking weed/crack/meth/whatever mixture he makes that day, he gaslights them he doesn't know what the hell they're talking about as he blows smoke into their face. (his main argument is "you're high"). His high school girl thing is the fact that in his free time, he also deals drugs to them, and if they can't pay him in money, they pay him in other ways, but he doesn't do it out of pleasure, he's just chaotic as fuck. Anytime he gets the "other form of payment", he calls the girls' parents and snitches on them, (not about the drugs, just the payment, because he wants them to become addicted) and he says they lied about their age (even tho they're wearing full on high school uniforms). His cartel is his way of earning, fuck the writing. His secretary or whatever that bitch is, is his main distributor.
*Kisa's mutism is just bullshit; she doesn't open her mouth because it's always filled with vapor, and she can't let her mom find out.
*Rin neighs instead of moaning, gets super pumped up when they do cowgirl position, "I'm your cowgirl daddy" type of bullshit, turns Haru off in an instant, he can't really say shit, she still provides him with K.
*Hatori, Shigure and that third ponytail woman had LSD mixed with DMT, had a 10 hour trip that felt like 5 years, fully made up the Hatori's ex fiance character, it was actually just a rock.
*Tohru is stone cold sober, she just has an IQ of Theodore the Chipmunk. Thinks this is a daily occurrence.

Just a quick ficlet for kyoru week 2023 cause I wanted to write something.
8/22 home movies @kyoruweekofficial
It’s more of a kyoru family story. Idk the idea is cute to me lol
“Hey mom, watcha doin’?” The six-year-old questions.
The woman stops wiping the shelf. “Oh, just tidying up.”
“What’s those?” The child points to a set of DVD jackets. “Movies?”
“Sort of, they’re home movies. You know, like when we record videos on our camera? These are of events we like to keep.”
“Can we watch one?”
“Sure. Why don’t you pick?” The child picks a random disc and hands it to their mom. “Oh, this is of my graduation,” the woman reminisces as she pops it into the Blue-Ray player.
They curl up on the couch as the video rolls with mom narrating for the little girl. The video was taken when she graduated from high school and her parents held a big party at the Sohma compound. Many were there, like uncle Mutsuki and his parents uncle Yuki and aunt Machi, uncle Hatsu and aunt Rin with daughters Sora and Riku, even uncle Shiki came considering he wasn’t fond of parties. Of course, aunty Akito and uncle Shigure had to attend as the heads of the clan, but it was nice to see them since they rarely left the compound anymore. She names off the relatives as they appear on camera, often pausing to answer questions because the little girl has never met many of the older generations that have passed on.
“Who’s that next to you and papa Hajime,” the child points at the elderly couple who are standing next to her grandfather.
“That’s grandpa’s parents. They’re your great-grandparents, grandma Tohru and grandpa Kyo.”
“Oh, they look so old, but so cute still holding hands.”
The woman chuckles, “well, they are in their 80s.” She sighs, “I wish you could’ve met them. You look a little like grandma Tohru when she was a young girl.” A bit of moisture clouds her vision as she reminisces. “Lets’ see, grandma passed away about 8 years after this, and your grandpa followed a year later. My parents believed with his heart gone, grandpa didn’t have the will to keep living.”
“That’s impossible,” the child looks up at her mom with concern, “how can a heart just disappear from,” she points to her chest.
“No, not like that.” The woman laughs. “They’re talking about your great-grandmother. Grandma Tohru was his heart. Great-grandpa loved her more than anything else in this world because she saved him from the Sohma monster.”
The child turns to look at her mom again, this time with an indignant glare. “Mom,” she crosses her arms. “A monster, seriously? Monster’s aren’t real so that makes no sense.”
Before responding, the woman pauses the video and pulls her daughter onto her lap. “Have I ever told you the story of the zodiac?” The child shakes her head no. “Do you want to hear it?”
“Yes!” The little girl bounces in excitement.
The mom moves her back to the couch, gets up and goes to another room. She comes back in a couple minutes holding an old wooden box and sits back down next to her daughter. She then opens the lid to show the child the little animal figurines inside, worn with age, but still discernible for what they represent. But there was one odd piece in the box.
“Mom, why’s there a wooden rice ball with a bunch of animals?”
“I’m glad you asked,” the mom talks as she pulls out the figurines of the rice ball and an orange cat, placing it in the little girls cupped hands. “These represent your grandma Tohru,” she points to the rice ball, “and grandpa Kyo,” she points to the cat. “The rest of the animals make up the zodiac.”
The child gives her a mom a confused look which gains a chuckle from her mother.
“Don’t worry, it’ll be explained in the story.” The woman takes the figurines from her daughter, puts them back in the box, and puts the box aside. “Now where should I begin?” She thinks for a moment. “A very long time ago, there was a god…”

Akito would fit in with Tohru’s gal pals pre-finale.
I mean, Uotani would kind get having a chip on one’s shoulder and lashing out as a former Sukeban. Especially as it pertains to parents. Hanajima’s Waves would also let her know that Akito’s on the level or at least making an effort. Though them not knowing of the Zodiac Curse would only leave them with a vague idea of her emotional abuse towards others.
Now I wish there was an extra chapter/episode of Akito turning to them and Tohru on how to girl with Shigure. A whole girl’s night out with hijinks (singing karaoke horribly, dressing up badly due to Akito’s wardrobe being picked for her) at first before getting to the heart of it where the Sohma family head. wishes that this was what she had before.
Heck, it makes one wonder if Kyoko could’ve gotten through to her. If she tried to follow Yuki out of the estate and bumped into a weird lady with orange hair. Maybe the pain to follow would’ve been reduced if not curbed.

my favorite queer relationships in media
this was another patreon-exclusive post that i'm posting here now because i'm not on patreon anymore. this one was a belated pride month post from july of 2022 where i listed my favorite queer relationships in media. i would probably list some of these in a different order today, but i'm just gonna share the post in its original form. enjoy!
what up, gay nerds!
today i’ll be talking about my favorite queer relationships in media. we’re talking couples, we’re talking throuples, we’re talking polycules, and we’re also talking non-romantic queer chosen family. this is obviously a topic that’s very near and dear to my heart, so i’m super excited to talk about it!
also, because of the relative dearth of queer relationships in mainstream media, i’m also going to talk about characters i ship. this will be in a separate section, though, so let’s start with the main event.
my favorite canon queer relationships
14. piper/alex (orange is the new black)
i’ve only seen the first few seasons, but yeah, at the time having actual gay relationships on a tv show i was watching was such a blessed relief.
there’s a line early in i think season 2? where piper and alex are being all domestic together and piper says, “this is so nice, and so gay!” and it more or less sums how i felt about the whole thing.
13. david/keith (six feet under)
six feet under is a very slice of life show, and the romantic relationships it depicts are accordingly presented with an aching realism. david and keith have their issues but they deal with them responsibly, engaging in couples counseling and doing their best to get better.
it’s a very healthy portrayal and it doesn’t seem like the show is going for brownie points or anything, they’re both just valued characters whose stories the show wanted to tell.
12. lady tohru/kobayashi (miss kobayashi’s dragon maid)
this would be higher, but tohru and kobayashi have never really been the main draw for me? i’m hella into the family vibes between the two of them and their adopted child kanna. kanna is just a gloriously adorable child and she’s so sweet and her family is so good and argh. feelings!
the show (and presumably the manga it’s based on) is so well-written, though. they always put kobayashi in a position to just be the sweetest butch mom and it’s so freaking good.
11. violet/allie (her story)
this was rather by the numbers, i get it, but seeing a trans girl in a healthy lesbian relationship helping escape from her abusive boyfriend was super life-affirming to me for… reasons.
actually, just seeing another trans person on screen was so what i needed at that exact moment in time, it actually helped light a fire under me to get started on hrt.
10. ivanova/talia (babylon 5)
literally the only thing holding this back from being higher on the list is that thanks to 90s homophobia it had to be largely implied, and that it ended tragically.
in her last appearance on the show, talia slept with ivanova, and in a later episode when everyone on the crew has to tell a deep, personal secret ivanova says that she loved talia. so it’s more than you might expect given the limits it had to work within. and ivanova is my favorite character on the whole show and always has been, so yeah, this meant a lot to me.
9. nomi/amanita (sense8)
the joy of seeing actual transgender people on screen in a mainstream streaming series directed by two trans people is matched only by the joy of that trans character getting absolutely railed by the best/prettiest doctor who companion with a strap-on in her first scene. fuck yeah.
and then their whole first arc is about nomi’s bodily autonomy being threatened and amanita coming to her rescue and she rescues her in the most emotionally satisfying scene ever and oh my gosh you guys it’s so good.
8. dev/lee (out of position) & volle/xiller (argaea)
at my first furry convention i discovered that there was a thriving small industry publishing specifically furry books. we’re not talking zines here (though those are also awesome in their own right), we’re talking novels, anthologies, short story collections, etc.
at the time i was still hella into sports, so i was immediately drawn to one that had a buff tiger in a football uniform hoisting a fox femboy onto his shoulder with one arm. ironically at the time i was a tiger (though certainly not the dumb jock musclegod dev is), and today i’m a fox femboy? funny how things work out.
anyway, turns out the author of that book is one of the most prolific (and definitely the most popular) furry writers, and i actually liked his argaea series even better than the football nerd one. argaea is set in a fanciful renaissance-ish world and full of palace intrigue and mystery and kidnappings and whatnot. very fun stuff there.
7. baz/simon (simon snow)
there’s been a harry potter-shaped hole in my heart for years now, so when i heard about this series i was immediately in.
the way magic works in this certainly doesn’t really square with how i think about it, but it’s definitely a creative approach. and i super approve of how these books handle the enemies-to-lovers romance of the two dumb gay boys, as well as how it depicts one of them having crippling depression and how they navigate the relationship difficulties this often results in. extremely good stuff here.
(also i’m almost done with the last book and i’m pretty sure there’s a couple of useless lesbians happening!!! exciting!!! there’s also one het couple in the last book if you’re into that kinda thing.)
6. galo/lio (promare)
what if we were a dumbass himbo and a powerful femboy and did an enemies to lovers thing to become an incredible anime power couple and just kicked all of the ass. all of it. what if that?
5. harley quinn/poison ivy (dc comics)
honestly the only reason this isn’t higher on the list is because i’ve seen very little of their actually in a relationship stuff, and that’s a me problem that i really need to fix asap. but i’ve shipped them forever, basically ever since that animated series episode. you know the one. so when i heard they were canon i squeed so loudly.
4. luz/amity (the owl house)
the owl house feels like it was made specifically for me. this show also saw the harry potter-shaped hole in my life and came along and was like “okay but what if we made something drastically better and more imaginative instead and also basically everyone was gay?” and uh, yeah! obviously!!
so obviously it’s being canceled because some dumbass homophobic executive had a problem with it and omfg disney is the fucking worst. can they please just stop.
but yeah i’m so glad kids get to grow up with stuff like this and she-ra and etc, but also i’m so glad i get to watch it too okay? witchy gay bullshit is entirely my jam.
but yeah amity and luz are the sweetest useless lesbians and i love how flustered they get around each other despite having no problem having badass magic fights and just ugh they’re so good i love them so much.
i also want to give a shout-out to lesbian wine aunt eda and her ex-enbyfriend/hopefully-soon-to-be-ex-ex-enbyfriend raine, i’m really rooting for them!!!
3. adora/catra (she-ra)
no big deal just the main hero and main villain of a science fantasy swashbuckling magical girls show who swordfight like literally all the time and are super blatantly gay for each other the whole time and have emotional turmoil over each other and constantly try to assert their dominance over each other.
also there’s a prom scene in the first season where the villain shows up in a messy tux and dances with the hero girl while verbally needling her and dips her really low and it’s so gay and i’m so jealous because i want a villain like that to be all homoerotic with.
and then in the last season of the show catra finally switches sides and apologizes to adora and then adora comes and rescues her and she has this badass transformation scene and it’s one of my favorite scenes in television history and ugh i am so gay and in the last episode they kiss and confess their feelings for each other and fuck i love these two and this show.
there’s also another canon lesbian relationship between netossa and spinnerella, and the series creator said rogelio, kyle, and lonnie are a polycule! and they’re all such good boys and one of them is a really hot lizard boy and aaaaaaa.
2. basically every relationship (dragon moms)
so uh yeah one of my partners is an author and basically all of her characters are queer (with a few exceptions) and a lot of them are trans or nonbinary and i love her writing so much, if you have similar tastes to me you’ll probably like it too. everything is just very emotionally satisfying and character-driven and just… she’s the best, guys. i’d be a fan of her writing even if i weren’t dating her.
anyway her most popular and probably best work is dragon moms which she serialized online but also published as an ebook with extra content and it’s so good and so gay and yeah, she also has a lot of other short stories and stuff on her website and a few other ebooks available and i unreservedly recommend anything she’s written she’s so good.
1. star trek: discovery’s queer chosen family
i’ve gushed about them a bunch in my discovery reviews so there really shouldn’t be any surprise here, but yeah. when lieutenant stamets and dr. culber were shown as a couple in season 1 of discovery it belatedly fulfilled an almost 31-year-old promise by gene rodenberry. in season 3 of the show, they also introduced gray (a trans guy) and adira (an enby) and made them gay for each other on top of that, and i love them so much, i would die for them. and on top of that they all came together as a surrogate family with stamets and culber just being amazing surrogate space dads and jet reno popping in every now and then as their weird butch lesbian aunt and i am so, so glad i lived long enough to see star trek get this gay, guys!!
while i’m talking about star trek i do want to mention that i didn’t forget about seven and rafi, and i do love them, but i don’t love that them getting together basically happened off screen? like they get plenty of screentime in season 2 but that was in full figuring their shit out mode and idk i just don’t like that all we got for them becoming a couple was them holding hands at the end of season 1 like it feels like you skipped the whole romantic part of their relationship and that kinda sucks?
queer relationships i ship
(cw: some of these characters will have canon age gaps and/or are minors in some canons, just assume there's an element of au-ification here. cool? cool.)
14. finn/poe (star wars)
look i don’t care about star wars anymore but wow how could you not make these guys gay come on.
13. bella/alice (twilight)
again i don’t really care but especially in the movies alice is literally the only person that seems right for bella like seriously their relationship is so much better than her relationship with either of the two boys.
12. kota ibushi/kenny omega (professional wrestling)
to be super clear this is very much about their characters, not them as a people, i don’t ship real people that’s creepy.
their characters have this amazing wrestling love story and i just want it to be even more explicitly gay than it already is, but also it’s already kinda explicitly gay??? and that’s amazing.
11. femshep/jack (mass effect 2) & pc/kaliyo (star wars: the old republic)
this one is moreso about two times bioware queerbaited me, like i met both of these characters while playing female characters and was immediately like “wow okay they are totally lesbian doms like you can tell me they’re bi and i’ll believe you” but i was just so sure they had to be romanceable for my female characters and then i found out they weren’t? and in both cases i was just like, what the fuck guys, this is cultural appropriation.
10. riker/worf (star trek: the next generation)
this started out as a joke but i’m kind of firmly committed to it at this point. there is at least as much reason to think that riker and worf are hooking up on the regular as there is that riker and deanna are, and riker and deanna got married later sooooo…
9. georgiou/burnham (star trek: discovery)
i mean, burnham has more feelings about georgiou than she does about any of her actual on-screen romantic partners, whether it’s for her gentle mommy domme prime universe georgiou or her badass mean domme mirror universe georgiou.
8. dick grayson/jason todd (dc universe)
i literally wrote fanfiction about these two when i read nightwing: year one and jason kept bratting the fuck out of dick to the point where dick literally tied him up.
jason is a bratty power bottom and dick is a service top. i will not be accepting questions or feedback at this time.
7. garak/bashir (star trek: deep space nine)
i don’t even give a shit about bashir when he isn’t interacting with garak. he might as well be a non-character.
i fucking love garak he is such an amazing bratty dom. i love watching him play with his food (his food being bashir).
6. legolas/gimli/aragorn (lord of the rings)
it’s that thing where you take a very homosocial book and add expanded roles for some of its female characters to make it less homosocial but you change exactly nothing about how emotionally intimate the homosocial relationships are and y’know whoops they’re clearly gay now, we decided.
5. bruce/clark (dc universe)
how is this not canon? there is so much blatant textual support for it, holy shit, look at literally any interaction they’ve ever had with each other.
4. neo/trin (the matrix)
yeah they’re on-screen canon, i just mean i headcanon both of them as enbies. so like. they aren’t actually queer in their portrayal onscreen (but like, come on, this is the gayest “straight” couple ever), but they are in my headcanon? if that makes sense.
3. tim drake/jon kent (dc universe)
yeah, they both have boyfriends who aren’t each other, but tell me you didn’t immediately think about these two cute superhero boys kissing the second you heard they were both openly bi. i don’t believe you.
2. flick/cj (animal crossing)
i actually questioned whether to put this as a canon relationship considering that the game frequently seems to stop just short of saying it and i’m reasonably certain that the creative team considers them an item. but i’ll leave it under this section because they don’t just come right out and say it.
1. sonic/tails/knuckles/shadow
i mean, this is a pretty obvious one right? i mean okay polycule shipping is pretty rare, but like, sontails is obviously correct and sonshad is obviously correct and sonknux is obviously correct and knuxtails is obviously correct and shadtails is obviously correct and i’ll grant you there isn’t as much on-screen evidence for knuxshads but still just put it all together and there you go. like i said. obvious.
please don’t ship sonamy it’s so creepy she’s literally a stalker it’s not okay. i mean do what you want but i’m judging you. my favorite interpretation of amy’s feelings btw is a comic i saw on twitter once where amy is coming out as a lesbian and she apologizes to sonic for being all weird and overcompensating by being over the top into him and he’s super understanding because he’s gay and he gets it and idk it just feels so real and good to me.
anyway, yeah! happy belated pride! i love gays and being gay.

