One thing I just don't understand is the people begging showrunners for another season of a show that's clearly reached its logical end. I mean, yeah, of course I get the feeling of not wanting something you've been following and watching since the very beginning to be over, I've been there too. But I also understand that prolonging the show is, most of the time, way worse than just letting it reach its natural conclusion. So many shows have been made worse by their long runtime, the worst example I can think of currently being Riverdale or Dragon Ball. At one point, the plot just gets lost, and you don't know what you're watching anymore. Television is a form of expression, as in; most ppl make stuff, so it can reach other people and mean something. If you take the heart out of it, you end up with something mindlessly endless that's just there for shallow entertainment. You can choose between that, or something that was significant and important but finite. Idk how y'all see it and frankly don't really care, but to me, the latter is worth much more.

Me personally I hate the daddyfication of Spencer Reid.
It just feels like from season 11 they kind of just got on tumblr and saw people were calling Spencer hot and CHANGED HIS WHOLE CHARACTER.
And don’t get me wrong I know that the prison storyline is a reason for the change in his demeanour but honestly it’s kinda weird how they had him become conventionally attractive ( if that’s what a strong man falling for bad girls and throwing away his morals just to make out with a LITERAL unsub and getting mad all the time and talking about killing people all the time, is) only after he was deeply traumatised from literal PRISON.
Idk man early seasons spencer supremacy

A little I Am Not Okay With This rant for the soul :)
I really hate how some people I see online treat Syd like she’s the scum of the earth for what happened with her and Stan's relationship because I highly doubt they have ever experienced what's it's like being a scared, queer teenager. Especially as a teenage girl.
Yes, Syd led Stan on, and yes, it really was a shitty thing to do. But I feel like so many people are missing the big picture. We all know that her finding out that she has powers (especially powers that she can't control) is really stressful for her. But on top of that, she's realizing that not only she's a lesbian, but that she has a crush on her best friend, who is at the time of it happening, VERY taken.
When I found out I was bi, I personally wasn't super affected by it. But that isn't the same for everyone, some kids are absolutely scared shitless when they find out and they feel fucking horrible. There's sometimes a lot of guilt and anger when you find out that you might not be as cishet as you were raised to be. And it doesn't always stick you in perfect situations, like when you're in a relationship with someone of a gender that you're not attracted to.
Syd is also, very obviously, kind of awkward when it comes to social interaction. She's visibly uncomfortable at the party, and it's been mentioned that Dina is the only best friend Syd has ever had. So there isn't exactly a high chance of her being able to know what to do in this type of situation, especially with all the other crazy shit going on in her life.
Another thing is that it's very clear that Dina's friendship is very important to Syd, and as someone who has fallen for their close friends before, you will do anything to keep that friendship in tact. And a for a lot of people that means pushing the romantic feelings down as much as possible. But sometimes things are just out of our control, enter the kiss. You can see in Syd's eyes that she was starting to panic when she realized what she had just done. And then (remember this is before the dance) Dina essentially rejects Syd and tries to brush it off as them just being drunk. Drunk friends. Just friends.
That is a sentence that, from experience, can hurt so much when you have a crush on someone that you're close with. And, naturally, Syd breaks down. She lost control of herself and now has probably lost the most important person in her life. And that person is Dina. And then we get the whole thing with the trees and Stan finding out and blah blah blah.
Moral of my essay/rant/whatever, I fucking hate people who dislike Syd and then use Stan as their excuse. Not because I personally really like Syd, but because they clearly missed everything she has been going through in the whole show and then go on to treat Stan like he has done no wrong (I love Stan he's an great character but the bowling alley scene was really fucked up, don't use other's trauma like that guys, no matter how much you think it will benefit them.) Stan isn't an excuse to hate on another character who is clearly in need of a lot of help. You just didn't watch the fucking show.
(Also, I can see that it sounds like I'm putting Syd on some sort of pedestal, I'm not. There's no perfect characters, just like there's no perfect people. It just really pisses me off when people use uncontrollable flaws as a reason to talk shit about a person.)

So I saw Samantha Bee last night and she was incredible and she had a few bits in her glorious feminist diatribe about her show being unceremoniously canceled and how men get to make all the calls about what entertainment is “successful enough.”
And today is the 1 year anniversary of the CW canceling Batwoman, Legends, Charmed, Naomi, and other things I don’t personally watch but that didn’t deserve that treatment.
I cannot bring myself to start the last seasons of Mrs. Maisel or Working Moms because then that’s just more things that will be over.
I very badly want to watch Rachel Weisz kiss Rachel Weisz but I just don’t have the energy. I’ve considered starting Yellowjackets a million times but I don’t have the energy for that either.
Nothing is fun anymore. I watched the Owl House finale and since then the only thing I have watched is every single fucking season of Project Runway back to back and now I’m mid-season 2 of All Stars.
And there are so many things that matter more than TV shows that I care desperately about but it’s hard to focus on all of the bad shit going on when there’s no breaks to enjoy something fun. To quote my favorite Legend:
“You know, if you make life bleak enough, people become so focused on survival they forget they can revolt.”
Anyone else sick of the blue mush?

