So I’m reading your soulmate!Darklina fic, and I was wondering: do you have specific designs for their soulmarks? Or like inspo/ref pics for them? I was just curious how you envisioned them :D

yay, i hope you're enjoying it! (this is the fic, for anyone who hasn't seen it but would be interested in a darklina soulmate au)

okay so for alina's soulmark, which is shadows curling up around her arm, i was able to find something that fits what i was imagining pretty perfectly:

sort of smokey shadows, some more transparent bits and some more opaque bits. i imagine it being something that alina could easily perceive as beautiful but others could still find menacing.

but for aleksander, i have more of a collection of inspo/vibes, as i wasn't able to find any tattoo pics that capture what i'm imagining. so, here's some golden light references:

i imagine that aleksander's soulmark is similar to alina's in terms of how it swirls around his arm/how it's generally shaped. but instead of being black & grey shadows, it's gold-colored. like, not yellow, gold, sort of kintsugi vibes, except instead of cracks it's light beams and fireworks and stars/stardust sort of shapes/textures in gold on his skin.

i hope that makes sense! i will have to link to this post the next time i have a chapter to post, thanks for giving me the opportunity to collect some of the references/inspo i found on pinterest and post them here :D

It’s a necklace that screams ownership. Alina wants to rip it from his hands and throw the elegant thing in the trash - it has rows of midnight black diamonds set in it, shaped into something like suns suspended from the gold chains.

Instead she smiles and allows Kirigan to put it on her neck - he likes her and Nikolai to be grateful and sweet.