All three Kyoru kids have orange hair (Hajimes atleast is more of brownish-orange) but they're all little carrot-tops.
Kyo is disappointed because "ugh they're gonna get bullied like I did" and he also not so secretly wanted them to look like Tohru because shes precious and gorgeous.
Tohru, however, is elated. "Your hair is so pretty, Kyo-kun!"
She just thinks its the best thing ever to have her little orange family running around and theres a small part of her that's glad because there will be absolutely no doubt who the father is (not like there was with her as a child).

💐Hanakotoba in EDEN ~Fruits Basket 2nd Season ED 2 💐
~Part 2~
Tumblr media
⚠️NOTE: THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS FOR THE LAST SEASON OF THE ANIME!⚠️
Ritsu Sohma
薄 | Susuki | Pampas Grass
Tumblr media
Pampas grass is a symbol of Autumn—the harvest season and is used as a symbolic replacement for rice in the offerings at the Harvest Moon Festival. This autumn symbolism correlates with Ritsu's zodiac month.
Momiji Sohma
菊 | Giku | Chrysanthemum
Tumblr media
Red and Orange chrysanthemums represent cheerfulness, friendliness happiness all of which correlate with Momoji's upbeat and kind personality. However in some cultures yellow chrysanthemums can symbolize rejected love—which correlates with Momoji being rejected by his mother and thus being forced to live separately from his family. This steep juxtaposition caused by the double meaning could be a nudge to hope Momoji hides his loneliness and longing from others behind a cheerful exterior.
Shigure Sohma
楓 | Kaede |Japanese Maple Tree
Tumblr media
Japanese maple tress have been associated with grace and serenity. These attributes compliment Shigure's lax personality. The tree is said to posses a sense of elegance and taste a nod to Shigure's sense of style and career. Maple trees can represent persistence and patience—two inherent qualities of Shigures shown as he patiently waits for the curse to be broken and his schemes to fall in place.
Kagura Sohma
柳 | Yanagi | Willow tree
Tumblr media
Willow trees represent sadness and freedom. Neither of which really suit Kagura. They look cool though...
Edit: In light of me finally finsihing and then rewatching the series recently I realized that in a way the willow tree's meaning does suit Kagura. Spoilers ahead: By the end of the series she has "freed" herself of her one-sided love for Kyo which was founded on pity and gave her a sense of purpose and drive in life. Now having been freed of that sense of purpose she is left with a sense of emptiness. While she is undoubtably happy for Kyo—she herself is left alone and sad. However, free of the curse she now has the opportunity to love whomever she chooses and do whatever she wants with her life—since she is no longer bound to anyone and is no longer bound by anything.
Yuki Sohma
桐 | Kiri |Paulownia
Tumblr media
Paulownia trees were traditionally planted when Japanese couples have a daughter and as such have come to represent purity and femininity—a possible nod to Yuki's feminine appearance. Its meaning of purity fits in how others in the show view him. At school he is seen as a "prince" as he is seemingly untouchable, perfect and kind. However in reality he is akward, lonely and introspective. In his hands Yuki holds a white rose—a symbol of purity—and faces towards the right juxtaposing him against Akiot in the next panel who is facing left holding out a red camelia with a blood-stained hand.
Akito Sohma
赤椿 | Aka Tsubaki | Red Camelia
Tumblr media
Red camelias are said to symbolize being in love, perishing with grace, devotion, deep desire and nobility—the latter of which a reference to Akito's status as god of the current zodiac generation. Akito believes that she was born to be loved and that the members of the zodiac should be wholly devoted to her. This can also represent her deep desire to be loved considering the lack of parental love received during her childhood.
During a flashback scene shown in season three Shigure gives Akito a red camelia—a symbol of his love, desire and devotion. He later gifts her a kanzashi and kimono patterned with the same flower. The dark and intense colour palette as well as Akito's blood stained hands in this panel contrast greatly with the previous panel of Yuki which has a softer colour palette.
Tohru Honda
向日葵 | Himawari | Sunflower
Tumblr media
Sunflowers represent cheerfulness, optimism, passionate love and radiance—all of which describe Tohru's personality perfectly. Sunflower heads turn to face the sun directly and all the flowers pictured in the panel are facing towards Tohru who is bathed in light. This protrays how Tohru's presence is like the sun for the zodiac members—bringing light, positivity and hope from them despite their tough circumstances. Tohru reaches out her hand and smiles. It can be theorizing that this panel links to the forst panel of Kyo therefore surmising that the light Kyo is reaching for is Tohru and likewise Tohru is extending her hand towards Kyo. In other words Tohru's love is the light in Kyo's life freeing him from his dark circumstances. Her acceptance of him saves him from the dark fate suffered by previous cat zodiac hosts.

can I get a part two on the dad!Kyo headcanons?
sure thing!
- when they were smol, kyo would get free back massages by letting his children walk all over his back
- is a swaddling LEGEND. no sohma father does it like him
- there was no way in hell that kyo was gonna make a 2-hour trip to the nearest ikea store in nagoya ("kyo-kun, you do know we can just buy it off of amazon, right?" "yeah, but what if it came in and it wasn't what we expected? maybe it's faulty. maybe it's too small. maybe it's uglier than what we saw in the pictures" "there's a return policy for that" "please just back me up on this, tohru"), so he joined a woodworking class and diy-ed his and tohru's way into having a baby crib, and later, a high chair. they used that same crib and high chair for all of their three kids, and they were still in great shape when kyo and tohru gave them away to hiro and kisa
- and speaking of woodworking, he eventually takes it up as a hobby. he's made, among other things: a spice rack for tohru, a step stool, a toy chest, a swing, and an easel for hajime
- he loves getting glomped by his kids when he gets home from work. that's the best part of his day
- 70% of his phone storage is just pictures of tohru and his kids. he's the kind of parent who has multiple pictures of his kid(s) doing 1 (one) random cute shit because he'd snap it from every angle
- "who can go hug mommy the fastest???" *two orange-haired boys and one smol toddler charge straight for tohru*
- one of his and tohru's biggest parenting challenges is toilet training, especially their second son, who for the longest time wouldn't poop properly on the toilet and instead would poop his pants while squatting in a corner. whenever this happened, kyo didn't know if he should laugh or be frustrated at his son's unusual habit
- his children's biggest fan (rivaled only by tohru). nobody hypes them up like Papa Kyo....sometimes much to their embarrassment
- was horrified to learn from mutsuki that hatsuharu was the one teaching 16-year-old hajime how to drive ("hajime are you alright??? you're not in the ER, are you??? haru didn't crash the car into a utility pole???" "dad, i'm fine, please don't freak out. uncle haru's a great teacher" "'great teacher' my ass. riku drove the car into a ditch near the main estate THREE TIMES last year and guess who taught him how to drive???" "well that's just part of the process" "that does not console me. at all")
- cried tears of joy on the day of his second son's first karate tournament. kyo didn't care if he won or lost - that's his boy showing up and showing off right there
- he hates it when people play with his kids' hair, and always tells them to (kindly) back off when he feels that they're about to do so
- when she was little, his daughter loved playing doctor with the family and her toys, so he fashioned her a little "clinic" out of cardboard boxes
- his second son got him into scented candles. for his 45th birthday, his son gave him an artisanal candle in his favourite scent (it's yuzu. because it smells like tohru's shampoo)

Hi there uh sorry if I’m bothering I know you probably have a lot of request but can you possibly do something like if Isuzu from Fruits Basket had a sister dating Kyo or Yuki? Sorry if I’m bothering or if that’s to detailed wisiemed
Kyo with Isuzu’s younger sibling
Don't worry You aren't bothering me at all! I'm glad to do theses!
I will forever love and die for this man
Tumblr media
Well shit-
I imagine since you are Isuzu’s younger sibling you are more on the patient side, very skilled at hiding you feel so when you met Kyo it was no different.
As Isuzu’s younger sibling I can only imagine she is the type “ I hate everything in the world except you” she deeply cares about you not only because you are her family but because you never abandoned her and you never turned away from her. JUST LOVE HER🥺
You had always been at Isuzu’s side because in a way you and her only have each other though unlike your sister you hide your pain and that's what Kyo notices
Because believe it or not you are going through your own stuff. Becuase same✋
Kyo notices that you do everything in your power to help your sister but when it comes to you it's always an I’m fine or It’s nothing.
Not gonna lie Kyo didn't like you at first, he was annoyed that you choose to helo everyone else except yourself, like what kinda life is that? DId not asked to be called out like that😒
I think you both would have met outside of school at your after-school job or something like that.
At first, it was really awkward but then it started to get better. You would listen to Kyo something that he wasn't use to, you'd let him ramble on putting your own input about certain topis ( Martial Arts mostly) and he would do the same which lead you both to talk for hours of the day.
At first, it wasn't on purpose really! Sure you ain't slick Kyo😌, Tohru and her friends wanted a cool place to eat and he just remembered you.
But then these accidents turned into once a week then twice a week to the point that you expect to see Kyo at work at least once every day.
And what once was a friendship turned into more
It first started small with him making sure you were eating and healthy then it turned to him bringing you gifts that reminded him of you.
“ Kyo, welcome back!” A soft smile graced your face as soon as you saw the orange hair you were so familiar with.
“Here.” Your eyes widened in surprised as Kyo held out his hand his face a few shades redder than usual. In his hand was F/C ( favorite color ) bracelet. You looked back at Kyo confused about what to do. Was it for you? No, you were not worth Kyo’s time you-
“Take it. It's for you, you said you liked F/C right?”
“What?” It seemed like your eyes couldn't widen any further but they did. You remembered you told him your favorite color was F/C but you didn't think he remembered. Your heart started to race in your chest as you stared back at Kyo as he did to you. Why did he give this to you? Someone else could've probably used it better than you can. So why-
“D-Don’t get the wrong Idea okay! I saw this at a store and I remembered you said you lost your other bracelet so I got this. It nothing okay!” His face was now redder than tomatoes, he shoved the bracelet to your chest stomping out of the café, if was possible smoke would be coming out of his head. You looked down at the bracelet a big smile on your face.
                                           Yeah, you like him.
But didn't take it the wrong way it does take time before you guys even start to date because Kyo wants to be a little bitch and deny his feelings-😃 so yeah
👏THANK GOD FOR TORHU👏
So when Isuzu finds out your dating, she livid, expected manger rage and trying to slip you and Kyo apart.
She thinks that by dating Kyo that you'll leave her like both of your parents did. JUST LOVE HER🥺
You and her need to communicate and talk but after that, it should be fine.
I am not even going to get on Akihito because NO- IVE BEEN READING TOO MUCH AGNST I DONT TRUST MYSELF
Like Isuzu would have a love hate relationship like they would right over you constantly. “No they are coming with me!” “In your dreams! There coming with me!” “I’m there sister!” “I am there boyfriend!” “Hey come one guys why don't we all go together?” “NO” “NO”

After lurking for a while, I’ve decided to try out writing. We’ll see how this goes...
Something New, Something Ancient
Kyo Sohma x demigod!reader
Well, this seems to be everything. Honestly, you weren’t sure. It was hard to tell where things are when they’re all packed up into uniform cardboard boxes and stacked neatly in front of the stairwell of your new home.
Not that there was much. You had a ridiculously small number of boxes compared to your older brother. Was that your brother being extreme, or a fault of your own? It doesn’t matter; it meant less to unpack. Best to get started, then. After pulling up your hair and rolling up your sleeve, you got to work moving your things into your new room. It didn’t take too long, and soon you were mostly unpacked.
You checked the clock. It was almost four in the afternoon. Joshua, your half-brother, wasn’t supposed to arrive for another three hours. Giving a long look at his stack of boxes, you had an internal debate. Should you be a nice sibling, or take a nap? Sighing, you decide that you would be nice. It was a new start, after all. May as well make the best of it. As you lift the first box, you decide that moving could be a good thing. Initially you had disliked the idea of moving half a world away from your friends, your camp, and your family. But after seeing the beautiful scenery and sights upon arriving, you couldn’t help but fall in love with Japan.
You were the best candidate for the job, and it made the most sense for you to go. Your dad had been from Japan and had taught you the language. Being a daughter of Aphrodite and blessed with the ability to charmspeak, you would be the best representative for the Greek demigods.
If there was anything to represent to. After discovering that Greek, Roman, Norse, and Egyptian mythologies were all alive and kicking, Camp Half-Blood had wondered what other ancient mythologies were real. So, you had been sent to check out Japan for any potential friends. Unfortunately, you didn’t know too much about the religions in Japan. After you dad taught you most of the language, he found a new wife and a new family for himself. A normal family. He didn’t have enough time to teach you Japanese culture anymore. After running away twice, you made your way to Camp Half-Blood where you also made a new family. People you trusted and made you happy.
Now here you are, alone in a new house in a new country. Joshua had been kind enough to go with you. He said he didn’t mind going, after all, you were only 16 and needed supervision, but you considered him an angel for sacrificing so much.
The rest of the afternoon passed fairly uneventfully. You and Joshua went out to eat to celebrate the first night in Japan, then went to bed early. Unfortunately, you had school the next day.
***
The next morning was rough. The feeling of jet lag was still very present and ached in your mind and body. Downing two cups of coffee seemed to wake you up enough to make it to school on time, something that you were rather proud of. Of course, being a demigod came with the misfortune of poor school records. Despite trying hard, you had moved school systems twice for “disruptive behavior,“ a staple demigod trait. Some things just couldn’t be helped. You were still determined to make it through the end of high school in the same school, though. You chose to sign up for the co-ed high school because the alternative was an all-girls academy. The thought made you shudder.
Most of your first day was the usual new-student routine. Getting lost, finding your way, introducing yourself to strangers, and forgetting everyone’s name right after they introduced themselves. Most of it was a blur, up until the last class of the day.
The school required every student to take a foreign language. You had decided to take English. That way, at least one of your classes would be a breeze. It was your last class, which meant it would be a perfect end-of-the-day nap period.
Settling down in a set near the back of the class, you were approached by classmate. She had long brown hair with a yellow ribbon on each side of her head. A very cute girl, if anyone asked your opinion.
You recognized her face and remembered that she introduced herself to you during your home ec class. Her name? It didn’t come to mind after racking your brain. You had forgotten it already.
”(y/n)! It’s nice to see you again! I’m glad we share another class together!”
Forgotten-name girl spoke very politely, you observed. It was cute, but you really hoped not everyone here did it. That would drive you insane.
”Oh, it’s nice to see you again too! It’ll be nice to know I have a good friend during the last class of the day!”
May as well reciprocate her politeness. And perhaps you were laying it on a bit thick, but you were desperate to be on good terms with at least one other person. It would make the whole new-girl experience bearable, and besides, you had a good feeling about this girl.
Your comment seemed to make her happy, at any rate. Her smile, already big, got bigger, and a slight blush appeared on her cheek. A very cute girl indeed.
Before she could respond, a guy you recognized from a few of your earlier classes spoke up.
”C’mon Tohru. You don’t want the teacher catching you out of your desk for talking again.”
He had a slightly annoyed expression, making you wonder if you had done something to offend him. No, you decided, it wasn’t anything on your end. He was just looking out for Tohru, it seemed. You prided yourself on your ability to read other people. It was a trait most children of Aphrodite had, but you were nonetheless proud.
However, it wasn‘t this interaction that piqued your interest. No, you had experienced similar ones all day. It was the feeling you got from the boy. He seemed... strange. Different from a regular mortal. Not quite a monster, but still. Your demigod senses were telling you something was up with that boy.
After that, you observed him closer. Thankfully you sat behind him so he wouldn’t notice your staring. He had bright orange hair, an uncommon color in Japan. His eyes, at first glance, also seemed orange. Surely it was a trick of the light, but it was hard to tell.
Before you got ahead of yourself, you stopped to check if it really was your demigod senses. One time you mistook your feelings for a guy as your demigod senses telling you he was a monster, and that didn’t end up well. It was really embarrassing and you didn’t want to make the same mistake. No, it was definitely your demigod senses. He was attractive, you’d give him that, but this was something more. You needed to look into it. That would be a difficult task, you could tell. He seemed to be stand-offish and disliked people. He seems to friends with Tohru, maybe that would be your way to observe him closer.
Guess you had your work cut out for you.