Annoyed cos I didn't get to write tonight. Birthdays at work this week means cooking sausage rolls for the team. Which also meant I had to watch shitty tv with my parents while I cooked and I got increasingly pissed off with both shows they watched.
Plus tomorrow is the first really warm day we've had since I moved stores, and it's quite unpleasant in there. I am not looking forward to later in the summer and adding another 10 degrees on top of that.
Plus the sausage rolls I cooked (actually sesame chicken rolls) don't really taste as nice as they usually do. Think I should have put more garlic in.

please-- I just watched Arkangel and I am SO pissed!
(lots of ranting and anger below, especially when I talk about Marie)
I wasn't expecting it to cause such a visceral reaction from me, I was like, really volatile right after. It was really weird, but it really got to me for some reason.
Sara:
good on you, kick your mom's ass. don't get in that random car though, seriously-- if Trick is alive still and not in a dangerous situation with his dad or his 'clients' RUN THE FUCK AWAY WITH HIM! Y'all were so sweet together! Seriously, she didn't have any right to do that to you; she told you she wouldn't intrude again and she broke that promise then ruined your life without even telling you what she saw! She punished you and Trick without telling you the punishable offense, so fuck her.
Trick:
money or not, you have a car! PLEASE, you can find somewhere safe! If I were in that world I swear I'd find some way to support you AND Sara if need be! But please, sir, don't give her any more drugs. Please, turn away from the drugs before they ruin you! Please, don't get stuck, don't get stuck like that. You deserve so much better, I promise you, you do. Just please, don't let yourself get stuck; if you do, it'll be hell to get out.
Marie:
I understand you're a mother, and a single mother at that. but you invaded every aspect of your daughter's life without telling her. You filtered and restrained her, then expected her not to rebel! You pushed your helicopter tendencies on your daughter, and forced her (I'm assuming) first attempt at love and intimacy into ignoring her and making her think she or he was the problem! Do you have any idea what you did?! You ruined her! You ruined everything! I don't think Sara overreacted, you deserved every strike, every word.

TV rant
For the past few years, studios have been pumping out live action remakes, spin offs, and sequels and justifying this by saying that older people don't like animation, but I don't buy that.
We had a good chunk of shows in the 00's and 10's that were adult geared cartoons that were intended for mature audiences. Family Guy, American Dad, Futurama, Rick and Morty, even the Simpsons was aimed at 'families' and not just a cartoon for kids. And these shows were big successes. It was common for kids to watch them even if they were too young, but they still had lots of adult viewers.
We even had animated movies like Sausage Party that were 100% for adults even if it's a cartoon. So why is it that if we can manage to entertain people with a food orgy that we still have this idea that animation is just for kids? Even if it is a kids show, we can still have content that inspires mature discussions (ATLA) and have stories that get surprisingly dark (Clone Wars).
That being said, I'm still cranky they decided to do the Ahsoka series live action instead of animated, cuz Rebels as an animated show was fantastic. I feel like there has to be another motive for them to be doing this. Maybe live action costs less these days than animation?

I find it unfathomable and astounding that Tumblr isn't more obsessed with Sam Reich. You're telling me there exists out there a man who was born into the aristocracy of our country—with every privilege of modern society at his fingertips—who didn't complete high school (due to his mental health) and instead chose to devote his life to making strangers laugh and raising awareness on mental health. A full-bearded short king who is so committed to being the change he wants to see in the world that he decided to take the company he worked for into his own hands so that he could make sure all the people who worked under him could keep their livelihoods.
How many other CEOs are out here being as honest and transparent with their target audience/market as Sam Reich is? How many of them acknowledge when they fumble and continuously strive to be better than they were? How many of them actually seem like they respect their talent, both in the cast and crew? Sam Reich is the standard we should be holding other CEOs to.
But forget about all that (I could talk for a long time about the respect I have for Sam Reich)—ignore just how respectable he is as a businessman and a person. Ignore all the wholesome reasons for obsessing over Sam Dalton Reich.
The man is a stone-cold fox.
He's a little chaos gremlin and an absolute evil mastermind all rolled into one classy suit and well-groomed beard. Whenever Sam is on the set, you can guarantee he is going to make you crack a smile. And for someone with such natural authority, he's never afraid to be the butt of a joke and show himself being embarrassed. Go ahead, watch any clip of him trying to improvise in No Laugh Newsroom and just try to resist that blush.
You're sleeping on a goldmine of a man, here, damnit! And I will NOT let this go ignored any longer!

no cause like, the way they've turned gabe into this pathetic excuse of a man really got on my nerves. He's silly, almost idiotic in the show. I'm not saying that Sally should be mistreated but enduring what happened out of love for percy and how she breaks free from that abusive situation are intrinsically linked to gabe being this RAT
can't believe they'll do that to Sally and I hope I'm wrong and he'll eventually be what he's in the books (?) sounds unlikely though

I feel like we, as a fandom have never collectively discussed how fucking awesome Rachel Elizabeth Dare is. I honestly think she's the most underappreciated character in the entire fandom. Like demigods, she's incredibly creative, thinks and behaves outside of what's expected of her in the mortal world, and has this incredible power of sight that no one else has. She hates her father for being a developer, she volunteers in her free time to help raise money for art programs for kids, she's a great friend to Percy, she's incredibly brave (i.e. going into the labyrinth because 'she had no summer plans' , flying into a war zone, hitting Kronos with a blue hairbrush), she's really funny, but all everyone talks about is how much they hate her because she's a rival for Percy's affections but when you think about it... hello!!! Of course Percy has a crush on her she's "just as brave as Annabeth", incredibly creative, has complex feelings towards her family and her own identity... are you sensing a pattern!! Percy has a type!! All of this is made funnier when you realize Rick Riordan describes Becky (his wife) as a creative who he trusts with everything like he basically wrote two incarnations of his wife in a love triangle LOL