Get in loser, we’re going shopping!
Summary: Before his second date with Tohru, Uotani and Hanajima stage a fashion intervention
Rating: T
Also on AO3 and FF.net.
Of all the people he'd expected to run into outside Shishou's dojo, it definitely wasn't Wave Girl and the yankee.
"Yo!" Uotani saluted, Hanajima silent beside her.
He furrowed his brow. "Tohru's not here."
"Yeah, we know."
"So why are you here?"
"For you."
....That never meant anything good. And he did not like the gleam in their eye.
Were they finally going to kill him…?
He made to bolt but felt two sets of arms loop through his own, halting him in place.
"O-oi! Let go!" He squirmed.
"Nah, you're coming with us."
"Coming with you where?" His voice cracked in annoyance. "And why can't you just ask like a normal person?"
"We knew you'd say no," Hanajima finally spoke, voice as monotone as ever. "And that would simply not be an acceptable answer."
Uotani's grip tightened as she started practically dragging him away. "Come on, Carrots, this'll be over quicker the less you struggle."
He twitched in irritation. He'd wanted to spend time with Tohru before Yuki got home.
"I'm sure Tohru-kun can spare you for a few hours. You do live together after all, do you not?"
Was this girl actually a mind reader? He never could tell.
He slumped in defeat. He wasn't gonna win this, was he? And it's not like he could fight a girl, let alone two of them. He wasn’t a scumbag.
"Can you atleast tell me where we're going?"
"You'll find out when we get there."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"A department store," he said flatly.
"Yep!" Uotani popped the p. "We're taking you shopping, Kyon!"
"For what?"
"You and Tohru-kun have a date tomorrow, do you not?" Hanajima cocked her head.
"Yeah, why?" And then he recoiled. "Don't tell me you two are planning on coming again."
"Sorry to disappoint, but you’re on your own this time," Uotani said sarcastically. "There's only so much of the goo-goo eyes I can take."
He blushed. "Don't say it like that." But then he furrowed his brow. "And what does that have to do with why we're at a department store?"
"My, he really is quite dense, isn't he?" Hanajima said.
He twitched in annoyance which only increased as Uotani gave him a scornful look. "Seriously, Carrots? You need clothes to wear on a date."
"I have clothes at home."
"Those don't count!"
"Why don't they?"
“Because after what you wore to the zoo, we don’t trust your decisions.”
He bristled. “What was wrong with what I was wearing?! We were outside and it was comfortable!"
“You looked like you just rolled out of bed. No effort at all. You’re lucky Tohru’s nice.”
“Whatever,” he scoffed, "She doesn't care what I wear.”
"You think so?" Hanajima asked him skeptically, giving him an unreadable look.
Tohru didn’t care...did she? She had worn a dress but she was always wearing stuff like that. Should he have put more effort in? Did she actually hate how he looked? Did she put her two friends up to this because she didn’t wanna tell him herself?
"Well," Uotani clapped his shoulder, interrupting his spiral, "Let's get started. I have a shift in 2 hours."
"Great," he said unenthusiastically, as the two women steered him towards the men's aisle.
He sat on the nearby bench and listened as they rustled through hangers. This brought back memories. Last time he'd come to a clothes store was when they were buying that swimsuit for Tohru. His face heated a bit at the memory. She really had been cute in it. Just wish I’d gotten to tell her that..
"Kyon, what size are you?" Uotani called, breaking him out of his daydream.
"I dunno. Large, maybe?"
A pause. "How do you not know your own size?"
"I don't buy clothes. Look, just take a guess and pick something. I don't care."
She stood in front of him, menacing. "What kind of attitude is that when we're kindly taking the time out of our day to help you?!"
"I never asked you to!" He yelled back, outraged.
"Don't tell me you're one of those guys who thinks they’re too good to go clothes shopping!”
"How awful," Hanajima said unhelpfully.
"It's got nothing to do with that!" Up until a couple months ago, he never expected to need any. "I just don't really buy things," he settled on saying instead. "It's a pain."
"Isn’t your family like super rich though?"
He tsked. "That's got nothing to do with me.."
"How intriguing." Hanajima put a finger to her chin. "The Sohma family remains a mystery."
They were both silent for a minute before Uotani punched her fist. "Well, it's decided then!"
"What's decided?" He asked warily, even though he knew he was gonna regret it.
"This shopping trip is on us!" And he was right.
"I'm not some charity case," he said scornfully, "and you should be saving your money for yourself."
"We're not doing this out of pity, you idiot, we're doing it because we're your friends."
He blinked. That was the first time they'd referred to him as a friend and he was...kinda touched.
"Well, thanks, but no thanks. Like I said, I have clothes at home and Tohru doesn't really worry about things like that."
"Perhaps not," Hanajima agreed, "but don't you think she would be happy knowing you wanted to look nice for her? It's only the bare minimum of what she deserves."
……………...
Goddammit.
Uotani slapped his back and he jumped. "Yeah, don't think of it as buying yourself stuff. Think of it as a gift for Tohru."
He did wanna look good for her. He wanted to give her everything he could. She deserved the world.
"Fine, you win."
Uotani grinned. "Oh this is gonna be fun!" And then she started dragging him away.
He released his arm from her grip. "Look, if we're gonna do this, then I get the final say-so. It would be stupid for you to spend money on something I hate."
Uotani blinked. "Huh. That's weirdly thoughtful of you."
“What do you mean 'weirdly'?”
"Alright, let's narrow down colors.” She completely changed the subject.
“Oi, don’t ignore me.”
“What's your favorite color?"
“I said don’t-” His annoyance was replaced with confusion. His favorite color? He’d never really thought about it… “Um...Orange…?"
She made an X with her hand. "Denied."
"Why?"
"Your hair is orange. It would clash."
He furrowed his brow. "But if they're both orange-"
"Hanajima, what do you think?" She asked the girl next to her, ignoring him again.
"Black," Hanajima said passively.
"Of course you would say that," he muttered.
"No wait, she's got a point." Uotani put her hands into a square, and peered through it. "Your hair is already bright so black would actually be a really good contrast." She set her hands down. "Do you like black, Kyon?"
He owned a few black things. "I...guess?"
"Okay, so black’s an option. We're getting somewhere. What other colors? How about blue?" Blue made him think of Yuki and he wrinkled his nose. He saw Uotani snort and then say, "Okay, no blue then. Shame. I think you'd look good in a navy. Or maybe a midnight."
She was being weirdly nice to him today and it made him uneasy. But this was for Tohru, right? Would Tohru like blue? She wore blue sometimes, so maybe she would.
"I guess…" he scratched the back of his neck in embarrassment, "a darker blue would be okay."
“That’s the spirit!” She slung an arm over his shoulders that he had to shrug off. Hanajima was already sifting through racks.
“What about this?” She held up what looked like a conservative turtleneck sweater.
He raised an eyebrow. “Are you joking?”
“What’s wrong with it?” Uotani asked defensively. “It would make you look artsy.”
“I’m not ‘artsy’ and when have I ever worn anything like that?”
“Are you dumb? The point of this is to find things you wouldn’t wear normally. Because, y’know, you wanna actually look good for once”
They were really testing his patience. And he didn’t have a lot to begin with. “Are you dumb? It’s the middle of summer!” He fired back. “Plus, I hate collars. I wouldn’t be caught dead in that.”
“Shall we test that theory?” Hanajima asked, an evil look in her eye.
“Please don’t.”
Uotani looked like she just had a revelation. “Huh. So is that why you don’t wear a tie with your uniform? Because you hate collars?”
“I don’t really like anything around my neck.”
“Wow. And here I thought you were just going for the ‘cool delinquent’ look.”
“I’m not you.”
“Hah?!” She glared at him. “And what’s that supposed to mean? You wanna fight or somethin’?”
He wasn’t gonna rise to that bait. “I don’t fight girls and you’re just proving my point.”
“Arisa,” Hanajima called, “We’re running out of time.”
Uotani blinked. “Oh, right.” And then like nothing happened, she mumbled, “So no collars then. Got it.”
And then she picked up what looked like a shirt that could fit a child. “What about this?”
“Now you’re just screwing with me.”
“Aww, c’mon, it could be like a crop top. You’re like a black belt or whatever, right?” She made to jab his side and he dodged. “You gotta have some muscle. If you show off some ab, you might get lucky.”
His face heated up. “Oi, stop saying things like that in public! You really have no shame at all, do you?”
She rolled her eyes. “Y’know for someone who apparently never goes shopping, you’re a real pain in the ass to buy clothes for.”
“Good,” he responded sarcastically, “Can I leave then?”
She grabbed his sleeve to keep him in place. “Yeah, no. But nice try though.”
“Nothing here is suitable,” Hanajima said matter of factly. “We should go to a different section. Perhaps the one over there?” And she pointed towards the right corner, where he saw an assortment of mannequins with crisp button-downs on display.
Uotani nodded. “Good call!” And then she tugged on his sleeve like he was an unruly child. “C’mon, Kyon, let’s go.”
He followed after in defeat. He could be pretending to do his homework with his girlfriend right now..
Uotani grabbed what looked like a black button down and held it up against him. “This could be nice.”
“I have a black shirt like that at home,” he said, hoping maybe that could get him out of this.
She curled her lip in disgust. “This isn’t black, Kyon, this is midnight blue.”
He furrowed his brow. “What the hell’s the difference? It looks black to me.”
“Ugh, you really don’t know anything about clothes, do you?”
“I told you I didn’t!”
“Disgraceful,” Hanajima said disdainfully from behind. “How shameless of you to get this color confused for black.”
Why is she acting like I insulted her, personally?
“I do feel insulted,” she responded.
He jolted. “Quit doing that!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After getting a bundle of clothes shoved in his arms and essentially pushed into a dressing room with a “Kyon, try this on”, he’s just been sitting in this stall for the past 10 or so minutes. It wasn’t ideal, but atleast it was peaceful. He couldn’t even remember the last time he’d really bought clothes for himself like this. He would normally just pick it from the rack and leave.
He checked himself out in the mirror. It was...not bad, actually, but he couldn‘t admit that or he would never hear the end of it. That button down from earlier that they swore was blue (it looked black to him), a light gray V-neck and some tan pants (what’d they call it? Corduroy?) that were a bit tighter than he was used to, but not unbearable.
“Oi!” He heard Uotani call from outside obnoxiously. “Are you dead in there?”
He rolled his eyes and sighed. He could just ignore her, but she would probably barge in here and drag him out and he wanted to keep whatever tiny bit of dignity he had left.
He slumped through the curtains. They both just stared at him, without saying anything, and it made him wanna crawl out of his skin. Uotani circled around him like he was a trophy on display and then started rolling up the sleeves of his shirt up to his elbows.
She circled around him again, narrowing her eyes and then whistled. “Wow. We should’ve done this a long time ago. Hanajima, what do you think?”
“Indeed. I can almost see the appeal.”
He scratched the back of his neck in embarrassment. “Well, glad I got your approval I guess-” and then his brain caught up. “Wait.” He glared at Hanajima. “What do you mean ‘almost’?”
She gave him a blank stare. “Which part was confusing?”
“What do you care anyway?” Uotani chimed in before he could retort, “It’s not like you’re dating us.”
“Thank God for that,” he muttered.
Uotani gave him a flat look, but thankfully, didn’t hit him. “Well, that outfit’s a winner. Let’s go find some more.”
What. “More?” he asked in disbelief.
“Well, yeah, you can’t live with only one outfit, Kyon.”
He stood in front of her, blocking the way. “No way, I only agreed to the one. And besides, didn’t you say you had a shift? We’ve already been here for over an hour.”
She shrugged, easily walking by him. “True, but now that we’ve narrowed down what you’d actually wear, it should be easy enough to find things that are similar.”
He grimaced. “Look, I don’t need you to-”
“Will you stop fretting?” She cut him off. “Geez, you’re almost as bad as Tohru. Just let us do something nice for you.”
He didn’t wanna have to owe any favors to these people.
“We don’t have any ulterior motives if that’s what you’re wondering,” Hanajima said, in response to his thoughts.
“Seriously, stop doing that,” he groaned, “It’s creepy as hell.”
This was a losing battle. He sighed and just followed them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He heard whispering behind him and out of the corner of his eye, saw a group of girls all whispering and giggling to each other.
“C’mon, go talk to him,” he heard one whisper.
“No, I can’t,” he heard another one, “What if one of those girls is his girlfriend?”
He glowered at that. Why did people just assume things like that? It pissed him off.
“Oi,” he heard Uotani next to him, “Those hot girls over there are checking you out.”
He raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, they’ve been there for like 5 minutes. So?” Since when has he ever cared about that?
She gave him a surprised look. Did she think he hadn’t noticed?
“Huh. You really don’t have eyes for anyone except Tohru, do you?” He thought that was obvious. “Hmm, well, that’s good. Atleast we don’t have to worry about you cheating.”
He bristled. “You have some nerve! I would never do that.”
“Correct,” Hanajima agreed, and then she got a sinister look. “Because if you did, terrible things might happen to you.”
He blanched. “I get it. Please stay away from me.”
He thought they would go their separate ways after that, but they insisted on walking him home.
“Why are you coming?”
“Hmm? What’s that tone?” Uotani started grabbing his face, squeezing it. “We just wanna make sure no one tries to kidnap that pretty face.”
He roughly pushed her arm away. “Get off me! And I don’t need two girls to protect me!”
“Then how about just allowing us to accompany you so that we might say hi to Tohru-kun?” Hanajima asked.
“I-” He sighed, “Whatever, do what you want I guess.”
It was when they came inside, he saw Tohru sitting at the table, doing what looked like homework.
“Oh! Kyo-kun!” She got up to grab his shirt around his waist. “Kunimitsu-san said you left a while ago so I was starting to get worried.” And then she seemed to notice the two other people behind him. “Uo-chan? Hana-chan? What’s going on?”
“Someone was trying to kidnap Kyon so we rescued him.”
Tohru paled. “Heh? Kidnap?”
“Don’t lie to her, you’re gonna freak her out.” And then he flatly said, “They hijacked me.”
“Who’s lying now?” Uotani made to chop him in the head, but he dodged. “We took your boyfriend on a little shopping trip.” And then she winked which made him reassess his ‘no hitting girls’ policy. “You’re welcome.”
Tohru just furrowed her brow in confusion which was really fucking adorable and he had to resist every urge in his body to not kiss her. Not in front of those two. “Um...shopping trip for what?”
“Well, our job is done!” She patted him on the back. Hard . “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.”
Hanajima actually smiled. “Have fun tomorrow, Tohru-kun.”
Tohru lit up, confusion over the shopping trip forgotten. “Oh, thank you!
And just as suddenly as they had appeared in front of him earlier, they were gone, and he slumped. Those two were exhausting.
“Um, Kyo-kun?” He heard and saw that she looked a bit worried. “Did you guys...get along okay?”
Well, he made it back alive and intact so… “Yeah, I guess so.”
“Oh, good. What did you talk about?”
He shrugged. “Nothing much.” And then seeing his opportunity, he smirked. “They told me how you spilled on what a terrible boyfriend I am.”
“Heh?!” Her face went red as a firetruck and she started babbling, “I didn’t-I wouldn’t- um- please believe me I-”
She is so cute. He bent down to kiss her nose. “Calm down, I was kidding.”
She closed her mouth, but her face was still beet red. “You’re always teasing me,” she pouted.
“That’s because it’s easy,” he patted her head, “And you like it, don’t you?”
She averted her eyes out of embarrassment, which only made his own grin wider. She cleared her throat. “That’s a big shopping bag.”
“Hmm?” And then looked down at the bag he was still holding, full of a few different outfits that those two women had strongarmed him into. “Yeah, I guess it is.”
“What’s in it?”
His first urge was to just show her since she asked, but something held him back. He had gone on that nightmare, allowed Uotani and Hanajima to treat him like their own personal toy...he wasn’t gonna let that go to waste. He was gonna milk it for all it was worth.
“Can’t tell you,” he said to her look of curiosity. “It’s a surprise.”
“Surprise, huh?” she mumbled to herself, and he braced himself when he saw the gleam in her eyes.
“Ha!” she shouted, as she swiped for the bag only to be met with air as he switched it to the other hand. Her look of confusion was precious.
He chuckled, “You didn’t actually think you were being sneaky, did you?”
She huffed in defeat and he would always cherish seeing this part of her. The childish part. “Will I get to see one day?”
“Yep. Tomorrow.”
“Tomorrow?” she perked up. “Sounds exciting.” Her eyes widened as she looked at something behind him. “Oh my gosh, it’s 6 already? I gotta start dinner.”
“Did you want help?” he offered. Any time spent with her was worth it.
She grinned. “Nope! I think you would just be more of a distraction actually. I can handle it.”
He froze, feeling warm all of a sudden. A...distraction? Was she...hitting on him?
“Oi, you can’t just say things like that so casually.” It’s not good for my heart.
She cocked her head innocently. A little too innocently. “Huh? What do you mean?”
She was definitely baiting him...and he so badly wanted to go for it, but Shigure was probably in his room listening like the creep he was and Rat Boy would be home any second if he wasn’t already.
“Nevermind,” he sighed out, “I’m gonna go upstairs.”
“Oh, okay.” And then she pecked his cheek. “I’ll call you when dinner’s ready.”
He grunted in acknowledgement, his face still burning.
In the two years he’s known her, he would’ve never pegged her as such a flirt.
He’d be lying if he said he wasn’t into it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He assessed himself in the mirror critically. He wasn’t stupid, he knew he wasn’t bad-looking, but was this really the kind of look Tohru would be into? What if he went through that shopping trip of Hell just for her to tell him it never mattered?
A light knock on the door. “Kyo-kun, I’m heading downstairs,” came her sweet, muffled voice.
He sighed. Why was he acting like a scared little kid anyway? It wasn’t like this was their first date. And they’d already agreed to spend their lives together. He had nothing to worry about, not with her, even though there was a tiny part that kept reminding him he didn’t deserve her in the first place.
He opened the door to find the hallway blissfully empty. Shigure was probably at the main estate doing god knows what (and he really didn’t wanna know) and Yuki was at his girlfriend's place...or something. It really wasn’t his job to keep track of them.
He saw her standing by the front door and felt his breath leave him. She was wearing a dress he’d never seen before (was it new?); it was a light pink and modest, but her shoulders were completely exposed, the usual sleeves resting over her upper arms. His eyes wandered below the shoulders, noting how it curved around her chest and conformed to her waist, ending just above her knees, leaving most of her smooth, fair skin on display. Damn, she’s so-
“Kyo-kun, are you alright?”
“That dress…” was all he managed to say. “Where’d you get it?”
“Oh! Um- Uo-chan and Hana-chan got it for me as a birthday present.” Those two bought her this? Tohru looked away shyly. “Do you like it? I thought it might be too much but they were insistent and-”
He surged forward to kiss her to cut her off. He broke away quickly before it could get heated, and stroked her lips with his thumb. “You’re really beautiful.”
Her face went so red he thought she would combust and paired with that dress, it was so, so endearing and he was half-tempted to just say ‘fuck the date’ and keep her here while they were alone.
She pushed his face away gently, trying to hide her own. “D-Don’t look at me like that while being so nice. You’ll make me not want to leave.”
Oh really?
“Hmm?” he teased, “What do you mean by that?”
“Nothing,” she lied. But then she recovered, though her cheeks were still pink. “You look really handsome in this, Kyo-kun. Is this what you were doing with Uo-chan and Hana-chan?”
“Something like that.” And then he smirked. “What, are you saying I’m not handsome normally?”
“What? No, of course not! You always are! What I meant was-”
He set his fist on her hair gently. “It’s fine, dummy, I’m just teasing.” Hearing her confirm it with no hesitation did make something warm spark in his chest though.
She didn’t respond and when he looked down, he saw her eyes roving up his body. Very slowly. And that warm feeling turned into something hot.
“I suppose I’ll have to thank Uo-chan and Hana-chan later, won’t I?” she said, her voice low and breathy.
“I guess we both do.” He grabbed her hand, kissing the tips of her fingers lightly, watching as her dark eyes stayed fixated. “You ready to go?”
“Yes,” she whispered and as he opened the door for her, allowing her to step in front of him, he was starting to think he owed those two women a favor after all.
Maybe he could give them flowers or something..

two - they're all animals!
‘they're all animals!’
Tumblr media
. ⋅ ˚̣- : ✧ : – ⭒ ⊹ ⭒ – : ✧ : -˚̣⋅ .
“Hello! Package for you from Speedy Delivery!”
“SHIT SOMEONE’S AT THE DOOR,” I exclaimed while holding the orange cat rushing to open the door while Tohru followed behind me.
I open the door quickly before shouting out. “THEY’RE…THEY’RE…THEY’RE ALL ANIMALS!”
“Yes, ma'am, I see you have some animals there.” The delivery man said with a smile. “Could you sign this, please?
Tohru was hyperventilating behind me trying to catch her breath since I ran so fast to the door.
“NO, WHAT I MEAN IS-“ As the dog cut me off while signing the package.
“What a smart dog!” The delivery man says as he hands me the package while the “animals” are on the floor. “Thank you, see you next time!” He waves as he walks away.
Out of exhaustion, I fell to the floor with the package in my hands as Tohru sat down trying to catch her breathe still.
“WE CAN’T EVEN MAKE A GOOD COVER STORY IF YOU JERKS TRANSFORM, TOO!” The orange cat screamed at the dog and rat.
“You’re the one who slipped up first, you stupid cat.”
Tohru and I turned towards them and back at each other.
“Th-they can speak human language?!?!” Tohru says confused.
“EXCUSE ME?!?!”
“Shut up, clumsy cat.”
Shigure barked as Yuki still sat on his head, “Well, better to just tell them than to make up a story they won’t believe.”
“I have the dog spirit,” Shigure explained as he turned his head to face Tohru and me. “Yuki-kun has a rat spirit, and Kyo Sohma over there has a cat spirit. We’re all possessed.” The orange cat also known as Kyo kept on hissing then made a sassy face.
“Others in the Sohma family are possessed by the other zodiac spirits, too. It’s run in the family for hundreds of years now.” Shigure continued to explain as I stood up grabbing Tohru’s hand to help her up. “It doesn’t give us any especially cool powers, though. Pretty much all we do is communicate with our respective animals, and for some reason, we transform when we’re sick, or when hugged by the opposite sex. We automatically turn human again after a while…” The minute he said that they turned back into their human form and Tohru and I were met with naked men, quickly I covered Tohru’s eyes and turned around as Tohru was freaking out. “…Buck naked, I’m afraid.”

In the dining room
Y/n’s pov
“Sorry, you had to see that.” Shigure apologized as they were finally dressed. “Are you girls feeling a bit calmer now?”
“Uh, I’ve mostly processed things. How about you Tohru?” I asked her as we sat at the table.
“Um same I’ve mostly processed things.”
Me and Tohru faced each other as if we read each other minds shocked. ‘This must be why Sohma-kun shoved away from the girl who tried to hug him.’
“Man, Kyo, you’re such an idiot!” Shigure says while sitting down in front of me. “Should a trained martial artist be so easy for a girl to sneak up on?” Shigure teased Kyo. “You really have eyes for no one except Yuki-kun!” As he continued to tease Kyo which seemed to make Kyo rile up.
“DON’T MAKE ME SOUND CREEPY! AND DON’T BLAME ME.” Kyo exclaimed as he turned around to face us. “What the hell are they—two girls—doing here in the first place?!?” As he pointed at me and Tohru. I quickly got in front of Tohru to protect her just in case anything happened to her.
“Be quiet. It’s none of your business whether there are girls in this house.” Yuki turned around. “You’re an outsider.”
“SHUT UP!” Yelled Kyo as he punched the table which caused my forehead to start bleeding but thank the lord Tohru was behind me. “Huh?”
“Y/n-kun, you’re bleeding!” Shigure and Yuki looked at me in worry.
“Uh it’s a little blood, I’ll be fine.”
“Y/n you always say that when we were younger!” Tohru exclaimed.
“We need to treat it fast,” Shigure said with a worried look on his face.
Kyo looked like he was in shock but I could care less right now since my forehead was bleeding.
“Let’s see, antibiotic ointment…” As Shigure was looking for the ointment, Tohru was holding my hand in worry and Yuki smacked the shit out of Kyo.
“Yuk-“
“I knew you were an idiot, but I didn’t think you were this bad,” Yuki said with a calm look on his face as he unbuttons one of his buttons. “Out of respect of the sheer depth of your idiocy, I’ll do you a favor: I’ll fight you seriously,” Yuki said with a slight smile on his face.
“Kyo, don’t bore me.” As Yuki raised a hand beside his face.
“Bring it on, girly-boy!”
The duo started to fight. Kyo tried to kick Yuki but Yuki dodge it. They continued to fight as Tohru and I watched. Tohru looked concerned so she tried to call out to stop them.
“Sohma-kun!”
I didn’t give a shit cause this fight was one of the most amusing things I have ever witnessed.
“Don’t worry, Tohru. They get along so badly it’s not even funny.” Shigure said while getting close to my face to clean the wound. “They’re always fighting like that.”
“Er, shouldn’t we stop them?” Asked Tohru.
 “Nah, it’ll be over soon,” Shigure said as he tended to my wound. “Today will be…” As he finally placed a bandage on my head. “…Another win for Yuki-kun.”
The minute Shigure whispered that Yuki suddenly got so close to Kyo’s face which made Kyo panic. It gave Yuki a chance to hit Kyo across the face his foot which sent Kyo flying through the doors into the small pond.
“I told you not to bored me.”
“Damn he went flying,” I smirked.
“He..he went flying…” Tohru said in shock.
“Don’t you go breaking my house, too!”
“Y/n-san, how badly are you hurt?” Yuki asked as he kneeled beside me.
“I’m fine, that fight was amusing though,” I said with a smile.
“Is he going to be alright?” Tohru asked with a slight lace of worry for the ginger.
“Eh.”
“I figure he’s probably fine.” As Yuki said that Kyo came out of the water out of breath.
‘I never would have guessed that this boy they call “prince” was so tough. He’s so different at school. OH SHIT SCHOOL, THAT THE ONE THING TOHRU AND I PROMISED TO MOM TO FINISH.’
“Tohru, we’re going to be late for school!”
“AHH, I FORGOT WE HAVE SCHOOL!!”
“We’re sorry about our timing! But it’s very important to us that we get to school every day!” I said while standing up as I grab Tohru’s hand to help her up.
“Of course. You both promised your mother, after all.” Shigure said. “Still, I’ll have to report what happened to Akito-san, the family head.”
“Family head? That must be someone important. As long as they don’t harm Tohru in any way I don’t mind meeting them.”
“We’ll go change our clothes now,” I said as I grab Tohru’s hand and run to our room.
“Sure.”
⊱ ━━━━.⋅ εïз ⋅.━━━━ ⊰
“That explains why you spilled our secret so easily,” Yuki said. “You’re planning to have their memories removed, like back then…”
“No, I’m not, actually.” Spoke Shigure. “We had no choice that day because of how many people found out.”
“I’m going to school, too,” Yuki said while walking to his room to get dressed. “At least fix the roof, stupid cat!”
“Kyo-kun, look after things here, okay?” Questioned Shigure. “Don’t even think about going missing again while I’m gone.” Stated Shigure as he walked away. “And be sure you apologize to Y/n-kun.”

In class
“It’s not like you two be late. Did you two oversleep?” Uotani asked as she and Hanajima walked to Tohru and I’s desk.
“Huh? Oh, yea.”
The day I told Tohru that I was her sister was the day we also told Hana-chan and Uo-chan since we thought it would be good for them to know.
“My, my! Oversleep, eh?” We all turn around to face the random girl who was talking to us. “You should have just stayed home.” As I was about to get up and beat the shit out of these bitches, Hana beat me to it and chased those girls with her evil waves.
“The prince came late today, too, so they’re extra suspicious,” Uotani told us as we continued to stare at the door.
Tohru and I looked at each other and read each other’s minds again. ‘We definitely can’t tell them that we slept at Yuki’s house.’
Hanajima walked back in. “Morons. Their brain cells must not get much exercise.”
Without realizing it, Yuki stares at my group as we continued to talk.

After school
I and Tohru walked down the hallway together as always.
“Honda-san.” Tohru and I turned to see who called us. We saw that it was Yuki in an empty classroom. We entered the classroom curious about why Yuki had called us both in here.
“Sohma-kun?”
“You…didn’t tell your friends about us.”
“Hmm? No, we didn’t.”
“Oh, no, did we make you worry about that?!” Asked Tohru. “We’ll never tell!”
“Tohru’s right, our mother often told us that only bad guys blab others’ secrets!”
“No, what I mean is…”
“We swear on an oath. We’ll seal it in blood, or with a cigarette burn, or whatever you want.” I declared.
“No, listen…”
“Our mom used to do that a lot-“
“That’s not the issue!” As Yuki kabedon me against the wall while Tohru just stood there shocked. I on the other hand was just confused asf.
“I’m sorry. Even though you’re doing your best to keep our secret, we might end up erasing yours and Tohru’s memories.”
“Huh??”
“Not literally. It’s hypnotism. A long time ago, I got found out like we did today. A girl hugged me, just playing around. It turned into a big thing, and the memories of everyone there got suppressed.” Yuki explained.
“Sohma-kun” Tohru said as Yuki turned his head to face her instead of me.
“I’m sorry.” Yuki apologized as he started to walk away. “I can’t go against Akito’s decrees. No matter what decision gets handed down, I can’t do anything. So… I’m sorry.”
“W-wait, I-“ Tohru ended up colliding into Yuki’s back which caused him to transform. I quickly ran to the classroom door to close it. Thank the lord no one heard or saw us.
“I’m so sorry! It wasn’t on purpose, I swear!” Tohru said as she kept on apologizing while glooming at the wall.
“It’s fine, as long as no one saw.”
“You guys are so lucky that I ran to the door and closed it. A girl was running down the hallway and I think she heard it but left anyways.” I announced.
“Anyway thank you for worrying about us. I worry about Tohru way too much that sometimes I forget to worry about myself as well.” I stated while holding tightly onto my bag.
“It makes us happy. But we’ll be okay!” Tohru said while looking down Yuki’s rat form. “The way that we see it, is that you might have no choice if the secret that we found out was that important.”
I added to what Tohru said. “So please do whatever will make you and your family feel safe. I would do the same if It came down to me and Tohru.”
“Although the idea of forgetting does make us a little bit sad, we’ll grin and bear it!”
“Please promise us this Sohma-kun, if our memories get erased, please be friends with us again, okay?” As I said that Yuki turned back into his human form which made me and Tohru turn away in embarrassment.
“The amount of time we stay as animals varies,” Yuki explained while getting dressed. “Okay, all done.” He said as he turned around to face us.
“Your necktie is crooked,” I told him.
“I’m not very good at this sort of thing.”
‘Then how did he fix his necktie this morning?!? Uh whatever, it probably better not to question him.’
I walked towards Yuki to fix his necktie. “Time to show what I can do I guess,” I said as I fix his necktie.
“Y/n, you don’t feel sickened?”
“Nope, I’m all better now!”
“Huh? No, that’s not what I meant…”
“Anyways shall we go home?”
“Yes, let’s!” Tohru said with a smile on her face as we all walk out of the classroom and down the hallway.
“Thank you.”
“Don’t worry, tie-knotting is a specialty of mine.”

At Shigure’s house
I walk into my and Tohru’s room to place our bags down but was met with Kyo stepping down from the ladder.
“Call in a pro later to fix it for real,” Kyo said.
‘Did this guy just tape the roof?’
“Right now you only need to keep the rain out, right?”
I stood in the doorway not knowing what to say. “Y-yeah.”
“Hey!”
“Yes?!?”
“I… get... tunnel vision. When I’m upset.” He explains while gripping the tape.
‘Damn I wish my throat was that tape right now, wait what.’
“So, about what happened this morning...”
“I’m… so—“
‘Omg he’s a tsundere, that’s so cute. I love tsunderes.’
“Yuki-kun, Tohru-sun, Y/n-kun, I’m back!” Shigure said as he interrupted what Kyo was going to say. “Oh, and Kyo-sun, that clumsy idiot who lost another fight!”
“Forget it, dammit!” Kyo said as he grabbed the ladder and ran past me.
“Huh? Wait what just happened? Please, wait!” As I chased after the ginger not before placing down Tohru’s and I bag and closing the door.
The slam of the door caused a bag to fall over which contained a hat.

“It’s good news. The Hondas are allowed to live with us as long as they keep our secret.” Shigure explained as he took off his coat.
“We won’t be punished?” Tohru asked.
“No, but you girls have to keep it quiet!”
“We will!”
‘Thank goodness. Our memories won’t go away and I won’t have to fight a random bitch who tries to touch Tohru’s memories.’
“That almost sounds too good to be true…”
“You and Akito better not be plotting something and mixing the Hondas up in it,” Yuki said with a glare.
“No! Would I do that?”

“I’ll trust this ‘Y/n and Tohru’ person…”
“This might be a good opportunity…”

“Excuse me.” Tohru interrupted them. “Er, I know it’s weird to say this again, but it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance.” As Tohru said that I said the same thing then bowed.
“Yours, too!”
“Yeah. Yours, too.”
Tohru and I walked up behind the ginger. “I-it’s a pleasure, um… Kyo-san.” Tohru said nervously. “Yeah, it’s a pleasure to meet you, Kyo-san.”
“Whatever! I’ve got nothing—“ Kyo said to us before getting kicked in the face again by Yuki. “What the hell was that for?!”
“Go away, outsider.”
Yuki and Kyo continued to argue with each other.

“This is amazing,” Yuki said in amazement. “I’m impressed you guys managed to get such a rotten kitchen so clean.”
“We gave it our all!”
“Shigure owns a rice cooker?”
“Oh yeah, Tohru excavated it,” I say as I swept the floor.
We all gather in the dining area for Yuki to try out the food that Tohru and I made.
“So how is it? Is the flavor strong enough?”
“It’s great. I haven’t had a meal like this in so long!”
“I’m so glad you like it.” Smiled Tohru.
“Shigure and that stupid cat are sure late. Where did they go, Siberia?”
“I hope that’s where they’ll stay.” I laughed.
“Y/n that’s mean,” Tohru exclaimed. “Anyways you went out for a while, too, right?”
“Yeah. I went to my secret base in the backyard.”
“Secret base?!” Tohru said with stars in her eyes.
“Tohru, I don’t think he’s talking about that one you’re thinking about.” I muffled while still stuffing my face with food.
“Yeah what Y/n said. It’s probably not what you’re imagining. But I’ll invite you two there some time if you want.”
“You’d let us come?!” Tohru said still with stars in her eyes. “I’m so excited! A secret base!” Tohru says while shaking me. “I saw one when Y/n and I were little, but—“
The door opened and revealed Kyo and Shigure.
‘Damn Shigure looks good in a suit. Might have to hit it later/j. Oo, Kyo looks mad I wonder what happened.’
“SHUT UP!”
“I want you to listen for a second, Kyo.”
“I’m so pissed. Is it fun for you, manipulating people like that?!” Kyo yelled as he and Shigure sped-walked around us. Tohru looked invested so I shoved food down her throat. Don’t worry I didn’t choke her. It was only to turn her attention away from those idiots.
“Slow down! Sure, I’m thoroughly enjoying it, but it’s for your own good!”
Me shoving the food down Tohru’s throat didn’t work so I just let her be and continued to eat my food with Yuki.
“That’s so not convincing!”
“W-Welcome home! Would you like to eat?” Tohru asked frantically.
“HELL NO!”
The minute that ginger said that I was about to jump up and punch the shit out of him but then I realized he’s a tsundere so he’s going to act like that.
“Don't take it out on Tohru-kun! And no shoes in the house.”
“You aren’t convincing, Shigure.”
“Oh, there’s food ready.”
“So why was Kyo so upset?” I mumbled as I continued to munch on my food.
“Oh, him. It’s because I tricked him into taking a school transfer exam.”
“Transfer?” Tohru questioned as she handed a bowl of rice.
“Yes. Starting tomorrow, Kyo-kun will be commuting from here to the same school you three go to.” Shigure explained while holding the bowl of rice. “Thanks for the cooking!”
“Don’t eat. Don’t come near us. Get out.” Yuki said with an evil aura around him.
“Yeah, I figured you’d be angry… So the thing is, Kyo passed the exam for a boys’ high school near his place, but he never went, and he dropped off the map for over four months. He’s been training in the mountains.”
“Training?” Questioned Tohru.
“Kyo wants to beat Yuki-kun in a fight, you see. They’ve been rivals since they were little.”
“He’s an idiot. Thanks for the cooking.” Yuki thanks us before walking away.
“You’re welcoming.”
‘I wonder if Kyo-san wants to beat Sohma-kun because he resents being tricked like he was in the old story. But I get the feeling it would be invasive to ask him that. And I think Kyo-san already hates me anyways... It makes me a little sad. I finally got to meet the zodiac cat, and yet…’

At school
“Where is he?”
“Look, over there! The boy with orange hair!”
“Think it’s his natural color?”
“He’s cute!”
“Say, are you Sohma-kun’s cousin?”
Kyo looked nervous as hell. He was sweating so much but I mean who wouldn’t be when a bunch of girls is all gathered up near his desk.
“Are you two close?”
Uotani, Tohru, and I stared at Kyo while Hanajima was curling my hair.
“Yuki-kun, I hear your cousin transferred here?”
I turn my head slightly to where Yuki was.
“Introduce us!”
“I’m sorry, Sempai. We’re technically cousins, but we’re not close.” Yuki turned around to explain. “I’ve never even spoken to him.”
Uotani spoke up. “I like his hair color. It’s a little like Kyoko-san’s.
“I feel them. I feel the same waves as Yuki Sohma’s.” Hanajima spoke up. “What are they? What am I sensing? These waves aren’t human…”
‘Never underestimate Hana-chan’s wave report.’
Kyo got up from his chair and was about to walk out until a girl grabbed his arm. “Wait, what? Where are you go—?” Kyo immediately grabbed the girl’s arm and put her in a locked position on the floor. Kyo was freaking out.
“LEAVE ME ALONE!” Kyo screamed as he opened the window and jumped from like what the third floor?
Uotani spoke up “That guy’s kinda entertaining.”
⊱ ━━━━.⋅ εïз ⋅.━━━━ ⊰
At the side of the school
Kyo sat down trying to catch his breath until Yuki interrupt him.
“Oy, would you mind thinking a little more before you act?”
“Why are you going to a school crawling with girls like this? Are you insane?”
“It’s a lot better than being forced to go to Akito’s chosen boys’ school. I want to get at least one foot out of the Sohma cage. I don’t understand why you want to go inside it.”
“You… You would never understand!” yelled Kyo. Tohru and I walked towards the yelling and found idiot 1 and idiot 2 together.
“I’m going to win. I’ll win against you, and become a full-fledged member of the Sohma’s! I won’t let them ostracize me anymore!” As Kyo grabbed Yuki by his shirt.
As I love a good fight, I wouldn’t want these idiots to get in trouble so I ran quickly into Kyo’s back to stop them from fighting.
“You know I would usually allow you guys to fight but we’re on school property and I rather not have you guys get in trouble,” I explained as Tohru ran to my side.
“CAN IT, YOU!” The stupid cat yelled at me. “ALL I CARE ABOUT IS BEATING YUKI! DON’T GET IN MY WAY! WHAT’S YOUR PROBLEM?!”
“Oy, Kyo.”
“GET OUT OF MY SIGHT!” The cat said to me angrily. Normally I wouldn’t be affected by this but this was my favorite zodiac and I kinda felt my heart sunk. I walked away in shame. “Max rage… He hates me… I just earned his complete hatred…” I said in shock as Tohru led me away with a sad look on her face.
“You are an idiot,” Yuki said as he began to walked away from the cat.
“You’re not going to punch me?” Wondered the cat.
“Sometimes, not getting punched hurts more,” Yuki said while finally walking away as the cat stared at his bracelet.

At Shigure’s house
“You skipped out on your very first day?” Questioned Shigure as he read the newspaper.
“I want to leave this house.”
“It’s only your third day here. Think of this as a form of training, and suck it up.”
“I always end up saying mean things to her.”
“Her? You mean Tohru-kun?”
“No, the other one,” Kyo said while laying on his side. “I can’t do this, okay? I’m not cut out for living around other people.”
“You just don’t have enough experience, that’s all,” Shigure explained as he kept reading the newspaper. “Here’s an analogy: You can break a table with one punch, but you can also pull back that punch just before it lands. Getting along well with other people works the same way.” Shigure continued to explain.
“You need to interact with strangers, hurt them, get hurt by them, learn about people, and learn about yourself, too, or else you can’t become capable of true empathy.” Kyo turned around to face Shigure. “Keep training now and don’t run away, so that one day when you meet a girl who says she loves you, you’ll be able to treasure her.”
“Like there even is such a girl.”
“What will you do if there is?”
“I can’t even imagine,” Kyo says as he turns back to face outside. “I guess I’ll start by asking her if she’s crazy.”
“I see.”
Yuki and Tohru open the door to the dining area. “I’m home.”
“Welcome back. Where is Y/n-kun?”
“At work. She won’t be done until later, so Tohru and I are thinking of walking her home.”
“Yeah, I wouldn’t want my younger sister walking home by herself.” Smiled Tohru.
“Yeah, do that. Perverts sometimes wander around here.”

My shift had finished a few minutes ago and I was now walking home through this bamboo forest.
‘Get out of my sight’
When Tohru said that she’d quit being the dog and be a cat instead, I did the same inside.
“I can’t believe he hates me…”
‘Just be you, Y/n.’
“I know, mom, I won’t get discouraged!” I say while looking up to the moon.
I heard a noise around me more specifically behind me. “Could… Could that be… one of the ‘perverts’ people talk about?! NO!” I screamed as I quickly hit the person with my bag. I open my eyes to see that it was Kyo.
‘Oh shit, he’s going to hate me even more now.’
He turns around to face the other way.
“U-Um! I was just, er, doing practice swings!” I say in a panic. “It’s a lucky day, right! Are you going for a walk, Kyo-san?”
“Cut that out! Being called -san makes me itchy. You can just drop it.”
“Kyo… kun?”
“Yeah, what?”
“Uh, I was just testing the name.”
“Don’t say my name if you don’t need anything!” I started to shake as I gripped my bag as hard as I could.
“Okay!”
“No, scratch that. It’s fine. You can call my name without needing anything. And I don’t mind if you hang around where I can see you, and if something pisses you off, you can hit me, as you did just now.
‘Oh my god, he’s a tsundere, cute. I mean wait what. Anyways could he be trying to apologize to me? That’s why he came out here…?’
“Listen! I’m sorry, it was a misunderstanding.” I say while bowing then look up at him. “I said ’NO!’ And hit you with my bag because I mistook you for a pervert!”
“A-A pervert?”
“What I feel is love! I’ve always loved the zodiac cat but I never really showed it when I was younger! It’s true! I… I wanted to be the year of the cat! So what I’m saying is… I want to be friends!”

“Kyo-kun, you lecher!” Shigure teased Kyo.
“Why would you say that?!”
“You know, Kyo-kun personally offered to walk you home from work!” Tohru explained.
“It’ll never happen again! No more!”
“Okay.” I smiled at Kyo. “But seeing you eat a proper meal makes me even happier, Kyo-kun.”
“How is it? Do you like it?” Tohru asked.
Kyo caught Yuki staring at him.
“What?!”
“Nothing.”
“You were looking at me.”
“Only looking at you.”
“Like you would look at me for no reason!”
“Is it bad?” I asked Kyo.
“Yes!”
“Uh, I guess Tohru and I will try harder next time…”
“Uh, no… um…”
‘As you can see, we patched things up. I have a feeling the days ahead will be fun!’

𝐀𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐃𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫
𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝟏𝟒:
You knocked on their front door, a basket of food in your hands that you prepped earlier in the day. You hope it wasn’t rude to ask them to use their kitchen, you thought it would be much better to cook them fresh dinner rather than something you stored in the fridge from the morning.
It had been a couple of days since your encounter with Akito and you have been trying to contact Yuki more often. At first, you didn’t know what you were supposed to do in order to “maintain” your friendship, as your relationship with Yuki always seemed to be left in the air, waiting to be taken.
It was small gestures of acknowledgment you tried to hint at towards him. For example, you told him that Tohru wanted to invite him to a game of badminton after school. While you were unable to attend due to your shift, you encouraged him to play with them, if not for his sake but for yours. You were a bit glad to hear that he came back to you later in the day and texted you about his experience, saying that he felt much lighter than he did earlier.
You may have replied a bit late due to your shift, but you noticed yourself smiling a bit more often as you began to think about the gray-haired male. Shimada commented on your positive attitude and thought that you might have broken out of your nest to explore the world, while Aikyo said you were choosing a lot more zodiac related stationery. This feeling of caring and thinking about others was flooding your mind like a cup under the faucet, constantly overfilling.
You heard a couple of voices behind the door and some shuffling before the door slid open. Shigure greeted you casually while inviting you in.
“Oh! What brings you here (Y/n)-kun?” He asked.
You lifted up the basket full of food, “dinner. I wanted to thank you for the other time when you invited me for dinner.”
“That’s amazing! Perfect timing as well, Tohru-kun and Yuki’s brother went out to eat and we didn’t have anything.” You took off your shoes before making your way to the table, seeing Kyo and Yuki sitting there watching T.V.
“(L/n)-san?” Yuki questioned, “what are you doing here at this time?”
“I thought it would be nice to cook everyone dinner, as a way to repay you for your previous invitation.” You bowed in front of them politely, “I hope it’s not too much to ask to use your kitchen.”
Shigure waved his hand, “that would be fine! You sure did come at a perfect time!”
“I see, I had no idea Sohma-san had a brother.” You commented, turning around to the kitchen and opening your basket to reveal several containers. There were several filets of salmon that you recently purchased from the store that was marinated after you came back from your shift. They were a nice color already from the amount of time they slept in the marinade, if you had soaked the salmon in the miso for too long, it would become extremely salty.
“What are you making?” Kyo peered over your shoulder as you unlocked the lid. You took out the apron you brought with you and tied it around your back, securing it with a knot.
“Miso salmon, I heard in class you were not fond of miso, so I made a separate filet,” You replied, “it’s a bit simple.”
“That’s fine, I’ve always been interested in your cooking ever since the other girls said you were great at it,” The orange-haired classmate grinned before making his way back to the table, “you better not put chives in it!”
“Could you be any pickier?” Yuki rolled his eyes while Kyo stood up defensively, trying to explain that chives were probably the devil’s creation.
“It would be nice to have (Y/n)-kun cook for us as well! Two beautiful girls!” Shigure swooned, “a dream come true!”
“I hope you don’t get arrested,” Yuki groaned.
“Are you jealous of (Y/n)-kun cooking skills Yuki-kun? You are quite clumsy with your hands and last time when you tried to coo—”
“Could we not talk about that?” He snapped back, “I’m starting to get better.”
“That’s good Sohma-san.” You commented, “practice always helps with improving yourself. I wasn’t very good at cooking at the start either.” You roughly chopped up the vegetables while multitasking, engaging yourself in the conversation.
“It’s good news to hear that you’re still trying.” You smiled, causing Yuki to turn his head away as his cheeks began to flush.
Yuki vividly remembers the day the two of you shared a quiet moment on the rooftop, his cheeks beginning to burn a hotter temperature at the thought. He wonders if you still have the drawing the two of you made together.
Shigure hummed, “you’ve been much closer to Yuki-kun lately, did you two do something together?”
You casually shrugged, pushing the vegetables onto their own separate bowl as a side dish. “Not really.”
There was a brief pause of silence before hearing someone’s stomach growl. Kyo groaned in response while flipping himself over onto the floor.
“Don’t worry, it’ll be done soon.” You replied, specifically to his growling stomach. “Where did Tohru-kun go with Sohma-san’s brother?”
Yuki sighed in annoyance, the feeling of exhaustion directed towards his older brother, “he decided to take Honda-san out to eat at the nearby restaurant.”
“I see. . .” You didn’t know exactly how to respond, you were an only child after all and you didn’t have anyone to talk to in your younger days. Although you went to the same middle school as Yuki, you both hadn’t crossed paths until you became part of the committee for the first year of high school.
“How would you describe your brother, Sohma-san?” You flipped over the salmon that was beginning to crisp up slightly in the pan. It was starting to smell really good.
“He’s annoying, perverted, and most of all strange.” Yuki responded, feeling his blood almost begin to boil at the thought, “makes me wonder how we are even related.”
“He sounds quite interesting,” you moved the cooking the non-miso salmon for Kyo.
“No, he is quite the opposite.” Yuki retorted, flipping through the pages of his book.
You carefully plated each of the dishes onto the plates before making your way over to the table. You remember making this recipe in class and just happened to remember it earlier in the day. The smell of salmon and miso filled the room while there was a neatly scooped ball of rice in a small bowl.
“Dinner is ready.” You announced, tucking in your legs underneath you as you sat down with them.
“Oh! Smells good!” Shigure clapped his hands, already holding onto the chopsticks in between his fingers as he smiled. “Do you normally cook like this at home?”
You scratched your cheek awkwardly, “not very often. I take home leftovers from work.”
You were surprised on the inside. You never knew how inviting the Sohma family was until you decided to open the doors. You’ve wallowed up in your own concerns to realize the number of people who also needed help. You gripped the edge of your skirt as the rest of them prayed.
You really didn’t want to think about your own problems, not when you are doing so well at trying to be with others.
“Thank you for the meal.” Everyone said, their chopsticks digging into the meal as they ate.
Yuki eyed you from the other side of the table. Your noticeable change in behavior was quite obvious to him. He wondered if the meeting with Akito changed your perception of things, or if it was the day you heard him cry.
Even at school, you made an effort to address your fans. You would write in your journal less and focus heavily on talking with other people. He felt as if you were forcing yourself to talk to others despite the change in tone. Even though there was that lingering feeling, he can’t deny the fact that you almost look content with what you were doing.
You were simply distracting yourself from your own problems by helping others.
You knew you may not be the best at wording the things you say, and you aren’t the best at being someone’s friend, but you were trying. You felt as if actions spoke more than words could, and that by being able to communicate with people you might even find your own happiness in theirs. It could be wishful thinking, trying to comfort others when you couldn’t even take care of your own self, but the way Yuki’s eyes stared back at you like a reflection in the mirror, you couldn’t bear to see someone like that.
No one else should suffer from your eyes.
You brushed back a few strands of your hair as you quietly ate your food, listening to Shigure talk about his latest book and editor. You wondered if the chance of pace made you easier to talk to. Aikyo told you a couple of days ago that you looked much brighter than you did when she first saw you.
“I’m home!” Tohru’s voice echoed in the halls before turning to see everyone seated at the table, nearly finished with the food. “Oh! (Y/n)-kun, you came over today!”
“Yes. I thought you would be here as well, but I was told you went out to eat. There is an extra salmon filet in the fridge for you to eat later if you ever feel hungry.” You responded, wiping at your lips with a napkin as you placed your chopsticks on top of your bowl.
It didn’t seem like Yuki’s brother came home with her, there didn’t look like there was anyone other than Tohru who came back. You narrowed your eyes at the sight of her holding a stack of clothes and shoes in her hand.
“Tohru-kun, why do you have someone else’s clothes?” You asked.
Tohru began to stutter as the rest of the group went cold, “a-ah! I-I went to the store to buy some!”
You nodded, not really understanding the reason behind her nervousness but decided to overlook it. You noticed that there seemed to be a wiggling creature underneath her actual clothes, the unknown figure slithering close to her neck. You quickly stood up and walked towards Tohru who began to sweat profusely.
“Y-Yes? W-What’s wrong (Y/n)-kun?” Tohru nervously stuttered.
You reached out to her neck and pulled out an albino snake. She squealed in surprise, almost as if she had been caught red-handed. The snake slithered around your arm but you slowly maneuvered it to stay near your hand.
“I’m surprised you didn’t notice this snake Tohru-kun.” You carefully opened up the snake’s mouth to examine its fangs, “it doesn’t seem to be venomous. It might just be a harmless snake, but you should be careful next time when you’re walking home.”
Yuki and Kyo sweatdropped, trying not to say anything that could alarm your suspicions of this mysterious snake. They both knew exactly who it was, but they were lucky the contact with you and him was enough to not transform back. The two of them never knew that you were so calm in the face of a possibly dangerous animal, then again, the only time Yuki has ever seen you look a bit flustered was the time he asked for your phone number.
“An albino snake. . . I haven’t seen one in person before.” You gently guided the snake and stroked at its cheek with your finger, the animal curling up on your arm as to embrace your warm skin. It nuzzled against your finger while its body continued to wiggle around you. It seemed content on staying with you.
“O-Oh. . . Do you like snakes (Y/n)-kun?” Shigure cleared his throat.
“Hm. . .” You hummed, “I think they’re interesting.”
Unbeknownst to the group, the white snake was stuck in a predicament. While your body was extremely warm and soft, almost like cuddling a pillow, your eyes looked predatory. He was struggling with the two inner sides of his head, one that wanted to stay in a warm environment or run away from you. This was a very dangerous situation as some eagles were known to consume snakes.
You felt Yuki pull the snake away from you and handed it over to Kyo who stood by Tohru’s side. “(L/n)-san, why don’t I guide you to the bathroom, the snake might be a bit dirty.”
“Sure.” You absentmindedly let Yuki drag you towards the bathroom for girls while Kyo and Shigure dealt with the snake.
He carefully pushed you in and instructed you to wash with soap before closing the bathroom door. Yuki waited outside to stand guard for you. His headache would surely grow if his older brother found out that he was friends with another girl other than Tohru, he might say something embarrassing to you.
He heard the faint sound of the familiar explosion as his flamboyant brother called out to him from the other room.
“Sohma-san, what was that noise?” You asked, feeling slightly concerned as it sounded similar to the one from the school festival, “was that an explosion?”
“No! Don’t worry about it, the neighbors must be lighting fireworks.” He replied, trying not to stutter. You raised your eyebrows but didn’t comment on it any further.
You awkwardly rubbed at your skin with soap while checking your appearance in the mirror. It seems as if the dark spots under your eyes have worsened, but it wasn’t enough to warrant a response or comment from others. You might be able to fix it with light makeup. You washed your face before knocking on the door to alert Yuki you had finished.
“Sohma-san, did your brother come home?”
Yuki opened the door to reveal your washed-up form, your skin slightly glowing underneath the light.
“It appears so.” He sighed before taking you back to the table where his white-haired brother sat.
He had long, flowy white hair that reached to his back. His eyes were much different from Yuki’s, it was a bit familiar to the snake you just touched earlier. He certainly did look like an older version of Yuki.
You politely bowed down in front of him, “it’s nice to meet you, I’m (L/n) (Y/n), Sohma-san’s classmate from school.”
He appears to be quite interested in your appearance as he placed his hand under in chin in a thinking position. He always thought Tohru looked pretty but you seemed to be more of a model. You had nice (s/c) skin that was warm to the touch and soft. Your (h/c) hair framed your face nicely as you peered up to him with your sharp gaze, possibly one that could freeze the room.
“So you’re my precious little brother’s friend! Nice to meet you, I am Sohma Ayame!” He flamboyantly announced, swinging his arms above his head to emphasize his words, “do you mind coming over to my store?!”
“Huh?” He grabbed onto your hand while tilting your chin up, your eyes meeting up with his golden orbs.
“You and Yuki can come over together!” He eagerly asked, his eyes sparkled brightly as he smiled in anticipation of your response. Yuki could feel his annoyance boil at an extreme temperature, almost like a kettle was about to burst.
“Um. . .” You didn’t know what you were supposed to say. This was your first time meeting someone as energetic as Ayame and you didn’t know exactly how to handle this sort of attention. “Sure. . . ?”
“Splendid!” He twirled you around, “I will write down the address so you can visit it over the weekend! Be sure to bring my wonderful and amazing younger brother!”
“H-Hey!” Yuki pulled you away from Ayame, “you’re pressuring her into this. Besides, aren’t you already busy this weekend?”
Ayame gasped in horror, “you’re right! But I will always make time for you Yuki! Nothing could come between our love. . .”
“Could you try not to get arrested?!”
You awkwardly stood in the middle of them, your mind completely blank at the scene unfolding in front of you. Yuki and Ayame bickered back and forth, one trying to convince the other to leave and one desperately trying to rekindle the brotherly love lost in the snow.
They sure are lively, you thought. Despite how dysfunctional their family was, or how many times they argued and disagreed, they always seem to come together in the end.
You found it quite strange yet familiar.
“Honey, it’ll be okay.” Your father comforted your mother as she wept in the other room.
“Of course it’s not okay?! Have you seen her?!” She screamed, curling up into a ball as your father pulled her into his arms. She rejected his advancements by shoving him back, knocking over some of the ceramics which decorated the halls. “She-Our daughter, she’s gone! Replaced by someone I don’t even know!”
“How can you stand to look at her?! (F/n)?!” Before she could pull her hand back, he quickly grabbed onto her and steadied themselves. “Let me go!”
“She’s the devil I tell you! She’s cursed!” She screamed.
“Calm down (M/n)!” He shouted back, “breathe for me honey, it’ll be fine, you’ll be fine.”
Your mother stifled her cries as she felt her arms and legs become weak, her fragile body dropping to the floor. The tears in her eyes dropped to the wooden floor like the rain from darkened clouds. Your father knelt down by her side, wiping away at the tears which pooled in her eyes as she sobbed pitifully.
“It’s okay. We can get through this together.” He whispered, bringing the two of them into another attempt at an embrace.
You yearned for someone to tell you the same words as well.
You unconsciously blinked away the small tears in the corner of your eye, but still wiped at your face with the back of your hand. Your lips formed a frown as you quickly gathered up the dishes quietly, the two brothers still bickering in the background as you made your way to the sink. Tohru watched as you slowly washed each of the dishes, still not making any sort of comment to the situation.
She looks lonely. . . Tohru didn’t quite understand what was going on in your life. She noticed your more cheery side during the week but couldn’t help but feel as if you were still unhappy. You seemed so exhausted every time she sees you outside of school, the dark circles under your eyes never went unnoticed by her.
Could it be that you were trying to make yourself look happy? She wondered. She noticed that you rarely ever talk about yourself, always contributing to the conversation with a surface idea but never elaborating any further. It was almost as if she didn’t know you at all. She didn’t know what was your favorite color, or what your favorite animal was, all the basic information a friend would know, but she doesn’t have that. She only knows little bits of what you said, you work at a cafe, you live in a singular apartment, and you are an only child.
Did you have a rough life with your own parents as well? Tohru always wondered why your parents never came to school meetings, why they never came to school events, they never showed up in your life at all. When it came to field trip permissions, you were always the last to turn in your slip despite being one of the top students in the school. When the Home Economics teacher asked the class to make your parents favorite dish, you stood there with nothing, it was almost as if you didn’t even know what your parents liked. It was the first project you ever failed in Home Economics. She remembers this event clearly as the teacher scolded you after class, concern written over her eyes as she tried to confront you about your own family life.
Tohru knew it was wrong to eavesdrop, but she couldn’t help but hear that you say that you don’t know anything about your parents.
You stared at the dishes with gloomy eyes, wiping at the surface with soap and sponge, watching as the bubbles formed and disappeared into the black hole of the sink. The sounds of another person’s footsteps came to your side as you turned to them. Tohru smiled at you before grabbing another dirty plate and beginning to wash it with the other sponge.
“(Y/n)-kun. . . Is there something on your mind. . .?” She asked, your eyes widening for a split second before reverting itself to its original doleful look.
“. . . No, I’m fine Tohru-kun.” You gave her a smile, the sides of your cheek beginning to hurt. “You don’t have to worry about me.”
You scrubbed at the stain on the plate, Tohru still watching as your smile drooped down slightly, the pain still evident on your face yet you were trying to cling onto the fact that you were fine. You placed the dish onto the clean rack and reached out to the last one, only for it to be swiped away from you by Tohru.
“If something is bothering you, you could always tell me (Y/n)-kun.” She washed the plate with a genuine smile, “I’m here to listen.”
You froze in place, your surroundings being drowned out by the sound of your static heartbeat.

One month, that’s how long it had been since you moved to Japan.......it felt longer than that...
You and Kyo had kept to the agreement, pretending the other doesn’t exist.
It sucked.
You felt like you must have caught some sort of virus or something because you always felt like you had a chill even though it was pretty warm outside, and you just had no appetite. Your family had asked what was wrong multiple times, but you insisted that you were just trying to adjust to your new life.
It wasn’t a complete lie
And what’s worse is that you kept staring at the red string and slightly following it to Kyo’s pinkie. You couldn’t do this anymore. You felt like you could shatter at any moment.
I need space. Even catching a glance of him hurts.
You made a note to visit the main office at the end of the day, there was no way you were going to spend the rest of the school year in the same class as Kyo Sohma. You were barely able to pay attention in class, and your notes were a mess.
Unfortunately, everyone in the class could feel the tension would, and it made you feel worse, you didn’t want to bother people with your problems. You also didn’t want the embarrassment of having them know about you and Kyo.
“I’m home....”
“Welcome home, honey. Look what I picked up; there was a sale at the boutique.” Your mother shoved a bag of various pastel nail polish colours, you picked out a pretty orange colour and then put it back.
“Thank Mom...”
“Maybe we could paint our nails together?”
“Sure, I’m just really tired right now, I’m gonna lay down, maybe after dinner?”  You excused yourself and disappeared into your small bedroom, not being heard from for the rest of the night.
.
.
New day, same old, same old.
Kyo wasn’t feeling all that well, his body felt like it was being weighed down by stones and he couldn’t sleep. He was already known for being fun to tease, but his temper had shifted. Kyo had become slightly more aggressive, losing his temper over the smallest of things and had even had detention over snapping a broom in half.
Tohru watched her friends with worry, something had happened between the two, but they kept denying. (Y/N) insisted it was nothing while Kyo told her it was none of her business. That comment had caused Yuki to kick him clear across the room, but Kyo hadn’t backed down, perfectly happy to take out his frustration in a fight.
The kind girl felt at a loss with the orange-haired boy, the more she tried to help, the more he snapped. This divide had caused her to kind of remove herself from the situation but also spent more time (Y/N).
She introduced the new girl to Momiji and Hatsuharu, who were very welcoming to her, and they’d even spent a lot of lunches together. Unfortunately, this somehow led to a fight between Kyo and Hatsuharu and ‘black’ Haru came out. It was a mess, and it had made (Y/N) keep her distance from the Sohma family in general.
It was a shame because Tohru found (Y/N) to be a kind and outgoing girl who was open to all the new things Tohru and her friend showed her. She was so lovely and just had an overall kind energy, plus she was pretty funny. But something was wrong. Even Tohru could see her new friend had dropped the weight in the few weeks she had known her, and it caused her to worry.
“SO what’s carrot top’s issue anyway? Did you do something to piss him off?” Uo asked as the girls finished up lunch around Tohru’s desk. Uo was gesturing to the boy who was glaring daggers at them over the top of the comic book he was reading while Tohru was trying to share her lunch with (Y/N).
She insisted she had a big breakfast and said she wasn’t hungry.
In response to Uo’s question, which had been asked before, (Y/N) said she had never met Kyo before, and his attitude was just as much a shock to her that it was to them.
“Maybe I remind him of someone he hates.” (y/n) just shrugged as she sipped her water.
“I believe it might have to do with a strin-” Hana started to say but was interrupted by (Y/N).
“Anybody want anything from the vending machine?!?! Anything? Anything at all? My treat!” (Y/N) leapt up, and Tohru insisted she was fine while Uo and Hana told the new student what they wanted.
“Poor thing..” Hana muttered as the girls watched (Y/N) scurry out of the room.
“What do you mean, Hana-Chan?” Tohru asked, turning her attention to her friend.
“It’s not mine to tell... but she’s hurting. Fate is cruel, and her waves have become... empty and cold.” Tohru felt that Hana knew more than she was letting on but wasn’t sure if it was her place to ask. But if there was one thing she knew, it was that Hana’s wave reports were never false.
If Hana said that (y/n) was in pain, then Tohru felt there had to be something. Anything.
(Y/n) wasn’t the only one who needed help.
Tohru had noticed Kyo staring at (Y/N) these past weeks... The brunette had not been paying attention in class like she should and instead had spent her time looking back and forth between her new friend and Kyo. She noticed how Kyo would stare at her, but it... Tohru found it hard to explain, but there seemed to be a deep sadness in his eyes. But there was also longing, and then he would catch Tohru staring and glare before hiding his face.
Kyo was hurting too. But why?
“Hey! Kyon! You’re not being very subtle, stop acting like a kindergartner, if you have a crush or something, tell her rather than be a bully.” Uo scolded him, not impressed with how he was treating the newest girl to her crew.
“Wha- I Do not! Fuck off.” The boy snapped at the blonde girl, and to Uo, those were fighting words.
The two bickered back and forth, but Tohru didn’t intervene, she was trying to think of a plan. There just had to be some sort of misunderstanding. And she also had to make sure (y/n) ate something with her own eyes.
“Ah! I know!” Tohru clapped her hands, happy with her idea. It was simple, but she was sure it would help.
The door slid open, and there stood (Y/N) and Yuki with drinks from the vending machine in hand. (Y/N) stared at Uo and Kyo, who were still yelling at each other, and she raised an eyebrow.
“Soo... I’m not the only one he doesn’t get along with.” (Y/N) tried to joke as she strained a smile. Yuki shook his head at the comment and gave her his own smile, hoping to make the new student feel a little more comfortable.
“He’s an idiot (L/N)-San, like I said, just ignore him.” Yuki comforted (Y/N), he even laid a hand on her shoulder, and she tried to smile back.
Kyo’s orange eyes snapped to the two in the doorway and seeing the two together, so close just... he hated it.
“What did you say, ya damn rat!” Kyo yelled and approached the two, and his angry demeanour made (Y/N) hide slightly behind Yuki, clearly scared of Kyo and not wanting to have any more of his wrath on her.
There was only so much a person could take and (y/n) was at her tipping point.
This time, it was Kyo’s heart that felt like it cracked. He stared at her, she was looking at him, sorrow filled her eyes. She hadn’t looked like the first time she saw. No. Her eyes had been beaming with joy and hope, a smile on her face the first time she realized who he was.
Now.. Of course, she was looking at him differently. He had done nothing but snap at her and push her away, and he got what he wanted. (y/n) had been ignoring him and leaving him alone.
So why was he so pissed off?
He grabbed Yuki by his tie and pulled him forward. For some reason, he was more pissed off than usual.
“Stay away from her.” Kyo snarled at his rival. Yuki would never admit it, but this threat was different somehow, and he felt a small twinge of fear towards Kyo.
The orange-haired boy looked again at (Y/N), who now standing with the girls, that damn broken-hearted look in her eyes.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this.
He pushed Yuki away and stormed off. He had enough. Kyo couldn’t look at that face anymore.
Kyo ran to the only one he felt would hear him out, taking off his shoes as he entered the Dojo.
Maybe Shishou could tell him what to do.
“Kyo, you’re here early. Half-day at school?” His father figure asked as moved some equipment around, Kyo quickly jumped in to take the stuff from his hands.
“Kind of.”
“We can spar before everyone shows up, are you up for it?”
“Sure...”
Kazuma tilted his head, Kyo was usually always so fired up for training, but he had noticed that something was off these past few weeks. His energy had fallen as if it been raining, but the skies were clear.
The orange-haired boy disappeared to the changing rooms, and Kazuma waited, all while wondering what was up with the boy.
It didn’t take long for the karate master to land a hit on Kyo, and since he wasn’t paying attention or kept himself grounded, he went flying into a wall, crashing into some training equipment.
“Kyo!” Kazuma rushed forward to check on him, not realizing that whatever was bothering had left him this bad.
“It hurts...”
“Tell me where it hurts.”
Surprisingly, the teenager clutched the fabric around his chest.
“I thought- I thought I was doing the right thing... but it hurts...and I..” Kyo looked at the red thread around his finger.
Was she hurting like this? He had been watching her and couldn’t but notice that it looked like she had lost weight, and her smile was beginning to dim.
Am I causing her more pain?
The karate master looked at Kyo’s eye line, and he was staring at fate’s string once more. Through the years, Kazuma had noticed Kyo looking at the string often when he was younger, they used to talk about it when he was a child. But as he got older, the topic made him angry and would often shut down when it was brought up. In fact, it had been years since Kazuma caught Kyo looked at his pinkie.
“Kyo? Is this about... Your soul mate?” Kazuma ventured.
Kyo gritted his teeth and nodded.
“So you found them?”
“.... I tried to do the right thing.” Kyo said so quietly that Kazuma barely caught it.
“Which was?”
“I pushed her away...” He admitted, and Kazuma knew Kyo well and envisioned that his adopted son had probably lost his temper on her or something of that likeness.
Kazuma let out a sigh and lightly grabbed the boy’s shoulder, giving it a squeeze.
“Let’s talk over some tea.” He suggested and helped Kyo to his feet, and the boy mindlessly followed Kazuma to the kitchen space in the Dojo.
“Tell me about her?” Kazuma asked as he put on the kettle, which was still hot from someone previously using it.
The air was silent for a bit, the kettle softly whistling till Kazuma took it off the heat and poured the hot water into a pot.
Kyo didn’t speak till Kazuma joined him at the low table.
“I don’t know much...” Kyo admitted, feeling guilty that he knew so little, and yet you only sat a few desks away.
“Well tell me what you do know.”
“She’s annoying....”
Kazuma couldn’t help but chuckle because what else did he really expect from the boy.
“And?”
“She plays with her hair... always tucking it behind her ear and she has this silly cartoon bear on her backpack, plus she giggles at the teacher’s stupid cheesy jokes. And wears these stupidly cute strawberry earrings....” Kyo crossed his arms and started his rant. Kazuma had to bite the inside of his cheek to keep him from laughing.
“She got the Yankee into something called Doja Cat, and now they listen to music together...And in math, she’s always sticking her tongue out when working on a problem it’s super weird.” The teenager huffed.
“Sounds like you know her pretty well.” Kazuma pointed out as he poured Kyo a cup of tea and slid it over to him.
While they hadn’t spoken in the last month, that didn’t stop Kyo from keeping an eye on her. Tohru was friends with (y/n), which made it easier to learn about her. He knew that she lived with her mother and her parents that she liked strawberries and cream, and was excited to go try a karaoke room.
He knew that she was meant for him, even without looking at the string that connected them. Every time he looked at her, he could feel his heart leap, and the need to bury himself in her was always present, to completely lose himself in her eyes, her smile.
“She’s way too nice and sweet. All these perverted boys in class keep trying to talk to her and she’s too dense to realize that they’re hitting on her and it just kills me...” Kyo admitted, glaring at the steaming cup of tea,
“It kills you?”
“Yeah because when she finally figures out that they’re hitting on her, she’ll probably go out with one of the bastards and then-”
Kyo cut himself off as he really realized what could happen.
He envisioned a boy asking HIS soul mate out, them going on cute dates and holding hands and eventually, she would be far from his reach, in the arms of another man while thinking Kyo hated her.
No. No, no, no.
Kyo thought he was going to be sick, and it felt like the red string was not only straining around his finger but his throat, and it felt agonizingly tight.
It wasn’t fair, why give him a soul mate if he was cursed.
“Kyo?”
Fat tears ran down the boy’s face, but he was quick to cover his face with his hands, wishing he could run away and hide, but his father figure was quick to rush over and gave him a firm hug.
Kyo’s mind was utterly and thoroughly haunted by her. He wanted to know how she was doing, if she was happy in her new home if (y/n) would like to go on walks in the forest, stargaze on the roof, what kind of food did she like. He wanted nothing more than to know her and love her.
To be her’s. To love her and be loved.
But it was too late. Kyo had made his bed, and he was prepared to sleep in it. Right?
“I’m sure if you explained yourself a little. I’m certain she would let you into her life.”
“You’ll always be my troublesome son, I’m sure the universe gifted you with some who would love you through it all.”
“.. I’ve gotta go.”
.
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
This day felt like it had on for eternity.
Even if he hated you, you worried about him. Where had he gone? Was he okay?
Kyo seemed to have quite the temper, and you only have seen him be a jerk, and your brain was telling you to stay as far away and not bother with him at all.
But your heart? Well, it was just a mess and wanted nothing more than to look at him and touch him and-
Get a hold of yourself... it’s not gonna happen.
Letting out a heavy sigh, you packed up your bag and was about to say goodbye to Tohru, but she stopped you from leaving.
“Umm (L/N)-Chan, would you like to come over for dinner?” The girl asked, a slightly nervous look on her face.
Maybe she’s shy about having friends over?
“I’ll text my Mom, but I’m sure it’ll be fine.” you answered, maybe it would help you take your mind off of your red string and the boy at the other end.
“Oh, but first, I gotta stop by the principal’s office.” You mentioned, there was still one last thing that might help make this whole ‘rejected by your soul mate’ thing a little easier. And maybe it would make Kyo happy too.
Two birds’ one stone, I guess.
“Why?” She asked.
“I’m gonna ask to transfer classes-”
“What! No!” She cut you off.
“Tohru I can’t go to class like this, he...” You didn’t finish the sentence, but Tohru knew who you were thinking
I don’t want to make things hard for Kyo either...
“Just.. One more day, please?” She asked as she held her hands together in a prayer position, her large brown eyes staring you down.
“.....fine.” Luckily for Tohru, you were a sucker for puppy dog eyes.
Not that another day is going to make that much of a difference.....
.
The walk was nice, but you were surprised to learn the Yuki was also walking with them; apparently, Tohru had started living with the Sohma’s due to some family... issues.
Soon they came to a beautiful traditional home, secluded deep in the forest.
Should I be worried?
“We’re home!” Tohru called out as she removed her shoes, and Yuki closed the front door behind them.
“Welcome home, you two. Oh and whose the cute girl? Yuki’s girlfriend.” An older handsome man wearing a kimono greeted you as you walked into the home.
“Our new classmate, please don’t be weird, Shigure.” Yuki commented and then turned to you.
“(L/n)-San, please don’t be afraid to tell me if Shigure acts out of line.” He insisted as he gave you one of his polite smiles, Shigure was very handsome, but every time he smiled, you found it a bit off-putting.
“Yukiii! Why are you so mean, you’re painting an awful picture of me.” The adult whined as he wiggled in his seat, and you couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at the strange behaviour.
“You’re doing a fine job yourself.” Yuki pointed out as he rolled his eyes.
You held a hand to the man to shake his hand, trying to maybe not be too judgmental. You were sure he was just an eccentric being.
He held your hand softly and laid a kiss on it.
“Always honoured to meet one of Yuki’s classmates, especially the pretty ones.” He ‘flirted’ and you laughed nervously.
You felt a strange sensation on your pinky and looked down to see it moving a bit.
“Huh?”
You heard a stomping sound throughout the house, and there was a rough opening of the porch sliding door.
Bright, saffron eyes stared into yours, and you felt your heart skip a beat. Kyo was here, and he moved his eyes down to where your hand was being held in Shigure’s.
“Get. Your Hands. Off of her.” He growled, and before Shigure could do as he was told, Kyo reached over and grabbed your forearm. You were ripped out of the man’s grasp and were dragging you out of the house and into the forest.... without your shoes.
“Wait, hold on!” You tried to stop him but he continued to drag you through the forest.
Did he hate you that much, that he was dragging you out of the house himself...
He didn’t say anything to your protests, and finally... you just couldn’t do it and dug your heels into the ground and ripped your arm out of his grasp.
“ENOUGH!!! I don’t want you to hate me... so I can switch school and you won’t have to see me anymore... I’ll leave you alone, I promise, but please... stop...” You didn’t want to avoid him but... if he was this adamant about not knowing you that he was skipping school... maybe this was the best thing you could do for him.
All you had ever wanted was a soul mate, to meet them and just... have someone genuinely need you. To have what your childhood friend had found. The love that your grandparents had. You were envious of them because...Now that you knew who your soul mate was and how against you he was... you honestly wished you could cut your hand off and let him be free of you.
Was I not worth loving?
“...Dammit.. Don’t cry..” He begged as he tried to figure out what to say next.
You kept bawling, despite his pleas not too until finally, he placed an awkward hand on top of your head, petting your head as he tried to put together a sentence.
“It’s.. It’s not that I hate you... I don’t... it’s just-- unfair to you to have me... as a soul mate.”
Your cries had turned to sniffles, which he used the sleeve of his shirt to wipe away and then you gave a few hiccups.
“Why?”
“I- My family.. It’s complicated.”
“How so?” You sniffled, the flow of tears getting slower.
He looked like there was so much he had to say, but he clenched his fist and turned to the side, glaring at the grass. It was easy to see that he was struggling with something. But you didn’t want him to turn you away. Not again.
“Please... I wanna know. I want to know you, more than anything. I’ve waited my whole life to meet you!” You tried to make him understand, and you reached out for his hand, and his beautiful orange eyes looked into yours.
Your heart felt like it was going to beat out of your chest.  Kyo had the softest look in his eyes, you wanted to spend the rest of your life learning about him and looking upon those bright eyes.
Then you remembered his reaction at first seeing you. How scared he was. A mixture of hurt and anger in his eyes. So maybe he really didn’t want you...
But... if he didn’t want to... then maybe you had to let go...
You released the hold on his hand, letting it slip out of your grasp, staring at the string on your pinkie. You had once looked at his with such hope. Now it seemed like a joke. Before your hand could fully slip from his, Kyo grabbed hold of you.
“Don’t.... freak out, okay?” He asked, and before you could answer him, he had wrapped his arms around you. Enveloping you in a comforting smell of freshly cut grass and something else you couldn’t quite place.
Home. That’s what it felt like. A place that you could always go to.
But it disappeared before you could blink, and you were surrounded in a mist of orange smoke and that arms that were holding you were gone.
Coughing a few times, you swatted at the smoke to make it dissipate while calling for Kyo.
“I’m down here....” You heard his voices and looked down. The clothes Kyo had been wearing were strewn on the ground and sitting on top of them was an orange cat, watching you with familiar eyes.
“...... hello?” You asked the cat, wondering where it had come from.
The cat let out an irritated sigh.
Wait? Can cats sigh?
“Do NOT freak out.” The cat spoke.... with Kyo’s voice.
A shrill scream filled the forest.
You immediately knelt down on the ground, partly from your legs giving way and the other you wanted to get a closer look.
“Ky--Kyo? Are you okay? I’m so sorry! What do I do? Do you need a doctor? I didn’t mean to!? I don’t know what - Are you alright? Are you hurt?” You were babbling and Kyo, the cat, hissed making you stop and then he took a breath.
He explained his family story, the cursed members of the family and the Chinese Zodiac and how they transformed when they embraced the opposite sex. There seemed to be something else he wanted to say, but he kept it in.
“THIS is why... I shouldn’t have a soul mate. So if you wanna walk away, then I get it..” He was staring at the ground, his cat ears flattened to his head.
You were still trying to process all he had told you, but him looking so sad what was truly made your heart start to crack.
You reached out, and you picked him and held him close to your chest, gently hugging him as you didn’t want to harm his small body.
“I still don’t really understand... but I want to. I hope you don’t mind having me as a soul mate because... I know I don’t want to go another day without knowing you.” You told him, and you could have sworn you felt him purring, vibrating against your chest.
“Plus. I love cats!” You gushed as you held him out and smiled at him. He made a ‘tch’ sound and looked to the side, but you could have sworn you saw a small blush on his cat face.
You placed him down, and he did a little stretch.
“Sooo... how do you turn ba-” Before you could finish your question, there was a loud popping sound and orange smoke filled the area.
Standing before was Kyo back in his human form.... naked.
Your eyes raked over his chest, he clearly worked out... and your eyes travelled down.
“YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO LOOK AWAY!” He yelled, his face red from embarrassment or anger, you weren’t sure.
“SORRY!” you’re entire face bloomed red and you finally scrambled to turn around and covered your face with your hands; you could hear your own heartbeat pulsing rapidly and prayed that your soul mate couldn’t hear it.
While Kyo changed back into his clothes, you tried to arrange your thoughts. You could now see why Kyo was apprehensive about meeting you.
A family curse that keeps him from being able to hug you. How cruel...You imagined that he was also scared of you rejecting him for his curse. You weren’t the only one who had feared rejection.
“Come on, pervert, let’s go back.” A small pat on your head brought you out your thoughts.
“I-! I’m not a pervert!” You defended yourself as you looked up at him, and he rolled his eyes and smirked at your glowing red face.
“Sure.”
“I’m not!” And he just laughed, and your heart skipped a beat. He held out his hand to you, you tried to glare at him for laughing at you, but you imagined it came out pretty weak. Your hand took hold of his, and he pulled up from the ground.
Is it silly to think about how perfect my hand fits in his?
The walk back to the house was pretty quiet, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. When you made it back, Tohru was eagerly waiting on the porch and gave a big smile at your return.
“Oh? Kyo’s growing up so fast! His first girlfriend. I never knew you were into foreign girls, Kyo-Kyo.” Teased the dark-haired man you had been introduced to before but couldn’t remember his name.
Kyo stood in front of you, blocking your view. Or maybe he was blocking the man’s view of you.
“Keep your damn eyes away from her, shithead.” Kyo nearly growled, and then he turned to you.
“If he does anything, you let me know, and I’ll kick his ass.” He mentioned as if it was nothing, and you could hear the man whining about Kyo being cruel.

Dinner had come and gone, it was surprising how easily the new friend just seemed to fit right in. Though Tohru made it easy to make the girl feel welcomed.
Kyo watched as the girl at the other end of his red string spoke excitedly with Tohru about the differences between her home and Japan while they drank tea.
“So you found her, huh?” Shigure asked quietly as he cooled himself off with a blue paper fan.
“It’s none of your business...”
“I’m happy for you.”
“Tch”
Kyo still had a lot to think about. (Y/N) just thought that him changing into the cat was the whole curse, but there was still a lot she didn’t know.
(Y/N) laughed at something Tohru said and then looked over at Kyo, smiling, and Kyo felt his heart skip a beat.
“Did you really crash through the roof of Tohru’s room?” She asked, and Kyo groaned.
“It was fine, though! No one got hurt!” Tohru insisted, now worrying that she had embarrassed Kyo in front of Y/N.
“Alright! Enough. We’re outta here.” Kyo grabbed the girl before anyone else could tell her embarrassing stories and led her out of the house.
She called out a goodbye to the household, thanking them for having her and thanking Tohru for the delicious dinner.
“I’m walking you home.” Kyo told you as he slipped on his shoes.
“I don’t want to trouble you or-”
“It’s gonna be dark soon, okay?! But don’t get used to it.” Kyo told you as he again took you by the hand and led you off.
“.... Do I even want to know?” Yuki asked as he let out a sigh, and Tohru just giggled.
“Oh! I think this means that (y/n)-San might stay in our class!” Tohru remembered what (y/n) had said earlier after school, but hopefully she had changed her mind.
“huh?”
“ah nothing.” Tohru waved her hands frantically as she hoped no one would ask her anything more.
.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
Kyo had let go of your hand when you excited the forested path, and you were slightly leading the way, neither one of you knew what to say, your relationship had taken a 180 in a matter of hours, and it still felt.... strange.
As you walked, you looked over and noticed something the empty red swing set.
“Oh can we? Please?” You were already dragging him over to the empty playground.
“The swings?” Kyo asked as he crossed his arms and watched as you excitedly sat down and smiled up at him.
“Yeah, Just for a bit, please?” You asked, and Kyo rubbed the back of his neck, looking like he was having some sort of internal argument before he let out a puff of air and sat down on the swing beside you.
You pushed yourself off and started swinging back and forth.
When you looked over, you noticed that Kyo was barely moving, just watching you.
“Aw come on. You’ve been on the swings before, right?” You asked as you whizzed past him on the swing.
He just kind of scoffed and looked down, muttering something that you couldn’t quite catch.
You jumped from the swing when it was mid-air and made your way behind Kyo.
“What- What the hell are you doing?” Kyo panicked as you put your hands on his back.
“Just giving you a little push.” You promised and did just as you gently pushed him forward before stepping out the way.
“And you pump your legs to keep it going.” You instructed.
“I- I know how to swing!” Kyo yelled as he awkwardly and little off time swung his legs back and forth to make him go higher. He kind of looked like an angry child as he concentrated on the act at hand, and you couldn’t help but find it endearing to watch as he tried to find a rhythm.
You only smiled and got back onto your own swing, pushing yourself off and enjoying the small rush of the wind flowing your hair back and forth.
Soon you and Kyo were in perfect rhythm as you two enjoyed the swing set.
“Have you ever jumped off a swing?” You asked, remembering a little game you and your friend back home used to play.
“That move you pulled earlier?”
“Yeah. Wanna try?” You asked but be stayed quiet.
“Come on, we’ll make it interesting!” You tried to bait him.
“How so?”
“How about, whoever lands the farthest...... the loser has to buy them something from the vending machine at school tomorrow?” You proposed, and you could see something in his eyes come alive.
“Your on.” Kyo smirked, his competitive side coming out, and you felt a jolt go up your spine.
“Okay... one” You two swung, both smiling in anticipation.
“Two....”
“Three!” And you and Kyo let go of the swings and pushing yourselves forward, hoping to make a somewhat soft landing.
“OOf.” You landed on your feet and then fell back onto the woodchips.
Kyo had also fallen back, but his feet landed a bit ahead of you.
“Huh... I thought cats always landed on their feet.” You couldn’t help it, and he glared back at you.
“Ha Ha, very funny. I won. You owe me a drink.” Kyo said as he got off and dusted himself off.
“Boo, fine.” You accepted defeat, and a hand with a red string attached to the pinkie reached out to you.
“Come on, it’s dark out already.” Kyo asked as he helped you up and held your hand the rest of the way, a comfortable silence falling between you two.
It didn’t take long to walk to where you’re home was, Kyo walked you right to the door of your Grandparent’s apartment.
You fidgeted with your keys as you told him goodbye, nervously tucking a peice of loose hair bhind your ear. A part of you worried that this was all a dream and you would wake up and Kyo would still be glaring at you in class. You thankied him for walking you home and telling Kyo that you’d see him tomorrow and buy him that drink you owed him.
As Kyo looked down at your form, he couldn’t stop the feeling of butterflies flying around in his stomach as he looked from your bright eyes to your lips. He took a deep breath, hoping this wasn’t a mistake.
“Maybe we could have lun-” Kyo cut you off, his hand cradling your face and turning your head up as he leaned in, his lips crashing into yours. Once you realized what was going on, you leaned into him, careful to not make him transform but gripping the front of his shirt as your lips melded with his.
Kyo couldn’t think straight. Everything became hazy, and the only thing in focus was him and you. And Kyo realized that you were the only person that he wanted to kiss for the rest of his life. You were a gift. Kyo wanted to laugh and cry. He felt so lucky he had found, or you had found him, but he was also terrified of losing you.
He wanted forever with you.
When you two parted, you couldn’t help but whisper out a small ‘wow’ and that you were sure that Kyo didn’t hear... but he did and laughed while scratching the back of his neck, a small blush on his cheeks that matched yours. Neither wanted to make the first move to leave, finding warmth in the other presence.
“Night.” Kyo finally gave in as he heard the night crickets and realized how late it had gotten.
“Goodnight, Kyo.” You smiled up at him, and he leaned down again, giving a quick kiss before finally leaving.
You opened your apartment door and as you closed it behind you leant back, holding your bag to your chest as you let out a small squeal. You felt as if you were floating, and the only thing keeping you from flying into the atmosphere was the red string connecting you to the handsome orange-haired boy who had given you your first kiss.
You just looked forward to all the days to come. Even if your soul mate had ‘complications,’ you looked forward to every day you would get with him.
“Welcome home, honey.”
“Hey Mom, can we paint our nails tonight?” You asked, unable to erase the giant smile from your face as you thought of the tangerine orange nail colour that you wanted to get your hands on.
.
.
Kyo had gotten straight to the roof when he had gotten home, looking up at the stars, his heart still hammering in his chest, and his cheeks were starting to hurt from the smile on his face.
The cursed boy knew he would have to put up a fight against his family to make this work, but he felt like a new fire had been lit, and he realized just how much he could miss out on, and he didn’t want to miss out on this chance.
He had grown up glaring at the red string around his pinkie that was on the same hand of his prayer beads as if it was mocking him. But now when he looked at all, he was your face, and it was beautiful, a warm feeling blooming from his chest at the very thought of you and your smile

“...... What the hell.” Uo spoke as she watched (y/n) and Kyo at the vending machine, joking around and smiling as (y/n) put her money in and let Kyo pick something out, they were also standing awfully close.
“Do you know what’s going? Did Kyo finally confess or something.” Uo asked Tohru, who was watching with a huge smile on her face.
“Oh I don’t know! I think it was all just a misunderstanding.” Tohru insisted, pure joy filling through her as she watched her two friends. Yesterday the two seemed so burdened but now they looked like they had little to no care in the world as they walked side by side, their pinkies lightly touching before shyly interlocking.
 A silent promise made between two fated souls.

@kyoruweekofficial Kyoru Week Sunset prompt
It was really sweet of Akito and Shigure to give them such an extravagant wedding present. Instead of the traditional goshugi (money), the couple presented Kyo and Tohru with an all expenses paid, week long vacation in Waikoloa, Hawaii. Of course, Tohru though it was just too much! But Akito insisted on behalf of the entire family, this was the least they could do after all she’d done for them.
The hotel they stayed at was called the Waikoloa Beach Marriott. A beautiful resort with a long white sand beachfront, trails, and restored ancient Hawaiian fish ponds right on the property. They spent their days touring the nearby town of Kona, filled with many little shops, and taking advantage of the full tourist experience. It was a comfortable vacation and the couple was surprised by how much of the Asian culture thrived in the islands. Kyo even joked about moving there and starting up a dojo.
Each new delicacy they tried was an amazing mixture, or what the locals called fusions from the melting pot of cultures to settle there in the islands. Literally on one plate of food you could find something Japanese, Hawaiian, Korean, and American, or maybe Puerto Rican, Hawaiian, Portuguese, or how about Japanese, Chinese, and Italian, the combinations were endless and just so delicious! They were so full after each meal that all they wanted to do was lounge on a beach or sit on their patio in a food coma.
Ever the frugal ones, Tohru did her best not to go too crazy on souvenirs of their trip, but she wanted to make sure she got something small for their family and friends back home. Special trinkets and treats as omiyage gifts to share in their experience. There was a lot to choose from, especially dessert items. Cookies, candies, chocolate covered Kona coffee beans, and tropical teas just to name a few.
But the best part of the whole trip was the sunsets. In Tohru’s research of Kona, their famous sunsets was considered one of the highlights of any Hawaiian getaway and boy were those reviews right! Pictures couldn’t accurately portray just how amazing they were to see in person or the emotions and energy they brought as you behold one.
The way the ocean looked as the sun slowly set along the horizon was like a magical portal opening up to some new dimension. So many hues of every color on the spectrum, blending from one to the next in a perfect painting by some master celestial artist. Turquoise and teal waves frothing into white surge breaks, to the darker navy blue depths beyond the near shore. Baby blues into pinkish-yellow skies are interrupted with fluffy lazy clouds as they passed by. Such softer colors grow darker, more fantastic the lower the sun sets on its trek towards tomorrow. Fiery reds and royal purples, bleeding orange and even flecks of green bursts pulling your eyes in a panoramic span to take it all in.
Hand in hand, in the language of their love, they would walk along the shifting sands with such a beautiful cascade as their background. Kyo’s gentle hold firmly keeping Tohru from drifting too far into its mesmerizing hold or spazzing out on the flash as the sun took its final bow. Of all the memories to take home, she’ll always remember these sunset walks with her lovers arms wrapped around her, and sweet kisses embraced by salty Hawaiian breezes.
